Tangling with progressives ~ By Burt Prelutsky

Well, at least I know I wasn't alone in the feeling that I had about James Cameron's "Avatar." It seems that Burt picked up on the environment whacko stuff in that movie just as I did. Oh, but Burt doesn't just pick on the crazy environmental activists; he goes after the Progressives for many of the things they are doing to us, such as ObamaCare.

Speaking of health care, who exactly are those 32 million uninsured people who will die in the streets unless Obamacare is implemented? So far as I can figure, there are two groups who make up the 32 million. The first group consists of young people who don't wish to blow their money on something as unsexy as health insurance when they could be spending it on booze and recreational drugs, and the second group is made up of illegal aliens. So it is for their sake Obama wants to destroy the world's finest health-care system and gobble up one-sixth of the nation's economy. Welcome to his world.

It seems that those on the political left change their labels nearly as often as ACORN changes its name. One day, they're calling themselves communists and socialists, then it's Democrats and next it's liberals. They're like professional grifters who move from one town to another just before the local cops close them down and toss them in the clink. They change their names and their con games, but one thing they don't change is their spots.

I, personally, find it odd that some of these leftists, such as Hillary Clinton, have taken to calling themselves progressives. The reason I find it so peculiar is because back in 1948, Henry Wallace ran for president as the standard bearer for the Progressive Party, which everyone knew was what the Communist Party was calling itself at the time. In fact, it was only thanks to dumb luck that Comrade Wallace wasn't running as the incumbent. After all, he had been FDR's vice president during Roosevelt's third term. Fortunately, FDR was persuaded to dump Wallace and run with Truman in 1944. Otherwise, it's safe to assume that the Soviet Union wouldn't have had to rely on the likes of Julius Rosenberg, Morton Sobell and Alan May to provide them with the plans for the A-bomb.

But, by whatever name the leftist loons call themselves, a conservative could drive himself batty trying to figure out what passes for their thought process. For instance, James Cameron spent hundreds of millions of dollars to produce "Avatar," a movie that required every last bit of advanced cinematic technology. The end result was a three-hour movie condemning modern technology.

At least, unlike Cameron, most of his fellow environs are consistent. They're nuts, but they're consistent. Alexander the Great allegedly wept because he had no new worlds to conquer; the environs would weep if they had no new worlds to destroy.

Pandora or Wonderland? ~ By John Kubicek

When writing this, I did my best to not give away too much out of respect for those who haven't seen either of the movies yet, so there were things that I would have mentioned, but didn't. However, there could be a sequel down the road! No, not a movie sequel, but a sequel to this column!

Let not your heart be troubled, because there is help on it’s way. The radical agenda can be defeated, but we must all be willing to take back Wonderland. We are definitely not living on Pandora. It isn’t capitalism that is our enemy, or our main threat. It is the people that want to be the Red Queen.


Some people will prefer to live on Pandora. But me? Give me Wonderland after tyranny is defeated, any day.

My weekend (which is actually Monday and Tuesday) was a catastrophe. As much as I wanted to write this piece, things didn’t work out If it wasn’t my computer having it’s own microsoft-moments, it was my brain. When after two days of dealing with the wonders of technology, and I got my first version of this written, I somehow found a way to lose it all before I could get it posted. So, here I go again.

And it’s funny that technology brought me to writing this (again) today. I had to go find out if 3-D films were actually worth a few extra dollars. For that reason, around a month ago, I went to see Avatar. Yes, I was totally impressed with the 3-D, let alone the awesome scenery views. But then, less than an hour after the movie had ended, I was thinking about the message the movie had sent… to millions of people.

They say a picture can paint a thousand words. So, how many words can a cool, popular 3-D cinematic miracle paint? How about telling people that Capitalists are out to do what ever it takes for a profit? To top it all off, it made it almost laughable, Avatar shows the capitalist pigs killing off a very large tree.

"Is the digital age cutting us off from aliens?" This was the question asked Monday by Chris Matyszczyk. Matyszczyk cites a conference in London, organized by the United Kingdom's national academy of science, whose purpose is to discuss extraterrestrial life. A Dr. Frank Drake, described as "the world's leading ET hunter," apparently worries that digital technology is effectively screening us from other forms of life somewhere out there. According to Drake, who founded SETI (the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence), digital signals beamed into space would "look like noise," unlike analog signals.

Half a century ago, Drake devised an equation that, according to Govert Schilling, "expresses the number (N) of 'observable civilizations' that exist in our Milky Way galaxy as a simple multiplication of several, more approachable unknowns." Fifty years later, SETI has found no evidence of those civilizations.

The fact that we, as human beings, wonder if there is intelligent alien life somewhere out there is not a surprise. It is only natural to wonder if one is alone; it is part of the human condition, part of what drives us to create, to innovate and to educate ourselves. We see a fence – and we wonder what is on the other side. We see a door – and we wonder what lies within. We look up into the incredible, endless depths of space – and we wonder what could be out there, stretched across a vista that is incomprehensibly eternal. Contemplating such mind-bending mystery, we often turn to God and wonder if the answers might lie there.

The debate in religious circles over alien life has waxed and waned. Some conservative Christians believe that the existence of intelligent life elsewhere in the universe is contradictory to their belief system. Others have speculated that the reference to "sheep ... not of this fold" in John 10:16 is a reference to the existence of alien beings. There are even those who believe that certain accounts in the Bible (such as in Ezekiel) actually describe encounters with aliens or alien spacecraft, as described in the famous "Chariots of the Gods" by Erich von Daniken.

'Avatar' abominations: Get rid of those pesky humans! ~ By Dr. Ted Baehr

From WorldNetDaily I just saw the movie, "Avatar," last Tuesday (Jan. 12, 2010), in the 3-D version. What I told people about it was very similar to what Dr. Baehr and Mr. Snyder write in this column I came across tonight. I told people that I loved the cinematography, the special effects, and the plot was "interesting". However, as I explained, it was quite disturbing how anti-capitalism and anti-American it was. The part I missed saying, but that Baehr and Snyder mention, is how quite anti-HUMAN the story is. Hey, other than that, good movie and I recommend seeing it (in 3-D).

The major problem with "Avatar" is that Cameron tells a story that hates people. In the story, a group of nature-worshipping aliens triumph over the greedy, evil human corporations that want to destroy their planet. The aliens eventually send the humans back to a dying earth to die. How marvelous! If you think this sounds as if Al Gore wrote the script for "Avatar," not James Cameron, you may be right. This theme of kill all the humans, especially the pro-American, capitalist humans, has long been an underlying message of the left-wing, environmentalist movement, beginning with Rachel Carson's hysterical plea to ban DDT, even though, to this day, there is no evidence that DDT is harmful to humans or the environment, and even though the use of DDT can save millions of human lives from the deadly disease of malaria. Many millions of malaria deaths later, along comes "Avatar" to, once again, cast human beings, especially militaristic capitalists, as the super-villain and to create heroes out of a bunch of pagan primitives who have achieved an idyllic, but impossible, at-one-ment with nature. For hundreds of years, the pagan, communist ideas expressed in this movie circulated among a threadbare group of outcasts with dirty fingernails and greasy hair, who shared their obtuse, occult ideas amongst themselves with manic, alienated glee. Now, James Cameron has made these insane views the major bulwark of a very spectacular movie, but the spectacle does not make these Neo-Marxist views any more coherent, rational or uplifting.
