Time 2 Escape WIFLI for Wednesday, Feb 8, 2012

It was Glenn Beck that asked the all-important question this morning following Rick Santorum's stunning victories on Tuesday in Colorado, Minnesota, and Missouri: "Why?" Glenn asked his audience if we've heard any of the GOP candidates say why they are running for President as well as Rick Santorum did Tuesday night.

What we are too used to hearing are a bunch of cliches from candidates when they are asked why they are running for President. Well, not with Santorum, who you will see answer that question with this conclusion to his victory speech he made in Missouri Tuesday night:

Video clip source: Fox News Channel

For Rick Santorum, it is about our Honor to uphold what the Founders gave - their Lives, their fortunes, and their honor - the Freedom granted to us by God, and that this generation, and all future generations, must work hard for to maintain.

FNC, Jan. 3: Rick Santorum
When I voted for Rick Santorum back in early January at the Iowa Caucus, I had no idea that he would have a chance. I was only choosing the one I believed the most like I do among the many GOP candidates initiating their campaigns. Somehow, my candidate eventually won the State of Iowa. And then came the next contests: New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida and Nevada. While Santorum was non-existent in those primaries, all the media attention was centered on the war between Romney and Gingrich.

I think the American people finally grew sick of hearing about negative ads and having to actually listen to them. Newt was supposed to be the Conservative alternative to Mitt, even though he sat on a couch with Nancy Pelosi to discuss global warming. The whole thing was a disaster waiting to happen. I know that I was losing interest in who actually won the GOP nomination, if it were to be Gingrich or Romney; they were both dead meat when it comes time to face Obama head on.

And the question I kept asking myself is why all of the pundits were trying to choose between those two pretenders, while out in the wings were Paul and Santorum. Okay, Paul wasn't going to get any endorsements, but why not Santorum? I was greatly disappointed, admittedly, when Herman Cain endorsed Newt Gingrich last week. Of all people, I thought Herman would be courageous enough to go out on a limb, and endorse Rick Santorum, even if it eventually meant nothing. I felt it was a missed opportunity for Herman Cain to move along a candidate that has true Conservative ideals.

So, now what? Will the establishment GOP team up with the mainstream media to try to keep it to Romney or Gingrich, or will they just get the heck out of the way so that the Tea Party Conservatives can get a true alternative to Barack Obama next November for our Republican nominee? Somebody that is going to fight for our freedom?

Rick Santorum sure looks good to me! Wow! He is the one candidate that I believe is the ONLY conservative alternative to Barack Hussein Obama.  I'm just sayin'...

Santorum shakes up GOP race with three-for-three finish
From FoxNews.com ~ Published February 08, 2012

The Republican presidential contest is a two-man race no more.

Rick Santorum proved that the 2012 primary election still has a few surprises left, after he went three for three in Tuesday’s contests and once again shook up the GOP nomination battle.

Santorum, in perhaps the biggest upset of the night, was declared the winner of the Colorado caucuses -- a contest Mitt Romney had been leading in recent polls and won in the 2008 race. The former Pennsylvania senator also won the Minnesota caucuses and the non-binding Missouri GOP primary.

[Editor's note: As of now, when you go to the above story, you can see the Fox News Channel video of Rick Santorum's victory speech in Missouri. I would have embedded that video, since it was much better quality than the youtube video I embedded in the story above, but there was no option to do so at this time. My favorite part of the entire speech can be seen above in my introduction.]

Columnists and Their Commentaries:

A congressman's Agenda 21 ignorance
Exclusive: Henry Lamb sets California lawmaker straight about impact of U.N. policies
From WND Commentary ~ By Henry Lamb ~ Published Feb 3, 2012

HENRY LAMB
California Rep. Wally Herger offered an article on Agenda 21 that, unfortunately, reflects a lack of knowledge about Agenda 21 shared by far too many elected officials. In the first instance, he said that Agenda 21 is a document developed at a U.N. Conference in 1993.

Wrong!

Agenda 21 was developed over a period of time, traceable from the 1972 U.N. Conference on the Environment, which identified “environmental protection” as the world’s greatest problem and gave the world the U.N. Environmental Programme, followed almost immediately by President Nixon’s executive order that created the EPA.

Then came the 1976 U.N. Conference on Human Settlements, signed by the U.S., which proclaimed that “Public control of land use is … indispensable.” The next major step was the creation of the U.N. World Commission on Environment and Development in 1983, chaired by Gro Harlem Brundtland. The commission issued its final report in 1987, called “Our Common Future.” This document produced the concept and defined the term “Sustainable Development” to be: “Development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

Government can't make us happy
John Stossel: It's freedom, not federal programs, that cultivate well-being
From WND Commentary ~ By John Stossel ~ Published Feb 7, 2012

JOHN STOSSEL
In the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson called the pursuit of happiness an unalienable right. This was a radical idea. For most of history, most people didn’t think much about pursuing happiness. They were too busy just trying to survive.

Then came the liberal revolution based on the idea of individual freedom. Only then did they start thinking that happiness might be possible on earth.

Unfortunately, somewhere along the way, the right to pursue happiness has been perverted into a government-backed entitlement to happiness.

Israeli 1st strike: Justified for survival
Exclusive: Barry Farber wants Jewish state to disregard Obama vis-à-vis Iranian threat
WND Commentary ~ By Barry Farber ~ Published Feb 7, 2012

BARRY FARBER
Ahh, the wide world of diplomatic nuance!

During the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Prince Metternich’s aide told him the Russian ambassador had died during the night. After a few thoughtful moments, Metternich said, “I wonder what he meant by that?” From Metternich, now, to Leon Panetta!

