Dear skeptics and critics ... ~ By Herman Cain

I realize that the road to the nomination and the White House is long and difficult. I know we will encounter many new challenges along the way and that many people see my chances as against the odds.

When one considers that I am up against the skeptics, the critics, the establishment, the Democrats, the liberals, gotcha journalism, a liberal-leaning mainstream media, the challenges of raising campaign funds and a host of other candidates seeking the same objectives, my candidacy is against the odds.

But then, that's been the story of my life and my career.

Maybe my middle name should have been David. He defeated a giant against the odds.

I am so totally pumped about Herman Cain! He has a major amount of courage that I've not seen in a Republican candidate for a long, long, time. Since the Reagan years, there really hasn't been a Republican ticket that was able to get me excited.

Sure, I was thrilled with George W. Bush, but he was all we had. Unfortunately, "W" disenfranchised many of the most Conservative among us Republicans by the time his term was over. TARP and immigration policy, along with the Ramos and Compean Border Patrol agents that never should have been prosecuted, were policies that were very discouraging for me and many of my fellow Conservatives.

Let me explain my opening statement about finally having a man with courage running for the GOP nomination. There is no doubt in my mind that Herman answers some of the questions on the minds of many when it comes to what some Conservative pundits have said recently. The rap on Herman is his lack of government experience and lack of name recognition. Those things were supposedly Herman Cain's major weaknesses. When you read this column, you'll find that Herman addresses those questions with great ease. Not only does he answer those questions, he actually turns those lemons into lemonade.

When I hear the pundits say there is nothing that is exciting about the current field of potential Republican candidates, they are making a huge mistake. Really, I'd much rather hear them saying that it's hard to choose amongst the strong talent that is taking on the challenge to beat the current incumbent! I can't believe that they are trying to throw another election! What's wrong with them? And do you really want to listen to the establishment that ended up giving us John McCain?

My commentary here with this column is based on what I wrote in a note on my facebook page last Saturday, May 28: "Don't bash the other GOP candidates! (However, Trump Trashing is allowed.)" How about if we just try to lift up any of the GOP candidates even if they are rivals of our favorites that we support?  In other words, I'd be the first to admit that a Palin/Cain ticket would work for me!

Republicans should want somebody that has it in his or her heart to WIN. Obama needs to be defeated in 2012. So, let's get serious about backing a candidate that could not only win the election, but also win the hearts of the American people. We have a lot of work to do. We need to restore the hopes and dreams of Americans if we are going to pull out of this funk that we've been experiencing. Did you hear that the housing market is getting worse? We need to get the confidence of the American people back up. That's what it will take to get the economy back in gear! And I think that gutsy Herman Cain guy is one that can do that. Just watch his latest video!

Wow! I must be causing some people quite a concern as a candidate for the Republican nomination for president. The establishment skeptics are still stuck in the traditional campaign paradigm of immediate name ID, lots of money and experience in a worthy elective office. The critics are pounding on what they perceive as my weaknesses. And the Democratic National Committee now has me on its radar and is sharpening its blades for a Cain attack.

No one is more emblematic of the Republican establishment than Karl Rove. He has an unmatched political record from his tenure with former president George W. Bush. I greatly respect and admire what he has accomplished in his career.

But I would suggest that he take a few minutes to review my record as a leader in business and as a problem solver before he dismisses me as the radio talk-show guy from Atlanta with not much to offer as a presidential candidate. Mr. Rove's perspective also suggests that successful business skills are not applicable to changing the "Titanic" course our federal government is on.

People outside the political establishment are starting to recognize that those business skills are applicable. Maybe that's why Cain is rising in the polls.

One of my favorite political commentators, Charles Krauthammer of Fox News, described my candidacy as entertainment. I enjoy his perspectives because he is usually very thoughtful and often correct in his analysis. Unfortunately, this time he got it wrong. Some people would describe being able to give an informative and inspiring speech as an asset, especially if one is running for president.

Maybe doomsday IS near ~ By Joseph Farah

You can choose to believe it or not. It won't make any difference.

But he that touches the apple of God's eye will pay a price: "For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye." – Zechariah 2:8

If you want to understand prophecy, don't listen to Harold Camping – keep your eye on Israel and study your Bible.

Video provided by ppsimmons on May 23, 2011

In light of Harold Camping's erroneous prediction, and the fact that May 21 didn't happen in the way that Camping guaranteed, there are probably some people of the Christian faith that are now disillusioned. That is very sad, and for some of those poor suckers, they are also now financially devastated. That is even sadder! It is what happens to people that listen to the various snake-oil salesmen (who could be called false prophets), rather than reading the Bible for themselves.

It was a no-brainer with this latest prophesy from a crackpot who was wrong twice before. Just start here, at Matthew 24:36 (NIV):

36 But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
Well, I am completely fine with what Joseph Farah says in this column. He's not prophesying. Again, if you have been reading the Scriptures, you would be aware of what Jesus told us in Matthew 24:42-44 (NIV):
42 Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
It is called "being aware of what is going on." That is the purpose of "keeping watch," as I have learned from working in the security industry. So, when you become aware of what may be going on, as you will read about and see in the post, do you ask if we are near the end? Or, do you ask God what you can do to help others be ready? I'm just sayin'...

AMAZING PROPHECY! Happening NOW! Documented! ARE WE NEAR THE END?

Bible prophecy may have a bad name in the light of Harold Camping's misguided date-setting, but the biggest sign of the end may have been overlooked in all the rapture hysteria of last weekend.

