Time 2 Escape Daily for Sunday, Jan 8, 2012

After what I wrote Thursday, I thought that you should be reassured that everything possible will be done to make sure you will still see Time 2 Escape Daily posts on a fairly regular basis.  Not everything in life is easy, and most of us face challenges at times that may seem overwhelming.

I really wanted to get out a new Time 2 Escape Daily post yesterday, and the day before, but it didn't happen. I started one, but ended up with way too many aggravating interruptions. The motivating factor that was trying to move me around, over, or through the obstacles was when I read Ralph Marston's Daily Motivator for the Friday:

Even if ~ By Ralph Marston
From The Daily Motivator ~ Friday, January 6, 2012

Even if the challenges are immense and the obstacles are many, step forward and live the life you choose to live. Your dreams are worth every effort.

Even if you get knocked down again and again, get right back up and get going. With enough persistence, any goal is within your reach.  READ MORE

Herman Cain launches bus tour to promote 9-9-9
Former GOP candidate: 'I'm not going away'
From Los Angeles Times (via WND) ~ By Kim Geiger ~ Jan 5, 2012, 11:54 a.m.

It’s been a month since Herman Cain dropped out of the GOP presidential race, but the retired pizza chain executive is going back on the road.

Cain, who ended his campaign after being dogged by persistent allegations of sexual harassment and an affair, warned at the time that he wouldn’t fade from the spotlight, pledging to move forward with a “plan b” approach to push his policy ideas.

“The biggest comment that I got when I ended my candidacy was, ‘Keep 9-9-9 alive,’” Cain told Fox’s Sean Hannity in an interview last night.   READ MORE

Columnists and Their Commentaries:

Obama’s harassment of Sheriff Joe ~ By Tom Tancredo
Exclusive: Tom Tancredo drubs BHO for punishing lawman over immigration enforcement
From WND ~ Published Friday, Jan 6, 2012

As part of the Obama administration’s lawsuit against Arizona’s new law, SB 1070, President Obama’s lawyers had an Immigration and Custom’s Enforcement bureaucrat, Daniel Ragsdale, file a brief to the court against the state of Arizona. What Ragsdale said about immigration law enforcement gives the lie both to the Obama lawsuit and to the administration’s current attacks on Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

ICE bureaucrat Ragsdale argued that Arizona did not need SB 1070 because the feds were already enforcing immigration law in the state. He even allowed for some cooperation with local officials. Ragsdale specifically noted that as part of the vigorous federal enforcement operation, “Phoenix … has a fugitive operations team, a robust criminal alien program, and it manages the 287(g) programs in the counties of Maricopa, Yavapai, and Pinal, as well as at the Arizona Department of Corrections.” READ MORE

Jesus or Robin Hood? ~ By Patrice Lewis
Exclusive: Patrice Lewis challenges those claiming Christ was a socialist
From WND ~ Published Friday, Jan 6, 2012

Social justice, one of the buzzwords of the progressives, is not the same as caring for the poor. Forced redistribution of wealth is not charitable. It’s easy to get the government to do your “charitable” work for you. It’s much more difficult to be charitable on your own, even though we are biblically instructed to do so time and time again. Government programs of theft and entitlement do not make someone compassionate. Compassion is donating one’s own time, money and resources – not taking someone else’s possessions for that purpose.  READ MORE

Good can come from it ~ By Ralph Marston
From The Daily Motivator ~ Saturday, Jan 7, 2012

Don’t let yourself be discouraged by the shortcomings and disappointments that come your way. Instead, quickly look for the positive opportunities in them.

Always remember that no matter what the situation may be, there is good that can come from it. And you can be the person who brings that goodness to life.   READ MORE

Obama spies, freedom dies ~ By Roger Hedgecock

Roger Hedgecock is trying to find out why there's no outrage from the left regarding Obama's abuse of power and the Constitution's 4th Amendment rights. As we know, the liberals' favorite talking points prior to Barack Obama's inauguration was how George W. Bush was violating our rights with the Patriot act and the water-boarding of several terrorists. But now? Roger writes:
But now that Obama has made a virtual American KGB out of the Justice Department, the FBI, and the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the CDC, such spying and tracking is becoming standard operating procedure. Where is the liberal angst and outrage? All you hear is crickets chirping.

Liberals screamed like mashed cats when George Bush championed the Patriot Act in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks, predicting that precious constitutional protections would be routinely violated by the Bush government.

It turns out liberals were right. But not about George Bush. He used the Patriot Act to monitor communications and transactions of suspected terrorists – particularly when the terrorist was, say, calling Pakistan.

Liberal fears that this power would be abused and turned on ordinary American citizens has turned out to be right – in the Obama administration.

