2010: Don't forget, and do tell! ~ By Herman Cain

In his column today, Herman Cain wants to remind everyone not to forget all the things that Obama and the Democrat controlled Congress have done in the past two years. Herman says that the important thing to do is to make sure to tell people that are willing to listen. Don't let people forget!

Don't forget what President Obama and the Democrat-controlled Congress did in 2010 – and tell everybody who will listen! And if they do not get outraged, then they are sleeping under a rock, and they can't get out.

Pure politicians have for years depended on voters to forget their misdeeds leading up to the next election. But things are different! Voters are not as stupid and uninformed as they used to be. People are more informed and aware of the arrogance of the current administration and Congress than ever before.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said they needed to pass the health-care deform bill first, so they can then tell us what's in the bill. They passed it, and we now know what's in the bill: an assault on our liberties, increased taxes through fines and an unprecedented expansion of government bureaucracy in our lives. Don't forget!

The president's insistence on passing the health-care deform bill against the will of the majority of the American people was a historic presidential slap in the face of the people. Poll after poll had confirmed that the people did not like this government takeover of our health-care system, but the president and the Democrat-controlled Congress did it anyway. Don't forget!

Beautiful, liberty-protecting gridlock ~ By Robert Ringer

You will easily understand what Robert Ringer is explaining in this column. Now that the Republicans have won the majority in the House, they can stop any legislation that erodes our freedom any further. Well, at least they will be able to once the 112th Congress convenes. However, what is done during the lame duck session of the 111th Congress between now and the end of the year may be more difficult to stop.

And then there is also the problem of what the Obama administration will do from now until his term ends. You never know how he might use regulatory agencies like the EPA to advance any agenda that he can't get through Congress. Or, he might just decide to allow the Federal Reserve to start printing money so that he can monetize our national debt. Oh, wait, he's already getting ready to do that. And as Michelle Malkin discusses in the video below, timing is everything:

Video provided by TheREALjohnny2k

The problem is, the timing of the debt monetization and devaluing our currency is going to cause some big problems for most Americans, in the form of inflation. When the price of groceries and gas for our cars start to spiral out of control, Americans are going to become very unhappy. Of course, back in 1980, when we had out of control inflation, it worked out very well for the country, as we were able to make Jimmy Carter a one term President, and elect President Ronald Reagan. And possibly, it could be a good thing for us again in 2012, when we elect Sarah Palin.

However, it could also be a very bad thing to live through between now and November of 2012. Umm, I'm thinking something like the end of the Weimar Republic in 1933. I can just see President Obama using his state-run propaganda machine, otherwise known as the mainstream media, in the summer of 2012, telling the American people that it is all the fault of the Republican-lead House for not passing legislation to help out the poor people who are by then rioting in the streets. And you have already seen it in the last election that recently fired many Democrats. I rarely went a day without hearing Obama and the Democrats talking about how the Republicans were responsible for not getting things done (that the American people didn't even want!).

But, it isn't rocket-science to comprehend how public disorder, or rioting, could change things. Would the Republicans stick to fiscal Conservatism and the Constitution if they are being blamed for an economic collapse?

Timing is everything. Just sayin'...

I could go on and on, but, in the end, what the midterm elections were really all about was freedom. Clearly, though I doubt most people realize it, freedom is what underlies most of the economic problems that dominate the daily news. And if a staunch Marxist is allowed to hold the reins of power much longer, Americans might just lose forever what's left of their rapidly shrinking supply of that most precious of all commodities.

That said, Mitch McConnell is right. Let's all make a commitment to bring an end to the hope-and-change, fundamental-transformation-of-America policies of Chairman Obama in 2012.

The biggest story about the midterm elections is one that seems to have escaped most conservatives, to wit:

While it's true that slightly more than half of those who voted sent a signal to Washington that they want government to drastically decrease spending, taxes and regulation, the painful reality is that slightly less than half of the voters cast their ballots in favor of Democratic candidates who, with just a few notable exceptions, want to increase spending, taxes and regulation.

I would thus caution overly exuberant Republicans that reports of the death of the progressive movement in this country have been grossly exaggerated. Many Republican victories, such as John Kasich's win over George Strickland and Pat Toomey's victory over Joe Sestak, were by razor-thin margins. Even where a race was won by as much as 15 points, that still translated into more than 40 percent of the voters giving their stamp of approval to BHO's ultra-progressive agenda.

So, what does this all mean? First, and most obvious, it means that if those people (especially the shameless swing voters, most of whom are driven by that great human defect known as instant gratification) who voted for winning Republican candidates are disappointed by what happens in Washington over the next two years, many of them might very well vote for the hope-and-change stuff again in 2012. Hmm … seems I once read something about what happens to those who do not remember the lessons of history.

