Obama ices the cake of his new America ~ By Barbara Simpson

Obama rules. He knows what he wants, and he’ll get it, regardless. He either forces it through Congress and the courts – see Obamacare – or he’ll use his pen and make law by executive order, regardless of whether it’s legal or constitutional.

He’s putting the icing on the cake of his new America. The only problem is that he’s made the cake under the icing rotten, and it will poison all of us unless we get ourselves back on a road to freedom.

It is that critical: We either stop this destruction of our beautiful country, or all is lost.
My memory seems to be much better than Barack Obama's or Nancy Pelosi's, who couldn't remember Jonathan Gruber, let alone, working with him. Yes, I can actually remember hearing Barack Obama saying in 2008, on several occasions, that he would transform America.

Unfortunately, most people did not have a clue what "transforming America" really meant. But some of us knew. Some of us were up-to-date with the news, and heard him tell "Joe the Plumber" Wurzelbacher that he was going to "spread the wealth." But who knew that Obama's "spreading the wealth" ideology also meant spreading our wealth to third world countries? Well, some of us did. We called it what it is: Socialism, on a global level.

And worse yet, some of us were aware that transforming America would mean allowing people into the country that would not assimilate into our American culture, requiring multiculturalism that would get so far out of control. We were aware that the values that made this country great, and free, would become politically incorrect.

Now, as we find out here in Barbara's column, we learn that our concerns were well justified. Some of us will feel vindicated by what the Babe in the Bunker writes here:
I’m probably being too easy on him by calling it “progressive.” In reality, it’s more likely socialist, communist, but no matter what you call it, totally despotic.

The changes Obama has already made, and those that are imminent, are dividing this country in more ways than the average person can imagine and probably in ways that even the above-average, thinking person did not anticipate.
Looming in the near future will be an executive action that will be one more large step towards despotism, and one large step further away from our freedom when Obama goes around Congress to give amnesty to millions of immigrants that broke the law to come to America.  I do not even understand how that is even necessary, being that bringing in refugees from around the world is totally legal for our government to do, and Obama's transformation of America has already been in progress for decades.

If we are going to "reform" our immigration policies, we may want to look at who is being allowed to legally become part of America. Just sayin'...

From WND.com Commentary

When I was a kid, there was a phrase that when someone put the finishing touch on something, people would say, “Well that’s the icing on the cake!

We don’t say that much now, but it would be dead right for what Barack Obama is doing to this country.

Right now, Obama and his administration are obsessed with immigration. His goal is not to reform our laws to make them work and put logical restrictions on the number and type of immigrants we allow across our borders, either as visitors, residents or, ultimately, new citizens.

His goals are to increase the numbers of people from Third-World countries we admit, to legalize those here illegally and forgive them their crimes and to increase the number of so-called refugees from Third-World countries, most of whom have no interest in becoming Americans but who want all the goodies we provide to the less fortunate.

When Barack Obama and his political henchmen get done with his plan to transform this country, we’ll end up being a country of one state.

To save America, 1st vote the Dems out ~ By Alan Keyes

In one his best columns, Alan Keyes brings up some points that we need to be aware of and then remember this November.

First, we don't dare set ourselves up for disappointment. Regardless of how many seats the Republicans take back in the House and Senate, even if it was possible to get the majority in the Senate, it would be virtually impossible to gain enough seats to be able to override vetoes of any bills that repeal what Obama and his minions have done so far. As Alan wrote, "Even if opponents of the Obama faction's totalitarian health takeover scheme cobble together a clear congressional majority, any repeal legislation would certainly be vetoed by the present occupant of the White House."

And second, keep in mind that the lame duck Congress will do their best to ram through all the Progressive/Marxist agenda that they can before the end of the year and their terms. In other words, as Alan says, just concentrate on defeating as many of the leftist Democrats as possible this Fall. We will hopefully get many Constitutional Conservatives in, and Progressives out.

And in the meantime, while it looks good for Republicans to take back the House and close the gap considerably in the Senate this Fall, we must not let up. I'll guarantee that Obama and his minions will push back very strongly in the remaining time before the election. They will use every trick in the book, including blatant lies through their state-controlled propaganda machine (the mainstream media), and possibly do some cheating in the election as much as possible (via ACORN). Don't let up! Just sayin'...

I fully realize that some of the alternative candidates will in one way or another be Obama faction fellow travelers, Republicans or conservatives in name only, deeply sympathetic to the anti-American stands Obama cohorts take in favor of lax border security, amnesty for illegals and government-controlled access to health care. I fully realize that all too many openly or covertly accept the unprincipled abandonment of the ideas of unalienable, God-given right on which constitutional, democratic self-government is based.

But if in November voters send the Democrats packing in a big way, as a matter of fact and perception the result will seriously limit the ability of the socialist fellow travelers to advocate and pursue their agenda. For a while, at least, they will be politically fearful and constrained. The likely Republican majority that results from such an outcome will be under the gun strenuously to push back against the Obama faction's subversive agenda. If they fail to do so, the naked truth about the sham two-party system will become starkly, incontrovertibly clear...