During the 2008 campaign, Obama promised a domestic security force equal in funding and force to the Pentagon. This is one promise he is keeping.

The 67,000 strong Transportation Security Administration has morphed into taking nude pictures and/or engaging in full genital groping of airline passengers in the name of safety.

Arizona is right to defend against foreign invasion ~ By Alan Keyes

Despite the strain on my brain to read some of Alan Keyes' columns, this one is a MUST READ (and remember to keep dictionary.com open in another browser window or tab!). This column will explain why Arizona could pass the law that enforces immigration laws - to protect it's own citizens against a foreign invasion - and why it does not infringe on the federal laws. As Alan will explain, there is plenty of support for what Arizona has done in the Constitution of the United States, and he provides the evidence and excellent examples.
Common sense rebels against this idiocy, which is why the framers of the U.S. Constitution allowed for areas of concurrent jurisdiction by the states and the federal government. Where the federal government is actively seeking to enforce federal law in such matters, it makes sense to recognize the primacy of its jurisdiction. But it is evident insanity to insist that, when federal officials unlawfully refuse to investigate, apprehend and prosecute criminal acts that directly damage the people of a state, this unlawful dereliction is constitutionally enjoined upon the state's government.

"On the other hand, when the citizens are all more or less equal, it becomes difficult to defend their freedom from the encroachments of power. No one among them being any longer strong enough to struggle alone with success, only the combination of the forces of all is able to guarantee liberty. But such a combination is not always forthcoming." (Tocqueville, "Democracy in America," Part I, Chapter 3)

Sometimes clear and simple observations offer the key to understanding complex and gravely important crises. So it is with Alexis de Tocqueville's observation about the inverse relationship between the equality of citizens in a free republic and their ability to keep liberty from being destroyed by abuses of government power. Many Americans have begun to realize that the liberty we have taken for granted in the United States is now being assaulted by a range of powerful political, economic and social forces. Some have also realized that these forces can no longer be exclusively identified with one or the other of the two abusively entrenched political parties. Both parties appear to be dominated at that national level by elitist forces aiming to replace the sovereignty of the American people with an oligarchic form of government that uses the outward appearance of election by the people to legitimize outcomes predetermined by a coalition of elites. These elite forces are deceptively diverse in outward appearance, but they are actually united in their contemptuous distaste for (and impatience with) democratic republican liberty.

Nowhere is the ironic unity of these elites more apparent than when dealing with the issue of illegal immigration. Acting from a common-sense instinct for self-preservation, the decisive majority of the American people oppose the elite, bipartisan policy that has willfully neglected the security of America's borders; purposefully refused to enforce laws against illegal immigration; and persistently sought or implemented measures (amnesty, a shortened path to citizenship, lax supervision of the voters' rolls, etc.) that may carelessly dump millions of new so-called citizens into the electorate with no regard for the parlous state of their allegiance to or identification with the democratic, federal republic established by the Constitution of the United States.

As a case in point, consider the reaction of the supposedly competing major parties to Arizona's effort to respect and cooperate with federal laws against illegal immigration. The Obama faction deploys its now commonplace arsenal of race-baiting verbal terrorism, along with menaces of U.S. government action against any state that dares to heed and obey federal laws they mean to disobey and defy. At the same time, well-known or rising GOP figures join in the irrational and unwarranted chorus of criticism.

All appear to believe that state law enforcement officials have no right to recognize and apprehend those suspected of federal crimes. They decry the idea that state legislatures may pass laws that subject suspects to arrest and turn them over to federal authorities. Let's ignore the fact that, as a general rule, this would wreak havoc in other areas of concurrent state and federal jurisdiction (with respect to criminal acts like murder, bank robbery or extortion, for example). Do they mean to say that the forces of local law enforcement should henceforth do nothing to interfere with people who have violated federal laws? Or is it only federal immigration laws that they wish them to disregard? Do they want state legislatures to remove from the books any state statutes that make criminals liable to prosecution at the state level for acts also made criminal by federal law? This will come as a great relief to people growing marijuana and/or making and distributing other forms of intoxicants as part of the deadly international drug trade.

