The rich don't pay, they leave ~ By John Stossel

John Stossel's column this week is about higher taxes for "the wealthy" and whether or not it will help the economy or lower the national debt or annual budget deficits. Will higher taxes on the wealthy actually increase tax revenues? Or, will it hurt the economy even more?

The following video of John Stossel talking with Bill O'Reilly discusses most of the points made in this column.  There is a short discussion about Stossel's conversation with a union boss, but the rest of the video will cover the subject of this column:

Bill O'Reilly: John Stossel vs Unions And Taxes On The Wealthy

Video provided by iwanttomarrycarrie

So, you see, it's really all about class warfare. The left wants to have us all believe that the rich are just greedy individuals that should be punished by high taxes. In the meanwhile, the economy continues to be stagnate. There are many of us that believe the "rich" are the ones that will use available funds to invest in capital assets, which stimulates the economy. Take away their funds by higher taxes and you will see less j0bs being created by the private sector.

Combine higher taxes on wealthier people with the uncertainty of not knowing what the tax rates will be, not knowing how everything in the Obamacare legislation will affect their businesses, and wondering if further Obama agenda like cap and tax or card check will be enacted in the lame duck session, keeps private investment down. Those things not only hurt the "rich," but it will hurt anyone hunting for a job.

My preference for getting the economy back on track would be to not only extend the Bush era tax cuts, I would give business owners more incentives by even further cuts in taxes and increasing the confidence and certainty by making the tax cuts permanent. Just sayin'...

Art Laffer, the economist who has a curve illustrating this point named after him, isn't surprised.

"It's just economics," he says. "People don't work to pay taxes. People work to get what they can after tax. They'll change where they earn their income. They'll change how they earn their income. They'll change how much they earn, when they receive the income. They'll change all of those things to minimize taxes."

We can see it in the statistics. In 1960, federal revenues were 18.6 percent of total output. Over the next 50 years, that percentage has rarely exceeded 20 percent or fallen below 17 percent. As Laffer says, people adjust their activities to the tax burden.

Progressives want to raise taxes on individuals who make more than $200,000 a year because they say it's wrong for the rich to be "given" more money. Sunday's New York Times carries a cartoon showing Uncle Sam handing money to a fat cat. They just don't get it.

As I've said before, a tax cut is not a handout. It simply means government steals less. What progressives want to do is take money from some – by force – and spend it on others. It sounds less noble when plainly stated.

That's the moral side of the matter. There's a practical side, too. Taxes discourage wealth creation. That hurts everyone, the lower end of the income scale most of all. An economy that, through freedom, encourages the production of wealth raises the living standards of lower-income people as well as everyone else.

A free society is not a zero-sum game in which every gain is offset by someone's loss. As long as government keeps its thumb off the scales, the "makers" who get rich do so by making others better off. When the government allocates capital or creates barriers to competition, however, all bets are off.

Of course, this is not the prevailing view among the intelligentsia.

Columbia University Professor Marc Lamont Hill tells me, "Those who have more should pay more."

But is there a point where they stop producing wealth or leave altogether?

"The rich have always cried wolf like that," Hill says.

But the wolf is here. Maryland created a special tax on rich people that was supposed to bring in $106 million. Instead, the state lost $257 million.

Former Gov. Robert Ehrlich, who is running again for his old job, says: "It reminds me of Charlie Brown. Charlie Brown was always surprised when Lucy pulled the football away. And they're always surprised in Washington and state capitals when the dollars never come in."

Some of Maryland's rich left the state.

"They're out of here. These people aren't stupid," Ehrlich says.

New York billionaire Tom Golisano isn't stupid, either. With $3,000 and one employee, he started a business that processes paychecks for companies. He created 13,000 jobs.

Then New York state hiked the income tax on millionaires.

"It was the straw that broke the camel's back," he says. "Not that I like to throw the number around, but my personal income tax last year would've been $13,800 a day. Would you like to write a check for $13,800 a day to a state government, as opposed to moving to another state where there's no state income tax or very low state income tax?"

He established residence in Florida, which has no personal income tax.

Presidency in free fall ~ By Herman Cain

Liberty or tyranny. Freedom or slavery. We still have the choice. Why do you think I am so desperately trying to get out the truth? Whether here or on my youtube channel, I do my best to get a whole lot of attention; not to me, but to the people that know how to make a whole lot of sense.

Video provided by TheREALjohnny2k

So, I put the stuff out there, as much as I have time to do, on a daily basis. Believe me, I soak in a lot more information than I can ever have time to deliver to you. Every day, I am faced with decisions about what to produce. This column or that column, this news segment or that news segment. I have to decide what will do the most good towards the goal of spreading the idea of liberty.

So, I had to make that same decision once again last night. Not only did I want to pick the right column to put on this blog, but also which videos I wanted to include with it. (That's something I have been doing a lot more of lately; putting related videos with the columns I post is a time-consuming part of the projects.)

And the most difficult thing is knowing all the disparaging of tea partiers that I would like to be able to counter, and not having any more time than I do, I have to decide what to post or upload (video) that will counter the normal everyday slander.

But to see what has happened in the last three months has broken my heart, but not my spirit. I have been saddened by a drastic decrease in the views to this blog site. But yet, maybe there is something good from that. It does not mean that somebody won't come along and say, "Hey, I never heard about this stuff before, I wasn't aware of people like Herman Cain."

It is why I do what I do. Just hoping that one of you learns something that I had to learn along the way. It isn't about gaining fame and fortune. I know I am not going to reach millions of people. I'll leave that to the professionals, like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Herman Cain. Just sayin'...

Many congressional Democrats running for re-election are distancing themselves from the president, the health-care deform bill and the Cap-and-Trade-and-Tax-and-Kill bill. And they don't even talk about all of the spending, which has not been the solution to economic growth. In fact, they want to spend more!

And now the Democrats have decided to wait until after the November elections to pass legislation on the expiring current tax rates. This is a signal that the president and the Democrats are going to raise taxes. We just do not know whether it will be on all of us or some of us.

