Armstrong Williams says press has 'totally lost touch with reality'

Make no mistake about it: This is the year of the outsider. Dr. Ben Carson and Donald Trump are not going away. Mainstream candidates will not be able to carry this election, despite the best efforts of their friends in the mainstream media. The people are in an uprising against the status quo, and the uprising won’t be stopped, muted or co-opted, as it has been in the past. People want something radically different. It is high time the mainstream media get used to it.

I know what Armstrong is saying, but I don't think that the Washington insider label applies to Senators Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio as much as it would to many of the current and former governors still seeking the GOP nomination for President. I have to believe that when the establishment candidates and media are bashing them, it shows Cruz and Rubio may be the true Conservatives we are looking for. It virtually proves it, actually. In that MSM joke they called a "debate," hosted by CNBC, both Cruz and Rubio managed to show the backbone to stand up to the Establishment media and politicians.

I should just say thank you to CNBC for doing the lousy job in hosting the latest GOP debate, which made it possible to see the qualities of the two GOP candidates they love to disparage and ignore. Just sayin'...

Not to make it all about me; the fact is that all of this speaks to all of our efforts having an effect. Between public opinion turning against the Marxist-in-chief, elements of his own party and the liberal press abandoning him, emerging details relative to long-suppressed scandals and the freshness date on his rhetoric having long since passed, we may yet see a constitutional resurgence in America, whether or not Obama plays the last card in his Marxist deck – that of touching off civil war, of course.

Here I am posting this column by Erik Rush a little more than a month after it was written. I was going to post it back in December, 2013, when Erik penned this excellent column, but at that time, I hadn't decided on a few things I was going to do with this blog. As it turns out, this is the ideal time to be posting this column. The truth is, it is like the liberal press caught wind of what Erik says about President Obama, "elements of his own party and the liberal press abandoning him," as evidenced by a surge of attacks on Conservative Republicans by the New York Times and several mainstream news networks:

So, it's a pretty good question. Why is the leftist mainstream media suddenly going on this anti-right surge? They noticed Obama's poll numbers plummeting? Do they now realize that Erik was right when he said that "the fact is that all of this speaks to all of our efforts having an effect"? They won't be attacking any of the progressive establishment Republicans, who many of us call the RINOs. They will be coming after Conservatives, the Tea Party, and those of us that are spreading the word! So, now you have a good preview of what is to come in 2014. The Democrat/Leftist propaganda machine is just getting geared up, folks. But we must have our own surge, fellow patriots. Our freedom and our nation is in peril.

In the recent past, too few perceived the symptoms of the disease. Now that they are experiencing pain and discomfort, they’re palpitating the affected area to see what might be the matter. Such things as the bevy of political scandals involving the Obama administration, the implosion of the “democratic” Arab Spring and the sluggish economic recovery provided more latent symptoms. The acute symptoms came about through the NSA domestic spying scandal, Obama’s dictatorial measures during the partial government shutdown and, finally, the revelation of his grand deception with regard to Obamacare.

National mag publishes fabricated report attacking Corsi book

The Esquire "report":

The Esquire report, written by Mark Warren, the executive editor, called it a "stunning development" that "Where's the Birth Certificate? The Case that Barack Obama is not Eligible to be President" was being recalled amid plans to "pulp the entire 200,000 first printing run of the book, as well as announcing an offer to refund the purchase price to anyone who has already bought either a hard copy or electronic download of the book."

Farah said the Esquire attack is "a prima facie example of libel and attempt at restraint of trade."

"This is an astonishingly reckless report by a company that has demonstrated its total disregard for the truth," said Farah. "I don't know who Esquire's anonymous sources are, but I can only guess that their address is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue."

While I am not an attorney, nor do I play one on TV, I am thinking that Joseph Farah, the publisher, and Jerome Corsi, the author, have a pretty solid case against Esquire for libel with the intent of interfering with their business. I would want to think that the editors at Esquire would be smarter than that, but apparently they aren't very bright at all.

Later, after the "news report" had circulated widely and generated widespread misinformation, the magazine added an "Update" in the form of a note at the bottom of the story, explaining it had "committed satire."

The addition of the "Update" long after the story had been been widely circulated would seem to indicate that there was a clear intention to damage the sales of the book.

