Has Trump awakened the sleeping giant? ~ By David Limbaugh

From within the commentary by David Limbaugh:
People are horrified and furious that Obama is destroying America at an ever-accelerating pace and that our cultural rot proceeds apace. They are tired of hearing excuses and empty promises from Republicans.

Trump is having none of it, and he is calling out Obama and the Republicans who are trying to tone him down – and it’s abundantly refreshing.

Meanwhile, the media continue to make Trump’s statements the issue instead of Obama’s daily – and I mean daily – outrages.
Here are my thoughts on this: "Houston, we have a problem." That problem has a name, and it is Donald Trump. He isn't playing by the rules, and Americans are loving it. Not so much the Republican Party. As David explains, Trump is resonating with many Republican voters because he IS taking on the Establishment Republicans AND the liberal media. And meanwhile, the GOP Establishment knows that if Trump leaves the party and runs as an Independent in 2016, it would put Shrillary, or someone like her (or worse, think: Bernie Sanders), in the White House.

Well, guess what? It seems that Trump can make his brash statements, and the more the other candidates jump on Donald for what he says, the more Trump's numbers go up. He's not afraid of his personal beliefs becoming public.

This has to be driving the political analysts nuts. The media pundits don't seem to have an answer, and neither do the campaign managers in both parties. That's easy to understand, isn't it? They just don't get it!
Notably, it is not just Donald Trump who is speaking out. Sen. Ted Cruz is fearlessly and brilliantly articulating mainstream conservatism, and he’s pulling no punches. The same is true of some of the other candidates. Cruz and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina are both putting on clinics on how to deal with media interviews – refusing to cede the narrative and hitting back hard against Democratic extremism.
If We the People really want somebody that is not afraid to speak out, Donald Trump is going to be the choice as of now.  It may be a good idea for other Republicans to actually say what they are thinking, too, and not back off when the critics attack. It's called sticking to your words.  Staying away from attacking other Republicans in the field would be the best strategy.  Just sayin'...

From wnd.com Commentary

The professional hand-wringers are freaking out over Donald Trump’s straight talk while displaying abysmal indifference to the deserved targets of Trump’s charges. The United States is incinerating, but all they can think about is Trump’s heated rhetoric.

Trump is resonating because, as a presidential candidate, he is giving public voice to many of the concerns that have Americans beside themselves. Some commentators have called attention to these issues for years, but it’s different when a candidate does it, especially a Republican candidate.

Democratic candidates have no fear of making controversial statements or even of taking extreme positions, because the liberal media agree with them and will avoid putting them in a bad light. But Republicans know that the media will exploit any opportunity to vilify them.

Republicans also feel pressure from the GOP establishment to pull their punches – not to say anything that would make them look too conservative, too extreme, too uncaring, too out of step with the popular culture. “Don’t sound judgmental. Moderate your words. Be respectful toward President Obama. And above all, don’t sound like one of those crazies.”

Then Donald Trump comes along and breaks all the rules. He is not beholden to anyone for funding, and he’s not a string puppet for any feckless political consultants.

Stupidity reconsidered ~ By Dr. Ben Carson

There is no question that the American people are distracted by sports and entertainment and that we confer godlike status on actors and some athletes. There is also no question that we could do more to enhance our knowledge about important issues. However, to assume that the American people are stupid and uncaring and to design programs and speeches around that assumption is arrogant, disrespectful and, frankly, very shortsighted. As has famously been said, “You can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.”

This most recent revelation by the unmasking of one of the chief architects of Obamacare is far from the first and only indication of a pattern of deception and manipulation by the current administration. There appears to be overt contempt for the intelligence of the populace by people who would have us believe that the Benghazi disaster was caused by an ill-defined and little-watched video, and that there was not even a smidgen of evidence of wrongdoing surrounding the “phony” Internal Revenue Service scandal, and that the government would never engage in spying on its own citizens without cause. Unfortunately, the administration knows that it can say virtually anything, and that there are some people who are so desperate to believe that it will be accepted as truth. They also know that many members of the mainstream media subscribe to their same ideology and will protect them, regardless of the consequences.
Do you know the difference between Dr. Benjamin Carson and Jonathan Gruber or Barack Obama? Dr. Carson is actually very intelligent, unlike Gruber or the President, and has many great accomplishments under his belt to prove his credibility. As a neurosurgeon, he has helped many people, mostly children. Gruber or the President?  Not so much.

Even better, he doesn't look down at all of us "stupid people." In fact, should he decide to run for President in 2016, he DEPENDS on us being intelligent enough to not fall for any further deceptions from the left-wing politicians and sycophantic mainstream media. But whether or not we stay diligently tuned in to what is actually happening in this world, is up to us.  Just sayin'...

Stupidity reconsidered
Ben Carson: Obama team will be proved wrong about intellect of the American people
Dr. Ben Carson

By Dr. Ben Carson

From WND.com Commentary

Jonathan Gruber set off a firestorm of controversy, at least in the conservative media, with the recent revelation of his comments about the “stupidity of the American people,” which allowed the Affordable Care Act to be passed. In essence, he admitted that the bill was written in a way that would allow its purveyors to characterize it as the cure-all and salvation for a health-care system that was in trouble, with no danger of their deception being discovered by a populace that is trusting and naive. He obviously never intended for his comments to make it into the public sphere and did not consider the fact that someone is always recording on a smartphone.

