Gov. Palin's Fiorina Endorsement, a Common Sense Decision ~ By Adrienne Ross

I was lead to this column tonight, thanks to a tweet from my friend SarahStormRpt linking to another column by Adrienne Ross on Conservatives4Palin. I had heard about Sarah Palin's endorsement of Carly Fiorina for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate seat now held by Barbara Boxer, and the uproar it caused. However, after reading this column, I would say that Sarah made the right decision. There is no way that we would want an anti-Israel RINO like Tom Campbell in the race against incumbent Barbara Boxer, let alone for him to become another RINO Senator!

She is pro-life, which has earned her endorsements from the Susan B. Anthony List and the National Right to Life. She is a Second Amendment supporter, which is crucial as gun rights are under fire. She is also a voice for clamping down on illegal immigration. In fact, she has not failed to speak about the recent law in Arizona, showing support for Arizona coupled with an understanding that this is a national security issue and should be treated as such, something Governor Palin has also noted.

Here we go again. Governor Palin endorses a conservative who shares her American values, her vision, and her record of a strong work ethic--and people complain. So what else is new? This has become the norm for those who simply don't know as much as they think they know. Today's episode involves the governor's endorsement of Carly Fiorina.

I have a simple question for those who are whining over this recent endorsement. Which candidate did you actually expect her to endorse for this California Senate seat? Three people are running: Chuck DeVore, Tom Campbell, and Carly Fiorina. Let's take a look at each. Then answer that question.

Chuck DeVore is a conservative, but is that all it takes to secure an endorsement? Problem number one is that DeVore has allegedly run his campaign with tax-payer dollars. This controversy itself raises eyebrows, and such unethical behavior would surely rule out an endorsement by Governor Palin, who is nothing if not ethical. After all, she's the reformer who blew the whistle on corrupt behavior in her home state of Alaska.

In addition, DeVore simply has no chance of winning. Instead, he's simply splitting the vote, giving the edge to Campbell, and Campbell is the antithesis of the values needed to get this nation back on the right track. We need someone who can defeat Barbara Boxer, who just has to go, and that someone is Carly Fiorini. We cannot afford a Campbell win.

Tom Campbell is a mess -- plain and simple. Let's look at his track record.

First of all, Daniel Halper pointed out in an article for the Weekly Standard called "Tom Campbell's Israel Problem," that "Campbell has a long troubling record as an anti-Israel public official." That article went on to quote from a Jennifer Rubin article that points out his anti-Israel efforts. Some of those measures were:

In 1999, Rep. Tom Campbell introduced an amendment to cut foreign aid to Israel. This amendment, titled the “Campbell Amendment,” was defeated overwhelmingly on the House floor by a vote of 13-413.

In 1999, Campbell was one of just 24 House members to vote against a resolution expressing Congressional opposition to the unilateral declaration of a Palestinian state.

In 1997, Rep. Tom Campbell authored an amendment (again, titled the “Campbell Amendment”) to cut foreign aid to Israel. The resolution failed 9-32 in committee. This amendment was particularly offensive to the pro-Israel community because it came at the same time that Israel had agreed to a complete phase out of economic aid over a 8-year period. This was not sufficient for Campbell and his amendment called for an additional cut beyond what had been agreed to.

In 1990, Campbell was one of just 34 House members to vote against a resolution expressing support for Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. The resolution passed the House 378-34.

Rubin came to the following tell-tale conclusion:

If Campbell wins the Republican primary, a huge window will open for the incumbent, Barbara Boxer, who will be able to point to her record of supporting Israel in contrast to Campbell's hostility toward one of America's closest allies.

President Obama gives us enough reasons to be concerned over our support of Israel. We don't need anyone adding to that.

His Israel stance is just the beginning of Campbell's troubles. Added to that are other problematic issues. He received donations from a terrorist. He is pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, and opposes off-shore drilling. He also appears to have a problem with our Second Amendment, which might explain his F rating from the NRA.

The bottom line: Campbell's got a frightening downside, and he's no conservative. We certainly cannot send him to D.C., and we cannot afford a candidate who will pave the way for another Boxer term. Campbell will do just that, and again, career politician DeVore and his controversial campaign cannot defeat anybody.

This brings us to Carly Fiorina. She is a true common sense conservative. She boasts a record to warrant a Governor Palin endorsement -- and she's the only candidate in this race who deserves it.