Panetta told David Ignatius of the Washington Post that he thinks Israel will attack Iran before this June. The more you know about diplomacy, the more precious diplomatic crystal you can see smashed between here and the horizon. America’s top defense official tells the world that an embattled ally is likely to attack a common enemy within months. I wonder what he meant by that!

This could be a clever pro-Israel maneuver in which Panetta signals to Iran, “Those Israelis are hotheads. And we can’t do anything about it. They’re madmen, and we fear they’re going to attack Iran.” That, according to those who cling to this interpretation, might let Iran know Israeli resolve is real, in hopes of goading them into forgetting their atomic ambitions.

Santorum Pulls GOP Primary Upset Wins
From The Right Perspective ~ By NewsGuy – Posted Feb 8, 2012

Photo taken during the Rick Santorum victory speech Tuesday, Feb 7, 2012
Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum pulled off upset victories in the Minnesota and Colorado caucuses and a nonbinding primary in Missouri on Tuesday, shaking Mitt Romney’s front-runner stance and calling his conservative credentials into question.

The Santorum wins knock former House Speaker Newt Gingrich off as the number two in the race. Santorum has won four elections so far, counting the Iowa caucus that was initially awarded to Romney, while Gingrich has won only the South Carolina primary.

In Colorado, the Denver Post reports the election results as: Santorum – 40.2%; Romney – 34.9%; Gingrich – 12.7%; Paul – 11.7%.

In Minnesota, CNN reports the election results as: Santorum – 45%; Paul – 27%; Romney – 17%; Gingrich – 11%.

In Missouri, STL Today reports the election results as: Santorum – 55%; Romney – 25%; Paul – 12%; Gingrich – not registered.

The Colorado and Minnesota victories come as a severe blow to Romney, as he has won the states’ caucuses in 2008 when running as the conservative alternative to eventual nominee John McCain. The Romney campaign may have expected a strong challenge from Santorum in the Tuesday elections, as CNN reported on Monday that the former Massachusetts governor began to take aim at him instead of Gingrich.

“Conservatism is alive and well in Missouri and Minnesota,” Santorum told supporters in St. Charles, Mo. Tuesday night, before results came in for Colorado. “I don’t stand here to claim to be the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney,” he later said. “I stand here to be the conservative alternative to Barack Obama.”

Debauchery USA ~ By Barry Farber

Once you lose that power of shame it's like society losing its immune system. When a serial liar is pelted with lucrative offers, the outgoing message is terrible. What can one individual do against the elevation of the unworthy? I say, fight in your own weight class. I don't expect you to make Larry Flynt withdraw his offer or make a publisher forget about a Weiner tell-all book. But you can speak up at the office, the dinner party, the bowling alley and embolden those around you who agree but are too timid to take the lead.

You can stick the bony finger of indignation into the cackling face of evil.

At the moment, all we're gaining in America from this sorry episode is the awareness that the secretary of state of the leading nation in the free world has a top assistant whose mother is intertwined with the Muslim Brotherhood.

Don't go wobbly. The little limerick says it all:

God's plan made a hopeful beginning.

Man spoiled it somewhat by sinning.

We trust that the story

Will end in God's glory.

But at present, the other side's winning.

When I was a youngster growing up in the 1950's and 60's, if I deserved it, a good spanking was in order, even at school. Forgetting to wear a belt to school earned a trip to the principle's office, along with the embarrassment that was enhanced by my mom's scowl for having to bring a belt to school for me. Teen pregnancies were rare, because they would result in family shame. There would either have to be a "shotgun wedding," or the child would have to be put up for adoption. Abortions were also rare, because they were illegal, and unsafe, as coat hangers and back alleys were often involved.

Things began changing, though, in the late 60's and early 70's. In his column, Barry Farber correctly explained that it was the lack of shame that infected our society like a virus attacking our bodies with no immune system. (Okay, maybe Barry stated it much better by writing, "Once you lose that power of shame it's like society losing its immune system.") And it seems that even Barry Farber admits that fighting the evil forces that we are confronted with may seem futile.

What Barry Farber did not say in this column is how we got to this point of Debauchery USA, which kind of surprised me. So, allow me: Marxists. It was all in their plan to infiltrate Hollywood, the entertainment industry (musicians), academics, churches, the press, and ultimately do all they could to lower our moral standards by using the "freedom" card. They managed to get many of us willing to believe that freedom meant that we should be allowed to just "do our own thing."
I'm wondering if getting people to accept, or at least be more tolerant, of marijuana use helped them with that? (And notice, the Left doesn't ever equate freedom with responsibility!)

So, yes, Barry Farber was absolutely accurate in explaining that fighting the lack of moral standards in America
is now very difficult, especially because people like FORMER Representative Anthony Weiner and former President Clinton, could end up gaining from their indiscretions.  Can I expect to make a difference if I "speak up at the office, the dinner party, the bowling alley and embolden those around you who agree but are too timid to take the lead"? Or, will I only encounter problems by being a "wholesome-ite"? After reading this column, will you be emboldened to stand up to the evil lurking from the Left, and be willing to "stick the bony finger of indignation into the cackling face of evil"? I'm just sayin'...

Maybe you had to be there to feel the power. I was, on New York's Fire Island, only one scant social level lower than the fabled Hamptons where Anthony Weiner and wife Huma Abedin were rumored to be enjoying mid-scandal acclaim. It was a summer in the 1960s, and the hostess already had the cheese, crackers and wine out when she got a call.

"We're sorry to do this to you," the woman calling began, "but we're all Catholics, and we're so rattled by the Vatican II conference in Rome. Instead of coming as we promised, we have to get our people together and discuss what all this means to us and the way we were brought up. Please invite us again, if you can find a way to forgive us!"

