New Year's resolution? Look to God, not gov't ~ By Craig R. Smith

This year, when you make your New Year's resolution, look to yourself and to God for the strength to accomplish the change you desire. Don't look to Michelle and Barack or the House and the Senate. Look to God and the gift He put in each one of us to live in liberty.
Craig points out one of the major problems we have in this country. The liberals/progressives have slowly eroded away our liberty over the last century with well-intentioned, but unneeded government solutions. They refuse to allow Americans to take personal responsibility and look to God and their churches for answers and many of their needs.

This is the time of the year when everyone makes promises that will be broken by the end of January. Stop smoking, eat less, work out and all the other good, yet meaningless, intentions will fall by the wayside.

People want quick and easy solutions for difficult problems.

We even hear these promises from the White House. Our first lady is proffering a solution for childhood obesity. All we need is the government to mandate fresh fruits and vegetables in place of Cheetos and Pepsi, and the pounds will just fall off overnight.

Of course, Michelle will not suggest that parents get involved and tell their children to put down the video game, shut off the TV, go outside and play or put on ice skates and spend the afternoon with friends skating and eating fat-free soft pretzels, like I did as a kid.

No, that would require parents shutting off their iPhone or Blackberry, actually talking to their children, ignoring the "connected world" and connecting with their kids. We have become so distracted with being in touch with all that is going on around us that many parents prefer to keep their kids entertained with electronics rather than encourage healthy behavior.

If Michelle and Barack really want to curtail childhood obesity, how about locking up all the child molesters who stalk our public parks and playgrounds looking for their next victim? Many parents are terrified to allow their children to ride their bikes or play outside for fear they will be abducted and found days later in a dumpster.

It is truly sad that our children cannot go out and play safely in our communities because the liberals want to show how compassionate they are toward the "misunderstood," deviant slime who would hurt a child. The liberal judges slap them on the wrist and send them back out to offend again, all in the name of fairness.

Wake up! Terrorists are running America ~ By Craig R. Smith

For all the columns that I may have posted in the last few days that may have given you any feeling of hopelessness, this one by Craig R. Smith should sooth your fears and anxiety about what our future holds for us. Craig hits it out of the park in this one. It is ultimately upbeat, and it is uniting. It is time to quit worrying about our specific differences, as that is the enemy's plan. The enemy would not want us to be united on the general principles of working together on the common goal of fighting for our freedom. We haven't yet lost it totally, so while we can, let's keep the freedom movement going, together. Divided we will fall, but United we will stand! We will continue to be the land of the free and the home of the brave. Just sayin'...
We're an America built on hard work, honesty and personal responsibility and a nation that had and will have again the "can do" attitude. We're a country of people who neither need nor want the government to provide their every single need. We're a group of individuals who know if we all have a common goal and don't allow the politicians to divide us, stereotype us and put us into different categories, we can achieve whatever we set our minds to.

So in November when you go to the polls, join me in saying, "Out with the terrorists and in with the freedom, the Constitution and a government of the people, by the people and for the people." I refuse to allow anyone, especially a group of radical liberals, to take away the America of freedom and opportunity and replace it with cradle-to-grave socialist dogma.

Will anyone join me?

Terrorists come in all shapes and sizes nowadays and all races and religions. Some are tall, some are short, fat and thin. The one common thread, however, is their ability to employ fear to achieve their warped and perverted goals. Fear is a terrorist's stock-in-trade.

Let's face facts: Blowing one's self up is a rather messy proposition, and in doing so you may meet your objective but never get to enjoy the fruits of your labor. That is, unless you are an Islamic terrorist and believe those 72 virgins will show up.

Threat of death produces fear. However, it doesn't take a genius to bring it to pass. Life can be taken rather easily. Kingsley Amis said,
Death has this much to be said about it:
You don't have to get out of bed for it.
Wherever you happen to be they bring it to you.
The most effective terrorists are those who can terrorize without the messy process of explosions or the certain death that follows. Those terrorists can only intimidate with the threat of future death and destruction.

The terror the likes of Saddam Hussein and other dictators employed arrived in the form of the fear of something: fear of rape, torture or future loss of freedom. Going to jail removes freedom in a most pronounced way.

A burglar utilizes terror as he holds a gun to your chest while asking for your wallet. It is a very efficient way to separate you from your wallet – far more so than politely asking you to hand it over. The appearance of a gun instantly invokes terror. And the fear that follows is extremely convincing.