And what does this say about Esquire, and by extension, most of the establishment media?

WND Managing Editor David Kupelian added, "I really didn't think the establishment media could possibly sink any lower than it already has in recent years. This is a new low – a malicious fabrication from top to bottom, designed solely to defame a best-selling book, its author and publisher."

Esquire claims best-seller being disavowed by publisher, 'pulled from shelves'

A major national publication that endorsed Barack Obama for president in 2008 today published a completely fabricated news story claiming Jerome Corsi's new best-selling "Where's the Birth Certificate," published by WND Books, has been disavowed by the publisher and taken out of stores nationwide, with refunds offered to purchasers.

Esquire, established in 1932, alleged on its website today under a "BREAKING" headline that Corsi's book was "pulled from shelves!"

Media are calling WND from around the world about the false report.

WND founder and CEO Joseph Farah confirmed he never spoke to Esquire.

"Never uttered these words or anything remotely resembling them to anyone," he said. "It is a complete fabrication."

Farah said, "The book is selling briskly. I am 100 percent behind it. This has all the earmarkings of a White House dirty trick – but, of course, only the Nixon administration was capable of dirty tricks like that, according to our watchdog media."

Helen Thomas needs to go ~ By Joseph Farah

The column by Joseph Farah and the video you will see below are both breathtaking. I could not agree with Joseph more! I mean, really, how could this old hag ever again see the inside of the White House, let alone the press room? This is almost beyond belief that she could say what she says (See exhibit A) and still be employed by Hearst Corp.?

Let me just ask one thing: Is the liberal press all like her? I mean, good God, do they really want to share the same air with her? Do they not realize if they don't get rid of Helen Thomas NOW, the evil stench will stick to them, too? JUST SAYIN'!!!!

She wants the Jews to go home to Germany and Poland – where 6 million of them, about half the Jewish population in the entire world – were exterminated. Israel was the refuge for the survivors. But Helen Thomas has aligned herself with Hezbollah, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Hamas and neo-Nazis around the world who would like nothing better than to see the Jews wandering again so they can be picked off one by one.

But, as a fellow Lebanese-American and as a real journalist, I want to denounce this detestable old wretch in no uncertain terms. I want her discredited. I want her banished from my industry. I want to see her frog-marched out of the White House and the briefing rooms. And I want to see the Hearst Corp., for which I worked so hard and long, do the right thing and fire her.

I worked for the Hearst Corp. for a long time – almost 10 years.

Therefore, I have some really important and good advice for my old employer and any colleagues who might still be around.

Get rid of Helen Thomas now!

She is an embarrassment to the Hearst Corp., to the entire White House press corps and to the journalistic community – if any of them can still be embarrassed.

What am I talking about?

Isn't Helen Thomas the dean of the White House press corps? Doesn't she command the respect of all her colleagues? Isn't she something of a press institution?

There's no question Thomas has been treated respectfully by her peers and by successive White Houses. I can't really understand why. Yes, she's old. Yes, she's crotchety. Yes, she's been around a long time.

But it's time to put her out to pasture. It's time to bar her from the White House press corps. It's time to retire her – ignominiously. It's time for all good journalists and respectable politicians (I know that's a small fraternity) to walk away from her and shake the dust from their shoes.

Why?

Am I just being cruel?

No, I would like you to look at Exhibit A in the case against Helen Thomas:

I don't feel any other exhibits are necessary, though I could surely list them. It's not the first time I have attempted to expose this witch for what she is.

In fact, I corresponded with Tony Snow and Dana Perino during the Bush years about this battle ax and the undue respect she was afforded – even while the affable and lovable Les Kinsolving was often vilified by them.

Perino dressed me down for the contempt I showed Thomas. Dana may be very easy on the eyes, but she is hardly the most discerning and astute observer of the media and political scene.

Can you imagine in 2010 any other media or political figure getting away with saying Jews in Israel should go back to Germany and Poland?

It's stunning. It's breathtaking. It's flabbergasting.

This is a first-rate, raw-boned, dyed-in-the-wool Jew-hater.

And she represents the Hearst Corp.

She is revered by the White House press corps.

She is treated with dignity by presidents.

Can someone please explain this to me?

Why isn't Abe Foxman campaigning to get her fired and disgraced?