I thought of that when the odd drama of Anthony Weiner took such a startling turn last week. Not his resignation from Congress. That wasn't startling. It was what came next: the huge offers; the book deal; Larry Flynt, the high priest of porn, begging him to come work with his erotic empire at a higher salary; the riptide of a strange kind of sympathy for the disgraced congressman. It was beyond sympathy. It was more like "You know, if we all get together we can make Weiner the Comeback Kid!" Look now for a reality TV show and a think-tank gig.

Suddenly I feel the need to "get OUR people together." Are you one of "our people"? Easy to tell. Do you see all this triumph and treasure descending upon Weiner as a great way to stick it to the sanctimonious moralists denouncing his antics? Or do you feel more like pounding the pulpit and throwing yourself on the church floor while decrying the handbasket-headed-for-hell in which we find ourselves? Let's call the two groups the "debauch-ophiles" and the "wholesome-ites."

I'm a wholesome-ite.

If you are, too, congratulations for admitting it. Will you further admit we've suffered a stunning defeat?

Communism's rebirth – at our expense ~ By Barry Farber

Why, now, is Communism "OK"? One myth that flickered underneath all the horrid history about Communism was that, even though the Communist system allowed no opportunity, it likewise gave you free or very low rent. Medicine was free. Education was free. Get it? No bankruptcies. No foreclosures. No debt. When you tell an American how much was "free," he assumes it was at or near his accustomed level. If you find the "entitlements" of Communism seductive, I want to reach through your monitor and grab you by the collar and shake you. The "expense-free" Communist subject had a miserable quality of life.

But, now that the atrocities of Communism are fading from the American memory, the promises of Communism sound rather interesting in a bad American economy. All I'm promising is that Communism is the world's biggest consumer fraud.

A Communist is someone who cannot see a fat man standing beside a thin man without concluding the fat man got that way at the expense of the thin man.

If Americans ever quit hating Communism, we'll quit hating the "give-aways" first.

Barry Farber does a great job to explain what Communism should be held accountable for in the 20th Century. And, he reminds us what can happen when people forget. Honestly, I have to wonder what could possibly have shoved all of the bad memories of what Communist nations did to their people down the memory hole. The media? Educators? Government propaganda? Hope and change?

I challenge anyone to show me where Communism has ever worked. In fact, show me where any Communist country has ever gone without committing genocide in order to gain and keep power!

Thank you, Barry Farber, for writing this column! It is about time that somebody plugged the memory hole, and pulled some of the grim memories, that never should be forgotten, out of that abyss. And thank you again for reminding us that liberals are leading us to that memory hole by helping us to quit hating entitlements and class envy first.

And guess what? While we still have the freedom to write about it, now is the time to work on keeping too many people from falling into the bottomless memory hole. It could be our last chance. But, hey, I understand if you want to stay silent. We all know who's doors would be knocked down first should we be on the losing side. I'm just sayin'...

The cartoon showed two 6-year-old boys sitting on a fence admiring a 5-year-old girl, nose in the air, perky and cute as a speckled puppy under a red wagon. "If I ever quit hating girls," said one of the boys, "I'm going to quit hating HER first!"

Communism is out of the closet, out on the American street under its own name and doing its best to be heard and heeded. This is the second time American Communists have been comfortable preaching, parading and plotting without hiding behind front groups shouting "Peace" and "Equality" and pretending their real name and aim is something like "Milk for Bulgarian Babies." Before World War II, being a Communist was fashionable. It made you a kind of automatic moral giant. Journalist Lincoln Steffens returned to America from the brand-new Soviet Union and declared, "I have seen the future, and it works!"

Why this, and why now? Authentic American hero Dave Bego, who defied and defeated the efforts of the all-powerful Service Employees International Union (SEIU) to bludgeon him into accepting unionization of his industrial cleaning company, Executive Management Services, sent me a literally unbelievable "picture show" of a joint SEIU and Communist Party rally in Los Angeles in which the union members carried Communist flags and the marching Communists carried union signs.

All of the joy and prestige of being a Communist vanished shortly after the Americans and British, with our Soviet allies, destroyed Nazi Germany. The true face of Communism became abruptly plain. Territory conquered by Allied troops was liberated. That conquered by the Communists was enslaved. The Berlin Blockade was a shameless Soviet abrogation of our agreements.

The Iron Curtain descended across Europe. The Nazi "knock-on-the-door" followed by the permanent disappearance of those inside, the torture chambers, the total repression of all freedoms, life sentences in the Gulag for the crime of listening to foreign broadcasts, the works – really the whole Nazi works – unfolded. It's true, opportunistic American politicians demagogued Communism for votes, but they did more service to America than those demagoguing Paul Ryan's attempt to reform entitlements today.

John Stossel and my pleasure jolts ~ By Barry Farber

And if every member of Congress could see John Stossel's "Freeloaders" on Fox, neither socialism, the Bureau of Indian Affairs nor the U.S. budget would ever be the same, either.

If you talk to Lumbees about "wigwams, tomahawks, squaws, etc." they won't scalp you. But they're more comfortable talking about approved loans, balanced portfolios, expanding equity and a surging Dow.

That gives them a severe pleasure jolt.

There is a definite conduit of "pleasure jolts" going on here. John Stossel generated the "pleasure jolt" with his "Freeloaders" special, which was then transmitted to Barry Farber, who then transferred that amazing energy of "pleasure jolts" to me like I was touching a hot line while standing in salt water.

I had apparently neglected to set my TiVo to get the John Stossel special on Fox News recorded the evening it was on. I was glad to see that somebody else has it uploaded to youtube, which I of course watched, and then inserted in the excerpted text below. But the "pleasure jolt" comes in both finding a video of Stossel's "Freeloaders" special, and in Barry Farber's realization that it's another powerful example of the failure of government assistance, and the success of free enterprise while doing without any kind of subsidy from the Nanny State.

