ISIS claims it is out to rectify these past events. However, the jihadist group still has a challenge in showing it can govern the caliphate it seeks to create, even though it has become a rallying point and sparked the imagination of disgruntled, unemployed young people to become jihadists with its dramatic military successes.

ISIS’ success also has shown just how limited U.S. influence now is in that region, as these sectarian and ethnic groups within these countries try to sort out things for themselves.

I'll admit it. I wasn't aware of ISIS when the "insurgents" first started taking back Iraqi territory that American soldiers fought so hard to secure for the Iraqi people before President Obama pulled them out of Iraq in 2011. But then after the middle of this June, I started learning about ISIS. First, I learned that ISIS was formed to create a caliphate in the Middle East. Now it is more of a story, being that ISIS supposedly caught Obama off guard! Lt. Col. Ralph Peters doesn't believe that story. And worse yet, we now find out that we've missed an opportunity to hit ISIS when they were most vulnerable, before they started their assault on Iraq.

What I'm saying is that there is not a political desire for American military power being used in Iraq to fight in a civil war there. The problem is, it isn't just about a civil war. It is actually about stopping the ISIS ultimate goal, the intention to set up a universal Caliphate. That is definitely something that threatens America's security. It's time for Obama to rethink what needs to be done in the Middle East, especially in Iraq. However, I do not think you'll hear Obama and his liberal minions ever talking about the dangers now present with ISIS. That would make his whole foreign policy regarding the Middle East and Iraq a total failure, especially when U.S. intelligence knew what was going on with ISIS for quite awhile. If we had intelligence about ISIS, then how could Obama have been caught off guard?

I have to agree with what Lt. Col. Ralph Peters says in the video below. Obama is lying, and he's telling us that there is nothing to see here. Well, now we know, and it IS a complete reflection on the failed Obama policies in the Middle East and keeping America secure. Just sayin'...

WASHINGTON – Claiming its goal is to smash the “partitioning of Muslim lands by crusader powers,” the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham, or ISIS, has set out its goal of redrawing the map of the Middle East.

This goal is outlined in an article from its latest weekly web magazine, The Islamic State Report, a professionally designed mouthpiece meant to recruit would-be jihadist fighters from the West.

ISIS’ web magazine began in June and has just published its fifth issue. Its fourth issue talks about redrawing the map of the Middle East, and on its cover shows ISIS fighters crossing between Syria and Iraq without any sign of a demarcation between the two countries. The web magazine is published every Saturday.

The article seeks to justify creation of an Islamic caliphate to re-establish the Middle East region before it was carved up by the British and French following World War I.

In outlining how it is reshaping the Middle East map, ISIS in said its goal is to correct an injustice that goes back to a secret arrangement between the British and French, known as the 1916 Sykes-Picot Treaty. That treaty created the countries of Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Jordan and later contributed to Israel’s creation.

Pry pointed out that the federal government, particularly the Department of Defense and the intelligence community, has known about the EMP threat for more than 50 years.

Yet, the EMP threat has only come to the attention of most policymakers and the public relatively recently.

Such a concern only began to come to the public’s attention in unclassified reports in 2004 and 2008 by the congressionally mandated EMP Commission. The panel determined that the secrecy surrounding an EMP event was a greater threat to the nation than revelations of its destructive nature to the U.S. electrical grid system and the life-sustaining critical infrastructures.

Pry said that passage of the CIPA, introduced by Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., would “immediately mobilize thousands of emergency planners and first responders at all levels of government and educated millions of others, about EMP and how to prepare for it.”

Writing about events in the past, as in historical accounts, is called History. These are nonfictional stories about what previously happened, and if anything, get their value as a teaching tool. For as we all know, repeating mistakes of the past and expecting different results is called insanity.

Writing about current events is called News. It's weird, but I'd swear that the news we get to deal with is about the insanity in this world because of all the people that didn't pay attention to History, or thought that they could repeat history and get different results.

