VIDEO: This country is in trouble!

When watching this video, a segment on The O'Reilly Factor called "Watters' World," your first reaction may be shock. Are our schools that bad, that kids can graduate without knowing basic American history, and perhaps still manage to get accepted into college? Really?

But then another thought has occurred to me. In the video, you'll hear Jesse Watters telling O'Reilly that it isn't hard to find these people, because they usually approach him. That could be the smoking gun. Is it plausible to believe that these people being asked the easy questions are just trying to get their 15 seconds of fame on TV? Could they possibly just be acting dumb so that Watters includes them in his clips?

So, either kids are not getting a good education these days, and they really are that clueless in many cases, or, the rest of us are just a bunch of gullible suckers that believe just about anything we see on TV. Either way, this country is in trouble! Just sayin'...

Video: The journalism in the Flight MH370 mystery is bazaar

While Bill O'Reilly and Bernie Goldberg are flipping out about the journalism in the coverage of the missing Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370, they were forgetting that it took at least a week to determine that the missing flight went down in the South Indian Ocean, if that is actually what happened. And after all the various reporting by the mainstream media, the Black Hole Network (CNN), Fox News Channel, the New Media, and even citizen journalists, there's going to be a strong chance that there will still be plenty of doubt about any forthcoming official explanation.

When I watched this segment, the first thought I had was that O'Reilly and Goldberg had been reading my blogs. No, I never predicted what happened to Flight MH370, but I definitely nailed it on the media and public reaction to the mystery. The only thing that I ever predicted, which goes along with the theme of the bazaar journalism, was what I wrote on Tuesday, March 11, 2014:
New reports are still coming in, and in later posts, I'll be giving you updates. One thing you will probably never see me write, though, is "mystery solved." We many never find out for sure what happened, or we may never hear the truth about what happened.
It wasn't what O'Reilly said in this segment that irked me, it was the arrogant way that he says that he had it right for a week, and that any other journalists were only exploiting the story for their ratings. Yes, I will agree, there were news reporters and their guests that were way out there, but I think that most of us, We the People, are not We the Clueless like O'Reilly tries to make us seem to be.   Except for the low-info knuckledraggers that never follow the news, most of us are able to discern the stories that were informative from those of the conspiracy theorists. Well, usually...

I began following the story over two weeks ago, right here on johnny2k's Blogging in Our Time 2 Escape. Here is a timeline of the stories I've posted related to the Mystery of the Missing Flight MH370:
I have to agree with Geraldo Rivera when he said, "You have to cover all the bases." In an investigation, you have to evaluate all of the leads and clues, gather the evidence, and then possibly make conclusions. Now that they believe the missing Flight MH370 is in the South Indian Ocean, based on the clues, the next part of the case will be trying to determine how and why the plane flew those seven or eight hours to land in the drink.  Finding the aircraft, and possibly some remains of passengers, would do a lot to bring closure for the victims' families, but knowing the actual cause for sure may take years, if ever.  But, because of the "bazaar journalism," there will be plenty of people that will never believe any "official explanation." Just sayin'...

VIDEO: What Geraldo said should have been on the Black Hole Network?

Rumsfeld in January 2001
Reports that say that something hasn't happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns; that is to say, there are things that we now know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns – there are things we do not know we don't know.
~ United States Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld
[Via Wikipedia]
For Bill O'Reilly to disparage Geraldo Rivera in the way that he does in this video, he is doing a great disservice to all journalists that are trying to report the story of the missing Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370. What O'Reilly did was to make people skeptical about any news that they hear about the missing flight. Right before Geraldo was able to discuss his "theory," O'Reilly attacked his credibility.

The arrogant behavior by some of the pundits is appalling; many in the media are looking for ways to be the most sensational. And meanwhile, to be the "oracle" that breaks the "case solved" story, they have to rip into every other "theory."  It is not satisfactory journalism when those of us that are trying to pay attention are constantly forced to discern between facts and speculative theories in the reporting. Mr. O'Reilly, it is BECAUSE of the wall-to-wall media coverage, and WILD speculations, that We the People have to keep every possibility on the table, just as Geraldo said. We don't know if it was a mechanical failure, an attempted hijacking that failed or succeeded, or SOMETHING ELSE entirely!