Once again, we've seen the U.S. hit with a series of deadly superstorms following Barack Obama's pledge to return Israel to pre-1967 borders.

Just days after Obama insisted Israel must give up lands it won through military victory with its enemies, some 200 people were killed by a tornado in Joplin, Mo.

There's a pattern here.

We saw it in Katrina, when George Bush forced Israel's withdrawal from Gaza. In fact, as everyone from Israeli rabbis to U.S. senators have noted, it seems to happen every single time the U.S. pressures Israel to divide the land.

The phenomenon was best documented by Bill Koenig, author of "Eye to Eye: Facing the Consequences of Dividing Israel."

Koenig points out that nine of the 10 costliest insurance events in U.S. history followed dramatic calls by U.S. officials for Israel to make land concessions in bids for peace with its neighbors. He points out with startling detail how six of the seven costliest hurricanes in U.S. history followed such events. He points out how three of the four largest tornado outbreaks in U.S. history followed such developments.

Earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, even terrorist attacks have hit America often within 24 hours of calls by U.S. officials for Israel to withdraw from Jewish land.

What does this have to do with prophecy?

It goes right back to Genesis and God's pledge to bless those who bless the children of Israel and curse those who curse them.

That is a prophecy that has seen every empire of the world come and go – yet Israel remains. It may be chastened by God. It may be dispersed. It may be divided according to His will. But God has punished every nation that has come against Israel. Each one has been judged.

There's trouble in Obama's Paradise ~ By Erik Rush

There is trouble in Paradise. Obama and his haughty, arrogant minions are not as confident as they portray themselves to be. The exit of key advisers and Cabinet members indicates this, as does the dissolution of support within his base. Aside from the seemingly imprudent measures many agree Obama has taken, others appear blatantly self-destructive in the political sense. There have been murmurings of secret informants leaking information to press sources, of fear, shock and disgust among people who either work or have worked in this administration.

To add to this, the president doesn't look good. While many chief executives experience marked aging in the job, Obama looks increasingly drawn and stressed. One can only speculate as to whether he has sought chemical assistance in managing himself during his presidency, but I have heard it suggested. And while I'm no physician, I've enough experience with chemical dependency to say that I would not be surprised, given his demeanor and comportment in recent months. As I write this, Obama is creating a train wreck of decorum during his trip to the United Kingdom, babbling insensibly to Irish citizens who entertained him, botching a toast to the queen and forgetting what year it was.

Asking an individual what year it is, as you may be aware, is one of the often-employed indicators of mental capacity when a head injury or psychological impairment is suspected.
I realized something today. The column written by Erik Rush touched on about every emotion I hold at this time. I can not add to it. In fact, I've been finding that thought hitting me in the face quite often, lately:

The goal is to defeat President Obama.

So, after long, prayerful consideration, I believe that I've made the correct decision: I have decided not to run for President in 2012. We (Republicans) have many potential candidates to choose from. Enough, already! If we're divided by choosing between a Conservative and a Moderate, it will be another 2008. In fact, is there really any way for us to unite in the GOP? Do we really need more candidates in the mix? Isn't it about time to quit throwing hats into the ring?

Enough, already!

Just remember this, and I'll say it once again: The goal is to defeat President Obama.

United we win and survive, for our children and grandchildren. Divided we fall. I'm just sayin'...

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Within the Christian concept of spiritual warfare, the notion is that the outward manifestations of evil and strife in our lives and in the world are but a representation of the exertions of evil forces in unseen planes of existence. Given such a scenario, it is easy to see how unbelievers (non-Christians) would remain wholly oblivious to the significance of developments on either side.

Likewise, there are a host of occurrences taking place in America and on the world stage of which most people are ignorant. I speak not of shady, sinister New World Order conspiracies, but of events and machinations that lie in plain sight (at least to some), but which have gleaned little attention, either by design or because we have been conditioned to complacency and intellectual indolence.

Conservative news junkies are well apprised of President Obama's craven betrayal of the nation of Israel (vis-à-vis his declaration that borders for Israel and a new Palestinian state should be based on those in existence in 1967), as well as his having subsequently backpedaled those statements in the face of a popular backlash. Now, they are witnessing the likely disintegration of American Jewish support for Obama; since most American Jews are not blind leftist ideologues, they are beginning to seriously question the president's Israel policy and perhaps his very worldview where the Jewish people are concerned.

My assessment is that this is a no-brainer; the worldview with which Obama was raised, coupled with such things as his affiliations with anti-Semitic factions and individuals (The Nation of Islam's Louis Farrakhan and Rev. Jeremiah Wright, to name but two) and his tenure at Trinity United Church in Chicago speak for themselves. They reek of anti-Semitism. Why would one be surprised that he's leaving Israel to the wolves?

Not just leaving that nation to the wolves; actually, Obama has executed the equivalent of starving the wolves and pouring meat sauce on our ally. As reported by WND in February, Obama emissaries fomented riots and the subsequent chaos in Egypt, in order to oust that nation's government and position the Muslim Brotherhood for the installation of an Islamist regime. The president has also taken an inordinately aggressive and presumptuously dynamic role in addressing unrest in the Middle East.

Yet Obama continues to prattle on about the "struggle for democracy" in which the oppressed in Muslim nations seek to overthrow their autocratic overlords. In truth, Obama is helping to set the stage for Islamist regimes to replace those of the autocrats, thus essentially sealing Israel's fate, as advocated by his own National Security Council special adviser Samantha Power.

Apparently, the left is attempting to redefine the concept of democracy itself, as it increasingly ascribes the term to that which more strongly resembles collectivist totalitarianism.