Where's the Anti-Defamation League when you need them?

Aren't there any professional organizations among journalists to censure this beast for this kind of hate-talk?

Now I've always known Thomas was an anti-Semite. It's been obvious in her work for decades. It's been obvious in her earlier comments about Israel. But this is a classic illustration – undeniable evidence.

If Pat Buchanan said this, he would be drummed out of the commentary business.

Media ignore violence from the left ~ By Tom Tancredo

Tom wrote about the media's unbalanced reporting of both the violent rioting in regard to the May Day demonstrations and the attempted car bombing in Times Square. However, it isn't just the media that is unbalanced that is distressing. It is also the way people like Michael Bloomberg describe the possible perpetrators even before the investigation takes place, and put the blame on "right-wing extremists." And as we saw the other day, Eric Holder refused to call the terrorist attackers as "Islamic jihadists." It is an attitude that is pervasive with both the establishment press and left-wing politicians.

Examples abound of how the mainstream media intentionally ignore and downplay the dangers from America's real enemies, the Islamic jihadists and Reconquista radicals, while painting conservatives as extremists. Fortunately, most Americans are not duped by this biased news coverage and continue to demand secure borders and strong measures against Islamic terrorists.

Judging by the reports on MSNBC and in the New York Times, the May Day rallies for amnesty looked like Fourth of July picnics. The anti-American and anti-law enforcement violence common in those protests was ignored.

Since 2006, when the pro-amnesty demonstrations were filled with Mexican flags and signs advocating "Reconquista," organizers of these "immigrant rights" protests began to hand out American flags for the cameras. But there were plenty of Mexican flags this time around.

In addition to ignoring the Mexican flags and anti-American placards this May Day, the national media also ignored multiple instances of violence by open-borders advocates.

In San Francisco, three anti-amnesty counter-protesters were sent to the hospital by violent left-wing extremists. The San Francisco ABC affiliate reported:

Three people were attacked and at least two others were arrested. The people assaulted were part of the Minutemen demonstration, a group in favor of Arizona's new immigration law. … "They said we were racists, and we were against them, and against their town, and against San Francisco," said Parker Wilson with the Bay Area National Anarchists.

The attackers used brass knuckles and mace, giving one of the anti-amnesty protesters a concussion. A police officer witnessed the entire incident, and the leftists were charged with felonious assault.

Outside of the local ABC report and a few stories in a minor San Francisco weekly, no national news outlet or even the major local newspapers bothered to report on this violent politically based hate crime.

In another May Day incident, 250 unruly leftists in Santa Cruz started an all-out riot. Writes the Silicon Valley Mercury News:

Downtown business owners spent Sunday repairing shattered windows and doors after a May Day rally Saturday night turned into a riot with approximately 250 people marching along Pacific Avenue, some carrying makeshift torches, throwing large rocks and paint bombs, and spray-painting walls with graffiti.

Investigators believe it caused $100,000 worth of damage. This story got a bit more attention, with the Associated Press writing a small story that a number of newspapers tucked away in their back pages. No national press has followed up, even as Santa Cruz launches a probe into the riots and has asked the FBI for assistance.

In contrast to these violent left-wing mobs, not one tea-party demonstration has resulted in violence. You can be sure that if they did, left-wing politicians and the national news would be denouncing it for weeks on end.

Absent any real violence, the media simply try to make up accounts of right-wing misbehavior.

When Rep. Jim Clyburn and John Lewis claimed that they had been spit on and called racial slurs, literally thousands of stories about the supposed incident dominated the headlines and cable news for over a week. This alleged incident occurred as Clyburn and Lewis were walking in to vote on the health-care bill, with dozens of videotapes and policemen tracking their every step. Not one video captured any spitting or slurs, nor did any police officer observe them.

Media bias was also clear when a terrorist failed to detonate a car bomb in Times Square. In the first hours of the event, the media and left-wing commentators set their sites on conservatives.

On MSNBC, Chris Matthews said that the suspects likely harbored a "right-wing agenda."

Back in the 1970s, Dan Rather (remember him?) wrote a book about the Nixon administration called "The Palace Guard."

It was a book about how Nixon's inner circle insulated the president from the press, the people and even the inner workings of his own administration.