Instead of a parachute, this president and Congress are determined to put this economy and nation into a nose dive.
Presidency in free fall

In less than two years, this presidency has produced an unprecedented turnover rate of top administration advisers, a failed stimulus spending bill, failed economic policies that have left the economy stalled, much higher than expected unemployment, a hugely unpopular health-care bill, a financial regulatory deform bill, a list of expensive and poorly executed populist programs that flopped, out-of-control federal spending, uncertainty about success with the war in Afghanistan and increased tensions with Iran, North Korea and China.

Millions of voters have come to realize that this presidency lacks leadership, direction, decisiveness, economic urgency and, most of all, solutions. This combination of deficiencies has produced a more than uninspired citizenry, except for the most loyal and misled supporters of the president.

And just like the Obama supporter who confronted the president at a supposedly friendly town-hall meeting last week, people are exhausted from listening to all of the failed attempts to spin failures into successes with speeches and media sound bites.

A disheartened Obama supporter called my radio show last week and asked if I could name one thing that Obama had done right, since it seemed to him that all I talk about are the things that have not worked. I honestly tried to think of something significantly positive, but I could not. There have been too many disappointments and broken campaign promises.

This presidency is in free-fall, which means this nation is in free-fall.

But after further reflection, there is something this presidency has inspired. With the help of an incompetently led Congress, Obama has successfully awakened a citizen's movement that has stunned the political establishment in both parties.

Herman Cain : We the People

Video provided by GAFrontPage

The political establishment and the Obama media call it those tea-party people. They can't seem to understand why people are upset. Maybe they're not listening.

The administration, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, other Democrats, the Obama mainstream media and other liberals have responded to the citizens' movement with nothing but name-calling attacks on the tea-party people. Those tactics have not worked. In fact, they appear to have further energized the citizen's movement. Demonization and intimidation of "We the People" is not working.

Cruising toward destruction ~ By Patrice Lewis

Remember these words you will hear people say: "It can't happen here." Patrice Lewis, in this very powerful column, discusses what is happening in America, and how it parallels Austria in the late 1930's. This column will discuss facts that are based on a column, "Don’t Let Freedom Slip Away," by Kitty Werthmann.

First, Patrice writes about what happened in Austria in 1938 and how it got started, summarizing Kitty's column:

A broken economy is what started the Austrians down this path. Hungry, unemployed and scared, they voted 98 percent to annex Austria to Germany and have that guy with the funny mustache solve their problems. After all, he had all the answers.

And at first, it worked. Unemployment virtually disappeared. Everyone was fed. Women received equal rights. Then education became secularized. Compulsory service in the labor corps was implemented. Daycare became available 24/7. Health care became socialized and free. "All day care and education were free," writes Werthmann. "High schools were taken over by the government, and college tuition was subsidized. Everyone was entitled to free handouts, such as food stamps, clothing and housing." Anyone who said something against the government was taken away. Undesirables were euthanized. Guns were registered and later confiscated.

Tra la la, does this sound familiar? Does anyone on the progressive side of the spectrum see the eerie similarities, or do they still claim it can't happen here?
Okay, maybe that just sounds so implausible. Euthanization? That could never happen here in America! (Of course not. In America, they just take people off life support because the insurance company won't pay for it after a short period of time.)

But, never mind, because there are other things that were done in Austria, and are pretty much being done now, here in America, that don't sound quite so implausible. From her column, Kitty describes how the economy was being run after the Nazi's took over:

We had another agency designed to monitor business. My brother-in-law owned a restaurant that had square tables. Government officials told him he had to replace them with round tables because people might bump themselves on the corners. Then they said he had to have additional bathroom facilities. It was just a small dairy business with a snack bar. He couldn’t meet all the demands. Soon, he went out of business. If the government owned the large businesses and not many small ones existed, it could be in control.

We had consumer protection. We were told how to shop and what to buy. Free enterprise was essentially abolished. We had a planning agency specially designed for farmers. The agents would go to the farms, count the live-stock, then tell the farmers what to produce, and how to produce it.
Well, again, let me just repeat what Patrice had written above: "... does this sound familiar? Does anyone on the progressive side of the spectrum see the eerie similarities, or do they still claim it can't happen here?" Just sayin'...
Once upon a time, there was a solution to this inevitable collapse and subsequent totalitarianism. That solution was to toss out the massive bureaucratic nightmare into which our government has mushroomed, and instead embrace the streamlined plan originally outlined when our nation was founded.

Sadly, I fear it is too late. Our debt is too high, our entitlements too entrenched and our apathy is too deep. And the "funny" people with all the bright ideas are already in place. For citizens caught up in this unfolding economic nightmare, I can only suggest you Pray, Prepare and Participate.

The Pray and Prepare parts are obvious, but what do I mean by Participate? I mean vote. Rally. March. E-mail. Don't let our guns, our speech and our other freedoms dissolve any more than they already have. Watch out for funny guys who promise solutions to all our problems as long as we give up something in exchange.

Remember, please remember, that those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. I really don't want to live in 1938 Austria.

The Titanic
My husband and I have always wanted to take a cruise to Alaska. Sounds fun, doesn't it? The luxury, the scenery, the freedom from responsibility. Despite the fact that we couldn't afford it, we decided to borrow money to take a cruise.

Well the cruise was wonderful, though now we have to borrow money to make the loan payments on the cruise, as well as borrow more money to make the interest payments on the loan. But we loved that cruise so much we're booking another one next year. It's OK, we can borrow the money. We plan to take another cruise the year after. And the year after that. And the year after that.

Meanwhile, we'll blame someone – anyone – for the fact that we're so deeply in debt. I think I'll blame, um, my brother. It's not our fault that we can't stop ourselves from digging the debt hole deeper, or that much of the debt is incurred for frivolous reasons. It's my brother's fault.

What's wrong with this picture? If you're the federal government, apparently nothing.

We now know that the actual figure of America's debt is much higher than the petty and trivial sum of $14.3 trillion given by the Congressional Budget Office. And make no mistake, $14.3 trillion is not pocket change (for a knock-you-flat visual of a trillion dollars, click here).