I get concerned whenever I hear media talking heads blather about the need for the two parties to "come together" and show a willingness to compromise so they can "get something done." Talk about not getting it. The true tea partiers don't want Republicans to "come together" with their Democratic counterparts who want bigger government, more spending, more taxes more regulation – and less liberty.

They don't want the people they just voted into office to slow the growth of government spending; they want government spending drastically cut. They don't want the "Bush tax cuts" extended; they want more tax cuts. They don't want closer oversight of the EPA; they want the EPA defunded – or, better yet, eliminated. No need to go on; you get the idea.

But won't this kind of attitude on the part of Republicans cause gridlock? Yes! It will cause beautiful, progressive-stifling, liberty-protecting gridlock. Those who propelled tea-party candidates into office don't want the government to "get something done" if that means enacting more laws and finding new and more devious ways to increase taxes (e.g., cap-and-trade and huge increases in the money supply).

The only thing they want politicians to do is repeal all unconstitutional laws already on the books, get out of the way of entrepreneurs and the private sector, and focus on protecting the lives and property of all U.S. citizens. Whether a citizen happens to be "rich" or "poor" is irrelevant – and, quite frankly, none of the government's business. While the concern of some politicians for the perceived hardship of any particular group may make for an interesting sociological or philosophical discussion, it does not give them the right to forcibly redistribute the assets of others.

Keeping all this in mind, I have to give credit to establishment Republican Mitch McConnell, who demonstrated that he understood perfectly the message of the electorate when he said that his party's No. 1 objective is to make Barack Obama a one-term president. This, of course, brought about feigned indignation from the left.

But McConnell stuck to his guns in a speech to a Heritage Foundation audience when he said, "… if our primary legislative goals are to repeal and replace the health spending bill, to end the bailouts, cut spending and shrink the size and scope of government, the only way to do all these things is to put someone in the White House who won't veto any of these things."

Why in the world wouldn't your No. 1 objective be to get rid of the head honcho who's calling the progressive shots from the White House? It's an over-arching objective that should begin immediately and continue, in full-court-press fashion, over the next two years.

We 'the stupid' intend to fight this ~ By Herman Cain

While the government mouthpieces have been spending time talking about our anger, and being "dangerous" because the tea party patriots are getting "violent," at least they know angry. But, they don't care! Herman spells out all the (nonviolent!) events going on.
Hundreds of rallies and tea-party events are being planned across the country between now and November, and if members of Congress have the courage to hold town-hall meetings during their Easter recess, they will be packed to capacity as they were during their August recess of 2009.

These examples may not seem like a tsunami of anger and outrage, but audience reactions and callers to my nightly radio show suggest that it is real and that people are ready to fight to take back their government.

We the stupid are fighting mad, and we are going to fight!

Now that the shock of passing the Health Care Deform bill against the will of the American people has settled in a bit, the people's sentiment has gone from mad to fighting mad. President Obama and the Democrats are probably not aware of that fact, because they simply don't care!

As former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said in a statement released Friday, President Obama and the Democrats are looking back and saying, "We don't care how mad you are, we got what we wanted."

They wanted Obama-Reid-Pelosi care, and they got it using consistent talking points that did not always match with reality, gimmicky accounting, factual distortions and bribes to congressional Democrats to secure their votes. They wanted the American people to know that their political agenda will not be stopped by Republicans, public opinion, e-mails and phone calls, rallies or even a huge potential voter backlash in November 2010.

They wanted the American people to know that despite what they say and promise about transparency and reaching across the political aisles, they believe they know best what is good for us and the future of our country. It is arrogance and political elitism on steroids.

The president and his administration, along with congressional Democrats, believe the anger and opposition will subside by Election Day in November. They also believe it is just about health care and that the stupid public just does not understand their intentions. That's their problem. We the stupid do understand their intentions, and we are not going to be a sit-down-and-shut-up citizenry.

We the stupid are angry about passage of Health Care Deform, proposed cap-and-trade-and-tax-and-kill legislation, the pending Employee No Choice Act, tsunami spending and an abundance of sneak-a-taxes they hope we will not notice.

Their intentions are to turn this country into the United States of Europe, but the American people are saying not so fast! They are raising their voices and turning up the heat.

The Beatles' tax-man prophecy ~ By Joseph Farah

Joseph asks, "how long will it be before government figures out a way to tax our feet?" I think we actually now know the answer to that one. Think ObamaCare.
Who would have imagined in 1966 we'd actually be taxing the heat?

Who could have imagined it?

