Why media ignore black conservatives ~ By Erik Rush

But what of those press outlets that are not dedicated to fundamentally transforming America into a sterile socialist megalith?

Surely, a proliferation of black conservatives in media would serve to validate the conservative message in the eyes of black Americans and advance truths long-buried by liberal propagandists. Additionally, white media consumers, regardless of political affiliation, tend to listen to blacks in the political arena with a more conscientious ear than they do whites, to whom they are more routinely exposed. Logically, it stands to reason that heightened exposure to black conservatives could only help the cause to which alternative press outlets are ostensibly committed.

Erik Rush tells you how the liberal press is basically silencing the story of conservative black Americans becoming more politically engaged over the last few years as voters, office-seekers, commentators and activists. The reasons why black conservatives have been ignored, disregarded, and even derided by the liberal press (mainstream media) are discussed in this column, along with what must be done to turn around that trend. For now, it is just the conservative alternate press, such as WorldNetDaily.com, or cable news outlets such as the fair and balanced Fox News, that understand the significance of black conservatism to any degree.

Not everyone overlooks great patriotic black conservatives! There is one by the name of Herman Cain that doesn't get the attention from the mainstream media. (That may not be a bad thing, considering the vitriol they gave Sarah Palin!)

But after you read Erik's column, you'll understand a lot more about why possible candidates like Herman Cain are ignored by the liberal mainstream media. But, I'm not overlooking this potential candidate!

Why media ignore black conservatives

As we have observed, conservative black Americans have become more politically engaged over the last few years, particularly over the last 18 months. This includes voters, as well as office-seekers, commentators and activists. Prominent black conservatives, such as Reps. Allen West and Tim Scott, have become stars of the conservative movement.

While these folks are typically viewed with extreme derision amongst hardcore liberals and most politically active blacks, they have not garnered the sort of attention in one key area many observers thought they might: the press. Although the establishment press (commonly referred to as the "mainstream media" or "MSM" by non-progressives) has taken a few jabs at black conservatives in the recent past, they have largely ignored their political significance.

Around 90 percent of black voters support progressive causes and Democrat politicians. Many older Americans are aware that this was not always the case. What brought about the change in black voting habits took time – and would take time to explain – but I go over this in great detail in my book, "Negrophilia: From Slave Block to Pedestal ~ America's Racial Obsession," published by WND Books.

The answer to why the nascent black conservative movement is being disregarded by the establishment press lies in the lack – or complete absence – of coverage they have given other highly newsworthy issues of late: Black conservatism threatens the pre-eminence and perceptual validity of their ideology.

If the Democratic Party loses a substantial portion of the black vote, they're done for – and they know it. There are two reasons for this: One is simply a matter of numbers; radicals have been able to gain ground only because they have been operating within the Democratic Party. An explosion in black conservatism would expose many of these radicals. Two, such a swing would embolden white conservatives and likely give rise to a similar transformation of Latino voting habits. Thus, it is of no benefit to the establishment press to spotlight black conservatives, let alone provide a forum for their message.

Coakley is a creature of this climate. She hasn’t been running for “Ted Kennedy’s seat,” she’s been strolling to it like someone who knows it’s been reserved for her and all she needs to do is swing by the will-call window to pick it up.

Now, that’s not really my opinion of the man. But if you were inclined to imbue Tom Brokaw with pontifical authority or view the world through the prism of the New York Times, or its Mini-Me the Boston Globe, that’s how you’d see Teddy. So it should be of more than passing interest that “Ted Kennedy’s seat” in the Senate may go to Republican Scott Brown next week. And not just any Republican, but an actual conservative, as opposed to some me-too Republican who promises to drive in the same direction as liberals. Not long ago, Brown was down 30 points to Massachusetts attorney general Martha Coakley. Now it’s neck and neck, according to many polls. Brown is still the underdog, but the fact that it is even close is in itself hugely significant. It’s a bit like Tibet holding its own against China in a land war, or Abe Vigoda giving Tiger Woods a run for his money at Augusta (or, for that matter, at a Vegas nightclub). Even more astounding, Brown is running directly against what everyone agrees was Ted Kennedy’s signature issue and legacy: health-care reform. Massachusetts is the most famously Democratic state in the union. Barack Obama’s presidency and the Democratic congressional majority are invested in health-care reform like a Bernie Madoff victim, and Brown is surging by running as the monkey wrench for the whole thing. This is like a Democrat successfully running in Texas on tax hikes, gay marriage, and funding the Pentagon solely through bake sales. The Democratic party is panicking like brothel patrons with the cops at the door. They’re dropping shock troops of muckety-mucks, hacks, spinners, and door-knockers into Boston like Rangers into Normandy. Meanwhile, the liberal press establishment is in near-total denial. Yes, the race is getting a lot of attention, but Coakley’s problems are being chalked up to the fact that she is a bad campaigner and this is a bad “climate” for the Democrats. READ FULL STORY >