A spouse or a child ranting, raving and assuring he/she is going to make your life miserable will alter behavior incredibly fast when others in the home know if that person ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.

As absurd as you think it is, all are forms of terrorism. Some more severe, some far less but all nevertheless effective in providing for the terrorist that which they seek: fear! And fear can force people to make very irrational decisions to sustain life or maintain peace.

Therefore the terror of challenging a president turned dictator is the only explanation for the absolute silence coming from Congress and the Republicans when the Obama administration makes totalitarian and unconstitutional decisions.

Since when can a president travel overseas and enter into an arms reduction treaty without the consent of the Congress? How can he reduce our nuclear stockpile without one peep of opposition from either side of the aisle? Where are the voices of "loyal" opposition when Mr. Obama makes these unilateral decisions on behalf of all Americans without any prior announcement? What about the "patriotic dissent" Hillary shrieked about during the Bush years?

How can a president offer additional financial support to the Palestinians who elected terrorists to run their country and not be challenged by one senator or congressman? Or even a newspaper or mainstream media outlet?

How can a president fire the CEO of a publicly traded company or shut down an entire industry simply by calling for a moratorium and never be required to explain himself to the people? How can a president offer amnesty to illegals aliens by the fiat of an executive order, and in the process, neglect the will of 60 percent of Americans?

The only answer is fear. He is terrorizing the Congress, the media and now even the American people.

What else can explain an emotionless and non-effective Congress allowing this president to do whatever he wishes without one word of protest before a microphone or a fiery speech on the floor of the House? What happened to the days when passion-filled speeches rang in the halls of Congress if a democratically elected president acts more like a dictator than a man of the people?

Charlie's been a very bad boy ~ By Craig R. Smith

Craig R. Smith asks why Nancy Pelosi isn't telling Charlie Rangel that he should step down from his powerful position as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. As he discusses in this column, there are probably a few reasons why she doesn't. Be sure to see the related video below the column for further explanations...
Ethics and accountability are to Nancy Pelosi what holy water is to the devil. She can only pray that other Democrats demand Charlie's resignation for her, which I suspect will happen. In all of this, she will once again show the American people she is not a leader, but a loser.

In keeping with her commitment to the American people, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi should demand the resignation of Charlie Rangel, the powerful chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. Charlie has been a very bad boy.

Pelosi announced in 2006, after the victories returning Democrats to the majority, "The American people voted to restore integrity and honesty in Washington, D.C., and the Democrats intend to lead the most honest, most open and most ethical Congress in history."

Now Nancy has a chance to honor her word. Or will she weasel around and come up with several lame excuses as she has since taking her current position.

She has an opportunity here with Rangel to follow her own moral compass. Who can forget the vitriolic position Pelosi took against Tom Delay in 2004? DeLay was admonished by the ethics committee, and Pelosi let him have it with both barrels: "Mr. DeLay has proven himself to be ethically unfit to lead the party."

But that wasn't all. She went on to say, "The burden falls upon his fellow House Republicans. Republicans must answer: Do they want an ethically unfit person to be their leader, or do they want to remove the ethical cloud that hangs over the Capitol?"

Good question Madame Speaker! It's one you should ask yourself and fellow Democrats this weekend. The ethics committee is not yet done with Mr. Rangel. It is still conducting an ongoing investigation of his questionable activities. I suspect it will find more dirt on the embattled chairman. Why not spare him the pain and get him out now? What reasons could she find to keep him?

Quite a few.

March 3, 2010 - Charlie Rangel's Statement, and not to be rude, please, don't ask questions!

Charlie's statement reminds me of an episode from Columbo: "one more question, please" - and then Charlie Rangel buries himself, steeped in vast lying, and then he steps down from the House Ways and Committee.