A solid majority of Americans appear to be reaching conclusions that reject the web of lies, suppression of facts and wishful thinking that subverted the 2008 election. They are realizing that this subversion process handed power over the U.S. government to a gaggle of committed, anti-American Marxists bent on overturning government of, by and for the people, to establish a factional party dictatorship with virtually unlimited sway over all the key political, economic and social aspects of American life.

From health care to jobs, from housing to energy, Obama and his faction beguiled many Americans with promises of good things for all people. Under the enlightened hand of the Obama faction, the U.S. government would offer everyone access to a new and improved health-care system, along with the job of their dreams and the home of their dearest aspirations. Electing the first "black" president, America would forever transcend its bitter and divisive racial past. We would move beyond group divisions, beyond even the narrow vision of merely national identity.

Not as prideful Americans, but as self-esteeming human beings we would accept a new identity as citizens of the world. We would forego our false ambition of world leadership to welcome our equal place in a conclave of humanity. We would abandon the false ideas of American exceptionalism that in the past impelled us to such misguided crimes against humanity as the war in Vietnam or the overthrow of Saddam Hussein in Iraq. We would learn to look past the episodes of manmade disaster (no longer called terrorism) produced by the understandably violent reaction against our misdeeds, in order to respect and placate the otherwise historically peace-loving people of the Islamic world.

With the self-righteous arrogance almost uniformly characteristic of those who see themselves at the forefront of history, Obama and his factional cohorts continue to hawk these wares. But the looming facts of debt, decline and devolution have lifted the veil of well-intentioned wishful thinking that for a time clouded the minds of the Americans who provided the Obama faction its winning edge in 2008.

More and more people every day question the suppression of facts about Obama's background; reject the embrace of totalitarian government implied in such things as his faction's scheme to establish U.S. government control of access to health care; decry the evidence of self-serving racial preference in the Obama clique's administration of justice; and discern the agenda for unlimited power that drives every proposal, every appointment and every action it takes. More and more people have begun to consider or share in the suspicion that mishandling of the nation's finances, the costly procrastination in response to the gulf oil-spill disaster and record U.S. casualties in Afghanistan aren't the result of inexperience and incompetence. They are the natural fruit of lifelong hostility toward the ideas and moral principles that have forged the historic success whereby the very existence of the United States refutes the Marxist delusion. More and more people are looking at the Obama faction, its tools and fellow travelers and what they see is haunted by the yet unspoken thought "We have met the enemy, and it is they."

As a result, many people eagerly anticipate the opportunity offered by the periodic elections that are a key feature of the Constitution the Obama people love to hate. They greet with satisfaction reports that so-called Obamacare might be challenged and even repealed before next November. I understand how they feel. But the reality implied by the provisions of the Constitution militates against such a possibility. Even if opponents of the Obama faction's totalitarian health takeover scheme cobble together a clear congressional majority, any repeal legislation would certainly be vetoed by the present occupant of the White House.

That situation will be true with respect to every piece of legislation the Obama faction manages to pass (or deems to have passed), even in the lame duck session of Congress that follows the November election. Americans convinced that the Obama faction's Marxist juggernaut must be stopped need to consider this fact very carefully. I believe it has an inescapable political implication for anyone sincerely committed to that objective. There is only one outcome in November that can stay the hands now at work to destroy the American way of life. It will not be enough to cut back the Democratic Party's congressional delegation. The Democrats have proven to be the eager tools of the Obama faction's Marxist takeover. To save the American way of life, the Democrats must cease to be a significant presence in the Senate and the House. The forces that oppose the totalitarian socialist subversion of the republic need a veto-proof majority in both Houses of Congress.

Obama's growing racist government ~ By Barbara Simpson

Barbara explains why it is Obama and the Federal government that are displaying the real racism, and not Arizona. When it comes right down to it, the government loves to use race in order to buy votes now, and especially in the future, if they are ever able to legalize all of the illegal immigrants. Just sayin'...
Yet, despite widespread calls to boycott Arizona, the AP reports at least 20 other states plan similar legislation.

If Obama tries to shove amnesty through despite public opinion, his head will spin at the reaction he'll get. It won't be pretty.

Arizonans wanted protection. Who knew it would provide the flashpoint to protect the country? Good for them!

For a president and an administration with the media in its pocket, it's amazing they haven't convinced the American public that it's OK to protect lawbreakers by racial profiling.

I know, I know – if you believe the left's rant, only conservatives are racist bigots. But the truth is, the liberals lead on that one, and they're proud of it.

When they demand special rights for a certain class of "brown" people, they're racially profiling and are bigots.

They should be ashamed. Not only have they opened racial divisions in this country that were virtually closed decades ago, but they cater to it and are moving this country to the breaking point.