(See Update on March 24, 2014 below.)

As Donald Rumsfeld said, "There are things we do not know we don't know."  What do the journalists not know that they don't know?  It makes me wonder.  Just sayin'...

UPDATE March 24, 2014:

I just came across the youtube.com clip from the Black Hole Network (CNN) and felt it should be shown here.   H/T to Girls Just Wanna Have Guns With Regis Giles:

Don Lemon - Is It Preposterous to Think a Black Hole Caused Flight 370 to Go Missing? - CNN

Published on Mar 19, 2014

3-19-14 - CNN's Don Lemon has been entertaining all sorts of theories about the missing Malaysian Airlines Flight 370, including the chance something "supernatural" happened, but on Wednesday night, he actually asked panelists about the possibility a black hole was involved. Lemon brought this up along with other "conspiracy theories" people have been floating on Twitter, including people noting the eerie parallels to Lost and The Twilight Zone, and wondered, "is it preposterous" to consider a black hole as a possibility?

Mary Schiavo, a former Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Transportation, said, "A small black hole would suck in our entire universe, so we know it's not that."

Here's another theory I'll just throw out there: what about the plane entered a wormhole into another dimension? I don't know if that's how the science works, though.

Trump speaks the unspeakable ~ By Robert Ringer

What a great novel all this would make … though it would have to be toned down quite a bit for it to be more believable to discerning readers. In the meantime, I hope Donald Trump presses forward and uses his considerable clout to force into the open what could be the biggest political scandal in the history of this country.
In the column I posted yesterday, I mentioned that we "can thank Donald Trump for ramping up the attention the story is receiving now."  In this column, Robert Ringer would seem to be agreeing with my assessment. Robert wrote: "I find it so refreshing that someone of Donald Trump's stature had the courage to come forward and demand that Barack Obama produce his birth certificate."

Back on March 31, I wrote, "Now that Donald Trump has stepped into the mix, mostly beginning with his appearance on 'The View,' it is a whole new ball game." And here's the thing: Donald Trump apparently has a quick learning curve.  He has taken the time to learn about the available information (because of WND's extensive research? Ya think?), and he has the courage to ask that question about the birth certificate. And that is even with the possibility that Donald is going to run for President!

So, we now have something very interesting to consider. Trump's question about the Obama eligibility proof has not - I repeat - HAS NOT hurt him in the straw polls for being the next GOP candidate for President. I mean, is that weird, or what? Can you believe it? Why wasn't Donald ridiculed into oblivion after stating his opinion on shows such as "The View"? Oh, he received the ridicule, but for some reason, this time, it didn't seem to stick.

Because of Donald Trump, Obama's eligibility issue is no longer "unspeakable" amongst the "elite" class. I am hoping that people in the media will actually try to do some research, and discover why there is this anomaly in politics. But here is a clue for the liberal media that should now be embarrassed that they weren't paying attention because of their bias: Guess who the American public pays more attention to? Donald Trump, or you? And the irony is, the liberal media helped Donald Trump be who he is in public notoriety!

Congratulations, liberals! You've been "Trumped"! I'm just sayin'....

Trump speaks the unspeakable

I've long wondered if Republicans can field a candidate who has the courage to ignore the unwritten rule that it's politically incorrect to speak the truth about America's current make-believe president.

When George Bush graciously turned over the White House keys to the mysterious man with the mysterious background, few realized he was handing America's top secrets to the enemies from within. But given the swiftness with which Obama began implementing his collectivist, anti-America agenda, it didn't take long for millions of voters to wake up. Sadly, however, many more millions still choose to ignore his anti-American words and actions and write off those who oppose him as racists or right-wing radicals.

Which is why I find it so refreshing that someone of Donald Trump's stature had the courage to come forward and demand that Barack Obama produce his birth certificate. Notwithstanding all the evidence that has been presented by Jerome Corsi and others who have been on top of this issue since long before Obama was elected, the left has succeeded in silencing anyone who has dared broach the subject by writing them off as conspiracy nuts.