The high-tech battle against scammers ~ By Phil Elmore

Obviously, the illegitimate "collection agency" in question is a boiler-room operation whose goal is to frighten people into paying bills they do not owe. Armed with a little customer information (information they surely acquired illegally, either through hacking and identity theft or by some other means), they are, essentially, bluffing. They tell a customer that he or she owes the money and that customer, fearful of being "sent to collections" and having a corresponding credit blot, sends the money to make the problem go away.

As savvy consumers in a technologically connected age, we cannot afford to be complacent. We also cannot afford to give in to fear, to intimidation tactics and to brazen lies. If you are told you owe money, especially for a long overdue debt, take the time to research the problem. Only armed with information can you fight scam artists and thieves.

Before battle is joined, you must understand what you do not know. It is not enough to know that you don't understand.

I personally know people that have been victims of scams. In fact, while I was still working on this post today, I found out that a friend was the victim of his debit/credit card being used by an unauthorized person just last night, for over $1,000!! I am sure that all us know somebody that has been been burned by some type of scam, fraud, or cyber-theft, and hopefully one of those people isn't the person you see in the mirror. The reason that I chose this column to write about today is because I hope to help prevent any of my readers - and whoever they share this with (hint, hint) - from becoming victims!

Phil Elmore's column deals with a fraud scenario where the scammers were using a collection notice and lying about a debt that is owed. Because the potential victim used his technological resources that Phil mentions here, he was able to avoid getting scammed out of over $900.00. But, in the age of technology with the world wide web, email, and smart phones, there are so many ways that the criminals can scam people out of their hard earned money.

In the case of Phil's friend, the scam he focuses on involves a criminal ring, that should they be apprehended, will face some serious federal charges, including both mail (the bogus collection notice) and wire (the phone conversations) fraud. In the case of my friend, it was bank fraud, and the technologies used to "swipe" his credit card information probably (my theory, only) involved what is called a "point-of-sale skimmer,"

Of course, we've all heard a lot about identity theft lately, especially because of those various commercials on the radio and TV advertising various identity theft security providers. And then, there are all those horrible cases of internet scams, "phishing" being just one kind.

There is no realistic way that I could list all of the possible ways that cyber-crime can happen. I even attempted to try to follow and report on the subject in a forum topic I set up back in 2003, and it was an overwhelming task. I called it, "On a Mission - The Forum." Here is the description for that topic:

This is where the johnny2k.com Cyber-Community can discuss network abuse, or what johnny2k calls "Global Cyber-Terrorism". Are hackers, spammers, and internet scammers committing acts of economic terrorism? Are the people working from home, that utilize the internet for their livelihood, victims of the assault on a vital component of our national and global infrastructure?
You will obviously observe that I saw the seriousness of cyber-crime a long time ago. But my "mission" didn't end when the forum activity dwindled down to nothing toward the end of 2007 (but it still gets many views despite the lack of recent posts!). Thankfully, I am here to tell you that there is an enormous amount of online information that you can use to help prevent you from being a cyber-crime victim. I have a page on my website where I list the links to many great resources to helping you learn about "cyber-terrorism."  (Please note: I haven't had a chance to update the page for awhile, so there will be several "dead links" there. However, the page will be included, and updated, in the planned renovation of johnny2k.com.)

Now, here's the point of what both Phil and I have told you. Phil emphasizes your need to not be intimidated into complacency. Your first mission is to take notice when something doesn't seem right. And what do you do when you do discover a potential threat to your financial well being? That is where my emphasis is, to help you know where to begin educating yourself enough to avoid the problem in the first place.

One of my techie heroes has always been Kim Komando, who says in a promo spot for her radio show, "Just remember, the Nigerians... they contacted ME first. The money's mine." And it is my hope that YOUR money will stay YOURS, and not go to a scammer somewhere in Africa.... or, worse, to a terrorist somewhere in the world.  I'm just sayin'...

We monitor our credit scores more closely than ever before. We are also more directly and immediately connected to those scores. This is a function of technology, of interconnectivity and usability of data. An update to your credit score is only a click away. We are all keenly aware of this, and thus the mere threat of a negative mark on our credit records is enough to scare us into paying bills we don't owe. What this amounts to is technological theft, not through direct hacking and transfers of funds, but through intimidation based on lies. A friend of mine experienced this recently and, using only his smartphone, fought back.

My friend has dentures. He received a set of these that were paid for, in part, by Allcare Dental and Dentures. Some time later, the company abruptly closed its doors. Patients who were scheduled for treatment – patients who, in some cases, had prepaid for products and services – were not notified in any way. They were simply cut off and, to my knowledge, no provision was made to refund their money, except through the usual lengthy and cumbersome legal procedures that occur when a company collapses financially. My friend found out about the cancellation of his insurance while reading the paper. A dental blog summed up the problem thusly:
The company's bare-bones alternate website says their doors are permanently closed. They said that they did not give patients any notice because both their computer network and phone system were abruptly shut down by the network provider.
Allcare shut down so abruptly that it seems inadequate provision was made for Allcare's patients, the transfer of those patients' health-care records, and continuity of patient and corporate financial records. Employees of the company were left with no recourse but to apologize in online discussion forums for what took place; they were left powerless.

Last week, my friend received a notice from a collections company, apparently misrepresenting itself as an arm of a major banking and credit card company. He was told he owed more than $900 for a bad debt relative to Allcare. When he investigated, he was told that his insurance claim was denied and therefore he owed the portion of the bill that his Allcare dental insurance was supposed to have paid.