"The Government is lying about the amount of debt. It is engaging in Enron accounting," says Laurence Kotlikoff, an economist at Boston University. That's because the CBO doesn't count the euphemistically called "off-budget" obligations like Social Security and Medicare. (This is like my husband and I deeming our mythical cruise payments to be "off-budget" in our yearly expenses.)

So how much does our nation owe? Mr. Kotlikoff says the debt is actually $200 trillion – 14 times the "official" amount. That's a lot of cruises. And our nation is taking more and more trips.

Does this sound sustainable to you?
Sinking the Good Ship America

Of course not. How can America possibly pay back $200 trillion? It can't. Sooner or later the people who keep lending us money will stop. When that happens, I see no possible alternative except a collapse of our national economy.

The danger of a financial collapse goes beyond the day-to-day struggles of Joe Sixpack. The danger is that Americans will look for solutions in all the wrong places, the same way Germany and Austria looked for solutions to its debt and inflation problems in the 1930s. Their solution took the form of a failed artist with a funny mustache who told people what they wanted to hear and promised to make it all better by blaming someone else. (The Jews were a convenient target since my brother wasn't born yet.)

In 1938, an Austrian woman named Kitty Werthmann was an eyewitness to the creeping totalitarianism of Hitler's Germany. Now living in South Dakota, she wrote an eerie and horrifying account of what happened during her childhood. It's easy to understand the horrifying part. But it's eerie because we are following, virtually word for word, the same path in this country, albeit at a slower pace.

"Totalitarianism didn't come quickly," writes Werthmann. "It took five years from 1938 until 1943 to realize full dictatorship in Austria. Had it happened overnight, my countrymen would have fought to the last breath. Instead, we had creeping gradualism. Now, our only weapons were broom handles. The whole idea sounds almost unbelievable that the state, little by little, eroded our freedom."

My final thoughts on this column with the help of a classic cartoon from 50 years ago: "Watch out for funny guys who promise solutions to all our problems as long as we give up something in exchange."

Oh, before you go, just one more thing. When you hear them say, "It's for the children," be afraid. Be very afraid. This is the elixir of the snake-oil salesman. Don't give up your freedom in exchange for government promises to take care of you from cradle to grave.

Look out for a lame duck ~ By Henry Lamb

Henry Lamb lists some of the bills that the Democrats would like to pass during the lame-duck session, which is the period of time following the election on November 2 through the end of the year before the new Congress takes their seats at the beginning 2011.

What happens if any of these bills are passed - and I repeat, any of them - would be so "transformative" that you would not be able to recognize America as you know it now. Just sayin'...

These are only a few of the long list of transformative policies Obama and the Democrats plan to impose on an unsuspecting people. Fortunately, there are enough people watching and reporting that these bills have been blocked so far. The lame-duck session is another matter, however.
Paul Ryan: Prepare for a Costly Lame Duck Session

Video provided by RepPaulRyan on June 25, 2010
There is a strong possibility that the Democrats can lose control of the House, and perhaps the Senate, in the elections Nov. 2. This result is far from a sure thing. Every eligible American must make every effort to vote this year, and vote for the best conservative candidate available. Family, friends and neighbors need to be reminded of the importance of voting this year.

We are just a little more than a month away from the opportunity to save the nation from a generation of Marxist policies now being forced down the nation's throat by a radical Democrat majority.

Let's change that majority.
Look out for a lame duck

Editor's note: Listen to this column online.

As the calendar rushes toward the Nov. 2 elections, prospects increase for a bloody "lame-duck" session. There is a laundry list of bills stacked up for passage that have not yet made it to the floor for a vote. After the elections, Democrats who lost will have nothing further to lose and will be eager to get as much of Obama's radical agenda enacted as possible.

Lurking in the shadows is Sen. Chris Dodd's Livable Communities Act (S.1619). This bill will essentially write into domestic law the recommendation set forth in Chapter 10 of Agenda 21.

Video provided by henryzeke on June 01, 2010

Since the Clinton era, the federal government has been enticing and coercing local governments to transform their communities into "sustainable communities," as defined by Agenda 21. The Dodd bill brings down the heavy hand of government to force communities to conform. The implementation of Dodd's "livable" or sustainable communities forces the loss of individual freedom, serious reduction of private property rights and the erosion of a free market in real estate.

If enacted during the lame duck session, it must be repealed by the new Congress.

Sen. Feingold's Clean Water Restoration Act (S.787) is high on the priority list for passage. This bill would give to the federal government virtually every drop of water that falls on the United States to the federal government, regardless of whether it winds up in a river, a lake, a stream, a wetland, a prairie pothole, a mud hole or backyard fish pond on private property. Moreover, the bill also gives to the federal government authority to control all activity that may affect these waters, whether the activity occurs on private or public property.

Video provided by henryzeke on May 02, 2009

Should this bill become law, it will have to be repealed by the new Congress.

Rep. George Miller's Employee Free Choice Act (H.R.1409), also known as "Card Check" is sure to be on the list for emergency passage. In the House, this bill has 240 co-sponsors; the Senate companion bill (S.560) has 40 co-sponsors. This bill eliminates the right of businesses and workers to conduct an election to determine whether a particular business will become unionized. Card Check allows union bosses to secure a signature on a card from workers in a target business any way they wish. When more than 50 percent of the workers have signed a card, then the business is unionized.

Video provided by lmohrfeld1 on October 03, 2008

This bill is important to President Obama, and to the Democrats, to repay the unions for their financial support during the 2008 election cycle. The unions poured millions of dollars into Democratic campaigns and provided countless workers in well-organized, get-out-the-vote programs. Labor unions expect, no, demand, Card Check as repayment for their efforts.

This bill would certainly have to be repealed were it enacted in a lame-duck session.

Still not getting it ~ By Robert Ringer

Shamefully, a number of establishment Republicans have borrowed the favorite strategy of the left: Isolate and disparage your opponent. It's like the last gasp of a dying dinosaur. Christine O'Donnell has been broke most of her life. Christine O'Donnell had a tax lien filed against her. And Christine O'Donnell lost her home through foreclosure as a result of that tax lien.