How long will it be before government figures out a way to tax our feet?
By Joseph Farah

In 1966, George Harrison of the Beatles wrote a song that seemed, well, a little absurd to most of us.

It was called "Tax Man."

The Beatles had recently been propelled into the nouveau riche stratosphere by their global success – still unprecedented to this day in pop music.

But they were evidently surprised at how much of their wealth was seized by government.

So they wrote an angry protest song unlike most of the protest songs of that era.

It wasn't about war.

It wasn't about civil rights.

It wasn't about nuclear proliferation.

Instead, it was about the mean old government confiscating people's wealth.
Let me tell you how it will be;
There's one for you, nineteen for me.
'Cause I'm the taxman,
Yeah, I'm the taxman.

Should 5 per cent appear too small,
Be thankful I don't take it all.
'Cause I'm the taxman,
Yeah, I'm the taxman.
Today, more of us can relate – maybe, in fact, about 50 percent of Americans, those who pay taxes so that the other 50 percent don't have to pay them.

However, that's not the point of my story.

I recently heard this song, again, in a whole new light.

I heard something I never noticed before after listening to this song a thousand times.
If you drive a car, car, I'll tax the street;
If you try to sit, sit, I'll tax your seat;
If you get too cold, I'll tax the heat;
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet.
Obviously, the Beatles were using hyperbole to make a point – illustrating absurdity by being absurd, as Rush Limbaugh would put it.

Tax the street?

Well not so absurd, after all. In fact, government has always used tolls to tax streets. Today governments are literally selling off public roadways built with taxpayer dollars to private companies to maintain them with expanded use of tolls.

Tax your seat?

The county where I live has a property tax on office equipment used in the home. So, literally, government officials want to tax the seat I use to conduct business.

But check out the next line.

Who could have imagined in 1966 that government would actually figure out ways to "tax the heat"? How preposterous must that have sounded 44 years ago? Pretty preposterous, as I recall. In fact, that's why I never before connected this lyric with what we're actually experiencing today.

Isn't that what the phony carbon tax schemes are all about?

My point?

Forty-four years ago, who could have imagined that George Harrison's "Tax Man" nightmare would literally become a reality?

State of the Union grade: 'F' ~ By Chuck Norris

Commentary from WorldNetDaily
Chuck Norris By Chuck Norris Posted: January 25, 2010 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2010 Thomas Jefferson wrote in 1806 what many of us were thinking a week ago when Scott Brown won the U.S. Senate seat in Massachusetts: "I sincerely congratulate you on the triumph of republicanism in Massachusetts. The hydra (or many-headed monster) of federalism has now lost all its heads but two." Of course, Jefferson was referring to the remaining two heads of Connecticut and Delaware, yielding to the overarching federalist powers. A great battle was won – but the war was not over. And such is our struggle today from the overreaching power of the federal government. Remember when Washington powerbrokers, as well as mainstream media like CNN and MSNBC, gave little press to the tea-party rallies? Remember when they mocked cross-country town-hall meetings last summer as pockets of resistance and labeled us patriots, constitutionalists and independents as extremists or radicals who had little sway? That has all changed with the election of Republican Scott Brown to the U.S. Senate seat long held by the late Ted Kennedy. Whether you agree with him or not, Brown's election was a real turning point in our country. It truly is a repudiation of all that Washington is fighting for and forcing like a ramrod down our country's throat. It serves as a reminder that patriots can indeed rally across the country and change the flow of Washington. But does Washington get it? President Obama? For a moment, I thought they might (how temporarily naïve or overly optimistic of me). But then I listened to President Obama being interviewed by ABC's George Stephanopoulos the morning after the Massachusetts election. The president's exact words were: "And here's my assessment of not just the vote in Massachusetts, but the mood around the country. The same thing that swept Scott Brown into office swept me into office. People are angry, and they're frustrated. Not just because of what's happened in the last year or two years, but what's happened over the last eight years." Wrong, Mr. President. What swept Scott Brown into office was a national disdain for what your administration is doing and has done to our country. It's no longer an anger or frustration with Bush's presidency, but yours. It's not what's happened in the preceding eight years, but the past year since you've become president. (Are you really still blaming President Bush?) Mr. President, it's time to face the music, and help America to do the same. This Wednesday evening, you will give your State of the Union address. And millions upon millions of us are even now wondering if you will again sugarcoat the truth – if you will pad your performance over this past year or confess that the path Washington is taking is plummeting our country deeper into the abyss. If you convey the real status of the union, then you must confess that we are truly no better off (and much worse off in many respects) than when you first took seat in the Oval Office. About this I'll give you credit: that you have indeed fulfilled your promise to "fundamentally transform the United States of America." And you've done so in record-breaking speed – one year, to be exact. READ FULL STORY >

