Time 2 Escape WIFLI Briefing for Wednesday, Feb 29, 2012

Welcome to this edition of Time 2 Escape WIFLI Briefing!

What is WIFLI?
You may be wondering what the acronym "WIFLI" means. I started out by calling these issues the Time 2 Escape Daily, but that didn't work out very well. I quickly learned that putting these issues together on a daily basis was a task I was unable to accomplish. To replace "Daily" in the title, I coined the acronym WIFLI, which literally means "When I Feel Like It." Putting together a post on this blog WIFLI works much better for my schedule, and for the higher quality of each issue that is eventually published!
Today's introductory commentary won't seem very robust compared to past briefings. There's a reason for that.

No, it isn't because Rick Santorum didn't end up winning in Michigan. There are no sour grapes here. In fact, Santorum may actually end up with more delegates from Michigan than Mitt Romney. I'm okay with that!

Actually, it is a day in this briefing where I believe that the stories and commentaries I've included will speak for themselves. There isn't a lot that I could add or expound on. And I'm okay with that, too!

This might just be a good time for me to give you the reading assignment for the day(s) and allow you to see the things that I believe that you need to know for now, and in the future. I'm not enough of a control freak, or even arrogant enough, to assume that without my "guidance" in this part of the briefing that you need your hand held to get through another issue. In other words, I am not going to try being Rush Limbaugh with half my brain tied behind my back. I'm not going to try that at home! That's dangerous, because it may be time for my readers to figure out what may be on my mind on their own... for once.

Besides, it's time for me to eat dinner and get to bed. It may be time for you to learn on your own. I'm just sayin'...

Inhofe: Cap and trade is 'dead, gone, forever'
Says climate-change skeptics have won debate over global warming
Via WND ~ From The Daily Caller ~ By Will Rahn ~ Published: Feb 27, 2012, 7:12 PM

Oklahoma Sen. James Inhofe, the ranking Republican member of the Environment and Public Works committee, told The Daily Caller on Monday that climate change skeptics have won the debate over global warming on Capitol Hill.

“We’ve won the fight because there’s no way in the world they could pass through legislation a cap and trade bill,” Inhofe said, referring to proposed laws that would limit carbon emissions. “It’s dead, gone, forever.”

Inhofe, the author of “The Greatest Hoax: How the Global Warming Conspiracy Threatens Your Future,” says that he initially believed claims that humans were responsible for climate change. But after reviewing the science behind the claim, Inhofe now says he believes that the theory is a lie, and that the United Nations is largely responsible for promoting it.

“The history goes back to 1972 when this whole thing started,” Inhofe said. “And who was it? It wasn’t Al Gore. It wasn’t MoveOn.org. It was the United Nations.”

Congressman Allen West blasts Obama apologies over Afghanistan Koran burning
From Examiner.com ~ By Adam Taxin ~ Published Monday, Feb 27, 2012, 2:42 PM

U.S. Congressman Lt. Col. Allen West (R-FL)
The latest round of perpetual Muslim outrage and ingratitude involves the seizure and dispoal of Korans [apparently paid for by U.S. taxpayers] at an Afghanistan jail, following a situation in which, according to Andrew McCarthy, "jihadists imprisoned there were using them not for prayer but to communicate incendiary messages."

As McCarthy wrote: "The soldiers dispatched to burn refuse from the jail were not the officials who had seized the books, had no idea they were burning Korans, and tried desperately to retrieve the books when the situation was brought to their attention."

Numerous riots, corpses and casualty-causing attacks on U.S. troops (there of course to protect and help build Afghanistan) later, Barack Obama has issued an apology (not necessarily on behalf of the American people): "I wish to express my deep regret for the reported incident. . . . I extend to you and the Afghani people my sincere apologies."

Defense minister warns about Iran's 'secret weapons'
'We have not yet revealed all of our capabilities'
From WND ~ By Reza Kahlili ~ Published Tuesday, Feb 28, 2012

In an interview with the Fars News Agency today, Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi claimed that Iran is in possession of secret weapons along with top secret capabilities that could be used to confront the United States.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has many hidden capabilities, which are kept for rainy days,” Vahidi said in the interview. “We have not yet revealed all our capabilities.”

Referring to the U.S. assets positioned in the Persian Gulf, Vahidi stated: “These days Americans badly fear that an incident happens in the region and they can’t stand against the Islamic Republic’s firm positions vis-à-vis that given event.”

Vahidi then, in an ominous warning to America, said, “Undoubtedly, since our defense is an independent and defensive one based on our own defensive policies, special defense doctrines and internal capabilities, the U.S. will face a completely new environment when [it] gets involved with the new issues that Iran is pursuing and it will be obliged to think of this new environment.”

