Why do Democrats oppose ballot integrity? ~ By Tom Tancredo

That there is a serious debate over this proposal may be another indicator of cultural balkanization. Maybe we as a society are losing sight of the special quality and unique privileges of citizenship. It is possible that what is under attack in this instance is not the burden of producing birth certificates or naturalization papers – which we must do on numerous other occasions in our lives – but an attack on the concept of citizenship itself.
Tom Tancredo asks several great questions in light of a decision by a legislative committee in Colorado not to put forth a proposal to require the proof of citizenship in order to register to vote. The obvious goal of the legislation was to keep ballot integrity, and an attempt to keep voting limited to natural born or naturalized citizens. The Democrats on the committee out-voted their Republican counterparts, and Tom explains why their excuse is invalid.
If the Democratic Party wishes to grant illegal aliens the right to vote, it should be honest and propose a law to that effect instead of insulting our intelligence with talk of "lifestyle issues." That proposal might win support in some quarters, and might even be enacted into law some day if a majority of Americans come to think in terms now popular in the Colorado Democrat Caucus.

Why do Democrats oppose ballot integrity?

Last Wednesday in Colorado, a committee of the State Senate voted to kill a bill to require proof of citizenship to register to vote. The vote was along party lines: All three Democrat legislators voted against the bill, and the committee's two Republicans voted for it.

Why has the integrity of our voter rolls become a partisan issue?

The main argument heard against the proposal was that it would impose significant burdens on some individuals with unconventional "lifestyles." A utility bill ought to be enough, apparently.

Another bogus argument is that somehow the requirement to show a birth certificate or naturalization papers violates a person's civil rights. But federal courts have ruled many times that the requirement for basic documentary evidence of citizenship is not an onerous burden intended to obstruct voting by any minority of citizens. This argument, in fact, turns logic on its head, but that does not deter the opponents of ballot integrity.

We are not talking here about producing birth certificates to vote on Election Day, only for registering to vote, which people do only when they register the first time or move across state lines. Very little identification is required to vote on Election Day, but that is a different topic.

Shouldn't there be some reasonable safeguards to guarantee that the votes of qualified electors are not canceled out by the votes of persons who are not citizens? Evidently, that idea is now controversial among Colorado Democrat leaders.

Admittedly, given the current technology available for counterfeit documents, the requirement of a birth certificate is not a foolproof method of establishing citizenship. But it should be an acceptable minimum standard.

The concept of ballot integrity is so fundamental that it is hard for ordinary citizens to comprehend opposition to such basic safeguards as proof of citizenship. Does the Democratic Party have a vested interest in lax standards for voter registration?

Is this our America anymore? ~ By Patrick J. Buchanan

The border will disappear, and America will be a geographical expression, not a country anymore.
Pat Buchanan discusses the disturbing consequences of the present immigration policies of this country in this powerful, if not stunning, report on what should be considered a major crisis. If the Dream Act is enacted, it will amplify the problem for this country. So, is our national immigration policy being implemented by the global socialists? It would sure seem like it!

Is this our America anymore?
PATRICK BUCHANAN

Buried in the Oct. 30 Washington Post was a bland headline: "Report Points to Faster Recovery in Jobs for Immigrants."

The story, however, contained social dynamite that explains the rage of Americans who are smeared as nativists and xenophobes for demanding a timeout on immigration.

In the April-May-June quarter, foreign-born workers in the U.S. gained 656,000 jobs. And native-born Americans lost 1.2 million.

From July 1, 2009, to June 30, 2010, foreign-born Hispanics gained 98,000 construction jobs. Native-born Hispanics lost 133,000. Black and white U.S. construction workers lost 511,000 jobs.

According to the Center for Immigration Studies, from Jan. 1, 2000, to Jan. 1, 2010, 13.1 million immigrants, legal and illegal, entered the United States, a decade in which America lost 1 million jobs.

From 2008 and 2009, the figures are startling. In 24 months, 2.4 million immigrants, legal and illegal, arrived, as U.S. citizens were losing 8.6 million jobs.

Query: Why are we importing a million-plus workers a year when 17 million Americans can't find work? Whose country is this?

