Please don't write me off while I am still alive!

A message from John Kubicek (the Editor of this blog) This is the first time I've written here for, uh... how long? WAY TOO LONG! Yeah, well, go ahead, YELL at me! You have no idea what I've been through, either, now do ya? Life has been exciting, to say the most. Just for starters, a new friend in my life, and another mouth to feed. That would be my adopted kitty, Pearse. You can read more about that here. I had been planning on writing to let you know that I had taken a short hiatus from this blog. I had been wanting to do a few things to enhance the appearance of the Cross Tribe Network. I'm working on it. But there are those times when I wonder how I'll "find the time" to do all the things I want to do. I found that there is a good locator device available that helps us to "find the time": It is called Motivation. How about some great videos to help you with operating the motivation device? Let's start with the video, "In My Life," which shows us how Life is a journey, and we choose the path that we want to take:
That was such a beautiful song! [Continue reading - includes two more videos!]

New bid to unseal Obama's birth certificate

Challenge claims Hawaii waived privacy by talking about document By Bob Unruh © 2009 WorldNetDaily Posted: May 28, 2009 A Chicago activist who has pursued a challenge to Barack Obama's eligibility to be president since before the 2008 election is asking an appeals court in Hawaii to order the release of the president's original birth certificate, explaining that state officials have waived their ability to claim any further it is a private document. The request was submitted by self-described Internet "writer/columnist/investigative journalist" Andy Martin to the Intermediate Court of Appeals in Hawaii this week. It comes in a lawsuit against Gov. Linda Lingle and others and asks the court to order the release of Obama's original birth documentation. Martin, who writes on the ContrarianCommentary.blogpost.com page, filed his lawsuit Oct. 17, 2008, seeking a declaratory judgment to obtain access to the 1961 birth certificate of Barack Obama, who then was a candidate for president. A circuit judge set a hearing after the election, but because of a growing controversy over the complete absence of documentation about Obama's birth place – and therefore his constitutional eligibility to be president – Hawaiian Health Director Chiyome Fukino issued a statement regarding the issue: "I, and Dr. Alvin Onaka have personally seen and verified that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Obama's original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures." But as WND has reported, the statement left ambiguous the information in the birth certificate: Does the certificate on file with the Department of Health indicate a Hawaiian birth, or was it generated after the Obama family registered a Kenyan birth in Hawaii? An online "Certification of Live Birth" posted by Obama doesn't verify a Hawaiian birth, because it is a document the state has made available to children not born in the state, critics note. Now Martin's demand to the appeals court states that Fukino "disseminated information that they had examined the 'original' birth certificate, and it was valid. …" [Continue reading]

Do-it-yourself deities ~ By Greg Laurie

By Greg Laurie Posted: May 30, 2009 © 2009 Greg Laurie What are you the most passionate about in life? What do you find yourself thinking about more than anything else? What one thing, if it were taken away from you, would leave you utterly destroyed? That is your god. That is what you worship. Make no mistake – everybody has a god. Everybody worships someone or something. Maybe you can't remember the last time, if ever, that you bowed down before an idol or saw someone else worshiping one. But have you ever seen the way that some people treat their cars? They park in more than one space. They have the emblem of their car on their jacket and their hat. Other people have pictures of their family; they have a picture of their car from every angle. Is it possible that car could be a god to that person? I think so. Everyone has built an altar to something in their life. Their god might be materialism. Their god might be sex. Their god might be music. Their god might be some sport. Whatever you put at the forefront of your life, that is your god. Yet God is very clear in pointing out that he will not share his glory with another. He says, "Have no other gods before me" (Exodus 20:3 NIV). [Continue reading]

