Pence reacts to Pelosi's 'new low' at the State of the Union ~ Fox News ~ Video

Vice President Mike Pence sits down with Fox & Friends on the day after the State of the Union that President Trump gave on February 4, 2020. The Vice President did an awesome interview, considering how well he drew the sharp contrast between the speech, and Speaker Pelosi's very absurd behavior.

This video is one for the memory archives. We will always remember Rush Limbaugh receiving the Medal of Freedom award, never before done during a State of the Union speech. And there were so many other wonderful things that we are reminded of in this interview.

And, we are reminded also of what Speaker Pelosi did, ripping up the speech at the end. My thoughts about that: Pathetic. Nice try, Nancy, you just lost the 2020 election for the Demonicrat Party.

Toward the end of the interview, let me quote what V.P Pence says about the everyday citizens that he meets: "I am still convinced there's more that unites us than will ever divide us. I meet people every day... and I always try to thank people and encourage them to pray for the country..."

Okay, because I was trying to quote from the closed caption, and it wasn't working out very well, you might as well watch this video, right?

RINOS' last stand in California ~ By Roger Hedgecock

Though I am familiar with California politics, being here in the land of Bibles and guns of the great Midwest, I know many of the readers of this blog live in California. So, I am posting this great Roger Hedgecock column for those of you in the Golden State, and any other state that may be stuck with nothing but RINOs for candidates.

If I was voting in California, though, I would be very worried, especially with the front-runner Meg Whitman, who happens to be influenced by former Obama jobs czar and Communist, Van Jones. That would be enough for me to pull the lever for a different RINO running for the Republicrat nomination for governor. Just sayin'...

But as California becomes the "Greece" of the U.S. with the state caught between the rock of a strangled economy and the hard place of implacable public sector unions who won't give up a penny in wages or benefits, does Poizner have the proposals which recognize the problem and offer solutions?

Not really. Much like the recent faux campaign in the U.K. in which all three parties refused to tell British voters that Margaret Thatcher was right when she said socialism would fail when it ran out of other peoples' money, the campaign for governor of California is some kind of opera where all the candidates avoid mentioning the coming calamity of certain state government insolvency.

Unlike the straight talk and decisive actions of real Reagan conservatives like New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, the California governor's race is a masquerade of RINOS.

The prairie fire of a political movement known as the Taxed Enough Already party has changed the politics in nearly every state this year.

I say "nearly" because the last stand for RINOS, for what we called "country club Republicans" in the Goldwater days, for the "we're not conservatives," "Democrat lite" Republicans – is here in California.

The major candidates for governor (Arnold is at long last term limited out) are former eBay CEO Meg Whitman and state insurance commissioner Steve Poizner. Neither candidate is generating grass-roots, tea-party enthusiasm.

Whitman has a compelling success story in creating jobs in private business. Her political story is less stellar. She didn't bother to vote until recently.

As a candidate, she rules out across-the-board tax cuts in a state with some of the highest tax rates in the country – a state that is now experiencing (as Art Laffer would predict) falling tax revenues.

Whitman's reaction to the Arizona immigration law was a vow to veto any such legislation if elected governor. She has supported "comprehensive" immigration reform – code for illegal-alien amnesty.

Whitman backed the federal TARP bailout bill. As a member of Goldman Sachs' board of directors in 2001 and 2002, she benefited from financial investments now banned.

She professes an admiration ("I got to know him very well") for Van Jones after she met him on an Arctic cruise dedicated to showing the passengers the ravages of "global warming." Apparently, as a result of Mr. Jones' influence, Whitman will not support repeal of California's job-killing state "cap and trade" law.

Whitman's appeal for votes (her $59 million donation to herself has drenched the state in TV and radio ads) in the California Republican primary June 8 comes down to two themes: "I know how to create jobs" and "The other candidate is no conservative, either."

Whitman, by every account I've seen, was a superb private business executive. Her collaborative work practices applied during a tech boom inspired creative non-union employees to create wealth for more people over a shorter period of time than has rarely been seen in history. None of this experience will translate to success running California state government.

What next? Lock and load? ~ By Barbara Simpson

What would local newspapers do if it became known that a convicted prisoner was released early from jail and just hours later was arrested again, this time for attempted rape?

What would they do if the release was the result of a new state law allowing such criminals be released early because the state is strapped for money and this would supposedly help balance the budget?

What if the release was only for "non-violent" prisoners, but officials ignored that a prior sentence involved violence?

What if this occurred in the county of the state capital?

When would newspapers print the story? Where would they place it? How would they present it?

I would expect front-page coverage. But, silly me for thinking that when there's a shocking local, county or state news event, the major area newspapers would jump on the story and cover it.

No, not just "cover it" but put it on the front page – if not in the main headline, at least below the fold.

It would let citizens know that something important had happened that they need to know about.

It also lets them know that those running the papers have a sense of what news events deserve attention. Citizens need to know that news placement relates to the importance of the story.

First things first; front-page news, rather than being buried deep within the paper or perhaps not printed at all.

Silly me. I forgot. I live in California; it's different here. To make it worse, I work in Northern California in San Francisco, and that means, like it or not, things truly are different.

What I described happened last week in Sacramento County, barely a hundred miles from San Francisco.

The city of Sacramento is the state capital where the Legislature passed and the Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a bill last year that was part of a budget deficit deal. The idea was to save money by releasing some 6,500 prisoners by next year from an overcrowded system.