The Iranian defense minister went on to say that the American armed forces’ passivity in a possible confrontation with the Islamic regime’s forces will be due to the fact that Iran has not shown all weapons in its arsenal.

Why Santorum’s Michigan Loss Could Be Worse Than It Seems
From Talking Points Memo ~ By Evan McMorris-Santoro ~ Posted Feb 28, 2012, 11:37 PM

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Sure, Rick Santorum gave Mitt Romney a run for his money in his home state. And he should be proud of that. But by not pulling it off, signs point to Santorum making things much harder on himself moving forward than the results indicate.

His primaries party took place in a downtown hotel ballroom at the opulent Amway Grand, where Team Santorum hosted a low-key party to a not-huge crowd. Indicative of his pared-down campaign there were few staff and some strange failed sound cues. The crowd milled around, mostly keeping silent until Santorum entered the room when they gave him some full-throated cheers.

Santorum’s spin is simple: he got close in a state he never should have, the state where Romney was born and raised. That’s a win.

It’s a feeling his team here tonight were keen to push. But there were also concerns about clouds on the horizon thanks to the way Santorum went about getting as close as he did.

Stimulus is killing us
Government's deficit spending is 'like your brain on drugs'
From WND Commentary ~ By Herman Cain ~ Published Feb 27, 2012

HERMAN CAIN
The so-called stimulus package passed by the Democrat Congress and signed by President Obama in 2009 was not the first such attempt by Washington to stimulate economic growth by spending money the government did not have. It was merely the most obscene and the clearest evidence yet that such “stimuli” is akin to the kind people often put into their bodies.

Figuring that a $100 billion stimulus package like the kind that saw the Bush administration send taxpayers $1,000 checks in 2008 was for small-timers, Obama convinced an all-too-willing Congress to go even bigger and balloon the deficit by $862 billion to supposedly spur economic growth.

The economy was in big trouble, so we needed to think big! Translation: spend big! If we didn’t, the president warned, unemployment would exceed 8 percent.

As we all know, the unemployment rate exceeded 10 percent after the impotent stimulus. Even now, it has not been below 8 percent since it first exceeded that level, and it is currently hovering around 8.5 percent.

In 2011, unable to pretend the economy was getting better, Obama asked the new Congress, which now included a Republican House, to give him another $400 billion stimulus. This time, he was told Congress had cut up his stimulus credit card.

End taxes on manufacturing to help restore U.S. economy
From The Detroit News Opinion ~ By Rick Santorum ~ February 20, 2012 at 1:00 am

Michigan has lost 143,000 jobs since President Obama took office. Over a quarter of a million workers have left the labor force. Michigan's official unemployment is more than 9 percent. In Michigan, as in the rest of the country, if you ask people whether they are better off than they were four years ago, the answer is no.

Michigan is not naturally the land of unemployment. We're a nation that meets challenges and overcomes them. We'll meet the challenges of today, we'll persevere, and we'll succeed. We'll do that not by placing our faith in government to solve our problems, but by trusting in the goodness of the American people and its institutions.

When my grandfather first came to America, before he set out for the coal mines of southwest Pennsylvania, he actually came to Detroit and worked in the auto factories for two years. Now his grandson is running for president of the United States. That's what makes America great.

Some in America don't understand what makes America great. Last Monday President Obama sent to Congress a budget. It has massive tax and spending increases and continues our unsustainable budget deficits.

America has tried three years of higher spending and increased government intervention. It has never worked. It cannot work.

America can do better. Much better.

Time 2 Escape WIFLI Briefing for Wednesday, Feb 15, 2012

Welcome to this edition of Time 2 Escape WIFLI!

If this keeps up, I may require intervention. In my quest for all the news I can find outside of what mainstream media allows us to see and hear, I keep finding more and more troubling stories. When I start checking out the news sites I frequent WIFLI (see above), I usually have no problem stumbling on yet more stress inducing scoops. But wait, maybe there is a reason for that.

There is a reason why many people I know are pretty much oblivious to things going on in the world and this country. I think they have decided that they can live a less stressful life by not noticing or caring what is going on outside of their own lives. Who can blame them?

Well, unfortunately, for those of us that want America to remain free, I guess those that stay ignorant of all that is going on, especially right now, aren't really going to be informed enough to vote for the candidates next Fall that may give us a chance to maintain our freedom. Our only hope is that at least a few people out there that ignored the news in the past will wake up in time. Hopefully, many of those people will stumble across blog posts like this and decide that it's time to become informed.