And of course, it is just temporary while all he has done has been swept under the rug. While he makes a public statement, he tells the reporters to not ask questions. How hilarious is that? But the best part of the video is that the reporters, being rude, went ahead and asked questions! Columbo must have been in the audience! "Excuse me, just one more question..." Geithner must go ~ By Craig R. Smith

Commentary from WorldNetDaily
Craig R. Smith By Craig R. Smith Posted: January 29, 2010 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2010 This week a new era of bipartisan politics was ushered in during the congressional hearings addressing the AIG bailout. Treasury Sec. Timothy Geithner failed with both Democrats and Republicans to pass any reasonable stink test. In fact one of his own, Rep. Stephen F. Lynch (D-Mass.), said with an edge in his voice, "It just stinks to high heaven what happened here." I watched the hearings for several hours. Little belief was to be found among the members that Mr. Geithner or Paulson did anything other than panic during the potential meltdown that occurred in Sept. of 2008. Regardless of how many times Geithner demanded Congress acknowledge his brilliance in saving the world, nobody was buying it. Good grief! So much for voters telling Obama to slow down and move toward the center. The lack of fully answered questions and the abundance of arrogant, angry and condescending behavior from Geithner was appalling. He acted as if the U.S. Congress had no right to ask him such questions. How dare they challenge his genius in getting us past the "worst crisis since the Great Depression." He basically said, I saved your ass and this is how you treat me? In the many hearings I have watched over the last 30 years I have never witnessed this level of slithering, spinning and tortured answering in an attempt to avoid the truth. Mr. Paulson was somewhat humble, at least in comparison. And while his unsupportable assertions, such as unemployment going to 25 percent if they had not acted, were laughable, at least they weren't offered with the snotty Ivy league arrogance spewed from Geithner. I would be shocked if Tim Geithner is able to maintain the confidence of President Obama after his performance this week. On the off chance he does, we need to really question the competence of the president. READ FULL STORY >

Get ready for 2010 election bloodbath ~ By Craig R. Smith

Commentary from WorldNetDaily
Excerpt:
"By 2012 America will have looked back at the election of 2008 and will wish Sarah Palin had been at the helm. She has more experience in leadership in her bra strap than Obama in his entire empty suit."
Craig R. Smith By Craig R. Smith Posted: January 04, 2010 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2010 I keep asking myself the same haunting question: How on earth did this community organizer ever become president of the greatest country in the world? Am I the only one who feels this way? Just one look at the last couple of weeks reveals the total incompetence of this president and his administration. Nobody is on the same page. Larry Summers say the economy is growing. Christina Romer says it is not. Janet Napolitano claims the TSA/Intel system worked flawlessly, then says it failed completely. Heck of a job, Nappy! What we need in the Oval Office is a leader, and we are getting everything but. Even his ardent supporters are turning against Mr. Obama. They are waking up to the sobering reality that they were duped. How can we have a terrorist act on an American airliner and it be 48 hours before we hear a word from the White House – and when the word comes it is through Napolitano and Robert Gibbs? It took our president 72 hours to make a brief statement before heading off to play a round of golf. It makes you appreciate George Bush taking eight minutes before leaving the classroom on Sept. 11. This may just be a perfect example of how "manmade disasters" are handled by this clueless administration. Terrorist acts are viewed like a robbery at your local minimart, or a simple criminal issue Eric Holder will address from his leftist Justice Department. Now the underwear bomber is lawyered up and not providing intel on the other 24 terrorists who trained with him to execute the same act. That is how the Obama administration rolls. What this terrorist should have gotten was a one-way ticket to Gitmo and an appointment for an H2O facial on a flat board until we learned where the others live and their future plans of attack. But no, this administration would never dream of such lifesaving measures. It is to focused on getting the world to love us. It wants to restore our "image" in the world – you know, the one of weakness Bill Clinton brought us by refusing to respond to the terrorist act on the USS Cole, and the one that cost 17 American sailors their lives. Terrorists are terrorists. We don't need to understand them, negotiate with them or appease them. We need to eliminate them. Until our fearless leader understands that, we are all in danger. But this president won't even call them terrorists. He won't even acknowledge an act of terrorism when it occurs. READ FULL STORY >