Why do we not declare a moratorium on all immigration, until our unemployment rate falls to 6 or 5 percent? Charity begins at home. Ought we not take care of our own jobless first before we invite in strangers to take their jobs?

Arizona in the crosshairs ~ By Tom Tancredo

Tom Tancredo writes about Obama's war on Arizona. It's all about Obama wanting open borders. With a substantial majority of Americans siding with Arizona on their immigration law (S.B. 1070), why would Obama and Eric Holder be trying to stop the Arizona law from going into affect on July 29? As Tom opines, "It is quite conceivable that President Obama has already decided to not seek a second term in 2012 and therefore can afford to ignore public opinion...

Of course, there is another possibility that I've been wondering about. Maybe Obama isn't planning on running in 2012 for the reason that there won't be an election, or that by the time 2012 comes along, the U.S. will already part of a "New World Order." Oh, of course, I know many of you will think that could never happen here! But then, just a few years ago, who would have ever thought a Marxist would ever become President? Just sayin'...
If the Arizona law is struck down in federal court, and if similar efforts by Arizona lawmakers aimed at protection against foreign invasion are blocked, there will be consequences that are very unpleasant. When lawful authority cannot or will not protect citizens against violence and invasion, at some point "vigilante justice" will fill the gap, and it likely will not be limited to the "observe and report" rules of engagement followed by the original Minutemen patriots of 2005.

It is quite conceivable that President Obama has already decided to not seek a second term in 2012 and therefore can afford to ignore public opinion and "do the right thing" by his own compass – not only on border security and amnesty but all across the board. The problem for the nation is that his compass is set on the goal of a socialist America within a new international socialist order where borders – and the Constitution's limits on his power – are of little consequence.

In Phoenix this past week, U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton heard opening arguments in a motion to grant a preliminary injunction to block the implementation of Arizona's new law aimed at illegal immigration. The new law will take effect on July 29.

Next week the same judge will hear arguments in two other lawsuits against the Arizona law, one brought by Obama's Justice Department and the other by the ACLU and two open-borders groups.

The argument of the Obama lawsuit is that Arizona has invaded legal territory reserved exclusively for the federal government – enforcement of federal immigration law. But, oddly, the shallowness and hypocrisy of this claim was laid bare by none other than Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano in a statement in Laredo, Texas, on the same day as the court hearing in Phoenix.

Napolitano announced that the Department of Homeland Security is releasing $51 million in grants to Arizona and several other states as part of Operation Stonegarden, a program began in 2006 to help local law enforcement deal with crime in border regions. Arizona will get $13.8 million, Texas $17.5 million and California $12.2 million.

Consider the significance of the fact that these federal funds are administered by Homeland Security, not the Department of Justice. The federal government – authorized by an act of Congress – is admitting local law enforcement is dramatically impacted by open borders and needs help. So, DHS now offers financial assistance to enable local law enforcement to pay overtime and purchase needed equipment such as night-vision goggles, so local police can better cope with the byproducts of federal open-borders policies.

Lost in this scramble for federal dollars is the lesson about the relationship between local crime rates and border security. When the Border Patrol in Del Rio, Texas, and Yuma, Arizona, implemented Operation Zero Tolerance and started prosecuting and putting in jail all the people apprehended crossing the border illegally – instead of the traditional practice of merely pushing them back into Mexico without any jail time – not only did border crossings drop by 70 percent, local crime in those border towns dropped dramatically.

Evidently, it is all right to spend federal dollars to help local law enforcement cope with crime created by federal open-borders policies, but it is not all right for a state to protect itself against those same criminals by enforcing federal immigration law and asking the federal government to deport persons arrested for local crime – which is what the Arizona law tries to do.

It is now clear that the Obama administration and Attorney General Holder have declared war on Arizona's attempts to protect itself from the border invasion. Obama will not protect Arizona's borders, and Holder wants to prevent Arizona from protecting itself.

Barack Obama: A black Svengali ~ By Erik Rush

Right off the bat, I had to refer to reference sources to find out who this Svengali guy was in order to make sense of this column. It became painfully clear once I read this from Wikipedia:
Svengali is the name of a fictional character in George du Maurier's 1894 novel Trilby. A sensation in its day, the novel created a stereotype of the evil hypnotist that persists to this day.
Also from Wiki was the following:
The word "svengali" has entered the language meaning a person who with evil intent manipulates another into doing what is desired.
Dictionary.com defines Svengali as a noun, meaning "a person who completely dominates another, usually with selfish or sinister motives."

