Job creation, not gimmicks ~ By Herman Cain

The citizen activist movement that is growing across this country is no gimmick. It is getting bigger and bigger, and promises to produce even more election surprises in November of 2010 similar to what happened recently in New Jersey and Massachusetts.


Maybe then they will get it.

The president, his administration and most members of Congress still don't get it! So let's try to explain job creation another way. You stimulate the creation of jobs by reducing an employer's cost to keep people employed (less taxes) and then by reducing the cost of a business to grow their business (less regulations). If these two things happen, then jobs will be created.

Job creation is not a complicated phenomenon, but the president and the Democrats have been convinced that less taxes is bad, and more regulations are good. It's just the opposite, and there is plenty of historical evidence to prove it.

The Economic Report of the President was released last week by his Council of Economic Advisers. According to the Wall Street Journal, "the report offers few new policy prescriptions or economic forecasts." In fact, the administration still believes it can rebuild the economy through health-care legislation, clean-energy initiatives, infrastructure projects and small-business tax breaks.

Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Va., gave the most laser-like description of the report. "The Obama Administration's report is full of blame for the policies of years past, praise for its own failed policies of the past year, and promises about their ideological agenda to grow government."

Translation, the report is 400-plus pages of repackaged propaganda.

Of course the president restated his commitment to job creation, but most of the chatter from his administration and Congress about a new jobs bill is just another bunch of gimmicks that will do nothing to stimulate new job creation.

Just as "Cash for Clunkers" was a gimmick that did not work, the current offering of a $5,000 tax credit to employers who hire an unemployed worker, plus a limited-time suspension of part of their payroll taxes are just propaganda gimmicks.

Taxing to the last breath ~ By Doug Powers

By Doug Powers Posted: July 13, 2009 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 The year 2009 may well be the most expensive year in history, both in a financial and constitutional sense, and it might get even worse. The cap-and-trade bill will be debated in the Senate soon, talk of another stimulus is flying around, and Barbara Boxer and others are ratcheting up the rhetoric so as to make us believe that if we don't commit to giving all remaining money and freedom to Washington now, we'll be dead before dinner. Some are trying to make the case that only another stimulus will save the economy, which is a little asking the captain of the Titanic to hit another iceberg in the hopes it will plug up the holes made by the first one. The very idea of a second Obama stimulus is sheer madness, which is exactly what makes it a very real possibility. And to top it off an administration that has been called "Gilligan's Island without the professor" is in control of General Motors – but you can read all about that in next month's issue of Czar & Driver magazine. There should be nothing more disconcerting to Americans than seeing a bunch of politicians in a hurry. The president, Senate Democrats and a few falsely labeled "Republicans" rushed through the stimulus package like Trent Lott scurrying through South Central at dusk. Now, to cover the enormous "stimulus" outlay that, by design, does nothing but increase the size and reach of the government, they must reload the coffers by trying to tax you for each time you toast bread or exhale ("pay as you blow"?) via carbon and energy taxes. The quest of carbon-based life to spend every last penny on earth to get rid of carbon will turn out to be either the most costly suicide ever, or the most expensive scam of all time. Frankly, I'm not thrilled with either option, but I have a pretty good idea which it is. But that's just the tip of the iceberg, because cap and trade is going global. President Obama met with other G8 leaders in Rome to figure out ways to control Earth's temperature using nothing but the remaining contents of your paycheck. Impressive. I'll bet even MacGyver couldn't do that! I have to admit, creating a fear of naturally occurring phenomena like the weather and temperature to achieve power while providing a justification to steal both money and freedom is medieval, but conceptually brilliant and a time-honored tradition among people seeking a way to take advantage of the ignorant. But sometimes, their failings are so mindboggling, I just can't help but point it out. Such is the case with this past weekend's tea party coverage. First of all, it isn't often that hundreds of thousands of ordinary, hardworking Americans put aside their holiday plans to spend a few precious downtime hours grilling hamburgers with family members and friends to get out into the streets to protest the actions of their federal government. In fact, I can't think of one other instance in my lifetime. So the Independence Day tea party was an extraordinary event to begin with. Everyone knew there would be about 2,000 rallies around the country – that we could count. There were probably far more. Everyone knew that these demonstrations would attract between 50 people at the low end and 5,000 to 10,000 at the high end. The times were set. The date was set – a predictably slow news day on a holiday weekend. Yet, to my utter amazement, having been in the news business for more than 30 years, not one news organization – broadcast, print or Internet – bothered to put together what we call a "roundup" of these local stories to give the events some national context. Not even the Associated Press, the largest news-gathering organization in the world, one paid specifically by newspapers to perform this function, given that it is a non-profit cooperative of the newspaper industry and therefore having rights to all the copy produced by its members, bothered to put together a roundup story – even as late as 24 hours after all the tea parties were finished. More than 2,000 tax, Big Government protests in all 50 states Posted: July 05, 2009 11:28 am Eastern © 2009 WorldNetDaily WASHINGTON – More than 2,000 tea parties from coast to coast attracted hundreds of thousands tax and Big Government protesters on Independence Day – perhaps the biggest July 4 political event in America since the proclamation of the Declaration of Independence. From Washington and New York on the East Coast to Los Angeles and Monterey on the West Coast and all points between, Americans had their say yesterday about bailouts, cap-and-trade bills and new federal spending programs that they believe are mortgaging their children's futures and robbing them of personal freedom. The turnouts that defied traditional July 4 diversions, heat and rain encouraged organizers looking forward to the next scheduled tea party events Sept. 12 in Washington, D.C. Nearly 5,000 people turned out in Oklahoma City at the state Capitol building. That protest was one of 32 in Oklahoma alone. In San Antonio, Texas, between 3,000 and 4,000 gathered in intense heat throughout the day at the Rio Cibolo Ranch. Joe Wurzelbacher, better known as "Joe the Plumber," was one of the featured speakers along with Gov. Rick Perry, who became the first elected official to sign the "Contract with the Constitution," a document that espouses 10 principles including limiting the role of the federal government, protecting the right to bear arms and amending the Constitution to define marriage as a union between one man and one woman. In Washington, D.C., the center of expanding federal powers, about 2,000 small-government advocates rallied to express their outrage at the trillion-dollar "stimulus" plans. "They are wasting all of our money," said Sean Albert of Richmond, Va. "They're not running our government like we would run our own checkbooks. When I'm out of money, I stop spending the money." With some 2,000 rallies taking place in all 50 states, cities such as West Palm Beach, Fla., were typical of the angst vented against recent government action. Among those carrying a placard was Barbara Allen of Juno Beach, Fla. "We have the wrong people in Congress right now," Allen told WND. "There's 535 of them and there's a lot of bad guys in there on a bad mission and we need to counterattack and get 'em out. The bad mission is we're gonna be in a state of socialism here if we don't stop this nonsense of spending [and] spending." She stressed the tea partiers, who take their name from the 1773 Boston Tea Party, are promoting the principles of the U.S. Constitution. "We're about common sense. We're not about Democrat, Republican, Libertarian. We want our freedom. We don't want to lose our freedom." Warning: American Gestapo ahead ~ By Henry Lamb

