Obama: Transforming America ~ By Henry Lamb

The War Powers Act says:
The constitutional powers of the President as Commander-in-Chief to introduce United States Armed Forces into hostilities … are exercised only pursuant to (1) a declaration of war, (2) specific statutory authorization, or (3) a national emergency created by attack upon the United States, its territories or possessions, or its armed forces"
As a candidate in 2007, Obama knew better. He told the Boston Globe:
The president does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.
As president, he doesn't seem to care what the Constitution or the War Powers Act say. He considers the Constitution to be a "flawed" document he alone has the wisdom to correct.

Obama's foreign policy is transforming America.

Here is the thing: Politicians always promise things that they know the voters want, and they rarely deliver. But here's the other thing: Obama told America what he wanted to do to transform America during the 2008 campaign, and he still managed to be elected. And shockingly, he has delivered on way too much of the agenda he promised. And then, there are the promises that John Stossel says Obama did not deliver on:

Video provided by HTX900s on Jan 20, 2010

It took me an extra day to get this great column by Henry Lamb posted. I wanted to make sure that I would be able to add further value to what he had to say. Well, as it turned out, there wasn't much more I could write that would fill in any blanks. Henry had it covered. But, at least I found the above video that illustrates much of what is covered in Henry's first paragraph.

And here is one last thing... When those of us on the Right have something to point out about Obama and the Left, it isn't "nasty, smarmy things." No, we're just letting people know what it was that Obama promised, and it is in his own words. It isn't just about which parts of the Obama agenda that have succeeded or failed that really matters. It is the fact that he made his agenda known: Transform America. And I think the results of that transformation will not be pretty. The very scary part is that it really seems to be intentional. Very scary, especially for the fact that Obama has announced that he is running in 2012. I'm just sayin'....

Editor's note: Listen to this column online.

He said he was going to do it. He explained why he was going to do it. He even said how he was going to do it. He has been doing it since the day he took office.

To be fair, he did take office at a time when the economy was on the brink of disaster. Of course, he and others of his philosophical ilk caused both the housing bubble and its collapse – no matter how hard they deny it. Organizations such as ACORN, where Obama cut his teeth as a community organizer, demanded that banks fund mortgages for people who had no hope of repaying them. Democrats in Congress made it easy for banks by guaranteeing the loans through Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Two months before the 2008 election, the U.S. government had to bail out the two failed financial institutions to the tune of $15 billion.

During eight years under the Bush administration, the national debt increased by $4 trillion ($500 billion per year.) These years included the attack on the World Trade Centers, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and Hurricane Katrina, as well as the explosion of the housing bubble. Obama added $4 trillion to the national debt in 421 days. And his "spreading the wealth around" has created a debt that will burden future generations for years to come.

Obama's economic policy is transforming America.

Despite the absence of constitutional authority, or a single Republican vote, Obama's health-care plan not only deepens the public debt, but also forces previously free citizens to purchase a product designated by the government. Never before has the federal government presumed to dictate what its citizens must buy. Moreover, Obama and his Democratic majority in Congress used bizarre procedures to force "Obamacare" into law. By so doing, Obama has demonstrated that he believes his ideas on governance to be superior to the founders', and that achieving his goals is far more important than any rules or procedural restraints.

Obama chooses not to enforce federal drug laws relating to marijuana, or to allow his Department of Justice to prosecute Black Panthers who stood – with billy club in hand – in front of polling places to intimidate white voters. But he quickly sues a school district for not allowing a Muslim teacher to take three weeks off to go to Mecca.

Obama's social policy is transforming America.

Questioning What Went Wrong ~ By Jennifer Rubin

Commentary from CommentaryMagazine.com
By Jennifer Rubin 11.28.2009 - 8:00 AM Politico’s Arena section recently featured back-to-back questions for discussion. “Obama’s Charisma, Where Did He Leave It?” was followed by “Should Obama hit the reset button on the White House?” Well, that speaks volumes, huh? Like a Saturday Night Live skit, the questions depend on shared understandings that Obama isn’t who the liberal intelligentsia once thought he was and that his presidency isn’t doing so well. One of the ordinary folk who chimed in on the topic of charisma, reminded readers that not all of us thought Obama was so charismatic to begin with:
Lest you forget: millions of people, me included, never found Obama charismatic at all. Half the country, the truth to tell. I voted against a Democrat for the first time in over 40 years because of his candidacy – he always seemed to me exactly as he has turned out- a man who probably can take a test well, but has zero imagination, a man who thinks leading is telling people what he wants (though he sometimes doesn’t even do that), a man who constantly speaks ambiguously in order to always have an out.
But a great many people, ignoring the vapidity of Obama’s rhetoric about lowering the oceans and “we are the world,” did think s0 and were in full swoon. Now they no longer are. That includes a great many self-styled moderates and many members of the liberal media. The import is clear for the presidency: Obama is neither galvanizing the public opinion nor leading. His countless health-care speeches have done nothing to sway public opinion on ObamaCare. Even the rest of his agenda (e.g., cap-and-trade, card check) seems to be on permanent hold. His decisions on Guantanamo and KSM have been wildly unpopular. And on the world stage, the IOC, the mullahs, and the parties in the Middle East — well, just about everyone — are unmoved by Obama’s supposed mystique. READ FULL STORY >

