Time 2 Escape Daily for Wednesday, Dec 28, 2011

A decision was finally made after months of thoughtful consideration. Of the various options available to me, I believe that I will be making the changes needed to accomplish the main goal of providing a resource of value to you, the reader.

You will no longer see the individual columns that I was commenting on. Because my time has been more limited these days, it was getting overwhelming to get very many blogs posted. As you can see, my monthly productivity began to plummet in this month of December 2012. Hopefully, my new plan will be a way to again produce more posts that will help to keep you informed.

You will see three sections in each new post, and each will contain the links to stories and commentaries that I know you will be interested in.

Since today is the first time I've made this effort, it may mean that additional adjustments to this new endeavor will be made down the road. But the biggest adjustment will be to my attitude about "change." Admittedly, there are times when I tend to shun much variation to the way things are done.

Gone will be my ability to see the reaction to various columns that I have posted about. It was the realization, though, that made me think that wasn't information that affects what you will gain from the new format. The historical information I have at my fingertips, however, will help me to determine which stories and columns to include that will keep you coming back for more.

Change can be good. We'll find out soon if this is the change you really wanted to see. It might just be better than the "change" you've seen in the last three years under Obama.

Want to let the president know what you think of his million dollar Hawaiian vacation? Now you can

As anyone who follows the Drudge Report, Hotair (or “Hot Gas” if you’re Gov. Rick Perry), or The Blaze knows, President Obama’s Hawaiian vacation will cost the American taxpayer quite a chunk of change.

Understandably, some Americans are bothered by the his decision to take such a costly vacation during these economically unstable times.

Perhaps because this irritation is so sharply felt, people are finding new and different ways to vent their frustration. One such outlet is a website called Wasted in Hawaii: President Obama’s Hawaiian Binge. The website includes information on the cost of president‘s trip as well as an interactive tool that allows users to send messages to the president’s @BarackObama Twitter handle.

Guess what prompted Obama to release birth certificate!

But the timing raised questions from the Post.

"Why, for example, did Obama officials wait so long to tamp down rumors that have dogged the president since the 2008 presidential campaign? Why did they release the forms on the very day that Trump is making his first visit to New Hampshire, and during a week when Obama is slated to make other major announcements about his national security team?" the newspaper wrote.

While the White House denied any connection, the sequence reveals that following weeks of discussions by Trump, on April 20 "Where's the Birth Certificate? The Case That Barack Obama Is Not Eligible to Be President" skyrocketed to the No. 1 spot among all books on Amazon.com, the next day Corley was authorized to find the document and on April 22 Obama signed a letter to state officials making the formal request for help.

Dan Pfeiffer, White House communications director, said the administration considered the issue closed.

First, it was The Donald (Donald Trump) that started getting media attention by requesting the President to show his long-form birth certificate. That went on for just about a month, and the President did nothing. The Donald has now been claiming that he is responsible for getting the President to do something, like showing the birth certificate. REALLY?  NO! I don't think so!

I think this story at WND.com is much more accurate than Donald Trump's pumped up ego trying to take the credit. Since Donald was on "The View," it had been around a month. But, when the Drudge Report mentioned the book, "Where's the Birth Certificate? The Case That Barack Obama Is Not Eligible to Be President," and it went to #1 of ALL books at Amazon, in less than a week later, Barack Obama is releasing that long-lost long-form birth certificate from the State of Hawaii (you know, the one that even Hawaii's Gov. Neal Abercrombie couldn't locate). I'm just sayin'...

Guess what prompted Obama to release birth certificate!
Request to Hawaii came day after Corsi book hit No. 1

WASHINGTON – Barack Obama finally has released his long-form birth certificate from Hawaii, and a Washington Post report today explains how the decision came about because of the president's distress that questions about his eligibility were dominating news cycles and his important messages were getting no traction.

So it happened on April 21, White House Counsel Robert Bauer told Anne Kornblut at the Post, that he asked Obama's outside counsel, Judy Corley of Perkins Coie, to contact the Hawaii Department of Health to find out what would be needed to get the copies of the birth certificate.

That, of course, was less than a full day after the definitive book on presidential eligibility, "Where's the Birth Certificate? The Case That Barack Obama Is Not Eligible to Be President," was featured on the Drudge Report and rocketed to No. 1 on Amazon – weeks before it even is due to the published.

The in-depth investigation of Obama is by two-time No. 1 New York Times best-selling author Jerome Corsi, and the Drudge Report declared, "The street date is a LONG month away, and author Jerome Corsi, the man who torpedoed John Kerry's presidential dreams with SWIFT BOAT, has gone underground and is holding his new findings this close."

Drudge wondered then whether the president's attorneys will "attempt to interfere with the book's distribution?" and whether the book will "finally – once and for all – put an end to the growing controversy?"

