In this episode, I address the likely path ahead for your job and the economy in the midst of the Coronavirus threat. I also address the hapless media and their awful efforts to sell us propaganda from China. I discuss a piece of troubling video about your child’s education and I debunk another liberal myth about the election.

I think that we can all agree that a constant barrage of bad news, from any source, can lead to depression. Depression can lead to health problems.  "We don't need 24 hour doom and gloom," Dan says.  So, in this episode, Dan starts off with positive news, something we all could use some of right now.

Maybe the top take-away from this  episode was when Dan explains that the FDA is doing two things, when there should be just one: Determining the safety of a drug, and determining the efficacy of the drug. The safety of the drug should be their only duty.  The efficacy of the drug, what it is being used for and whether or not it could help in treatment, should be determined by the doctor, with the patient's approval.  In other words, Chloroquine with Azithromycin could be a huge new treatment for Coronavirus, once all the research is in and the FDA approves it for that use.  Also, a new home testing kit may soon be in use, which will help out for those unable to get into the doctor to be tested for Coronavirus, if there are symptoms that the patient has that could indicate being ill with the virus.

And then the segment comes along, where Dan blasts the mainstream media for being such useful idiots for the Chinese propaganda, especially when it comes to NOT naming the Coronavirus, "The China Virus," or "Wuhan Coronavirus," or whatever, because it is "so racist." Dan calls it the "Fake News Block" for the amount of malfeasance that comes from their reporting.  The media on the Left can report news that is never fact checked.  Their lazy base will never do that, but rather, just keep the fake stories (myths) continue to spread, just like the Chinese Coronavirus.  No, we AREN'T going to call it the "Bat Virus" as one useful idiot in the MSM (Richard Engle of NBC) claimed would avoid extreme racism... and that the bat doesn't speak Chinese. Wow...

Highly recommended to depend on Dan Bongino for more upbeat and truthful news, in my humble opinion!

Naturally, homeschooling parents who want to protect their children from some of the negative socialization that takes place in schools are viewed as sick, twisted and controlling. Apparently, no one has ever bothered to actually ask homeschooled kids whether they regret not mingling with their publicly schooled peers.

Now that my girls are both teens, I believe homeschooling socialization skills are more important than ever. In a few short years, they'll be leaving the nest and facing the job market in the real world. In this tough economy, it's important for young people to possess basic manners, have vocabularies greater than 800 words, know how to dress neatly and speak respectfully, and have solid academic credentials. It is not important that they know how to use drugs, hook up, get on welfare, or create more children to be dumped into school-day care to complete the cycle.

Call me weird.

Are we crazy? Why are we allowing the socialists to socially engineer our children in the public schools to be the way they are, as discussed in this amazing column by Patrice Lewis? Is there a way to stop this nonsense perpetrated by the Left?

Well, of course there is. But do we have the courage to make the necessary changes? What kind of changes would need to be made? An end to public education? Yes! That would be a great start! But just how would we ever get that done? I really don't know. I am not sure any of us know the solution at this time, but, don't you think we should start considering it?

I refuse to say that we can't turn it around. However, to be honest, the situation seems to be pretty bleak. The teachers' unions are very powerful. The Democrats will continue to give them strength by their actions in order to get their votes. Was that not obvious when the State Senate Democrats went AWOL in Wisconsin?

We know what mass "re-education" of the the people, one generation at a time, by "educators" that have been indoctrinated in the left-leaning "higher learning" institutions, will lead to: Tyranny. I'm just sayin'...

Have you ever noticed that socialization has now become – apparently – the sole and exclusive purpose of education? Every single homeschooler on the planet, it seems, has heard the question: "But what about socialization?" (The proven quality of homeschooling be damned.) The implication is that unless children attend public schools, their socialization skills will atrophy to the point where they will become drooling blobs unable to mingle with their coworkers at a cocktail party when they grow up.

And naturally, the ONLY place where "correct" socialization is possible is in government schools.

We have elevated this mythical necessity for "socialization" into an oracle-like status. What child can exist without government-approved social skills? How will they learn to chat, volunteer, work, shop, date, marry, or partake in any other activity unless they're inculcated with the values taught in school?

Many years ago I heard a radio interview between a homeschooling advocate and a bewildered host who asked that age-old question, "What about socialization?" The guest gave an answer I'd never considered before: "What is the purpose of school? Is it to teach academic basics, or is it to teach socialization?"

The answer, it seems, is very much the latter. To this observation I'll add that the apparent emphasis on socialization is presumably because the public schools are failing in every academic aspect. But since socialization is hard to quantify, it's therefore easy to demand.

An extreme case in point for the emphasis on socialization came out of Quebec recently in which a judge ordered three homeschooled children (ages 5, 7 and 9) into public schools so they could be socialized. In what seems like a tyrannical abuse of power, the judge then ordered the family's 3-year-old son into day care so he, too, could be socialized.

I know nothing more about this particular case except what was reported through the article. But the specifics are not the focus of this column. The tyranny of socialization is.

According to the dictionary, socialization is "a continuing process whereby an individual acquires a personal identity and learns the norms, values, behavior and social skills appropriate to his or her social position."

That sounds great. I have no objection to this definition. What I object to is the type of socialization found in public schools with which government officials seem entranced and without which they feel homeschooled kids will be unable to function.

No more Uncle Sam ~ By Barbara Simpson

Barbara Simpson cuts right to the chase, no beating around the bush. She tells us about the freedoms we will lose with ObamaCare (both for our own health care AND education), and that Obama is just getting started, because he now knows that he can push through anything he wants to do. Congress, and maybe even that other branch of government, the courts, won't stop him.