The issue is illegal aliens: foreigners who cross our borders illegally, stay in this country illegally, take jobs using fake identification – both of which are illegal – and feed at the trough of American generosity for food, housing, medical care, education and whatever else they can get.

On top of that, too many get involved in criminal activities from petty crimes to felonies. The costs to the criminal justice system and the numbers of incarcerated illegals prove the point.

Arizona hit the breaking point: bankrupt hospital emergency rooms, overcrowded schools, enormous social costs on every level, escalating crimes, record-setting kidnapping rates and violence against private citizens as well as police officers and Border Patrol, including murder.

It's a basic responsibility of the federal government to protect the borders and the citizens living within them. There are laws on the books to accomplish that.

But for political and philosophical reasons, politicians for decades have chosen not to enforce the law. They've chosen not to think first of the welfare and safety of the country and all Americans. They do what they please, hoping it will buy them votes and change the face and culture of this country permanently to their advantage. Their attitude is: The country be damned.

Their hubris is astonishing, and it's getting worse. The federal government, from the president on down, is doing as little as possible to strengthen the border, has encouraged the demonization of any entity – read that Arizona – and anyone who disagree.

To liberals, Arizona is the ultimate "racist" – all because Arizonans have had enough of what illegals are doing to them because the feds virtually ignore the problem.

The legislature passed S.B.1070, which allows law enforcement to question a suspect's immigration status, if, during a stop for another criminal issue, the officer has reason to suspect an immigration violation.

Gov. Jan Brewer signed the bill. She's clearly one of the most politically courageous politicians in decades.

Barely had the ink dried, then the long swords were drawn with everyone from politicians, immigration activists, education hacks, the media, ignorant citizens and religious hierarchy, most especially clerics of the Roman Catholic Church, piling on.

Liberals say 1070 mandates racial profiling and is racist – but in truth, liberals are the racists since they seem to think only "brown" people are illegals. Facts prove otherwise, but facts confuse them.

Under the guise of "human rights" and a "religious halo," they advocate criminal lawbreaking, and the government isn't letting up. In addition to demonizing the state and its residents, the feds plan to sue and had Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announce it during a press conference in Ecuador.

Gov. Brewer was furious at the insult of the foreign announcement, but is hanging tough and touts her record of winning such court cases.

Our founders' solutions for illegal immigration ~ By Chuck Norris

In this column, Chuck expounds on what the Founding Fathers had in mind when it came to deciding on how to treat the naturalization of new immigrants. He also states what the dangers are if nothing is done about immigration reform soon, which should definitely include the enforcement of the immigration laws that we have now or after reform. Arizona definitely has the right idea: Enforce the laws as they are now.
Musician Charlie Daniels put it well, when he wrote, "I don't blame anybody in the world for wanting to come to the United States of America, as it is a truly wonderful place. But when the first thing you do when you set foot on American soil is illegal, it is flat-out wrong, and I don't care how many lala-land left heads come out of the woodwork and start trying to give me sensitivity lessons. I don't need sensitivity lessons. In fact, I don't have anything against Mexicans. I just have something against criminals, and anybody who comes into this country illegally is a criminal. If you don't believe it, try coming into America from a foreign country without a passport and see how far you get."
By Chuck Norris

(Editor's note: This is Part One of a two-part series on solutions to America's illegal immigration problem. Next week in Part Two, Chuck will lay out our founders' and his plan for dealing with the 12 million-plus illegal immigrants in our country today.)

With his thick Austrian accent, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger quipped in his commencement address at Emory University last week, "I was also going to give a graduation speech in Arizona this weekend. But with my accent, I was afraid they would try to deport me."

It seems that the whole country is taking sides in the battle over the border in Arizona. Yet it truly remains the tip of the iceberg of our immigration troubles. Spurred on by the national debate, at least 10 other states are now seeking to enact tougher illegal immigration laws.

Now, more than ever, we must protect our borders and sovereignty by providing genuine solutions to the dangers of American boundary fluidity. With estimates showing that by 2060 America will add 167 million people (37 million immigrants today will multiply into 105 million then), it is imperative for us to do more to solve this crisis. Now is the time to beat the doors of change and save the boundaries and future of America.

The federal government has miserably failed to produce a viable solution to the illegal immigrant crisis. Amnesty is not the answer. And immigration laws aren't effective if we continue to dodge or ignore them. Furthermore, globalization efforts have only confused security matters, further endangering our borders as well as our national identity – our sovereignty. And the question that keeps coming to my mind is: How is it that we can secure borders in the Middle East, but we can't secure our own?

From America's birth, our founders struggled, too, with international enemies and border troubles, from the sea of Tripoli to the Western frontier. While welcoming the poor, downtrodden and persecuted from every country, they also had to protect the sacred soil they called home from unwanted intruders.