Party on, Barack! ~ By Craig R. Smith

Commentary from WorldNetDaily
Craig R. Smith By Craig R. Smith Posted: November 30, 2009 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 Is it just me, or is anyone else in America getting the sense there is no leader of our country at the moment? Seriously, I'm having a difficult time believing Mr. Obama is actually the president given he doesn't seem to be doing anything other than giving speeches and throwing parties. The American people once again have it right. Polls show the No. 1 focus of the administration should be jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs. And yet we see the White House focusing on everything but jobs. Health-care reform, climate change and second guessing hand-picked leaders in Afghanistan appear to have more of our president's attention than creating millions of jobs. Even Rick Warren on "Meet the Press" pointed out the president needs to direct energy to job creation, not health care. And yet a deaf ear sits in the Oval Office. But no one should be surprised. The entire Democratic Party is deaf to the demands of the people who elected them to lead. Apparently political victories are far more important to Mr. Obama, Pelosi and Reid than the wellbeing and will of the American people. Victories at any cost, regardless of the future damage they may impose. Democrats appear perfectly comfortable with extending unemployment benefits, thus perpetuating long-term dependence on the government. Having an electorate reliant on the politicians has been the dream of all Democrats for years, but a nightmare to anyone who loves and cherishes freedom, of course. It's a dream come true for believers in big government. When I heard Mary Landrieu from Louisiana had dubbed herself, "brave" for voting for a bill she knows is bad for America, I knew there was no leader in the White House. There is a dictator willing to allow a $300 million bribe to secure the success of legislation 72 percent of Americans believe will destroy, not improve, the best health-care system in the world. A 3-letter word – jobs! ~ By Craig R. Smith

From WorldNetDaily
By Craig R. Smith Posted: October 19, 2009 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 When America elects representatives and dispatches them to Washington, it does so with the belief those servants will focus on the issues affecting us all in our day-to-day lives. The group currently serving in the Capitol has failed grossly and is now just outright ignoring the people. The No. 1 priority of the people is the economy. It's ahead of the wars, health care, the budget deficit, terrorism, climate change, energy independence, etc., and by a huge margin. The data is overwhelming, regardless of what poll you read. Jobs and the economy are so far ahead of the other issues, one would think all we would see coming out of D.C. is legislation to get our economy back on track. Yet you see everything other than the economy capturing the attention of the president and Congress. Climate change and health care consume current leadership while one in 10 Americans are unemployed and as much as 7 percent more are underemployed. Why would our leaders not focus on the No. 1 priority of the people? There can only be two plausible explanations. First, they just don't care. Damn the people. They are in power, and they will do what they want. Or second, they are powerless to get the economy back on track and, as such, want to divert attention away from their weakness. What happened to "Yes we can"? But there may be a third, more sinister explanation. Current leadership appears very content with the prospect of making everyone in the country dependent upon government for their every need. [Emphasis my own] If I wanted to be a conspiracy theorist, I would say this is a master plan to make us all their modern-day slaves to work in the fields and factories for the benefit of the ruling class. But I have too much confidence in the spirit of America to believe the people would ever allow that to occur. [CLICK HERE TO READ MORE]

Exclusive: Craig R. Smith highlights modern-day feat as big as resurrecting Lazarus

From WorldNetDaily
Craig R. SmithBy Craig R. Smith Posted: October 12, 2009 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 I, for one, am delighted to hear that our 44th president received the coveted Nobel Peace Prize last week. It now places him in a unique fraternity of past recipients. This prize may prove very valuable to his legacy. Upon receiving the news, Mr. Obama stepped to his trusty microphone and teleprompter and said, "I was surprised and deeply humbled." The honor has caused something I see as a modern-day miracle – a feat as big as the parting of the Red Sea or bringing Lazarus out of the grave: It humbled our president. Now that he is "humbled," hopefully he can get over himself and get doing the business of the American people and not just those on the Democratic Left. Humility in leadership is a good thing. Now that millions of Americans have voted him in and the Nobel committee has awarded him, all he has left is to focus on unemployment, the economy, real health-care reform and defending the United States of America against all enemies foreign and domestic. "Let me be clear. I do not view it as recognition of my own accomplishments but rather as an affirmation of American leadership on behalf of aspirations held by people in all nations," he said. Sounds surprised to me, don't you think? As Lech Walesa said "So soon? Too early. He has no contribution so far." The prize, if awarded for his accomplishments, obviously was for ridding the world of Bill and Hillary Clinton, marginalizing candidate John McCain and preying on the anger of a nation toward George Bush. Those are all worthy accomplishments, don't you think? He used the race issue to neutralize the most powerful political dynasty in modern American politics. That is not worthy of a prize? It sure is! Uhm, uhm, uhm, Barack Hussein Obama ... ~ By Craig R. Smith