Flash forward to 2010, and there's a new kind of Palace Guard protecting and insulating Barack Obama from any potential for unpleasantness or dissent.

But this time the Palace Guard is the White House press corps Dan Rather once served.

I could literally give you dozens of example of the way the old guard White House press corps protects Obama. But let me share just one near and dear to my heart.

Every year, the White House Press Correspondents Association puts on a big black-tie dinner featuring the president. WND has attended these over the years and recently purchased tables so we could observed the festivities along with our colleagues in the press.

It's not only a dinner, it's an annual news event that no one in the media can afford to ignore.

So this year, with the White House Press Correspondents Dinner coming up May 1, WND decided to buy three tables, not just the usual one. Since WND is represented in the association by a correspondent who is third in seniority in the entire White House press corps, we decided it would be a fitting way to honor Les Kinsolving, the subject of a new biography coming out on that very day.

Just to make sure our request was taken seriously, we made sure WND was the very first news organization in the world to get its application in and paid the full price for the three tables the day the tickets went on sale.

Last week we were notified that not only would we not get the three tables we requested, we wouldn't even get one. Instead, the association offered two individual tickets. Meanwhile, other news organizations were offered up to eight tables.

By the way, the association cashed the check for the three tables.

I'm not sure if this is an indication of a broader drift among the media, but I have been the subject of a number of recent press interviews, including some that extended to five or six hours or more, that have never been published or broadcast. A few months ago, a reporter for the Los Angeles Times began interviewing me. We met in person once and then talked on the phone a number of times – covering a broad range of subjects, including personal history, the popularity of WND, the business side of WND, the media business in general and, of course, the issues of the day, including the constitutional eligibility of the president of the United States. One month went by. Two months went by. The reporter called me back to tell me he was leaving the L.A. Times for another paper and wanted to finish up the story before he left. We talked some more. Another month went by. Now he had left the L.A. Times and was at his new paper and expected the piece to run the following weekend. That was six weeks ago. I am now convinced the story will never run. During the course of those months, CNN called me. A reporter whose name and face you would recognize wanted to interview me about the constitutional eligibility of the president of the United States. Well, I never pass up an opportunity to talk about underreported stories like the way Barack Obama is hiding his true identity, his true persona, from the American people. So I happily went off to be interviewed by CNN. The first question posed was something like this: "Now back in the 1990s, you said that Bill Clinton's deputy counsel, Vincent Foster, was murdered. Do you still believe that?" "No," I said. "I never said any such thing. I have written tens of thousands of words about Vincent Foster's death, but I know I never said he was murdered." I could tell the interviewer was uncomfortable with my answer – maybe even unprepared. "Well, what did you say about his death?" "I wrote that there were many unanswered questions about his death and that the official investigations were all badly botched and inconclusive," I said. Finally, we got around to the eligibility question – maybe 30 minutes into the on-camera interview. "Now you think Barack Obama wasn't born in the United States," he said. "Why do you believe that?" I replied: "Again, I've never made that claim. I'm a journalist. I ask questions. I don't accept at face value the words of politicians and government officials. I think they should be accountable to the people and provide documents to prove what they say." Needless to say, that interview never aired. On that day it was reported that the Obama administration had failed in a significant effort in the area of the autocratic tactics it has employed since Barack Obama took office, and far more increasingly in recent weeks. I am speaking of the administration's attempt to maneuver establishment news organizations into segregating the Fox News network from the press corps. On Thursday of last week, the administration planned to allow members of the White House press pool to conduct interviews with "pay czar" Kenneth Feinberg. The pool is a group of five rotating network news organizations that is ostensibly representative of the press at large, and traditionally has shared the expense and function of covering the president. The White House's intention was that all members of the White House press pool would be allowed to participate in the interviews with Feinberg – all, that is, except for Fox News. As the reader may be aware, the Obama administration has been waging what can only be considered a one-sided (albeit vigorous) war of words against Fox. On Oct. 18, White House senior adviser David Axelrod said (on ABC News' "This Week" program) that Fox News is not a real news organization, and that other news networks ought not treat it as such. A broad hint, to be sure, if not a threat; on the same day, White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel made similar remarks during his appearance on CNN's "State of the Union" news show. But, despite the establishment press' heretofore slavish devotion to Obama, the tactic backfired.