Congratulations, Sen. Brown ~ By Ellis Washington

Commentary from WorldNetDaily
Ellis Washington By Ellis Washington Posted: January 23, 2010 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2010 Editor's note: Ellis Washington's new radio program, "The Washington Report," airs Thursdays at 11 a.m. Eastern on 1620 AM in Atlanta, Ga. It can be heard online at the Radio Sandy Springs website.
It does not take a majority to prevail ... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men. ~ Samuel Adams
I love those stirring words of Samuel Adams (1722-1803), one of my favorite historical figures, also known as "The Father of the American Revolution." Would to God we had 535 Samuel Adamses in Congress today. During pivotal times of our history, Massachusetts has been at the epicenter of America's republic. We all remember the two great tea parties that began a tsunami of political reform starting in Massachusetts and quickly spread throughout the country:
  • May 10, 1773 – The Boston Tea Party lit the fuse of the American Revolution, which eventually destroyed the shackles of British tyranny, monarchy and confiscatory taxation policies from the colonies;
  • April 15, 2009 – The first Tax Day Tea Party was started on Tax Day in Boston, Mass., leading to a steady decline of President Barack Obama in the polls and increasing opposition to his radical Marxist agenda to "remake America," including his socialist health-care program currently stalled in Congress.
The first act of defiance by our forefathers 237 years ago established the republic; the last act will perhaps save our republic from the fascist policies of President Obama and the Democrats. With Tuesday's victory of Scott Brown over Massachusetts Democrat Attorney General Martha Coakley, seismic shock waves were sent across the world. The sword of Damocles now hangs ominously over the head Obama and Majority Leader Harry Reid's tenuous 60 votes required to pass their Marxist health-care bill in the Senate. READ FULL STORY >

Massachusetts Miracle

Video provided by mnmajoritydotorg
January 12, 2010 - Massachusetts Miracle On January 19, 2010, a special election will be held in Massachusetts to select a new US Senator. Mainstream media pundits would have you believe Democrat Maratha Coakley is the undisputed leader in the race. But the so-called 'experts' may be in for a bit of a surprise. Freedom-loving Americans from across our nation are rising-up to support Republican candidate Scott Brown. In the days leading up to the election, Brown has advanced such that some polls now actually show him within the margin of error. Brown would provide the critical 41st vote in the Senate to break the Democrat's filibuster-proof majority and stop the unprecedented assault on our personal liberties that is now taking place in Congress. Scott Brown has pledged to vote against the government takeover of our health care system and is also opposed to cap-and-trade. Martha Coakley, on the other hand, supports Obama's socialistic agenda. The political elite should not underestimate the resilience of the American people to defend their liberty from a tyrannical government.

We can have a better America in 2010 ~ By Herman Cain

Commentary from WorldNetDaily
Herman Cain By Herman Cain Posted: December 28, 2009 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 It is hard to imagine that we can have a better America in 2010 with all the things that got worse in 2009. The economy got worse. The unemployment rate got much worse. The war in Afghanistan got worse. The national debt got much worse. The annual deficit got worse. The general attitude of the American people got worse. The favorability of Congress got much worse. And the president's favorability ratings got much worse. But we can have a better 2010 than 2009, and here's how. First, remember the words of the Declaration of Independence: "That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends (life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness) it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it." We have some altering and abolishing to do to make 2010 better than 2009. It concludes at the ballot box in November 2010. It starts with people getting informed, engaged, involved and energized about the issues, the solutions, the deceptions and the lies about what is being forced onto the American people. I know this is the "season for the reason" for being thankful, and we are. But we have to do some things differently in 2010 to keep this country as the greatest country in the world. Thomas Jefferson said, "The American people won't make a mistake, if they are given all of the facts." President Ronald Reagan also reminded us of that truth. That's what the tea party rallies, conferences and demonstration bus tours are all about. That's what the public anger and outrage is all about, even though the president and the Democratic leadership are ignoring it. People are learning the facts and the truth. This time the people will remember in November. READ FULL STORY >

The Sky is Falling! ~ By Dave Johannes

Commentary from Uncommon Sense
By Dave Johannes October 26, 2009
“If you want total security, go to prison. There you’re fed, clothed, given medical care and so on. The only thing lacking… is freedom”. – Dwight D. Eisenhower
In 1943, as a comment on the war Walt Disney produced a cartoon version of the classic Chicken Little. In this version of the tale, Foxy Loxy is a cunning villain who uses a number of psychological tactics to drive a farm full of animals into a cave to be eaten. Slightly disturbing and quite political it was a not so subtle message about manipulation of the facts and emotions to gain compliance. The stimulus package, healthcare reform, climate change … The sky is falling and if we don’t take action right away… look familar? Watch the video – yeah it’s a cartoon but what a powerful message…