In order to reduce the stress that may arise from reading the following stories and columns, I've added a couple things at the end of this post in OUTSIDE of the BOX that should help. Ironically, the Ralph Marston excerpt is called, "Drop the negativity." And in that famous song by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush, Kate sings, "You worry too much...". But the theme in that song is, "Don't give up."

It does seem like we are being overwhelmed by the globalist conspiracy to take away our freedom, and how are we going to fight that? There's really only one way, and it may take generations before victory can be obtained. Stay informed and keep others informed, and refuse to ever give up. I'm just sayin'...

Covert ops have Israel placing ships in position
Thought to be posted to guide pre-emptive attack on nuclear infrastructure
From WND ~ via Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin ~ Published Feb 14, 2012

WASHINGTON – Israel has dispatched a number of naval vessels – under cover – into the Arabian Sea, and they are moving into its northern regions, just off of Iran, a U.S. intelligence source has reported in Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin.

The Israeli vessels have been positioned at the mouth of the Gulf of Oman, which leads to the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has threatened to shut down that gateway to the Persian Gulf if further sanctions are imposed against its sale of oil and on its central bank.

Israel also has threatened a strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities out of concern that it is using them to develop nuclear weapons. Indeed, Iran just announced that it has achieved significant breakthroughs on a number of fronts in its nuclear enrichment program.

Such nuclear enrichment not only is needed to fuel Iran’s nuclear reactors but can be used for medical research and, if enriched to levels above 90 percent, can be used for nuclear weapons.

Israel assesses that Iran has enough low-grade-enriched uranium to make four nuclear weapons if the Islamic republic achieves technical breakthroughs in uranium enrichment beyond the 90-percent level.

New World Trade Center Site To Become Military Grade Police State Hub
From Prisonplanet.com ~ By Steve Watson ~ February 14, 2012

Terrorists supposedly attacked the World Trade Center towers on 9/11 because they hated the freedoms of Americans. Now their ilk will be satisfied to learn that anyone in the vicinity of the new World Trade Center will have absolutely no freedoms whatsoever.

According to plans seen by The New York Post, The Port Authority is to deploy military grade security, unrivalled by anything currently used in any city in the world.

The agency is set to roll out chilling technology akin to that described in The Minority Report that will subject Americans to pre-crime interrogations and physiological scans to detect malintent.

The PA plans to install and operate science-fiction-like devices such as infrared and heat sensors that can be outfitted with explosive and radiation detectors.

In what it claims are efforts to protect the new somewhat ironically named “Freedom Tower”, the PA plans also call for sophisticated surveillance cameras that have built in facial and retina scanners. The cameras will be able to scan everyone in the vicinity and run their biometric features against government criminal databases and terrorist watch lists.

In an election about the economy, the culture wars make a comeback
From FoxNews.com ~ By Doug McKelway ~ Published February 14, 2012

The immortal campaign words from the 1990s, "It's the economy, Stupid," were thought to apply to the campaign season of 2012, too. But recent circumstances have re-ignited the culture wars and help to explain the sudden and unlikely rise of Rick Santorum, a Republican social conservative who was all but written off.

Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator, has ridden into a statistical tie with Mitt Romney, according to three recent national polls. His ascendancy largely is the result of four key controversies that have risen with uncanny timing to ignite a fire among evangelicals, Catholics and social conservatives.

They include the decision by the Obama administration, now amended, to require institutions run by the Roman Catholic Church to provide contraception coverage to female workers; the ruling by a three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals that overturns California's law banning gay marriage; the Pentagon's decision to open about 14,000 combat-related positions to women, and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation's decision to withdraw, then restore, grant money to Planned Parenthood.

"This is (Santorum's) bread and butter," says Nathan Gonzales of the Rothenberg Political Report. "Rick Santorum couldn't have manufactured this scenario, where he is in a dead heat with Mitt Romney."

Obama wants steep nuclear arms cuts
From GOPUSA.com ~ By GOPUSA Staff ~ February 15, 2012 6:50 a.m.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Obama administration is weighing options for sharp new cuts to the U.S. nuclear force, including a reduction of up to 80 percent in the number of deployed weapons, The Associated Press has learned.

Even the most modest option now under consideration would be an historic and politically bold disarmament step in a presidential election year, although the plan is in line with President Barack Obama's 2009 pledge to pursue the elimination of nuclear weapons.

No final decision has been made, but the administration is considering at least three options for lower total numbers of deployed strategic nuclear weapons cutting to: 1,000 to 1,100; 700 to 800, and 300 to 400, according to a former government official and a congressional staffer. Both spoke on condition of anonymity in order to reveal internal administration deliberations.