The Post reported the president's concerns had been raised when he was interviewed by ABC's George Stephanopoulos – and he expected a discussion of financial issues.

Instead, he was peppered with questions about his eligibility controversy – an issue that possible 2012 GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump had elevated from being a topic of strong interest across America to the mainstream issue of the 2012 race.

Trump had consulted repeatedly with researchers assembled by WND to investigate the Obama eligibility issue in his campaign.

The Post reported that suddenly there was a "growing sense within the White House that the mainstream media was perpetuating a dangerous myth."

Obama, described by the Post as "incredulous," was warned that the questions might even rise to confront him. So it was on April 19, the newspaper said, Obama asked about getting a copy of his form.

"'It wasn't one specific thing' that tipped the scales, a senior administration official said. But Trump was a major factor, by the White House's own admission, as the real estate mogul's near-constant interviews extended a discussion that the president found 'frivolous,'" the newspaper said.

Suddenly, Obama was the driving force behind getting the documentation.

A few thoughts from a 'birther' ~ By Craige McMillan

Finally, the long-form birth certificate does nothing to quell the natural-born-citizen issue, which our Founding Fathers found important enough to write into the Constitution. If the reports of the senior Obama's British citizenship are true, Obama would not be natural-born – and would be unable to legally hold the office of president. That will be a more esoteric, but none the less important, argument. Most of the population, however, does not likely care.  [emphasis my own]

I am really ticked this morning! Grrrr! No, I'm not upset with Craige McMillan. In fact, I loved Craige's column! He had a great way of writing a few of the things I was thinking, particularly in the paragraph in the excerpt above.

I had just read and posted another column here on this blog this morning that says it all. In "Obama challengers: Doc proves president ineligible," it was thoroughly explained why the President's long-form birth certificate (called a Certificate of Live Birth in Hawaii) may end up providing the proof that Barack Obama is not constitutionally eligible to be President of the United States. It may all come down to what "natural-born citizen" means.

Then what has me so agitated? Is it the fact that all day yesterday, and especially this morning, I kept hearing news readers on radio and TV exclaiming what a relief it was that Obama's citizenship is now proven? Here is a summary of the kind of things that I heard: He was born in Hawaii. No question now. The story is over. There's nothing to see here. We need to move on now so that we don't distract the President (from his golf games) with this silliness... yaddi yaddi yadda... But everyone of those so-called "journalists" neglected to mention that many constitutional scholars believe that a "natural-born citizen," as the Founders intended it to mean, required that BOTH parents were U.S. citizens. Oops!

Craige obviously hits the nail on the head when he writes, "Most of the population, however, does not likely care." This is what happens when the citizens are being indoctrinated to ignore the intricacies of the Constitution of the United States.

I have one last portion of my rant that I hate to even mention, but I must. On Glenn Beck's radio program this morning, Glenn, Pat and Stu were ridiculing all of the various conspiracy theories regarding the Obama birth certificate. But never did they mention that in the minds of some, there is still that question of Obama's Constitutional eligibility; not because of the birth certificate itself, but because of that pesky "natural-born citizen" clause in Article II, Section 1. The intent of the Founders which Glenn and his staff have always paid great attention to in the past was completely avoided in this case. I just can not explain that kind of indifference - or negligence - on the part of somebody like Glenn Beck who normally pays so much attention to details. It has unleashed my deepest concerns of a vast conspiracy. I don't have any other way to explain it.  I'm just sayin'...

The release yesterday of Mr. Obama's long-form birth certificate is a welcome development for America. I think, however, that a few cautions are in order before we put the "birther" issue to bed.

First, I believe this shows that Donald Trump was correct in his strategic assessment that Obama had planned to use the birth certificate issue as a distraction during the 2012 election campaign. Trump's efforts have denied him that ability.

Second, Trump has shown that even an issue that socialist big-media have delivered last rites over can be dug up and resurrected from the old ink-drum burial ground and brought to the forefront of public opinion by a prominent individual. This is a real slap in the face to the GOP establishment in our nation's capital. It shows that the tea party must continue to bring challengers forward during the primaries to remove the fossilized deadwood in the GOP.

Third, I think that, given the level of deceit shown by Mr. Obama to date, the physical birth certificate needs to be inspected by a panel of forensic document experts who visit it in its Hawaiian archive home. I would suggest that this be done on a live television broadcast, without edits. I say this only because Mr. Obama has had two years to use some of the best document forgers in the world (if our intelligence agencies still hold that distinction) to produce a long-form birth certificate. Yet he will still have found it difficult to alter the physical record that exists in Hawaii's archives.