How to end the recession in 12 months ~ By Herman Cain

From WorldNetDaily
By Herman Cain Posted: October 12, 2009 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 Unemployment has hit 9.8 percent. New jobless claims grow each month. Federal spending is increasing exponentially, while current tax revenues are decreasing. The value of the dollar is in a nose dive. The deficit for fiscal year 2009, which ended Sept. 30, 2009, has come in at $1.4 trillion dollars, nearly four times the deficit of any previous year in history. Business bankruptcies are on the rise, while some businesses are literally hanging on by their cash-flow fingernails. Newsflash! The $789 billion "stimulus bill" is not working. And no, don't give me that baloney that the stimulus needs more time. The bill was philosophically flawed from the beginning, but the big-government-and-more-taxes members of Congress refused to even consider solutions offered by the less-government-and-fewer-taxes members. Meanwhile, Congress is trying to ram a $1 trillion-plus health-care deform bill down our throats, with a Cap & Trade & Tax & Kill bill waiting in the wings in the Senate. The Democrats are also secretly talking about a second "stimulus" bill, but they are not calling it a stimulus. I call it more government spending with no new results. Here are three suggestions that would get this country out of a recession in 12 months, not that the Democrats will listen or even consider any of these ideas. These are not original ideas. They are just great ideas from several sources that Congress and the president are ignoring because they would result in less government control. The reason that we would be out of the recession in 12 months is that businesses would get excited and start planning to grow their business instead of making plans to just survive. It's just that simple. The prospect of bigger government and more taxes does not inspire businesses to grow. [CLICK HERE TO READ MORE]

Your choice: Get off the couch or socialism ~ By Herman Cain

From WorldNetDaily
Herman Cain By Herman Cain Posted: September 28, 2009 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 There's an old saying that there are three kinds of people in the world. There are people who make things happen, people who watch things happen and people who ask what happened. The latter group will wake up in the not-too-distant future and ask what happen to the United States of America if they just sit there. The big government tax-and-spend liberals are happy with this irrefutable government power grab of our liberties, while too many conservatives at heart are just sitting on the couch. And since the mainstream media is not connecting the dots about what is really happening, here are some recent examples: The "Cap & Trade & Tax & Kill" bill was passed in the House of Representatives under the false premise of a global warming crisis. Only eight Republicans voted for this bill, and none of the 211 Democrats read the bill before voting in favor of the bill. The president and the Democrat-controlled Congress are attempting to confiscate total control of our nation's health-care system using often disputed and misleading information, while claiming the end result will not be socialized medicine. This claim has been repeatedly shown to be false by dozens of organizations and hundreds of writers. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus attempted to silence the private insurance company Humana Inc. for daring to criticize one part of his proposed health-care bill (see related video below). (See Baucus Bludgeons Humana). This is both an abuse of power through intimidation and a violation of the First Amendment to the Constitution. [CLICK HERE TO READ MORE]

