Former Obama Official: Climate Change Not 'Settled' Science ~ By Sandy Fitzgerald

In New York, tens of thousands participated in the demonstration demanding urgent steps against carbon emissions as the United Nation’s General Assembly opened.

"We often hear that there is a 'scientific consensus' about climate change," writes Koonin. "But as far as the computer models go, there isn't a useful consensus at the level of detail relevant to assessing human influences."

Koonin says his extensive training as a computational physicist with a 40-year career of scientific research and management, has given him an up-close knowledge of climate science.

"Detailed technical discussions during the past year with leading climate scientists have given me an even better sense of what we know, and don't know, about climate," writes Koonin.

Dr. Steven Koonin is not calling climate change a myth, but yet, he's not ready to say that mankind is totally responsible for climate change, nor that global warming is going to be catastrophic any time in our future. At any rate, what he is harping on in this column has much more to do about calling climate change a "settled science." He is very much right about that. There would never be any great new discoveries if everybody accepted everything we know on this planet as "settled science." When you read this column, please keep what he says in mind, especially the words in the following block quote:
"Uncertainty is a prime mover and motivator of science and must be faced head-on. It should not be confined to hushed sidebar conversations at academic conferences...

"Any serious discussion of the changing climate must begin by acknowledging not only the scientific certainties but also the uncertainties, especially in projecting the future."
How society has somehow accepted "settled science" as a description of ANY type of scientific information to be an intellectual concept is beyond me.  I can not regard any scientist, or university professor, or researcher, or President of the United States, that believes in a settled science with absolute certainty as being credible.  Dr. Koonin has it exactly right when saying that the future can not be accurately projected because of the uncertainty of  many variables, so how did so many people, who are supposedly smart, fall into this trap?  What is in it for them? And for that matter, what's in it for us, other than drastically increasing energy costs? All to quell our fears of a catastrophic climate change event that may not ever happen, would we be willing to give up our freedom and sovereignty? Just sayin'...

Former Obama Official: Climate Change Not 'Settled' Science
By Sandy Fitzgerald

From NewsMax.com Newsfront

A former high-ranking Obama administration official says climate science and the implications of global warming are not "settled," insisting such claims are "misguided" and stifle debate on the matter.

Writing a Page One story in the Wall Street Journal Weekend Review section, Dr. Steven Koonin argues that group think among experts has been inhibiting "the scientific and policy discussions that we need to have about our climate future."

Koonin, who served at the Energy Department as President Obama’s undersecretary for science in the Energy Department, is director of the Center for Urban Science and Progress at New York University.

Koonin’s position strikes a blow against climate change activists as People’s Climate March organized demonstrations at more than 2,000 locations worldwide.

VIDEO: The UN IPCC Climate Change Report Debunked?

When I wrote the description for the video, it was written with sarcasm in mind. The choice for me has never been to believe the so-called man-made climate change scientists, especially for the fact that the United Nations is behind it with their Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).  Their credibility was destroyed with Climategate, relating to the falsification of research data by the East Anglia Climate Research Unit.

When it comes to catastrophic damage to Earth because of climate change (man-made or not), I'm not just skeptical;  I would be more likely to believe that Godzilla is going to come out of the Pacific Ocean near Fukishima, Japan before you are done watching the video below.  This segment only reinforces my climate change denial. Just sayin'...

No, we can't just get along ~ By Barbara Simpson

Commentary from WorldNetDaily
Barbara Simpson By Barbara Simpson Posted: February 01, 2010 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2010 What on Earth was that last Wednesday night? Who was that man on the podium? Was it the president of the United States or "Big Daddy" who's mightily ticked with his family and pretty much everyone else? You had the eyes of world media glued to Washington. You had senators, congressmen, Supreme Court justices, top military, staffers, guests and friends – all in one room to hear one person speak to them and to American citizens. In fact, the citizens are the real audience of this event. They elected the president, and it's the time when he's supposed to bring everyone up to date on the administration's progress. Technically, it was the State of the Union address by the president. It's a constitutionally required task for the person in the Oval Office, and there's no doubt it's a big deal! For any president, it's a time in the spotlight when his performance is there for all to see. The idea is that the audience is supposed to hear from the man what was done, why, how it worked, where we are now and what's in store for the next year. It's the mother of all progress reports, and under normal circumstances that's what we'd get. Not this time! These are not normal circumstances. This time what we got was different. Actually, it was more than different, partially because this country faces enormous crises but also because of the person who is president. Regardless of what was said, how long it took to say it, whether it was controversial, accurate or even true, this time it was not so much a speech. It was a lecture by an irritated and angry "Big Daddy." It's clear that Barack Obama was – and probably, still is – mightily ticked with what's happened to his grand plans for transforming the United States. He was elected to the strains of "God Save the King," and he believed every word of it. He was lauded as the one who could do no wrong, could do anything and everything, and would change things for the better for everyone. He was short on details, but his overarching plans sounded just great. People were so enamored with his "blackness" that they neglected to hold his plans to a real test during the campaign. The attitude seemed to be, if Barack said it, it was OK because he could do no wrong. READ FULL STORY >