What is truly disturbing is the fact that our government is willing to engage in the purposeful deception of the populace in order to thrust its secretive agenda onto an unsuspecting populace and a sycophantic mainstream media. As I have said many times before, Obamacare was never about health care; it was about government control and wealth redistribution. If there were real concern about the uninsured, it would have been much cheaper and considerably less complex to simply give all of the uninsured Cadillac health plans for life. I am a firm believer that health-care reform was and is needed, and I have been advocating for it for several years. It needs to be done correctly, though, and in a way that does not create different levels of access and treatment.

Is GOP planning to 'throw the fight' in 2012? ~ By Eric Rush

There would have to be some questions in your mind as to why Erik Rush would be wondering if the GOP was going to allow Barack Hussein Obama to win four more years.  Why would they purposefully throw the 2012 election?

Though you may doubt that would happen, at least when you read what Erik has to say you will understand why he came to this plausible theory.

I must admit, I had some thoughts that the GOP leadership is trying to throw this election, long before reading Erik's column. I became suspicious initially by the fact that there wasn't an overwhelming amount of support for Herman Cain from the GOP or the "Right" during the devious - and dubious - attack on his personal character. Erik correctly explained it here:

The political right's attempts to throw Herman Cain under the bus in the face of a scandal that was clearly contrived did more to give teeth to this argument than anything I've seen in quite a while. Given the unprecedented enthusiasm Cain was building, one would think that the GOP would have thrown the full weight of its support behind him.
Well, the GOP wasn't going to support Herman Cain: He is too Conservative. Once Cain was hung out to dry, it was open-season on him. The attacks on him began to focus on some of Herman Cain's responses to questions regarding foreign affairs. (I have some thoughts on those "responses," but I will share them in another column.)

But here's what I'm thinking:  Maybe the GOP leaders (Elite) don't think we can win the election. They may be thinking that if one or the other side of the GOP  - progressives (moderates?) or Conservatives - gains too much control, it will divide the Republican party for generations. (Well, so be it, then!)

The good news, there is a way out for us.  If we unite, like the Tea Party did in 2010, we DO have a chance!  How about if we show the GOP elite that they are misguided? We just need a GOP candidate with great Conservative values, and we're not going to let anyone TELL us who it is! I'm just sayin'...

Is GOP planning to 'throw the fight' in 2012?
ERIK RUSH

President Obama's political liabilities (both passive and active) are legion, and it should be expected that the establishment press will continue to run interference for him – but why the deafening silence from Republican leaders? Increasingly, Independent and Republican voters are discussing the question of why prominent Republicans and the current presidential contenders aren't chanting Obama's aforementioned political liabilities from the rooftops. From the card-carrying communists in his employ, to his role in catalyzing the "Arab Spring," to his vacationing while the world burns, there is just so much from which to choose. Yet the GOP has missed opening after opening politically.

Many have long considered the likelihood that our country could not have gravitated this far toward becoming a socialist megalith without complicity on both sides of the aisle.

Instead, the GOP leadership bailed, and the so-called conservative pundits who limp-wristedly "concurred" that Cain was not "ready for prime time" – especially considering what we have in office now – made me want to vomit.

When I – or colleagues who've come to the same conclusions – postulate the notion that the GOP is planning to throw the fight in 2012 with regard to the presidency, rank-and-file Republicans look at us as though live lobsters were emerging from both ears. It's as implausible to them as Barack Obama being a socialist was to most voters in 2008. Why, they ask, would leaders in the GOP play such a dangerous game with our economy in tatters, our national security on opiates and dedicated agitators fomenting a communist revolution?

Why? Because these faux conservatives fear real conservatives more than they fear communists. What galls is that some among them are prominent figures whom real conservatives have come to trust.

Now is not the time to settle ~ By Erik Rush

While Romney receiving the nomination is by no means certain, it is imperative that we remain mindful of the fact that the elite GOP leadership has the potential to be every bit the enemy as the Democrat leadership. For decades, they could have been sounding the alarm, calling Americans' attention to the fundamental transformation (pun intended) that Democrats were bringing about via liberal (socialist) policies. Instead, they feathered their own nests, allowing generations of Americans to become less astute and less informed as to how manifestly dangerous these policies were. Many became what they beheld, and are now indistinguishable from the socialist elites in the Democratic Party.

Now, they would place yet another lukewarm Republican in the Oval Office, one who will be no better than the last two Republican presidents we endured. There's little doubt that some GOP power players are closet socialists themselves, but a strong contingent simply believes that "playing it safe" with someone who is not identified as a strong conservative will somehow win the day – like Bob Dole or John McCain.

This feeble logic has long since been nullified, and at this juncture more than ever, the American people do not want to settle for someone who is only a click or two on the political dial to the right of Obama. The voters who turned the tide during the midterm election want someone who is – at the very least – going to make every attempt to undo what our tin pot premier of a president has done.