My friend was certain he had paid the bill and that he had received no such notice from Allcare while the company was still a going concern. He spent the morning on the telephone, tracking down anyone he could find who could give him some insight into the issue. He also did a lot of Internet searching and, before he was done, he was filing a complaint with the state attorney general's office. Using his smartphone, the Internet and common sense, he was able to detect both warning flags of a scam and catch the scammers in their own lies.

'Modern jurisprudence' has emasculated Constitution ~ By Henry Lamb

Congress can control the courts in a variety of ways. The Senate can strongly influence the courts through their advice-and-consent process. Were senators to reject those judicial appointees who believe that "modern jurisprudence" outweighs the clear language of the Constitution, this disease could be eliminated.

Congress can control the courts and the executive branch only if it is populated by individuals who know and believe in the Constitution. The people decide how Congress is populated. It's up to us.

What Henry Lamb examines in this column is important for all of us to be aware of, and should be a guide for us in choosing our candidates in all elections. In Henry's conclusion (above), he says that Congress would need to be "populated by individuals who know and believe in the Constitution" in order to control the courts and the executive branch of our government. I agree, but it needs to go one step further. We can only stop the "modern jurisprudence" in regard to the Constitution if all the individuals inhabiting government offices from the federal level right down to the local government levels know and follow the Constitution.

However, we won't be able to put a halt to the progressive dilution of the Constitution in just one election cycle. It could actually take generations to do so. The deterioration of our Constitution didn't just happen overnight. Too many people that have gone through the public indoctrination centers have been taught that the Constitution is an outdated document that doesn't apply in today's world. It will take a lot of effort to get the academic institutions turned around and teaching the Constitution the way the Founders intended it to mean.

Like Henry Lamb had said, "it's up to us." We can start by trying to elect people into Congress that honor the Constitution, but that is just a start. I'm just sayin'...

Editor's note: Listen to this column online.

When James Madison wrote "… nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation" into the Constitution, he really meant "for public use." Over the years, the courts redefined "public use" to mean "whatever government wants to do with your land." The Kelo v. New London decision drove the final nail into the idea of sacred private property. Another founder, John Adams, said:
Property is surely a right of mankind as real as liberty. … The moment that the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God, and that there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence. Property must be sacred or liberty cannot exist.

Private property is no longer sacred. Government can take your land and give or sell it to another private individual. Government can assume control of your land – which is the defining power of ownership – by simply declaring that a wetland exists, or that an endangered or threatened species may wish to use your land. Government may prevent you from using your private property by simply drawing lines on a map and declaring that your land is in a "conservation" zone.

The Fifth Amendment to the Constitution is not what it used to be. But then neither is the Fourth Amendment, which says quite clearly that:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
The Indiana Supreme Court doesn't understand this clear language. Writing for the court, Justice Steven David said:
We believe ... a right to resist an unlawful police entry into a home is against public policy and is incompatible with modern Fourth Amendment jurisprudence. ...
What on earth is "modern Fourth Amendment jurisprudence" that completely upends the clear language and meaning for the Fourth Amendment?

Modern jurisprudence must mean that courts are no longer bound by the Constitution or the law and can redefine the words to mean whatever the court wants them to mean at the moment. This disease is not limited to the courts, however. It has spread to the White House and to Congress.

I'm running for president ~ By Herman Cain

Video provided by thehermancain on May 18, 2011

Just as money cannot buy happiness, money alone cannot buy the Republican nomination, or even a second term as President Obama hopes to do by raising $1 billion in campaign cash. Although we need enough money to be competitive, money alone will not supersede the voices of an energized and informed electorate. That's what is propelling my campaign into the limelight.

No, I have never held public office before, and I may not know how Washington works, as some have pointed out. But I do not want to learn how to create a $14 trillion national debt, or waste $1 trillion to create a stalled economy and a nine percent unemployment rate or continue to push problems off on future generations.

Our collective vision for America is to change those results for the better with a direct boost to the economy using bold tax reductions, responsible regulatory reductions, a restructuring of social programs and common-sense solutions to our national problems.

As president, my job will be to change Washington, not learn Washington.

Just a little while ago, I wrote a tweet to my friend, @THEHermanCain. I mentioned this:
"With great power comes great responsibility."
Can you even imagine all of the things that our next President, maybe Herman Cain, could face? Would you want that job?

Well, if there was anyone that could, I can assure you that Herman had to keep that in mind in his prayers before he made his decision and announced it last Saturday (May 21, the day the world was supposed to end if you believed Harold Campy).

And speaking of the infamous Harold Campy, I got a call this last weekend from my wonderful brother of my late wife, and a brother in Christ. The Campy prediction of the May 21st Rapture and subsequent end of the world was one of the major topics that we discussed. And so was this topic, the fact that Herman Cain is running for President. The two topics are related. And now, you're saying, "Really?" (I'm psychic.) Yes, really. He reminded me of this:

8 It is better to take refuge in the LORD
than to trust in humans.
9 It is better to take refuge in the LORD
than to trust in princes.
  ~ Psalm 118
And I said in reply, "Exactly!"

I was reminded that there has been but one Savior. Oh, which reminds me... There are people on the other side of the political spectrum that believe(d) that our current President is "The One" that could turn everything around, Back in '08, it was all about Obama saving us all! And the key to accomplishing that desire was supposedly going to be because of a MAN! It just doesn't work that way.

The truth is, it will take a leader that has the right Godly desire in his heart to turn this country around. It will take a great LEADER that can instill the inspiration in us to take part in turning this country around.