Now, if you are reading this column and watching the video, and you feel more like you are enduring shock treatment, rather than the "pleasure jolt," you may want to start reconsidering the actual source of your misery. And if the current you are receiving is generated by Big Brother, think battery: It will eventually die.

So, never forget the other lesson in Farber's column: Knowledge is power.

Occasionally I'm hit with a severe jolt of pleasure; a strange pleasure; a pleasure most profound. You've heard, "Knowledge is power." With me it's also, "Knowledge is pleasure." Example:

Nobody asked me to cover the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway. However, I just happen to know that Lillehammer is located in the part of Norway named "Gudbrandsdalen." And I also happen to know that means "The Valley of God's Fire." I'll bet you not one in a hundred of the non-Norwegian press corps knows that; that's all. And that's enough; enough for me, anyhow.

Now here comes John Stossel, fellow WND columnist, over the weekend of March 26 with one of the best pieces in television history: "Freeloaders," a Fox News special delivering stomp-down proof that Indian tribes that are not recognized as tribes by the government and get no federal handouts are more successful than those on the federal dole. Stossel visited the Lumbee tribe of North Carolina, whose members get nothing from the government. They're generally successful in business. Many live in luxury mansions. In contrast, the Indians embraced by the feds live in what look like tar-paper shacks.

(Start watching this video at about 5:46)

Video provided by ThomasPaine4 on Mar 26, 2011

In boxing, John Stossel's interview with Elizabeth Homer, who used to be the government nanny of the recognized tribes, would have been canceled as a mismatch or halted on a TKO early in Round 1. She was pitifully unable to defend government stewardship over Native Americans as anything but the failure of socialism.

I'll never quit thanking Stossel for giving me Part 4 of my standard answer to the question, "How can you flat-out say that capitalism is better for the masses than socialism?" Up to now I've had three examples: free and prosperous Finland, which began its national life simultaneously with its dysfunctional Communist Russian neighbor; West Berlin, delivering mortal embarrassment to Communist East Berlin every day of the latter's existence; and Hong Kong, when it was British and free right next to Communist China. Now I add: the Lumbees, up against all the tribes spoon-fed by Washington.

Talk radio gave conservatism wings ~ By Barry Farber

If you who oppose this thesis can swallow this one pill, you may qualify for eventual recovery. Rush Limbaugh's genius is not the reason for his success. His conservatism is. If an equally gifted liberal were to come on the air, he would fail. Limbaugh's genius is a reinforcer, an expander and an enhancer; not a cause. And "ditto" the fate of a "Hannity" as handy with the language on the left as Sean is on the right.

You liberals decrying the success of conservative talk radio and trying feverishly to emulate it deserve one feeble compliment. You do remind me of all those untiring agenda-crats who, by consent, ignored a perfect fit and kept trying tirelessly to mash the glass slipper onto Cinderella's sister's foot.
Barry Farber discusses how talk radio allowed the American people to finally get an opportunity to offer their feedback to the source of information. And when this finally happened, the feedback was Conservative. Barry offers the suggestion that as brilliant as talk hosts like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity are, they would not have been successful had their message been liberal. This might explain why Liberals hate the Conservative talk radio shows. It hurt Progressivism when Americans with Conservative values found out that they weren't alone!

In medieval Europe, people thought trees gave birth to birds. There's a medieval notion in modern America that talk radio is the former choir boy who dropped out, took up alcohol and drugs, went mad, tortured turtles and plotted more and wilder ways to defame and destroy our beautiful America.

Newspapers shook their heads sadly at the trajectory of their fallen siblings in talk radio and remained "normal," meaning liberal. So did almost all magazines, books, movies, plays and television; except, of course, those awful shows that tried to mimic talk radio. Is there possibly another explanation why talk radio looms as the Peck's Bad Boy of American media while virtually all other media remain "OK," again, meaning liberal? I suggest there is, and I further suggest the left will continue to peck at it even though its truth is impeccable.

Newspapers are written by a staff hired by the owners. The editorial policy is set by those who inhabit what we used to call the "Bubble Room." Sure, there are letters to the editor, half-a-dozen a day or more; all selected and edited by the editors. Magazines are similar. As more and more conservative books succeed, the ramparts are eroding; but if you wish to see President Obama limited to a single term, don't propose that voting next time be limited to those who work for major American publishing houses. The message of a book is unchallenged within its covers. After the author concludes, there's no chapter consisting of "Letters to the author" disputing his views.

It's a technical insult to you readers to spend more than one word extending this reasoning to movies. The word "Hollywood" is sufficient, and there are no additional scenes tacked on to the end of the film presenting "Letters to the director" with alternate points of view. After a play, on opening night only, you may hear the cry "Author!" ring out, but that's an appeal for applause, not a cross-examination of the playwright's politics.

TV dramas, game shows, reality shows, comedy shows and network news don't give us a chance to criticize their facts, attitude or ideology. The rare exception when a plain-old-viewer's contrary opinion is offered, it's done with a flourish appropriate to the Bastille being stormed and democracy restored to the nation.

The only medium that lets the general public into the act – like Andrew Jackson let the riff-raff into the White House – is talk radio. And the rest is simple. Editors, producers, directors, authors, playwrights and media-owners are often talented and praiseworthy people. But move them off-stage, please, for this one snapshot. WHEN THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE ADMITTED TO TAKE PART, THE RESULT WILL BE CONSERVATIVE!

Idiots in high places ~ By Barry Farber

I first heard about the possible deportation of Mosab Hassan Yousef in a column by Joseph Farah back in early June. So, Barry Farber has it exactly right about the idiots in high places, and it is unbelievable that Janet Napolitano was given the job as Secretary of Homeland Security. (And, what a bunch of morons in the Senate who confirmed her for the position!)  It is even more unbelievable she hasn't yet been replaced! Oh, wait, there probably is a plausible reason for why Obama hasn't gotten rid of her yet. Obama needs another crisis, so he needs to keep her in the position of "securing the homeland," and probably assuring that the United States is attacked again.