Now that we know what Svengali means, there should be little doubt that Barack Hussein Obama is our modern-day Svengali. In Erik's column, he mentions the unsustainable spending and insurmountable debt that is accumulating at an alarming rate, along with the lack of security on our border and out-of-control illegal immigration that could lead to violence in the Southwest.

But I have one more thing to show you, which should result in having no doubt about Obama being a Svengali, and a very Machiavellian one at that. Watch this video, and then read Erik's column:

May 26, 2010 - Is the Gulf Oil Spill the DeepWatergate?

Video provided by TheREALjohnny2k

As President Obama delivered his florid commencement speech before the graduating class at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point last week, it occurred to me that our president is sort of a hip, black Svengali. Don't listen! I wanted to yell, lest all who heard might become transfixed, and finally, irreversibly hypnotized.

And how amusing, I thought. … The lifelong communist who managed to ascend to the presidency of the United States, advising the graduating class of a military academy that America had "outlasted communism." A calculatedly disarming maneuver, or simply reinforcement of the Obama mythos that he is still the emissary of long-awaited hope and change?

While some Americans remain mesmerized, and many are still at risk, remember that these numbers are dwindling. The number of those who are dedicatedly working to break the spell and reverse the damage increases daily.

Prominent media pundits continue to offer questions to their guests and audiences, such as: "Doesn't the president understand that this kind of spending is unsustainable?" and "Why doesn't he just secure the border?"

I remain nonplussed at these and other queries, because I know the answers to them – and I know full well that I'm not the only one. It's just astounding to me that certain otherwise well-informed, politically savvy folks don't.

Of course President Obama knows that his level of spending is unsustainable. The spending is intended to further compromise the U.S. economy, in the same way as overly aggressive implementation of the Community Reinvestment Act was intended to do so. It would be more surprising if Obama did do something to ameliorate our financial woes, rather than massaging filth into the wound and asserting that it will stave off infection.

Then there's the U.S.-Mexico border. There are a few reasons why this is playing out as it is, including economic reliance and the crop of potential voters aliens represent. The assorted crime victims and young American women whose bodies have been picked clean by coyotes in the desert, or who are currently servicing drug lords after having been dragged back across the border into Mexico are simply not a factor.

The third rationale is a much more sinister raison d'être: Obama and his Marxist minions rely on crises; they would like nothing more than to see civil unrest break out along our southern border. The radicalization of young Americans of Mexican descent by the radical left, the ongoing tolerance of radical activists, educators and politicians and a press that does nothing but exacerbate the situation is a recipe for civil unrest.

Between the cultural balkanization that has taken place and the frustration of border-state residents who realize they've been sold out by a complicit government, pockets of violence could very well erupt, and soon. This will intensify the cries of racism from far-left activists, amplify anger on the part of border-state residents, and the hostilities would likely snowball.

If this happens, the federal government will be "compelled" to intercede to keep the peace – just as the government of the Soviet Union wound up doing for 70 years in Eastern Europe.

Now, realize that spending and inaction on the border are just two manifestations of this administration's grand design for the dismantling of America. There are dozens more of varying scope, but all lead to the same end, and all reflect the character of the principals involved in bringing this about.

The motivations of power-seeking progressives are very easy to understand, if craven, unprincipled and perverse: These are individuals who are of above average intelligence, but who are intrinsically emotionally immature, covetous and narcissistic. Like most people, they have talents and aptitudes, but they don't see these conveying to them the fortune and glory to which they feel entitled, because they know they have no real vision. They'll never compose grand symphonies, achieve great medical breakthroughs, nor found multibillion-dollar companies. Being of the aforementioned temperament, they also form harsh assessments of the people and society around them.

They could have done it better, they reason.