Calling all RINOS: Tea-party voters do not view these as negatives. Christine O'Donnell is us! She represents everything tea-party people are mad about. Tax liens make them angry at Washington, not at the person who is on the receiving end of the tax lien. Foreclosures make them mad at Washington, which is the real source of most people's financial problems, not at the person whose house has been foreclosed.
Before you read on, there is something to straighten out concerning what Robert wrote about Christine O'Donnell's tax lien and financial problems. Because of the way the media has gone after Christine on her personal life rather than on the issues, it is important that we know the truth about this candidate. In the video below, starting at 6:10, she gives her side of the story about the tax lien and other financial issues. However, I recommend that you watch the entire video of this segment:

Christine O'Donnell on Hannity - Part 1

Video provided by TheREALjohnny2k

Robert Ringer says something in this column that I have been saying, or at least thinking, for a long, long time: "They want everyday folks to go to Washington." Unfortunately, that is getting harder and harder for everyday people to be able to do because of the growing campaign costs. However, as Christine O'Donnell has shown, it can be done, at least in her primary victory over Mike Castle. She did it with a tenth of the money that Castle spent, and surely much less name recognition. I am hoping that her victory will prove to the Beltway establishment Republicans just how important the Tea Party Movement is. I am also praying that it will encourage other patriots to step up to the plate to take on the establishment politicians from either party, at all levels of government. Just sayin'...
Tea-party voters are savvy enough to realize that none of Christine O'Donnell's personal misfortunes would stop her from voting no to every unconstitutional spending bill served up by congressional progressives. That is what they are looking for in a candidate.

Say what you will about Sarah Palin, she gets it. So does Michele Bachmann, Paul Ryan, Jim DeMint, Ron Paul, Tom Price and a bunch of other tea-party types in the House and Senate. None of them are perfect when it comes to voting – it's an ugly, rough-and-tumble contact sport up there on Capitol Hill – but they're at least making a sincere effort to dramatically reduce government spending and government power. If all Republicans in the House and Senate were in line with them, the future of both our economy and our freedom would look much different than it does today.

Half or more of the American people don't want candidates with experience. They don't want candidates with blue-ribbon credentials. They don't want candidates with Kennedy-like pedigrees. They want everyday folks to go to Washington and repeal Health-care Hell and every other piece of legislation that is unconstitutional. And, yes, they want all entitlement programs phased out.
Still not getting it
By Robert Ringer

By now, people should be beyond surprise when a tea-party candidate upsets an establishment Democrat or Republican – either in a primary or regular election. After all, they've had a year to get used to it.

Nevertheless, the tidal wave of tea-party-candidate victories continues to surprise – and upset – many media pundits and, even more so, establishment politicians. Every possible attempt has been made to marginalize the tea-party people as extremists, but I think it's safe to say that that's a battle that was over a long time ago – and the losers were the hate-mongering left and disbelievers on the establishment right.

But now we've crossed into a danger zone. Trent Lott says that "As soon as (newly elected tea-party people) get here, we need to co-opt them." And, once again displaying the RINO willingness to compromise principles, House Republican Leader John Boehner said, on "Face the Nation," that he would vote for a tax cuts for people making under $250,000 a year (leaving out those with incomes higher than $250,000) if that's his "only option."

Finally, the shocker: The ever-astute Karl Rove, who has been a strong tea-party supporter, allowed a bit of establishment bias to surface when he lambasted the tea party's newest star, Christine O'Donnell. I have no doubts that Rove sincerely believes that establishment candidate Mike Castle, a nine-term congressman, had a much better chance of winning Joe Biden's old Senate seat in Delaware than O'Donnell.

But that misses the point. In fact, in an unintended way, the great non-entity David Gergen – of CNN non-fame – made the best case against Castle by lamenting, "O'Donnell's opponent knew how to work with Democrats." How's that for an endorsement?

The question is, what do establishment Republicans think they would have gained by Castle's election to the Senate? The notion that the Republican's main goal should be to get majorities in both the House and Senate is badly flawed. Having a majority doesn't mean anything if a significant number of that majority repeatedly backs socialist bills offered up by Democrats. They may just as well be Democrats.

So long as Republicans in the Senate include constitutionally subversive progressives like John McCain, Richard Lugar, Orrin Hatch, Susan Collins, Lindsey Graham and Olympia Snowe – to name but a handful of examples – having a "majority" is meaningless.

What a large number of Republicans cannot seem to come to grips with is that tea-party people are simply everyday Americans. In fact, most tea-party people have never gone to a tea-party rally, but feel just as strongly about what is happening to America as those who are actively involved in the movement.

If there is any hope for the Republican Party to survive, the word compromise must be eradicated from the minds of philosophically confused "conservatives" in their ranks. You cannot compromise between right and wrong. You cannot compromise between freedom and slavery. You cannot comprise between stealing and respecting the property of others. You cannot compromise between constitutional and unconstitutional.

Wake up! He's a communist! ~ By Erik Rush

Or, how about Obama signing executive order No. 13544, which officially adopted the Codex Alimentarius, a policy against which business interests have been fighting for decades? This one – a stealth proviso of Obamacare, by the by – is intended to bring access to all vitamins, minerals and natural health remedies and technologies under government control. This means that Washington can now classify all of these as "controlled" – like prescription drugs.
No, I can't believe that I live in an America where the Food and Drug Administration will be controlling "all vitamins, minerals and natural health remedies and technologies," but that's just the beginning. Listen to what Glenn Beck had to say about various forms of government control:

Glenn Beck - I can't believe that I live in an America where (fill in the blank)

Video provided by TheREALjohnny2k

It just happened that the above Glenn Beck segment on his TV show aired earlier this week, and it is very compelling when combined with this column. In the segment, Glenn mentions that "this is only the beginning" of the cycle. Dang, how much worse could it get? Unfortunately, Erik answers that question, and it isn't pretty:

When what we eat, drink, drive, say, do for a living, how much money we make and where we live is dictated by our government, those who were dedicated liberal voters will grit their teeth because they're too arrogant to ever admit they were wrong. When pockets of the stunned, deluded variety of liberal voters finally put down their bongs and declare "Hey, man – you can't, like, do this to us! We have rights …" – they're going to catch a bullet in the head.