And while reading this column, I had a thought that made me chuckle. I realized what an ironic twist it was that Obama picked Napolitano for the job of the Secretary of Homeland Security, because it was when she opted to take the assignment, meaning that she had to resign as Governor of Arizona. And we all know what that lead to. As Arizona Secretary of State, Jan Brewer was next in line to become Governor to finish the term. Yes, so Obama gets his DHS boss who is probably even dumber than Joe Biden, leaving his worst nightmare, Jan Brewer, down in Arizona to sign S.B. 1070. What an ironic twist of fate! Just sayin'...

And the media covering all this with a straight face is just as scary as the espionage-illiterate Napolitano. Doesn't she have anybody around her with the brains and guts to say, "Hey, Chief! Maybe this guy deserves a high-five and not a heave-ho!"

The Department of Homeland Security, according to American media reports, withdrew its deportation demand without explanation. Bravo! Once, an Italian invasion unit involved in NATO exercises mistakenly landed in Kristianstad, Sweden, instead of the intended Kristiansund, Norway. Sweden isn't even a member of NATO. Oops, wrong country!

And the Italians never even offered to explain why they quickly withdrew.

Would you?

America's economy is in bad shape. But the country's economy is in better shape than its mentality.

In the 1850s, a traveling theatrical group arrived in the beautiful mountain town of Asheville, N.C., for a series of performances. They hired some local people to help with props, stage settings, etc. The first act ended with a massacre; one of the actors pulled out a gun and shot four other actors who fell to the floor. And the curtain descended.

One of the local men burst out upon stage and yelled, "I live in this town. I ain't no traveling actor, and I gotta tell you this whole damned thing is a fraud. Those people ain't dead. Why, the minute that curtain fell, they all got right back up and dusted themselves off, and now they're all back there walking around just like you and me!"

Not exactly a good advertisement for the mentality of that era and area, but chillingly neck-and-neck with the mentality of the American government today. Mosab Hassan Yousef is the now-famous son of the founder of the terrorist group Hamas who pretended to be a terrorist himself but was secretly spying for Israel. His book, "Son of Hamas," describes his work pretending to be a loyal Jew-hating terrorist while feeding vital information to Israel's Shin Bet agency the whole time, and finally converting to Christianity and warning about the evils of Islamic terrorism.

In a shameful and breathtaking burst of ignorance, Janet Napolitano's Department of Homeland Security sought to have Yousef deported. Why? Well, there it was in black and white: He admitted in his book that he worked closely with Hamas! If Napolitano's deportation demand had gone through, and if Yousef could obtain excellent disguise, he might remain alive five minutes after his arrival back in the Middle East. And it was only after a cadre of sane and intelligent Americans, led by former CIA Director James Woolsey and Colorado Republican Rep. Doug Lamborn and his GOP colleagues, came storming to the rescue that Napolitano "got it" and dropped the deportation effort.

This is the most alarming lack of sophistication in government I can remember. Of course, Yousef "worked with Hamas," you irredeemable idiots! That's what spies do. They pretend to be on the side they're not on in order to be trusted so they can shovel more information to the side they are on; in this case, our side. I recall when we understood the two-plus-two-equals-four of world affairs. The unswerving stupidity of the Department of Homeland Security makes me want to plunge into the nostalgia tank and forget about coming up for air. There was something called communism, the Soviet Union, Moscow – you remember, Janet; it was in all the papers. Whenever anybody – forget spies on our side – whenever anybody escaped communism and made it to America, he got asylum as reliably as detergent boxes back then offered free glassware.

If I were a congressman or a senator and Janet Napolitano were the one we were "hearing," I'd ask her if she thought James Cagney, Vincent Price, Sydney Greenstreet and Peter Lorre should be locked up because they played bad guys in movies. If she responded in the negative, I'd ask her to explain the difference between any one of them and the valiant and valuable Yousef "acting" as a loyal Hamas follower, complete with gun, hanging out with his dad over at Yasser Arafat's. And, by the way, saving countless Israeli and American lives.

The American freedom gene ~ By Barry Farber

In this column, Barry Farber wrote the statement, "So, heretical though it sounds, I think some complacency is OK." Oh, really? I couldn't disagree more! Has Farber lost his mind? Did he forget about who was President, and the Marxists advisers Obama has working in the White House? Has Barry noticed that Nancy Pelosi is still the Speaker and Harry Reid is still the Majority leader in the Senate, at least until this November? Has he forgotten how ObamaCare was jammed down our throats, despite the uproar from We the People at Tea Parties and Town Hall meetings??

No, this is absolutely no time for complacency. If it was, maybe I'd be spending a little more time with my family, taking my dog for longer walks, or maybe even watching more baseball games (even if it is the lovable losers, the Chicago Cubs, playing). But instead, I keep on writing blog posts and uploading videos to youtube. If you haven't noticed, my dear readers, losing our freedom is causing me major anxiety. Perhaps Barry may be somewhat correct by thinking that it PROBABLY won't happen overnight. But, then again... Things could change. Whether in November of this year, or in 2012, what if the President and his leftist Democrat minions begin seeing the end of their power because of the folks in the Tea Party Movement? How do we know that there won't be another terrorist attack on America, or the global economy completely crumbles, and the President decides that you can't let a crisis go to waste, so he declares martial law because of an "emergency"?