The Democrats' 'control gene' ~ By Henry Lamb

By Henry Lamb Posted: August 08, 2009 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 There must be some yet-undiscovered gene in the DNA of people who feel the need to control others. Kings, mullahs, tyrants, despots, dictators and Democrats are all afflicted with this malady. Not since Franklin Roosevelt has evidence of this disorder been so rampant in Washington. The Obama regime is restructuring and empowering government to ensure that all people everywhere are subject to its control. First, understand the strategy: 1) identify problem(s); 2) devise action plan; 3) authorize plan in law; 4) implement plan. Urgent problems the Obama regime has identified include: the economy, global warming and health care. Further down the priority list are Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Russia, education, national security, national sovereignty, and at the very bottom of the list are the concerns of people who are not infected with the "control" gene. At the heart of Obama's action plan to deal with every problem is the principle of government control over individual action. Consider the first problem: the economy. Obama's first action was to infuse failing financial institutions with borrowed money, with government strings attached. In exchange for the money, government gained veto power over the management of private corporations. Had the people in power not been infected with the "control" gene, financial institutions that had made bad business decisions would have paid the consequences, and the self-correcting free-market financial system would, ultimately, have been stronger. But alas, the poisoned tentacles of government now permeate the financial system. The auto industry, an important part of the economy, experienced the same kind of intrusion, with direct government control over the naming of CEOs, directors, budgets and operating plans. Consider the second problem: global warming. The immediate plan of action was for government to take control over private industries that emit carbon dioxide – that is every business that uses fossil fuel. The plan, euphemistically labeled "cap and trade," would arbitrarily limit the quantity of carbon emissions that could be produced by every business. Government control would be exercised in the form of a tax levied against every business that exceeds the government-dictated emission limit. Government's power to tax behavior it does not want, and to reward with tax rebates and incentives the behavior it does want, allows the state to virtually control the behavior of the people. The "cash for clunkers" program, for example, gives $4,500 of your tax dollars to individuals who behave the way governments wants. Ultimately, the cost of Obama's global warming action plan will cost individuals thousands of dollars each year, and will be passed on to everyone who uses energy. It doesn't matter to the people who are infected with the "control" gene that the global warming action plan will not affect global climate in any detectible way. Now consider health care. Obama's plan of action is what he calls a "public option." This is a government-run insurance program financed with your tax dollars. Rep. Barney Frank correctly identifies this program as the first step toward a single-payer health care system. A single-payer (read: government payer) system puts the entire health care system under the direct control of the government. Consequently, every individual who needs health care would be subject to the whims of a government bureaucrat or the winds of political favor. These are the problems and a brief description of the plans of action. Now take a look at the process by which the plans are given the authority of law. The Obama regime relies heavily on the Cloward-Piven strategy for forcing change through orchestrated crisis. This is the strategy that informed Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals" and ACORN community organizer Barack Obama. This strategy consists of overwhelming the system with evidence of the problem to effect a predetermined solution. [CONTINUE READING]

Green with envy ~ By Patrice Lewis

Patrice LewisBy Patrice Lewis Posted: July 25, 2009 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 So I hear India has been recognized by the National Geographic Society for being the greenest country in the world. Isn't that nice? According to the international polling firm GlobeScan, India earned this distinction through its dedication to "environmentally sustainable behavior" such as eating locally grown foods, lack of meat consumption, scarcity of electricity and running water, and deficiency of motorized transportation (public or otherwise). India scored first with a Greendex score of 59.5. (America scored an embarrassingly low 43.7.) I assume the National Geographic Society would be delighted if everyone scored 100 by living naked in caves. The article does admit India scored this high "more out of compulsion than conviction." I'm sure if someone offered to provide all Indians with indoor toilets and clean running water, they would reject such amenities lest they disrupt their commitment to saving the planet (and imperil their chances for future awards). Sadly, India's "greenness" is decreasing as portions of the country adopt modern amenities and pull themselves out of poverty. Shocking, I know. How could they be so thoughtless? "India is … the only country surveyed experiencing increased bottled water consumption," snarks the article, without perhaps considering that water in many parts of India isn't treated and is rife with disease. I'd drink bottled water, too. Regarding the scores for other countries, GlobeScan gloats, "… economic troubles may have worked to the environment's advantage. … Among those who reported that they reduced energy consumption at home over the past year, some 80 percent say that cost was one of the top two reasons they did so." Translation: The poorer you are, the greener you are. Cave living, anyone? Fortunately much of India is experiencing a severe drought, resulting in crop failures across the country. For many rural poor, this means potential starvation because electricity and irrigation (which might otherwise balance agriculture during a drought) are nonexistent. Isn't this great? It means India can keep its high Greendex score for the foreseeable future. Take a look at the Greendex calculator quiz, designed to test your personal Greendex score. Under the section 8, which surveys one's opinions about the environment, there used to be a statement along the lines of "Less developed countries should have their standard of living raised closer to that of the United States." Agreeing with this statement dinged your "Greendex" score. I notice the quiz no longer has that statement. Perhaps India complained. This strikes me as the cruelest expression of the green movement – to self-righteously condemn the bulk of the world's population to grinding poverty, then praise them for their commitment to saving the earth. Twisted, seriously twisted. I understand the reason behind Greenies' venomous condemnation of Western Civilization, particularly America. We maintain a high standard of living through equally high resource consumption. Every time you get in your car, sleep in a bed, drink potable water or eat three square meals a day, you are more fortunate than a huge percentage of the globe's population. (That's why I find it so ticklishly cute when someone claims they're saving the earth by, oh, driving to a "save the whale" rally.) But should I praise Third World countries for their generous assistance to Gaia by starving to death? Should I congratulate India for its widespread involuntary poverty as a means to save the earth? Should I discourage poor countries from improving their standard of living lest they use more resources and (gasp) maybe even have indoor plumbing? I see hypocrisy all over this. Greenies praise poverty-stricken countries for their minimal use of resources while they themselves take hot showers, commute to their nonprofit office jobs (taking public transportation for granted) and self-righteously shop at farmer's markets for organic bean curd. If they're so hot to save the world's resources through poverty, they should be the first to reduce their wardrobe to a single outfit and live in a box. Think of the resources they'd save! I'm not justifying excessive consumerism or a go-to-hell attitude toward wise stewardship of our resources. Far from it; that's why we ourselves live green. But I feel compelled to point out that it's usually someone wealthy enough to choose poverty and then proclaim their lofty and superior greenness, who yell the loudest when a Third World country starts to pull itself out of privation and by extension uses more resources. Ready or not, judgment day is coming! ~ By Henry Lamb

