Harry Reid: Bundy supporters 'domestic terrorists,' hints at federal task force ~ By Joe Newby

The standoff between Bundy and the BLM ended Saturday when federal agents beat a hasty retreat after confronting protesters. No shots were fired during the week-long incident, but the situation became quite tense at times, almost to the point of bloodshed.

Since Saturday's withdrawal, a number of people expressed concerns federal agents would return to finish the job, perhaps in a violent and bloody confrontation. The Bundys warned supporters to be wary of unverified information, but Reid's statement Thursday would appear to validate those concerns. Reid told the Review-Journal he spoke with Attorney General Eric Holder, FBI leaders and Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie, and understands a task force is being set up.
The story may have faded into the sunset, had it not been for Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid. As Jason Howerton of theblaze.com mentions:
Reid, who recently said the situation is “not over,” revealed on Thursday there is a federal task force being assembled to handle to the tense situation.
But then Harry Reid has decided that the fat lady hasn't sung yet.

Harry Reid was not only wrong, he was lying on so many levels! How long will it before he calls citizen journalists, in many cases known as Conservative bloggers, Domestic Terrorists? I'm just sayin'...

Harry Reid: Bundy supporters 'domestic terrorists,' hints at federal task force
By Joe Newby

April 18, 2014

From examiner.com

While attending a Las Vegas Review-Journal “Hashtags & Headlines” event, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., ratcheted up the rhetoric against conservatives by calling supporters of rancher Cliven Bundy "domestic terrorists," the Review-Journal reported Thursday. He also told the Review-Journal that a task force is being set up to "deal" with Bundy.

“Those people who hold themselves out to be patriots are not. They’re nothing more than domestic terrorists,” he said. "I repeat: what went on up there was domestic terrorism.”

He also accused supporters of bringing children to the ranch to put them in harm's way in order to make the government look bad. He also accused supporters of using fully automatic firearms.

“There were hundreds — hundreds of people from around the country — that came there,” Reid told the Review-Journal. “They had sniper rifles on the freeway. They had assault weapons. They had automatic weapons.”

He also attacked Bundy, implying that in his view, the Nevada rancher is unpatriotic.

“[Cliven] Bundy does not recognize the United States,” Reid said. “He says that the United States is a foreign government. He doesn’t pay his taxes. He doesn’t pay his fees. And he doesn’t follow the law. He continues to thumb his nose at authority.”

Palin Joined Fox News to Anger 'People Who Want Me Dead'

These are the kinds of stories that I've been itching to post in this venue! If anything, this post should be considered to be a tribute to the courage of Roger Ailes, head of Fox News, and Sarah Palin, former Governor of Alaska, to stand up to the Fox News and Sarah Palin detractors. It's always good when I see people stand up to bullies!

As a big high five to Ailes and Palin, here is a video I posted on my Facebook page, johnny2k's America, on June 22, 2013. I'm not posting it here just because it was Sarah Palin and Fox News, though. It was a segment that foretells what we are up against this election year. The federal government is big, and they are showing just how dangerous an out of control government (and President) can be.

Now you see why I am so happy to be posting here again! I love these kinds of stories. There is so much to learn from what may have just been an overlooked story. And that's my job, to make sure the REAL stories aren't vanquished to obscurity before you have the chance to soak it all up. Just sayin'...

Palin Joined Fox News to Anger 'People Who Want Me Dead'

From NEWSMAX

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has agreed with Fox News boss Roger Ailes that she went back to Fox News as a commentator "to piss off" the people who wished she were dead.

On her Facebook page, Palin wrote, "Fox’s Roger Ailes says he hired me 'to piss off the people that wanted her dead.' Hmmm. Funny. I accepted for the same reason!"

The Fox News Chairman said in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter that he hired Palin to "give her a chance to say her piece and piss off the people that wanted her dead."