According to the Declaration of Independence, "obstructing the Laws for the Naturalization of Foreigners" was one of the objections leveled against Britain that warranted the American colonists' secession. Yet even the founders themselves believed that a total open-door policy for immigrants would only lead to complete community and cultural chaos.

Under the Articles of Confederation (our "first constitution"), each state possessed the authority over naturalization. Such diversity, however, led the founders at the Constitutional Convention to shift the power of naturalization to the federal government. The Constitution therefore reads in Article I, Section 8, that Congress shall have the authority to "establish a uniform rule of naturalization."

We discuss and debate new ways to resolve the social crisis we call illegal immigration, but our founders again pointed the way more than 200 years ago. Like enrolling in an Ivy League school, they considered and promoted American citizenship as a high honor. James Madison shared the collective sentiment back then when he stated, "I do not wish that any man should acquire the privilege, but such as would be a real addition to the wealth or strength of the United States." Hence, they processed applicants and selected only the ones that contributed to the building up and advancement of their grand experiment called America.

Media ignore violence from the left ~ By Tom Tancredo

Tom wrote about the media's unbalanced reporting of both the violent rioting in regard to the May Day demonstrations and the attempted car bombing in Times Square. However, it isn't just the media that is unbalanced that is distressing. It is also the way people like Michael Bloomberg describe the possible perpetrators even before the investigation takes place, and put the blame on "right-wing extremists." And as we saw the other day, Eric Holder refused to call the terrorist attackers as "Islamic jihadists." It is an attitude that is pervasive with both the establishment press and left-wing politicians.
Examples abound of how the mainstream media intentionally ignore and downplay the dangers from America's real enemies, the Islamic jihadists and Reconquista radicals, while painting conservatives as extremists. Fortunately, most Americans are not duped by this biased news coverage and continue to demand secure borders and strong measures against Islamic terrorists.

Judging by the reports on MSNBC and in the New York Times, the May Day rallies for amnesty looked like Fourth of July picnics. The anti-American and anti-law enforcement violence common in those protests was ignored.

Since 2006, when the pro-amnesty demonstrations were filled with Mexican flags and signs advocating "Reconquista," organizers of these "immigrant rights" protests began to hand out American flags for the cameras. But there were plenty of Mexican flags this time around.

In addition to ignoring the Mexican flags and anti-American placards this May Day, the national media also ignored multiple instances of violence by open-borders advocates.

In San Francisco, three anti-amnesty counter-protesters were sent to the hospital by violent left-wing extremists. The San Francisco ABC affiliate reported:
Three people were attacked and at least two others were arrested. The people assaulted were part of the Minutemen demonstration, a group in favor of Arizona's new immigration law. … "They said we were racists, and we were against them, and against their town, and against San Francisco," said Parker Wilson with the Bay Area National Anarchists.
The attackers used brass knuckles and mace, giving one of the anti-amnesty protesters a concussion. A police officer witnessed the entire incident, and the leftists were charged with felonious assault.

Outside of the local ABC report and a few stories in a minor San Francisco weekly, no national news outlet or even the major local newspapers bothered to report on this violent politically based hate crime.

In another May Day incident, 250 unruly leftists in Santa Cruz started an all-out riot. Writes the Silicon Valley Mercury News:
Downtown business owners spent Sunday repairing shattered windows and doors after a May Day rally Saturday night turned into a riot with approximately 250 people marching along Pacific Avenue, some carrying makeshift torches, throwing large rocks and paint bombs, and spray-painting walls with graffiti.
Investigators believe it caused $100,000 worth of damage. This story got a bit more attention, with the Associated Press writing a small story that a number of newspapers tucked away in their back pages. No national press has followed up, even as Santa Cruz launches a probe into the riots and has asked the FBI for assistance.

In contrast to these violent left-wing mobs, not one tea-party demonstration has resulted in violence. You can be sure that if they did, left-wing politicians and the national news would be denouncing it for weeks on end.

Absent any real violence, the media simply try to make up accounts of right-wing misbehavior.

When Rep. Jim Clyburn and John Lewis claimed that they had been spit on and called racial slurs, literally thousands of stories about the supposed incident dominated the headlines and cable news for over a week. This alleged incident occurred as Clyburn and Lewis were walking in to vote on the health-care bill, with dozens of videotapes and policemen tracking their every step. Not one video captured any spitting or slurs, nor did any police officer observe them.

Media bias was also clear when a terrorist failed to detonate a car bomb in Times Square. In the first hours of the event, the media and left-wing commentators set their sites on conservatives.

On MSNBC, Chris Matthews said that the suspects likely harbored a "right-wing agenda."