True, there are many people out there that won't allow certain freedoms to go down the tubes. They won't tolerate the First and Second Amendments to be taken away. Not without a fight. I've heard plenty of people state that there's no way anyone is going to come and confiscate their guns. But I have a feeling that they would be in for the fight of their lives, and many would die trying to defend those freedoms. Rifles and shotguns and handguns are hardly a match for drones armed with missiles, tanks, or Apache helicopters.

However, keep in mind that the government, both Federal and States, are gradually eroding freedoms now, and it is sad to see the complacency among We the People that Farber is suggesting. And I'll give you an example: Many local and state governments are now banning cigarette smoking in any and all establishments, including restaurants and taverns. The same jerks that wrote that kind of freedom-limiting legislation will most likely stay in office, and even if they don't, it seems that the politicians running against them won't overturn those kinds of laws and regulations out of the fear of appearing to not be caring about health issues. No, wait, I'm not done yet: Obesity will be the next great health issue for the government to solve, and pretty soon the government will be telling us what, when, and where we can eat. You betcha!

Patriots and freedomfighters, be sure to read Barry's column, but now isn't the time to be complacent. Just sayin'...
Are you so liberal or so chic you can't admit America is special? And America is the heart-lung machine of freedom everywhere? And if it weren't for America, there would be no freedom of speech anywhere? Don't just sputter. Explain who else would have stopped the successful expansion of the Soviet Union, where the local "Pelosis" had no rocky roads when it came to eliminating freedom of speech and everything else.

I'm not saying, don't look both ways before crossing the railroad tracks. Go ahead and look. But if it's America and you're expecting a train full of blackshirts and jackboots, it's going to be a hell of a long time coming.

Who's the American who makes me so confident? He's the one who, when he got a government form to fill out with a blank space that said, "Do not write in this space," he put a pen to that very space and wrote, "I'll write where I damned well please!"

There's a lot of dark talk around about the government shutting down the Internet, banning criticism of the administration, ending the "toxic" chatter from conservative talk hosts and even more dire assaults on free speech.

Nobody ever says a kind word about incest, bestiality, sadism and sexual trafficking, and that's fitting and proper. There's another "sin" that has no advocates that I'd like to separate from the no-no bunch and bathe in at least a slightly improved light. This may be the first kind word you've ever read about "complacency"!

Complacency has its place. It's not always a dangerous condition. It's obviously foolish to say, "It (meaning dictatorship and repression) can't happen here in America." If democracy can happen in Albania, then anything can happen anywhere. If we back up just a little, however, we'll be OK. Strike out "It can't happen here!" and substitute, "Elimination of freedoms like speaking and voting are highly unlikely in this 244-year-old democracy, so put it at or near the bottom of your patriot's worry-list."

WorldNetDaily reports that Nancy Pelosi is having a "rocky road" trying to marshal support for the "Disclose Act" and has withdrawn it for the time being. That act would not murder the First Amendment; just jab it in the thigh with a poison-tipped umbrella. The Supreme Court has OK'd "Citizens United," meaning it's perfectly all right to throw special-interest money into "issue" advertising. Mrs. Pelosi prefers all such donors to be identified. And, of course, she's having a hard time. All "Pelosis" will always have a hard time pushing any measure limiting or even threatening free speech in America.

Despite this many decades of left-lunging policies in education, welfare, spreading the wealth and a political correctness horrified at the concept of anything that might offend anybody, they still haven't done the job. They haven't gotten rid of the American freedom gene. We're not done yet. They can't even get the fork in deep enough to tell.

So, heretical though it sounds, I think some complacency is OK. I don't think there's any danger, for instance, that Bill Gates will ever miss a meal because he can't pay for it. Or that Ellen DeGeneres will ever try to muscle my wife out of the way, grab me by the elbow and take me away to the Caribbean. Much American turf is eligible for complacency.

The U.S. military is a totalitarian organization charged with the defense of freedom. The eagerness to "obey orders" does not come merely in the German accent. In the Army, I heard that "Yes, Sir" in every accent, brogue, burr and twang. You get ahead in the Army through obedience and subservience. Yet one day in the Army they experimented with our unit by issuing a false order to see how we'd react. They straight-facedly announced that from now on the "Universal Military Chapel" would convene for worship at ten hundred hours (10 a.m.) Sunday morning. Permission to be non-present at the UMC would be upon written permission of your commanding officer only. And this order applied to all Catholic, Protestant and Jewish personnel.

The post was Arlington Hall Station, just south of the Pentagon in late 1953. And how did we disciplined "yes-men" react? There was a mutiny. Open rebellion. GIs who walked around with comic books jutting out of their back pockets turned out to have an amazing amount of the Constitution in their hearts.

All the blame falls on 'peace flotilla' ~ By Barry Farber

Barry Farber is absolutely correct about where to place the blame for the incident in the Mediterranean. However, not only should Israel not take the any of the blame, but it should also be mentioned that the entire "peace flotilla" was all a set-up to begin with. The "peace flotilla" was far from being anything peaceful. It was being run by a Islamic terrorist organization, the IHH, tied to the Muslim Brotherhood. Even though other countries that are blaming Israel have seen the videos, and should know that Israel was not to blame for the violence, they continue on with their excuse to blame Israel for it.

To think that the United States is supposedly staying "neutral," and not siding with Israel, is a blow to our greatest allie. As you will see in the video below, there are complicated reasons for the U.S. position. Does it have anything to do with Turkey by any chance? Were you aware that Turkey and Iran have signed a peace treaty? You'll find out the answers in the video below. Just sayin'...

June 2, 2010 - Israel's Blockade and the Provocation

Video provided by TheREALjohnny2k

All of us can admire brave activists defying armed force to get food and medicine into a country under foreign occupation. But are you aware the Israelis left Gaza in 2005? So, how "brave" are those who refuse Israel's invitation to deliver the aid peacefully and, instead, stage a wholly unnecessary defiance to send aid to a country that's not occupied, just pre-occupied with trying to destroy its helpful-if-hated neighbor. Israel, you see, delivers 15,000 tons of aid to Gaza every week.