Amnesty vs. true immigration reform: Part 1 ~ By Tom Tancredo

Commentary from WorldNetDaily
Tom Tancredo By Tom Tancredo Posted: January 16, 2010 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2010 In the heated debate over immigration reform, we seldom hear this simple truth uttered by anyone: Amnesty is the enemy of true immigration reform. Amnesty for persons in the country unlawfully exacerbates and magnifies every single problem our immigration system faces, yet advocates for "comprehensive immigration reform" never fail to make amnesty the centerpiece of their plans. This contradiction reveals a different agenda. They aim not to fix our broken immigration system but to destroy it. An attempt at genuine immigration reform would identify specific problems and propose specific solutions, with each proposal debated on its merits regarding its costs, ramifications and so forth. Instead, the amnesty advocates start with their political agenda and then argue backwards to find justifications for it. Let's take border security as an example. Eighty percent of Americans believe we need border security as a precondition for immigration reform. No one can deny that without secure borders, laws attempting to set limits or rules for immigrating to the United States are meaningless. Yet instead of fixing the problem, we see a hundred different excuses and dodges. Yes, Border Patrol apprehensions are down by 40 percent from the high levels of 2001-2005. Does it mean we do not have a border-security problem? No. Every newspaper in Mexico and Central America is full of stories indicating that the exodus northward will resume when the U.S. economy recovers from the recession. Besides, how many Americans think that 700,000 unidentified persons entering the country illegally each year across our northern and southern borders is an acceptable level of security? Stopping the next amnesty is not enough ~ By Tom Tancredo

From WorldNetDaily
Tom TancredoBy Tom Tancredo Posted: November 07, 2009 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 If you think a congressional amnesty for 15 million illegal aliens is a bad idea, think about a stealth amnesty for 50 million. That's what we've got now even without any new legislation from the 111th Congress. Whether or not Obama pushes for the new amnesty – which will again be packaged as "comprehensive immigration reform" as it was in 2006 and 2007 – proponents of border security and immigration control need to look beyond that battle. We need a strategy to end the stealth amnesty created through non-enforcement of our immigration laws. Non-enforcement is the policy of our federal government on our borders, in our employment laws, in our courtrooms and in our school buildings. Non-enforcement allows at least 2 million illegal aliens to join our society each year – a million coming across our open borders and at least another million coming on tourist visas, student visas and guest worker visas, and then never going home. Those people are called "visa overstays," and the number is at least 20 million and growing daily. Non-enforcement of our immigration laws needs to be called by its correct name, stealth amnesty, and it needs to be confronted. Stopping a new legislative amnesty is vital, but that does not begin to deal with the ongoing, continuous amnesty-by-stealth that is now the official policy of the federal government – and many state and local governments as well. The Border Patrol trumpets the fact that official apprehension numbers on the border are down for the third straight year from the high of 1.1 million in 2005. That's a good thing, but those numbers do not tell the whole story. Apprehension numbers are down in part because Border Patrol manpower has been doubled to 18,500 since 2001, and 350 miles of border fencing has been built. So, why has the Obama administration put a freeze on new fence construction and a halt to Border Patrol recruitment? [CLICK HERE TO READ MORE]

Agent accuses Sutton of cover-up in drug murders - By Jerome Corsi

Informant in case handled by prosecutor of Ramos-Compean seeks asylum By Jerome R. Corsi © 2009 WorldNetDaily U.S. Attorney Johnny SuttonA Mexican national's appeal in federal court for asylum because of his work as an American government-paid informant against the drug cartel marked another chapter in a case in which a former Drug Enforcement Agency special agent continues to allege the U.S. government – including U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton – is hiding its complicity in the cartel's murder of more than a dozen people. Guillermo Eduardo Ramirez-Peyro, better known as "Lalo," appeared in federal court earlier this week to fight extradition, arguing his life would be in jeopardy if he were forced to return to Mexico. Lalo, according to Sandy Gonzalez, a former special agent in charge at the DEA office in El Paso, Texas, wore recording devices and taped at least one of the tortures and murders of more than a dozen people between July 2003 and January 2004. The murders allegedly were orchestrated by the Santillan family, headed by Heriberto Santillan-Tabares, a top operative in the Ciudad Juarez drug cartel. Gonzalez told WND he believes Sutton was aware of the "House of Death" murders, prompting a letter in February 2004 to the prosecutor alleging possible criminal violations by U.S. government officials. "Instead of investigating my complaints, Sutton complained about me to the DEA and the Justice Department in Washington," Gonzalez told WND. "My superiors in Washington told me to leave this matter alone and to be quiet." Gonzalez asserts the mainstream media have left unreported the active role of El Paso-based U.S. Attorney Sutton, the Department of Justice, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement [ICE], the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Department of Homeland Security in an ongoing, elaborate cover-up. Gonzalez says that although Santillan was prosecuted under drug and murder charges, Sutton allowed the drug kingpin to plead guilty to the drug charges, with the agreement the murder charges would be dropped. Sutton's office did not respond to repeated requests by WND for comment. The Department of Homeland Security also did not respond. The Drug Enforcement Administration referred WND to the Department of Justice, but the DOJ did not reply. [Continue reading]