U.N. won't reveal who was accredited at Copenhagen

From WorldNetDaily
'We can only provide the number [of journalists] in attendance' By Stewart Stogel Posted: December 19, 2009 ~ 12:45 am Eastern © 2009 WorldNetDaily UNITED NATIONS – As the U.N. Climate Summit closed in Copenhagen amidst confusion and political controversy, just how press access was administered continues to be a source of debate, both in Denmark and at headquarters in New York City. WND, whose credential request to cover the Copenhagen summit was erroneously rejected by U.N. officials, repeatedly requested a list of who received accreditation and who was rejected. After waiting almost a week, the U.N. provided only the number of journalists in attendance but no more. "It is not U.N. policy to release names of organizations, nor those (applications) that were rejected," said Isabelle Broyer, director of the U.N.'s Media Accreditation and Liaison Unit in New York. Broyer said 3,839 journalists covered the Copenhagen summit. Even diplomats at the U.N. expressed disappointment on how the world body fumbled the ball in Denmark. "The Danish authorities did not properly prepare. ... I am hearing from friends (in Copenhagen) about price gouging, especially at the hotels. It is incredible. Many had to stay outside Copenhagen, it was so expensive," said a senior diplomat who requested confidentiality. The New York Times reported that on numerous occasions, accredited diplomats were turned away at the summit's conference hall inside the Bella Center because of police attempts at riot control. WND founder Joseph Farah has expressed his concern over the U.N.'s actions and intends to address them in person in the near future. READ FULL STORY >

Copenhagen all about 'American money'

From WorldNetDaily
Former congressman: Obama still could make many happy By Bob Unruh Posted: December 19, 2009 ~ 12:50 am Eastern © 2009 WorldNetDaily A former Texas congressman whose work included efforts to clamp down on America's borders, free up gun purchases and protect human life contends the massive conference in Copenhagen had little to do with global warming and everything to do with doling out American money. Steve Stockman, who was in the Danish capital for the two-week event, told WND in an interview from the conference, "We're over here trying to dissuade any kind of agreement that would give away American sovereignty, which is what it's all about." He said members of the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow boarded a Greenpeace ship in the harbor to unfurl a banner announcing it was a "Ship of lies." He also addressed events sponsored by CFACT at the Copenhagen summit. He told WND conference participants appeared to have one issue on their agenda: obtaining promises of American money for themselves. "It was about transferring the wealth of taxpayers," he said, noting Obama doesn't actually need any sort of international "treaty" to do that. He cited the $250 million the World Bank, of which the U.S. is a major supporter, agreed to grant North Vietnam to cut carbon dioxide. "I didn't know Vietnam had the ability to generate much carbon dioxide," he told WND. But he noted from his perspective the conference's disintegration appeared to stem from the fact "America hasn't ponied up enough money." "This has nothing to do with science," he said. "We've talked to [protesters.] They don't know anything about climate change." READ FULL STORY >