Why Hawaii now wants to sell 'birth certificate'

"So if there's 1 million people on the mainland asking for his birth certificate, send over a $100 check or money order, and we'll send you over something certifying that he was born in Hawaii," Mizuno said. "That's 1 million people – that's $100 million to the state."

      Nor did Mizuno stop there.

"The president of the United States, the No. 1 person in our country, from Hawaii – we need to capitalize," he continued. "If we don't take advantage of it, we're out of our minds. This is a golden opportunity."

WARNING: The above excerpt from this story may cause your heart to stop. (Oops, too late.)

      PITCH-MAN BILLY MAYS
Wow! How soon will it be before there are TV infomercials to advertise this fake and fraudulent product? That's right, you'll see it here: Government-sponsored fraud to make money off of covering up the fraud who sits in the oval office. Oh, how ironic! Those same people make laws to put people in jail for perpetrating much less of a scam.

Gee, if only Billy Mays was still alive! But WAIT! If Barack Hussein Obama could sell his "Hope and Change" so well back in 2008, maybe he could do the TV ads for the completely authentic fake birth certificates! In fact, we know he can read a teleprompter, and he is going to be needing a job in a couple years, so this would be the perfect gig for him!

I can HEAR it now (with the TV volume suddenly going way up):
For just 100 dollars, YOU can get this piece of history manufactured, not in China, or even Kenya, but directly from Hawaii, our 57th State (Obama must have written that part)! But wait! If you act now, we'll include a frame, made with wood from the furniture that used to be in the oval office! But we're not done yet! For just the cost of additional handling, processing and shipping, we'll include a DVD with all of the clips of our friendly state-controlled mainstream media news folks ridiculing the "birthers"! Act now! This could be a limited-time offer if Gov. Abercrombie finally finds the real birth certificate!  It's hope and change on a authentic state-sealed fake document that you can show - or redistribute! - to all of your Democrat friends!
Seriously, folks, except for the above script for the TV infomercial, you can't make this stuff up! Just sayin'...

Why Hawaii now wants to sell 'birth certificate'
State plans to create new document in bid to raise money for state coffers

Despite national press reports to the contrary, the Hawaii state legislature has no intention of releasing Barack Obama's long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate – not even for $100.

By introducing HB1116 into the Hawaii legislature last week, five Democrats are giving the impression they are willing to make Obama's long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate available to the public for a fee.

Instead, the plan is for the state of Hawaii to create a completely new document that will be carefully designed to carry the seal of the state of Hawaii without ever having to certify details of parentage and birthplace.

Hawaii's Revised Statute HRS338 restricts making public birth certificate and other vital records only to those who have a "direct and tangible interest," namely the person applying for the certified birth certificate copy, a member of the immediate family, or others with a legal interest such as an adoptive parent or a legal guardian.

Now, the language of HB1116 attempts to skirt these restrictions by modifying Hawaii law such that for a fee of $100, the Hawaii Department of Health will release "a copy of a birth record" for those HB1116 defines as "persons of prominence."

The tip-off that the proposed legislation intends to withhold from public disclosure Obama's long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate, if such a document exists, came in an interview with Democratic Rep. John Mizuno, one of the Democratic co-sponsors of the measure.

"If the people are so concerned about Barack Obama and if he was actually born in Hawaii, born in the United States, let them pay a fee of 100 bucks," Mizuno told KHON2. "We can certainly use the money, and we don't need to hear their complaining anymore."

Hawaii governor can't find Obama birth certificate ~ By Jerome Corsi

      BARRY OBAMA WITH
      HIS MOTHER, ANN DUNHAM
Abercrombie did not report to the newspaper that he or the Hawaii Department of Health had found Obama's long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate. The governor only suggested his investigations to date had identified an unspecified listing or notation of Obama's birth that someone had made in the state archives.

"It was actually written, I am told, this is what our investigation is showing, it actually exists in the archives, written down," Abercrombie said.

For seemingly the first time, Abercrombie frankly acknowledged that presidential politics motivated his search for Obama birth records, implying that failure to resolve the questions that remain unanswered about the president's birth and early life may damage his chance for re-election.

"If there is a political agenda (regarding Obama's birth certificate), then there is nothing I can do about that, nor can the president," he said.

This story by Jerome Corsi got the ball rolling late this week, and even the lame-stream media is now talking about it. As I stated in my previous post, on his Friday show, "even Rush Limbaugh spent a considerable amount of time discussing this situation."  Has Governor Neil Abercrombie (D-HI) opened a can of worms trying to help his pal, Barack Obama? Talking about good intentions with unintended consequences!

Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie suggested in an interview published today that a long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate for Barack Obama may not exist within the vital records maintained by the Hawaii Department of Health.