The potential cuts would be from a current treaty limit of 1,550 deployed strategic warheads.

A level of 300 deployed strategic nuclear weapons would take the U.S. back to levels not seen since 1950 when the nation was ramping up production in an arms race with the Soviet Union. The U.S. numbers peaked at above 12,000 in the late 1980s and first dropped below 5,000 in 2003.

The Progressive era's legacy
Thomas Sowell explains connection between Presidents T.R., Wilson, Obama
From WND Commentary ~ By Thomas Sowell ~ Published Feb 13, 2012

THOMAS SOWELL
Although Barack Obama is the first black president of the United States, he is by no means unique, except for his complexion. He follows in the footsteps of other presidents with a similar vision, the vision at the heart of the Progressive movement that flourished a hundred years ago.

Many of the trends, problems and disasters of our time are a legacy of that era. We can only imagine how many future generations will be paying the price – and not just in money – for the bright ideas and clever rhetoric of our current administration.

The two giants of the Progressive era – Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson – clashed a century ago, in the three-way election of 1912. With the Republican vote split between William Howard Taft and Theodore Roosevelt’s newly created Progressive Party, Woodrow Wilson was elected president, so that the Democrats’ version of Progressivism became dominant for eight years.

What Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson had in common, and what attracts some of today’s Republicans and Democrats, respectively, who claim to be following in their footsteps, was a vision of an expanded role of the federal government in the economy and a reduced role for the Constitution of the United States.

Patton: Just a Taste of a Second Obama Term
From GOPUSA Commentary ~ By Doug Patton ~ February 14, 2012 1:57 p.m.

First, he came for the General Motors bondholders, but the religious leaders were not GM bondholders, so they did not speak up. Then he came for the oil companies, but they were not oil company executives, and again they did not speak up. Next, he came for control of the nation’s health care system, and again they saw no threat — in fact, many of them supported his plan.

We were told we had to pass the plan to find out what was in it. Then he came for our freedom of religion, and we found out what was in it: pure, unadulterated tyranny.

In a stunning exercise of raw, unconstitutional power, Barack Obama now tells people of faith that their rights do not come from God, as guaranteed by the Declaration of Independence and the First Amendment to the Constitution, but rather from him. The right to practice one’s religion is now codified in the so-called Affordable Care Act of 2010, otherwise known as Obamacare.

Last week, Obama announced that religious organizations would be required to include birth control and abortifacient devices and medications in the health care plans they provide for their employees. When it became clear that America’s Christian leaders would not stand for this, Obama is said to have “backed down.” In reality, he did no such thing.

A Tea Party Senate Takeover
Remember: Entrenched incumbency is the disease. Fresh blood is the cure.
From GOPUSA Commentary ~ By Michelle Malkin ~ February 15, 2012 6:50 a.m.

MICHELLE MALKIN
The tea party isn't dead. It's just looking down ballot. While fiscal conservatives remain split over the GOP presidential candidates, grassroots activists are coalescing around a stellar slate of limited-government candidates looking to reinforce and reenergize the right in Washington.

And in the spirit of the modern-day tea party movement, no entrenched incumbent -- Democrat or Republican -- is safe.

Utah was Ground Zero for the movement's first major electoral upset. In April 2009, this column first reported on a Salt Lake City tea party protest of 2,000 Utahans who repeatedly booed GOP Sens. Bob Bennett and Orrin Hatch for supporting the $700 billion TARP bank bailout. In May 2010, the three-term, 76-year-old Bennett got the boot at the GOP state convention. Young conservative lawyer Mike Lee, who clerked for Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, went on to win the seat.

The Global Warming Hoax is Now Killing People
From Tea Party Nation ~ By Alan Caruba ~ February 13, 2012 at 4:48pm

ALAN CARUBA
By Friday, February 10th, an estimated 500 Europeans had died from the freezing weather gripping the continent. This is the price they and British citizens are paying for embracing the global warming hoax, spending billions for wind power when they should have been building coal-fired and other sources of energy to heat their homes and businesses.

As the British daily, The Telegraph, reported on Friday, “Serbia has started implementing power cuts in a desperate bid to stave off the collapse of its national grid as the country suffers the effects of days of freezing temperatures.”

I and others have been warning for years that the Earth has been cooling since 1998 and that the planet is on the cusp of a new ice age because the average length of an interglacial period of warmth between such ages is now coming to an end after the passage of some 11,500 years.