The intent was to give early release to "non-violent" prisoners who had exhibited good behavior and earned extra credit for participating in educational and other programs.

The law went into effect Jan. 25, but there are problems. Counties are interpreting the law differently in terms of just who is eligible and when. Is the law retroactive, or does it just apply to those sentenced as of the January date? How are the prisoners evaluated for release?

The law isn't specific, and with 58 counties involved, it appears there's widespread confusion and problems.

It's not helped by what happened last week.

Kevin Eugene Peterson was released from jail Monday evening, 16 days early, and by noon the next day was back in police custody accused of the attempted rape of a counselor. In fact, he's charged with attempted rape, sexual battery, false imprisonment and violating the terms of his probation.

Not bad for half a day of freedom for a supposedly "non-violent" offender.

Actually, Peterson was "non-violent" by a technicality. His current jailing was for probation violation, non-violent. What was ignored was that the original crime was assault with a deadly weapon; he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to one year in jail plus five years probation. He violated that last December and was returned to jail for four months. Apparently, officials just looked at the probation violation.

Pushing toward amnesty, Part 2 ~ By Barbara Simpson

Barbara SimpsonBy Barbara Simpson Posted: July 27, 2009 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 As Congress, under the control of far-Left politicians, continues to usurp more of the rights and freedoms of American citizens as well as planning the further confiscation of personal wealth of all Americans regardless of how "rich" they are, the fiscal future of this country will be perpetual, staggering debt. While states teeter toward bankruptcy, the feds spend like teenagers with access to Daddy's bank account. They spend everyone else's money with no end in sight. Joe Biden, our erstwhile vice president, in all his wisdom, declared to an AARP town hall meeting that "… the only way to avoid that (bankruptcy) is for the government to spend more money." If your head spins from the whirlwind of government proposals, spending plans and bureaucracy creation that is the hallmark of the Obama administration, never forget, he's not done yet. We got hit with TARP; bank, mortgage and insurance company bailouts; the takeover of car companies; salary setting for corporate executives; stimulus money spread like honey across the country without oversight; cap and trade, which will further devastate the economy and our energy needs; and currently, attention is on a government takeover of our entire medical system. Barack Obama wants the White House in charge of who gets what medical care, how much, when, where and by whom. Individuals, doctors and nurses will be cut out of decision making; the bureaucracy and bureaucrats will take over. It appears the only "choice" left in medicine will be for abortion; bureaucratic, government "deciders" will make all other decisions. While the man who is president promises "freedom of choice for efficient medical care at lower costs," the Congressional Budget Office says the whole thing is fiscally disastrous – $1.04 trillion in new expanses. But watch out! Next up is "comprehensive immigration reform." A better name is "amnesty" for illegal aliens. Illegals in this country will be made full citizens. Obama wants it done by December. There's no cost estimate. Imagine! Break the law, and the prize is citizenship! Such a deal! Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., says he want to bring "the 11 million people out of the shadows. …" He's got the numbers wrong. More accurately, the figure is between 20 to 30 million. That's a lot of lawbreakers. Imagine the costs that will hit local and state governments, to say nothing of Washington. Despite denials, the current Democrat medical plan would cover those millions of illegals. In an effort to prevent that, Rep. Dean Heller, R-Nev., introduced a GOP-supported amendment to prevent subsidized health care for illegals. The House Ways and Means Committee voted it down (26-15) on straight party lines. But let's get practical. The last time Congress tried for amnesty, in 2007, unemployment was only 4.6 percent and Americans said no! Unemployment now is over 10 percent and climbing; 14 million-plus Americans are out of work. Amnesty would put them in job competition with illegals who are now in this country, working below scale, mostly not paying taxes and being a massive drain on resources. For example, the Los Angeles Times reported that illegals comprise 7 percent (more than 2.7 million) of California's population. Officials estimate that adds $4 to 6 billion in costs "primarily for prisons and jails, schools and emergency rooms." Calculations show illegals in schools cost the state $2.3 billion annually. The natives are restless ~ By Barbara Simpson

It appears California is about to go on the block, and residents aren't quite certain how much is hype and how much is real. There's growing anger about what's going on, and a taxpayer revolt may be brewing. It's amazing what fiscal panic looks like when the effects of the derelict actions hit the financial fan and spread political fear. read more | digg story

California Due to Release Convicted Domestic Terrorist

Sunday, March 15, 2009 - AP

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A saga that began in the violent cauldron of California's 1970s radical counterculture and took a dramatic turn into a quiet middle-class neighborhood in Minnesota is about to come to an end. Sara Jane Olson, who was a fugitive for a quarter-century after attempting to kill Los Angeles police officers and participating in a deadly bank robbery near Sacramento as a member of the Symbionese Liberation Army, is scheduled to be released from a California prison next week. Her bid for freedom after serving seven years is not ending quietly. Police leagues in Los Angeles and Minnesota are objecting to the terms of her parole, her attorneys are nervous after Olson was mistakenly released and sent back to prison a year ago, and people in her home state have conflicting views about the return of a woman with two identities — a quiet, caring community volunteer and a domestic terrorist. Concealed Carry Permits Go ‘Poof!’ in California

In California, Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens unveiled a new policy that could cause “dozens, if not hundreds,” of concealed carry permit holders to lose permits issued by the previous sheriff. Did these law-abiding Orange County citizens do anything illegal, immoral, or unethical to cost them their permits? read more | digg story, submitted to digg.com by rhunlimited