By Henry Lamb Posted: July 25, 2009 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 In his great old hymn, Will L. Thompson tells us that "There's a great day coming – by and by." Thompson's great day, of course, is judgment day, "When the saints and the sinners shall be parted right and left." Judgment day in America is coming. It's inevitable. It is impossible for a nation to borrow its way out of debt. And it is impossible for a free people to be forever enslaved by regulatory chains. Thompson's hymn asks: "Are you ready for the judgment day?" Ready or not, judgment day is coming. Obama and his left-leaning cronies have already borrowed more than all the past presidents, and he is pushing his cronies to run up another trillion dollars of debt to enslave the entire health care system in regulatory chains of government. Obama and his left-leaning cronies are rushing to forge regulatory chains around every citizen who uses energy, using the bizarre excuse that these measures are required to prevent the planet from overheating – when mountains of scientific evidence says otherwise. Obama and his left-leaning cronies are rushing to restrict the use of privately owned land by claiming authority to regulate activities that may affect the waters of the United States – which they define to be all water, anywhere it may fall, flow, or accumulate. For 20 years, Obama championed the black liberation theology of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, but since political pressure forced his resignation from Wright's church, Obama has deliberately distanced himself from Christianity, at Georgetown University, by ending the White House Prayer Breakfast and by avoiding church in general. He even declared the United States to be a non-Christian nation. On the other side of the political aisle, there is growing evidence that the "saints" are getting ready for the judgment day. That day will come Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, (congressional elections) when the political saints and the sinners shall be parted right and left. It will be a great day if Obama's left-leaning cronies in the House and the Senate are sent packing by free people who are sick and tired of letting government continue to wrap regulatory chains around them. It will be a great day if Obama's left-leaning cronies are unable to force their "crap and charade" energy tax into law. It will be a great day if Obama's left-leaning cronies are unable to confiscate the nation's health care industry in order to ration services only to those they deem worthy. It will be a great day, indeed, if the left-leaning Obama cronies are turned out of office on judgment day. Are you ready for the judgment day? Thousands and thousands of people are getting right with their conscience. The guilt of apathy and fear of left-leaning lunacy has mobilized people from one end of the nation to the other to gather in tea parties to express their dissatisfactions with the bankrupting, enslaving policies of the liberal left. More important, they are organizing in every state, in every county, in every precinct, to get the right people to the polls to ensure that the trumpets will blow and the angels will sing in celebration of a glorious victory for freedom and common sense on judgment day. Palin Staying Public

Greta Van Sustrand and former Gov. Mike Huckabee discuss Gov. Sarah Palin's op-ed in the Washington Post on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, "The 'Cap And Tax' Dead End," and what may be in Sarah's future:
Not everyone is so enthused about Sarah Palin's column as I alluded to yesterday, in "It's just what they do (so consider the source!)." I was watching Hannity last night and caught Hollywood lefty Tom Arnold denegrating Sarah and her column. And I'm not giving Arnold any slack, even if he is an Iowa boy. He went to the dark side of the liberals out on the left coast... The Hollywood influence has turned his brain to Conservative-bashing mush, which happens. The 'Cap And Tax' Dead End ~ By Sarah Palin

By Sarah Palin Tuesday, July 14, 2009 There is no shortage of threats to our economy. America's unemployment rate recently hit its highest mark in more than 25 years and is expected to continue climbing. Worries are widespread that even when the economy finally rebounds, the recovery won't bring jobs. Our nation's debt is unsustainable, and the federal government's reach into the private sector is unprecedented. Unfortunately, many in the national media would rather focus on the personality-driven political gossip of the day than on the gravity of these challenges. So, at risk of disappointing the chattering class, let me make clear what is foremost on my mind and where my focus will be: I am deeply concerned about President Obama's cap-and-trade energy plan, and I believe it is an enormous threat to our economy. It would undermine our recovery over the short term and would inflict permanent damage. American prosperity has always been driven by the steady supply of abundant, affordable energy. Particularly in Alaska, we understand the inherent link between energy and prosperity, energy and opportunity, and energy and security. Consequently, many of us in this huge, energy-rich state recognize that the president's cap-and-trade energy tax would adversely affect every aspect of the U.S. economy. There is no denying that as the world becomes more industrialized, we need to reform our energy policy and become less dependent on foreign energy sources. But the answer doesn't lie in making energy scarcer and more expensive! Those who understand the issue know we can meet our energy needs and environmental challenges without destroying America's economy. [CONTINUE READING]