Did you get that? The man that will lead this country after this presidential term is over will not be the one that wants the credit for turning things around. I'm sure that Herman Cain is one of the few GOP candidates that understands that truth. Herman seems to understand that it is going to take you and I to actually make the difference in how things are going. It won't hurt for us to have somebody in charge that knows that it isn't up to the government to do it all. It is time for We the People to take charge of the local, state, and federal government bodies. It is what the Founding Fathers were wanting US to do.

Does Herman Cain get it? I am sure he does. He would not have gone to all this trouble if he didn't care about what kind of country this would be for our grandchildren, just like what you and I are concerned about. I'm just sayin'....

"Just to be clear, I'm running for president of the United States of America, and I'm not running for second place."

That was my announcement on May 21 in Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park. It was a high-noon event with more than 15,000 of my closest friends in attendance!

I wanted to be very clear of my intentions because of the usual three reservations expressed by skeptics about a "dark horse" candidate winning the Republican nomination for the presidency. Lack of name recognition, money and experience as a previous office holder are the usual negatives political pundits reference in their skepticism.

My name may not be a household name, but it is a grass-roots recognized name. Just consider the number of straw polls in which I have placed first in the last few months. The Tea Party Patriots summit in Phoenix, the Conservatives Values Conference hosted by Rep. Steve King in Des Moines, Iowa, multiple state Republican Party conventions and, most recently, an online Fox News survey following my official announcement of candidacy on Saturday.

Now my performance in the recent South Carolina presidential debate was not a straw poll, but by most accounts I was viewed the most favorable by a majority of those who saw that exchange among potential candidates, as well as the immediate reaction of a Frank Luntz on-air focus group.

I'm holding back the progression of mankind! ~ By Patrice Lewis

The depressing part is socialism spreads because people like their freebies. They like being dependent. They will passionately vote for the candidate, party and agenda that keeps those freebies flowing. If anyone objects, they are called racist, intolerant and – oh yeah – "holding back the progression of mankind."

Free people are responsible people. They have to be. And the more responsible the people, the fewer laws are needed. But when we stop acting responsibly and start relying on the government for everything, we become a nation of whining victims where nothing is ever our fault and the government assumes the responsibility that should have been ours.

Government interference and the enthusiastic redistribution of wealth will bring this nation to its knees. And it's hard to progress anywhere when you're crawling on your knees.

But socialists will never agree. They simply do not grasp that the advancement of 5,000 years will never PROgress under their form of government. Instead, it will REgress.

So to those who honestly think that socialism results in the progression of mankind, I offer the best intellectual reply I can muster:

Bwahahahahahahaha.

I was a college grad, in the Air Force, and trying to decide how to spend the rest of my life and career after I finished my 4 year commitment (which I extended for another 8 months). And then, in 1980, along came Ronald Reagan, who inspired me to understand why freedom is so important. I began to comprehend why America was the shining city on the hill. The United States was the beacon of freedom, where we had the opportunity to use our God given abilities to get ahead. Well, that was how I thought it was supposed to be. At the same time, I actually started learning about free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and capitalism, and in the same year, I joined Amway.

In the attempt to succeed at Amway, I learned about commitment. I found out that a lot of commitment was needed to succeed, no matter what vehicle you were going to use. I did all that I could to "share the plan by drawing the circles" to as many people as possible! In the process, I learned about failure despite our best efforts. Was it because I wasn't competent enough to teach people how to do the business? No. Was it because I just didn't have the charisma to lead an organization or to inspire people to do what it takes? Maybe.

But, before I explain what I think led to my failure in "the business," I need to assure you that I am not blaming anyone but myself. I'm only telling you about that experience because it fits perfectly with what Patrice explains in this column.

You see, my belief was in the American entrepreneurial spirit, and the precept that everyone has a dream, and if offered an opportunity, would do what ever it took. That was how I was raised. When I was a kid, if I wanted something bad enough, I'd mow a lawn. I did whatever it took. I had the impression that everybody knew that! So, I did my best to try to recruit (sponsor) people that didn't seem to have a way to get ahead. I knew that a lack of education or social status didn't mean that it was impossible to change our financial status if we wanted to bad enough. I believed that there were many people that just needed something that they could do (and I knew how "easy" Amway actually was!), and I was more than willing to help and teach and love them despite their current position in life, despite financial status, skin color or religion.

But when I learned how many people were thinking, it shattered my faith in the American spirit. It was disturbing how many people had lost their dream, and were "dead from the neck up." This was when I found out that if somebody was able to collect on some government entitlements, they weren't willing to even consider committing any effort toward bettering their lives. I found that their dreams were either never there, or had already been extinguished.

So, when you read this terrific column by Patrice, would you please keep in mind that if it was that way over 30 years ago, just how "progressive" are things now? Has "class envy" replaced the work ethic? Yes. And yes, it is really sad that somebody even tried to explain to Patrice why she is "holding back the progression of mankind."

So, how are we supposed to turn around a general societal attitude like that? Maybe there just needs to be a lot more Amway distributors out there, teaching a few people - or even ONE! - at a time about the differences between capitalism and socialism, and that we have to eventually choose between freedom or slavery. And that the truth is, freedom or slavery IS a choice! Nobody (yet) is holding a gun to anyone's head to make that choice. It's just about attitude and hanging out with people that will give you a hand up, rather than a hand out. I'm just sayin'...

I'm holding back the progression of mankind!

I got the funniest email this week. It seems someone found an older column of mine entitled "What is a socialist?" (I'll pause if you care to read it.) Then he sent the following:

You're [sic] excerpt on socialism … is disgusting. Way to bend every little fact you can find to your bias. All you're doing is holding back the progression of mankind.