Balancing justice and compassion ~ By Dave Welch

Dave Welch brings up some excellent points. This column reminded me of what I wrote just yesterday, "Safety Net: Personal responsibility and charity should matter," where I was talking about charity (compassion) and personal responsibility (living by the rule of law). Dave is well aware that the biggest lack of compassion, by our own government, is by allowing the illegal immigration to take place for decades. And now that the system is broken, because of not abiding by our own laws (both government and businesses), we have a real problem of being able to be compassionate in how we deal with the situation. Great column, Dave!
What I do believe is that immigration reform should be off the table until those clamoring for it the loudest first commit to closing and securing our borders to the fullest extent of our ability. Build fences and/or walls, tear down walk bridges, take down steps, place National Guard – or even better, U.S. Marines – on the border; whatever it takes.

Once that is accomplished, we must deal with the terribly dysfunctional immigration and guest-worker process that once worked but now allows terrorists in and keeps out solid, educated and professional would-be citizens who would be an asset to this nation.
If you have broken the law, it must be made right. If you are working to change or enforce the law, keep mindful of your mind and motives so we can balance justice and compassion.

By Dave Welch

© 2010

The rising tensions surrounding the immigration crisis are once again placing front and center the issue of just how tenuous is the balance between the principles of justice and compassion. The reality is that one is impossible without the other, yet we constantly try to separate them.

For example, the "law and order" mindset says that if you broke the law to get here and have likely broken numerous laws while here, you have no right to stay, nor any children you brought or bore here.

Contrarily, the "compassionate" mindset says that these are all real humans who deserve to be treated with dignity and that we cannot just lock up or ship out those here illegally.

Some on both sides are right; some on both sides are wrong.

First, it is self-evident that no home, neighborhood, city, society or nation can long survive without operating under the respect for the rule of law that protects the life, liberty and property of every innocent citizen under its jurisdiction. The primary restraint that preserves the greatest freedom for the most people exists in the heart of the individual that is grounded in the acknowledgment of a personal, caring and just God.

If I assume that my every thought, every action and every word are going to be one day replayed before a righteous and holy God to weigh on His scales for my "reward," you can guarantee it will give me pause on all three fronts.

As I explained to my son, who like thousands of others returning from Iraq and Afghanistan is wrestling with the demons of combat trauma and guilt of having had to kill, they have not committed murder. If he took a life in the performance of his duties under legitimate authority in a justified context of war, that is clearly not in violation of either God's or man's laws.

However, the rage and hatred that develops for "the enemy" because of the unthinkable acts and atrocities they witnessed lead them to a condition of murder even without taking life. Are you confused? Listen to the words of Jesus Christ:
You have heard that the ancients were told, ''YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT MURDER" and "whoever commits murder shall be liable to the court." But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever says to his brother, "You good-for-nothing," shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever says, "You fool," shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell.

– Matthew 5:21, 22 NASB
Similarly, if our frustration with the inaction of our government on immigration turns to anger and even hatred of any who have come here illegally, we are now in danger ourselves.

Our Lord raised the bar beyond our actions to even hold us accountable for the condition of our soul, which, as we are reminded, is the spring out of which our thoughts and actions flow. If our mind, will and emotions are driven by something other than love of and loyalty to God and His commandments, we will ultimately be driven by self-interest.

Both sides of the immigration debate have significant elements of self-interest involved, not all of which is wrong or even unlawful. It is not wrong to desire what is best for my family's care and even survival; it is almost always wrong to break laws to achieve it.

It is also not wrong to want safety, security and blessings for my family that cause me to insist that people be kept out of this country who live outside the laws I must obey and who demand that I surrender property, income and freedom to accommodate them. It is wrong, however to avoid taking responsibility for being apathetic toward the inhumanity of a broken immigration system, unjust and corrupt policies of our government that harm many people, and even for our own love of cheap goods and labor.

Hold 2012 Republican Convention in Phoenix ~ By Roger Hedgecock

Roger discusses why Arizona passed the immigration law and how those on the left reacted to it, and what the Republicans should do to counter the boycott and show some solid leadership. I love the idea of the "buycott" to counter the boycott. I just heard about the "buycott" a couple days ago.

You can call me an Arizona supporter!

Obama's cynical political game playing while ignoring the real threat to the people of Arizona was not lost on legal immigrants in Arizona. CNN ran a story Friday quoting (with evident surprise) Hispanic Arizonans who supported the state's crackdown on illegals. What the elites miss here is that "Hispanics" are not a monolithic bloc. Legal immigrants from Mexico and their descendants are as concerned about the increasing violence and as supportive of Arizona's actions as any other citizen of that state.

Once again – this brave action by the state of Arizona is an opportunity for the Republican Party to show it is worthy to lead the country in a revival of America as a land of opportunity for every citizen and for every legal immigrant.
By Roger Hedgecock

If the Republican Party really wants to win the election this year, it must take a stand to rally the majority of Americans who increasingly oppose Obamanism and want the Constitution, an opportunity society and a free-market economy restored in America. In the face of calls for the boycott of all things Arizonan, the RNC should immediately award the 2012 Republican National Convention to Phoenix, Ariz.