By Henry Lamb Posted: July 04, 2009 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 Every July 4, we retreat to fireworks, feast and festival in celebration of an independence that is rapidly becoming little more than a memory. Our ancestors declared their independence in 1776 from a tyrannical, overbearing government. The independence claimed by the authors of the U.S. Constitution helped them create a government expressly prohibited from becoming tyrannical and overbearing, by limiting its power to certain enumerated responsibilities. Those limitations have long been ignored, and the current government makes no apology for its overbearing tyranny. Just as American independence was foreshadowed by a tea party in Boston, America's new independence is foreshadowed by tea parties across the nation. There is more evidence that a new declaration is being drafted. Currently, 36 states have approved or are considering some form of state sovereignty resolution. Several states are following Montana's example, enacting laws that defy federal intervention. More than a dozen states have enacted or are considering legislation that prohibits the federal government from imposing a mandatory National Animal Identification System. These are symptoms of a society that is dissatisfied with the long train of abuses government continues to inflict upon it. As the modern-day freedom fighters begin to organize and strategize, the government chooses not to reform, but to entrench and expand its control over the people. The similarity is remarkable, between the rise of the Democratic Socialist Party now in control of Washington and the rise of the National Socialist Workers Party of Germany in the 1930s. Led by an articulate orator, the German government set out to nationalize health care, transportation, manufacturing and law enforcement. The Obama government has set out to nationalize manufacturing of autos and the finance industry. The Obama-backed "cap and trade" legislation will effectively nationalize the energy and transportation industries. And Obama's nationalized health care program is on the front burner. Now here's another similarity: nationalization of law enforcement. H.R. 675, sponsored by Democrat Rep. Bob Filner, was introduced to:
Provide police officers, criminal investigators, and game law enforcement officers of the Department of Defense with the authority to execute warrants, make arrests, and carry firearms. (Emphasis added.)
Why do employees of the Department of Defense need the authority to execute warrants, make arrests and carry firearms? When the bill was introduced, Filner said: "We need to ensure that federal, state and local law enforcement are able to work together to apprehend criminals and to prevent and solve crimes." The 1878 Posse Comitatus Act explicitly prohibits the Department of Defense from involvement in state and local law enforcement activities. The feds have the FBI to investigate federal crimes and the Justice Department to prosecute federal crimes. Waco and Ruby Ridge are good examples of federal law enforcement. And the land management agencies have gun-totin' enforcement officers to prevent tourists from picking up arrowheads on federal property. Why do we need to authorize the secretary of defense to arm another domestic police force? Take a clue from the authorities granted by the bill:
To execute and serve warrants; To make arrests without warrants; To carry firearms; To enforce federal laws enacted to protect persons or property; To prevent breaches of the peace and suppress affrays or unlawful assemblies. …
There are other authorities, but let's focus on this last one: "To prevent breaches of the peace and suppress affrays or unlawful assemblies." What is an unlawful assembly? (SEE RELATED VIDEO BELOW) Any assembly that is not authorized by government is unlawful. Should an irate society decide to hold a tea party even if government refused to authorize it, then there must be a reliable federal law enforcement army to "suppress" the unlawful assembly. Local police cannot be trusted to "suppress" an assembly of their neighbors. [CONTINUE READING]