Is that the sound of a constitutional resurgence? ~ By Erik Rush

Not to make it all about me; the fact is that all of this speaks to all of our efforts having an effect. Between public opinion turning against the Marxist-in-chief, elements of his own party and the liberal press abandoning him, emerging details relative to long-suppressed scandals and the freshness date on his rhetoric having long since passed, we may yet see a constitutional resurgence in America, whether or not Obama plays the last card in his Marxist deck – that of touching off civil war, of course.
Here I am posting this column by Erik Rush a little more than a month after it was written. I was going to post it back in December, 2013, when Erik penned this excellent column, but at that time, I hadn't decided on a few things I was going to do with this blog. As it turns out, this is the ideal time to be posting this column. The truth is, it is like the liberal press caught wind of what Erik says about President Obama, "elements of his own party and the liberal press abandoning him," as evidenced by a surge of attacks on Conservative Republicans by the New York Times and several mainstream news networks:

So, it's a pretty good question. Why is the leftist mainstream media suddenly going on this anti-right surge? They noticed Obama's poll numbers plummeting? Do they now realize that Erik was right when he said that "the fact is that all of this speaks to all of our efforts having an effect"? They won't be attacking any of the progressive establishment Republicans, who many of us call the RINOs. They will be coming after Conservatives, the Tea Party, and those of us that are spreading the word! So, now you have a good preview of what is to come in 2014. The Democrat/Leftist propaganda machine is just getting geared up, folks. But we must have our own surge, fellow patriots. Our freedom and our nation is in peril.

Is that the sound of a constitutional resurgence?

In the recent past, too few perceived the symptoms of the disease. Now that they are experiencing pain and discomfort, they’re palpitating the affected area to see what might be the matter. Such things as the bevy of political scandals involving the Obama administration, the implosion of the “democratic” Arab Spring and the sluggish economic recovery provided more latent symptoms. The acute symptoms came about through the NSA domestic spying scandal, Obama’s dictatorial measures during the partial government shutdown and, finally, the revelation of his grand deception with regard to Obamacare.

GOP creating fuel for Obama ~ By Chuck Norris

Now, you tell me, which type of leadership is going to win us back the White House: one that rallies the country or divides the house?
With totally certainty, I can say that Chuck Norris undoubtedly hits the nail on the head in this column, and it is the most important column I've read so far in this election cycle.

While you need to read this column in full, beginning to end, I need to give you one more quote that is of vital importance, one that is of total relevance to defeating Barack Hussein Obama in 2012:

Every conservative I know agrees that any GOP candidate will be better than the leadership we currently have in the White House. I firmly believe their positive attributes definitely outweigh any of their negatives.

With about three weeks to the Iowa Caucus, it's high time that we quit allowing the left and even our own preferences and prejudice to polarize us any further. It's time we lay down our egos and our innate bent to tear down and fight to unify for our republic's sake. If we are going to win the war for the White House, it's going to be solely in our ability to rally together and keep our scopes on the current occupant of the White House, not by aiming at one other.
Before I read Chuck's column, I read what Herman Cain had to say in his column on the same day. Here is part of my commentary about what Herman was saying, and it is perfectly relevant to the wisdom of Chuck Norris that you will read today:
As to this coming election in 2012, the major effort still needs to be focused on defeating Obama. That could possibly mean nominating a squishy RINO Republican candidate. Whatever it takes, right? If that is the outcome, what Herman Cain has suggested in this column will become even more significant, as you will read. We the People need to be able to put the pressure on whoever wins the White House and Congress!
Now, it is time for me to make a request of you, the reader. I know you are one that cares about our future and our freedom, so I'm assuming that you will understand this request is not just so I can promote this column or my blog. What would really help would be if you were to disseminate this column, this blog post, to as many of the GOP Presidential candidates, Conservative columnists, bloggers and talk radio show hosts as possible. WE the People need to spread the word, far and wide!

This election should be up to you, and not the media outlets - Conservative or Progressive. It is time for WE the People that want to avert the loss of our liberties as given to us in the Constitution of the United States. We need to have a little faith right now in what WE the People can do when we unite. The Tea Party Movement is STILL a movement that allows us keep us unified, if we allow it to. Along with this great column by Chuck Norris, we have been schooled on the abilitiy for us to keep spreading the hope for freedom that will still be here for our children and grandchildren!

You've heard of "Peace through Strength" before, right? Well, this is "Strength through Peace" amongst our candidates and the pundits. Let's quit giving the enemy the ability to divide us, alright? I'm just sayin'...

Charles Dillon "Casey" Stengel, the early 20th century baseball legend who played on five teams and managed four, said, "It's easy to get good players. Getting them to play together, that's the hard part."

