By Erik Rush Posted: December 03, 2009 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 While it may sound like hubris, I believe that the function I perform in this space from week to week is of consequence, as are the efforts of my similarly engaged colleagues. Should we ever doubt, all we need do is observe the developments of the day and heed the responses we regularly receive. In addition to those Americans whose viewpoints we validate and reinforce, we routinely encounter those who have only recently crossed the path of enlightenment, and others who express gratification that theirs isn't the sole voice in their particular wilderness. It is indeed the time for all of us, regardless of the scope of our reach, to communicate our truth unrelentingly, and to as many as possible. Not all who have failed to find that aforementioned path are ideologues, and these could be considered potential allies. Those of us whom some would crown with tinfoil hats are not any more intellectually gifted than our fellows; we simply possess a broader perspective. For example: Progressives claim to corner the market on (among a multitude of other things) understanding and insight vis-à-vis divergent cultures. In truth, it is the deeper comprehension thereof on the part of their political opponents – that would be us – which provides much more sagacity in this area. America was attacked by radical Islamists on Sept. 11, 2001, yet to progressives, what I would deem prudent comportment in the face of that action is silly and alarmist, or even racist. This despite the fact that radical Islam continues to arm itself and profess its intention to wipe out America and her allies. READ FULL STORY >