One column, varied responses ~ By Pat Boone

By Pat Boone © 2009 Posted: May 30, 2009 Last week in this space, I wrote "The ACLU, America's Taliban." In that piece, I presented a strong case against the activities and obvious goals of this lawyer group, which ironically is consistently and militantly opposed to virtually every civil liberty of the majority of Americans. It wasn't just a polemic, a knee jerk tantrum; it was a well documented list of the institutions and traditions that the American Civil Liberties Union attacks and an even longer list of aberrant, morally and socially corruptive issues they promote. If it's religious, moral or patriotic, the ACLU will likely bring suit against it; if it's sacrilegious, anti-American or degenerate, the ACLU will actively defend it. I presented the facts, which clearly reveal a well-funded activist group that, like an American Taliban, seems absolutely committed to destroying the foundations that have defined our country. Most of the reader response was very favorable. People have become very aware of the excesses and the near-gangland style of the ACLU, and many agreed with my assessment and warnings. One letter was from David Levin, of the Patriots Heart Network: "Thank goodness you mentioned the ACLU's efforts to support illegal immigration and illegal aliens themselves!" wrote Levin. "Aiding and abetting illegal aliens is a felony. It allows for the invasion of our sovereign nation." David went on to quote latest official estimates of nearly 40 million illegals, almost half of them in California and Arizona, fanning out across the nation. The Taliban couldn't have hoped to accomplish an unprecedented invasion of our homeland like that – but the ACLU is all for it and treats aliens as if they are bona fide citizens. And of course, they see Islamic detainees and terrorists the same way, entitled to all legal rights and privileges of American citizens. [Continue reading]

American Capitalism Gone With A Whimper ~ By Stanislov Mishin

From Fresh Conservative This piece was written by a Russian citizen named Stanislov Mishin on his blog entitled Mat Rodina. His insight into the current American political and economic situation is compelling at least, and predictive at best. I have taken the liberty of correcting some grammatical problems in the piece but have changed none of the content. Enjoy.
By Stanislov Mishin It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath-taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people. True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds were conducted upon our Holy Russia, and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists. Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters. First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather than the classics. Americans know more about their favorite television dramas than the drama in DC that directly affects their lives. They care more for their "right" to choke down a McDonald’s burger or a Burger King burger than for their constitutional rights. Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our "democracy". Pride blindeth the foolish. Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different "branches and denominations" were for the most part little more than Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top protestant mega preachers were more than happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the "winning" side of one pseudo Marxist politician or another. Their flocks may complain, but when explained that they would be on the "winning" side, their flocks were ever so quick to reject Christ in hopes for earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America. The final collapse has come with the election of Barrack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been record setting, not just in America's short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more than another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Weimar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe. [Keep reading]

Gates Warns N. Korea on Nuclear Transfers as Russia, Japan Talk

By Viola Gienger and Jae Hur May 31 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates warned North Korea against exporting technology from its nuclear weapons program as Russia and Japan called for a “serious” response to Kim Jong Il’s nuclear test. Gates held talks with his counterparts from Japan and South Korea yesterday to coordinate their response to North Korea’s May 25 nuclear test and subsequent missile firings, marking the first time the military chiefs of the three countries had met jointly. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso agreed during a telephone call yesterday that a “serious” response to North Korea’s actions is required, the Kremlin said in an e-mailed statement. “Both sides agreed on the need to react in the most serious way to these steps, which are a challenge to the international security system,” the statement said. North Korea fired six short-range missiles this past week in addition to detonating an atomic device. The U.S. and Japan are seeking a United Nations Security Council resolution that cuts North Korea’s international financial ties as well as China’s help in persuading to abandon its nuclear ambitions. “The transfer of nuclear weapons or material by North Korea to states or non-state entities would be considered a grave threat to the United States and our allies,” Gates told delegates at an annual Asian security conference in Singapore yesterday. “We would hold North Korea fully accountable for the consequences.” [Keep reading]