And BHO himself has displayed incredible chutzpah when pressed on the subject, on one occasion even wisecracking to Brian Williams, "I can't spend all my time with my birth certificate plastered on my forehead." Nice Alinsky-like diversionary tactic, Barack, but it's not working so well anymore. In fact, even the master of the tingled leg, Chris Matthews, is suggesting that you put to bed all this ridiculous talk about your not being a citizen by simply producing your birth certificate. What a novel idea.

That Obama apparently does not have an authentic U.S. birth certificate is becoming increasingly evident. If he did have such a document, he would have to be an arrogant fool not to put it on public display to shut up all those crazy birthers. Arrogant, yes. But fool … I don't think so.

Bill O'Reilly has long snickered at anyone who broached the birther subject, always insisting that his staff had "already checked it out." But when Trump recently pressed him on the issue, O'Reilly said that what his people had found was a birth announcement in two Hawaii newspapers. Tell you what, Bill. If you'd like an announcement of some kind put in any newspaper in the country, just pay me a hundred bucks and I'll be happy to do it for you – quickly and easily.

I don't claim to have done any serious investigation on this subject, but, based on Obama's own refusal to make his birth certificate available to at least (all) members of the press, I have no choice but to assume that he was not born in this country. Kind of a familiar theme, since he also had all of his records sealed at Columbia (where no one from his class seems to have any recollection of him) and Harvard.

But let's not get hung up on a little thing like where Obama was born. It's just that I have this gnawing piece of advice stuck in the back of my mind: "Trust, but verify."

Whatever his place of birth, the one thing that is clear are Obama's own words and actions throughout the part of his career that is actually documented. It's time to start talking openly about the guy who vowed to fundamentally change the United States of America and stop pretending as though he's just another moderate liberal who's "not up to the task" of governing.

O'Reilly and O'Bama ~ By Chrissy Satterfield

My fingers are crossed for O'Reilly. I know he'll do a great job, but I thought that about my Chargers, too, and look what happened. People will remember this interview. And I hope it's when they are at the voting booth. My dose of honesty: Obama better get his ducks in a row come Sunday morning. It's game time, and he's kept us waiting far too long.
Chrissy Satterfield gives us her Super Bowl pregame analysis of the Bill O'Reilly vs. Barack O'Bama bout to be aired before the big game. Will O'Reilly be able to deal some big punches, or will he hold off so he isn't disrespectful of the President? Will O'Bama be more prepared for any sports-related questions? Will he have his defenses ready to handle what is thrown at him? Or are we just going to just see another soft-ball contest like O'Bama expects from any of the news networks, even Fox News?

All right, sports fans, get your cheese heads and your terrible towels ready. Super Bowl Sunday is just around the corner, and since I can't stand the Steelers and my Chargers have been out of the running for quite some time, the most exciting thing I'm looking forward to is Bill O'Reilly's interview with the president during the Super Bowl pre-game show.

Finally, Obama will come down from his ivory tower and appear on the nation's No. 1 news network. That's right, No. 1. Fox News might be hated by some, but millions tune in every night. Put that in your pipe, CNN. Now, as most of you probably already know, this will be O'Reilly's second interview with Obama. He first appeared during the election campaign back in 2008. Apparently, when you're running for president it's OK to go on Fox, but after you've won you're too cool.

I'm anxious to see if either Obama or O'Reilly hold back. I know O'Reilly is "looking out for you," but I find it hard to believe that he would interrupt the president like he does most of his guests. I'm sure he'll be respectful, but I hope he puts Obama through the ringer just as he would any other wishy-washy guest. I'm also hopeful that O'Reilly makes Obama answer the questions directly and doesn't allow him to dance around them. The people deserve answers, and O'Reilly understands that.

I think we can rule out any sports questions since Obama's White Sox incident, where he couldn't name his favorite player. I'd blame the kerfuffle on nerves, but it was the easiest question in the book: "Who was your favorite player growing up?" Come on. He should have seen that coming. Hmm, I'm at a baseball game; they'll probably ask me a baseball question.

One question I'm crossing my fingers for is how Obama could say Fox News is "destructive." The president has bashed FNC on more than one occasion, always on the defensive. Obama has felt FNC is basically out to get him – and his little administration, too. First of all, this isn't "The Wizard of Oz," and FNC isn't the Wicked Witch of the West. No one is out to get the president, but if he and his administration screw up, someone should call them on it. He can't expect his mistakes to go unnoticed.