Because of Joe McCarthy's critics, we have been told time and again that guilt by association is a cardinal sin. But I contend it makes perfect sense to judge people by their friends, but also by their enemies. Who hasn't said, upon meeting another person, "Any friend of so-and-so is a friend of mine"? And who doesn't subscribe to the adage that the enemy of my enemy is my friend?

I only wish that more people had paid closer attention to Barack Obama's circle of friends in Chicago before he got to move to Washington and form an even more vicious circle.

What brings this to mind is the unending vituperation directed at Sarah Palin. So far as I'm concerned, anyone who can give conniption fits to Jon Stewart, Chris Matthews, Ellis Henican, Keith Olbermann and David Letterman the way Alaska's favorite daughter can is aces in my book.

One of the things that motivates their contempt for Mrs. Palin is her alleged lack of smarts. However, if she were as dumb as they claim, they wouldn't have to shove words she never spoke in her mouth. After all, when it comes to leftists such as Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Alan Grayson, Henry Waxman, Charles Rangel and Barbara Boxer, we on the right merely have to quote them verbatim to make our case. I mean, I know Mrs. Palin didn't attend an Ivy League school, but does any reasonably rational person actually believe that she doesn't know the difference between North and South Korea?

Americans are turning up the heat on congressmen in town hall meetings across the U.S., who apparently hoped that citizens would simply swallow the hook of Obamacare. It's unfortunate that rather than respecting and welcoming citizens' questions and grievances, many of our national leaders are belittling, demonizing and marginalizing them as extremists. They refuse to believe these groups represent any real grass roots resistance. Instead, they concoct conspiracy theories that they are conservatives who are secretly mobilizing these irrational marches. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said that protesters of Obamacare are "carrying Swastikas." Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., accused the protesters of trying to "sabotage" the democratic process. And Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., responded that "well-dressed" protesters are out to "hurt our president." So who are the real extremists – citizens who voice their First Amendment grievances or politicians who through their rhetoric try socially to quarantine citizens and impede democratic debate? While watching these political hot August nights, I decided to research the reasons why so many are so opposed to Obamacare – to separate facts from fantasy. What I discovered was that there are indeed dirty little secrets buried deep within the 1,000-plus page proposed health care bill. Having already given "Six reasons Obamacare is bad medicine" for America in a previous column, I thought through August I'd expose the political syringes through which it will be injected into the veins of America if Obamacare passes. Dirty secret No. 1 in Obamacare is about the government coming into homes and usurping parental rights over child care development. It's outlined in passages like Section 440 and Section 1904 of the House bill (page 838) under the heading: "Home visitation programs for families with young children and families expecting children," which would provide (via grants to states) for home visitation programs to educate parents on child behavior and parenting skills. Home visitation programs? Sounds so quaint!? You mean, for parents endangering their children or for those who want to better their parenting skills? If it's for those who endanger their children, we already have a government agency for that – Child Protective Services. And if it's merely for family education, most communities have a plethora of help there through local and state agencies and schools, outside of that other government vassal – Planned Parenthood. So do we need another federal bureaucracy for training parents and families? Or is there a hidden agenda in that vague outline? The bill says that the government agents, the "well-trained and competent staff," will "provide parents with knowledge of age-appropriate child development in cognitive language, social, emotional and motor domains … modeling, consulting, and coaching on parenting practices, skills to interact with their child to enhance age-appropriate development." Are you kidding me?! And with whose parental principles and values? Their own? Certain experts? Who? From what field and theory of childhood development? As if there are one-size-fits-all parenting techniques? Do we really believe they will contextualize and personalize every form of parenting in their education or merely universally indoctrinate with their own? Are we to assume the State's mediators will understand every parent's social or religious core values on parenting? Or will they teach some secular-progressive and religiously neutered version of parental values and wisdom? And when they "consult and coach" those who are expecting babies, will they ever decide circumstances are not beneficial for the child and encourage abortion? [READ COMPLETE COLUMN]

Senator Barbara Boxer thinks that the "angry mobs" are "well dressed"

That arrogant, elitist Senator, Barbara Boxer of Calfornia, wants people to believe that the "unruly angry mobs" are shills for the insurance industry. Of course, that is very far from the truth. In fact, the people that are so upset are not just Republicans that are trying to stop President Obama. No, there are many people that have gone to the town hall meetings to protest the health care plan (that isn't even Obama's plan, because he doesn't have one) and be so "devisive," are Democrats. So, excuse me, Senator Boxer, but the only mob rule going on in this country is the Chicago mob now running the White House. The grass roots movement is not orchestrated by ANYONE. For you to call it anything else is a 1984-style fabrication.