When Reds go green ~ By Jerome Corsi

Commentary from WorldNetDaily
Jerome Corsi By Jerome Corsi Posted: December 18, 2009 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 Divisions between the advanced countries and the Third World developing countries at the Copenhagen Climate Summit are revealing an underlying agenda to redistribute wealth globally that gives impetus for the United Nations goal to impose a cap-and-trade tax on the United States and Europe, for the benefit of China, India and the rest of the developed world. "Save the planet, scrap capitalism," a protester in Copenhagen at a socialist and communist protest, highlighted by red communist flags displaying the hammer and sickle of the former Soviet Union, told a reporter from the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow, or CFACT. (See video at the bottom of this column) The U.N. Climate Summit in Copenhagen this week increasingly appeared to be on the verge of collapsing as the United States engaged in increasingly bitter exchanges with China and India, while the African Nations walked out. The crux of the issue is that the developing world, led by China and India, want the developed world, led by the United States and Europe, to pay to developing nations hundreds of billions of dollars in what amount to reparations for emitting carbon. Meanwhile, China has overtaken the United States as the world's largest producer of carbon dioxide, while China's foreign-exchange reserves grew to $2.27 trillion at the end of September, a dramatic 700 percent increase in the last five years, largely as a result of the U.S. large and growing negative balance of trade with China. To fully comprehend the extent of disregard China, in its push to produce cheap goods, has for the environment, view a series of shocking photographs of Chinese pollution taken by Lu Guang from the People's Republic of China, the winner of the 2009 W. Eugene Smith Grant in Humanistic Photography for his documentary project "Pollution in China." Basically, the United Nations and leftist-oriented climate alarmists want to produce a two-tier global carbon-tax system in which manufacturing will be punished for remaining in the United States and the European Union and rewarded for relocating to an emerging economy such as China or India. War on 2 fronts! U.N. and Muslim Mafia

From WorldNetDaily
WND battles double-barreled threats to American sovereignty Posted: December 09, 2009 ~ 11:11 pm Eastern © 2009 WorldNetDaily Two of the biggest threats to America – the unprecedented global power grab currently under way in Copenhagen under the pretext of "global warming," and the ongoing infiltration and subversion of American government by dangerous Islamist radicals – are the focus of major legal challenges by WorldNetDaily. "The outcome of these two legal battles will affect the lives of every one of our readers," said WND's CEO Joseph Farah. "For that reason, we are urging our loyal readers to jump into the fight by helping us right now." (The following excerpts are from the two battles written about in this column:) Battle No. 1: Muslim Mafia The first fight is against the notorious, terror-tied Council on American-Islamic Relations. It's having fits over WND Books' audacious best seller "Muslim Mafia," which used 12,000 pages of internal documents to shred CAIR's mild-mannered, moderate, mainstream façade and to expose its treacherous Islamist agenda for all to see. (Congressmen right now are calling for multiple federal investigations of the organization, their demands instigated by the release of "Muslim Mafia" whose foreword was written by Rep. Sue Myrick, founder of the Congressional Anti-Terror Caucus.) In other words, CAIR is in serious trouble – and that's very good news for America. After all, CAIR is known by the U.S. government to be a Saudi-funded, terrorist-front group, whose terror connections caused the FBI earlier this year to cut off ties with the organization. The Justice Department has likewise branded CAIR an "unindicted co-conspirator" in the largest terror-funding trial in U.S. history for funding terrorist groups like Hamas. ... Battle No. 2: United Nations The other fight is WND's pending legal challenge to the United Nations. The U.N. is the prime mover behind the controversial – many Americans now say fraudulent and scandalous – "climate change" mega-conference in Copenhagen meant to rapidly advance global governance and bring about a massive transfer of Americans' hard-earned money to foreign nations. To make sure the global power grab goes forward with minimum static, the U.N. is also taking a page out of the Obama White House playbook in claiming one major news organization is "illegitimate" – and therefore denying it press credentials to cover the Copenhagen event and inform its vast readership of what transpires behind closed doors there. WND, the largest independent English-language Internet news source in the world, applied for press credentials to the Copenhagen event weeks ago, to be represented by senior staff writer Jerome Corsi, an expert on energy and politics and the author of two No. 1 New York Times nonfiction best sellers. He was flat-out denied. ... READ FULL STORY>>

Call it Carbonhagen ~ By Joseph Farah

Commentary from WorldNetDaily
Joseph Farah By Joseph Farah Posted: December 10, 2009 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 Sometimes it's difficult to accuse liberals of hypocrisy because they don't believe in standards – or, at least, the standards are always changing. But not so with the climate alarmists like those meeting in Copenhagen this week. There they are – the elite of the world – making pronouncements about the way the rest of us have to live in the future: No big cars and trucks. No more power plants. No more refineries. It will be a future of windmills and solar panels as far as the eye can see. Somehow people will make their money trading carbon credits and in illusory "green jobs." In matters of man-made, catastrophic climate change, they have set the standards. But is that how they live? Not by the looks of what we see in Copenhagen – or is it Carbonhagen? The London Telegraph reports at least 1,200 limousines have been booked for the occasion – only five of them electric or hybrids vehicles. There aren't enough limos in all of Denmark to meet the demand. They are coming in from Germany and Sweden – driven hundreds of miles for the convenience of the international cartel of carbon cops. But that's not all. The airport is expecting the arrival of 140 additional private jets during the peak period of the global climate change convention. There's not enough room for them all to park in Copenhagen, so they will have to be flown to Sweden and then fly back for return flights. Nobody is walking. Nobody is riding a bicycle. Nobody is living the lifestyle they insist on compelling us to live. All told, the Telegraph reports, the 11-day convention will create a total of 41,000 tons of carbon dioxide – equal to the amount produced by a major city in the same time period. In other words, they're not going to allow their grave concerns for the planet affect their own comfort – not even for a few days, not even for show. READ FULL STORY>>