The sad part is the sender apparently believes what he wrote. Putting aside the amusing presumption that a north Idaho housewife is somehow responsible for arresting the development of the civilized world, I laughed heartily at his last statement.

If an aversion to socialism is holding back the progression of mankind, the corollary is that socialism will advance the progression of mankind. If this is the case, we need only to look at socialist countries, past and present, to gauge the success of how mankind is progressing under that form of government.

Let's see, there's the (former) USSR. North Korea. Venezuela. Cuba. Charming places, all of them. I can hardly wait to arrange my next vacation.

Then there are the (cough) "successful" socialist countries in Europe, which are slowly imploding because (to paraphrase Margaret Thatcher) they finally ran out of other peoples' money.

The usual progressive argument is, "Well, this time it will be different." Um, no. It can never be different because human nature never changes. Those in power will always wish to grow stronger and more in control. Those without power will, sooner or later, lose all incentive and motivation if the fruits of their labor are routinely taken from them. And those who are dependent on government entitlements will do everything they can to stay dependent, and demand more.

Ah, entitlements. That is the crux of the whole ugly scenario. Entitlements, as any sane person knows, means forcibly removing and redistributing personal wealth at the point of a gun. Far too many progressives are delighted to remove other peoples' money and pass it around. They cannot and will not admit that redistribution of wealth is a lose-lose scenario. The earner loses incentive to work harder because it only means more of his money is taken; and the receiver loses the incentive to earn his own because he is supplied with free money. Pretty obvious, right?

Obama's 'worst nightmare' seeks showdown with prez

The HERMANATOR
Cain said he doesn't think he'll have a problem convincing establishment Republicans to accept him as a legitimate candidate.

"They are not going to reject me," he said confidently. "They're going to slowly warm up to me because I think they are starting to see that I'm creating a lot of excitement."

At the Georgia Republican Convention on May 14, Cain was reportedly greeted with 10 standing ovations that dwarfed those given to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

"He defies the media's idea of what a Republican is," one delegate told the Southern Political Report. "He's a black entrepreneur who speaks for everyone. That's something people are warming up to. Plus, he hasn't held [elective] office before, so he has no record that people can take issue with. He's popular."

On "The Rush Limbaugh Show" today, one caller told Limbaugh he is leaning toward voting for Herman Cain in the Republican primary.

"I don't think anybody is a long-shot right now," Limbaugh responded. "There's nothing that says Herman Cain can't win this thing."

But does Cain have what it takes to compete with Obama's massive fundraising efforts?

As one supporter put it, "Obama might be raising $1 billion, but the voters in this country are going to raise some Cain."

WND Reporter Chelsea Schilling wrote a terrific column about Herman Cain. Much of the information in this column will never be reported in the mainstream media. In order for you to receive the full benefit of all that you can find out about Herman Cain from this column, you will need to read the full story. You can then read what Herman considers to be solutions to the issues, including boosting the economy, taxes, energy independence, fixing the nation's entitlement programs, and immigration.

There was an excellent question
Chelsea asked Herman Cain that I have to share with you here. Chelsea had asked Herman if he "believes the mainstream media will give him preferential treatment because he is a black candidate, just as they appeared to do with Obama during the 2008 campaign." Before you read the complete column where you will read Herman's excellent response, ponder on that question for awhile. How would you want a Presidential candidate for the Republican Party to answer that question?  How do you think Herman responded? I will only give you this one clue: Herman knows that the Obama supporters will forget that he is black, and he knows that the opponents will vilify him for being Conservative.

Glenn Beck and Herman Cain
This week, Glenn Beck announced his Restoring Courage Rally to be held in Jerusalem in August of this year, which is why I decided to  excerpt this part of the column.  This is where Chelsea had quoted from Herman's column this week. I am sure that you will clearly see that it is directly related to what Barack Obama had proposed in a speech yesterday, and what he will talk to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about today.

In light of these events, it is vital for you to know where Herman stands on Israel:
"On the other hand, I do know enough about our solid relationship with Israel from decades of observations that I would make it even stronger, a move that isn't just about dollars. And, I would not be hesitant to let the rest of the world know that we will stand by and with our friends."
You get the idea, right? Not since 1979 when Ronald Reagan was addressing the nation in various places have I been this excited! And I hope that you will soon join me in this excitement, if you haven't already! We know that "Spooky Dude" (George Soros) will have his minions out in force once "The Hermanator" becomes the Conservative force in the flesh.

Just forget what the establishment Republicans (RINOs) want. That hasn't worked out for election victories for the GOP.  I just want to prove to you that this is the person that should be the top CONSERVATIVE candidate for the Republican ticket - that can win!  So, watch this recent video with me, and then you decide. I'm just sayin'...

Obama's 'worst nightmare' seeks showdown with prez
'I feel God's hand in decision that I am going to announce'

By Chelsea Schilling

An American success story and tea-party favorite who could be Obama's "worst nightmare" tells WND he will make a "very important announcement" to the nation in less than 48 hours.

Herman Cain:
Obama's Worst Nightmare
"I feel God's hand in this decision that I'm going to announce on Saturday, May 21, in Atlanta at Centennial Olympic Park at high noon," Herman Cain, an Atlanta radio talk-show host, former CEO of Godfather's Pizza and 2004 Senate seeker, told WND. "We're expecting more than 5,000 people to be there at the announcement rally."