I finally found the column I was looking for that would support and defend what I wrote a few weeks back in my commentary about "Dear skeptics and critics ... ~ By Herman Cain." In my remarks, I wrote:
When I hear the pundits say there is nothing that is exciting about the current field of potential Republican candidates, they are making a huge mistake. Really, I'd much rather hear them saying that it's hard to choose amongst the strong talent that is taking on the challenge to beat the current incumbent! I can't believe that they are trying to throw another election! What's wrong with them? And do you really want to listen to the establishment that ended up giving us John McCain?
In this column, Erik Rush mentions some very important points that we need to keep in mind. Erik reminds us that if we are going to be able to make Barack Obama a one-term President, Conservative Republican voters - "The voters who turned the tide during the midterm election" - need a candidate that we can "really get behind." Otherwise, it will be the same old story, and as Erik states, we'd be faced with voting for the least of two evils once again, like we had to do with McCain or Dole.

The establishment elites in the
Republican party would pick Erik's cat if it turned out it was progressive enough. However, a writer (signed in as divemustgo) in the facebook comments at the end of Erik's column pointed out that Erik's cat would not suit the needs of the RINOs (Republicans in name only):
I'm liking Erik's cat over Romney at this point.

I asked Erik's cat what he thought of Obamacare and he said, "Ow." Then I asked him which Chinese dictator Obama most resembled and he said, "Mow."

With strong arguments like those, I think Erik's cat could beat Mitt in a debate, paws down.
So, the question remains if the GOP leadership will once again give us another lukewarm "least-of-two-evils" nominee, or will the Republican voters take charge and nominate a Conservative? Is there really a way to overcome the establishment elite in the GOP and MSM to keep them from choosing a candidate just a couple clicks to the right of Obama on the political dial?

There was another brilliant observation, by Debbie Shaw O'Bar, in the comments at the end of the column that may answer those questions. To quote her: "A big prob for us in '08 is that LESS THAN 12% of registered Republicans even voted in the primaries!" Yes! That is a major problem, and it is how somebody like John McCain became the Republican nominee. In order to defeat the establishment elite's choice, Conservative registered Republicans are going to need to get to the primaries and caucuses in early 2012 in much larger numbers than has happened in the past.

The bottom line
is, as the title of Erik's column suggests, that now isn't the time to settle for whoever the establishment elite pushes on us. To win the general election and defeat Barack Obama, we need a candidate that we can get very excited about in November of 2012. This country desperately needs a Conservative leader, not a reader. Should we get anybody that is anything less, it wouldn't surprise me if the leading write-in vote is "Erik's cat" in November 2012.  I'm just sayin'...

There are many fundamental facts of life that are simpler than we humans tend to make them. These are far simpler still than recognized "experts" would have us believe they are; this is because they often stand to receive ego gratification and/or power as a result of so doing.

Geopolitics, for example. Something as simple as "the law of the jungle" is all one really needs to comprehend in order to grasp a working knowledge of geopolitics. If you're weak, you can be taken advantage of; if you're strong, this is less likely. The reason that the rest of the world was able to enjoy the fruits of America's innovation and progress (as well as our charity) over the last 150 years was because we had the might to preserve that which we had built.

Then there's economics. If you consume less than you produce, you have a surplus. If you consume more than you produce, you have problems. Anyone who offers a more complicated or convoluted assessment than that probably has a self-serving agenda.

The selection of a presidential candidate is a lot like that, too – even though the 2012 election cycle promises to be like no other. Sometimes you have a candidate you can really get behind, and sometimes it's a choice between the lesser of two evils. In other unfortunate instances, it just doesn't matter; voters will be screwed no matter what they do. In a perfect America, of course, the first example would be the norm.

America is currently gravitating toward the European model, in which the last of the above examples will be the norm forever after. Right now, factions in the Republican Party are trying to find one of the first, someone we can get fired up about. Unfortunately, there are also those in the GOP who would make it another 2008 race, pitting the lesser of two evils against one another yet again.

Obama is a centrist! Yippee! ~ By Victoria Jackson

I was so impressed with Joe Wilson's moment of gut-felt honesty spurting out that I painted his name on my arm. Judge Alito mouthed the words, "That's not true." He's my hero, too.

The following video is of the Sept. 12, 2009, Westwood tea party in California:

Video provided by PasadenaTeaParty ~ September 14, 2009

What if, just what if, Obama is the enemy, one of the Van Jones/William Ayers/Jeremiah Wright/Jarrett/Soros America-haters who are secretly intent on destroying America from the ground up and the top down? If that is the truth, Obama is succeeding.

You know that little lie detector part of your brain that knew my photograph at the top of this article was not taken in 2011, but in 1980? Use that when you listen to Obama.

Video provided by TheFischers ~ January 21, 2011

Actions speak louder than words.
Victoria Jackson continues on from where Robert Ringer left off in his column (Moving to the middle?) on the same day. As Mr. Ringer stated, we have to "totally ignore everything he says and watch closely everything he does." Victoria expands on that by letting us know that we need to be keeping in mind all of Obamessiah's lies. If anyone really believes that Obama will now move to the middle, they haven't been keeping their "truth detector" turned on.