From WorldNetDaily
Craig R. SmithBy Craig R. Smith Posted: September 28, 2009 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 Last week the dedicated men and women of the FBI and local law enforcement displayed extraordinary skill and professionalism in thwarting several plots hatched right here in America by terrorists determined to destroy us. We all owe a tremendous amount of gratitude for the ongoing daily efforts to protect us from the ever-present threat of radical Islamists. Wiretaps of overseas communications and constant surveillance of suspected bad guys are providing safety I believe many in America take for granted. But I have a message for the yet-to-be-caught terrorists still in America: If you really want to hurt our nation, drop your plans of any future attacks. The party of big government led by Mr. Obama is doing a fine job of destroying our country as we know it. He and his party have us more torn apart than ever before. Another attack would only bring us together – just as it did on Sept. 12, 2001. We would stand shoulder-to-shoulder in solidarity against you, so you would be fools to attack us again. The Left is doing the work for you. With legislation ranging from expensive cap and trade based on flimsy science to the government takeover of health care , Americans are now viewing their government as a true threat to our personal liberty and freedom, both of which are the very foundation of America's greatness. I can't imagine going to jail for not having health insurance , but the Democratic Party sure can. I can't imagine paying more for energy just because Al Gore and his pals want to make billions on naiveté. George Soros and Keith Olbermann sure can. [CLICK HERE TO READ MORE]

A country worth fighting for! ~ By Craig R. Smith

From WorldNetDaily
Craig R. SmithBy Craig R. Smith Posted: September 14, 2009 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 The time has come for me to publicly thank Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Obama for doing something in America that hasn't been done since the Revolutionary War. These three amigos have fired up the American people – so much so that they are finally getting involved with their country and government. It took the most radically left Senate, Congress and White House to inspire Americans to make their voices heard in town halls, online chats and a march on Washington. According to a Daily Mail report, there may have been as many as 2 million people who took to the streets of the nation's capital to say, "no more." The people have had enough with wasteful deficit spending. They will not sit back and allow the monster of federal government to grow and consume every ounce of the labor and resources 300 million citizens produce. Their message was loud and clear: Enough is enough, and it has to stop now! [CLICK HERE TO READ MORE]

America speaks up ~ By Craig R. Smith

This is an excellent column, and should be shared with everyone you know! We're not going to sit down and shut up! We are the M.O.B. ("Manufactured" Opposition Building).
Craig R. SmithBy Craig R. Smith August 10, 2009 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 Recent media coverage of Americans speaking up with their concerns about the proposed health care legislation finally removes any doubt that those on the hard Left side of the Democratic aisle hate anything that remotely resembles traditional America. When Cindy Sheehan and Medea Benjamin protested the Bush administration, they were heralded as brave Americans who loved their country enough to speak truth to power. They were treated to a level of favorable coverage like we have never seen – coverage normally reserved for Mother Teresa or Rosa Parks. But let 200, 300 hard-working, play-by-the-rules, taxpaying, law-abiding citizens voice their opinions about a government that has a deaf ear to the people and we hear words like "Nazis," "paid plants," "GOP operatives," "right-wing wackos" and worse spewing from the mouths of Democratic leadership in Congress. The ease in which they use such terms without any critical analysis by the press is very revealing. The Left is all for free speech when it tears down our nation. But let that speech turn to cries for less government and more personal accountability in D.C., and the attacks ensue. Whether it's an 80-year-old grandmother or a young person fresh out of college, he or she becomes public enemy No. 1 under the Obama/Pelosi administration. They are soon the target of censure straight out of the book, "Rules for Radicals." Saul Alinsky would be so proud of his little protégés: isolate and demean the opposition. Speaker Pelosi alleges citizens attending town halls and open forums are carrying swastikas. Where were they, Ms. Speaker? Show us. We would all like to see the video of the alleged skinheads you claim permeate the discussion. I have seen a few bald guys in the crowds but no skinheads Nancy. And yet she gets away with this without one word from the media. Imagine if Speaker Hastert had made such claims during the Bush years. Harry Reid scolds the protesters, accusing them of "sabotaging the Democratic process" in voicing their opinions. Apparently Harry has no clue what the democratic process is all about. Harry Reid doesn't want a democracy. He wants an autocracy where people sit down and shut up. Our beloved president has the audacity to say, "I don't want the people who created this mess to do a lot of the talking. I want them to get out of the way so we can clean up the mess." He has to be kidding me. Sadly he is not. Quite to the contrary, he is dead serious – serious as the heart attack he is going to give health care in America, if allowed. [READ COMPLETE COLUMN]