We're making progress on birth certificate ~ By Joseph Farah

I tell you, it's not just Obama who is going to pay a price in history for this scandal. All those who aided and abetted him in the media are going down, too.

Now that this story shows no signs of going away, I think they're beginning to realize what they missed.
The media spin about Barack Obama's birth certificate and proof of eligibility and the attacks on the "birthers" is starting to slip. Joseph Farah tells us that some of the media elitists are beginning to at least want Obama to release that actual birth certificate supposedly kept in the archives in Hawaii.

We're making progress on birth certificate
JOSEPH FARAH

Have you noticed how much better informed the major news media have become about the missing birth certificate since Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie entered the picture?

It wasn't that long ago that most of the TV talking heads and alleged news reporters were telling the American people that Barack Obama had released his birth certificate. They seemed incapable of comprehending the difference between the digital short-form certification of live birth offered up by the Obama campaign in 2008 and a standard, long-form birth certificate we're all familiar with.

How many of you recall Bill O'Reilly and Chris Matthews waiving copies of the certification of live birth in front of the camera, telling the American people they had the actual birth certificate?

How many times do you recall them viciously attacking those who persisted in demanding the absolute minimal documentation needed to ensure Obama was indeed constitutionally eligible to serve as president – without ever giving any of those conscientious, principled, rational advocates of the rule of law and openness in government the opportunity to answer their ad hominem insults?

How many times have you heard them characterize "birthers" as a fringe group of crackpots and conspiracy nuts?

Now, all of a sudden, as polls continue to show Americans increasingly skeptical about Obama's birth narrative despite the media's stonewalling and obfuscating, along comes the new socialist governor of Hawaii who admits the possibility that the release of some actual evidence might indeed quell what is turning into widespread public distrust of both the government and what Rush Limbaugh astutely calls "the state-sponsored media."

He says he would like to release the birth certificate – though I doubt he ever will.

But that leaves O'Reilly, Matthews and the rest of the Big Media in a dilemma. After all, they have been pretending for years that the birth certificate has already been released.

It didn't take Matthews long to do a 180.

Hey, if the Democratic governor of Hawaii wants the birth certificate released, then he's for it, too. He even bullied two certifiably leftist pundits on his panel to capitulate to his demand as well.

O'Reilly is sure to follow suit if he hasn't already.

Looks like the birth certificate issue is reaching critical mass.

The rich don't pay, they leave ~ By John Stossel

John Stossel's column this week is about higher taxes for "the wealthy" and whether or not it will help the economy or lower the national debt or annual budget deficits. Will higher taxes on the wealthy actually increase tax revenues? Or, will it hurt the economy even more?

The following video of John Stossel talking with Bill O'Reilly discusses most of the points made in this column.  There is a short discussion about Stossel's conversation with a union boss, but the rest of the video will cover the subject of this column:

Bill O'Reilly: John Stossel vs Unions And Taxes On The Wealthy

Video provided by iwanttomarrycarrie

So, you see, it's really all about class warfare. The left wants to have us all believe that the rich are just greedy individuals that should be punished by high taxes. In the meanwhile, the economy continues to be stagnate. There are many of us that believe the "rich" are the ones that will use available funds to invest in capital assets, which stimulates the economy. Take away their funds by higher taxes and you will see less j0bs being created by the private sector.

Combine higher taxes on wealthier people with the uncertainty of not knowing what the tax rates will be, not knowing how everything in the Obamacare legislation will affect their businesses, and wondering if further Obama agenda like cap and tax or card check will be enacted in the lame duck session, keeps private investment down. Those things not only hurt the "rich," but it will hurt anyone hunting for a job.

My preference for getting the economy back on track would be to not only extend the Bush era tax cuts, I would give business owners more incentives by even further cuts in taxes and increasing the confidence and certainty by making the tax cuts permanent. Just sayin'...

Art Laffer, the economist who has a curve illustrating this point named after him, isn't surprised.

"It's just economics," he says. "People don't work to pay taxes. People work to get what they can after tax. They'll change where they earn their income. They'll change how they earn their income. They'll change how much they earn, when they receive the income. They'll change all of those things to minimize taxes."