Small consolation this will be to patriotic Americans, since we'll already be dead or in a gulag by then.
Can the loss of our freedoms wake up enough people that we can put a stop to the Obamacide of our liberty? Is it enough to wake up the bong smokers? Will we be able to stop the progress toward communism before it is too late... or, is it already too late? Just sayin'...
To put it succinctly, our government is occupied by malevolent, treasonous slime, and it's going to take years to extricate all of them, even with a majority of Americans dedicated to the wholesale eradication of progressivism – which is an absolute imperative. This societal infection is so profoundly and fundamentally destructive that if I had my way, anyone willing to accept it would be stripped of their citizenship.

That said, I don't always get my way, and conscientious Americans obey the law, even if progressives do not. Hopefully, this will not lead to our undoing. Were it not for the fact that so many Americans now know that which I have outlined here and have reacted accordingly, I shudder to think what the depth of my despair might be.
Wake up! He's a communist!

Make no mistake: The political struggle currently ensuing in America has long since ceased to be one of well-intentioned citizens disagreeing over policy. This is a matter of devoted, mainstream, well-informed Americans resisting the subjugation of our nation by communist operatives and their coalition of deceived supporters and committed acolytes.

Even the reader who is new to this column will have observed the increased intensity of political rhetoric over the last two years. Prior to the 2008 election, voices warning against a Barack Hussein Obama presidency may have been background noise to the casual news consumer; after all, every candidate has their detractors.

Over the last 20 months, between the actions and policies of the Obama administration and developments that have taken place as a result of same, the background has become very much foreground. The machinations and designs of the administration have carried more urgency, and their words have become shrill. Likewise, terms like "progressive" and "socialist" have increasingly been replaced with "Marxist," "communist" and "totalitarian" by their opposition.

Obviously, if only a few fringe types were employing such potent terminology, it could be easily dismissed. With hundreds of thousands of Americans mobilized, millions blogging and organizing, an emergent arm of the press dedicating itself to stifling the momentum of this government and even some conservative Hollywood celebrities coming "out of the arsenal" to join their voices with these, however, the gravity of these expressions cannot be ignored.

Like a host of pundits and legions of voters, I was appalled and indignant over the reaction of the political left and Republican elites to Republican Christine O'Donnell's primary win over Mike Castle in the Delaware senatorial race. Leading off the litany of unfounded tripe with which the left assailed Ms. O'Donnell were the tired, nebulous accusations of her being too extreme. Within hours of this, I was treated to the very same indictment of the tea party-backed GOP candidate for the Senate in my state, via a television advertisement.

So is nationalism now more "extreme" than communism? Because nationalism is what we need, and communism is what we're getting.

You want extremism? How about the president appointing yet another anti-capitalist radical in Elizabeth Warren as the non-titular head of the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, while circumventing Senate confirmation, to occupy an office devoid of political regulation? A woman who claims that capitalism doesn't work – which admittedly it tends not to when government regulates business into near-insolvency, overtaxes companies and individuals and makes minimum wage demands that artificially drive up consumer prices.

Thank God that so many Americans are finally realizing that people like Elizabeth Warren and Barack Obama have, over time, maneuvered us into a position economically wherein it appears that capitalism doesn't work, so that they might make that very claim!

Americans not poisoned by 'chemtrails' ~ By Phil Elmore

When those ideas are not well-received, the true believers demand that nonbelievers "wake up," presumably because failure to embrace the conspiracy is an act of apathy or laziness. If sufficiently prodded, they will begin angrily accusing skeptics and critics alike of being paid off or otherwise taking part in the vast conspiracy in question.
In the video (see below) that Phil discusses in the column, oddly enough, there was a comment that illustrates what Phil mentions above:
Comment by UkTruthSeeker2009:

The sky in the video is what our sky looks like 99% of the time in UK.

Yes the view count is excellent but I bet it wont make it on NEWS Channels like other Youtube videos that are getting good hits. I wish to God it would though Wake all those sheople up good and proper!! (Emphasis my own)

Great video Tankerenemy.

Video provided by tankerenemy

But truth be told, I have wondered about some of the contrails that I have seen in the sky. I've seen the weird patterns, and contrails that turn into large clouds, and days when some jets don't leave a contrail while others do. In the video below, there are some still pictures worked into a montage. Some of those pictures look familiar to sights I have seen.

Video provided by sozei

The above video contained a few scenes that refer to the "chemtrails" as being some kind of "Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy," as in poisoning the people or mind control. I have never thought the contrails were because of any malevolent government attack on people. However, I have wondered if some of the "chemtrails" are possibly related to weather manipulation or experiments to see if "global warming" could be slowed down with climate control. Just sayin'...

It must be truly exhausting to be a conspiracy theorist. Believers in these nonsensical myths must spend every day in a flop-sweating state of stark terror, convinced that everything around them is dangerous and everything beyond their control is a coordinated campaign to harm them. The consumer products in their homes are all contaminated. The water coming from their pipes is laced with Nazi-era mind-control industrial waste toxins. The skies above them are filled with black helicopters – and above those helicopters, jet aircraft spray biochemical warfare agents among the clouds, to some vaguely evil end that can spell nothing but certain doom.

There is no chemtrail threat. Isolated abuses of power are not an organized, secret campaign to spray you with poison or germs. If you believe otherwise, you have some serious growing up to do.

Look to the sky on a sunny day. There's a good chance you'll see something that looks out of place in nature. If nature abhors the straight line, the contrail that sometimes appears behind a jet aircraft is anything but a natural cloud.

A contrail is, according to the Free Online Dictionary, "A visible trail of streaks of condensed water vapor or ice crystals sometimes forming in the wake of an aircraft." It is, in other words, harmless; it's what happens when the laws of physics hold sway over the actions and constructs of humanity. Sadly, a disturbingly large group of people who otherwise seem to be reasoning, functioning adults believe that contrails in the sky are really chemtrails – an insidious government plot to control or otherwise experiment on an unknowing populace.

Except that this isn't true.

The idea that chemtrails menace us from the skies isn't just absurd. There's simply no real evidence for it. The "proof" that is presented for the existence of chemtrails can easily be debunked or dismissed. There are few if any exceptions.