July 4th tea parties planned By James Q. Lynch Des Moines Bureau james.lynch@gazettecommunications.com It worked so well on Tax Day, organizers of protests against government taxing and spending policies will host another round of tea parties on the Fourth of July. There’s likely to be more emphasis on spending – the $787 billion federal stimulus plan, the multibillion dollar bailout packages for General Motors than at the April 15 tea parties that attracted thousands of participants in Iowa. “President Obama and the congressional Democrats are out of control,” Deborah Thornton of Iowa City said. She’s helping organize a rally in Coralville after the annual Fourth of July parade there. Plans for the rally have not been finalized. An Iowa City rally in April drew more than 300 people. In Cedar Rapids, Tim Pugh is organizing a rally and family picnic from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tree of Five Seasons at 105 1st Ave. NE. He’s hoping for 400 people – about the same number that participated April 15. In addition to spending, he said, people are concerned with new taxes, such as a tax on cellphones, being considered at various levels of government. More than 1,110 Fourth of July Taxed Enough Already tea parties are being planned by the American Family Association to let citizens voice their opposition to Obama’s spending plans that would result in record deficits. If government controlled health insurance is put into law, as Obama wants, the deficits will climb several trillion dollars higher, according to the group. This round of tea parties will build on the Tax Day rallies that drew 600,000 people, the American Family Association said. Thornton reported an uptick in attendance at Johnson County GOP meetings after that rally. Not all of the participants were Republicans, she added. “I keep adding names to my e-mail list every day,” she said. Likewise, Pugh said, a network of people has grown out of the Tax Day tea parties. They are communicating about issues and slowly organizing to lobby decision-makers. “In the long run, it will be good, but these sorts of things take time,” he said.

Why I'm having tea in Boiling Springs ~ By Alan Keyes

By Alan Keyes Posted: July 03, 2009 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 This weekend I'm heading for Boiling Springs, S.C., to join one of the many TEA party events that will be taking place around the country July 4. I received inquiries and interest from people involved in several of the events that are taking place; so why Boiling Springs? Because organizers there did not shy try to discourage me from presenting what I believe to be the true and essential message about the crisis the United States now faces. I believe it's a crisis that goes beyond Obama and his determination to drive America over the cliff of socialist self-destruction. It goes beyond the willingness of self-serving elites to plunge generations of Americans into enslaving national debt that will hollow out both our economic strength and our liberty. I cannot talk about the crisis that grips us today without reference to the collapse of moral principle and national character that lies at the root of it. The vote that severed colonial America's ties to Great Britain occurred on July 2, the day the Continental Congress adopted Richard Henry Lee's resolution that "these United Colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent States, that they are absolved from all allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain, is, and ought to be, totally dissolved." On July 4, therefore, we do not commemorate that fact of our nation's Independence but the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, the document in which Congress set forth the principles, facts and circumstances that justified an action everyone understood to be an irrevocable commitment to war with the British. Though grievances involving economic interests were partly responsible for the anger and resentment that fueled the push toward rebellion, the Declaration focused rather on the moral principles of right and justice as the basis for a decision that could only be sustained by force of arms. They knew better than to pretend that material damage can make sense of a decision that would probably result in the destruction of their material goods, and great loss of physical life. The moral principles they articulated, beginning with the self-evident truths of God-ordained human equality and natural rights, have been the basis for just about every advance in self-government and human dignity achieved in the course of America's history. Unfortunately, while pretending to care deeply for the plight of oppressed and unjustly abused humanity, the elites of our day are actually implementing an agenda that explicitly rejects the moral premises set forth in the Declaration. The premise of moral equality that requires that every human life be treated with equal respect has given way to a specious pursuit of material equality, though it require the sacrifice of millions of innocent lives along the way. The promotion of the so-called right to child murder prepares people to accept this calculus of death, which ultimately has Obama describing a system of government-controlled health care in which elderly people will be neglected and ultimately discarded on account of their physical frailty, rather than loved and respected for the real though intangible treasure of their spirit and moral character. Things have come so far that efforts to drive the moral perspective from our political discussions now extend across the divide that supposedly separates the Republican and Democratic parties. I was sad to learn that many of the people who expressed discomfort with the moral tenor of the message I feel obliged to deliver about the current crisis of our republic are Republicans, and purported conservatives. They apparently believe that any focus on the moral priorities will interfere with prospects for making political gains against the Obama faction. [CONTINUE READING]