In the absence of federal government willingness to enforce the law at the border, the Arizona Legislature and Gov. Jan Brewer have acted bravely to defend Arizonans against an increasingly bold, violent invasion of Arizona by illegal aliens by enacting a law which requires local law enforcement officers during the course of a "lawful stop, detention or arrest" to ask for proof of citizenship or legal immigration status. Those without documentation are then turned over to federal authorities for deportation.

Federal law has required legal immigrants to carry documentary proof of their status since 1940. No recent federal administration has enforced this law.

The need for this law was dramatically underscored when a Pinal County sheriff deputy was gunned down by an AK-47 armed illegal-alien drug smuggler during a routine traffic stop Friday.

Thanks to the constant violence between rival Mexican-based drug cartels operating in Arizona, Phoenix has become the kidnapping capital of the U.S.  Home invasions, armed robbery and drug trafficking reach into every community in the state. Arizonans have had enough. In a state where "open carry" of guns is legal and increasingly seen, the legislature recently passed a bill to allow "concealed carry" as a matter of right as well.

Gov. Brewer has appealed to the Obama regime no less than six times for federal government help with no reply. Sheriff Joe Arpaio's efforts to apprehend illegals did get a response from Obama – a Justice Department investigation into whether the sheriff had violated the rights of the illegals!

Every poll shows widespread American support for the principled stand taken by the state of Arizona. But, in another example of the gap between the "two Americas," American media and academic and political elites have denounced Arizona, with former State Sen. Alfredo Gutierrez speaking for many leftists, calling for a boycott to put a "shocking stop to the economy of Arizona."

Ignoring the fact that any such boycott would harm the jobs of all Arizona workers, the Boycott Arizona movement has targeted Major League Baseball with calls to cancel the Cactus League and the All Star Game set this year in Arizona. Conventions scheduled for Arizona are under pressure from the left to cancel. The cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco have joined the boycott, calling on California to cancel all state contracts with any firm from Arizona.

Radical open-border activists even targeted Arizona Iced Tea, which is actually made in New York.

Law-and-order Americans have struck back with a national "buycott" of Arizona. A sampling of tea-party activists across the country last week, for example, revealed an avalanche of messages from families redirecting their vacation planning to include "the Grand Canyon this year." Chambers of commerce in Arizona report a surge of inquiries from out-of-state companies seeking to do business with Arizona companies. A caller to my radio show Friday reported he had bought a home in Phoenix that week in response to the calls for a buycott.

Amnesty agenda exposed ~ By Tom Tancredo

Tom Tancredo makes the point that the open borders crowd are lying, and using racism to inflame the passion of the left. To support his point, be sure to see the related video at the bottom of this page.
Why the hysterical reaction from the left? The reasons are as simple as they are transparent. This act by Arizona lawmakers has exposed two lies the amnesty lobby has been promoting since Obama's election – one small lie and one whopper.

The small lie is that amnesty is now inevitable, so politicians had better "get on board." The success of that lie depends entirely on a lack of new controversy and public complacency.

The second lie is the whopper – that amnesty is now viable politically because, unlike the situation in 2006 and 2007 when amnesty bills failed in Congress, the borders are now secure enough to move forward with "comprehensive immigration reform."

Today is May Day, a traditional day of celebration for Marxists and leftists around the world. The Soviet Union used to have a big parade of military might on May Day. The American left is holding rallies across the country to denounce the racism and bigotry of an entire state, Arizona.

Arizona is again leading the way in efforts to control illegal immigration, and once again, the amnesty lobby is having a nervous breakdown.

This isn't the first time we have witnessed such obnoxious and arrogant behavior by the amnesty lobby. In 2004, Arizona passed a law by a referendum ballot to deny welfare benefits to illegal aliens. We saw the same slanders and name-calling directed against it. But the clamor slowly evaporated as the new law was upheld in state and federal courts. In that 2004 ballot election, neither the critics nor the media bothered to mention that 56 percent of Hispanic voters in Arizona supported the measure.

So, here we go again. While the protest scenario is familiar, this time the protests are even more hysterical because this time the stakes are higher. The Arizona law has been adopted at the same time the Obama administration is backpedaling on its promise of amnesty legislation in this session of Congress. The amnesty lobby sees its opportunity slipping away, and they are throwing a hissy fit.

The critics of the Arizona law have had fun misquoting me and spreading a false report that "Tom Tancredo says Arizona law goes too far." I never said anything like that and in fact have supported the Arizona law from day one. But once a sensational story like that is out there, it is picked up and repeated, and then is impossible to chase down and correct every permutation in the blogosphere.

Typical of the outrageous slanders against it was Juan Williams of "Fox News Sunday," who made the wild claim that the law will lead to "harassment of brown people." I guess the good news for Juan Williams is that illegal Russian and Jordanian immigrants have nothing to worry about.