And by the way, I think that Victoria may have been sending an apology to Glenn Beck by including the first video above in this column. She was a little rough on Glenn in her previous two columns. I'm just sayin'...

Jan. 26, 2011: Me at home in Miami

Wow! Obama's not a communist anymore! He's a centrist! Yippee!

Because I am now a Women Impacting the Nation mother, or WIN, I force myself to watch the boring State of the Union speech when I get home from Teenager's piano solo at a school event. I have a splitting headache because I am trying to fast and pray this week. I made it to three days.

Don't I look thinner and younger in my picture above?

O is reading his teleprompter. He is trying so hard to look like a conservative capitalist. The 2010 elections showed him that some of us are on to him. I've got his number. I've studied him. I don't want to. I'd rather study French or cooking or art. But, we mothers have to save America for our children.

(Has anyone noticed that whenever O does any small thing that is not communist, the stock market goes up? Our economy is desperate for a capitalist leader.)

In his stupid speech, the new Obama uses capitalist words like "competition" and "invent!" He says he will "consider" changes to Obamacare and tort reform! Centrist, centrist, centrist! O doesn't accidentally say "spread the wealth" or 57 states or "my Muslim faith!" (Well, he is reading from the friggin' teleprompter.)

Then, he criticizes oil companies. I guess that's to please the left. His "innovate" means government programs. His "invest" means spend money we don't have. He says "freeze on spending" and then he says spend on railways (no one uses). How do you spend and not spend? It's doublespeak. George Orwell's "1984." He thinks he's pleasing "both sides of the aisle." He mentions "amnesty for illegals." Ben Stein said, "Fathom the odd hypocrisy that the government wants every citizen to prove they are insured, but people don't have to prove they are citizens." O then says, "Tax the rich (the job-creators)." That's code for "spread the wealth," the anthem of "The Communist Manifesto." He's got to keep his commies happy. They put him there, they and the centrists.

Then he says, "Win the future!" quoting Newt Gingrich's book! Obama is one of us!

Not.

The communist has begun his 2012 campaign for the dumb people. Rumor has it that Obama high-fived Michelle backstage after his speech at the Arizona victims' memorial.

The tea party prevented Obama's takeover. People like me are on top of him, watching his every snakey lie. That thing called taqiyya allows Muslims to lie for Allah. (To me, it looked like O choked on the word "God" when he said "God bless America" at the end of his speech.)

Whew. Well, I did my duty. I watch the pundits and the response. Paul Ryan and Michele Bachmann give very truthful, fact-filled speeches. Ryan and Bachmann have the transparency, wisdom and integrity that will save our country.

Of course you realize this means war ~ By Erik Rush

Assuming we have enough willing representation among those who took office yesterday, our job has just begun. Keeping this administration at bay while we work toward ousting as many more Washington elites as possible in 2012 will not be easy. But keep them at bay we must, and we must educate our neighbors, so they understand the imperative.

Our job has just begun, and as Erik Rush mentions, we need to keep up our vigilance. There are many signs that Obama and elitist cronies in Washington D.C. are not about to give up on their radical left agenda, even though Obama got "shellacked" on November 2, 2010.

Like his key staff who have left, or are leaving. Just yesterday, the White House announced that press secretary Robert Gibbs would step down next month. It goes without saying that we can't expect the sort of analysis from the press that we used to; once upon a time, such defections would signal the death knell for an administration. The list of those staff members who started out with Obama and will remain with the president when he finishes his term is growing very short, but we're not to surmise it's like rats fleeing a sinking ship or anything.

So, is there any significance to the number of people leaving the Obama administration? Watch the following video, and then you decide.

Please note:  To see the following video, you must be logged in to Facebook.

It seems that Obama wants to change his appearance to look like a moderate, for the benefit of the Press. But look out, that may not be what is really happening! It may be to just get the Democrat machine rolling for 2012. Oh, wait... Make that the Chicago Machine.

Of course you realize this means war

Shortly after the midterm election in November, the host of a news-analysis show asked me if I thought that President Obama would move to the center – or at least appear to do so – given the outcome of the election, or if I thought he didn't have it in him.

I responded emphatically that I believed the latter was the case, likening the president to some sort of B-movie genetically engineered creature who was bred expressly for the purpose of rendering the coup de grâce to a wounded America.

No, he didn't have it in him, and whatever his devices – even if his modus operandi were modified – the goals would remain the same.

And that's how things are turning out. The only conciliations this president appears to have made are in his words, and even many of those contain equivocation and sinister allusion to his intention to adhere to his unpopular – and more importantly, radical – agenda.

With respect to GOP overtures to repeal Obamacare, for example, the president said that he expects Republicans to "play to their base for a certain period of time." This infers a mere divergence in policy and political maneuvering on the part of the Democrats and the GOP.

But those days are over.

In short, it is war – a war between factions of socialist elites and constitutionalist, liberty-loving Americans. If this sounds a bit trite to you, that's fine, but if it sounds over-the-top, you're still hitting the snooze button.