Confusion of the Copenhagen faithful ~ By Henry Lamb

Commentary from WorldNetDaily
Henry Lamb By Henry Lamb Posted: December 05, 2009 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 More than 14,000 people have pre-registered to attend the shindig in Copenhagen next week, none of whom are delegates. The facility, which accommodates only 15,000 people, will be overrun by special-interest groups, all clamoring for attention and a piece of the $94 billion pie that is divided annually among the global-warming congregation. The number of delegates that attend these meetings usually reaches 4,000, and the press adds another thousand or so. The conference is an economic boon to the host city, an opportunity to party for the attendees – and a potential disaster for everyone else in the world. The Copenhagen meeting is the 15th official meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Framework Convention on Climate Change. This is the annual "biggie"; delegates and special-interest groups meet four or more times each year, each meeting drawing 5,000 to 10,000 people. The U.N. actually pays a per diem to the majority of the delegates; expenses for most of the special-interest groups come from grants from various governments, or from major foundations. The U.N. works hard to see that a good time is had by all; they screen attendees tighter than the Secret Service screens state dinners at the White House. WorldNetDaily, for example, is not allowed to attend; they may report something that the U.N. does not want reported. The press that is allowed to attend may not film or record the meetings. They may not even carry their equipment into the area where the meetings are held without an official U.N. "minder" with them. Everyone is free to photograph and record in the public areas such as the restaurants and the exhibit area. READ FULL STORY >

U.N. stands on plan to shut down reporters

From WorldNetDaily
Controversial 'global warming' Copenhagen conference looms By Bob Unruh Posted: December 04, 2009 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 WorldNetDaily The media coordinator for the United Nations' global warming summit in Copenhagen said today he is standing on his decision not to allow a WND senior reporter to cover the event, which has been described as a key step in the founding of a one-world government. "Everything we had to say was said in the [e-mail] text," Axel Wuestenhagen, reached on his cell phone as he was preparing for the event, told WND. "I'm not commenting on the text. That was the agreement reached. … I think I'll have to stick to that." WND had requested permission for Jerome Corsi, a senior staff writer who previously has been accredited for coverage of the U.N. and is a two-time No. 1 New York Times best-selling author, to cover the event. Wuestenhagen initially said the request was delayed because of a flood of applications. He later confirmed to WND's legal counsel, Gary Kreep, that WND, "as a for-profit subsidiary of the nonprofit Western Journalism Center," did not qualify. "Having now reviewed the application and in consultation with the Media and Accreditation Unit in New York, regrettably, we are not in a position to grant accreditation in this instance," he wrote. "As a for-profit subsidiary of the nonprofit Western Journalism Center, we follow the U.N. guidelines on accreditation which specifies that advocacy publications of nongovernmental or nonprofit organizations do not qualify for media accreditation. Please note that the organization is under no obligation to accept your request if it does not meet U.N. standards and requirements for press accreditation." READ FULL STORY >