What's true in sports is definitely true in politics, but even more so.

Many say, 'tis the season for GOP rivalry, but when does inference turn to infighting? When does public debate dismantle our conservative solidarity? When do campaign commercials compromise our unity to fight together? And when does friendly bantering turn into friendly fire that is fuel for our foes?

I know we are in a GOP presidential race. I understand the tactics to win a regular election, but this is no typical run for the presidency. There is a progressive insurrection underway, and at the heart of their political warfare is the disunity of conservative consensus.

In this unique presidential race, I would propose at this particular point that our infighting is, indeed, not only the recipe for the president's petroleum but also a major strategy in the progressives' plan to keep their incumbent in the Oval Office.

Former House Speaker and GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich told an audience in Iowa last week, "President Obama is legitimately and authentically a Saul Alinsky radical." I completely agree, as well as the majority who truly understand Obama's origins and political philosophies. Even the New York Times back in August 2009 wrote, "Saul Alinsky, the Chicago activist and writer whose street-smart tactics influenced generations of community organizers, most famously the current president …"

Alinsky's bible for community organizers is "Rules for Radicals," the principles of which can be viewed in almost every action of the left, including the present White House. For example, in the chapter on "power tactics," the fourth tactic is: "Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules." While conservatives regard congruity as commendable, Alinsky considers it an opportunity for raising disdain among the public and infighting among enemies, because no one can perfectly live up to his or her own message.

This is where Alinsky's fifth rule follows and applies: "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon." And the best missile in that arsenal is the friendly fire (ridicule) caused within the enemies' own camps.

Online free speech doesn't exist ~ By Phil Elmore

Phil writes about a subject that many people have had to deal with already. In fact, many of my conservative friends had been booted off such sites as digg.com one or more times for writing things that had "offended" somebody. Even I was suspended one time from digg.com, but was reinstated quickly for the fact that the person who complained about me had probably blatantly lied to digg.com's complaint department. But I had to write to the complaint department to ask why I was suspended. My theory was that it was a case where digg.com would suspend users first, and ask questions (investigate complaints) later, only when the suspended user requested it.

So, based on my own personal experience, I can assure you that Phil's point he makes in this column is completely valid. It can happen to just about anybody. It doesn't always take writing something that is considered highly controversial or that would offend the majority of people. It could just be that somebody doesn't like your opinion. That's not freedom of speech! And even though it doesn't mean that jackbooted thugs are going to come kick down your door, arrest you, and throw you in a gulag for what you write, it is still just as dangerous to our freedom of speech.

As a freelance writer, I publish articles on a variety of topics, including exposé pieces on noteworthy individuals' political and trade-specific claims. One such individual, angered by my truthful article, filed a complaint – not with my lawyer or with me, but with my Web hosting company. That company's legal team initially seemed inclined to dismiss the complaint as without merit – until they received four more complaints, simultaneously, in nearly identical language. My critic had solicited complaint letters from every registered member of my blog's feedback section, misrepresenting my website as a "hate site" and suggesting to my contacts that they complain to my host's legal department.

Overnight, I was forced to remove the "offending" material – which, in some cases, contained individual words the offended party didn't like – or face the termination of my account and the loss of my website. To lose years of work over something so foolish, without even the opportunity to present my case or defend myself, was disheartening. It also taught me a valuable lesson. Online, free speech isn't about the truth or about what you can back up. It is, instead, about whom you can threaten and whether you can bully them into folding.

Arguably malevolent front-page "news" organizations like WikiLeaks have learned this lesson. Individual conservative journalists like me have learned this lesson. You, too, must understand it. You have no true freedom of speech online. To fight for the truth is harder now than it ever was. The technology that gives us a voice and helps us reach an audience is itself vulnerable to lies, subject to intimidation and only as strong as the frightened legal functionaries whose job it is to protect your online services from imagined liability. Those people and those companies do not exist to protect you, nor do they care if you are in the right. They want only to stay out of trouble and to remain free of controversy.

That is the truth, even if no one wants to hear it.