It has never been more clear that all but a handful of politicians in Washington are America's enemies, and that these factions of ruling elites have no care for the fact that they are operating outside of the law. Obama's attitude belies the life-and-death struggle currently in progress. Rest assured that many career politicians do suppose that after this "certain period of time," they can all get back to politics as usual: Communists, socialists and plain old self-aggrandizing, avaricious politicians will resume gulping greedy draughts at the public teat, while hastily constructing arks of political and pecuniary means for their future escape.

It has also never been clearer that this administration, their kindred cronies and lawmakers intend to utterly disregard those who would preserve a semblance of this republic; the dialogue they employ for public consumption is, at this point, only for those who are already buying their lies. Our protestations are as irrelevant to them as a screaming toddler's insistence that he be allowed to drink from a bottle of bleach.

The record is replete with indicators of where President Obama intends to go, indicators that he has given even since November. From recess appointment, to net neutrality, to continued outrageous recreational expenditures, it is apparent (at least to many of us) that Obama and congressional Democrats intend to operate with all the arrogance of the preceding two years.

And then there are the subtler indicators that Obama will continue his effort to bring about a wholesale collapse of our economy and a rending of our social fabric – all the while blaming it on his predecessors.

How about a regressive tax system? ~ By Robert Ringer

Just before it passed through Congress, Robert Ringer had written about the tax deal that was just signed into law yesterday. While the column discusses Robert's idea about a regressive tax system, I have included two excerpts below where Robert brings up specific points about the deal that he has a problem with. Now that Congress has included a 13 month extension to unemployment benefits, (and raised the estate tax back up to 35%, which wasn't mentioned in the column), he feels that it "would offset much, if not all, of that illusory economic stimulus by bleeding vast sums into idle hands."

How about a regressive tax system?

How refreshing it was to read Rep. Michele Bachmann's choice of words when she said, "I called for the current tax rates to be made permanent for all Americans." Finally, a Republican who refuses to use the term "Bush tax cuts" when alluding to our current tax rate.

As I have repeatedly pointed out, when politicians and media pundits talk about the "Bush tax cuts," they clearly are implying that the normal, acceptable tax rates are whatever they were before President Bush reduced them. Claire McCaskill recently summed up this warped far-left viewpoint when she said, "If they think it's OK to raise taxes for the embattled middle class because … we don't GIVE more money to millionaires, it really is time for people in America to pick up pitchforks."

I understand that lefties like McCaskill are hopeless, but I often wonder if I'm the only one who finds it odd when a Republican legislator says, "You don't raise taxes in the middle of a recession." Such a statement implies that it's OK to raise taxes when times are good. Sorry, but there's no such thing as a good time to raise taxes.

If raising taxes is a bad thing to do during a recession, why would it be a good thing to do when the economy is strong? What would be the objective – to try make a strong economy weak? If high taxes are good for the economy, let's have high taxes permanently. But if they're bad for the economy, let's get rid of them altogether.

Republicans will be shooting themselves in the foot if they finalize a deal that includes an extension of unemployment benefits. Why don't we stop kidding ourselves and admit that this insidious transfer-of-wealth program is evolving into a guaranteed minimum income (via never-ending extensions). Sorry, Nancy, but unemployment benefits accomplish just three things: They 1) increase the deficit, 2) cause unemployment and 3) slow economic growth.

No one knows the exact degree of the tradeoff, but the big picture is that in a compromise scenario people would get to keep more of their own money because taxes would not be increased (for now), and some would use it as an opportunity to expand their businesses and create jobs. But the increase in unemployment benefits would offset much, if not all, of that illusory economic stimulus by bleeding vast sums into idle hands.

VIDEO: Herman Cain Tells Cavuto He Is ‘Prayerfully Considering’ 2012 Campaign

Robert Stacy McCain (the other McCain) tells us a little about Herman Cain, former CEO of Godfather's Pizza, and provides a video with Herman telling Neil Cavuto that he is considering a run for the presidency in 2012.

My favorite part of the column, though, was what McCain wrote at the very end:

The multimillionaire former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza was slamming “back-door welfare” in the compromise tax deal when the host — who loves Herman, because everybody loves Herman — asked him about his frequent hints that he’s going to run for president:

Herman Cain says presidential bid may be coming real soon

“We are looking at doing an exploratory committee real soon,” he says. You could compare Cain’s 2012 campaign to Steve Forbes’ 1996 campaign — which Forbes used to push his limited-government, pro-business, supply-side, flat-tax agenda — with one key difference: Cain is infinitely more charismatic than Forbes.

Having seen Cain speak at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in March, I’m here to tell you that no one — not even Sarah Palin – elicits the kind of enthusiasm from a GOP crowd that Herman gets. Tea Party people love him. If he can put together a solid campaign organization and avoid gaffes or scandals, it’s not hard to see Herman Cain placing in the top three in the Iowa caucus.

Conviction: What conservatives lack ~ By Robert Ringer

Just after the election on November 2, 2010, I wrote the following tweet:
Republicans, do not ever, ever COMPROMISE!! Read this for further information: http://bit.ly/9M9UhM
It was my worst fear that once the election was over, and especially once the new Republican-controlled House of Representatives was seated in January, that Conservative Republicans would start compromising in order to get their bills passed. Compromise is the negation of conviction! One of the definitions of compromise that I read is, "a settlement of differences by mutual concessions; an agreement reached by adjustment of conflicting or opposing claims, principles, etc., by reciprocal modification of demands." Now, when you read what Robert Ringer says about the difference between "preference" and "conviction," and you will understand why I so vociferously told the Conservative Republicans NEVER EVER compromise!