We can see it in the statistics. In 1960, federal revenues were 18.6 percent of total output. Over the next 50 years, that percentage has rarely exceeded 20 percent or fallen below 17 percent. As Laffer says, people adjust their activities to the tax burden.
The rich don't pay, they leave

Progressives want to raise taxes on individuals who make more than $200,000 a year because they say it's wrong for the rich to be "given" more money. Sunday's New York Times carries a cartoon showing Uncle Sam handing money to a fat cat. They just don't get it.

As I've said before, a tax cut is not a handout. It simply means government steals less. What progressives want to do is take money from some – by force – and spend it on others. It sounds less noble when plainly stated.

That's the moral side of the matter. There's a practical side, too. Taxes discourage wealth creation. That hurts everyone, the lower end of the income scale most of all. An economy that, through freedom, encourages the production of wealth raises the living standards of lower-income people as well as everyone else.

A free society is not a zero-sum game in which every gain is offset by someone's loss. As long as government keeps its thumb off the scales, the "makers" who get rich do so by making others better off. When the government allocates capital or creates barriers to competition, however, all bets are off.

Of course, this is not the prevailing view among the intelligentsia.

Columbia University Professor Marc Lamont Hill tells me, "Those who have more should pay more."

But is there a point where they stop producing wealth or leave altogether?

"The rich have always cried wolf like that," Hill says.

But the wolf is here. Maryland created a special tax on rich people that was supposed to bring in $106 million. Instead, the state lost $257 million.

Former Gov. Robert Ehrlich, who is running again for his old job, says: "It reminds me of Charlie Brown. Charlie Brown was always surprised when Lucy pulled the football away. And they're always surprised in Washington and state capitals when the dollars never come in."

Some of Maryland's rich left the state.

"They're out of here. These people aren't stupid," Ehrlich says.

New York billionaire Tom Golisano isn't stupid, either. With $3,000 and one employee, he started a business that processes paychecks for companies. He created 13,000 jobs.

Then New York state hiked the income tax on millionaires.

"It was the straw that broke the camel's back," he says. "Not that I like to throw the number around, but my personal income tax last year would've been $13,800 a day. Would you like to write a check for $13,800 a day to a state government, as opposed to moving to another state where there's no state income tax or very low state income tax?"

He established residence in Florida, which has no personal income tax.

The age of the stupid tube ~ By Robert Ringer

As Robert points out, things will get very interesting this Fall as the election in November looms. As to how stupid it will get on TV entirely depends on which networks you watch for your news. If you happen to be watching the Fair and Balanced network, at least you will be allowed to see all the charges of racism being shown to be the lies that they are, despite the fact you will have to put up with liberal talking heads with no brains from time to time.

You can count on the liberals to give us plenty of fodder for stupid TV, as they will be pointing out that anyone against Obama, anyone in the Tea Party Movement, and anyone against amnesty for illegal aliens or who supports Arizona's SB 1070, are racists. And that is all while they ignore stories about the racists of the New Black Panther Party involved in voter intimidation along with more of ACORN's attempts to register anyone who isn't white to vote, regardless of whether or not they are legally qualified or above room temperature. Just sayin'...

If you're as bored as I am listening to all this manufactured racial nonsense, I feel obliged to warn you that the worst is yet to come. As November draws ever closer, the angry Progressive Beast is starting to thrash about like a dinosaur trapped in a tar pit. And as the pain increases and reality begins to set in, you can count on it wailing in panic and ratcheting up its desperate attempts to paint everyone to the right of Fidel Castro and Barry the Bull Slinger as angry white racists.

One thing's for sure: It should provide an avalanche of stupid tube programming.

By Robert Ringer

© 2010

It's becoming harder and harder to watch television. It's no wonder they called it the "boob tube" in the days of yore. When I was a kid, there was a lot of dumb stuff on television, but it paled in comparison to what passes as acceptable television programming today.

If it was the boob tube in the '50s and '60s, it's the stupid tube today. But let's set aside pro wrestling, reality TV, Mel Gibson, LeBron James and the Barefoot Bandit for now and focus on what are supposed to be serious news and commentary shows.