Are you prepared for technology to fail? ~ By Phil Elmore

It was late Sunday night when I went to post a column here, and a screen saying that Blogger was temporarily out of service would come up. "No problem," I thought, "I'll try back in a little while." For two hours, I continued to check back to see if blogger was up and running yet. I went to Blogger's status page to see if they knew about the problem.  I also checked on twitter to see if any tweets had been posted saying what the problem was or if they had any estimated time of when blogger would be back up. There was absolutely no communication from Blogger about the problem. I began to start losing patience after several hours of constant checking for status and checking to see if I could post yet.

What I did then was to do a search on twitter for "@blogger," which resulted in seeing a torrent of tweets to Blogger. I was relieved to know that I was not the only person with the problem. I also saw that many of the tweets written to Blogger were beginning to get nasty. A few of the tweeters were threatening to start blogging at WordPress, another free blogging service. But the overall theme of the tweets was beginning to show panic. That was when I tweeted to Phil to let him know about the problem and the panic when technology fails.

The one scary thought I had through the turmoil, though, was the fact that technology can fail due to human error, or, insidiously, because of an intentional act of terror, or worse: the government pulling the plug.  Just sayin'....
The reality of the 2003 Northeast Blackout was more mundane ... and perhaps more disturbing. The cascade failure of the power grid, which some parties tried to blame on Canada, underscored the relative fragility of the energy network on which we all depend so strongly. A single point of failure can, under the right conditions, become a catastrophic outage, plunging thousands and even millions of people into more than darkness. To lose power is not just to lose light, but to lose heating, cooling, communication and entertainment. In short, when technology fails, it fails us in every facet of our day-to-day lives. When we and our neighbors experience such a failure at the same time, panic, conflict and injury or death are not far behind.

The time to prepare
is before technology fails. You depend on technology; we all do. How you cope with its failure is your choice ... and your responsibility.

On June 7, blogger stopped working. The outage was longer than just a couple of hours. It was long enough, in fact, for people who depend on blogger to, well, blog, to start to freak out. At microblogging site Twitter, a rising note of alarm started to creep into posts that went like this: "Is anybody else having trouble getting blogger to work?" It got worse as the outage persisted, and people who have made updating their blogs part of their daily routines suddenly couldn't communicate with their readers.

As much as we might be tempted to dismiss bloggers as basement-dwelling loners engaged in the Internet equivalent of talking to themselves, it's a fact that a great many people get their news from and spend time communicating with a network of bloggers who use public and commercial blogging sites (rather than their own websites). It was one of them, John Kubicek, who first brought the blogger.com outage to my attention. John maintains a popular conservative blog in which he summarizes major news events and links to various conservative and libertarian columns.

"See the panic?" John wrote to me. "PANIC? Like the end of the world kind of thing? It can be more than just annoying when technology fails. Think fishing and shrimping in the Gulf. People who depend on technology are affected by failures sometimes for their livelihood, and it can be devastating."

I thought about that for a long time. Mr. Kubicek quite rightly points out that when a major piece of our technological world goes awry, it can affect us to the point of destroying our jobs and our lives. The oil leak [See video below] still raging in the Gulf is one of the best examples. Technology intended to prevent an accident of this kind completely failed, triggering week after week of finger pointing, excuses and failed attempts at solutions – all while the Obama administration refused to take the problem seriously.

In only too typical fashion, Obama is more concerned with covering his own posterior while mouthing vulgar, contrived comments calculated to make him look tough. The problem in this case, of course, is that pencil-necked bureaucrats known for their stilted public speaking voices and their nagging tendency to apologize for America at every conceivable turn can rarely affect a street-tough image that anyone finds believable.

Dukakis rode a tank, the expression on his face making him look slack-jawed and simple underneath his ridiculous helmet. John Kerry put a shotgun over his shoulder, as if we'd believe he's an avid hunter who wouldn't do his best to ban your guns. The mediocre-at-best George W. Bush wore a flight suit and landed on an aircraft carrier, ludicrously declaring accomplished a mission that grinds on killing our soldiers to this day. And now Barack Hussein Obama, the man whose masterful manipulation of modern media prompted us to dub him our technology dictator, has taken to the airwaves threatening to kick someone's behind, as if we'll believe he's a passionate fighter for truth and justice and not simply a brittle, defensive, incompetent tyrant.