Fight U.N. censorship in Copenhagen ~ By Joseph Farah

Commentary from WorldNetDaily
Joseph Farah By Joseph Farah Posted: December 02, 2009 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 It's bad enough the United Nations is blessing the sham of man-made, catastrophic climate change in Copenhagen next week at a convention billed as a major step forward for global governance. But now we know the U.N. will try to have its cake and eat it, too, by denying press credentials to news agencies like WND that have reported skeptically on the "global warming" charade. WND, the largest independent English-language Internet news source in the world, applied for press credentials to the Copenhagen shindig weeks ago. WND was to be represented by senior staff writer Jerome Corsi, an expert on energy and politics and the author of two No. 1 New York Times best-selling works of nonfiction. With no word from Copenhagen, WND began shaking the tree of Axel Wuestenhagen, media coordinator for the event, even threatening legal action if the credentials were not immediately forthcoming. He sent apologies a week ago, blaming the delay on a backlog of requests. Then, on Monday, the other shoe dropped. Wuestenhagen wrote to WND's legal counsel explaining that WND would be excluded from covering the convention. He made the decision, he admitted, after consulting with U.N. officials in New York. Please note that the organization is under no obligation to accept your request if it does not meet U.N. standards and requirements for press accreditation." A nice try. It was the same bogus argument made years earlier when the Senate Press Gallery in Washington denied WND credentials to cover the Capitol – a decision later reversed when WND threatened to sue everybody involved for abridging First Amendment rights. Sane, scientific facts about global warming ~ By Pat Boone

Commentary from WorldNetDaily
Pat Boone By Pat Boone Posted: November 28, 2009 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 WorldNetDaily In just days from now, our president will be in Copenhagen with a large group of influential people from around the world, discussing what immediate and long-term measures must be taken to prevent our globe from frying like an egg on a hot sidewalk. That last part is an exaggeration, of course, but the attitude among most of the attendees seems too similar to the fairy tale about Chicken Little, who ran around the barnyard screaming "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!" Former Vice President Al Gore has spent some eight years roaming the world with a message just about as dire, and was handed a Nobel Prize for his efforts. Now Bloomberg reports that Mr. Gore has seen his net worth soar from $2 million when he left office to more than $100 million now. He stands to personally make billions if "cap and trade" passes, because of his stake in the newly created agency that will lay billions of penalties on entities that produce more carbon emissions than the agency deems allowable. If this happens, it will make America's fabled "robber barons" from another era look like neighborhood kids with a lemonade stand. What makes this James Bond or Michael Crichton story so fascinating is that a growing majority of the world's scientists are loudly proclaiming, "The sky is not falling!" The world is not frying in CO2! It’s actually cooling, and has been for some time! READ FULL STORY >

Obama's 1-world government ~ By Chuck Norris

From WorldNetDaily
Chuck Norris By Chuck Norris Posted: October 25, 2009 ~ 9:13 pm Eastern © 2009 Halloween just got scarier – much scarier. I'm not talking about a new Hollywood slasher film or a new line of grotesque costumes, but a possible political nightmare scenario in which the White House could be positioned to sell out U.S. sovereignty, shred the Constitution and leave you and yours to the whims of foreign powers. Flying deep under Washington's radar is an upcoming (December) global climate change conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, under the guise of the "United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change." Virtually nothing has been said about it from the White House. But then again, I'm sure they think, who could be against working together for climate change? It all sounds pretty politically benign, doesn't it? Not according to Lord Christopher Monckton, once science policy adviser to Lady Margaret Thatcher, who read the treaty and said the Copenhagen conference is a cover for the beginnings of a one-world government. Monckton spoke to the Minnesota Free Market Institute in St. Paul, Minn.:
I have read that treaty and what it says is this: that a world government is going to be created. The word "government" actually appears as the first of three purposes of the new entity. The second purpose is the transfer of wealth from the countries of the West to Third World countries, in satisfaction of what is called, coyly, "climate debt" – because we've been burning CO2 and they haven't. And we've been screwing up the climate and they haven't. And the third purpose of this new entity, this government, is enforcement. How many of you think the word "election," or "democracy" or "vote," or "ballot" occurs anywhere in the 200 pages of that treaty? Quite right, it doesn't appear once.
Monckton then warned, if Obama signs the treaty, he would be flushing U.S. sovereignty down the global toilet. He cautioned, "But, in the next few weeks, unless you stop it, your president will sign your freedom, your democracy and your prosperity away forever – and neither you nor any subsequent government you may elect would have any power whatsoever to take it back again." Monckton further pointed out that, even though ratification of our president's signature on that treaty would take a 67 supermajority (two-thirds) of the Senate, it could pass a simple majority as an amendment to the cap-and-trade bill. Politifact.com (as well as many Left-leaning blogs) quickly criticized Monckton's conclusions as conspiratorial and climate-skepticism rhetoric, based upon the notion that the treaty is a draft and not a finalized document. But the apologetic of Politifact.com leaves the impression that the current draft is the roughest of cuts, when in reality it is the result of seven sessions of deliberations and revisions from several subgroups, including representatives from developed and developing countries ("parties"), "with a view to modifying it in the direction of consolidation and convergence."