The wealth of 'useful idiots' ~ By Ellis Washington

By Ellis Washington © 2009
"Oprah is rich, Bill Gates is wealthy. If Bill Gates woke up tomorrow with Oprah's money, he'd jump out a f---in' window and slit his throat on the way down saying, 'I can't even put gas in my plane!'" ~ Chris Rock, "Never Scared" (2004)
I remember 30 years ago as a senior in high school being at the Detroit Public Library struggling to read a reference copy of Adam Smith's "The Wealth of Nations." While I didn't understand much of Smith's opus, I learned a valuable lesson in perseverance. I didn't give up and got a good grade in my economics class. About a year earlier in my American history class I learned that the Constitution's framers considered Smith's treatise on economics as their bible in deriving the fundamental precepts of national wealth-building and economic policy in America. Alexander Hamilton, America's first and greatest secretary of the treasury, put in place critical financial structures like a free-market economy, a stable currency based on the gold standard and an economic system based on supply and demand. Like our government, America's early philosophy of economics were all under the rubric of natural law – an inseparability of law and morality. People provide goods and services to each other not by government altruism (welfare) or legislative mandate, but out of their own self-interests, natural rights and the law of human nature where people naturally seek to better themselves. Adam Smith summarized these ideas with this famous aphorism from his book:
The Butcher, the Baker, and the Brewer provide goods and services to each other out of self-interest; the unplanned result of this division of labor is a better standard of living for all three.
Because the Constitution's framers embraced the capitalist principles of Adam Smith, a financial revolution was inaugurated that transformed and moved America's economic system away from the backward feudalism and mercantilism systems of Enlightenment Europe and toward becoming the greatest, richest economy in the history of the world. All that came from Adam Smith's economic capitalism, yet at present we have forgotten this singular genius and the principles of economic liberty he championed. In modern times, under the fascist President B. Hussein Obama, who scrupulously followed the lineage of several unremarkable predecessors over the past century – Woodrow Wilson, Hoover, FDR, LBJ, Carter, Bush 41, Clinton and most infamously, Bush 43 – under whom America's economy has been driven to the brink of the Great Depression, Part II. Entitled to be sick, fat and self-destructive ~ By Star Parker

By Star Parker © 2009 Want to know what troubles our American health care system? Consider the thoughts of psychiatrist and Nazi death camp survivor Viktor Frankl. After spending time in our country as a visiting professor, he saw the looming dangers of freedom without responsibility. He observed, "Freedom is in danger of degenerating into mere arbitrariness unless it is lived in terms of responsibleness. That is why I recommend that the Statue of Liberty on the East Coast be supplemented by a Statue of Responsibility on the West Coast." We as Americans accept that health care is an individual right, even if someone else is paying for it. The truth that every personal right must have an accompanying personal responsibility is now lost in our self-absorbed materialistic culture. We have only rights, entitlements if you will. Few have any idea what the costs are of the health care they receive. Many get it tax-subsidized through their employer, many get it through Medicare in a now bankrupt ponzi scheme in which those working pay taxes to pay for care of those retired, and more than 60 million Americans do not pay at all through Medicaid and SCHIP programs. Hundreds of millions receive health care, the costs of which have little or nothing to do with their own personal realities, and then we wonder why those costs are out of control. Now Ted Kennedy has introduced his solution to all of this, which also captures the thinking of our president. Set up a new government health care plan, subsidized by taxes, and call this "choice" because you are not forced to take it (although you are forced to pay taxes for it). As Senator Kennedy announces more free health care – meaning one group of Americans will get what another group of Americans will pay for – the disconnect between who gets health care services and who pays for them will grow even greater. These guns keep our children safe ~ By Patrice Lewis

By Patrice Lewis © 2009 In a prior column I described the absurdity of the U.N.'s Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), a treaty that will very likely get ratified because Nancy Pelosi says so. After all, we can't have dim parents having the final say in their children's upbringing. It takes a village and all that. And now we learn one more aspect of this charming treaty: guns. Yes, guns. To put it bluntly, if you live in a community with children – and who doesn't? – you shouldn't have guns. Allegedly the CRC's justification is to keep kids from becoming child soldiers in third-world countries. No argument from me. Afghanistan could use some lessons in raising kids. But if the U.S. ratifies the CRC, then we must accept the UN's position to "believe, teach and promote the idea that all private gun ownership is dangerous for children, and children have the right to grow up in a community that is free from all guns" (emphasis added). Excuse me? All guns? Private ownership? So kids shouldn't play cops-and-robbers? They should be taught never to defend themselves? They should never want to become soldiers or warriors? Yes indeedy, I can just see it now. We'll become a country of wimps. Or slaves. In a UNICEF brochure entitled "No Guns Please, We Are Children," we learn: "Small arms and light weapons kill and disable more children and adults than any other instrument of violence in conflict and post-conflict situations and on the streets of cities worldwide. Every year, deaths linked to small arms and light weapons run into the hundreds of thousands, with those injured exceeding 1 million." No effort to distinguish how many of these victims are kids. No effort to distinguish between the streets of Kabul and the streets of Coeur d'Alene. No effort to explain that evil people are using those guns, not peaceable citizens – because the citizens have been forcibly deprived of their guns by the evil people. [Keep reading]