Founders' solutions for illegal immigration (Part 2) ~ By Chuck Norris

Chuck has some great solutions to America's illegal immigration problem, but the question is, will anyone in Washington actually listen? Isn't it possible that the government idiocracy is intentionally not doing anything about illegal immigration? Just sayin'...
As I mentioned earlier, we can't properly deal with the illegals within our borders until we've stopped the flow of any more at our borders. Then, and only then, can we turn our attention to the millions already residing in our country. What I then propose for them is not amnesty in any package, but a one-time solution based upon the 1790-1795 immigration law that would separate the wheat from the chaff, straining out potentially productive and law-abiding citizens who will pay their fair share of taxes as citizens.
This is how America was built, and it is how it can be rebuilt again today – if we secure our borders, better regulate the influx of immigrants to meet and build up societal needs and offer a responsible path to citizenship for immigrants who are already working here and want to become productive American citizens.
By Chuck Norris

(Editor's note: This is Part 2 of a three-part series on solutions to America's illegal immigration problem.)

Watching U.S. members of the House, Senate and the president's Cabinet in a joint session of Congress stand and applaud Mexican President Felipe Calderon's slam of Arizona's new immigration enforcement law, I thought, what a despicable act of disloyalty to one of their own states and a ludicrous leadership move to boot, especially when 71 percent of Arizonans agree with its new immigration law.

President Calderon, how can you possibly criticize the state of Arizona about its newly passed immigration law, when Mexico's immigration law states:
1) Immigrants can't be an economic burden.

2) Immigrants must be healthy.

3) Immigrants must have no criminal record.

4) Immigrants must show a birth certificate.

5) Immigrants must provide their own health care.

6) Government can ban foreigners due to race.

7) Illegal entry is a felony (resulting in jail time).

8) Illegal immigrants can receive no government assistance of any kind.

9) Illegal immigrants' children may not attend public schools.

10) Document fraud is subject to fine/jail.

11) Incarceration and deportation of illegals occurs without due process or a trial.

12) A Mexican who marries a foreigner with the goal of helping the foreigner live in the country is subject to up to five years in prison.

13) Federal, local and municipal police must enforce immigration laws, including checking "papers" of suspected illegals.
President Calderon, your speech in Washington, D.C., in front of our U.S. Congress sounded very hypocritical to me, to say the least! And it was very disappointing to see our Congress stand up and applaud your condemnation of Arizona's new law.

Last week, in Part 1 of this immigration series, I mentioned how it seems like the whole country is taking sides in the battle over the border in Arizona. I was wrong. It's the whole world! Yet it truly remains the tip of the iceberg of our immigration troubles, in light of the feds failure to enforce any immigration laws and how 17 other states are now cracking down on illegals and seeking to enact tougher immigration laws.

In Part 1, I also began to show how America's founders dealt responsibly and forcefully with immigration law. I concluded by outlining key criteria for citizenship from the Naturalization Act of 1795, which remain part of American law. These include:
1) five years of (lawful) residence within the United States; 2) a "good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the United States"; 3) the taking of a formal oath to support the Constitution and to renounce any foreign allegiance; and 4) the renunciation of any hereditary titles.
In order for us to regain control of the chaotic mess and national disunity posed by illegals and press on to achieve the success our forefathers had in immigration, I believe we must apply those four criteria to our naturalization process in a more practical way. ...

Our founders' solutions for illegal immigration ~ By Chuck Norris

In this column, Chuck expounds on what the Founding Fathers had in mind when it came to deciding on how to treat the naturalization of new immigrants. He also states what the dangers are if nothing is done about immigration reform soon, which should definitely include the enforcement of the immigration laws that we have now or after reform. Arizona definitely has the right idea: Enforce the laws as they are now.
Musician Charlie Daniels put it well, when he wrote, "I don't blame anybody in the world for wanting to come to the United States of America, as it is a truly wonderful place. But when the first thing you do when you set foot on American soil is illegal, it is flat-out wrong, and I don't care how many lala-land left heads come out of the woodwork and start trying to give me sensitivity lessons. I don't need sensitivity lessons. In fact, I don't have anything against Mexicans. I just have something against criminals, and anybody who comes into this country illegally is a criminal. If you don't believe it, try coming into America from a foreign country without a passport and see how far you get."
By Chuck Norris

© 2010

(Editor's note: This is Part One of a two-part series on solutions to America's illegal immigration problem. Next week in Part Two, Chuck will lay out our founders' and his plan for dealing with the 12 million-plus illegal immigrants in our country today.)