Now, to the facts. The Arizona law, SB 1070, merely makes a state crime what is already a federal crime. For example, the requirement that legal aliens carry their documentation on their person is already in federal law. All of the provisions of the law were crafted carefully to avoid any conflict with federal law. It specifically prohibits stopping anyone based solely on race or ethnicity. The Arizona law does not attempt to create any new immigration law; it simply gives state law enforcement agencies the power to enforce existing laws and arrest persons who are in the country unlawfully.

Adios, Baby! ~ By Barbara Simpson

The news this week will be continuing on the Arizona bill signed last week by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, as the the debate. Barbara Simpson discusses just some of the debate that you will hear about. I also included a related video that I uploaded to youtube yesterday, which supports the fact that this is not a issue that is going to fade away anytime soon.  In fact, it will be heating up even more because of the talk of trying to get an amnesty - er, I mean, immigration reform - bill through Congress at their earliest convenience.
Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., calls Republicans 'mean spirited and anti-immigrant." He says immigrants shouldn't vote and people should boycott Arizona.

A Phoenix protest almost turned violent with accusations of racial profiling and goals to "get rid of us." Other claims: "This is not a Latino fight. This is a fight against hate."

A 13-year-old American citizen, Emilio Almodovar, told the Associated Press, "We can't walk to school anymore. We can't be in the streets anymore without the pigs thinking we're illegal immigrants."

Oh, yeah, that's the kind of American citizen we want.

There'll be quite a scene in Washington May 19 if Mexican President Felipe Calderon keeps his date to address a joint session of Congress. He'll also be honored at a White House state dinner.

The cool, calculating and composed U.S. president is going to have his hands full that day trying to navigate diplomacy and the almost guaranteed uproar about immigration that will test decorum on every level.

When Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the official visit last week, she called Calderon "our neighbor and friend" and said we'd be looking forward to hearing his "message to the American people and his views on ways to strengthen our border communities, fight organized crime and reinforce the essential partnership between our two nations."

From the sound of that, Calderon will have his hands full, too, since he and his government are mightily upset that last Friday, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed the toughest law in the country dealing with illegal aliens.

Brewer was under huge pressure to veto the bill, by everyone from Mexican officials to immigrant rights groups, clergy and, of course U.S. politicians

The bill requires police, when there's probable cause, to ask people about their immigration status and ask for identification to back it up, and it allows arrest. Police would still work with ICE and the Border Patrol in dealing with illegals.

Brewer said, "We in Arizona have been more than patient waiting for Washington to act. But decades of inaction and misguided policy have created a dangerous and unacceptable situation."

On Wednesday, Brewer called on Washington to deploy National Guard to the border. The AP quoted her: The responsibility to ensure that we have an orderly, secure border – not just some imaginary line or a rickety fence – belongs to the federal government, and it has failed.

Brewer said she asked President Obama five times for troops to be deployed; nothing was done.

Persistent federal inaction has resulted in Arizona being the most heavily trafficked state for illegals (most from Mexico, but in fact, people from across the world) in addition to organized and violent cartels smuggling drugs, guns and humans.

The value of that illegal "cargo" is in the multi-millions annually. With so much at stake, it's no wonder that violence and danger to innocent civilians veers out of control.

Illegals fan out to every state. Some work but others are part of criminal gangs, which have staked out turfs and have no compunction about using extreme violence to protect them.

The flood of illegals inundates Arizona, but every border state has the same problem and drug-cartel violence crosses the border with greater and greater regularity.

A month ago, Arizona rancher Rob Krentz was shot and killed on his ranch near the border. His last phone message was that he was going to investigate illegals on his property. Krentz was known for helping illegals with food and water and medical help.

The suspect is an illegal, likely involved with drug running. He was tracked back to the border. The investigation is ongoing and Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever told me it looks promising.

Listen up, Republicans! ~ By Burt Prelutsky

Burt reads the riot act to the Republicans, especially John McCain, for their coziness with the Democrats, and for not doing anything about health care when they controlled the Senate, the House, and the Oval Office between 2001 and 2007. Had they done things like tort reform or allowing health insurance to be purchased across state lines, the Democrats would have had no reason to take over another 1/6th of the economy.
If you're going to run in 2010, I, for one, want you to sign a written pledge regarding where you stand and how you'll vote on everything from Iran to the Second Amendment, and I'd like it notarized.

Frankly, if I had to choose between, say, an Arizona Democrat or a fellow like John McCain, who's in favor of shutting down Gitmo, opposes waterboarding Islamic terrorists, opposes drilling for oil in ANWR and, until he fell back in the polls, pushed amnesty for illegal aliens, I'd have to say, "I'm sorry, Mrs. Palin, but I'd rather stay home and alphabetize my canned goods."

I am as irate as anyone at the way Obama and Pelosi, like a pair of old-time bootleggers, strong-armed members of Congress into voting for Obamacare. But just because the Republicans fought back, I'm not as prepared as some to give them a pass.