Take this posting, for example, from a survivalist blog whose author I follow on Twitter. The post is presented as video "proof" of the spraying of chemicals in the atmosphere. The author writes,
A pilot shoots a chemical plane from his cockpit: the video shows an aircraft that spread chemtrails over Canada from the nozzles. The footage is the irrefutable proof of a chemical and clandestine operation that a bold pilot offers to the public in order to demonstrate that chemtrails are real. The "smoke" we can see is neither a fuel dumping nor a contrail. The chemtrails, in fact, is iridescent too. Don't listen to hoaxers who repeat that this document is false or similar lies.
The problem, of course, is that the video is a hoax – or rather, it isn't the proof it has been touted to be, nor was it ever such evidence. It took only a few seconds of searching to find an explanation for the original piece:
[The video] very clearly shows aerodynamic contrails coming from the wings of a KC-10. The pilots on the cockpit are heard joking about it being "chemtrails." [The conspiracy theorist who reposted the video as proof of chemtrails], not being a native English speaker, misses this and thinks they are being serious. He then goes on to "analyze" the video, and points to the flap mechanisms as being nozzels [sic].
The site Contrail Science, in fact, contains a wealth of calmly, methodically presented material thoroughly debunking chemtrail mythology. I have to admit that I was disappointed, when I set out to write a column on the topic, to discover that the work had already been done.

While isolated cases of government abuse of power – including chemical experimentation on unwitting citizens – most certainly do exist, they are the exceptions. They are such exceptions, in fact, that they are cited repeatedly as examples of government malfeasance. The Tuskegee Experiment, the infamous human radiation experiments in Rochester, N.Y., these are burned into Americans' collective memory. It is incidents like these that fill an ever-growing list of government misdeeds. But does Ashland, Ore., really belong on that list? Are chemtrails truly the threat their believers wish you to accept?

Obviously, they are not, but a conspiracy's true believers always conform to certain patterns of behavior. They incorrectly attribute to a conspiracy perfectly natural or benign phenomena that have mundane explanations. They cherry pick data that "proves" their theories while selectively ignoring information that refutes those ideas. They claim that any information not available to support their assertions has been "suppressed," while any information proving them wrong is misinformation promulgated by the malevolent entities they blame for furthering the conspiracy itself. In so doing, they build a framework from which they can shout their ridiculous ideas to the benighted masses.

Dueling demonstrations ~ By Henry Lamb

While the morons on the left are calling Americans to the Lincoln Memorial on October 2, Henry Lamb is calling Americans who want to Restore Honor to the ballot boxes on November 2, 2010.

I found the following video from the 8/28/10 Restoring Honor event to be very appropriate to emphasize Henry's point:

America Calling - the 828 Restoring Honor Rally

Photos from the 828 Restoring Honor Rally in DC, featuring a new song from award-winning composer Gregg Opelka combined with photos from his brother Mike Opelka.

Lead vocal: Rich Perez
Backup vocals: John Stemberg, Pamela Rose

Guitar: Ron Brandt
Drums: Michael Cascio
Trumpet: Mike Combopiano
Music and lyrics, keyboards: Gregg Opelka

Yes, America was calling all everyday people that believe in Freedom and the Constitution of the United States to travel across the country to go to the Restoring Honor rally at the foot of the Lincoln Memorial on 8/28/10. And now, America is calling those same people, plus many more, to vote on November 2, 2010.

What Henry's column is saying to us is that the socialists believe that they can transform America, but that they don't really understand that most Americans are becoming aware of their objectives. And as more Americans become aware, they will make sure that they are at the polls on November 2. There will be some surprises for the progressives, a.k.a. socialists, when they see their candidates go down in defeat. Just sayin'...

UPDATE September 20, 2010

I just found this video that I want to include with this post:

Restoring Honor (Song)

Video provided by bluesfuzion
The purpose of the demonstration on Oct. 2 is to convince America, and the world, that there are more people in American who prefer a socialist agenda than there are people who prefer the principles of freedom set forth in the U.S. Constitution.

Regardless of the number of people who show up at the Lincoln Memorial on Oct. 2, it will prove only that the socialists have more money and are better organized than plain, old, everyday Americans. What really matters, however, is not the number of socialists who go to Washington on Oct. 2, but the number of everyday Americans who go to the polls on Nov. 2.

Glenn Beck did not awaken everyday Americans nearly as much as did Barack Hussein Obama. Beck just helped everyday Americans see the socialists Obama brought into the administration and the socialist agenda Obama is imposing.

The socialists' Oct. 2 rally is calling for an even more radical transformation of America; the Nov. 2 rally at election booths across the nation will echo Beck's call to restore honor to America by returning to God and to the principles of freedom enshrined in the U. S. Constitution.

The progressive world was shocked by the throngs of people who gathered at the Lincoln Memorial on Aug. 28 in response to Glenn Beck's call to attend his "Restoring Honor" rally. Crowd estimates ranged from 87,000 to more than 500,000, which liberal media talking heads discounted as little more than the number of tourists in Washington on any given day.

Across town, Rev. Al Sharpton complained about Beck's attempt to hijack Martin Luther King's dream – to a few hundred of his faithful followers.

Within hours of Beck's event, the progressive world announced its bigger and better demonstration to be held at the Lincoln Memorial on Oct. 2, one month before Election Day. Their event is called "One World Working Together." More than 150 organizations are promoting this event. Even a casual review of the mission statement of these groups, and the "what we stand for" statements, reveal that these organizations are the people who are promoting a socialist agenda in this country.

Rarely has there been an opportunity to see so vividly the political and philosophical division in this nation.

Glenn Beck's rally called for a return to God and the principles of freedom set forth in the Constitution.

The "One Nation" rally, according to their website, will call for government to adopt a socialist agenda to control the work force, to control education and to achieve social equality.

Compare what the "One Nation" organizations advocate with the Socialist Party USA platform.

Socialists in America have made great gains in recent years because they are far better organized than are non-socialists. Socialists have re-labeled themselves as "progressives," rather than the socialists they are. Americans are discovering that even though it may be politically correct to call a skunk a mustelidae, when it begins to spew, there is no question about what it really is. There can be no question that the groups aligned with "One Nation" are working to implement a socialist agenda.