Are you among those who wish our wars weren't as morally muddled as they've been lately? Do you long for the moral clarity of World War II – clear-cut good guys and bad guys? If so, congratulations. You've got it here and now in the waters off Gaza.

On one side you have darkness, dictatorship, torture, religious oppression, summary execution for brothers suspected of disloyalty, beheadings for courageous journalists who chase truth, honor killings for young daughters curious about the taste of lipstick, utter subjugation of women, a swath of territory the size of the moon with the word "Failure" writ large all over it, scripture that demands extermination of those who don't believe – there's more, but that's enough.

On the other side you've got a little country sinking under the weight of its Nobel Prizes, dazzling medical discoveries, life-lifting inventions, miraculous greenery that was desert a mere historical eye-blink ago, a country with a judicial system that punishes its own soldiers who wantonly harm enemy civilians, a country open to every race and religion, the only democracy between the Mediterranean Sea and the Pacific Ocean – there's more, but that's enough.

Israel has politely served notice on the world that, "We shall not be so inexpensively exterminated again."

The speed of light is impressive, but it's no match for the power of ignorance. Facts don't cease to be facts just because bad people hate them. Here's what major media worldwide want you to believe: "Israel has committed a murderous assault on a peaceful flotilla seeking nothing but the bringing of humanitarian aid to the embattled citizens of Gaza." And that, friends, is a commodity found in abundance wherever bulls congregate.

Paul Harvey, please come back! Never have we needed "the rest of the story" more urgently. In a way, Gaza is occupied – by Hamas! Hamas refused to recognize Israel and has lobbed 10,000 explosive reminders of that into Israeli villages.

Now then, what about this "humanitarian aid"? Are you aware that Israel warned loud and long against any attempt to break its well-justified blockade? That doesn't impress you! Very well, are you aware that Israel invited the flotilla to sail nonviolently into the southern Israeli port of Ashdod where the cargo would be inspected to weed out any weaponry that might have "accidentally" gotten mixed up with the humanitarian aid, whereupon the aid would have been shipped unmolested into Gaza?

That may trouble the blockade-busters a bit because that strips the true motivation of the flotilla down to very thin underwear. And, of course, that genuinely humanitarian gesture by Israel was rejected by the "peace activists," thereby offering courtroom-proof that the true motive of the expedition was precisely to provoke the confrontation with Israel that they achieved. Are you aware the "peace activists" had children aboard, knowing they were going to violate international maritime law against an Israel generous with its warnings? Sound familiar?

Nobody had to die. Nobody had to suffer a bent fingernail. But allowing the truly humanitarian portion of the cargo to enter through Israel would not have given the "peace activists" the heroic mantle of "defiance" for which they staged the whole diseased enterprise. The Israeli commandos were armed with paintball guns; you know, the kind the militia trainees play with in the woods of the Dakotas.

A warning to the tea partiers ~ By Barry Farber

Barry explains why the tea parties need to stay the way they are: a true grass roots movement. The last thing that the movement needs is organization and leadership.
My plea to the tea parties, one of which I was privileged to address last July 4, is, "Please, fellows. Keep it up, but don't ever try to get organized. Let it all flow like a student riot in Ecuador; or, better, a patriots' gathering in old Lexington and Concord." (I'd favor granting every illegal alien who could explain that last sentence instant citizenship. And I'll bet you we could tote the lot of them down to the courthouse in a normal-sized van!)

The following has never been verified by me. Too many good stories are ruined by over-verification. Just call it "Southern folk-biology."

We were taught that the magnolia blossom, probably the most beautiful in the plant kingdom, stays beautiful only as long as you do nothing but look at it. If you touch it, it blackens and dies! I think tea parties do, too.

Born strong a year ago and now reportedly stronger than either of the two major parties, the tea-party movement defies coherent journalistic attempts to sum it all up. Writing about the tea-party movement is like trying to nail a custard pie to the side of a barn. Like the Vestal Virgins of ancient Rome, the power of the tea parties is bound up with their untouchability. Pollsters tell us the tea parties are more admired than the major parties. But if the tea partiers ever start behaving like a major party, they'll go the way of the magnolia blossom.

The standard political movement starts with a leader and a message and then outreach; once upon a time, letters, then doorbells, then telephones, now computers and eventually rallies; small and then, the founders hope, larger and larger. That's called "top down." This tea-party phenomenon came upon us like Iceland's cloud of volcanic ash. It's strictly from the bottom up, from deep down inside the boiling American soul; up, up and away.

Complicating the task of the journalist is that fact that, like snowflakes and fingerprints, no two tea parties are alike. My daughter Celia Farber, a writer whose work has reached the front cover of magazines like Esquire and Harper's, attended the New York Tea Party on April 15. Here's part of her report.

"I wanted to go see for myself rather than rely on quasi-hysterical media depictions. I was moved. Everybody was smiling, and there was a very uplifting feeling in the crowd. I felt no hate at all, nothing extremist or menacing. I felt uplifted and hopeful. I went with no preconceptions. Everybody was warm and welcoming. The left is making a big mistake disparaging these people."

When asked if minority Americans were there, Celia saved a lot of words by stating simply, "Yes. It was the same mix of people you see on the New York subway." Was it a hate-Obama rally? "No way," insists Celia. "That's a red herring. It was much more a protest against the countless violations of liberty in recent years, culminating with the banking bailout and the health-care-reform bill."