      GOV. NEIL ABERCROMBIE
Abercrombie told the Honolulu Star Advertiser he was searching within the Hawaii Department of Health to find definitive vital records that would prove Obama was born in Hawaii, because the continuing eligibility controversy could hurt the president's chances of re-election in 2012.

Donalyn Dela Cruz, Abercrombie's spokeswoman in Honolulu, ignored again today another in a series of repeated requests made by WND for an interview with the governor.

Toward the end of the interview, the newspaper asked Abercrombie: "You stirred up quite a controversy with your comments regarding birthers and your plan to release more information regarding President Barack Obama's birth certificate. How is that coming?"

In his response, Abercrombie acknowledged the birth certificate issue will have "political implications" for the next presidential election "that we simply cannot have."

Suggesting he was still intent on producing more birth records on Obama from the Hawaii Department of Health vital records vault, Abercrombie told the newspaper there was a recording of the Obama birth in the state archives that he wants to make public.

Old media now asking where is birth certificate

Across the Atlantic, the Daily Mail of London adopted the storyline reported first by WND and followed by ABC News.

The London paper's headline said: "Hawaii governor claims record of Obama's birth 'exists in archives' but can't produce the vital document."

"Pressure was mounting on Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie today amid increasing confusion over whether President Obama was born there," the paper reported.

The Daily Mail pointed out that while Abercrombie stated evidence of Obama's birth "actually exists in the archives, written down," it nevertheless "became apparent that what had been discovered was an unspecified listing or notation of Obama's birth that someone had made in the state archives and not a birth certificate."
Is the mainstream media finally getting a clue that there is a story regarding Obama's birth certificate? On his Friday show, even Rush Limbaugh spent a considerable amount of time discussing this situation. It is potentially a major story that even the lame-stream media will be forced to cover.

      GOV. NEIL ABERCROMBIE (D-HI)
An interview with newly elected Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie that addressed Barack Obama's presidential eligibility has prompted two opposing interpretations by legacy media – one insisting the governor has resolved the issue and the other concluding he effectively has admitted he can't find the long-form birth certificate that would help put the controversy to rest.

The New York Daily News apparently found the interview published Tuesday by the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reason to declare final victory over "conspiracy theorists," but ABC News featured a story on its website pointing out Abercrombie has not delivered the promised proof.

After WND's report of the interview Wednesday – emphasizing Abercrombie tacitly has admitted an investigation he first mentioned in December has failed to produce a birth certificate – the New York Daily News declared in its headline, "Record of President Obama's birth in 1961 is 'in the archives': Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie."

The Daily News lead paragraph stated: "Officials in Hawaii have tracked down papers indicating that President Obama was indeed born in their state, according to its new governor."

But the New York paper acknowledged that Abercrombie has not yet presented the proof to the public, stating "he again promised he would do 'what I can do' to publicly verify that records show Obama was born in Hawaii and is a citizen of the United States, making him eligible to be President."

The ABC News report, meanwhile, noted, "Despite his assurance to end the controversy, the governor has yet to present the document."

We're making progress on birth certificate ~ By Joseph Farah

I tell you, it's not just Obama who is going to pay a price in history for this scandal. All those who aided and abetted him in the media are going down, too.

Now that this story shows no signs of going away, I think they're beginning to realize what they missed.
The media spin about Barack Obama's birth certificate and proof of eligibility and the attacks on the "birthers" is starting to slip. Joseph Farah tells us that some of the media elitists are beginning to at least want Obama to release that actual birth certificate supposedly kept in the archives in Hawaii.

Have you noticed how much better informed the major news media have become about the missing birth certificate since Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie entered the picture?

It wasn't that long ago that most of the TV talking heads and alleged news reporters were telling the American people that Barack Obama had released his birth certificate. They seemed incapable of comprehending the difference between the digital short-form certification of live birth offered up by the Obama campaign in 2008 and a standard, long-form birth certificate we're all familiar with.

How many of you recall Bill O'Reilly and Chris Matthews waiving copies of the certification of live birth in front of the camera, telling the American people they had the actual birth certificate?

How many times do you recall them viciously attacking those who persisted in demanding the absolute minimal documentation needed to ensure Obama was indeed constitutionally eligible to serve as president – without ever giving any of those conscientious, principled, rational advocates of the rule of law and openness in government the opportunity to answer their ad hominem insults?

How many times have you heard them characterize "birthers" as a fringe group of crackpots and conspiracy nuts?

Now, all of a sudden, as polls continue to show Americans increasingly skeptical about Obama's birth narrative despite the media's stonewalling and obfuscating, along comes the new socialist governor of Hawaii who admits the possibility that the release of some actual evidence might indeed quell what is turning into widespread public distrust of both the government and what Rush Limbaugh astutely calls "the state-sponsored media."

He says he would like to release the birth certificate – though I doubt he ever will.