With his thick Austrian accent, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger quipped in his commencement address at Emory University last week, "I was also going to give a graduation speech in Arizona this weekend. But with my accent, I was afraid they would try to deport me."

It seems that the whole country is taking sides in the battle over the border in Arizona. Yet it truly remains the tip of the iceberg of our immigration troubles. Spurred on by the national debate, at least 10 other states are now seeking to enact tougher illegal immigration laws.

Now, more than ever, we must protect our borders and sovereignty by providing genuine solutions to the dangers of American boundary fluidity. With estimates showing that by 2060 America will add 167 million people (37 million immigrants today will multiply into 105 million then), it is imperative for us to do more to solve this crisis. Now is the time to beat the doors of change and save the boundaries and future of America.

The federal government has miserably failed to produce a viable solution to the illegal immigrant crisis. Amnesty is not the answer. And immigration laws aren't effective if we continue to dodge or ignore them. Furthermore, globalization efforts have only confused security matters, further endangering our borders as well as our national identity – our sovereignty. And the question that keeps coming to my mind is: How is it that we can secure borders in the Middle East, but we can't secure our own?

From America's birth, our founders struggled, too, with international enemies and border troubles, from the sea of Tripoli to the Western frontier. While welcoming the poor, downtrodden and persecuted from every country, they also had to protect the sacred soil they called home from unwanted intruders.

According to the Declaration of Independence, "obstructing the Laws for the Naturalization of Foreigners" was one of the objections leveled against Britain that warranted the American colonists' secession. Yet even the founders themselves believed that a total open-door policy for immigrants would only lead to complete community and cultural chaos.

Under the Articles of Confederation (our "first constitution"), each state possessed the authority over naturalization. Such diversity, however, led the founders at the Constitutional Convention to shift the power of naturalization to the federal government. The Constitution therefore reads in Article I, Section 8, that Congress shall have the authority to "establish a uniform rule of naturalization."

We discuss and debate new ways to resolve the social crisis we call illegal immigration, but our founders again pointed the way more than 200 years ago. Like enrolling in an Ivy League school, they considered and promoted American citizenship as a high honor. James Madison shared the collective sentiment back then when he stated, "I do not wish that any man should acquire the privilege, but such as would be a real addition to the wealth or strength of the United States." Hence, they processed applicants and selected only the ones that contributed to the building up and advancement of their grand experiment called America.

Balancing justice and compassion ~ By Dave Welch

Dave Welch brings up some excellent points. This column reminded me of what I wrote just yesterday, "Safety Net: Personal responsibility and charity should matter," where I was talking about charity (compassion) and personal responsibility (living by the rule of law). Dave is well aware that the biggest lack of compassion, by our own government, is by allowing the illegal immigration to take place for decades. And now that the system is broken, because of not abiding by our own laws (both government and businesses), we have a real problem of being able to be compassionate in how we deal with the situation. Great column, Dave!
What I do believe is that immigration reform should be off the table until those clamoring for it the loudest first commit to closing and securing our borders to the fullest extent of our ability. Build fences and/or walls, tear down walk bridges, take down steps, place National Guard – or even better, U.S. Marines – on the border; whatever it takes.

Once that is accomplished, we must deal with the terribly dysfunctional immigration and guest-worker process that once worked but now allows terrorists in and keeps out solid, educated and professional would-be citizens who would be an asset to this nation.
If you have broken the law, it must be made right. If you are working to change or enforce the law, keep mindful of your mind and motives so we can balance justice and compassion.

By Dave Welch

The rising tensions surrounding the immigration crisis are once again placing front and center the issue of just how tenuous is the balance between the principles of justice and compassion. The reality is that one is impossible without the other, yet we constantly try to separate them.

For example, the "law and order" mindset says that if you broke the law to get here and have likely broken numerous laws while here, you have no right to stay, nor any children you brought or bore here.

Contrarily, the "compassionate" mindset says that these are all real humans who deserve to be treated with dignity and that we cannot just lock up or ship out those here illegally.

Some on both sides are right; some on both sides are wrong.