There may have been tea parties in which President Obama undoubtedly was the big target. There's no "tea party-line." If the question is, "Who's in charge here?" the tea party's present strength lies in the answer, "Nobody!" Or, at least, different unfamiliar names in different places. It's so long since we've seen a real grass root we've forgotten what it looks like. Sure, the tea-party movement now has a list of candidates they endorse, but those endorsements are based strictly on principles – not backroom deals with a union. And they've got a "Contract From America" broadcaster Larry Kudlow analyzed as mostly a defense of the Constitution. Can anything this great really be happening to us?

Call me a 'birther' ~ By Barry Farber

Barry Farber writes about some of the strange facts, or rather, the strange LACK of facts, about Barry Soetoro, aka President Obama.
Remember the Sherlock Holmes tale of "The Dog That Did Not Bark"? That's a theme that may be worth moving on to.

Among the items in President Obama's biography, I hear a dog not barking. And, to me, the non-barking is quite loud. Obama's handlers have, naturally, enhanced his image by highlighting things that humanize and enlarge the man and impress the masses...

No single snowflake ever feels responsible for the avalanche. It's not just the "birth certificate"; President Obama has given us blizzards of reasons to question his autobiographical accuracy.
At my journalism school there were no lessons on how to ignore 800-pound gorillas. How did this current crowd get so good at it? Example: I attended the University of North Carolina with the great movie- and TV star Andy Griffith. When he became a national favorite, those who knew him slightly pretended they knew him well. Those who knew him well pretended they'd roomed with him. That's for a Hollywood star, mind you; not a president. Isn't there one mainstream journalist who finds it odd that, quite literally, nobody recalls going to Columbia University with Barack Obama? – or Barry Soetero?

Jack Cashill's literary sleuthing has convinced millions that Obama never wrote his own books. Interview yourself: Do you believe the president, after 20 years in his pew, was surprised to learn of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright's racial views? Or that the president had no clue as to William Ayers' background beyond his being "a guy in the neighborhood"? I forgive myself for being reminded of a guy in my neighborhood whose relationship to the truth suffered perpetual estrangement. He never told the truth. Never! Well, once, I must concede, he did tell the truth, but he thought he was lying! Among my unalienable rights is the right to question everything about the president's past as presented to us.

I remember when American newsmen used to ridicule their French colleagues for their obsequious softball questioning of President Charles de Gaulle at Paris press conferences. Those French reporters were water-boarders compared to the American White House press corps today.

The treatment, by the president's political bodyguards, of those who believe he's not eligible to hold the office is an American disgrace. As King Christian of Denmark spat in Hitler's face by wearing the Star of David (which only Jews were obligated to wear), let me quickly don the label of a "birther," and then I'll move on. Or, let the president "show it" and we can all move on!

Tavern on the Green and our delusional leaders ~ By Barry Farber

Commentary from WorldNetDaily
Barry Farber By Barry Farber Posted: January 06, 2010 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2010 The big guy at the bar looked down upon the little guy at the bar and roared, "Are you calling me a liar?" "Oh, no sir," replied the little guy, "I'm just telling you what a liar I am if you're telling the truth!" OK. I'm not calling those who run our government Nazis. I'm merely telling you how closely my feelings resemble those of a friend who was a POW of the Germans and subject to exclusively Nazi information from shortly after D-Day until he miraculously escaped. Hang on tight because this next line may throw you. He was captured by the Germans in France and sent to a POW camp in England. That's right. How many of you can unpuzzle that? A little-known fact of World War II was that Germany occupied English territory. The Channel Islands, including Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney and Sark, fell to the Nazis along with France in 1940, and it was on Alderney that they constructed the only Nazi concentration camps on British soil. The Germans provided their British and American prisoners with a daily newsletter pretending to offer news from the fighting fronts. Every day's newsletter told of another "great German victory," which was disconcerting to our men until they caught on that every "great German victory" took place farther east than the one before! The Allies were advancing. The Germans were retreating. But that didn't affect German bragging about all their "great victories." Where am I headed with this? Our leaders (maybe "cheerleaders" would be more accurate) keep issuing self-serving and self-praising statements along the lines of, "The recession is ending"; "Economic recovery is now upon us"; "It was dicey for a while, but, man, did we ever pull this thing off!" Meanwhile, New York's Tavern on the Green just went belly-up! READ FULL STORY >

Climategate? What Climategate? ~ By Barry Farber

Commentary from WorldNetDaily
Barry Farber By Barry Farber Posted: December 02, 2009 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 Remember the 3-year-old girl who won our hearts during the Vietnam War when she asked her father, "What if they gave a war and nobody came?" She's now old enough to ask, "What if they gave the biggest scandal in the whole history of science and no major TV network reported it for a week – and then mostly to try to downplay it?" And remember the emperor who had no clothes? If his fraudulent weavers were as smart as the "Pay-Us-To-Save-You-From-Global-Warming" mob, they'd have wrapped some real cloth, not their expensive imaginary kind, around the mouth of that kid who ruined their scam by shouting, "The emperor has no clothes!" The major media have lost their power to cover up "Climategate." There's too much minor media today. Chances are you've already heard about the hacking of what amounts to 63 megabytes' worth of material, over a thousand e-mails and other documents, from the Climatic Research Unit at England's University of East Anglia. That heist was then pitched out to a Russian server that instantaneously alerted the whole world. That's got to be Russia's greatest contribution to mankind since their monumental contributions to the destruction of the late Adolf Hitler. The side that gains money, prestige and power by convincing us that humans are overheating the planet says there's nothing but a bunch of yawns in that whole haul and the real story is the criminal theft of other people's mail. The side that says there's no way humans can cause global warming and the whole madness is a power-and-money grab says this is the smoking gun – or rather the mushroom cloud – signaling the end of the rip-off. As President Obama once famously said, "Let's not jump to conclusions." I agree. It's too much fun watching global warming's feathers plucked plume by plume. READ FULL STORY >
