Why do Democrats oppose ballot integrity? ~ By Tom Tancredo

That there is a serious debate over this proposal may be another indicator of cultural balkanization. Maybe we as a society are losing sight of the special quality and unique privileges of citizenship. It is possible that what is under attack in this instance is not the burden of producing birth certificates or naturalization papers – which we must do on numerous other occasions in our lives – but an attack on the concept of citizenship itself.
Tom Tancredo asks several great questions in light of a decision by a legislative committee in Colorado not to put forth a proposal to require the proof of citizenship in order to register to vote. The obvious goal of the legislation was to keep ballot integrity, and an attempt to keep voting limited to natural born or naturalized citizens. The Democrats on the committee out-voted their Republican counterparts, and Tom explains why their excuse is invalid.
If the Democratic Party wishes to grant illegal aliens the right to vote, it should be honest and propose a law to that effect instead of insulting our intelligence with talk of "lifestyle issues." That proposal might win support in some quarters, and might even be enacted into law some day if a majority of Americans come to think in terms now popular in the Colorado Democrat Caucus.

Last Wednesday in Colorado, a committee of the State Senate voted to kill a bill to require proof of citizenship to register to vote. The vote was along party lines: All three Democrat legislators voted against the bill, and the committee's two Republicans voted for it.

Why has the integrity of our voter rolls become a partisan issue?

The main argument heard against the proposal was that it would impose significant burdens on some individuals with unconventional "lifestyles." A utility bill ought to be enough, apparently.

Another bogus argument is that somehow the requirement to show a birth certificate or naturalization papers violates a person's civil rights. But federal courts have ruled many times that the requirement for basic documentary evidence of citizenship is not an onerous burden intended to obstruct voting by any minority of citizens. This argument, in fact, turns logic on its head, but that does not deter the opponents of ballot integrity.

We are not talking here about producing birth certificates to vote on Election Day, only for registering to vote, which people do only when they register the first time or move across state lines. Very little identification is required to vote on Election Day, but that is a different topic.

Shouldn't there be some reasonable safeguards to guarantee that the votes of qualified electors are not canceled out by the votes of persons who are not citizens? Evidently, that idea is now controversial among Colorado Democrat leaders.

Admittedly, given the current technology available for counterfeit documents, the requirement of a birth certificate is not a foolproof method of establishing citizenship. But it should be an acceptable minimum standard.

The concept of ballot integrity is so fundamental that it is hard for ordinary citizens to comprehend opposition to such basic safeguards as proof of citizenship. Does the Democratic Party have a vested interest in lax standards for voter registration?

'Love and a birth certificate' ~ By Joseph Farah

When I was watching the video of the White House Correspondent's Dinner, and Obama was trying to be funny about his birth certificate (what he said will be told in the column below), I immediately thought of Joseph Farah, and wondered if he happened to catch that.  Apparently, Joseph heard it, too.

While this column leads off with the story about Obama's lame attempt at humor regarding his birth certificate, it is really about the fact that WorldNetDaily wasn't allowed to attend the Correspondent's dinner, and why it probably happened.  In the following pull-quote that I used, it explains why I've been a loyal WND reader, and why I don't feel I could ever have much faith in the establishment press.
My job is to serve as a watchdog on government and other powerful institutions – a role my colleagues feel increasingly uncomfortable fulfilling.

It is my job to expose corruption, fraud, waste and abuse wherever I find it.

It is my job to point out when the emperor is wearing no clothes – or when he is essentially an undocumented worker.

You think I'm obsessed with Barack Obama's birth certificate?

How about Barack Obama?

Lately he's been trying to make a joke about it.

He was saying there are few things in life harder to find and more important to keep than love.

"Well, love and a birth certificate," he said. "I happen to know that my approval ratings are still very high in the country of my birth."

The semi-official Associated Press account of the dinner led with this angle, quickly adding: "Obama was born in Hawaii, but birthers question whether he was born overseas."

Do you understand now why WND was the only established news organization to be denied a presence in the dinner Saturday night?

The Associated Press asserts with no attribution, no evidence, no explanation that Obama was born Hawaii. Presumably they also take for granted that his parents are who he claims them to be – again with no hard documentary evidence. Yet, assuming Barack Obama Sr. was his daddy, Obama is no more than a "native-born citizen," not a "natural-born citizen," his father having been a Kenyan citizen and a subject of the United Kingdom.

I would suggest it is my renegade curiosity about Obama's nativity and my general opinion of him as the least experienced, least competent and most radical and most anti-American president in U.S. history that made me and my news organization unwelcome at the affair. The fact that we have filed a $10 million lawsuit against the correspondents association is no more likely to endear me to my colleagues than my maverick style of journalism.

But I don't care.

Not since I was a cub reporter have I considered it my journalistic duty to impress my colleagues.

Obamanites get violent in support of the agenda ~ By Roger Hedgecock

Are we getting very close to the "tipping point?" Roger thinks so. In fact, he says the tipping point is already here.
Get ready folks. As the U.S. Navy Seals say, "The only easy day was yesterday." Ahead lies a long, hot summer.

The Obama regime will attempt to stuff the ballot box in this year's elections with amnestied illegal aliens (undocumented Democrats) herded by reconstituted ACORN shock troops emboldened by loosened voter registration standards in the states.

Patriots opposing Obama's push to stuff the rest of his agenda down the country's throat can expect the full force of government pushback. The tipping point is here.

Last Saturday, a brick bearing the message "stop the right wing" smashed through the window of the Republican Party headquarters in Marion, Ohio. An Obama campaign contributor was arrested last week after threatening to kill Rep. Cantor and his wife because they are Jews. The registered voter in the "Christian militia" arrests turns out to be a Democrat.

Fill in your own incident – the real dangerous political violence in America is coming from the Obamanite left.

Be warned. The Obama regime considers opposition to its long march to "transform America" illegitimate and a fair target for government retaliation and violent retribution.

You can tell this is true not only from the spreading incidences of such violence, but also from the frantic propaganda assault by the government-controlled media claiming that the violence is actually coming from conservative opponents to the Obamanite agenda. Read your Alinsky. "Community organizers" are taught to accuse your enemies of using the dastardly tactics you are using on them.

In Sunday's New York Times, the tea-party movement is compared to the violent Weather Underground of the 1960s. A recent picture of a peaceful tea-party protest is placed side by side with a black-and-white file photo of violent Weather Underground radicals – and guess who's in that picture? None other than bomber Bill Ayers himself.

So, the newspaper of record for the Obamanite left wants you to believe that peacefully standing up for the restoration of the Constitution and for the return to an opportunity society and a free-market economy is the equivalent of bombing the Pentagon to help America's enemies win the Vietnam War.

We've been through this "left slimes conservatives to cover up its own violent tactics" before.

In the book "Harvest of Rage," subtitled "Why Oklahoma City is only the Beginning," author Joel Dyer blamed Reagan for the desperation of farmers in the '80s which caused Timothy McVeigh's bombing and, says the author, will inspire many more returning disgruntled right-wing veterans to similar violence. Really Joel?

At the time of the Oklahoma City bombing, President Clinton publicly blamed Rush Limbaugh and talk radio for the climate of violence that led to McVeigh, ignoring and suppressing all contrary evidence of McVeigh's ties to radical Islam.

This false template lives on in the Obama regime.