Technology brought us imagery of these failures. Technology was used by these men in their attempts to spin their failures and their flaws into some false belief on the part of voters that such men could or should be trusted. As we've learned only too well watching the devastation in the Gulf, however, technology can collapse at any moment, leaving us to discover just how dependent we have become in relying on something that is fundamentally not reliable.

What's the longest you've ever gone without power? In 1998, a derecho (a violent straight-line wind storm) knocked out the power to my city. Over the next three days, my desperation grew as hour after grueling hour without power, without hot water, without the ability to cook the majority of food in the kitchen, without a freezer to preserve that food, without any form of entertainment that was not battery-powered AM radio, without any light at night that did not come from the flashlights I had sprinkled throughout the house, took its toll on my patience. I started calling home whenever I was not present, hoping against hope that the answering machine would pick up, indicating that power was restored. After three days of this, when I finally heard my own digital voice on the other end of the line, the message I left was incomprehensible. I was too busy blubbering with delight that this long weekend's sojourn into primitive living was finally over.

A call to action in support of liberty ~ By Phil Elmore

I am beginning to think that Phil Elmore and I have a psychic connection! I don't think that we even need twitter or facebook to communicate!  You see, over time I have come to the same exact conclusion that Phil does in this column. Had I NOT had that conclusion, I am not sure I'd have continued doing what I do.  I had the feeling that I was just an obscure blogger for quite awhile.  But then, one day, about the time when Obama first started his campaign, I realized that what I was doing had some importance, even if just one person learned something (about Obama) that the mainstream media wasn't going to tell them.

Doing what I do, on this and my other blogs and on my youtube channel, has turned out to be very rewarding in many ways.  For one, I got on sites like Twitter and digg.com, and met a lot of great patriots! That goes along with what Phil will be explaining in his column.  That was part of the reason I alluded to the psychic connection with Phil above.  The other part of the reason, as Phil will explain in his column, was because I knew I had to do something, even if I remained forever obscure, to help others learn about what is going on in this country.  And believe it or not, I guess that I have learned how many people really were not aware of the dangers to America.  I will explain that more in a future blog post, but for now, let me give you Phil's column. Be prepared for an interesting surprise!
People ask me so often, "But what can I do? The technology you've told me about exists and it's not going to go away. Where does that leave us?" Well, this is what you can do: Join us. Open a Facebook account. Open a Twitter account. Start a blog. You don't have to own your own website or domain; you can easily start a blog and a social networking account through any of several popular sites. Once you have such accounts, however, all you've got to do to make a difference is lend your voice. Add that voice to those of your fellow conservatives and libertarians.

Speak up. Speak out. Become part of the "mob" who support the Constitution and who oppose Barack Hussein Obama.

Start today.

I've done something a little different in writing this week's Technocracy. I haven't taken a premise, built a series of links in support of that premise, and then presented a conclusion. This is because, all too often, Technocracy must take the format, "Here is a piece of technology. Fear it, because your government is misusing it." I believe very strongly in bringing you that message ... but something happened this week that has prompted me to change my message, just this once.

I'm going to ask you to do something.

In Technocracy, we have discussed social networking sites many times. These websites enable friends, family, coworkers, classmates and like-minded strangers to stay connected, trade links, share day-to-day trivia from their lives and generally hold encapsulated conversations across the distance of miles and even continents. Social networking sites have redefined the concept of "friendship" (not necessarily for the better) but also made it possible for friends and family who might otherwise seldom speak to share their lives with each other in a way that greatly enhances their relationships.

It's a simple fact that staying connected has very real benefits for people, whether they share ties of family, politics or interests. This is important, because too few people understand the power that social networking represents. Let me explain.

Every morning, I start my day by reading the news. To me, however, part of reading the news is taking the time to look at the updates on my Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace accounts. I also follow a couple of blogs, such as John Kubicek's blog, Bob Lonsberry's column (I also listen to his radio show and chuckle every time I see a FUBO sticker on someone's car – it's a campaign Lonsberry started that stands for "F--- You, Barack Obama") and host Bill Colley's thoughtful online journals. I follow Kubicek and Colley on Twitter, and I also follow a few other frequent political bloggers, such as John Sykes and Evil Conservative Radio.