Several years ago, when a current left-wing congressman was still serving in the California assembly, we were discussing the recently enacted Proposition 13, the so-called Jarvis amendment, which put a cap on property taxes. He was bemoaning the fact that it would permanently cut state revenues, while I argued that of all the taxes on the books, property taxes were the worst.

I pointed out that a lot of homes were bought by returning GIs and other newly married couples shortly after the end of World War II. They were bought for seven or eight thousand dollars. But, 30 years later, when the mortgages were finally paid off, these same people were being charged more in annual property taxes than the house had cost in the first place. Except for maybe a paint job, a renovated kitchen and some aluminum siding, these were the same modest 1,300 square-foot homes they had moved into, but now they could no longer afford to live in them.

I argued that if at some point during those three decades, the politicians had done the right thing, something as draconian as Prop. 13 wouldn't have been necessary.

In much the same way, I would say to GOP politicians, you had control of the House, the Senate and the Oval Office from 2001-2007, but you didn't do a darn thing about health insurance. It's only now that the liberals are gobbling up one-sixth of the economy that you're suddenly all for tort reform and allowing insurance companies to compete across state borders. When you had the power, all that people like John McCain and the rest of you punks did was cozy up to people like Feingold and Kennedy, like a bunch of school girls hoping the liberals would ask you to the prom.

Death and dishonor in Cochise County ~ By Tom Tancredo

After you read Tom's column, I hope you will feel the same way as I do. I'm disgusted. The lack of security on our border is extremely dangerous to this country. Not because illegal aliens are coming in to "do the jobs that Americans won't do," though that is bad enough. No, it is because of the threat to our national security; the fact that terrorists, drug dealers, and other criminals can so easily cross into this country. And here is the maddening fact: This is being allowed because certain politicians think that once they can get an amnesty bill passed, they will instantly have millions of new voters to keep them in office. Is that not treason?
It's not one death on the border that is the outrage. Our outrage comes from Obama's and Napolitano's contempt for the truth about border security, which is a contempt for the safety of our communities and our nation. Three border state governors have now called for Obama to send the National Guard to the border. The response from the Obama White House? They will "continue to monitor" the situation.

Napolitano has lost any credibility as the guardian of homeland security. She must go.

A week ago today, third-generation Arizona rancher Rob Krentz was murdered on his ranch 15 miles from the Mexican border. Border Patrol and sheriff's deputies followed the assailant's tracks back to the border. It may be too much to hope that our national self-delusion about border security on the cheap also died that day.

The myth of border security is the grand self-delusion of our governing class, but Obama's secretary of homeland security has fortified this delusion with persistent lies about the border fence. It's time to stop the lies and face the truth: We have no border security.

The belief that our border security is "imperfect but adequate" is a gold-plated bipartisan charade, the kind of charade that never goes out of season in Washington, D.C. There are Republicans as well as Democrats who perpetuate the lie of border security. Why? It allows the amnesty parade to move forward while denying there is any price to be paid. Dick Armey, Grover Norquist and Lindsey Graham are prominent Republican cheerleaders in this farce.

Rob Krentz was not a crusader; he was not a Minuteman or a political activist of any kind. He was a rancher whose family roots in Cochise County go back to 1907. Over the past 15 years, like many Cochise County residents, he and his brother had spoken publicly about the financial and human costs of the rising tide of intruders crossing their land – the vandalized water lines, dead cattle, robberies, car-jackings, assaults and home break-ins.

The Krentz ranch is less than 15 miles from the Arizona-Mexico border, and on most of the border east of Douglas there is no real fence to halt intruders. For 15 years, like their neighbors, the Krentz family asked again and again for increased Border Patrol protection, and again and again their pleas were ignored. In February of 2003, I visited that region and met the Krentz family, and on March 25 of that year I spoke about him on the floor of Congress. I called him one of the "homeland heroes" in Cochise County who struggle to live out the American dream on the front lines of the border invasion. But despite the warnings, the invasion continued, and the lies about border security continued.

Open-borders enthusiasts in Congress and the media cannot allow the murder of Rob Krentz to be seen and acknowledged for what it is: an indictment of open-borders policies. Thus, the guardians of open-borders orthodoxy have kept Rob Krentz's murder off the front page and invisible to most Americans. The last thing our Washington overseers want is an open and honest debate about the true state of border security.

The indisputable fact is that contrary to the official DHS border fence map, there is no border fence to interrupt the work of drug smugglers or thousands of illegal-alien trespassers on a 25-mile stretch of border directly south of the Krentz ranch. What Janet Napolitano and her few Republican allies insist on calling a fence is only a vehicle barrier, and it stops not one single intruder. I have seen the video from a hidden camera on one of the trails in that Cochise County corridor in early March. It shows a steady stream of intruders. That daily stream produces on average 500 to 1,000 border invaders each day. And that is but one trail of many. Do the math.