But that leaves O'Reilly, Matthews and the rest of the Big Media in a dilemma. After all, they have been pretending for years that the birth certificate has already been released.

It didn't take Matthews long to do a 180.

Hey, if the Democratic governor of Hawaii wants the birth certificate released, then he's for it, too. He even bullied two certifiably leftist pundits on his panel to capitulate to his demand as well.

O'Reilly is sure to follow suit if he hasn't already.

Looks like the birth certificate issue is reaching critical mass.

Republican Djou wins special election for Congress in Hawaii

More great news for Republicans, this time from Hawaii! This is a huge victory. I was alerted to this story in a tweet from Matt Drudge. Judging by the sub-headline, "Hanabusa leads Case with nearly all the votes counted," it is apparent that the big race was between two Democrats as far as the newspaper was concerned. Which is okay, because it split the Democrat vote enough for Djou, the Republican, to win.
The race was on the radar of the national parties and political pundits, but many expected the seat to remain Democratic in a district that supported Obama by 72 percent.

Sensibilities changed in January after Republican Scott Brown flipped the seat formerly belonging to Democrat Ted Kennedy in Massachusetts.

Suddenly, national eyes were on Hawaii as the GOP went looking for the "next Scott Brown," and a chance to score an upset on Obama's home turf heading into the fall midterm elections.
Hanabusa leads Case with nearly all the votes counted

Republican Charles Djou emerged victorious tonight in the special election to fill Hawaii's vacancy in Congress, giving Hawaii it's first GOP member of Congress in 20 years.

Djou won the special mail-in election with 39.5 percent of the vote in the first printout, released at 6 p.m.

The first printout represented nearly all of the 170,312 returned by voters in the district, which stretches from Waikiki and downtown to Mililani.

Democrat Colleen Hanabusa was second at 30.8 percent, with Democrat Ed Case third at 27.6 percent.

“This is a momentous day,” Djou told a jubilant crowd at state party headquarters. “We have sent a message to the United States Congress. We have sent a message to the ex-governors. We have sent a message to the national Democrats! We have sent a message to the machine.

“We have told them that we will not stand idly by as our great nation is overburdened by too much taxes, too much debt and too much wasteful spending.”

Djou is Hawaii's first GOP member of Congress since Pat Saiki, who represented the party from 1987 to 1991.

Eleven other candidates combined to receive 2.1 percent of the vote.

Former U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie announced in December plans to resign his seat to concentrate solely on his campaign for governor, setting off a special election campaign unlike any in state history.

By the time he formally resigned Feb. 28, the field of three main contenders had formed and the Office of Elections -- after openly considering whether to postpone the vote until the September primary to save money -- settled on a mail-in process at the cost of about $1 million.

A Star-Bulletin/KITV poll in January gave Case, the former 2nd District congressman, the edge on name recognition and favorability, followed by Hanabusa, the state Senate president, and then Djou, a City Councilman.

More birth-certificate mumbo jumbo ~ By Joseph Farah

Great column, Joseph! When you wrote, "the governor of Hawaii says there are so many more important issues to deal with," I had to laugh out loud. That is really crazy! How insane is that governor? You're killing me! Having a President that is Constitutionally eligible is a pretty important issue, Governor Lingle! Ya think?! Or, how about, "Hawaii recently changed its laws to deny the public answers about this issue." I think that fits pretty well with my theory.

And what's my theory? I think I finally figured out why Hawaii would be a willing accomplice, and to blatantly lie - if that's the case - about having Obama's birth certificate. What State wouldn't want to be known for being the birth place of the President, especially Obama, the first black President? Any President's birth place brings tourists. Here in Iowa, the birth place of Herbert Hoover in West Branch is a tourist attraction, and he was one of the WORST presidents of the 20th Century!

Hawaii just wants their place in history. Frankly, if I were them, I wouldn't want to admit (even if it was true) that Obama was born there! Just sayin'...
Hawaii recently changed its laws to deny the public answers about this issue. If the goal was to address the public concerns, a more sensible change in the law would have been to require more openness about vital records of public officials.

Openness would assure the public. Secrecy makes us more suspicious.

Has any birth certificate in the history of the world been discussed and debated more than Barack Obama's?

      I don't think so.

Yet, nearly every time it is discussed or debated, the public becomes more confused, mystified, curious and certain they are being deliberately deceived.

The latest entry into this circus is Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle. You would think the governor of Hawaii would be an expert on the subject of Barack Obama's birth certificate by now. But her public comments suggest she is either abjectly ignorant or an active component of a disinformation campaign.

Lingle told a New York talk show Obama was born at Kapi'olani Hospital in Honolulu. But she offered no evidence to back it up and has also claimed she has never seen the document.