First, it is self-evident that no home, neighborhood, city, society or nation can long survive without operating under the respect for the rule of law that protects the life, liberty and property of every innocent citizen under its jurisdiction. The primary restraint that preserves the greatest freedom for the most people exists in the heart of the individual that is grounded in the acknowledgment of a personal, caring and just God.

If I assume that my every thought, every action and every word are going to be one day replayed before a righteous and holy God to weigh on His scales for my "reward," you can guarantee it will give me pause on all three fronts.

As I explained to my son, who like thousands of others returning from Iraq and Afghanistan is wrestling with the demons of combat trauma and guilt of having had to kill, they have not committed murder. If he took a life in the performance of his duties under legitimate authority in a justified context of war, that is clearly not in violation of either God's or man's laws.

However, the rage and hatred that develops for "the enemy" because of the unthinkable acts and atrocities they witnessed lead them to a condition of murder even without taking life. Are you confused? Listen to the words of Jesus Christ:
You have heard that the ancients were told, ''YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT MURDER" and "whoever commits murder shall be liable to the court." But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever says to his brother, "You good-for-nothing," shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever says, "You fool," shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell.

– Matthew 5:21, 22 NASB
Similarly, if our frustration with the inaction of our government on immigration turns to anger and even hatred of any who have come here illegally, we are now in danger ourselves.

Our Lord raised the bar beyond our actions to even hold us accountable for the condition of our soul, which, as we are reminded, is the spring out of which our thoughts and actions flow. If our mind, will and emotions are driven by something other than love of and loyalty to God and His commandments, we will ultimately be driven by self-interest.

Both sides of the immigration debate have significant elements of self-interest involved, not all of which is wrong or even unlawful. It is not wrong to desire what is best for my family's care and even survival; it is almost always wrong to break laws to achieve it.

It is also not wrong to want safety, security and blessings for my family that cause me to insist that people be kept out of this country who live outside the laws I must obey and who demand that I surrender property, income and freedom to accommodate them. It is wrong, however to avoid taking responsibility for being apathetic toward the inhumanity of a broken immigration system, unjust and corrupt policies of our government that harm many people, and even for our own love of cheap goods and labor.

Don't cry for me, Arizona ~ By Burt Prelutsky

Burt reflects the opinion of many people across this land that support the new Arizona immigration law. In this column, he goes after the critics of the law that seem to be able to say whatever they want to, many of them that use race-baiting, hypocrisy, and lies about what the law does.
In my opinion, it should be a criminal act for anyone to compare the new law in Arizona in any way, shape or form to what took place in Nazi Germany. Hitler, in case it slipped your mind, was arresting, torturing and murdering Germans for no other reason than that they were Jews, Catholics, gypsies, invalids and homosexuals. Members of the Gestapo weren't simply asking to look at green cards and sending non-citizens back to Poland, France and Holland. They were sending them to Auschwitz.

Ironically, Article 67 of Mexico's Immigration Law states: "Authorities, whether federal, state or municipal, are required to demand that foreigners prove their legal presence in the country." In spite of which, President Calderon had the gall to compare our border fence to the Berlin Wall. Nobody bothered pointing out to the jackass that there's a world of difference between building a barrier to keep illegal aliens out and erecting one to prevent one's own citizens from escaping.

When you're a right-winger living in California, you tend to envy people who live elsewhere. For a long time, I've envied Texans. For one thing, judging by my e-mail, most of my biggest fans seem to live in the Lone Star State. But, also, aside from an occasional cretin like Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, Texans seem to elect more than their share of stalwart conservatives.

Another state I came to admire was Oklahoma. That was after discovering that it was the only state in the Union in which Obama failed to carry a single county in 2008.

Now, of course, I've lost my heart to Arizona. At last, a state has sounded the alarm about illegal aliens. Sure it was a long time coming, but at least Gov. Jan Brewer and the Arizona Legislature have finally stood up for the law of the land. Even John McCain, who has spent years sounding like an immigration lawyer, jumped aboard the bandwagon.

On the other side, we have virtually every hack politician with a Hispanic last name ready and eager to display his ignorance, bigotry and lack of patriotism. I mean, really, is there an uglier, more disgusting sight than a bunch of dunderheads complaining about racial profiling when their own actions and statements are based solely on race?