What America needs from its leaders ~ By Henry Lamb

By Henry Lamb Posted: May 30, 2009 © 2009 The media appear to delight in exploiting the plight of the Republican Party, particularly the flap between Dick Cheney and Colin Powell. Cheney's comment that he thought Powell had left the Republican Party because he endorsed Obama provided a perfect opportunity for Powell to take the TV podium to tell Republicans they must become more moderate to reverse the flight from their ranks. What America needs cannot be found in either major party at the moment, nor in any of the dozens of other parties hoping to become a "third party." The litmus test for leadership is quite simple. If that's a birth certificate, I'll …

New campaign helps people creatively express 'flushtration' over eligibility Posted: May 28, 2009 11:50 pm Eastern © 2009 WorldNetDaily WASHINGTON – Is that "birth certificate" of Barack Obama's worth the paper it is written on? That's the question raised by a new campaign offering toilet paper rolls imprinted with the "certification of live birth" posted on the Internet by Barack Obama's presidential campaign last fall. The effort is donating a portion of the proceeds from the campaign to WND's national billboard campaign that asks the simple question, "Where's the birth certificate?" Yesterday, the campaign received a boost when WND's White House correspondent, Les Kinsolving, asked Obama's press secretary, Robert Gibbs, why the president would not release his actual long-form birth certificate to the public and put to rest dozens of lawsuits and questions from hundreds of thousands of Americans concerned about his constitutional eligibility to serve. Kinsolving specifically made reference to a WND petition signed by nearly 400,000 people calling for full disclosure. "Are you looking for the president's birth certificate?" he asked incredulously. "Lester, this question in many ways continues to astound me. The state of Hawaii provided a copy with the seal of the president's birth. I know there are apparently at least 400,000 people – (laughter) – that continue to doubt the existence of and the certification by the state of Hawaii of the president's birth there, but it's on the Internet because we put it on the Internet for each of those 400,000 to download. I certainly hope by the fourth year of our administration that we'll have dealt with this burgeoning birth controversy." It was the first time any member of the press corps has publicly asked a member of the administration a question directly related to Obama's constitutional eligibility for office as a "natural born citizen." Politico has video of the exchange, which is embedded below:
The question comes as the controversy is heating up nationally – sparked in part by a new billboard campaign asking the question: "Where's the birth certificate?" The campaign has also raised more than $50,000 in contributions from the public. [Continue reading]

Obama Only Interested in Bailing Out Union Buddies

Buying Up – Not Bailing Out Industries By JB Williams ©2009 USA Obama is on the cusp of making American taxpayers the proud new bankrupt owners of what is now affectionately referred to as “Government Motors.” – As GM follows Chrysler into Fed forced bankruptcy, Obama’s economic guru has already worked out the details of how GM will emerge from bankruptcy court a wholly owned asset of the Fed. According to reports, the US Treasury will own 72.5% of GM, after Obama carves out 17.5% for the United Auto Workers Union thugs, leaving the “old General Motors” with only a 10% stake in the new “Government Motors.” In the good ole days, we didn’t have Czars in America because the land of the free and home of the brave did not have government owned and operated industries. That stuff only existed in the Soviet Union ... Now, we need a Czar for every industry as the leftists in DC swallow up industry after industry. With blessings from the Bilderberg Group, Timothy Geithner proceeds with Obamanation plans to industrialize the US Fed by consuming yet another major private sector industry. As Obama rushes to buy up [you didn’t really think it was a bailout did you?] private sector industries, one after another, it becomes more and more clear exactly what kinds of “change” Obama had in mind. Too bad his voters never bothered to ask before voting... Guess which Chrysler dealerships Obama and Geithner saw no need to save? Blogger Doug Ross provides facts you are not likely to see on CNN... World War III began this week ~ By Gabriel Erem