She claims her office issued a press release stating the birth hospital during the 2008 campaign. But no such release was ever published, and this is the first time any government official has claimed Kapi'olani as the birth hospital.

The birth certificate has been withheld from the public ostensibly by Hawaiian officials who claim releasing information about Obama's birth would be a violation of the state's laws. Yet, Lingle herself just apparently violated that law by releasing information she claims is in that secret document.

But perhaps most remarkable about Lingle's cavalier, dismissive public statement is the fact that even Kapi'olani Hospital has been unwilling to make the unequivocal assertion it is the birthplace of Barack Obama. WND has recounted in detail Kapi'olani's attempts to have its cake and it eat, too: Using Obama's name to raise funds for the facility, but refusing to confirm or deny that he was actually born there.

In other words, it's more mumbo jumbo from another Hawaii official.

The trouble with all this is that we live in a nation supposedly governed by the rule of law and the will of the people.

The law is very precise regarding the eligibility of the president of the United States. It leaves little doubt that every American is entitled to know with 100 percent assurance whether the occupant of the White House is a natural born citizen. It shouldn't be a matter of opinion. It shouldn't be a matter of imprecise testimonial from a faceless bureaucrat in Hawaii. It shouldn't be a matter of a questionable digital document posted on the Internet. It should be a matter of established fact.

That's certainly not the case with Barack Obama's nativity story.

      The story itself keeps changing.

The ground rules for keeping the birth certificate secret keep changing.

Now we're supposed to forget about this little constitutional requirement because the governor of Hawaii says there are so many more important issues to deal with.

May I remind everyone that Hawaii's history of negligence and malfeasance in keeping birth records is at the very root of the nation's suspicions?

Disturbed by Beck, O'Reilly and Breitbart ~ By Floyd and Mary Beth Brown

      Commentary from WorldNetDaily

On the issue of constitutional eligibility, we are embarrassed that these smart men, whom we admire, are either unwilling or too arrogant to look closely at these serious issues. Instead they attack others for having the audacity to ask questions – questions they normally would ask if they had their facts correct.

We are big fans of Glenn Beck on Fox News; we DVR his show every day. We have been following the career of Andrew Breitbart since his news website began being linked by Matt Drudge years ago. Bill O'Reilly is an institution on Fox News, and we both have appeared on "The Factor." We appreciate the frank and lively discussions that usually grace his show.

We don't say this lightly, because we can assure you, we will pay a price for our willingness to be bold. Sometimes the conservative movement can be almost Stalinist in attempts to keep us all on the same script, but we are personally embarrassed by the outright factual errors made by these men when discussing Obama's eligibility to be president.

First, they seem unwilling to ask their questions in the context of time and place. Hawaii was a much different place in 1961. For starters, over 40 percent of the births in Hawaii that year took place at home. Hawaii only recently had become a state, and many of the rules we might follow in the USA
      circa 2010 were nonexistent.

For example, to register the birth of a child all the parents had to do was send a simple form to the Department of Health. In a comprehensive report on the topic available at WesternJournalism.com, the investigator concludes: "In 1961, if a person was born in Hawaii but not attended by a physician or midwife, then all that was required was that one of the parents send in a birth certificate to be filed. The birth certificate could be filed by mail. There appears to have been no requirement for the parent to actually physically appear before 'the local registrar of the district.' It would have been very easy for a relative to forge an absent parent's signature to a form and mail it in."

Bill O'Reilly constantly points to announcements in the local newspapers as proof of birth in Hawaii. But as the inquisitive Bob Unruh at WorldNetDaily has reported, these announcements were automatically generated by the Department of Health. Ergo a forged, mailed certificate would automatically have generated the O'Reilly-sited announcements.

Also routinely quoted to debunk eligibility questions are the comments of Dr. Chiyome Fukino, the Director of the Hawaii Department of Health, released on Oct. 31, 2008. WesternJournalism.com reports: "The television and print media used this statement as a reason to prevent and treat with contempt any investigation into whether Barack Obama was not born in Hawaii. But the language of the statement was so carefully hedged and guarded that it should have had the opposite effect."

Here is the actual statement Dr Fukino made: "There have been numerous requests for Sen. Barack Hussein Obama's official birth certificate. State law (Hawai'i Revised Statutes §338-18) prohibits the release of a certified birth certificate to persons who do not have a tangible interest in the vital record. Therefore, I as director of health for the state of Hawai'i, along with the registrar of vital statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these type of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawai'i State Department of Health has Sen. Obama's original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures."