But, try writing about a future event, and it's called everything from speculation to paranoia. People tend to not take it seriously. And that is the problem here. I've said it before:

Is it the threat of an EMP that F. Michael Maloof may seem to be a little obsessed with?  It may seem that way, and it may even seem that I am, too.  However, it is the fact that Congress is ignoring the threat, and refusing to take any action on limiting the results of an EMP, whether natural or caused by man, that is the real obsession. Just sayin'...

WASHINGTON – The lack of congressional action on critical infrastructure legislation is hampering national preparation for a natural or man-made electromagnetic pulse, or EMP, event that could kill 90 percent of the U.S. population due to starvation, disease and societal collapse, charges an expert on the threat.

Peter Vincent Pry, executive director of the congressional advisory Task Force on National and Homeland Security and director of the U.S. Nuclear Strategy Forum, contends that the failure to pass the Critical Infrastructure Protection Act, or CIPA, is preventing action at the federal, state and local levels to protect the nation from a catastrophic EMP event.

Pry has warned that a natural or nuclear EMP event could black out the national electric grid for months or years and collapse all of the other critical infrastructures essential to sustain a modern society and the lives of 310 million Americans.

The critical infrastructures include communications, transportation, banking, finance, food, water and emergency services.

Pry calls passage of the Critical Infrastructure Protection Act to create a new National Planning Scenario focused on the EMP threat “urgently necessary.”

'No help coming': State preps citizens for EMP attack ~ By F. Michael Maloof

In February 2013, Congressman Trent Franks introduced the SHIELD Act in the House of Representatives and established in the U.S. House of Representatives the EMP Caucus.

The SHIELD Act stands for Secure High-voltage Infrastructure for Electricity from Lethal Damage. It calls on industry and government to develop, promulgate and implement standards and processes that are necessary to address the electric grid’s current vulnerabilities and shortcomings that would be affected by an EMP.

Franks has been trying to get the SHIELD Act into law since 2011. In the last session of Congress, it passed the House but failed in the Senate. His efforts stem from findings of the congressional EMP commission which spelled out in considerable detail the cascading impact of an EMP on the electrical grid system and its catastrophic impact on life-sustaining critical infrastructures that depend on it.

Experts agree that if there were an EMP event, the U.S. could see some 90 percent of its population affected. Experts believe food, water, energy and other supply systems could be inoperational, possibly for periods extending to years.

Okay, here are the key words: "No help coming." That should be very concerning to all of us. There may be a reason why no help would come if there was an EMP attack on the United States, though. There seems to be people that refuse to believe it could ever happen. From the article:

State Rep. Chad Campbell, D-Phoenix, was one of 17 lawmakers who voted against the original legislation, criticizing the focus on a catastrophe that he said was a very remote possibility.

“Really, we already have a major catastrophe in the state and that’s called our schools falling apart, our roads falling apart and we should be fixing those things,” he said. “Not living in some fantasy world worrying about some unquantified attack or some disaster that’s not gonna happen.”

I suspect that this Rep. Chad Campbell, a Democrat who sounds like he's pretty progressive, would probably never understand the EMP threat, possibly just because it has been written about so extensively on wnd.com, and I do not consider that to be a "remote possibility" at all! Or, perhaps the representative, and many like him, have never bothered to read any of the multiple reports and briefings that have been produced by the EMP Commission, such as their Executive Report. Here is a snip from the Abstract of that report, found on page 5:

Several potential adversaries have or can acquire the capability to attack the United States with a high-altitude nuclear weapon-generated electromagnetic pulse (EMP). A determined adversary can achieve an EMP attack capability without having a high level of sophistication.

EMP is one of a small number of threats that can hold our society at risk of catastrophic consequences. EMP will cover the wide geographic region within line of sight to the nuclear weapon. It has the capability to produce significant damage to critical infrastructures and thus to the very fabric of US society, as well as to the ability of the United States and Western nations to project influence and military power.  (Emphasis my own.)

It does, however, illustrate one major reason why nothing has been done on the federal level,  It could be related to the ignorance about the plausibility of one of our enemies having the ability to launch a nuclear weapon into space, and detonating it right above the United States.

Keeping in mind that our current President and many of the Democrats in the U.S. Senate are not pro-military, it might explain why the SHIELD Act passed in the House last year, but went nowhere in the Senate.