Posted: May 29, 2009 1:00 am Eastern By Gabriel Erem © 2009 One needs to be extraordinarily ignorant at this time in order not to realize that the nuclear bomb tested in North Korea this week also exploded in Tokyo, Seoul, Moscow, New York and Washington. While Iran's madman, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, only verbally ridiculed America in front of the U.N. and a global audience (enthusiastically cheered on by most of the Muslim world), painting the U.S. as a toothless tiger, the dogmatic North Koreans went a whole lot further by blatantly exploding a powerful nuclear device earlier this week. By manifestly disregarding the Americans and publicly presenting them to the disbelieving world as a meaningless paper tiger, Pyongyang's rulers have taken chutzpah to unprecedented levels. Amanijehad's fiery rhetoric, augmented by Bashar Assad's refusal to take the U.S. seriously and Hugo Chavez's ongoing anti-U.S. tirades pale in comparison to the 20-kiloton "statement" made over the weekend by North Korea's Communist tyrant leader, Kim Jong-il. To underscore their bravado, the North Korean bigots also fired six short-range missiles – just to make a point. Although no one officially acknowledged it, on May 25, 2009, in North Korea, World War III officially got under way – the war that would ultimately pit "rabid" states such as North Korea and Iran, for example, against states generally characterized as "moderate," including Egypt, the Gulf states and Saudi Arabia. Obama tells Jews where they can live ~ By Joseph Farah

Posted: May 29, 2009 1:00 am Eastern By Joseph Farah © 2009 Barack Obama is taking what he and his administration refer to as "a more balanced approach to Middle East policy." Let me explain what that literally means in real terms. It means the U.S. government is now using its clout with Israel to insist Jews, not Israelis, mind you, but Jews, be disallowed from living in East Jerusalem and the historically Jewish lands of Judea and Samaria, often referred to as the West Bank. I want you to try to imagine the outrage, the horror, the outcry, the clamoring, the gnashing of teeth that would ensue if Arabs or Muslims were told they could no longer live in certain parts of Israel – let alone their own country. Of course, that would never happen with "a more balanced approach to the Middle East." It's the 1930s all over again. This time, it's the enlightened liberal voices of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama who are telling Jews where they can live, how they can live and how far they must bend if they want to live at all. I know you haven't heard it put like this before. I don't really understand why. There is simply no other accurate way to explain the machinations behind the latest demands on Israel from the West and the rest of the world. Israel is being reduced to "Auschwitz borders." Jews have already been told they can no longer live in the Gaza Strip. Now they are being told they can no longer choose to live in any of the areas being set aside by international elites for a future Palestinian state. Again, I ask, "Why would internationalists seek to create, by definition, a racist, anti-Jewish state that doesn't even tolerate the mere presence of Jews?" Can anyone answer that question for me? Obama and Clinton – and, thus, by definition, you and me, the taxpayers of the United States – have determined they will yield to the racist, bigoted, anti-Semitic demands of the Palestinian Authority that no Jews be allowed to live in their new state. Chrysler's 'hit list' targets GOP donors ~ By Chelsea Schilling

Dealers who give to Republicans much more likely to be shuttered Posted: May 27, 2009 ~ 7:54 pm Eastern By Chelsea Schilling © 2009 WorldNetDaily As part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy, Chrysler is terminating one-fourth of its franchises – but some say its catalog of doomed dealerships looks more like a hit list that specifically seeks to put Republican donors out of business. Chrysler will now be eligible for up to $8 billion in taxpayer-funded federal aid. The federal government has already provided $8.58 billion to Chrysler and Chrysler Holding between the months of January and May of this year. The Treasury also loaned $1.5 billion to the automaker's lending arm in January. President Obama has said the bankruptcy will give the company "a new lease on life," after his administration spearheaded a plan requiring the company sell to Italian automaker Fiat. Chrysler's stronger operations will be owned by Fiat, labor and the U.S. and Canadian governments. The sale could close as early as this Friday. Obama said the bankruptcy would be a "quick" and "efficient" step toward Chrysler's "survival." "The necessary steps have been taken to give one of America's most storied automakers, Chrysler, a new lease on life," Obama said. "This is not a sign of weakness." But WND reviewed the list of 789 closing franchises and databases of political donors and found that of dealership majority owners making contributions in the November 2008 election, less than 10 percent gifted to Democrats while 90 percent gave substantial sums to Republican candidates. The listed franchise owners contributed at least $450,000 to Republican presidential candidates and the GOP, while only $7,970 was donated to Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign and $2,200 was given to Sen. John Edwards' campaign. Obama received a combined total of only $450 in donations – $250 from dealer Jane Baldock in Wenatchee, Wash., and $200 from Waco, Texas, dealer Jeffrey Hunter. [Continue reading]

