I'm not sure if this is another example of the left's wishful-thinking method of analysis or if they're seriously trying to trick the Blue Dog Democrats into believing it. But I gather liberals consider the 1994 argument an important point because it was on the front page of the New York Times a few weeks ago in place of a story about Van Jones or ACORN. According to a news story by Jackie Calmes: "In 1994, Democrats' dysfunction over fulfilling a new president's campaign promise contributed to the party's loss of its 40-year dominance of Congress." That's not the way I remember it. The way I remember it, Republicans swept Congress in 1994 not because Clinton failed to nationalize health care, but because he tried to nationalize health care. Hillarycare failed because most Americans didn't want it. (For more on this, see "Obamacare.") Bill Clinton had run as an old-school, moderate Democrat and then, as soon as he got elected, immediately became Che Guevara. (What is it with all our black presidents and these bait-and-switch tactics?) Instead of pursuing "mend it, don't end it" on welfare and no "middle-class tax hike" – as Clinton promised during the campaign – he raised taxes, signed ridiculous gun restrictions into law, enacted "midnight basketball" as the solution to urban crime, announced that he was putting gays in the military and let Hillary run riot over health care. But just to check my recollection, I looked up the Times' own coverage of the 1994 congressional races. Republicans won a landslide election in 1994 based largely on the "Contract With America," which, according to the Times, promised "tax cuts, more military spending and a balanced-budget amendment." Far from complaining about Clinton incompetently failing to pass health care, the Times reported that Republicans were "unabashedly claiming credit for tying Congress up in knots." I've constructed similar analogies before, so bear with me if this sounds a little familiar: You live in an apartment building, down the hall from a pyromaniac who has served time for arson. The problem is that he's been stocking his apartment with all manner of flammable sundries over the last couple of weeks, and there's every reason to believe he's planning something particularly horrendous. What's really scary is that the group of tenants who have met several times over what to do about this guy have, for some reason, prohibited any decisive action be taken, citing grounds such as lack of probable cause, due process and concern that he might bring a lawsuit if confronted. In fact, the building superintendent has promised sanctions against anyone who goes to the police or the landlord. What's even scarier: Members of your own family agree with the other tenants. This is analogous to the situation that the U.S. faces vis-à-vis North Korea, the Islamic Republic if Iran and, to a degree yet to be determined, much of the Islamic world. Many Americans who are not committed leftists agree that American foreign policy has grown increasingly limp-wristed over the last 30 years. Despite the mobilization against Islamic fascists in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, this also includes the administration of George W. Bush in key areas. In days past, the U.S. was willing and able to act unilaterally when tyrants and destabilizing forces emerged on the geopolitical stage. What the majority of Americans do not know is that, for the aforementioned last 30 years, it has been the intent of certain of our leaders and lawmakers that America lose its global preeminence. In many technological demographics, this creates a kind of "arms race" in which a consumer convenience that annoys some is impeded by another consumer convenience designed explicitly to be an impedance. When Caller ID was offered to telephone users, it wasn't long before Caller ID Blocking was also offered. Caller ID Blocking Blocking wasn't far behind; you can now purchase a feature that denies calls to your phone from blocked numbers. When the first radar detectors were introduced, the speed-detection industry responded by introducing "pulse" radar technology – which, sometimes, was as simple as Smoky switching on his radar gun only when he was ready to clock you. Radar detector detectors and even no-way-were-they-ever-legal radar jammers came along somewhere during all of that. Laser speed detectors were introduced after that, making the old radar detectors obsolete, whereupon the radar detection companies introduced detectors that, using line-of-sight sensors, could supposedly detect laser signals in time for you to slow down and avoid a ticket. (Whether that's true depends on how many tickets you've gotten using such gadgets, as I have.) Laser jammers have since been introduced. Not surprisingly, the technology arms race has become more personal. It is now less about legal issues such as caller identification and speed detection, and much more about what simply annoys individuals. Take wireless phone technology, for example. All of us are familiar with the service announcements at the beginning of movies shown in theaters, in which we the audience are urged (sometimes through very clever means) to turn off our wireless phones rather than annoy fellow moviegoers during the film. In fact, the only major news outlet that is providing a steady supply of updated information on the ever-growing scandal is Fox News, the network that broke the story due to the relentless investigative journalism of Glen Beck, who provided a platform from which the 2 courageous young people who went undercover to get the goods could report their findings. Why is it, then, that the former 'mainstream media,' to which I now refer as the 'state-run media' due to their gleeful cheerleading for Obama and refusal to report anything negative about the 'Dear Leader,' refuse to run the story of the young undercover investigators who discovered that ACORN is not only a fraudulent front-group for the get-out-the-vote drive for Obama but an American outpost for the illegal overseas prostitution trade. Girls as young as 13 years of age are involved. Under normal circumstances, such a story would be headline news for weeks if not months as outlet after outlet, including all of the major newspapers, would be delving into the background of corruption that runs through ACORN, and, President Obama's open and obvious longterm relationship with the organization. But these are not normal circumstances. The mainstream media has abdicated its first responsibility in a free society to be a watchdog of government. I started HTFTTF in January 1995, leading about 200 listeners (who paid their own way) to lobby Newt Gingrich and the new Republican House majority to not forget the promises of the "Contract With America," to fulfill their pledges to balance the budget, reform welfare, etc. Speaker Gingrich was so impressed by the sight of ordinary Americans paying their own way to come to D.C. in the dead of winter and asking nothing except that politicians keep their promises, that he allowed me to set up and broadcast from the basement of the Capitol building itself – the first radio talk host to do so. And for awhile the budget was balanced, and welfare was reformed. This decade, the focus of HTFTTF shifted to illegal immigration. In 2007, the McCain-Kennedy immigration "reform" bill had the backing of the Democrats, the Republicans, and President Bush who told us "I'll see you at the bill signing." The advocates of open borders and illegal amnesty had the backing of the chamber of commerce and the AFLCIO, both political parties, the media and the president – and they lost. The amnesty bill was defeated because the American people would not tolerate rewarding law breakers, would not insult the efforts of legal immigrants who played by the rules and knew that illegals in this country increasingly compete for jobs with citizens and legal immigrants, driving down wages and the standard of living for every working American. Half-hearted promises of border control or workplace enforcement would not obscure the fact that McCain-Kennedy was an immediate amnesty grant (the "Z" visa) with a devastating negative impact on jobs, schools, prisons and the social safety net. What I loved about the 9/12 idea is that it was a non-political, non-partisan movement. The 9-12 Project was designed to bring Americans back to the place where we were on Sept. 12, 2001 – the day after America was attacked by terrorists. We were not concerned then with red states, blue states or political parties. We were united as Americans, standing together to protect our nation. On Sept. 12, 2002, we sought to protect our nation against terrorists from without. Beginning on Sept. 12, 2009, we are seeking to protect our nation against enemies of our republic from within. Many of us are protesting the present political direction of Washington. Outrageous borrowing, excessive bailouts, massive spending, speedball stimulus plans, universal hell-care and swings toward socialism are just a few of things that were protested that day. Of course, economics is far from America's only problem, as large as it appears to loom. I want to emphasize: this revolutionary movement is not solely an independent, Republican or Democrat fight. It represents patriots fed up against modernists who seek to overturn almost every principle and tenet laid down by our country's founders at the inception of our republic. From the East Coast to the "Left Coast," America seems to be moving further and further from its founders' vision and government. For example, George Washington advised, "The great rule of conduct in regard to foreign nations is in extending our commercial relations [and] having with them as little political connection as possible." Yet, despite presidential campaign promises, we're slowly pulling out of Iraq, but escalating missions in Afghanistan. NYTimes: White House Asks That Paterson Drop New York Campaign