I was doing this the Monday morning when I realized something. I kept opening new tabs in my browser as I clicked links shared by all of these people, and others, including friends in my Facebook friends list. Suddenly, it occurred to me that I was running out of time: There were too many columns. There were too many links. I wasn't going to be able to read them all before I had to leave the office.

This volume of posts, links, columns, retweets, blogs and comments, all of them bringing attention to the left's vile oppression of the American people, doesn't seem like much when you consider any single source. Each individual blogger is a drop in the well that is the Internet. But together, taken as a whole, this legion of conservative and libertarian posters unleashes a tidal wave each and every day that refutes the mindless bleating and the ceaseless drumbeat from left-leaning popular sources for news and entertainment. From the criminalization of dissent to the attempt to equate protesters with racists and murderous domestic terrorists, from the economic disaster that is Obamacare to the latest unpresidential behavior from our brittle, arrogant "commander in chief," men and women once derided by leftist politicians as crackpots sitting at computers in their parents' basements have shown they have real power in our sociopolitical landscape.

This power can be yours. You can be part of this "netroots" movement of conservative and libertarians on the Internet. In working with your fellow online activists, you needn't even agree with them about everything. Last weekend, for example, I discussed a recent WND column, "Government machines that can 'read your mind,'" with the hosts of the "Jeff and Mike Show." (You can listen to this appearance on my YouTube channel in three parts: 1, 2, and 3.)

Bachmann CPAC challenge: Convert libs to WND readers!

Michele Bachmann is right-on about this.  It really is about "one person at a time!"  That is one of the reasons why I post  these blogs. What I have found is that it isn't so much that people are just liberals, though.  Actually, in most of the cases I've come across, it is because of the problem with apathy and/or a lack of information. I hear things like, "I'm busy, I don't have time," or "Watching the news depresses me, so I don't follow the news." So, it isn't just about "flipping" liberals, but also to get people interested enough to care, and to believe that even they can make a difference.

And, basically, it's also about us getting the cahones to keep working on persuading people.

'Persuade one person at a time, we'll take back Washington'

By Drew Zahn

Posted: February 20, 2010 ~ 3:13 pm Eastern

© 2010 WorldNetDaily

At the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, or CPAC, yesterday, Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., challenged the audience to work at their dinner tables and water coolers to convert liberals one at a time into "Pat Buchanan, WorldNetDaily-reading conservative[s]."

"These elections won't even be close if we take one person and make it our priority to utilize what we know is true," she told the crowd at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in the nation's capital. "Persuade one person at a time and we'll take back Washington, D.C."

Bachmann's effort to "take back Washington" includes last month's unveiling the Declaration of Health Care Independence, now signed by nearly 100 lawmakers and approaching 9,000 Americans. The declaration is a commitment to protect the rights of the American people to make their own health decisions, reduce bureaucratic red tape, decrease intergenerational debt and implement 10 common-sense principles for future health-care reform.

Bachmann's CPAC challenge came on the heels of relating a story about her oldest son, who made it a goal in medical school "to persuade one liberal to become a conservative." Her son told her that though his assigned roommate was "a San Francisco liberal," through a determined effort in between classes and exams, he diligently worked the powers of persuasion until one day, his effort was rewarded: The roommate emailed him a Pat Buchanan column from WND.

"I challenge everyone in this room to do what our son did," Bachmann said. "If he can persuade a San Francisco liberal to flip and be a Pat Buchanan, WorldNetDaily-reading conservative, you can do it too!"

Bachmann's story and challenge can be seen beginning at the 2:20 mark of the video below:

Eureka, I Am a Conservative! ~ By Harold Witkov

From American Thinker
By Harold Witkov January 15, 2010 For the longest time, average Americans were in a political stupor. But not anymore. In the past year, across this great nation of ours, an awakening has started. Individual Americans, by the droves, are experiencing their own political eureka moments and transforming into conservatives. The famous Greek mathematician of antiquity Archimedes was once requested to determine if a solid gold wreath was indeed solid gold. According to legend, Archimedes, knowing he was not permitted to damage the wreath in any way, was at a loss. However, upon entering a bathtub and noting that the water level rose in accordance to his body mass, Archimedes deduced that he could perform a similar experiment comparing water level variations between the wreath in question and any solid gold material of the same weight. Upon realizing he had found the solution he was so desperately seeking, in what is often referred to as Archimedes' eureka moment of discovery, Archimedes forgot himself and ran home naked through the streets, bellowing, "Eureka! Eureka!" (I've found it! I've found it!) In certain Eastern religious circles, it is believed that sometimes one must discover who he is by first discovering who he is not. I have no idea if there is anything to this school of thought, but when it comes to the world of politics, I do believe there are times when one must discover where he stands politically by first recognizing what he stands against. Now that Barack Obama and the Democrats have taken over the presidency and both Houses, more and more Americans are starting to gag from the stench of unfettered liberalism. Horrified by out-of-control spending, a socialist agenda, and weak foreign policy, a growing number of outraged Americans have been doing some major political soul-searching. Intuitively, they sense America has dangerously changed course, and a growing sea of citizens are now on the same page and thinking the same thoughts:
I am against the federal redistribution of wealth. I am against entitlement politics. I am against American czars. I am against apology tours that denigrate the greatness of our country. I am against tax-and-spend politics. I am against government takeovers. I am against amnesty citizenship for those who have entered our country illegally. ...

An Open Letter to the Legislators of the United States of America

I was alerted to this Open Letter by my friend at twitter, _Jym. This letter can be seen at his blog, In God We'll Trust. I was amazed by the profound thoughts that went into this letter, written by Linny Buck. I have asked Jym for his approval to post the entire letter here, and my request was approved, as long as I republished it exactly as seen on his blog, which I have done.
An Open Letter to the Legislators of the United States of America By Linny Buck Published: August 15, 2009 Posted in: Constitution, Honesty in politics Click here to join our Free Action Group Please Copy & Paste, email, print and/or send to your Legislators… An Open Letter to the Legislators of the United States of America Do you know who you are? I certainly hope so because you stand at the intersection of freedom and control and it is you who have the responsibility to assist in making the decisions that will determine the highway this country will travel. It is your voice that will cry out from the capital; follow me to freedom or cower with me in the corner as choice is slowly ripped from the heart of a country and its people are held captive by those who thirst for power denies its subjects free will. You know exactly what I am talking about. You are old enough to remember when freedom was a prized possession and you have watched as a citizen and participated as a legislator as this country has gradually unburdened itself from the price of freedom in exchange for a free ride. Only the ride isn’t really free, it simply seems without price to those who are unwilling to act in any other way than to scavenge after selfishness. Such people are easily satisfied and easily led into the chains of control. Fortunately most Americans know well the burden of freedom and are willing to pay the price for themselves and even for those who are unwilling to pay it at all. Freedom’s price is to stand up and be counted as one who loves liberty and abhors the cunning craftiness of those whose design is to destroy and defeat the ability to make choices thereby stealing from all of us the responsibility to be held accountable. If the price is not paid by its citizens the United States of America becomes the country, we as children, were taught to fear. Today the debate rages about health care, but the issue is not really about health care, that is merely the cloak de jour in which the issue is wrapped, yesterday it was dressed in stimulus money, tomorrow it will wear the clothing of cap and trade; the issue is about freedom and you can feel it in your soul. You have seen both political parties, over the years, legislate away the ability to make choices and we as a people have stood by and allowed it as you in the legislature have participated in wrapping morsels of food in layers of garbage and calling it good. Now in the streets and in town halls across America you see men and women who are starving because of the actions of legislators; they are starving for freedom and they are fighting back against those who seek to blind their minds, chain their hopes, and control their ability to choose. These are people who when called upon to sacrifice will do so willingly. These are men and women who want to trust you to stand up and to be able to sacrifice your own self interest for the freedom of your fellow citizens and the liberty of our nation. Do you know who you are? If what has been said rings true in your heart then you are a patriot and you have a job to do and we expect you to do it correctly. You must choose freedom and you must stand against what you feel in your soul is wrong even if it’s dressed in the fashions of the hour and solicits your company or rewards your ambition. If you find what has been said to be repulsive then you are either drunk with your own power or you are a coward willing to be controlled by those who seek to destroy us. We will be watching and praying for you to make correct choices based upon correct principles which will then allow us to properly govern ourselves. We are Americans. Who are you? Sincerely, A Very Concerned Citizen of the United States of America