Things will be changing

By John Kubicek It was all so easy before. And then, suddenly, everything changed. Just what will be the ultimate impact of the major changes made at digg.com? Let's start with this: I used to be able to post stories I found or submitted at digg.com directly to this blog. But not now. Suddenly, that option is gone. You can now submit stories directly to Twitter or Facebook - your only options besides email. I sent a request to digg.com for some information about this, from their public relations/press inuiries departments, but did not get a response to my questions by this time of publication. I gave them a chance to respond. To be fair, I'll give them a little more time to respond before I post the questions I had for them. What has happened here seems to have some insidious agenda behind it. Shouts, a way that digg users could easily use to communicate between mutual friends, have been shut off. That hurt, but not as much as what I found out about being able to post digg stories directly to MY blog, rather than twitter or facebook. It seems to me like somebody needed to slow down the Conservatives. Many of us at digg.com were in a great network that was growing even faster than lefties were able to get us banned. Yes, things will be changing. I am so afraid of losing track of many of the friends that I had gained over the last two years. So this is why I have to ask, is there a place we can find to meet that WON'T be sucking out all of our private info? And I say it that way, because you know what? This seems to be so devious, and I have this feeling that we've been "played" to get us former "diggers" somehow addicted... I'm just sayin' .... And I guarantee I'll be writing more about this, assuming they let me live a few more days.

Obama and Cheney battle over war on terror policies

By JOSH GERSTEIN & JONATHAN MARTIN In an extraordinary crosstown debate carried live across the airwaves, President Barack Obama and former Vice President Dick Cheney battled Thursday over the Bush administration’s war on terror, with Cheney issuing a scathing rejection of the new president’s policies and saying Obama is leaving the nation exposed to attack. Cheney accused those who call Bush interrogation practices torture – as Obama has – of engaging in “contrived indignation and phony moralizing on the interrogation methods applied to a few captured terrorists.” And he urged Obama to make future national security choices based not on “slogans and campaign rhetoric, but on a truthful telling of history.” Obama, in turn, said President George W. Bush decimated the nation’s values and beliefs in a hastily conceived, poorly executed plan that left him a “mess” at Guantanamo Bay prison and American’s image abroad in tatters. Obama said the only responsible way to clean up problems at Gitmo is to bring some prisoners to the U.S. for trial, despite the intense resistance to that idea in Congress. Please don't resign, Nancy! ~ By Joseph Farah

Posted: May 19, 2009 © 2009 By Joseph Farah I disagree with those calling for Nancy Pelosi to resign as speaker of the House. I want her to stay right where she is – the poster girl for Democratic Party dishonesty, duplicity, hypocrisy, vacillation, finger-pointing and the inability to distinguish right from wrong. Really. Why would anyone who wants to see the Congress turned upside-down in 2010 want Nancy Pelosi to step down? It doesn't make sense. I want her to stay where she is until the next election. I want Harry Reid to stay where he is in the Senate. I want Barney Frank to get as much face time as possible and continue in his leadership role for the majority. Don't dump Nancy, please! Just think of the opportunities she presents for challengers in 2010. I can envision her very name working its way into the permanent political lexicon of the nation. In the future, when someone tries to say one thing and do another or backpedal from previous policies or have his cake and eat it too, we can just respond simply: "Don't you Pelosi your way through this one …" Her name may well find its way into dictionaries in the future: "Pelosi – verb – to argue a point while ignoring relevant facts and defying logic and reason." Headed into the 2010 elections, I love the idea of having a Democratic House speaker who is a known fraud – someone who represents herself as being opposed to waterboarding terrorists captured on the battlefield, but who never lifted a finger to stop it despite being in her position of power for three years. She may have trouble holding her own congressional seat with a record like that. I wouldn't be surprised if Cindy Sheehan takes her out in a primary. At the end of the day, Americans appreciate politicians who mean what they say and say what they mean. They appreciate politicians who stand on principles and don't waffle. They appreciate politicians who don't lie as a way of life. [Continue reading]

