Lord Obama’s Leniency on Big Pharma: Payback Time ~ By Doug Powers

Doug PowersBy Doug Powers ~ From THE POWERS THAT BE August 9, 2009 “Big Pharma,” as the pharmaceutical companies are often called, are greedy, evil bastards who pleasure themselves with thousand-dollar-bills while watching people who can’t afford their medicine die — at least, that’s the reputation that’s been assigned to them. This is why there have been repeated calls, mostly by Democrats, to take down Big Pharma and even put the government in charge of making and selling our medicine. But in June, President Obama announced a surprise deal with Big Pharma, and all the Big Pharma devil had to do was agree to reduce its draw of revenues by $80 billion over 10 years and cut the cost of medicine in the program by up to 50%. Wow, wasn’t that easy? Well, obviously that’s not all Big Pharma had to agree to do, because now we’re seeing the rest of the deal fulfilled:
The drug industry has authorized its lobbyists to spend as much as $150 million on television commercials supporting President Obama’s health care overhaul, beginning over the August Congressional recess, people briefed on the plans said Saturday.