An invitation on his presidential exploratory committee website notes that Cain will share "his final decision about a potential run for the White House in 2012." His announcement will be broadcast live on his website.

Hinting at a launch of a 2012 campaign, Cain said, "People are starting to see through the broken promises, the failed policies and lack of leadership of President Obama.

"Americans will do a double take when they hear me talk about my common-sense solutions – they are going to say what thousands of people have said over the past several months: He makes sense. He makes it clear. He gives solutions, and he's not afraid to lead. That's what people want to see."

Will Obama meet his match?

In an exclusive July 2010 interview, Cain, a devout Christian, disclosed to WND that he has been "prayerfully considering" a bid for the GOP nomination. He also said he would "take the race card off the table" in a challenge against Obama as the GOP presidential candidate in 2012.

"We need a realistic candidate to run on the Republican ticket who can beat Barack Obama – not just beat the Democrats," Cain said. "We've also got to beat Barack Obama."

He added, "Obama is a master of rhetoric. He is a master of deceptive language. And any white candidate who runs against him will be up against the race card. I take the race card off the table."

As WND reported, Cain recently wowed a focus group of 29 likely GOP voters assembled by pollster Frank Luntz following a May 5 Republican presidential debate in South Carolina.

Even Luntz said the reaction of the group was unprecedented in its unanimity – Cain won. Most of those participating in the focus group had no previous familiarity with Cain. Only one of those bowled over by Cain watched the debate with intention of voting for him.

The following is a video of the focus group's reaction to the debate:

Video provided by johnnydollar01 on May 5, 2011

Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and Michele Bachmann skipped the debate. The event included former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Ron Paul, Rick Santorum and former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson in addition to Cain.

After talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh watched the South Carolina debate, he declared to his listeners, "Herman Cain made me think I was listening to me in every answer."

"The debate was absolutely a catalyst," Cain told WND. "Our online volunteers and online contributions increased significantly. The media requests have also increased significantly. A lot of people already knew who I was, especially when they read my articles, but after they saw me live on that Fox News debate, things have been going up exponentially ever since."

Cain blew the competition away once again, receiving 28 percent of more than 2,300 votes, in a recent WND poll that asked, "Who's your choice for Republican presidential nominee in 2012?" Ron Paul came in second, garnering 13 percent, while Sarah Palin, Allen West and Michele Bachmann each received 7 percent of the votes. Donald Trump, Chris Christie and Newt Gingrich each received 4 percent or less.

The tyranny of socialization ~ By Patrice Lewis

Naturally, homeschooling parents who want to protect their children from some of the negative socialization that takes place in schools are viewed as sick, twisted and controlling. Apparently, no one has ever bothered to actually ask homeschooled kids whether they regret not mingling with their publicly schooled peers.

Now that my girls are both teens, I believe homeschooling socialization skills are more important than ever. In a few short years, they'll be leaving the nest and facing the job market in the real world. In this tough economy, it's important for young people to possess basic manners, have vocabularies greater than 800 words, know how to dress neatly and speak respectfully, and have solid academic credentials. It is not important that they know how to use drugs, hook up, get on welfare, or create more children to be dumped into school-day care to complete the cycle.

Call me weird.

Are we crazy? Why are we allowing the socialists to socially engineer our children in the public schools to be the way they are, as discussed in this amazing column by Patrice Lewis? Is there a way to stop this nonsense perpetrated by the Left?

Well, of course there is. But do we have the courage to make the necessary changes? What kind of changes would need to be made? An end to public education? Yes! That would be a great start! But just how would we ever get that done? I really don't know. I am not sure any of us know the solution at this time, but, don't you think we should start considering it?

I refuse to say that we can't turn it around. However, to be honest, the situation seems to be pretty bleak. The teachers' unions are very powerful. The Democrats will continue to give them strength by their actions in order to get their votes. Was that not obvious when the State Senate Democrats went AWOL in Wisconsin?

We know what mass "re-education" of the the people, one generation at a time, by "educators" that have been indoctrinated in the left-leaning "higher learning" institutions, will lead to: Tyranny. I'm just sayin'...

The tyranny of socialization
PATRICE LEWIS

By Patrice Lewis

May 14, 2011 ~ 1:00 am Eastern

© 2011

Have you ever noticed that socialization has now become – apparently – the sole and exclusive purpose of education? Every single homeschooler on the planet, it seems, has heard the question: "But what about socialization?" (The proven quality of homeschooling be damned.) The implication is that unless children attend public schools, their socialization skills will atrophy to the point where they will become drooling blobs unable to mingle with their coworkers at a cocktail party when they grow up.

And naturally, the ONLY place where "correct" socialization is possible is in government schools.

We have elevated this mythical necessity for "socialization" into an oracle-like status. What child can exist without government-approved social skills? How will they learn to chat, volunteer, work, shop, date, marry, or partake in any other activity unless they're inculcated with the values taught in school?

Many years ago I heard a radio interview between a homeschooling advocate and a bewildered host who asked that age-old question, "What about socialization?" The guest gave an answer I'd never considered before: "What is the purpose of school? Is it to teach academic basics, or is it to teach socialization?"

The answer, it seems, is very much the latter. To this observation I'll add that the apparent emphasis on socialization is presumably because the public schools are failing in every academic aspect. But since socialization is hard to quantify, it's therefore easy to demand.

An extreme case in point for the emphasis on socialization came out of Quebec recently in which a judge ordered three homeschooled children (ages 5, 7 and 9) into public schools so they could be socialized. In what seems like a tyrannical abuse of power, the judge then ordered the family's 3-year-old son into day care so he, too, could be socialized.