In this area, it pretty much gets down to Fox News as a rational person's only meaningful choice. But even on Fox, one has to put up with a cast of lame characters such as Ellis Henican, Juan Williams, Kirsten Powers, Bob Beckel and Alan Colmes … to name but a few. It's a group that would make Howdy Doody proud.

I don't believe any of these talking heads are evil. Nor are most of them ignorant. I think it's more a matter of their realizing they have a role to play (as in, defend progressive policies at all costs), so they become adept at keeping themselves in self-delusive trances.

And now that we have the Kenyan Kid in the White House – a Marxist who has set back race relations in the U.S. 40 years – today's stupid-tubish topic of choice is racism. Listening to all the make-believe racism silliness is like being in a time machine and going back to the 1960s. It's enough to make one yawn with excitement.

When BHO Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack fired Shirley Sherrod for supposedly admitting to prejudice against a white farmer, then offered her another job a day later when he realized he didn't have his facts straight, it put the spotlight on just how ridiculous the whole racism industry has become.

And, of course, most of the media missed the real story – that Ms. Sherrod's great epiphany was not just that blacks versus whites is a no-no to talk about, but the real "struggle" is the haves versus the have-nots. How reassuring. Instead of deifying her, congressional Republicans should be demanding that she be permanently banned from working for the government.

Then there's Bill O'Reilly's stimulating discussions with intellectual dwarf Marc LaMont Hill – you know, the kid with the Ph.D. who tries to hide his lack of knowledge by talking at the speed of light. Listening to their exchange a couple of weeks ago about the pros and cons of the New Black Panthers was like watching "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." It made Lindsay Lohan's court breakdown seem like an intellectual step forward.

And, trust me, the "New" Black Panthers are not going to go away. The chairman of the party, all-American boy Malik Shabazz, loves the spotlight too much. Who would have believed that major air time would be given to a handful of thugs who woke up one morning and said, "Hey, man, why don't we call ourselves the new Black Panther Party and scare the hell of some crackers? It'd be a lot more fun than workin' for whitey."

No big deal, really. After all, there are a lot of bored, unemployed people in this country who engage in meaningless activities every day. But, for crying out loud, we shouldn't take every unemployed rabble rouser seriously. And the media certainly shouldn't be giving them air time.

Of course, if they get carried away and start brandishing clubs and trying to intimidate people at voting stations, you simply arrest them, bring them to trial and put them behind bars for a few years. Not to rehabilitate them; that's a progressive fantasy. The reason you put them away is to keep them off the streets so they can't harass civilized people.

But with a died-in-the-wool racist in the White House, that isn't what happens. Instead, you let them skate by having the Department of Justice drop all charges against them. But weren't they already convicted? Sure, but in a country no longer burdened by a Constitution and with an imperial presidency firmly in place, that's a minor detail. In case you hadn't noticed, our current crop of U.S. rulers do whatever they damn well please – no permission needed from Congress, thank you.

The incurious, inglorious true believers ~ By Joseph Farah

Joseph is right. It should be a concern to the mainstream press that Obama does not want anyone to see his actual long-form birth certificate. Why would that be? What is he hiding?

And the ones that I am concerned with that are amongst the press that ridicule the "birthers" are Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly. They are both very intelligent men. And I've spoken with some people that are now "FORMER" Beck fans, because of his stance on the issue. I don't really understand why either Beck or O'Reilly wouldn't be supporting Farah on this issue. I am almost willing to bet that they have received orders from Fox News, possibly even News Corp and Rupert Murdoch, for some very strange reason. I wouldn't really put it past News Corp. to sacrifice their journalist integrity. It wouldn't be the first time, as Joseph Farah pointed out in a recent column.

Or, maybe O'Reilly and Beck saw what happened to Lou Dobbs at CNN. Just sayin'...
I would think, at this point, all reasonable people could agree on one thing: Obama is hiding something. Usually, when politicians hide something, there's a reason. Usually that's a concern for a vigilant press and a vigilant public.

I would suggest to you that the "incurious, inglorious true believers," not the so-called "birthers," are the ones worthy of scorn, contempt and caricature.

They call me a "birther."

Why?

Because I'm one of about 150 million Americans who would like to see Barack Obama's actual, long-form birth certificate as the first step toward determining if he is constitutionally eligible to serve as president.