A system conceived in failure ~ By Robert Ringer

This morning, I am going to try to do this post a little differently than I have in the past. Change can be good sometimes, right? First, let me me suggest that you read Robert Ringer's column in full by clicking on the link below, and then return to this page to read my analysis.

A system conceived in failure

Fidel Castro's recent statement that communism doesn't work in Cuba anymore was a stunning admission on his part – kind of a deathbed conversion to the efficacy and morality of freedom and free markets. It was, of course, a horrific blow to the far left, particularly in the United States. Here we are, hurtling full speed toward a communist utopia in America, while Cuba, Vietnam, China and other previously hard-core communist countries are moving just as rapidly toward capitalism.
Castro Criticizes Cuba's Communist System

Video provided by FoxNewsChannel

Some may have warm and fuzzy feelings toward good ol' Fidel, kind of like a Charlie Rangel "retire-in-dignity" thing. But what about the untold numbers of Cubans who have been imprisoned, tortured and executed since Castro's takeover of Cuba in 1959? And the hundreds of thousands of Cubans who had to flee their homeland and leave most of their possessions behind?

If I were a Cuban-American who lost family members – or wealth – during Castro's reign of terror, I would be very angry right now. Fifty years of oppressing an entire nation, and now he says communism doesn't work? Sorry, Fidel, but your old-age enlightenment doesn't bring back all the lost family members and stolen wealth. Nor does it bring back the youth of those who have lived under his oppressive regime for more than 50 years.

Like other communist countries, Cuba will increasingly implement "reforms" that will move it more and more in the direction of freedom and free markets. And, as in most other communist countries that have collapsed under the weight of an unworkable system, Fidel, brother Raul and their fellow thugs will slip into the night and "retire with dignity."
This part reminded me of what my 7th grade "Social Studies" teacher, Mr. Trotter, told us many, many years ago (in the 1960's). He told us that the United States would gradually move toward Communism, or at least more government control of the economy and less freedom for the people, while the Soviet Union would move away from Communism and toward more freedom for the people, and eventually the two superpowers would meet somewhere in the middle. That was very prophetic. However, Mr. Trotter never mentioned what would happen after we met in the middle. Would the United States keep moving toward Communism?
So, where does this leave the Michael Moore, Sean Penn, Oliver Stone crowd? Embarrassed? Never. Leftists have a stand-pat response whenever they are confronted with yet another communist failure. They simply argue that Karl Marx's model has never been implemented correctly, which is why all communist countries have failed.

A nice, convenient excuse, to be sure. But the real reason why every communist regime in history has brought death, enslavement and economic disaster to its people is because communism is a political and economic system that was conceived in failure. Plain and simple, it defies human nature. People – all people – seek to better their existence, and it takes the brute force of a Joseph Stalin or Kim Jong Il to suppress that instinct.

When people are punished for producing, they simply stop producing. Within a few years after the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, conditions were so bad in Russia that Lenin was on the verge of being confronted with a counter-revolution.
"Uh, oh, now what do we do?" Lenin was wondering. "Maybe this Marxism thing isn't going to work out so well..." But, Lenin came up with a plan.
To ward it off, he invited Western capitalists to help industrialize the Soviet Union. And, sadly, many major U.S. corporations accommodated Lenin and saved him from his own communist system. (Which leads one to think of Herbert Hoover's all-too-true statement that "The only thing wrong with capitalism is capitalists.")

Dissident Alexander Solzhenitsyn, author of "The Gulag Archipelago," explained that without the help of the United States, Russia's communism would almost certainly have collapsed much sooner:
It is American trade that allows the Soviet economy to concentrate its resources on armaments and preparations for war. Remove that trade, and the Soviet economy would be obliged to feed and clothe and house the Russian people, something it has never been able to do. Let the socialists among you allow this socialist economy to prove the superiority that its ideology claims. Stop sending them goods. Let them stand on their own feet, and then see what happens.
Yeah, well, we know how it works. In capitalism, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer! At least that's what Democrats have always told me. In fact, that is what just about everybody tells me that isn't making very much money. However, Robert Ringer tells me a different story. It seems that capitalism is not all that bad for the poor broke masses, especially for those that would LIKE to be do better in life:

Where otherwise well-meaning people get off track is when they buy into the far-left rhetoric that "the poor" are exploited under capitalism. The truth, of course, is that those on the lowest rung of the economic ladder benefit more from capitalism than from any other system, for a variety of reasons.

First, every person is free to take a job at any wage available to him, and, in fact, both employment and wages normally increase in a free market.

Second, in a free society devoid of most government regulations, a person with little or no capital is able to start a business much easier, without the necessity of obtaining a license or having to comply with costly regulations that only large companies can afford.

Third, free-market capitalism keeps prices down, which allows a low-income person to buy things he would not be able to afford in a government-controlled economy.

Fourth, the more profitable a company is, the more it is able to invest in expansion of its business, which results in more employment, higher wages, more products being produced and lower prices – all of which are good for low-income people.
That all seems to makes sense, doesn't it? Of course it makes sense, because it is the way things actually work in economics, despite what some pinhead college professor may have told you. But, unfortunately, some people are harder to convince of the truth. Let's take a look from a different angle:
As a country moves toward socialism (which Karl Marx defined as a transitional stage between capitalism and communism), the only way government can prevent producers from revolting is through the use of force. That is why all socialist/communist revolutions and evolutions end in enslavement and bloodshed.

We see it now in Greece, where the spoiled masses are, in effect, saying to the government: "We don't give a damn if you don't have enough money to pay our entitlements. We want them anyway!"

Right now, the United States is a "mixed-economy" country – i.e., part socialist and part capitalist. But it is now moving rapidly toward more and more government control of both the economy and people's lives.
If Fidel Castro has decided that Communism isn't working in Cuba, do you now see why it is so important for us to move America in a different direction? If Mr. Trotter, the teacher I mentioned above, had realized that America and the Soviet Union were going to end up like each other at some point in time, could he have also believed that America would eventually keep on going toward Communism? Or, did Mr. Trotter hope and pray that America would eventually wake up and realize the direction we were heading wasn't where we would want to go?