All aspects of global warming legislation and spending programs must be utterly reversed if we are not going to see huge losses of life and the disruption of entire economies.

The Ottawa Citizen published an Agence France Presse article on Friday reporting that “Thick ice closed vast swaths of the Danube on Thursday, crippling shipping on Europe’s busiest waterway, as the death toll from bitter cold across the continent rose…as it has every day for nearly two weeks.” The report noted that “Navigation was impossible or restricted in Serbia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Austria, as ice covered the river or formed dangerous floes in shipping lanes.”

No shipping means no delivery of coal and oil and no shipping of food and other necessities. Europe is freezing over as the United States has been experiencing an unusually mild winter thus far. That, too, is likely to yield to the increased cooling of the planet and then, maybe, Americans will realize the threat to their lives that the closing of coal-fired plants, instigated by the Environmental Protection Agency, really means.

Drop the negativity
From The Daily Motivator ~ By Ralph Marston ~ Wednesday, February 15, 2012

RALPH MARSTON
Negativity is a waste of your precious time. You deserve much better, so give the very best of life to yourself.

When you catch the slightest bit of negativity creeping into your thoughts, visualize yourself taking hold of it and then simply letting it drop to the ground. Feel the spark of energy that comes from your newly gained freedom, and step positively forward.

Worries are worthless, so don’t bother with them. Resentment over a difficult situation actually makes that situation worse, so remind yourself there’s no point in it.

No man is an island ~ By Patrice Lewis

Ever since I first heard of any kind of environmental hysteria, which was during the Jimmy Carter years, I had my suspicions. For the last four decades of my life, I kept hearing that our dependency on foreign oil was detrimental to our national security. But yet, the same people that told us to cut back our thermostats to 60 degrees are the ones that are keeping us from drilling for our own oil. What is wrong with that picture? Do I really have to explain? It is such a contradiction of policy and public indoctrination, that how can you take environmental hysteria seriously?

And then, there is the way that our freedom keeps eroding. Erosion is a process, right? Over time, the Grand Canyon was created. Over a much shorter time, our beaches erode, and the process is accelerated with hurricanes. Well, folks, the hurricane is coming. I'm speaking of our liberty being eroded down to the bare bone before our eyes, and it will come from the far left environmental extremists.

In my humble opinion, I believe that the truth about environmental activism is that it's just a cover to justify limitations on our freedoms. I am sure that you are aware that our kids are terrified every day with the constant images of world-wide environmental catastrophes. Now that the public indoctrination centers have hooked the children, the next phase is to turn religion green:

Video provided by TheREALjohnny2k

I can only conclude that the Left is whittling away at our liberty. And to think, environmental hysteria is just one of the weapons of choice for the Progressives. But in this case, they have a united global front going for them, through the United Nations. Keep in mind, to paraphrase something that Ronald Reagan told us, "if America goes, you will have no where left to go for freedom." Not even a remote island. Just sayin'...

My first thought upon reading about this exercise is that the Norfolk Islanders are forfeiting their freedom for environmental slavery. It is about to become a penal colony to progressivism, an experiment in green shackles that the fascist overlords hope will spread. Today, the island. Tomorrow, the world!

The old saying "No man is an island" is certainly being underscored. As the inhabitants of Norfolk Island are about to discover, even the freedom to be left alone in the middle of nowhere is coming to an end.

There are two types of "green" people.

The first type live green because it's cheaper than the alternative. If they can't afford gasoline or a car, they bicycle. If they can't afford to buy food, they grow their own. If they can't afford the cost of bringing electricity to their home, they live without or go off-grid.

The second type live green ostensibly because they're concerned about the environment. Specifically, they believe humans are causing global warming and that people must scale back their lifestyles and resource consumption to live more sustainably on Mother Earth.

The biggest difference between the first and the second type of "greenies" is the first type has no interest in forcing you to live the way they do. They are simply doing what's best for their bottom line.

The second type would love nothing more than to compel you to live according to their beliefs. With nothing short of religious fervor, they try to convert you through a biased media and public-education indoctrination; and if that fails, they will force you to comply through government-backed regulations.

In short, we could describe the first group as frugal and the second group as thugs.

Keep this in mind as I introduce you to Norfolk Island, a tiny dot (population 1,800) in the middle of the vast ocean between Australia and New Zealand. Once upon a time it was a cruel place, part of Australia's penal colony system, but today it is a beautiful little jewel in the middle of the water.