Thomas Paine could just as well have been referring to the year 2010 when he said, "These are the times that try men's souls." Valley Forge was an epoch event in our history, an event that played a major role in giving birth to the greatest nation the world has ever known. But today men's souls are being tested at a time when that same nation is collapsing before our very eyes.

Which brings us back to preference versus conviction. When the American Revolutionaries made a choice to declare themselves free of King George III, they pledged to each other "their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor." Their desire to be free of the king's tyranny was not a preference; it was a conviction. They made the choice to risk death by standing by their belief that they had a natural right to be free.

Today, politicians are not faced with death if they do not go along with popular opinion. Instead, they are faced with the possibility of being voted out of office. I say, bless those progressive politicians who are still willing, even after the recent bloodbath elections, to vote for what they sincerely believe in – more government control over people's lives and more redistribution of wealth. But a pox on those conservatives who claim to believe that these things are immoral, yet vote for legislation such as extending unemployment benefits on the grounds that it's "the compassionate thing to do."

An even worse excuse that we often hear politicians use is that "anyone who is familiar with the way Washington works knows that you never get everything you want – that compromise is the only way you can ever get anything done." Translation: They are devoid of convictions.

Washington is leaking oil ~ By Herman Cain

The oil light is on, and the Democrats still don't seem to have a clue.
As Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., and others have stated, Washington still does not get it. The Democrats still do not get it. They did not hear the very loud message of the election results. Stop ignoring the people!
It was a good analogy by Herman Cain to explain how you can know that you have some severe problems to deal with, but yet, your priorities have nothing to do with taking care of the problems facing this country. It seems that the Democrats are only happy when they do things to try to satisfy their leftist base. That is not good for the rest of us.

Washington is leaking oil

My first car as a teenager was an old car with a lot of problems, but at least it was functional. It had an oil leak, and I could not afford to get the leak fixed. It was cheaper for me to add oil occasionally to prevent the engine from totally locking up, or worse yet, catching fire.

The president, his administration and Congress are functionally leaking oil, and the American people are nervous about a total government shutdown, or worse yet, economic collapse. We are not too big to fail as some people seem to believe, and Uncle Sam does not have a "sugar daddy" to bail us out.

Leaking of classified information by WikiLeaks has compromised our national security, and has put our military warriors in and out of uniform at risk. We have yet to see definitive action by the administration to address the issue, even though we have seen and heard a lot of news stories that make us uncertain that the situation is under control.

Economic uncertainty continues to thwart economic growth while Congress and the administration continue to bicker over extending the existing tax rates. Extending all of the tax rates is the right thing to do for the economy, instead of playing class warfare once again to try to gain a political victory.

If Congress and the president do not act, then we will all see tax increases on Jan. 1, 2011. This would be a devastating blow to our economy. A sense of urgency by Washington does not seem to be a priority, as if they have the option to extend the 2010 calendar year. Thankfully, they do not.

Why compromise is deadly ~ By Erik Rush

Erik starts out by discussing what is happening in Europe, and what happens when socialist states run out of other people's money:
In Europe, they break things, set fires and attack the police. This is because the sense of entitlement has been so thoroughly inculcated into Europeans' worldview. Their inordinate dependence upon the state causes them to perceive such deprivations as you might if someone stole from your home.
The problem is, the President sees things the same way the Europeans do, and Erik explains why that will make it impossible for the newly elected Republicans to be able to compromise with the Barack Obama and his minions. In fact, it seems as though the new Republicans are going to have to get a little obstreperous with those on the other side of the aisle.

The obvious point upon which a few prominent commentators have expounded – and which altogether too many Americans have yet to learn – is that there is no such thing as compromise with an adversary whose objectives are diametrically opposed to your own. If the pilot of a jetliner wishes to slam the aircraft into a mountain and the copilot does not, there's no compromise; the copilot must neutralize the pilot if he or she wishes to save the passengers.

How many Republican lawmakers are on the same page with those who voted for reform in November? That is, unfortunately, hard to say. It would appear that a few who are leading the conservative charge "get it," as it were, but nearly 50 years of political gamesmanship and visionless, progressive Republican politicians have bred an understandable cynicism among the electorate.

Obama doesn't have it in him to "move to the center" substantially, as did Bill Clinton after the 1994 midterm election, and as some naïve pundits have predicted. Republican lawmakers will, quite frankly, have to be politically brutal with those across the aisle, and with this gross caricature of a president, employ methods and measures that will cause their more moderate colleagues to quiver with revulsion within their gelatinous, invertebrate carcasses.

And engaged Americans must remain as engaged as they were this summer and fall, and at such levels, for many years to come.

John Bolton thinking of running for president

John Bolton, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, tells Aaron Klein that he is considering a run for President in 2012. His main issues are national security and foreign policy, which he feels that Barack Obama has been very weak on.