I know. It seems nutty to Bill O'Reilly and Anderson Cooper and Glenn Beck and Rachel Maddow.

I really don't care what they think – or if they think.

As a matter of fact, I don't care what anyone thinks about Obama's eligibility, because midway through his second year in office it should not be a matter of opinion as to whether he is indeed a "natural born citizen" and legally qualified to reside in the White House.

I've always been skeptical about what politicians claim. That used to be a common trait among people of my profession – journalism. However, lately, I find many in the press actually relying on what politicians say to determine what is truth, reality, fact – and admitting it!

Here's a recent example: Chris Cillizza, White House reporter for the Washington Post, offered this in his column last Friday analyzing a recent poll showing significant doubts among the American people about Obama's birth story: "For the record, the proof that Obama was born in Hawaii is indisputable; Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle, a Republican, said as much in a recent interview."

Indisputable?

That interview was first published by my news organization. And I suggest there is no public evidence whatsoever, nothing that would carry the day in a court of law, to prove Obama was born in Hawaii – notwithstanding the self-contradictory statement of the esteemed Linda Lingle.

Lingle admits she has never seen Obama's long-form birth certificate.

Lefties' envy of Sarah Palin ~ By Chrissy Satterfield

This was the first column I've read by Chrissy Satterfield, who is new to WorldNetDaily.com. I was impressed, and believe you will be too. In this piece, she is talking about Cathy Areu (whom I've never heard of!) and what she said in an interview with Bill O'Reilly, that according to MSNBC, wasn't even supposed to happen. Chrissy came to Palin's defense after Areu had done a Palin-bashing spiel in her interview with Bill on "The Factor."
Chew on this: because Palin made $12 million, are we supposed to forget about the life experiences that led her to this success? If anything, we as women should unite and hold her successes in high esteem. It's not every day a former beauty queen turns governor turns author turns Fox News host. I relate to Palin not because of her financial position or where she shops, but because of her upbringing and moral foundation. Palin was born into a middle-class family, not with a silver spoon in her mouth. She is a self-made woman who now earns a heck of a lot more than she used to. Areu should be giving Palin props, not "call her out" because she's not standing in line at Wal-Mart. If Areu is judging a politician's intelligence and class based on whether or not she shops at Wal-Mart, she's more lost than I thought.

Cathy Areu: media entrepreneur, author, speaker, journalist and apparently sponsored by Wal-Mart. Last week on Bill O'Reilly's "The Factor," Ms. Areu, publisher of Catalina Magazine, threw one heck of a hissy fit. O'Reilly invited her to defend comments she made about former Alaskan Gov. Sarah Palin. Areu said, "Sarah Palin can do no wrong for so many people. I mean, she is the female Larry the Cable Guy minus the class and intelligence." Take a second to let that marinate. With a comment like that, Areu's class and intelligence should be questioned.

First, MSNBC reported that Areu declined the interview with the no-spin-zone commentator, saying, "Areu said thanks but no thanks to Fox. Saying she wanted to appear right here on MSNBC. We don't blame her." Joke's on you, Peter Alexander, because there she was April 16 with her arms in the air hating on someone who has done some pretty courageous things. But enough free advertising for the elitist media.

I should warn you, the following message is brought to you in part by Wal-Mart. Areu told O'Reilly: "[Palin] made $12 million since July. She's not watching her pennies anymore. She's not waiting in the Wal-Mart line like I am. She's eating caviar and drinking champagne." Throughout the entire segment Areu referenced Wal-Mart so many times, I swear even they wanted her to shut up. I'm sorry, I didn't know class and intelligence were essential to shopping at Wal-Mart – tell that to the unruly "welfare check" that runs over my foot every time I step out of the aisle and then doesn't apologize! Bonus, no one wants to wait in line with Areu anyway. She's probably the woman with 60 items in the self-check-out lane who forgot her wallet in the car.

Areu's argument rests on Palin's paycheck rather than her character. Sounds like Areu is pretty shallow and resentful. She says Palin is not relatable because she makes so much money, and that instead of being the "Sarah Sixpack" she portrays, in reality Palin is a "diva." It's Areu who isn't relatable, because 1) no one knows who she is, and 2) no one knows who she is! She's crying foul because no one has heard of her and she wants to get a little face time. Well sorry, Areu, the only face time I can offer is this column, and I don't think you're going to like it.