Interesting, isn't it, that the very liberals who scream and demonstrate for the "right to choose" have foisted on the entire country a law that takes away our right to choose when it comes to our basic medical care – our ultimate choice of lifestyle, residence, food choices, style of living, the doctor or dentist we prefer, the care we need and want, the kind of treatment, and ultimately the way we will spend our latter years and how we will live out our lives and die.

Those choices are gone under the Obama medical plan.

And they've only just gotten started.

I keep thinking – or perhaps I should say, hoping – that it's all a bad dream and soon I'll wake up and things will be back to the usual "normal."

Then again, reality sets in and I realize two things.

First, what's happening in and to my country isn't a bad dream and I'm not sleeping.

Second, I doubt the usual "normal" will be back any time soon. There are those who are more morose/pessimistic about it and say the American experiment is over.

I'm not sure I would go that far – yet – but we're on thin ice.

I do believe that to get this country back on course and in line with the Constitution, it will take time and a massive, focused effort to get our freedoms back.

Pretend it's a battle for freedom.

No, don't pretend, because that is exactly what it is.

With the election of Barack Obama and his gang of political henchmen in the White House, aided and abetted by the likes of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi and their acolytes in Congress, it is difficult, if not impossible at this point, for anyone who disagrees with their socialist/Marxist philosophy to even have their voices heard.

They are convinced they know what's best for everyone and they have the mandate to get it done, regardless of any opposition.

The spectacle on C-Span of the laughably labeled "debate" on health care could have been mistaken for a Monte Python skit except for two things.

It wasn't funny, and those people were playing for keeps.

It was deadly serious and a perfect example of what one-party, despotic rule is like. And that's just the beginning.

Obama relishes his growing power and believes it's his mission to keep barreling ahead with all those "changes" he alluded to during the presidential campaign.

He never really got specific. Obama used the "hope and change" mantra to delude the American people into thinking that only good things would come from his election to power. The main change Democrats wanted was for Bush and his administration to be gone. They believed that anything after that would be good and OK.

The blame for all complaints about the country and the state of politics was placed squarely on the shoulders of George W. Bush. Campaign rhetoric emphasized that if George were out of the political picture, all good would flow to everyone. Obama supporters read into the words whatever they wanted, leaving Obama with a wide open door to do whatever he wants. He is doing just that.

His policies are extreme left and rooted in his Marxist beliefs. The change he is instigating will literally change the face of this country. The massive takeover of the private sector in so many areas of commerce and life is just beginning.

Rewarding failure – only in Washington ~ By Star Parker

Secretary of Education Arne Duncan said recently, "Our K-12 agenda can be summed up in one word: reform."

Would were it true.

But what Mr. Duncan calls reform is indeed putting lipstick on a pig. In this case, the pig is Washington's never-changing formula for solving everything – spending ever increasing sums of taxpayers' money.

"Reform" means generating new ideas about how to spend and coming up with clever new titles for programs.

So today it's called "Race to the Top." Mr. Duncan has been handed $4.35 billion, taken out of last year's $830 billion stimulus bill, and given personal discretion for dispensing it to states that propose education reform ideas that strike his fancy. It's the largest discretionary sum ever given to an education secretary.

This past week, 40 states submitted proposals.

How do we know that Mr. Duncan can identify good ideas? We don't.

He says he likes charter schools and performance pay for teachers. He's open to new colors of lipstick that the pig has not sported before. But a pig is still a pig.

There appears not a shred of evidence that funneling more taxpayer dollars through Washington to states improves education. Data compiled by Heritage Foundation analysts shows that since 1970, federal spending per student, adjusted for inflation, has more than doubled with no discernible change in test scores.

Now a new study released by the Department of Health and Human Services shows that the Head Start program – the federal program started in 1965 aimed at getting pre-school low-income children prepared for school – has no impact.

Some $166 billion of federal funds has been poured into Head Start. Yet this new study shows that first graders who have been through the program perform essentially the same as those who haven't.

The curriculum she'd purchased for her three children was patently unsuited to her 16-year-old daughter, Jane. Jane was rebelling for the first time. "She tells me she doesn't want to learn physics," my friend sobbed. "Does Jane know what she wants to do when she grows up?" I asked. "Yes. She wants to be a paralegal. She's wanted to do that for years." "What's wrong with being a paralegal? That's an excellent career choice." "Nothing. I'm proud of her. But she won't know any physics." "What does a paralegal need with physics?" I asked. My friend was silent a moment. "Nothing," she admitted. After a lengthy discussion, my friend decided her daughter was mature enough to choose her own studies, which she could tailor toward her career choice. End of rebellion. This conversation led me to give some serious thought about the purpose of education, especially for older teens. Is it to cram every subject down every adolescent's throat, despite his natural talent, interest, or future career plans? Or is it to prepare a teen to enter the adult world as a useful, productive member of society? Needless to say I'm inclined toward the latter, not the former. Obviously, there are things children must know. I happen to think it's useful if a 12th-grader knows where the United States is on a map and can multiply 12 x 12. I believe a working knowledge of history and science come in handy no matter what career they choose. I believe the ability to communicate in English, verbally and in writing, is critical. These are the foundations for education. But most children eventually reach an age – like Jane – when the foundations are achieved. What's left is higher learning in various subjects. Then what? If your daughter wants to be a paralegal, is it necessary – really necessary – for her to know physics? If your son wants to be a physicist, is it really necessary that he knows the imports and exports of Zimbabwe? I know a lot of you are sputtering right now, particularly the physicists. Doubtless some of you think I'm an unedjikated troglodyte, unappreciative of the finer points of a sound education. Let me assure you that my husband and I both have master's degrees in the sciences and a passion for history. Our admiration for academics is second to none. But I believe most kids, given sufficient time to think it through, have a pretty good idea what they want to be when they grow up. After the foundations are achieved, why not let them decide what areas they should study?