Miss USA 2010 ~ By Doug Powers

By Doug Powers © 2009 Does anybody know who won the Miss USA competition a few weeks ago? A lot of people think that Miss California, Carrie Prejean, won. She didn't. Carrie was the first runner-up. Prejean's refusal to cave to pressure and apologize for her opinion on same-sex marriage may have set a dangerous precedent, and made the Left regret the question was ever asked. Because of all the exposure, Prejean's going to make more money than she ever would have otherwise, especially now that she's got a gig at Fox News. Due to this example of how ticking off the PC bunch can translate to big exposure and bigger dollars, here are some responses I predict we might hear at next year's Miss USA pageant: Q: Miss Texas, if you were Miss USA and an attack on our nation occurred, what would you consider your role to be? Common Sense Revisted

By James Cox for Corey Morrow There is a new freedom pamphlet sweeping across America. It has been featured by Ron Paul’s Campaign for Liberty, Restore the Republic and Republic Magazine, Freedom Law School, and many other liberty organizations. I am pleased to announce my support for this new pamphlet and wish to share it with you. In January 1776, it seemed unlikely that the 13 American colonies would declare independence from England. Even as George Washington was leading the Colonial Army against the British in Boston, most of the delegates wanted to patch things up with King George. The advocates of Freedom, led by John Adams, asked for a non-binding survey to see where they stood. The results were disheartening. Less than a third voted to declare independence. What happened between January and July that led to our Declaration of Independence? COMMON SENSE, written by Thomas Paine, was published late in the month of January. It presented arguments to refute the divine birthright of kings. Paine made the case for individual sovereignty, declaring all powers of government are derived from the individuals that created the government. The first printing of 50,000 copies sold out in one day. The second printing also sold out in one day. An estimated 500,000 copies were printed and circulated over the next few months. At the time, the population of the colonies was only 3 million. The vast majority of the population had read Paine’s pamphlet. [Continue reading]

Obama's And Admin's Blatant Chrysler Plant-Closing Fibs to Four States' Pols Get Virtually No National Notice

By Tom Blumer (NewsBusters) Imagine if in December George W. Bush and his administration had:
> Decided not to issue the initial bailout billions to General Motors but not Chrysler, thereby forcing Chrysler into bankruptcy. > Had his advisers get on the phone with elected in officials in towns and states where Chrysler has plants and told them that the bankruptcy was about to happen. > Said that the Chrysler bankruptcy "will not disrupt the lives of the people who work at Chrysler or the communities that depend" on them.
Now imagine if, 24-36 hours later, Bush's advisers disclosed that many Chrysler plants would close. Does anyone reading this think that such an obvious betrayal would have gone unreported by the major TV networks or newspapers of record? Well, on Wednesday and Thursday, April 29 and 30, Barack Obama and his administration did exactly what I described above. Then, on May 1, Obama's car guys and Chrysler announced the closings of plants in Ohio, Wisconsin, Missouri, and Michigan. Yet this shocking deception, acknowledged as such by well-known names in both major parties, has only been news in the metro areas affected.

Pay More Attention to Harold Koh ~ By Oliver North

By Oliver North Ollie NorthIt is said that there are two kinds of lawyers -- those who know the law, and those who know the judge. And then there is Harold Koh, the man who is likely to be the next Legal Adviser to the State Department. Koh most recently served as Dean of the Yale Law School and before that as Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Labor and Human Rights in the Clinton administration. He is a prolific author and a legal activist of the Left. Earlier this week, his nomination to be Foggy Bottom’s barrister was voted out of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, 12-5. His pending appointment has received scant attention from the media or the senators who will decide his fate. It deserves a closer look. The State Department Legal Adviser is unique. The person holding the position helps formulate and implement U.S. foreign policy; advises the Justice Department on cases with international implications; influences U.S. positions on issues considered by international bodies; represents the U.S. at treaty negotiations and international conferences; has input into the drafting of Security Council resolutions and the interpretation of treaties. Koh’s record deserves more scrutiny because he is not just an attorney who knows the law -- he is an activist lawyer who knows what he wants the law to be. From all he has said and written, it is apparent that Koh wants U.S. jurisprudence to be shaped by international law, European courts, foreign governments, and international organizations like the United Nations. Koh puts himself in the “transnationalist” camp of legal practioners, which he describes as those who “believe in and promote the blending of international and domestic law.” He has written that “transnationalists believe that U.S. courts can and should use their interpretive powers to promote the development of a global legal system.” [Continue reading]