Paterson that he withdraw from the New York governor’s race, fearing that Mr. Paterson cannot recover from his dismal political standing, according to two senior administration officials and a New York Democratic operative with direct knowledge of the situation. The decision to ask Mr. Paterson to step aside was proposed by political advisers to Mr. Obama, but approved by the president himself, one of the administration officials said. “Is there concern about the situation in New York? Absolutely,” the second administration official said Saturday evening. “Has that concern been conveyed to the governor? Yes.” The administration officials and the Democratic operative spoke on condition of anonymity because the discussions with the governor were intended to be confidential. The president’s request was conveyed to the Mr. Paterson by Representative Gregory W. Meeks, a Queens Democrat, who has developed a strong relationship with the Obama administration, they said. The move against a sitting Democratic governor represents an extraordinary intervention into a state political race by the president, and is a delicate one, given that Mr. Paterson is one of only two African-American governors in the nation. But Mr. Obama’s political team and other party leaders have grown increasingly worried that the governor’s unpopularity could drag down Democratic members of Congress in New York, as well as the Democratic-controlled Legislature, in next fall’s election. By John Kubicek Being this is the first week I've done this, I am sure that some of the followers of this blog may not be aware that I have a youtube channel that goes by TheREALjohnny2k. Well, now you know. But, I know also that not everyone will have time to get to my channel as often as I upload my videos. For this reason, I've decided to start this weekly feature where every Sunday, when you get home from your worship services, you can stop by here and check out what I have added to the channel in the last week. This week, I want to go back an extra couple days, starting with Friday, Sept. 11. I think when you see the video that starts this series off, you'll understand why I wanted to include it. Normally, though, it will be everything that has been added from the previous Sunday until Saturday. Being this is the first week that I've done this, I am sure that there will be improvements and refinements to this weekly feature in the future. This is obviously still in the experimental stage, so let's just see how this goes. I am pretty sure that you will enjoy this opportunity to watch these videos. Most of the videos will be from news segments, though you may be surprised by something special from time to time, such as the first one you'll see today. I should also mention here that the length of the videos will usually be relatively short, from three to six minutes, so it won't take your whole day to get through them all. It will be rare for me to upload more than four or five videos in a week, though this first edition will have a few more since I'm going back an extra day or two. So, are you ready? Great! Latest Gallup polling shows 60 percent saying that President Obama's proposal will not expand health coverage without raising taxes on middle class Americans and without affecting the current quality of health care. Forty-three percent approve of how Obama is handling health care, and 52 percent disapprove. You would be hard pressed to find a Democrat or Republican who does not agree that we can improve how we deliver health care. So the logical conclusion we'd expect now from well-intentioned people would be that we go back to square one. We do what Obama promised but never did – have a truly open, bipartisan discussion, with all ideas are on the table, to generate the best possible product for the American people. Why is this not happening? Because it's not about health care. It's about ideology. Despite claims from our Democrat administration that it wants civility, it does not. It wants control. This nation is already torn apart ideologically. In the last four months we've witnessed two cold-blooded ideologically motivated murders. An abortion doctor shot in a church and a pro-life demonstrator murdered in a drive-by shooting in front of a school. There are fewer and fewer "self-evident truths" about which we all agree. The good and the great things I've enjoyed in my life aren't the result of "luck." God has smiled on me in wonderful ways, beyond even what I dreamed as a young boy in Nashville, Tenn. To begin with, I was born in America. Though I was blessed to be born to exceptional and loving parents, and given a great brother and two beautiful sisters – if I had been born in Mongolia, or Yugoslavia or Pakistan, or indeed anywhere else in the world, my story would have been vastly different. Whatever our individual life circumstances, above all other people on the face of the earth, we in America are the most incredibly blessed. Any honest student of history has to know that the first explorers and settlers who arrived here were Christian people from various backgrounds and occupations, looking for a "promised land" where they could be free and self-governed. Where they could make their own decisions about where they'd live and what they'd do and say, and above all where they could be free to worship God as their Bibles and consciences instructed them. They took enormous, almost incalculable risks, endured tremendous hardships, cut themselves off from everything in their past, and found their way through largely uncharted seas to a new land. And here, they founded a new society, a new republic, predicated upon – and dedicated to preserving – liberty. For over 200 years, our forebears fought numerous wars, shed blood on our soil and abroad, fought and argued and sacrificed, and many died, simply to defend and preserve our way of life and its foundation – liberty. In short, America, as folks my age knew it in our younger years, was the closest thing to an ideal society this world has ever known. And it was certainly the envy of the rest of the world. We all thought it would go on forever that way, didn't we? Who could take away our liberty? We were the strongest, richest, most powerful nation on earth. How, then, have we become the generation that has begun to see our liberties lost, our cherished freedoms slipping away, our ideal society dissolving into humanistic, contentious, secularist chaos? Is it possible – even thinkable – that after enjoying 200 years of unprecedented freedom, we, in just one or two generations, can throw away, or have wrenched from us, all our liberties? We can. And it's happening. In the last two decades, we've elected leaders who promised to "reinvent" the American form of government and to "redefine" what it means to be Americans in this century. And they've set out vigorously to do it. Our current president has said the Constitution is a "flawed document," and some leaders in Congress have pledged to rewrite passages of that document to conform to the "times" and to "more current thought." In 1975, I watched the Church Committee decimate the CIA’s human intelligence -- “humint” -- capabilities. As a result, for over 25 years the U.S. was subjected to brutal, deadly attacks by Islamic terrorists at our bases and embassies around the world and on the high seas. This did not seem to alarm anyone other than those of us with the CIA and FBI until the Islamic terrorists drove jets into the World Trade Center towers on September 11, 2001. Only then did Congress want to know why the CIA and other U.S. intelligence agencies did not or could not foresee the attack that killed almost 3,000 people. Nancy Pelosi, who I suggested was a “pathological liar” on the Fox News Channel 4 months ago, told reporters in May that she had not been informed that waterboarding was used against terrorism suspects (though she finally acknowledged she had been briefed in at least 2003). That was, of course, despite the fact that the CIA compiled, the DNI released, and HUMAN EVENTS broke the story of the memo that showed Pelosi had been briefed on September 4, 2002 which “enhanced interrogation techniques” -- which we know included waterboarding -- had been used on Abu Zubaydeh. It is exhausting just trying to keep up with Pelosi’s stories. Vice President Cheney confirmed in a speech at the American Enterprise Institute that she and other lawmakers were indeed briefed on CIA interrogation techniques on many separate occasions. Why are folks so angry that they're holding heated town hall meetings, rallies and tea parties from coast to coast? Why do we object so strongly to current policies that we're willing to travel great distances at our own expense to protest, only to be called loathsome names? Is it that the government is trying to shove health-care reform down our throats despite the fact that 83 percent of Americans are satisfied with what they have? Is it the cap-and-trade farce that will skyrocket prices on every conceivable good and service for no discernible benefit? Is it Obama's goal to spread our hard-earned wealth to those who haven't earned it? It's all of those things, of course, and more. But the objections of many Americans can be summed up in one single word: ARROGANCE. Have you noticed the arrogance of this administration and its media? If you combine a liberal president with a liberal Senate and Congress, reported by a liberal press … the result is a degree of egotism and superiority toward the citizens of this country seldom equaled in any presidential term. Consider Rep. Joe Wilson's shout of "You lie!" during Obama's address to a joint session of Congress. Putting aside the fact that the president was lying (on the issue of whether illegal immigrants would have access to government-run health care), it seems the administration is determined to make an example of Wilson by demanding multiple apologies in various locations and under assorted conditions (standing on his head, hopping on one foot, walking while chewing gum, that kind of thing). America is witnessing an awakening unlike any seen since the king tried to ram his agenda down the throat of unwilling colonials. Americans said, "No!" Then, "Hell no!" And next, the king had to go.

A modern king-in-his-own-eyes now commands an army of liberal lemmings who are trying to ram their power-grabbing agenda down the throat of unwilling Americans. On April 15, nationwide tea parties said, "No!" Then, on Sept. 12, tea parties in Washington and across the nation said, "Hell no!"

And next, the king and his liberal lemmings must go.

American colonials knew that it would take more than tea parties to rid the nation of the king and his agenda. They worked without the benefit of a bully pulpit, and organized their volunteers into troops of soldiers determined to claim the independence they declared and earn the freedom they craved.

Contemporary Americans know that it will take more than tea parties to rid Washington of the king-in-his-own-eyes and his liberal lemming army. For every American visible at a tea party there are another 50 unseen Americans organizing into troops of soldiers determined to defend the U.S. Constitution and reclaim the freedom won by the nation's founders.

The king-in-his-own-eyes and his liberal lemmings are in denial. They see the tea parties as nothing more than crude expressions from the unwashed masses, who couldn't possibly know what is best for the nation.

Friday, September 18, 2009 The Colorado man under FBI investigation into an alleged New York subway terror plot has admitted he has ties to Al Qaeda and is in negotiations to plead guilty to a terror charge, a source at the Department of Justice told FOX News. The source said 24-year-old Najibullah Zazi, who until now had protested that he had no connection to Al Qaeda, changed his story Friday. Zazi reportedly told officials that he had received explosives training and may plead guilty as part of a deal to cooperate with the government. A senior intelligence official in Washington told The Associated Press that Zazi has indicated that he is directly linked with Al Qaeda. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity in order to discuss intelligence matters, said Zazi played a crucial role in an intended terrorist attack but that it was not immediately clear what the targets were. The official went on to say that the plot was being directed from outside the United States. Zazi had submitted to two eight-hour interrogations, Wednesday and Thursday, at the FBI offices in Denver, and he was called back for further questioning Friday. [CLICK HERE TO READ MORE]