Trial in New York is triumph for al-Qaida ~ By Roger Hedgecock

From WorldNetDaily
Roger Hedgecock By Roger Hedgecock Posted: November 16, 2009 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 Five jihadi warriors, including the mastermind of the attacks of Sept. 11, will return to New York to face the consequence of their crime in a court of law. Editorial writers in the Obama press over the weekend waxed eloquent about the triumph of American justice. The long night of torture, rendition and endless incarceration under the evil Bush is at last over and due process is restored even for our attackers, to show the world how fair and civilized America has once again become under President Obama – or, as the Chinese call him, Oba-mao. A while back in law school, I was taught that a criminal trial was a search for truth during which the government had to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant committed the crime(s) the government charged. In December 2008, before a military court at Gitmo, these same defendants admitted committing the crimes charged, and, rather than expressing remorse for the deaths of 3,000 people that resulted, bragged about the attacks of Sept. 11 and proclaimed that they wore the government's charges like a "badge of honor." Congress authorized the military court in 2006 in response to criticism of long incarcerations of Gitmo detainees by Bush. Nonetheless, in January 2009, newly sworn-in President Obama acted swiftly to suspend the military trial at Gitmo before that court could pronounce sentence on the admittedly guilty jihadis. Democrats in Congress had seen to it in 2006 that the law authorizing the military courts protected the defendant's rights to the lawyer of their choice, to call witnesses in their defense, to have the right of appeal – to observe all the due process demanded for these jihadis by the American Left. The jihadis ignored all of it and bragged about their role in attacking America, asserting in writing that their actions were the will of Allah. Why would the president risk humiliation for America if this "show trial" results in acquittal, or even in endless defense motions and appeals which drag out for years and demonstrate not the strength of our justice system but its weakness? Obama is a lawyer, not a leader ~ By Craig R. Smith

"Given his background, there are many questions about where Barack Obama's true allegiance lies. However, one thing we do know for an absolute fact: Barak Obama is 100 percent lawyer. He was trained as a lawyer, thinks like a lawyer, acts like a lawyer and is a lawyer. Thus, he views everything through lawyer's eyes." Read the story | Digg story

Geraldo, Coulter, Gonzales and Smiley on Gitmo Detainees

Obama and Cheney battle over war on terror policies

By JOSH GERSTEIN & JONATHAN MARTIN In an extraordinary crosstown debate carried live across the airwaves, President Barack Obama and former Vice President Dick Cheney battled Thursday over the Bush administration’s war on terror, with Cheney issuing a scathing rejection of the new president’s policies and saying Obama is leaving the nation exposed to attack. Cheney accused those who call Bush interrogation practices torture – as Obama has – of engaging in “contrived indignation and phony moralizing on the interrogation methods applied to a few captured terrorists.” And he urged Obama to make future national security choices based not on “slogans and campaign rhetoric, but on a truthful telling of history.” Obama, in turn, said President George W. Bush decimated the nation’s values and beliefs in a hastily conceived, poorly executed plan that left him a “mess” at Guantanamo Bay prison and American’s image abroad in tatters. Obama said the only responsible way to clean up problems at Gitmo is to bring some prisoners to the U.S. for trial, despite the intense resistance to that idea in Congress. Stop whining about Cheney ~ By David Limbaugh

Democratic strategists are free to dramatize their manufactured indignation over the charge of subordinating our national security for political gain, but their chickens are coming home to roost. Their inconsistent, untenable, reckless positions have been exposed, and they've tied themselves in knots... which explains a lot of things. read more | digg story

Gitmo: Dems' ongoing headache ~ By Melanie Morgan

The Obama administration and Democrats are in a pickle over Obama's boneheaded decision to close Guantanamo Bay. The Democrats are backpedaling at light speed because the issue is a real stinker for them. They are the party of "yes the terrorists can" come to America. That's the only option for Obama if he insists on closing Gitmo. read more | digg story

Watching MSNBC is torture ~ By Ann Coulter

By Ann Coulter The media wail about "torture," but are noticeably short on facts. Liberals try to disguise the utter wussification of our interrogation techniques by constantly prattling on about "the banality of evil." Um, no. In this case, it's actually the banality of the banal. Start with the fact that the average Gitmo detainee has gained 20 pounds in captivity. There's even a medical term for it now: "the Gitmo gut." Some prisoners have been heard whispering, "If you think Allah is great, you should try these dinner rolls." In terms of "torture," there was "the attention grasp," which you have seen in every department store you have ever been where a mother was trying to get her misbehaving child's attention. If "the attention grasp" doesn't work, the interrogators issue a stern warning: "Don't make me pull this car over." [Continue reading]

Muslims: 'We do that on first dates' ~ By Ann Coulter

Without any pretense of an argument, which liberals are neurologically incapable of, the mainstream media are now asserting that our wussy interrogation techniques at Guantanamo constituted "torture" and have irreparably harmed America's image abroad. We are now snickered at in capitals around the world, where they know what real torture is. read more | digg story

Terrorists' restless leg syndrome - By Ann Coulter

Ann Coulter reveals a side of Camp Guantánamo that its detractors did not want you to know about. Expensive medical procedures -- including prosthetic limbs -- at taxpayer expense. *This* is torture?