Well, there is one thing that We the People can do to help prevent such a catastrophic event from happening, or at least to the magnitude that could be the reality right now.  You know what that is, and you know when we can do something about it:  It is called the Midterm Election this November 2014.  We must vote out the Representatives and Senators, mostly Democrats, but even some of the progressive Republicans, too, that are keeping this country from protecting itself.  Just sayin'...

WASHINGTON – Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has signed legislation to require the state’s Department of Emergency and Military Affairs to prepare materials outlining what citizens need to know to deal with either a natural or man-made electromagnetic pulse event that could knock out the vulnerable electrical grid system over a wide geographical region.

The legislation, SB 1476, was introduced by Sen. David Farnsworth, R-Mesa. It includes the type and quantity of food, water and medical supplies that each person should stockpile in case an EMP occurs over the U.S.

The legislation, however, doesn’t require actual hardening of the grid within the state.

“In our lifetimes the emergencies we’ve seen have been local emergencies, and really all we have to do is be prepared enough to hang on until help arrives,” Farnsworth said at the time he introduced it last February. “With an EMP, there’s no help coming.”

Under the legislation that now is law, the Arizona Division of Emergency Management is to post on its website recommendations such as the type and amount of supplies residents should stockpile to be prepared for an EMP event.

Farnsworth’s more immediate concern was the prospect of an EMP triggered by the detonation of a high-altitude nuclear weapon. The EMP would have the effect of knocking out the vulnerable grid system and any unprotected electronics.

“My hope is that by bringing this out, we’ll start discussions and come to the realization that as a government we can’t feed all these people, but as responsible citizens we need to do our part and make individual preparations,” he said at the time he introduced the legislation.

A co-sponsor of the legislation, Don Shooter, R-Yuma, had criticized the federal government for not taking a similar public education program.

North Korea EMP attack could destroy U.S. – right now

Imagine if all the lights in America went off – never to come back on again.

Imagine if all the computers in America got fried – never to come back on again.

Imagine if all the cars in America dependent on fancy circuitry wouldn’t start – ever again.

Imagine if the grocery stores and the gas stations had to close up – for good.

That’s the kind of scenario an EMP attack can cause. The scenarios suggest massive starvation, lawlessness and chaos beyond anything Americans can imagine.

Make no mistake, there is only one reason that I am posting this story from over a year ago. It is that the story was on WND, and it seems that some people really believe that stories on WND are "[r]idiculous drivel from World News Daily. You'd be better off reading The Enquirer."  That was the reaction from a reader that I read when I posted this story China reveals 'ace' against U.S. military ~ by F. Michael Maloof which was also found on WND.com.

I had a reply for that comment: "...Better just write off 95% of the new media, then, and stick to the Mainstream Media drivel."

It may just be what people consider to be predictions when they read stories like this one on the New Media that may make them have their doubts. The story being blogged here was posted back on 1/1/13. I did this to illustrate my point: It hasn't happened! But, that doesn't mean that it won't happen! We can only hope that it never does happen! But we don't have to cower and shiver in fear because something could happen, either. We just can't afford to bury our heads in the sand like the mainstream media does. When they do report on a story like this, it is usually just to ridicule the reporting on the subject. 

There may be nothing that we can do to stop such a tragedy from happening (except for maybe prayer). What really does matter is that you prepare yourself for an event that could feasibly happen. How you prepare yourself is the question that you will need to decide for yourself. Do you become a prepper or survivalist, and arm yourself to the teeth? Or, will you just stockpile water and food? Or, will you just pray that you will have a way to deal with it if (and when) it happens?

So, if anything does happen - like an EMP attack - just don't ever say that nobody warned you. This isn't like Al Gore's global warming doom and gloom predictions that may NEVER happen. Our enemies, such as Iran and North Korea, could feasibly have the needed technology in the near future, if not already, to make an EMP attack happen.  I'm just sayin'...

North Korea now has an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) capable of delivering a nuclear weapon to the United States, as demonstrated by their successful launch and orbiting of a satellite on Dec. 12, the Washington Times reports.