Seriously, I'm having a difficult time believing Mr. Obama is actually the president given he doesn't seem to be doing anything other than giving speeches and throwing parties. The American people once again have it right. Polls show the No. 1 focus of the administration should be jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs. And yet we see the White House focusing on everything but jobs. Health-care reform, climate change and second guessing hand-picked leaders in Afghanistan appear to have more of our president's attention than creating millions of jobs. Even Rick Warren on "Meet the Press" pointed out the president needs to direct energy to job creation, not health care. And yet a deaf ear sits in the Oval Office. But no one should be surprised. The entire Democratic Party is deaf to the demands of the people who elected them to lead. Apparently political victories are far more important to Mr. Obama, Pelosi and Reid than the wellbeing and will of the American people. Victories at any cost, regardless of the future damage they may impose. Democrats appear perfectly comfortable with extending unemployment benefits, thus perpetuating long-term dependence on the government. Having an electorate reliant on the politicians has been the dream of all Democrats for years, but a nightmare to anyone who loves and cherishes freedom, of course. It's a dream come true for believers in big government. When I heard Mary Landrieu from Louisiana had dubbed herself, "brave" for voting for a bill she knows is bad for America, I knew there was no leader in the White House. There is a dictator willing to allow a $300 million bribe to secure the success of legislation 72 percent of Americans believe will destroy, not improve, the best health-care system in the world. Outfits like the George Soros-subsidized Media Matters will have a field day with it – excerpting passages out of context, deliberately distorting the words I am carefully choosing and, in typical knee-jerk fashion, mocking its premise. Cable TV propagandists posing as "newsmen" will hurl invectives and dub me as a villain for expressing my honest and candid opinions – all of which are based on reality and truth. Lately, both sides of the political spectrum have suggested their political opponents resemble Nazis or fascists. Are both sides equally wrong? Let's talk about "national socialism" – because that, indeed, is exactly what Barack Obama and his friends in the Congress are actively promoting and enacting in America today. The very word "Nazi" is indeed an acronym for national socialism – the political and economic system Hitler infamously imposed on Germany in the 1930s. It was then and remains today, despite the denials historical revisionists, a "left-wing" idea. All socialism is, by definition, a left-wing notion. If the left-right political spectrum has any meaning, it is that those on the left tend to favor government intervention while those on the right favor non-government solutions to problems. That is the traditional and accepted definition – much as those on the left would like to blur that understanding. National socialists, whether they seek to kill Jews or old people or the disabled or unborn babies, will always be national socialists – no matter what kind of lipstick they put on the pig. Furthermore, people like our Founding Fathers, who sought to diffuse power because they understood its unchecked and unlimited centralization represented a grave threat to personal liberty represent the polar opposite of national socialists. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, lead sponsor of the resolution, said, "You wonder why we didn't do it 100 years ago. It is important to have a collective response to a collective injustice." Only after decades of public education ignoring and distorting U.S. history can such a huge lie be said with a straight face. Senator, you didn't do it 100 years ago because 100 years ago you Democrats were enforcing Jim Crow segregation laws, poll taxes to keep blacks from voting, and riding around in sheets and pointy hats just in case blacks didn't get the message. You say "It's important to have a collective response" because you want to bury the origins, purposes, and historical practices of your own party. The worst part is, Republicans in the Senate let you get away with it. Principled Republicans knowing their history would have authored a resolution reciting the facts that the Republican Party was formed, among other reasons, to oppose slavery and that the Republican Party and its first President Abraham Lincoln responded to Southern, Democrat-led secession with a successful war that preserved the union and freed the slaves. After Lincoln's assassination (by a Democrat), the Republican-led Congress (over the objections of the Democratic Party minority) amended the Constitution to confirm the liberation of the slaves (13th Amendment: slavery abolished), and the 14th Amendment (freed slaves are citizens equal to all citizens) and the 15th Amendment (right to vote guaranteed to freed slaves). Southern Democrats spent the next 100 years trying to keep freed slaves down with segregation laws, poll taxes to deny the right to vote, and lynching to enforce the social order. The KKK was formed by a Democrat; no Republican has ever been a member of the KKK. This is the heritage of the Democratic Party. In fact, the Democratic Party was formed in the first place to defend and expand slavery. In 1840, the very first national nominating convention of the Democratic Party adopted a platform which read in part:

Resolved, That Congress has no power ... to interfere with or control the domestic institutions of the several states ... that all efforts by abolitionists ... made to induce Congress to interfere with questions of slavery ... are calculated ... to diminish the happiness of the people, and endanger the stability and permanency of the union.

Got that, Sen. Harkin? Your party was born defending slavery as necessary for the happiness of the people and threatening secession and war if slavery were challenged. [CONTINUE READING]