I found it one evening by trolling Google Earth for isolated islands after my husband and I joked about moving when conditions in the U.S. became too socialistic. When I mentioned it in a column last year, I received a charming e-mail from a woman named Coral who invited me to visit. (Coral, if you're reading this, my e-mails back to you have always bounced. Please try contacting me again.) The impression I received is that Norfolk Island is a place I'd love to see.

But no more. Poor little Norfolk Island, it seems, is about to undergo an experiment in the name of fascism … (cough) sorry, I mean environmental activism.

The "warmies" (as the Australian environmentalists are called), with the enthusiastic participation of the Australian government, have concocted a scheme whereby the Norfolk Islanders will be issued a "carbon credit card" pre-loaded with a set amount of carbon credits to use over the course of a year. Every time the islanders buy gasoline, purchase some "fatty" imported food, or fly to the mainland to visit relatives, they get dinged. At the end of the year, those with leftover credits can sell them or cash them in, while those who used up their carbon credits early must buy more.

During the second year of the experiment, the number of carbon credits will be decreased. Ditto during the third and final year of this experiment. The goal, allegedly, is to make the islanders "trim, taut and terrifically moral." But of course, you and I know the real goal: to compel the islanders to live like good little global citizens according to the stringent and merciless criteria of the "warmies."

Reporters writing on this experiment were careful to select only cheerfully compliant people to interview about their thoughts. Garry Egger, professor of lifestyle medicine at Southern Cross University, is quick to point out his scheme will be voluntary and could provide islanders with cash for unused carbon credits. "We are not trying to impose ourselves on anybody out there," he said.

But in another article, Mr. Egger reveals his true agenda: "If (Norfolk residents) are in favour of it then it would justify scaling it up to a country level and ultimately to a world level."

Andrew Bolt, a columnist with the Herald Sun in Sydney, points out how this kind of social experiment was proposed in 2006 in Britain. The idea was endorsed and its proponents "insisted the Government defy howls of protest from mere voters." [Emphasis added.] Mr. Bolt also quotes members of Parliament as saying, "Widespread public acceptance, while desirable, should not be a pre-condition for a personal carbon trading scheme; the need to reduce emissions is simply too urgent." This was said, presumably with a straight face, before the members of Parliament were "driven off to dinner."

Australian Greens candidate Clive Hamilton believes "that climate change in the very near future will be 'so horrible that we [must] look to any possible scenario to head it off, including the canvassing of "emergency" responses such as the suspension of democratic processes.'" [Emphasis added.]

In other words, these enviro-fascists believe mythical global warming is so important that it makes for a wonderfully convenient excuse to "save the planet" through enslavement. The experiment with Norfolk Island demonstrates that environmentalists, at their core, are bullies. They want you to behave the way they dictate or else (ominous music in background).

Where the jobs are ~ By Henry Lamb

Commentary from WorldNetDaily

By Henry Lamb

Everyone agrees that we should reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

Everyone agrees that we need to increase American jobs.

Everyone, except perhaps the president and his minions in the majority, agrees that the government cannot afford to subsidize either of these goals.

Both of these goals can be achieved quite easily with no government subsidy: drill here; drill now!

Congress could open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in the twinkling of a Senate vote. This would pave the way to upwards of 10 billion barrels of new crude for America. Paving the road to this new inventory would provide employment for as many as 735,000 people – at no cost to the government.

Congress could open the oil-rich areas offshore, where as much as 85 billion barrels of oil is waiting for our use. Every new barrel produced provides new jobs for America – at no cost to the government.

Instead of choosing this perfectly logical course of action, the president and his minions in the majority chose to spend $159 billion to create 640,000 jobs. That's $248,000 per job, for a job that typically pays much less than $100,000 per year and in many cases will last only a few months. How dumb is that?

When a stupid program doesn't work as well as was projected, the only thing to do is to up the ante and do it again. That's why the president wants to spend another $100 billion doing what didn't work last time. How dumb is that?

This stupidity cannot be laid at the feet of this president alone. Democrats, and a few Republicans, in Congress have justified this wrongheadedness on the U.N.'s threat that the continued use of carbon fuels would sink the continents and fry the polar regions. Anyone who still believes this nonsense has refused to read the preponderance of evidence that is now available.

Global warming that may have occurred over the last century is well within the range of normal variability.

