Boehner: 'I disagree' with Palin, Ernst to impeach Obama

But some Republicans have called for more, calling the president's use of executive orders an impeachable offense.

"Enough is enough of the years of abuse from this president," Palin wrote in an op-ed for Breitbart. "His unsecured border crisis is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, 'no mas.'"

I was kind of surprised that GOPUSA.com would ever post a "news story" from a mainstream media source such as United Press International. I am totally flabbergasted by UPI mentioning Joni Ernst in this article. Ernst, the Republican candidate for the U. S. Senate, could have been taken completely out of context.  Who knows? 

And video surfaced this week of Iowa Republican Senate candidate Joni Ernst at a forum in January, calling for "repercussions" for using executive orders.

"He is continually using executive order, he is making appointments without authority," she said. "So yes, absolutely he is overstepping his bounds. And I do think that, yes, he should face those repercussions. Now, whether that's removal from office, whether that's impeachment..."

I quoted the above from the UPI story, exactly as it was written. I have to believe the way UPI wrote that, there is more to the story! But then, if Joni Ernst really DOES want impeachment, I have no problem with that.

But wait.  Joni Ernst has nothing to do with what Sarah Palin wrote in her editorial, which is why I have to ask some questions about this story:

• Why did GOPUSA.com fall for the liberal media trick of pitting Republicans against each other?

• Why did UPI even include anything about Joni Ernst in this story, and especially in the headline? Is it possible that they took Joni's comments out of context in order to cram it in to this story?  Did strong liberal groups influence UPI's reporting on this story because they are afraid Joni Ernst would win Tom Harkin's Senate seat here in Iowa?

WASHINGTON -- House Speaker John Boehner squashed new rumblings from some corners of his party to impeach President Obama over his executive actions, including his immigration policies.

Answering a question from reporters to respond to a statement from former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Ohio Republican simply said, "I disagree."

Boehner has moved forward with plans to introduce legislation in the House to sue Obama over what he says is an abuse of his executive power under the Constitution, but said his goal was to get the president to enforce laws as passed by Congress, not remove him from office.

"This is not about impeachment, this is about faithfully executing the laws of this country," he said.

Senator's take on gasoline mandates: 'We own auto companies, why not?'

According to a Des Moines Register report, Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, wants Congress to use "climate change" legislation to mandate that auto manufacturers fit all new cars to run on a blend of 85 percent ethanol. "We own the automobile companies," Harkin said earlier this week. "Why not? I think that will be an easy one." Harkin, the Register reports, also wants to see the climate bill increase installation of E85 fuel pumps around the country and compel the Environmental Protection Agency to up the current limit on ethanol content in gasoline blends from 10 percent to 15 percent. Harkin's plans would pave the way for increasing demand of corn-based ethanol fuel blends and likely be of political benefit to the senator, who not only chairs the Senate Agriculture Committee, but also hails from the state that leads the nation in ethanol production. U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu agreed, stating in a speech last month that all new vehicles should be equipped to run on E85, though Chu spokesman Tom Reynolds later told the Register the Obama administration is not planning to impose mandates on the car companies. "The administration has been clear that the government won't be making day-to-day business decisions for GM and Chrysler," Reynolds said. "Those decisions will be left to the company's executives." Currently, America's three largest car companies make some E85-compatible cars, but have resisted any requirements that all cars be fitted for the fuel. [CONTINUE READING]

Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, lead sponsor of the resolution, said, "You wonder why we didn't do it 100 years ago. It is important to have a collective response to a collective injustice." Only after decades of public education ignoring and distorting U.S. history can such a huge lie be said with a straight face. Senator, you didn't do it 100 years ago because 100 years ago you Democrats were enforcing Jim Crow segregation laws, poll taxes to keep blacks from voting, and riding around in sheets and pointy hats just in case blacks didn't get the message. You say "It's important to have a collective response" because you want to bury the origins, purposes, and historical practices of your own party. The worst part is, Republicans in the Senate let you get away with it. Principled Republicans knowing their history would have authored a resolution reciting the facts that the Republican Party was formed, among other reasons, to oppose slavery and that the Republican Party and its first President Abraham Lincoln responded to Southern, Democrat-led secession with a successful war that preserved the union and freed the slaves. After Lincoln's assassination (by a Democrat), the Republican-led Congress (over the objections of the Democratic Party minority) amended the Constitution to confirm the liberation of the slaves (13th Amendment: slavery abolished), and the 14th Amendment (freed slaves are citizens equal to all citizens) and the 15th Amendment (right to vote guaranteed to freed slaves). Southern Democrats spent the next 100 years trying to keep freed slaves down with segregation laws, poll taxes to deny the right to vote, and lynching to enforce the social order. The KKK was formed by a Democrat; no Republican has ever been a member of the KKK. This is the heritage of the Democratic Party. In fact, the Democratic Party was formed in the first place to defend and expand slavery. In 1840, the very first national nominating convention of the Democratic Party adopted a platform which read in part:

Resolved, That Congress has no power ... to interfere with or control the domestic institutions of the several states ... that all efforts by abolitionists ... made to induce Congress to interfere with questions of slavery ... are calculated ... to diminish the happiness of the people, and endanger the stability and permanency of the union.

Got that, Sen. Harkin? Your party was born defending slavery as necessary for the happiness of the people and threatening secession and war if slavery were challenged. [CONTINUE READING]

Senate support builds for 'Fairness Doctrine'

Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, has become the second U.S. senator in a week to endorse a return to the ideas behind the so-called "Fairness Doctrine," a plan that was abandoned under President Reagan in 1987 as unnecessary and unconstitutional. Harkin told radio host and WND columnist Bill Press, "We gotta get the Fairness Doctrine back in law again."