Gore boasts: 'Global governance' coming with carbon tax

Tells conference U.S. responding to warming threat with 'cap-and-trade' By Bob Unruh Posted: July 10, 2009 9:50 pm Eastern © 2009 WorldNetDaily Former Vice President Al Gore, whose "An Inconvenient Truth" video epistle on the claims of global warming has not weathered recent scientific research, now has promised at a conference in the United Kingdom that the impending virtual energy tax under the U.S. "cap-and-trade" legislation will bring about "global governance." Gore, who this year famously left his Nashville mansion's driveway brightly illuminated during the "Earth Hour" event that promoted energy savings, was speaking at the Smith School World Forum on Enterprise and the Environment. He cited the "cap-and-trade" legislation in the U.S. Congress that by President Obama's own estimate would cause utility bills to skyrocket for American consumers. Those taxes are good, Gore said. Cap-and-tax: Government vs. America ~ By David Limbaugh

By David Limbaugh Posted: July 10, 2009 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 There is still time to stop the legislative monstrosity known as the Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade bill before the Senate approves it. But for that to happen, Americans must learn how bad it is. Let's briefly review the basics: the bill is ostensibly designed to curb man-caused carbon emissions (presumably without outlawing breathing) to retard global warming. Even if we accept, for purposes of argument, the assumptions of radical, hysterical leftist environmentalists that man-caused global warming will destroy the planet if evil, rich capitalists don't radically curtail their own contributions to the catastrophe, Waxman-Markey would not prevent this Armageddon. Climate scientist Chip Knappenberger, of New Hope Environmental Services, calculates that the bill would only reduce Earth's temperature by 0.1 to 0.2 degree Celsius by 2100. The Heritage Foundation's Ben Lieberman says he's found no "decent refutation of the assertion that the temperature impact would be inconsequential." Unfortunately, the bill's negative impact on the economy would not be inconsequential. Lieberman says the bill would cause estimated job losses averaging about 1.15 million from 2012-2030, and the cumulative projected loss in gross domestic product would be almost $10 trillion by 2035. The national debt from this bill alone, disregarding the multiple bailouts, stimulus packages and health care "reform," would increase by 2035 for a family of four by 26 percent, or $115,000. Heritage is not alone in making these claims. The far more liberal Brookings Institution estimates the bill would cost 1.8 percent of GDP in 2035 and 2.5 percent by 2050. Heritage's "Foundry" blog concludes, "Economists from liberal think tanks, conservative think tanks, and industry associations agree that Waxman-Markey will reduce income by hundreds of billions of dollars per year." Crime(s) of the Century ~ By DOUG POWERS

By Doug Powers Posted: June 29, 2009 1:00 am Eastern © 2009
Now they're planning the crime of the century Well what will it be? Read all about their schemes and adventuring It's well worth a fee So roll up and see How they rape the universe How they've gone from bad to worse Who are these men of lust, greed, and glory? Rip off the masks and let's see. Supertramp – Crime of the Century
The above song needs a plural sequel called "Crimes of the Century," because I'd be thrilled if Congress were only planning one crime at any given time these days, but now there are so many that it's hard to keep up with. One of those crimes of the century that is still in the planning stages, but is close to unfortunate reality, is cap and trade – otherwise known as the Waxman-Markey bill. "Cap and trade" passed through the House of Representatives Friday afternoon by a close 219-212 vote. Many of the same politicians who bashed Bernard Madoff over the head for his Ponzi scheme voted to do something similar multiplied many times over – but in order to "save the planet" from evil carbon-based pollutants like … you and me. Ohio Rep. John Boehner referred to Waxman-Markey as a "pile of excrement" (though Boehner used a different word). Frankly, I think this is an insult … to piles of excrement. The U.S. government and its collection of worms, weasels and vermin are wonderfully adept at exploiting people who haven't even been born yet, and they're at it again and they won't stop until they're made to stop. [YOU MUST READ THE REST OF THIS COLUMN!]
Note: Doug has taken the Twitter plunge! You can follow his ramblings at ThePowersThatBe. Here are a couple extra little treats for you, featuring the song mentioned above by my favorite group, Supertramp:
