Keep your lamps lit ~ By Patrice Lewis

Patrice is consistently straightforward. This column is no exception.

Once again, Harold Camping, now retired, came up with another false prophecy about the end of the world right after the previous one on May 21, 2011 that obviously didn't happen on October 21, 2011 as he fortold. That is obviously a good thing. I'm not ready for the end of the world. There are lives I can still touch.

Being a "prepper"? Having everything that I would need to survive should the global economy "go to hell in a hand-basket," or should there be a great war in the Middle East? The fact is, there could be all kinds of disasters that could happen, and there is no way I can be prepared for a very long time. I'd be toast.

But, if there is nothing else that I can do, I am assured of being spiritually prepared. Because of my lack of income that would be required for a long-term - or actually, anything over a week or two - survival plan, I guess there isn't any other choice. Spiritual preparation is my only option.

This is why I think Patrice Lewis was being very straightforward about the topic of preparation in this piece. I doubt it will matter if people have a few guns, a lot of ammunition, a storage of food for a year.... It may not matter. The fact is, spiritual preparation will need to be the main objective for many of us.

Our days may be numbered, but we do not know when, not even if you can predict the collapse of the global economy within a few days. However, there are things you can do to keep your lamp lit.

If you don't mind, I'll do what I can to help you understand that you can "survive" whatever comes at us, from at least the spiritual aspect. You can be good to people. You can spread the message of the Gospel, the story of God's LOVE for us. Believe me, people need to hear it. People need to have plenty of the lamp oil on hand. The good news is that you can give away that lamp oil for free.

You can thank Patrice Lewis for inspiring me just a little more today.

Keep your lamps lit!

Well, another miscalculated Day of Judgment has come and gone, and another false prophet who tried to predict Judgment Day is left with egg on his face. I'll never know why people feel the need to try and outsmart God in predicting the end of the world in direct opposition to Scripture, but there you are. I guess if Jesus had to warn us about such things 2,000 years ago, there was a strong tendency even back then to add up the number of "T's" in the book of Isaiah, divide by the amount of time it takes to hop around Jerusalem on one foot and multiply by the number of Tuesdays in the year 2012 (along with other numerical hocus-pocus) and conclude the world will end on May 21 or whatever.

Keeping the Lamp Lit
So what are we explicitly instructed to do, according to Scripture? Keep watch. Be prepared. Be ready. Always keep sufficient lamp oil on hand because you never know when the bridegroom will come.

So smart people keep their spiritual oil plentiful at all times.

Then there are the people who like to keep their physical lamp oil on hand as well. That would be the wacky subculture known as Preppers. After all, since we never know when the financial day of judgment is going to happen, we Preppers like to be ready.

The urge to be prepared has recently sharpened for millions of people as we've watched not only our own country's problems increase, but the problems of the rest of the world as well. America is toppling under debt. North Africa is in shambles and moving ever closer to Shariah law. Europe is about to implode financially and drag who-knows-what down with it. China is not the bastion of financial stability it would like us to believe.

In other words, the economic bottom could fall out from under us at any moment. When that happens, non-Preppers would be as foolish as the virgins who forgot to stock lamp oil, because lamp oil will shoot through the roof in terms of price and scarcity.

We cannot predict the Day of Judgment, so it's best to be constantly prepared for it. Nor can we predict the economic collapse of our nation … but it's no longer a matter of IF, it's a matter of WHEN. So wise people keep their pantries stocked.

When will this insanity end? ~ By David Limbaugh

There are still plenty of Obama worshippers that don't believe that he is a Socialist, or for that matter, a Marxist or Communist. However, as David Limbaugh shows here in this column, Obama certainly is!
In hot pursuit of his latest federal power grab (a complete financial overhaul), what Obama doesn't tell us is that it wasn't an unregulated market that primarily caused the financial crisis – the crisis that facilitated his ecstatic quest to completely transform America into a socialist state. It was largely an unbridled, out-of-control, do-gooder leftist Congress that substituted its values for the wisdom of the market and incentivized and forced financial firms to make loans to people who couldn't possibly repay them, among other things. These wonderful leftist congressmen, who hold themselves out as impartial regulators, resisted Republican efforts to rein in their friends at Fannie and Freddie.

I wonder why any president of the United States would feel compelled to protest, repeatedly, "I believe in the power of the free market." Has any other president said it – at least in the context Obama keeps saying it? That's rhetorical.

Sure, Ronald Reagan talked about the glories of capitalism frequently, but never in terms of trying to convince skeptics that he really believed what he was saying.

But Obama said it again in that very context, in his Wall Street speech in New York yesterday. "As I said two years ago on this stage, I believe in the power of the free market." Believe me; he didn't go on to elaborate on the wonders of entrepreneurship, capital formation, liberty or the robust economic growth that free markets produce and which cannot be replicated, with any faint degree of consistency, in command-control economies.

Indeed, just one sentence later, Obama added one of his ubiquitous free-market qualifiers. He said, "But a free market was never meant to be a free license to take whatever you can get however you can get it."

Excuse me? Please tell me one capitalist who believes that a free market is synonymous with a license to steal. None does. They all understand that our capitalist system operates under the rule of law. We already have laws preventing stealing, fraud and the like. So why does he have to frame the issue in such distorted extremes? Also rhetorical.

But let me ask you something: could Obama make the same statements about the federal government, as in, "I believe in the power of the federal government, but the federal government was never supposed to have a license to take whatever it can get however it can get it"?

Sure he could make the statement, but would he mean it? Rhetorical. Surely we can all agree that he has far more confidence in the federal government than in the invisible hand of the free market. In fact, Obama leftists these days are coming out of the woodwork to condemn conservatives and other free-market advocates for believing that capitalism can possibly work without the constant heavy hand of government regulation pressing down on evil entrepreneurs for their excess profiteering.

Raised and mentored at the feet of capitalist-hating leftists, Obama repeatedly reveals a visceral distaste for profits. And I don't mean so-called "excess" or "ill-gotten" profits only, but just plain old profits. Obama thinks, like a Marxist, that profits are "surplus value" stolen by capitalists from laborers who produce the wealth.

He is obviously so deeply steeped in Marxist indoctrination that he believes that prices are only high because of profits. In his static view, only a government-controlled system can cut out those evil profits and maintain reasonable prices. He apparently has no concept of – or any appreciable real-world experience validating – the ability of the market, through competition, to produce higher-quality goods at lower prices.

'Generation Zero' and its impact on America ~ By Jerome Corsi

Jerome Corsi writes about the new documentary, "Generation Zero," produced by Citizens United head David N. Bossie and writer/director Stephen K. Bannon.
In writing "The Obama Nation," I have to agree with "Generation Zero"'s indictment of President Obama as a far-left radical trained as a community organizer in the Saul Alinsky model.

But in writing "America for Sale," I would argue that Bossie and Bannon fail to appreciate how globalism and "new world order" free-trade politics of both the Republican and Democratic parties have shaped much of today's economics, regardless of whether the White House is controlled by the political left or the political right.

"Generation Zero," a new documentary produced by Citizens United head David N. Bossie and writer/director Stephen K. Bannon presents a compelling indictment of runaway federal budgets under President Barack Obama.

As such, "Generation Zero" will become an important statement dedicated to expressing the core concerns of the millions of independent voters and middle-class Americans participating in the rapidly emerging tea-party movement.

"Generation Zero" is Bossie and Bannon's name for the now retiring baby boomers who were born into unprecedented prosperity made possible by the economic sacrifices of their Depression-era grandparents and the valor of their World War II-generation parents.

The documentary attributes the U.S. fiscal meltdown to undisciplined baby boomers coming to maturity and gaining power.

In the 1950s, parents determined that their children would be sheltered from the economic hardships of the 1930s and the wartime sacrifices of the 1940s; their offspring were coddled growing up in a childhood of Beaver Cleaver suburbs.

"Turning on" and "dropping out," the Woodstock generation rebelled, turning against traditional American values and embracing instead the anti-American anger of the far-left.

Internalizing Saul Alinsky's call to use Machiavellian principles that the "end justifies the means," a long list of far-left activists since the 1960s, culminating in Barack Obama, preached social justice in their bald pursuit of political power.

The unrelenting goal of the Alinsky-coached political left is to redistribute wealth from America's "haves" to the "have-nots" in a conviction that America is a racist nation that produces a social inequality only reversible by an attack on capitalism itself.

The inevitable result, Bossie and Bannon argue, was the creation of an ever-expanding government-funded welfare state Americans can no longer afford.

Now with Barack Obama in the White House, Bossie and Bannon argue, "Generation Zero" has added control of the White House to the political left's already achieved control of the mainstream media and academia.

By passing health-care reform, the Obama White House is determined to explore the final socialist frontier of socialized medicine as a necessary step, regardless of the cost.

Can't we at least get a toaster? ~ By Ann Coulter

Commentary from WorldNetDaily
Ann Coulter By Ann Coulter Posted: January 27, 2010 ~ 6:09 pm Eastern © 2010 In the wake of the Massachusetts Miracle last week ("The other Boston Massacre"), President Obama adopted a populist mantle, claiming he was going to "fight" Wall Street. It was either that or win another Nobel Peace Prize. Now the only question is which Goldman Sachs crony he'll put in charge of this task. If Obama plans to hold Wall Street accountable for its own bad decisions, it will be a first for the Democrats. For the past two decades, Democrats have specialized in insulating financial giants from the consequences of their own high-risk bets. Citigroup and Goldman Sachs alone have been rescued from their risky bets by unwitting taxpayers four times in the last 15 years. Bankers get all the profits, glory and bonuses when their flimflam bets pay off, but the taxpayers foot the bill when Wall Street firms' bets go bad on – to name just three examples – Mexican bonds (1995), Thai, Indonesian and South Korean bonds (1997) and Russian bonds (1998). As Peter Schweizer writes in his magnificent book "Architects of Ruin": "Wall Street is a very far cry from the arena of freewheeling capitalism most people recall from their history books." With their reverse-Midas touch, the execrable baby boom generation turned Wall Street into what Schweizer dubs "risk-free Clintonian state capitalism." Apropos of the Clintonian No-Responsibility Era, Goldman Sachs and Citibank became heavily invested in Mexican bonds after a two-day bender in Tijuana in the early '90s. Any half-wit could see that "investing" in the dog track would be safer than investing in a corrupt Third World government controlled by drug lords. But precisely because the bonds were so risky, bankers made money hand-over-fist on the scheme – at least until Mexico defaulted. With Mexico unable to pay the $25 billion it owed the big financial houses, Clinton's White House decided the banks shouldn't be on the hook for their own bad bets. Clinton's treasury secretary, Robert Rubin, former chairman of Goldman, demanded that the U.S. bail out Mexico to save his friends at Goldman. He said a failure to bail out Mexico would affect "everyone," by which I take it he meant "everyone in my building." Larry Summers, currently Obama's National Economic Council director, warned that a failure to rescue Mexico would lead to another Great Depression. (Ironically, Summers' current position in the Obama administration is "Great Depression czar.") Republicans in Congress said "no" to Clinton's Welfare-for-Wall-Street plan. It's not as if this hadn't happened before: In 1981, Reagan allowed Mexico to default on tens of billions of dollars in debt – Mexico claimed the money was "in my other pair of pants" – leaving Wall Street to deal with its own bad bets. As Larry Summers expected, this led like night into day to the Great Depression we experienced during the Reagan years ... Wait, that never happened. READ FULL STORY >

What Recession? Congresscritters Give Themselves $93K Raise!

It took me a few days before I found this one that was on Gateway Pundit. This story needs to gain exposure. Do not forget what they are doing!
Beautiful. At the same time Obama is wagging his finger at Wall Street for their year end bonuses and auto executives are being harassed for flying on private jets, the Democratic-led congress just gave each lawmaker an extra $93,000 in petty cash to spend. After all, it takes a lot of money to spend other people's money...

The missing SNL bailout skit - By Michelle Malkin

A surprisingly honest skit on Saturday Night Live about the craptastic bailout and its Democrat roots was pulled by NBC. The skit called out Fannie/Freddie and featured Nancy Pelosi dragging out various “victims” and lampooned the Sandlers and Soros. Michelle suspects there were a few high-placed phone calls, and down the memory hole it went. And the good thing is, the memory hole is leaking! What critics missed about treasury chief - By Jerome Corsi

OBAMA WATCH CENTRAL

Geithner presided over Wall Street collapse as regional Fed president

By Jerome R. Corsi © 2009 WorldNetDaily NEW YORK – While the nomination of Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner generated plenty of heat because of his failure to pay income taxes for five years, almost unnoticed amid the controversy is the fact that he presided over the failure of some of the largest banking institutions in the world – institutions he was charged with overseeing and regulating as head of the New York region of the Federal Reserve Bank. On Nov. 17, 2003, Geithner became the ninth president and chief executive officer of the Federal Reserve Bank, a position he held until he was nominated by President Obama as treasury secretary. The Federal Reserve's charter makes it responsible for the strength of the financial institutions operating in each of its 12 regional districts. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York presides over Wall Street-based financial institutions. [Continue Reading]