John Bolton
John Bolton, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, announced today he is considering a bid for U.S. president in 2012.

It was his first direct response to months of Internet speculation that he may join the next presidential race.

Bolton was speaking to WND senior reporter Aaron Klein on the latter's investigative radio show on WABC in New York.

"Yes, I am considering it," Bolton said when asked if he is considering a 2012 presidential run. "I am very concerned about the direction of national security policy."

Continued Bolton: "I am concerned that we hardly talk about it at national level debates in the mainstream media. The president, as they say, just seems to view national security issues as an irritation, as a distraction from what his real priorities are."

Platform for the 21st century ~ By Henry Lamb

Henry Lamb introduces us to a book by Beverly Eakman, "A Common Sense Platform for the 21st Century." It sounds like a great book, and I will definitely read it, eventually. I am especially curious about what Beverly writes about the political party system and "the effectiveness and potential of third-party initiatives."

This post is just an FYI about a book we should all read, and therefor, there will be no further commentary on my part. Just sayin'...

The book concludes with an insightful discussion of the political party system in the United States, and particularly the effectiveness and potential of third-party initiatives. Eakman examines the role the media play in advancing or destroying political agendas, noting that it is common practice among socialists to ignore the opposition agenda and destroy people who advance an opposing agenda. This tactic was especially successful in the Delaware and Nevada Senate races where the opposition candidates were unmercifully demeaned personally, with no attention paid by the media to the issues the candidates advanced.

This platform for the 21st century could not have arrived at a better time. With the new Congress convening after the holidays, and the next presidential election cycle already under way, this book should be required reading for every elected official, every candidate, campaign worker and, indeed, for every American.

Editor's note: Listen to this column online.

Pundits, politicians, and even ordinary people are mystified by the rise of the tea parties' protest of the Democrats' agenda. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called the spontaneous uprising from the grass roots "Astroturf" – just before she lost her gavel to the Republicans. King George imposed his agenda over the objections of subjects – just before he lost both his subjects and his colonies to the power of people in pursuit of freedom.

Once again, people are rising up in defense of freedom against a "… Marxist-like takeover of Congress in 2008 … that launched audacity and intimidation to new heights," says Beverly Eakman in her latest book, titled "A Common Sense Platform for the 21st Century." Eakman contends that the nation may well be at a point in history quite similar to the days leading to the revolution, in which the people had to decide whether to accept the status quo or risk treasure, and even life, to enjoy the freedom endowed by the Creator.

Her concise 120-page book uses the first chapter to analyze the state of the nation and the reasons for it. Eakman, herself an educator, takes direct aim at the nation's education system for training generations of people to focus on the collective rather than the individual, and on government largesse rather than individual responsibility. This emphasis has taught too many people that freedom is less important than comfort. Consequently, she says, "Our nation is devolving into just one more overbearing, top-heavy bureaucracy that controls through intimidation, red tape, paperwork and redistribution under some convenient pretext." Eakman further observes:
Thanks to 40 years of watered-down schooling, most of today's adults do not recall exactly how we got where we are now. Consequently, many of us have become closet Marxist-socialists without even realizing it.
The rise of the tea parties is evidence of a growing rebellion among people unwilling to accept this current reality. This is a time of great opportunity, or great danger. It is a time to realize that the future cannot be left to any political party, but must be guided by solid, proven principles. Eakman examines these principles in the context of current issues. Chapter 2 categorizes America's most pressing issues: constitutional powers; founding ideals; national sovereignty; criminal justice and law enforcement; national defense; economic stability; health care; research; environment; and education. These issues must be addressed from the perspective of constitutional principles, not political expedience.

Chapter 3 is devoted to identifying specific examples of the "train of abuses and usurpations" imposed by a federal government that has been allowed to grow well beyond the size and power ever intended by the founders. As an example of the federal government's ridiculous misuse of power, Eakman offers the required pat down or X-ray of every air traveler to protect against terrorists, while abandoning a 32-mile stretch along the Mexican border where law-enforcement officers are not allowed, for fear of damaging an endangered species. This makes the entire area a safe-zone for smugglers, terrorists and illegal immigrants to enter anytime they wish. Additional examples of current abuses fill Chapter 4. In a very few pages, Eakman provides solid evidence of a government run amok.

The principles that must guide the development and implementation of a 21st-century platform must include: fiscal responsibility; constitutionally limited government; free markets; and an environment of integrity, decency and self control. Chapter 5 gets more specific in its identification of the principles that must be honored: private property rights; non-intervention in the marketplace by government entities; reversal of entitlements and redistribution policies; rededication to America, as opposed to self-defeating "globalization" polices.

Beautiful, liberty-protecting gridlock ~ By Robert Ringer

You will easily understand what Robert Ringer is explaining in this column. Now that the Republicans have won the majority in the House, they can stop any legislation that erodes our freedom any further. Well, at least they will be able to once the 112th Congress convenes. However, what is done during the lame duck session of the 111th Congress between now and the end of the year may be more difficult to stop.