It's possible, if that is the case, that America IS waking up. That seems to be what the Tea Party Movement is all about. And not only are we waking up, many people are bothering to get up and do something about it. And you can, too, if you should choose to stay free. We have a chance to get this country back on the right path in just a few weeks. We have the most important election ever facing us coming along on November 2, 2010. It is time to pay close attention to who is on the ballot. It is time to pay attention to the candidates' character. It is time to understand where they stand on the issues. It is time to believe that you can make a difference, and change the direction this country is going, with your vote, and if possible, your assistance with campaigns and/or educating the voters.

You need to make a choice, while you still have the freedom to choose. Just sayin'...

If Americans do not hold the next Congress' feet to the fire and demand that the government get out of people's lives and out of the economy – if they allow the progressives in the Republican Party to co-opt the new tea-party members in the House and Senate – it will surely [b]ring down the curtain on the last best hope of mankind.

Perhaps Don Meredith, of Monday Night Football fame, was prescient when he sang, "Turn out the lights, the party's over." Just the thought of Meredith being remembered as the Nostradamus of our time would be enough to make Howard Cosell turn over in his grave.

Rockefeller Republicans ~ By Patrick J. Buchanan

To the Republican establishment, tea-party people are field hands. Their labors are to be recognized and rewarded, but they are to stay off the porch and not presume to sit at the master's table.

And what O'Donnell did, with her amazing victory, is to imperil that establishment's return to power. That is why these Republicans went ballistic.

O'Donnell's conservative convictions and Castle's social liberalism mean nothing to them.
Christine O'Donnell on Fox and Friends: She can win!

Video provided by TheREALjohnny2k

Pat Buchanan explains just exactly what is wrong with the Beltway Republican establishment, and he does it without even using the word "RINO." And actually, I am sure that is purposeful. Not all of the establishment Republicans are Republicans In Name Only. Some of them actually are Conservatives, at least to some degree. Not all of them are Progressives as some people might want to believe.

There is an explanation for why both Conservative AND Progressive Republicans make up the Beltway Republican establishment, and it has a lot to do with why they became upset about Christine O'Donnell winning the Delaware nomination for the U.S. Senate seat. You see, if there are enough Republicans of whatever stripe they come in, to make up a majority in the U.S. Senate, they then regain the committee chairmanships. And that, folks, is what this is all about: Personal power.

The Beltway Republican establishment is showing their true colors by being down in the dumps about O'Donnell winning, rather than Mike Castle, who they felt could and would win the Delaware Senate seat formerly held by Joe Biden. As Karl Rove said, more or less, "Now the Republicans may only win 7 or 8 seats instead of 8 or 9." You see, it didn't matter if Castle was a RINO. They just wanted the Republican majority in the Senate for their own personal power.

The good news is that on November 3, the Beltway Republican establishment may just wake up to find out that Christine O'Donnell will be representing the State of Delaware in the U. S. Senate. And if that is the case, Jim DeMint will have one more excellent ally in the U.S. Senate for the TRUE Conservative and Tea-party cause. Just sayin'...

Beltway Republicans say they have learned their lesson. But the tea-party folks and conservatives who vaulted O'Donnell to victory are saying: You had your chance. Now, move aside for new leaders.

Why is the tea party wrong – and the establishment right?

The first tea-party rebellion was the Barry Goldwater movement. When it triumphed at the Cow Palace, Nelson Rockefeller denounced the movement as riddled with radicals, baited the Goldwater people at the convention and refused to endorse the nominee.

A decade later, Vice President Rockefeller got his payback, when conservatives demanded that President Ford drop him off the ticket as the price of renomination. Ford agreed.

In its contemptuous response to O'Donnell's victory, the GOP establishment of today looked like nothing so much as the Rockefeller Republican establishment of yesteryear. Its time is coming, too.

Is the Republican establishment losing it?

Is the party leadership capable of uniting a governing coalition as Richard Nixon did before Watergate and Ronald Reagan resurrected in the 1980s?

Observing the hysteria and nastiness of Karl Rove and the GOP establishment at the stunning triumph of tea-party princess Christine O'Donnell, the answer is no.

This party is not ready to rule.

Consider. In its grand strategy to recapture a Senate that George W. Bush and Rove lost in 2006, the GOP Senate leadership endorsed all its own caucus members for re-election, if they chose to run, then picked out all its favorite candidates for the open and Democratic seats.

Conservatives and tea-party activists, however, had other ideas. They began to pick their own candidates. And, again and again, the Senate's chosen were rejected in favor of tea-party challengers who had the endorsement of Sarah Palin or South Carolina's Jim DeMint.

Arlen Specter was rejected by the Pennsylvania GOP and left the party. Rand Paul routed Sen. Mitch McConnell's man in Kentucky. Charlie Crist was challenged by Marco Rubio in Florida. Crist, too, departed. Sen. Bob Bennett was denied renomination in Utah. Sen. Lisa Murkowski lost her primary in Alaska to a little-known fellow named Joe Miller.

But Delaware was the stunner. Rep. Mike Castle, a former two-term governor who had been winning elections for 40 years, was a certain victor in November.

Challenger O'Donnell, however, ended all that.

Yet, though her conservative credentials are far superior to those of Castle, O'Donnell was made the object of a wilding attack by National Review and the Weekly Standard, Charles Krauthammer, who lashed out at Palin and DeMint for "irresponsbility," and Rove, who on Sean Hannity's show went postal as soon as the returns came in.
Karl Rove on Sean Hannity, Discussing Christine O'Donnell and 2010 Election

Video provided by TWSblog
Now, on paper, O'Donnell is a far tougher sell in Delaware than is Castle. But her defeat is not certain. Not in this volatile year.

And what is the justification for the savagery of the attacks on her, from her own?

What has this woman done? Did she vote for Sonia Sotomayor or Elena Kagan for the Supreme Court like Lindsey Graham? Did she support the Obama stimulus like Olympia Snow and Susan Collins? What did she do to deserve the trashing?

The answer is not distant.
