Special Announcement

Special Announcement

If you have been a reader of "johnny2k's Blogging in Our Time 2 Escape" over the last year, you may notice a change in the way I will be posting the columns here. I have strayed too far from my original intent of this blog, and decided to go back to the beginning. Yesterday (01-DEC-10), I wrote a tweet that says, "In the next day or 2, I'll be making an announcement regarding my johnny2k blogs and a decision I've made. Not the end. It's the beginning!" This is that announcement.

I realized that several things were happening that were disturbing to me. I discovered that I was in a rut, and it was a trend that needed to be reversed immediately.

The original intent of this blog was to help people find other great bloggers with their own commentaries and stories to tell.  It was meant to be a service for the enjoyment of the visitors to this blog, along with a little promotion for the other authors/bloggers, blogs, and news sites.  I had somehow shifted the focus from that mission to spending way too much time on... well, me! MY commentary was taking over.  Talking about defeating the entire purpose of this blog!

It was just the other day, and I was looking at my Blog Archive for this blog. I noticed a very bad trend. The number of blogs per month were drastically declining, month after month. At first, it was only because I was spending more time on adding the links from the columns, formatting for the appearance of text and background colors, and adding pictures and videos. But it was when last Spring I started spending more and more time writing my own commentary about the columns when it all started going down hill. It got to the point this Fall when there were times that I would be suffering from writer's block, and I wouldn't get anything written over a period of hours, sometimes days.

More importantly, I was using so much of the original content of the columns that I'm surprised I never got sued for copyrights violations! I will now be using no more than two or three paragraphs, depending on the length of the paragraphs, to highlight the overall gist of the column. I will continue with generally the same color schemes for background and font colors.  You will be directed to the full story with links, where you will be able to read the complete column for yourself. Again, that was my original intent, to get other great columnists, bloggers and authors the attention and the page views that they deserve for their own hard work.

Will you be missing my musings? If you are looking for that here on Time 2 Escape, you will. However, I will return to doing my writing at johnny2k Is Home, where my columns had normally been posted in the past. I hope to be able to increase the number of posts on this blog, while actually spending much less time doing so, and thus have more time to write for my johnny2k Is Home blog.

Yep, sometimes it is best to go back to square one when things are not working!  Now, if our leaders in Washington would just go back to the Constitution, maybe our country would be much better off, too! Just sayin'... (and that will be the last time you will read, "Just sayin'..." on this venue!)

Hopes and Changes: Are we getting what we deserve? ~ By John Kubicek

In this piece, I just wanted to make sure that you know that all is not lost. It may actually be a blessing. There are things you can do to make up for mistakes you've made in your life.
The hopes and changes that we will face in the coming years will surely happen if you do nothing. I am asking you today not to let that happen. I know that everyone of us can do something. We will only get what we deserve, despite how people voted in November 2008, if we do nothing.

What is harder than accepting all of the mistakes we’ve made in our lives? Stay tuned, I’ll do my my best to tell you. I will need to give you some background first, which will provide the basis for my thoughts that I want to get across.

Not much more than a week or two ago, my previous computer bit the dust. Despite my heroic efforts to sustain it’s life, I had to put it down. It was a very sad decision to make, but it was the most cost-effective choice, at least according to the “death panel.”

I am now working with a brand new companion. He’s not a clone of the old 2002 Gateway. Nope, but the precious goals and aspirations of the previous machine make up the genetics of the new guy, my constant companion made of circuits and gadgets.

In the process of getting acquainted with the technology of this newest century, I learned something. I found out that the learning curve is exponential: The more you learn, the faster you learn… But I digress.

In my haste last week to finally get my new computer going, I had attempted to write a column here, only to have it lost in cyber-space, due to my own incompetence. As a normal human, I get used to doing things one way, and then, things CHANGE. Not good. Change BAD. Or so I thought, until just a day or two ago.

CHANGES in things as we know them give us just two choices: 1) Lay down and die, or 2) DEAL WITH CHANGES!!! Was that clear enough? So I had to start getting used to a new computer. No, it was not easy. But I adjusted, and learned what I could. And I am sure I will continue to learn more! I am dealing with what was handed to me, and not by my choice. I had not hoped for change, but I took option 2 and dealt with it.

And guess what? There are things that many people had hoped for, and voted for, and yes, they are getting the changes… And I am pretty sure that people aren’t getting the changes they were hoping for. That is why I asked above, “What is harder than accepting all of the mistakes we’ve made in our lives?” The hard part is how to deal with our mistakes. Those that voted for Obama and now feel sorry for their decision now have to deal with it. The good news is that there IS a way to deal with it. It’s called the TEA PARTY MOVEMENT!

A week ago there was an outstanding column by Phil Elmore that you need to know about that may help you out. And if you are reading this column, then that means you probably have the means to take the actions that Phil talked about. You can join Twitter, Facebook and start a blog. None of it is that hard to do. For those that have a few more advanced skills, there is youtube and other sites to upload videos to. You can make a difference.

Five Keys to Persuasive Online Advocacy

By Brandon Martin Many conservative politicos are eager to emulate the Left’s organizational success online. One such strategist we respect frequently talks about “community organizing” online and has developed considerable expertise in implementing the Left’s playbook . We, too, have noticed the funding and manpower of groups like Organize for America and MoveOn.org and the zealous dedication of the Left’s many standout bloggers like DailyKos and Wonkette. But, the more we monitor the growing conservative counter-revolution on-line, the more we think that the independent-Right should be focused not only on studying their adversaries’ strengths, but also on how to avoid their frequent mistakes. Here are five places to start... [Click here to continue reading!]

The Unintended Consequences of Startups

In a column by Jason Nazar, he talks about something that I have also experienced. There are sacrifices to make when you want to get ahead in life. There is just no doubt about that. And, Jason reminds us in his column that at some point, we may have to decide if the "unintended consequences" are worth the reward. Hmmm.... something to think about! From the article:
There is only one way I can imagine running a startup, obsessively giving it everything you’ve got. In my opinion its what separates the winners from everyone else, and it’s the only way I’d ever be able to look back on this experience without regret. [Continue reading]

Time to Escape! Not! Just doing what I need to do

Time to Escape? What a sick, twisted irony it is, to have named this blog, "Blogging in Our Time 2 Escape." For me, that is, there is no escape. I do not know for sure if it is understood what my mission is in this blog. It is for the reason that I AM doing this blog; it is to promote ALL of us that want to make a difference in this world! ... Well, even sicker yet, is that I'm blogging a blog from this same blog! There IS no escape! The reason why I'm putting this one back up today is for those that want to check out the comments so far at digg.com. I have some wonderful friends, that is for sure! read more | digg story