      New poll shows birthers growing

Majority of GOP, Southerners question president's birthplace Posted: August 01, 2009 - 12:40 am Eastern By Drew Zahn © 2009 WorldNetDaily In a recent telephone poll conducted by Research 2000 for the website Daily Kos, 58 percent of Republican respondents when asked if Barack Obama was born in the USA answered "no" or "not sure." The Daily Kos, which calls itself "the largest progressive community blog in the United States," nonetheless found a reported 527 Republicans and 601 independents to accompany its 743 Democrats in answering the question. Among Republicans, 28 percent answered they believe Obama was born outside the U.S., while 30 percent answered "not sure." Among independents, 83 percent affirmed their belief that the president was born in the U.S., while an overwhelming 93 percent of Democrats insisted it is so. While the disparity between Republicans and Democrats is massive, the poll also demonstrated that where respondents live also makes a significant difference. According to the website's fine print, "A total of 2,400 adults nationally were interviewed by telephone. A cross-section of calls was made into each state in the country in order to reflect the adult population nationally." Of those respondents living in the West, Midwest and Northeast, 87, 90 and 93 percent, respectively, affirmed they believe Obama was born in the U.S. In the South, however – a region defined to include the states of Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas – fewer than half have accepted the president's claimed birth in the U.S. Only 47 percent of the South's respondents answered the question "yes," while 23 percent answered they believed Obama was born on foreign soil, while 30 percent were unsure of his birthplace. Robert Schlesinger, author of the Thomas Jefferson Street blog on the U.S. News & World Report website, commented on the regional disparity: "Dixie may once have been the so-called land of cotton," Schlesinger writes, "but it has become the cradle of creeping Birtherism." With all categories and regions combined, the Daily Kos reported 77 percent believe Obama was born in the U.S., while 12 percent were unsure. The website then offered the following commentary on the remaining 11 percent of respondents, who answered they believe Obama was born abroad: "11 percent of Americans are Obama-hating conspiracy theorists," writes the blog's founder, Markos Moulitsas Zúniga. Schlesinger offered a different summary. "I had assumed that the Birthers were a loud, bemusing hyper-minority in the GOP, so the poll numbers are startling both for the region and for the party," he writes. [CONTINUE READING]

Will Hawaii destroy Obama's birth certificate?

Investigator cites procedural changes that could allow it Posted: July 31, 2009 ~ 12:45 am Eastern By Bob Unruh © 2009 WorldNetDaily The state of Hawaii has made a series of procedural changes that would allow officials to destroy President Obama's original long-form birth certificate, concealing its contents forever. The warning comes in a report by an investigator commissioned by a retired CIA officer. The report was posted online by the Western Center for Journalism, which withheld the name of the officer. "We know from a document posted on June 10, 2009, on the Department of Hawaiian Homelands website that, up until very recently, either the original paper Certificates of Live Birth and/or scanned images of those paper certificates were maintained by the Dept of Health, and copies of them were provided to confirm claims of Hawaiian ancestry," said a newly posted update to the report. "But if in June 2009 the Department of Hawaiian Homelands has decided that it will no longer require the original Certificate of Live Birth as proof for special privileges and the Department of Health spokesman says firmly that they will no longer provide copies of these original certificates, is it possible that, in the midst of the controversy over where Barack Obama was born, the Hawaiian state govt has destroyed the original paper certificate of live birth?" continued the investigator's report. "This seems almost incredible to me, but the authorities have been so deceptive and evasive on this issue, that it cannot be dismissed as impossible," the report concluded. Even such a draconian move probably would not finish questions about Obama's origins, however, since WND has reported that among other documentation not yet available for Obama is his kindergarten records, Punahou school records, Occidental College records, Columbia University records, Columbia thesis, Harvard Law School records, Harvard Law Review articles, scholarly articles from the University of Chicago, passport, medical records, files from his years as an Illinois state senator, Illinois State Bar Association records, any baptism records and his adoption records. WND reported earlier on the fact that while the Hawaii Health Department says it currently only issues a "Certification of Live Birth," the state's Department of Hawaiian Home Lands required an original "Certificate of Live Birth" to qualify for its programs. "This is a more complete record of your birth than the Certification of Live Birth," said the Homelands website. "Submitting the original Certificate of Live Birth will save you time and money since the computer-generated Certification requires additional verification by DHHL." However, at the height of questions over the various documents, the state's DHHL suddenly changed its website reference to allow for the "Certification of Live Birth" as a formal authentication document. The eligibility propaganda blitz ~ By Joseph Farah