Give Al Gore his due ~ By Joseph Farah

Commentary from WorldNetDaily
Joseph Farah By Joseph Farah Posted: February 03, 2010 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2010 I never thought Al Gore was very bright, but you've got to give the guy his due. He's got the whole world trading carbon credits and measuring carbon footprints. He has turned the economic order of the world upside-down. He's whipped up more apocalyptic hysteria than the Mayan calendar. Al Gore did all that with his invention of manmade, catastrophic global warming. And, make no mistake about it, unlike his claim to birthing the Internet, Al Gore really did invent climate change out of nothing more than computer models, a fertile imagination and political necessity. People like Al Gore actually don't like America. They want to change it in fundamental ways to make it more to their liking and so that America serves their interests rather than the interests of the American people. Think back 20 years if you are old enough. Do you remember what people like Al Gore were pushing back then – before he invented "global warming"? For one thing, they were telling us we had to produce smaller cars and drive them. Before carbon dioxide was the menace that was going to destroy the planet, it was other auto emissions. Back then it was poisonous, toxic emissions that were the problem. And Al Gore used the coercive power of the state to force automakers to reduce those emissions. When no one could rationally argue that those emissions still posed a threat to the quality of life, a new argument to change lifestyles was needed. Leave it to Al Gore to come up with the notion that carbon dioxide and water vapor emissions now threatened to destroy the world. You see, it was never about cleaner air with Al Gore in the first place. It was never about health or the environment. It was always about attacking American industry, prosperity and the free-enterprise system. So he came up with a threat that could never be solved – a phony threat that could never even be measured. Aliens Cause Global Warming - A speech by Michael Crichton

Aliens Cause Global Warming - A speech by Michael Crichton

Because of copyright permission requirements, I can only give you one excerpt from this Michael Crichton speech. Please click on the link below to read the full speech. You may soon find yourself questioning the "consensus science" of anthropogenic global warming.
"I want to pause here and talk about this notion of consensus, and the rise of what has been called consensus science. I regard consensus science as an extremely pernicious development that ought to be stopped cold in its tracks. Historically, the claim of consensus has been the first refuge of scoundrels; it is a way to avoid debate by claiming that the matter is already settled. Whenever you hear the consensus of scientists agrees on something or other, reach for your wallet, because you're being had."

Fight U.N. censorship in Copenhagen ~ By Joseph Farah

Commentary from WorldNetDaily
Joseph Farah By Joseph Farah Posted: December 02, 2009 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 It's bad enough the United Nations is blessing the sham of man-made, catastrophic climate change in Copenhagen next week at a convention billed as a major step forward for global governance. But now we know the U.N. will try to have its cake and eat it, too, by denying press credentials to news agencies like WND that have reported skeptically on the "global warming" charade. WND, the largest independent English-language Internet news source in the world, applied for press credentials to the Copenhagen shindig weeks ago. WND was to be represented by senior staff writer Jerome Corsi, an expert on energy and politics and the author of two No. 1 New York Times best-selling works of nonfiction. With no word from Copenhagen, WND began shaking the tree of Axel Wuestenhagen, media coordinator for the event, even threatening legal action if the credentials were not immediately forthcoming. He sent apologies a week ago, blaming the delay on a backlog of requests. Then, on Monday, the other shoe dropped. Wuestenhagen wrote to WND's legal counsel explaining that WND would be excluded from covering the convention. He made the decision, he admitted, after consulting with U.N. officials in New York. "Having now reviewed the application and in consultation with the Media and Accreditation Unit in New York, regrettably, we are not in a position to grant accreditation in this instance," he wrote. "As a for-profit subsidiary of the nonprofit Western Journalism Center, we follow the U.N. guidelines on accreditation which specifies that advocacy publications of nongovernmental or nonprofit organizations do not qualify for media accreditation. Please note that the organization is under no obligation to accept your request if it does not meet U.N. standards and requirements for press accreditation." A nice try. It was the same bogus argument made years earlier when the Senate Press Gallery in Washington denied WND credentials to cover the Capitol – a decision later reversed when WND threatened to sue everybody involved for abridging First Amendment rights. Sane, scientific facts about global warming ~ By Pat Boone

Commentary from WorldNetDaily
Pat Boone By Pat Boone Posted: November 28, 2009 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 WorldNetDaily In just days from now, our president will be in Copenhagen with a large group of influential people from around the world, discussing what immediate and long-term measures must be taken to prevent our globe from frying like an egg on a hot sidewalk. That last part is an exaggeration, of course, but the attitude among most of the attendees seems too similar to the fairy tale about Chicken Little, who ran around the barnyard screaming "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!" Former Vice President Al Gore has spent some eight years roaming the world with a message just about as dire, and was handed a Nobel Prize for his efforts. Now Bloomberg reports that Mr. Gore has seen his net worth soar from $2 million when he left office to more than $100 million now. He stands to personally make billions if "cap and trade" passes, because of his stake in the newly created agency that will lay billions of penalties on entities that produce more carbon emissions than the agency deems allowable. If this happens, it will make America's fabled "robber barons" from another era look like neighborhood kids with a lemonade stand. What makes this James Bond or Michael Crichton story so fascinating is that a growing majority of the world's scientists are loudly proclaiming, "The sky is not falling!" The world is not frying in CO2! It’s actually cooling, and has been for some time! READ FULL STORY >