I know nothing more about this particular case except what was reported through the article. But the specifics are not the focus of this column. The tyranny of socialization is.

According to the dictionary, socialization is "a continuing process whereby an individual acquires a personal identity and learns the norms, values, behavior and social skills appropriate to his or her social position."

That sounds great. I have no objection to this definition. What I object to is the type of socialization found in public schools with which government officials seem entranced and without which they feel homeschooled kids will be unable to function.

National mag publishes fabricated report attacking Corsi book

The Esquire "report":

The Esquire report, written by Mark Warren, the executive editor, called it a "stunning development" that "Where's the Birth Certificate? The Case that Barack Obama is not Eligible to be President" was being recalled amid plans to "pulp the entire 200,000 first printing run of the book, as well as announcing an offer to refund the purchase price to anyone who has already bought either a hard copy or electronic download of the book."

Farah said the Esquire attack is "a prima facie example of libel and attempt at restraint of trade."

"This is an astonishingly reckless report by a company that has demonstrated its total disregard for the truth," said Farah. "I don't know who Esquire's anonymous sources are, but I can only guess that their address is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue."
While I am not an attorney, nor do I play one on TV, I am thinking that Joseph Farah, the publisher, and Jerome Corsi, the author, have a pretty solid case against Esquire for libel with the intent of interfering with their business. I would want to think that the editors at Esquire would be smarter than that, but apparently they aren't very bright at all.
Later, after the "news report" had circulated widely and generated widespread misinformation, the magazine added an "Update" in the form of a note at the bottom of the story, explaining it had "committed satire."
The addition of the "Update" long after the story had been been widely circulated would seem to indicate that there was a clear intention to damage the sales of the book.

And what does this say about Esquire, and by extension, most of the establishment media?

WND Managing Editor David Kupelian added, "I really didn't think the establishment media could possibly sink any lower than it already has in recent years. This is a new low – a malicious fabrication from top to bottom, designed solely to defame a best-selling book, its author and publisher."

Esquire claims best-seller being disavowed by publisher, 'pulled from shelves'

May 18, 2011 ~ 11:52 am Eastern

© 2011 WorldNetDaily
A major national publication that endorsed Barack Obama for president in 2008 today published a completely fabricated news story claiming Jerome Corsi's new best-selling "Where's the Birth Certificate," published by WND Books, has been disavowed by the publisher and taken out of stores nationwide, with refunds offered to purchasers.

Esquire, established in 1932, alleged on its website today under a "BREAKING" headline that Corsi's book was "pulled from shelves!"

Media are calling WND from around the world about the false report.

Joseph Farah
WND founder and CEO Joseph Farah confirmed he never spoke to Esquire.

"Never uttered these words or anything remotely resembling them to anyone," he said. "It is a complete fabrication."

Farah said, "The book is selling briskly. I am 100 percent behind it. This has all the earmarkings of a White House dirty trick – but, of course, only the Nixon administration was capable of dirty tricks like that, according to our watchdog media."

Shooting from the lip is not my style ~ By Herman Cain

As president, one may not make all the correct decisions, but you improve your success rate if you make decisions based on as much of the right information and advice as you can get. Maybe President Obama has just been getting bad advice. If so, he didn't surround himself with the right people.

Working on the right problems, asking the right questions, surrounding oneself with the right people and removing barriers to success – now that's real leadership.

It's much better than shooting from the lip.
This column, folks, is a teachable moment! I'm doing this as a message to the Conservative mega-pundits, such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Glenn Beck, et. al.. They all know who Herman is. I'm seriously surprised that they aren't all throwing their weight toward Herman Cain. They are all aware what Herman stands for. They should have all attacked the pundits that denigrated Herman for his answer about Afghanistan in the South Carolina GOP forum and debate.

Isn't it about time that those that I mentioned above (Beck, Hannity and Limbaugh) reciprocate? Here's my message to them: When are you going to realize that all that we stand for is what Herman Cain is about? That the same folks that love you guys the most, that are participants of all of the great Tea Party rallies around this country, We the People that love this country, would easily stand with Herman Cain if you would present the case to those that aren't yet aware of him?

And yes, Glenn Beck, I understand that you and I stand with Israel, and so does Herman Cain:

On the other hand, I do know enough about our solid relationship with Israel from decades of observations that I would make it even stronger, a move that isn't just about dollars. And, I would not be hesitant to let the rest of the world know that we will stand by and with our friends.
And yes, Glenn, I can see Allen West as President Cain's VP! I'm just sayin'...

HERMAN CAIN

Ever since the South Carolina Republican presidential debate, reporters have continued to challenge me for not having a specific plan for our nation's involvement in Afghanistan. They continue to think that if you are running for president, then you must have an answer for everything. I don't! A real leader has the right questions for everything.

When asked about what I would do about our involvement in the war in Afghanistan during the debate, I answered by asking the questions that should have been asked before we got involved many years ago. What is our mission? How does it serve our interest? Is there a path to victory? If not, then what is our exit strategy?

I ask these questions instead of "shooting from the lip" because there is obviously a lot of classified information to which I do not have access. There are dozens of experts and military leaders from whom I would seek advice before I could make an informed decision about a real clear plan for U.S. involvement in Afghanistan. Similarly, a real clear strategy for every country with which we have relationships would be developed, regardless of whether or not we are involved in a military conflict.

To be clear, I want to be out of Afghanistan and all war-torn countries as much as the next person. But I am not going to propose a half-baked plan based on half the information I would need to make the right decision, just to pretend I know everything.