And then there is also the problem of what the Obama administration will do from now until his term ends. You never know how he might use regulatory agencies like the EPA to advance any agenda that he can't get through Congress. Or, he might just decide to allow the Federal Reserve to start printing money so that he can monetize our national debt. Oh, wait, he's already getting ready to do that. And as Michelle Malkin discusses in the video below, timing is everything:

Video provided by TheREALjohnny2k

The problem is, the timing of the debt monetization and devaluing our currency is going to cause some big problems for most Americans, in the form of inflation. When the price of groceries and gas for our cars start to spiral out of control, Americans are going to become very unhappy. Of course, back in 1980, when we had out of control inflation, it worked out very well for the country, as we were able to make Jimmy Carter a one term President, and elect President Ronald Reagan. And possibly, it could be a good thing for us again in 2012, when we elect Sarah Palin.

However, it could also be a very bad thing to live through between now and November of 2012. Umm, I'm thinking something like the end of the Weimar Republic in 1933. I can just see President Obama using his state-run propaganda machine, otherwise known as the mainstream media, in the summer of 2012, telling the American people that it is all the fault of the Republican-lead House for not passing legislation to help out the poor people who are by then rioting in the streets. And you have already seen it in the last election that recently fired many Democrats. I rarely went a day without hearing Obama and the Democrats talking about how the Republicans were responsible for not getting things done (that the American people didn't even want!).

But, it isn't rocket-science to comprehend how public disorder, or rioting, could change things. Would the Republicans stick to fiscal Conservatism and the Constitution if they are being blamed for an economic collapse?

Timing is everything. Just sayin'...

I could go on and on, but, in the end, what the midterm elections were really all about was freedom. Clearly, though I doubt most people realize it, freedom is what underlies most of the economic problems that dominate the daily news. And if a staunch Marxist is allowed to hold the reins of power much longer, Americans might just lose forever what's left of their rapidly shrinking supply of that most precious of all commodities.

That said, Mitch McConnell is right. Let's all make a commitment to bring an end to the hope-and-change, fundamental-transformation-of-America policies of Chairman Obama in 2012.
Beautiful, liberty-protecting gridlock

By Robert Ringer

© 2010

The biggest story about the midterm elections is one that seems to have escaped most conservatives, to wit:

While it's true that slightly more than half of those who voted sent a signal to Washington that they want government to drastically decrease spending, taxes and regulation, the painful reality is that slightly less than half of the voters cast their ballots in favor of Democratic candidates who, with just a few notable exceptions, want to increase spending, taxes and regulation.

I would thus caution overly exuberant Republicans that reports of the death of the progressive movement in this country have been grossly exaggerated. Many Republican victories, such as John Kasich's win over George Strickland and Pat Toomey's victory over Joe Sestak, were by razor-thin margins. Even where a race was won by as much as 15 points, that still translated into more than 40 percent of the voters giving their stamp of approval to BHO's ultra-progressive agenda.

So, what does this all mean? First, and most obvious, it means that if those people (especially the shameless swing voters, most of whom are driven by that great human defect known as instant gratification) who voted for winning Republican candidates are disappointed by what happens in Washington over the next two years, many of them might very well vote for the hope-and-change stuff again in 2012. Hmm … seems I once read something about what happens to those who do not remember the lessons of history.

I get concerned whenever I hear media talking heads blather about the need for the two parties to "come together" and show a willingness to compromise so they can "get something done." Talk about not getting it. The true tea partiers don't want Republicans to "come together" with their Democratic counterparts who want bigger government, more spending, more taxes more regulation – and less liberty.

They don't want the people they just voted into office to slow the growth of government spending; they want government spending drastically cut. They don't want the "Bush tax cuts" extended; they want more tax cuts. They don't want closer oversight of the EPA; they want the EPA defunded – or, better yet, eliminated. No need to go on; you get the idea.

But won't this kind of attitude on the part of Republicans cause gridlock? Yes! It will cause beautiful, progressive-stifling, liberty-protecting gridlock. Those who propelled tea-party candidates into office don't want the government to "get something done" if that means enacting more laws and finding new and more devious ways to increase taxes (e.g., cap-and-trade and huge increases in the money supply).

The only thing they want politicians to do is repeal all unconstitutional laws already on the books, get out of the way of entrepreneurs and the private sector, and focus on protecting the lives and property of all U.S. citizens. Whether a citizen happens to be "rich" or "poor" is irrelevant – and, quite frankly, none of the government's business. While the concern of some politicians for the perceived hardship of any particular group may make for an interesting sociological or philosophical discussion, it does not give them the right to forcibly redistribute the assets of others.

Keeping all this in mind, I have to give credit to establishment Republican Mitch McConnell, who demonstrated that he understood perfectly the message of the electorate when he said that his party's No. 1 objective is to make Barack Obama a one-term president. This, of course, brought about feigned indignation from the left.

But McConnell stuck to his guns in a speech to a Heritage Foundation audience when he said, "… if our primary legislative goals are to repeal and replace the health spending bill, to end the bailouts, cut spending and shrink the size and scope of government, the only way to do all these things is to put someone in the White House who won't veto any of these things."

Why in the world wouldn't your No. 1 objective be to get rid of the head honcho who's calling the progressive shots from the White House? It's an over-arching objective that should begin immediately and continue, in full-court-press fashion, over the next two years.