FBI Spied on Tea Parties

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) conducted a clandestine monitoring operation of last week’s Tea Party protests, filming and cataloging the faces of hundreds of thousands of Americans who acted on their First Amendment right to Free Speech. The information comes from an FBI agent who leaked the information to The Canada Free Press. “Listen to what I am saying,” the agent said during an interview with Doug Hagmann, founder (NEIN). “The Department of Homeland Security Intelligence Assessment that is receiving so much attention is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg, and the true patriotic citizens of this country are on the Titanic. This is what bothers me. But is goes far beyond that assessment. There have been very significant changes made over the last few years that redirect the focus and assets of the intelligence community internally. These changes have greatly accelerated under this administration, and the threats have been redefined to include those who used to be patriots. Dems Attempt to Squash Anti-Socialist Revolts

Following the growing successes of the anti-socialist, anti-tax tea party demonstrations being held across the nation, Democrats are doing their best to squash the political uprising. With thousands of Americans standing up in protest to out of control government spending, the White House has stuck his head in the sand. When asked about the tea party demonstrations, the White House responded, “the president is unaware of the tea parties and will hold his own event today.” Maybe Obama plans to sick his Civilian National Security Force on the tea party-goers. Illinois liberal and Obama crony, Rep. Jan Schakowsky attacked the tea party demonstrators, calling them “despicable” and “shameful.” She answered, “the tea parties being held today by groups of right-wing activists, and fueled by FOX News Channel, are an effort to mislead the public about the Obama economic plan that cuts taxes for 95 percent of Americans and creates 3.5 million jobs.” Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi accused the grassroots efforts of being an “AstroTurf” disguise, controlled by the rich elite in an effort to maintain tax cuts for the rich. She explained, “they want [a] continuation of the failed economic policies of George Bush, which got us into the situation we’re in now.” She continued, “…this [tea party] initiative is funded by the high end. We call it AstroTurf. 1 million attend tea parties in 50 states ~ By Jerome Corsi and Chelsea Schilling

'Obama has awakened a sleeping giant' By Jerome Corsi and Chelsea Schilling © 2009 WorldNetDaily An estimated 1 million Americans participated in at least 1,000 tea parties, according to reports by organizers tabulating the nationwide numbers, with documented protests held in 50 states. Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform told WND, "The Obama administration has awakened a sleeping giant." Tax Day Tea Party national event coordinator Amy Kremer told WND she has confirmed that more than 850 parties took place. She has at least 100 more reports in her e-mail inbox that have not been posted. Asked how many people attended the events, she responded, "I would estimate it at over 1 million. I'm waiting on more numbers to come in from organizers right now. I can tell you it is absolutely over 750,000 right now." The largest protests occurred in Atlanta, Ga., with 15,000 participants. As many as 10,000 protesters participating in Sacramento, Calif., and Overland Park, Kan., according to data compiled by Americans for Tax Reform on more than 207 tea parties. Americans for Tax Reform has established an Internet page on the group's website where organizers of tea parties can submit attendance estimates to be included in the running tally. Michael DePrimo, special counsel to American Family Aassociation President Tim Wildmon, told WND that AFA's tea party website, Tea Party Day, had 2,031 confirmations that tea parties were to be held in as many cities. "Since yesterday, we have had 394 cities give us reports, many with photographs, about the tea parties that were held," he said. "We have not been able to get all the information up. We expect more to come in as the days go by." ACORN Engages in Destructive Activity Against Tea Parties!

When the story first broke 2 weeks ago that ACORN and other Leftwing groups may attempt to disrupt the Tax Day Tea Party protests today, ACORN denied the story. But now we have confirmation on the local level that proves the group is intent on doing all it can to disrupt, thwart, and embarrass the Tea Party attendees. From the article:
ACORN is on a mission to infiltrate the tea parties all across the land to start fights and make the others who attend all look disorganized and troublesome. To go at great lengths to see to it, Obama has a clear and free pass is a bit extreme, but this is how an organization like ACORN rolls. Obama had no comment when he was asked about the community group accused of election fixing. Obama helped organize ACORN, and a no answer is not necessarily a not guilty answer.

New song recognizes 'tea party' movement