Arizona has been overrun by at least half a million illegals who have placed unbearable burdens on its schools, hospitals and emergency rooms. They have made Phoenix the kidnap capital of North America and turned its countryside into an open sewer for drug smugglers. It took the cold-blooded murder of an elderly rancher before the good folks of Arizona said, enough is enough.

We keep hearing the same stale propaganda that these sneaks are the people who'll do the jobs gringos won't. Well, I have a news flash: With unemployment hovering at 10 percent, if those jobs ever existed in the past, they don't exist today. Besides, why should they get the jobs that could go to people waiting patiently for their names to be called in Ghana, Poland and Vietnam?

The only people who oppose Arizona's new law – a law based, by the way, on our own federal law – are members of the Catholic Church hierarchy who are anxious to fill church pews; drug lords who want to maintain a steady flow of product, users and salesmen; President Calderon, who wants those American dollars to continue flowing south to keep the Mexican economy afloat; American politicians with names like Hernandez and Gomez, who want to increase their power base; and punks like Mayor Gavin Newsome who represent places as left and loony as San Francisco. We shouldn't overlook the DNC, an organization so corrupt that Mafia dons attend their seminars to pick up tips from the likes of James Carville and Rahm Emanuel.

Arizona's battle will only get worse ~ By Barbara Simpson

Barbara tells us about the horrible situation in Arizona with illegal immigrants (and others) coming across our Southern border. Why would anyone not want to stop this from happening? She answers that question.
How did our border with a "friendly neighbor" turn into a highway for lawbreakers? How is it that politicians and the president make excuses and do nothing?

Perhaps there is a motive: allow the numbers of illegals to get so big that their only solution is amnesty, even though the American people don't want it.

I didn't want to see the headline, but there it was just as I began this column.

An Arizona lawman was shot by illegal aliens. Fortunately, he wasn't killed.

That's not the kind of news the pro-illegal-immigration forces in government and media want to see. In their own "honest, unbiased" way, they virtually ignore it.

Instead, they focus on the issue that the state of Arizona is trying to get a handle on a problem it's faced for years: the tidal wave of illegal aliens crossing the border from Mexico.

For a week, Arizona has been roiled because of legislation signed into law a week ago by Gov. Jan Brewer.

It restates federal law that police have a right to question the immigration status of people stopped or questioned for probable cause. Essentially, the law says being an illegal alien in Arizona is illegal, reaffirming federal law.

The reaction to the legislation was as though Arizona had turned into "hate central" with politicians and the media tossing around the usual leftist slurs such as "Nazi" and "KKK" and whatever other epithets could be dredged up. Disruptive protesters destroyed property, attacked police and chanted accusations of racial profiling.

Arizona needs the law because Washington ignores the federal law. Arizona is overrun with illegals, and the state has become the major transit route for border-jumpers, drug running and human trafficking.

It's not only expensive for Arizona taxpayers, it's downright dangerous.

Case in point, last Friday afternoon: Pinal County Sheriff Deputy Louie Puroll, a 15-year veteran of the department, was on regular smuggling interdiction patrol in the desert between Phoenix and Tucson. He encountered five men, suspected illegals, who were transporting bales of marijuana. At least two were armed.

The area is commonly used by illegals entering this country and for the movement of drugs and people. Puroll confronted the men and was shot with an AK-47. The men beat it, perhaps thinking the deputy was dead. But he wasn't and radioed for help.

It took a massive search, but he was located and taken to the hospital. He had a chunk of skin torn from his back, but his injuries aren't serious.

A manhunt for the suspects has rounded up 17 suspected illegal aliens.

Sheriff Lt. Tamatha Villar said the shooting took place in an area with increasing drugs and violence.

She told KTAR-TV, "We've had increasing concerns in this area about being outmanned and outgunned and unfortunately this evening, this is coming true."

But at least Deputy Puroll is alive.

Rancher Rob Krentz is dead. He was shot and killed three weeks ago, as was his dog, on his own ranch, as he went to assist suspected illegals on the property. He was well-known in Cochise County for assisting such people. For his good heartedness, he was killed.

The illegals escaped back to Mexico.