In fact, the Times report says, “North Korea is a mortal nuclear threat to the United States – right now.”

It’s not just the threat of conventional nuclear attack that has experts worried. Nor is the North Korea invasion scenario in the new remake of “Red Dawn” a realistic risk.

The real concern is that North Korea now has miniaturized nuclear weapons for ballistic missile delivery and armed missiles with nuclear warheads that could destroy the U.S. in a single blow with an EMP attack that would send the U.S. back to 19th century technology a la the NBC TV show “Revolution.”

And North Korea is hardly the only threat to destroy what some other nations and rogue players call “the Great Satan.”

As WND previously has reported, China is giving a priority to developing EMP weapons that could be used against U.S. aircraft carriers, which increasingly are arriving in the South and East China Seas as part of the new U.S. “pivot” policy toward Asia.

That policy is to challenge China’s claims over all of the East and South China Seas and the increasing assertiveness by Beijing, which is trying to gain exclusive control over vital minerals and energy in the region.

When you see this column posted here today, please do not conclude that it is is just more fear-mongering paranoia. This is not posted here because of a paranoid threat of World War III starting tomorrow. There is much more to this column than the reporting on a military threat from China that you'll learn on close scrutiny.

During previous American Presidential administrations, it is doubtful that China would not only attempt an attack on American forces defending Taiwan, they wouldn't have rattled sabers about it, either, at least not in such a threatening manner. As explained in this column, "the Chinese military has calculated that the U.S. military is too fragmented and, coupled with the downturn in the economy, would be less likely to come to Taiwan’s assistance, forcing Taiwan to defend itself." Does that not say what China thinks of the resolve of our current President? No, Obama is not going to go down in history as our "peace-through-strength" President, is he. If anything, I think it is just the opposite. My conclusion, which I came to a long time ago, as in when Obama took office, is reinforced by this kind of information.

Unless what the Chinese allegedly said was totally fabricated, we should be wondering about the strategy of military cuts, and if that is leaving us vulnerable. I'm just sayin'...

WASHINGTON – Members of the Chinese military are looking to use an electromagnetic pulse as part of a “one-two punch” to knock out – literally within seconds – all defensive electronics not only on Taiwan but also on U.S. warships that could defend the island.

This revelation comes in an article by Lou Xiaoqing who says the People’s Liberation Army sees an EMP weapon as the primary means of incapacitating Taiwan and disabling American defenders nearby.

Given that such a strategy was made public in an article entitled “Electromagnetic pulse bombs are Chinese ace,” it is seen as reflecting the official Chinese government position.

Xaoqing said that if the Chinese were to use a high-altitude nuclear device which would create the destructive EMP impact on Taiwan’s electronics, it would be exploded at an attitude of 18 miles to avoid damaging civilian and military equipment on the Chinese mainland, which might happen if the bomb exploded at a higher altitude.

“China is attracted to the fight against the U.S. military after the effective range, using them as a means of surprise attack or an intimidation factor,” Xaoqing said. “The United States will abandon the use of aircraft carrier battle groups to defend Taiwan.”

Xaoqing said that the Chinese military has calculated that the U.S. military is too fragmented and, coupled with the downturn in the economy, would be less likely to come to Taiwan’s assistance, forcing Taiwan to defend itself.

The Department of Defense is slamming the door on questions about the mysterious contrail filmed Nov. 8 by a KCBS television crew near Los Angeles after questions were raised about a warning from the National Geo-Spatial Intelligence Agency that there could be missiles fired in that area at that time.

The official government position has been that the contrail, which appears to have been made by a single source, was from a jet passing by.

And the refusal to provide answers to specific questions suggests a cover-up of potential secret missile testing in the area – contrary to official jet contrail explanation.

For weeks, experts have examined the billowing plume and the single-source white-hot exhaust which they contend was from a missile, not a jet.

It was in Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin intelligence report where the story was broken that several experts who examined the video of the mysterious contrail confirmed it was not from a jet but a missile.

The experts who examined the video have had extensive experience working with missiles and computer security systems for various sensitive agencies of the U.S. government.