By Joseph Farah Posted: July 31, 2009 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 In the last two weeks, we have crossed the Rubicon in the media's coverage of Barack Obama's constitutional eligibility. There's little attempt at reporting by Fox, CNN, AP, New York Times, Los Angeles Times and the rest. My colleagues in the press have ceased even to allude to facts. They are embarked on what appears to be a well-orchestrated propaganda campaign to assert there is no other reasonable position any informed American can hold except that Obama is a "natural born citizen." It is an accepted article of faith. If one doesn't subscribe to it, you are ex-communicated from the profession and polite society. You become, God forbid, a "birther." Blustering Bill O'Reilly, for instance, just insists Fox News investigated this whole matter a year ago and concluded there was nothing to it. O'Reilly doesn't bother to share any facts gleaned in this investigation. We're just supposed to take O'Reilly at his word – just like we were supposed to take CNN President Jon Klein at his word when he told the world Hawaii had destroyed all the original birth certificates, so therefore the story was "dead." Pardon me, but I'm a journalist. You have to show me the facts before I accept them. What are the facts? To listen to the propaganda press, you would believe that certification of live birth settles the matter of where Obama was born. "He's got a birth certificate!" they exclaim. "It's right here. You can see it on the Internet." However, that document proves nothing about where Obama was born. Nothing! Neither do any of the statements offered by Hawaiian officials who claim to have inspected his birth documents. Nor do the newspaper ads published in 1961. Why? Because you could easily secure one of these documents for a foreign birth. One parent could simply fill out a form, saying the birth took place in Hawaii, and the certification was issued – no questions asked. [CONTINUE READING]

Guess how many ways to get Hawaii 'birth certificate'

Some required nothing more than assertion from an adult By Bob Unruh Posted: July 29, 2009 10:57 pm Eastern © 2009 WorldNetDaily An analysis of Hawaii's birth recording requirements around the time of Barack Obama's 1961 birth reveals several ways to generate a "Certificate of Birth," including some that require no documentation other than the assertion of a adult. The word comes in a report by an investigator commissioned by a retired CIA officer. The report was posted online by the Western Center for Journalism, which withheld the officer's name. "In the State of Hawaii, back in 1961, there were four different ways to get an 'original birth certificate' on record," the investigator says, including a report to the Department of Health from an attending physician or midwife. But if the certificate was obtained through any of the other three options, "Obama would have a very good reason not to release the vault birth certificate," the investigator said. "If the original certificate were the standard … type of birth certificate (documented by a physician or midwife), he would have allowed its release and brought the controversy to a quick end," the report said. The investigator said if the birth certificate was obtained by one of the other methods, then it contributes to the overall questions raised about Obama's eligibility. Open letter to Rep. Jay Inslee ~ By Joseph Farah

Joseph FarahBy Joseph Farah Posted: July 17, 2009 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 Dear Rep. Inslee: Recently one of your constituents share a letter he received from you in response to his concerns over Barack Obama's continued evasions to prove he is constitutionally eligible to serve as president. I must say I was surprised and rather disturbed to see you cite my news organization's work as evidence of your belief that Obama has fulfilled his obligations to the Constitution and that you have fulfilled yours. This letter is to serve notice on you that you have been completely misinformed about what my news organization has reported, what it believes and what it has found in investigating this matter aggressively over the last year. You write, in a June 30, 2009, letter to a constituent: "As you may know, President Obama has indeed provided his actual paper Certification of Live Birth to several media organizations, as well as the Annenberg Foundation's non-partisan 'Factcheck.org' website and the conservative news website WorldNetDaily, which reported that a 'WND investigation into Obama's birth certificate utilizing forgery experts also found the document to be authentic.' In fact, all of these groups have recognized that the President's actual birth certificate document is real and genuine." First of all, sir, I'm gravely disappointed in you as a constitutional officer if you would take the word of any news organization or other group on a matter of such grave constitutional sensitivity as the eligibility of the president of the United States. The Congress held hearings to determine the eligibility of Sen. John McCain to serve as president. Why did you deem it appropriate to give a pass to Sen. Obama? Are you not aware that the only living person in the world claiming to be present at his birth swears it took place in Mombasa, Kenya? Are you aware that no U.S. hospital claims his birth? Are you aware that the document you claim as persuasive, which you have never seen with your own eyes, was a Hawaiian document frequently issued for foreign births, requiring no physician signature, no midwife signature, no witness signature and no independent or government validation whatsoever? Yes, it is true that I do not believe that document to be a forgery and WND has reported that. But that "certification of live birth" proves nothing about Obama's eligibility, because it was issued for births that took place outside the country. By the way, a paper copy of this document was never offered to WND, as you insist. We haven't even asked for it because it proves nothing about Obama's eligibility any more than a copy of his driver's license of Social Security card would. Then you go on to tell a bigger whopper! "Furthermore, the director of Hawaii's Department of Health confirmed on Oct. 31, 2008, that, based on a review of the long-form birth records which the state has on file, Obama was born in Honolulu and that he is therefore eligible to hold the office of President," you wrote. Actually, that is a complete misrepresentation of what Dr. Chiyome Fukino said in his press release of that date. [CONTINUE READING]