I need to shoot the elephant in the room by addressing what some have yet to say out loud. If Palin were a man, no one would care about how much money he made. Look at O'Reilly. He came from humble beginnings and has made a shipload of money, yet claims to be "a simple man." Why didn't Areu call him out? The fact that Palin is a double-X chromosome means she's under a microscope when it comes to being a wealthy powerful woman. On top of that, she's a Republican, so the spotlight is on her everywhere she goes. Areu is concerned that Palin's personality doesn't match her bank account. I'm concerned that Areu's personality doesn't match her accomplishments. How has this woman made it so far with the intellect of a liberal lab rat?

Obama's born-in-USA mandate ~ By Joseph Farah

In Joseph's column, he has a good point that when the New York Times/CBS News Poll asks about Obama's eligibility, their wording of the question is to ask if the respondent THINKS Obama was born in the USA or in another country. They should have asked if the respondent is SURE about where Obama was born. The problem is, who could really be sure - besides Bill O'Reilly, Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann - without seeing the long form birth certificate?

After reading Farah's column, I was looking at the actual poll results from the New York Times/CBS News Poll: National Survey of Tea Party Supporters, and I found this:

"Tea party supporters are wealthier and more well-educated than the general public, tend to be Republican, white, male, and married, and their strong opposition to the Obama administration is more rooted in political ideology than anxiety about their personal economic well-being, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll."
What I found interesting was that the question Farah was responding to on page 24, Question #50, 41 percent of the Tea Party respondents thought that Obama was born in the U.S. as compared to the 58 percent of all respondents. So, in other words, Obama was wrong when he said that many of the tea partiers were out on the "fringe." It means that out of that bunch of "wealthier and more educated than the general population" people, there were still 41 percent that believed Obama is eligible to be President.  I don't call that a fringe group.

March 30, 2010 - Obama: Tea Party Divided Between Fringe And Those With 'Legitimate Concerns'

Video provided by tpmtv

Okay, enough of what I was expounding on. Let's finally see what Joseph Farah has to say.

I've been saying since last summer that half the country has grave doubts about Obama – not just about the birth certificate, but about who he truly is. They are wondering why he is hiding his birth certificate, why he is hiding his school records, why he is hiding his college records, why he is hiding his travel records, why he is hiding his medical records.

And, most of all, I suspect, they are getting very suspicious about why the so-called "watchdogs" in the press show curiosity and concern only about those who ask the president to stop stonewalling and start living up to his pledge to run the most open and transparent administration in history.

You had to search deep down in the 40-some pages of responses to find it. It was nowhere to be found in the reporting on the poll.

This was a non-story for the New York Times and CBS and every other news organization that looked at the results.

After more than two years of virtual media blackout on any of the serious unanswered questions about Obama's inability or unwillingness to prove his constitutional eligibility for office, a resounding 58 percent of Americans think he was born in the USA.

I repeat: They think he was born in the USA.

Of course, that 58 percent includes the combined staffs of the New York Times, CBS News, Fox News, CNN (since the departure of Lou Dobbs), MSNBC, the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, the Associated Press and all those permitted to attend the White House Correspondents Association Dinner this year. Given the number of times Bill O'Reilly has refuted the possibility that anyone could have any legitimate concern about Obama's eligibility, I'm guessing he voted five or six times in this poll.

After all of the unequivocal denouncements and ridicule of "birthers" and the absolute refusal even to entertain a serious discussion of this issue, only 58 percent of Americans polled by CBS and the New York Times think he was born in America. I wonder how many would have replied they are certain. I'm pretty sure O'Reilly and Glenn Beck would still be out on that limb along with Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann. But the air of certainty is a lot thinner than thinking he was born in the U.S.

And certainty, of course, is what all Americans should have at this late date when it comes to the constitutional eligibility of their president. It shouldn't be a matter of guessing. It shouldn't be a matter of opinion. It should be a matter determined by absolute proof.

By the way, fully 20 percent of Americans polled said they believe Obama was born in another country. Now, I have to tell you, as one of those characterized as a leader of the "birther" movement, I would not have answered that way. I would have answered the way another 23 percent of Americans did – I don't know.