Which I think is where the term "Treehugger" comes from. "Huggin a tree when you get near it" was the original lyric which I replaced with "you should have chopped more trees instead of hugging them." Climate Fear Promoters Greatest Fear: 'The Truth' ~ By Marc Morano

From NewsWithViewsc.com
Marc Morano By Marc Morano August 27, 2009 'Series of inconvenient developments for promoters [of] global warming fears continues unabated' The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has shocked the global warming debate by its formal call to hold a public global warming trial to decide on the “evidence” that mankind is driving a climate catastrophe. The Chamber seeks to have a complete trial “complete with witnesses, cross-examinations and a judge who would rule, essentially, on whether humans are warming the planet to dangerous effect.” Some are referring to the potential for a global warming trial as the “U.S. Chamber of Commerce wanting to put AGW (anthropogenic global warming) creationism on trial.” Brenda Ekwurzel of the environmental group Union of Concerned Scientists, is discouraging the idea of a trial. This is the same Ekwurzel who claimed global warming made it “less cool” this summer. See: Climate Fear Promoters Try to Spin Record Cold and Snow: 'Global warming made it less cool' – July 27, 2009 More significantly, it is the same Ekwurzel who badly lost a public debate over man-made climate fears in 2007. See: Scientific Smackdown: Skeptics Voted The Clear Winners Against Global Warming Believers in Heated NYC Debate – March 16, 2007 & see: Climate Fear Promoters Avoid Debates and Lose When They Engage in Them No wonder the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has called for a full trial on global warming claims. Desperation time has arrived for the promoters of man-made global warming fears, as the science of man-made climate fears continues to collapse. In 2009, a series of inconvenient developments for the promoters of man-made global warming fears continues unabated. [CLICK HERE TO READ MORE]

The great 'global warming' hoax ~ By Roger Hedgecock

Commentary from WorldNetDaily
Roger Hedgecock By Roger Hedgecock Posted: November 23, 2009 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 While all eyes focus on the unfolding drama of the "health-care reform/health insurance reform/jobs bill," another critical part of the "Change America" plan just took a torpedo midship. Some 1,000 e-mails and 3,000 documents from the Climate Research Unit, or CRU, at the U.K.'s University of East Anglia (where the "world's leading climate scientists work") have been leaked. The blogosphere is on fire – cover up, falsified studies, intimidation of skeptics. It's all there. The Cap and Trade bill to lower our standard of living and subject our consumer choices to government diktat is based on the public agreeing that what we once called "progress" threatens the planet with destruction and we must stop it. It is a matter of accepted dogma among the collectivist lemmings of the Left that the Earth is warming because of our insatiable appetite for food, clothing and shelter – and cars, big screen TVs and a zillion gadgets run by electricity. The industries producing these things produce "greenhouse gas emissions," threatening mass starvation, drought and hurricanes – a slow motion "2012" that must be stopped by decreasing "greenhouse gas emissions." Cows will belch less if we stop eating them, that sort of thing. The collectivist Left in academia, media and politics got away with imprinting this dogma on the popular mind only because generations of government school graduates have been successfully stripped of knowledge of history, geology or climate science. There was a time when "science" was a rigorous search for truth that required an open skeptical mind, double-blind studies, multiple repeated experiments, peer-reviewed published data and a strong belief that if you are proven wrong, someone else got it right and the world will benefit. This approach was good enough for Pasteur, Newton and Ben Franklin, but not for today's crowd. Earlier generations knew that the Earth's climate was constantly changing, affected by numerous influences, some known (sunspots, Earth axis wobble, El Nino), some presumed still to be discovered. Historians knew that European history was influenced by periods of warming and cooling. The Vikings didn't call it "Greenland" because it was covered (as now) with ice. Geologists knew that, in geologic time, the Sahara Desert was a tropical rainforest, glaciers covered Chicago and numerous other wonders. While people could certainly affect the environment around them to their benefit by agriculture, animal husbandry and industry (this used to be thought of as an indication of intelligence), our grandfathers would have thought the idea that puny mankind could affect the climate of the whole planet absurd. Whatever change did occur in what was then called "the weather" would require mankind to adapt – a trait of our species that our ancestors celebrated. How times have changed.
