Governments don't create prosperity ~ By John Stossel

John Stossel weighs in on the "government spending creates jobs" issue. After spending trillions of dollars in order to stimulate our economy, unemployment remains high and the economy remains stagnant. One of the points that Stossel makes here is how uncertainty continues to drag down our economy. Pour all the money you can into improving the infrastructure, in other words, and nothing will change if small business - the engine of the economy - is reluctant to expand. The private sector needs to be expanding in order for our economy to prosper.

Governments don't create prosperity

Politicians say they create jobs, but they really don't. Or rather, they rarely create productive jobs. Government has no money of its own. All it does is take resources from one group and give them to another. The pharaohs might have claimed they created work when they ordered that pyramids be built, but think how much richer (and freer) the Egyptians would have been if they'd been allowed to pursue their own interests.

It's individuals in the marketplace who create real jobs – when they have the protection of life and property under the rule of law.

Economic freedom is the key. The theory couldn't be more clear, and at this late date in human history, it shouldn't be necessary to rehearse the abundant evidence. Look at the various indexes that correlate economic freedom with economic growth. The healthiest economies are those with the most economic freedom. Unemployment is low in those places – 3 percent in Hong Kong, 2 percent in Singapore, 5 percent in Australia

Alas, the United States places ninth, behind Canada, and those countries with the least economic freedom have few real jobs and no prosperity.

Unfortunately, most politicians still don't understand – or have no incentive to understand – that economic freedom, and therefore less government, creates prosperity. Well, maybe that's changing. This year is first I've heard so many presidential candidates talk about the private sector. Indeed, one candidate, former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, told me he created "not one single job. ... Government does not create jobs."

The Solyndra dilemma ~ By Henry Lamb

Video provided by aimaccuracy on Sep 19, 2011

I know, I've been spoiling for a conflict here on this blog lately. I mentioned Victoria Jackson's column about the political corruption and voting fraud in Alaska and probably elsewhere, and Phil Elmore's column about what the Obama machine will try to do to you when you say anything about the Obama machine. And, I've been at this for quite awhile, there have been other Obama secrets that I've brought to light through the writings of so many well informed patriots, such as the writer of this column, Henry Lamb.

In his column, Henry explains the reasons why the Solyndra failure is such a big political problem for the Obama Administration. Green jobs, the economy, trying to compete with forced labor in China... It just isn't a pretty picture for the job-loser-in-chief. The green jobs aren't going to cut it. And then add in the possibility that the Solyndra funding was just stupid and guaranteed to fail, as in the prediction that Solyndra would not survive past September 2011... Oh, wait...

As I was saying, I am sure that letting you know about the information that is provided - facts included - could definitely be a problem for those that are bent on silencing their opposition. I'm just sayin'....

Editor's note: Listen to this column online.

The political dilemma is not that surprising. Politicians can be expected to give special favors to their major contributors. Rarely are these political rewards so brazen, or so costly, as the $535 million loan guarantee given to the company whose major investor just happened to be George Kaiser, a major fundraiser for President Obama. Even more scandalous, was the loan restructuring agreed to by the Obama administration, which subordinated repayment to the federal government in favor of repayment of Kaiser's personal investment in Solyndra.

A credit review panel in the Bush administration ruled unanimously against granting this loan. A similar review panel in Obama's administration predicted that Solyndra would go belly-up by September 2011. Nevertheless, the Obama administration decided to grant the loan guarantee and make a spectacle of the event to promote Obama's new "green" economy.

Politically, this deal stinks to high heaven.

Political hanky-panky is the least of the Solyndra dilemma; the real dilemma is the reason behind Solyndra's failure.

The cold hard fact is that China can produce solar panels, and everything else for that matter, for a cost far less than competing products can be produced in the United States. The question is "why?" The answer is easy.

'Fishy' politics in Alaska ~ By Victoria Jackson

Just yesterday, I had posted the column written this week by my friend Phil Elmore, "Please report me to #AttackWatch." In my introduction, I wrote, "It is time to make the Obama strategy 'shovel ready.' (There, now you have the ammunition to also report me to #AttackWatch!)"

Well, throw in this post of the column by Vicky Jackson, and maybe I will be the one that becomes "shovel ready!" In her column, Vicky reported on the voting issues in Alaska. I included the first of the videos she provided to us in her column.

When I finished reading Vicky's column, and watched the video you will see below, and then regarded what Phil Elmore discussed in his column, I had to wonder if there was anything we could do to stop an evil machine that's bent on "transforming America" into a tyrannical nightmare.

With the general ignorance of most American people, I am starting to wonder if freedom is becoming "shovel ready." (By the way, when seeing the words, "Shovel ready," think: Grave diggers.)   I'm just sayin'...

"It's not who votes that counts, but who counts the votes."

– Josef Stalin
I was dying to ask Joe Miller about the ridiculously "fishy" 2010 Alaskan Senate election. Driving from a Juneau tea party held in an empty room in a rundown mall, back to our WND Celebrity cruise ship, Joe, his beautiful wife, Kathleen, and our beautiful volunteer driver, homeschool mom/tea-party activist Barbara, were kind enough to oblige me.

"Miller ran on the tea-party platform of reduced taxes and government, opposition to abortion, repeal of the health-care law passed by the Democrats in 2010, and restriction of federal earmarks for local projects."

Sounds like my kind of candidate. And, listen to his resume: Joe is an attorney, a U.S. magistrate judge, a faithful husband and father of eight, a 1997 graduate of Yale Law School, a combat veteran of the 1991 Gulf War and a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point where he received his bachelor's degree in political science with honors, and where he was a member of the Officer's Christian Fellowship, an organization that seeks to "develop career-long 'ambassadors for Christ in uniform.'" Wow.

Joe Miller, please be the president.

Please report me to #AttackWatch ~ By Phil Elmore

Phil Elmore explains the Orwellian tactics that the Democrats/Liberals/Progressives are taking in order to protect their control of We the People. Let me summarize what Phil is saying in simple words: It is time to make the Obama strategy "shovel ready." (There, now you have the ammunition to also report me to #AttackWatch!)

More than two years ago in Technocracy, I wrote of the "culture of informing," a "tattletale nation of citizens suspiciously monitoring their fellow citizens' law-abiding behavior." I also characterized a then relatively newly elected President Obama, whom I referred to as our technology dictator, as a totalitarian who, among other things, wishes to control the Internet itself to stifle free speech and silence criticism. Especially interesting in light of my recent excoriation of James Hoffa for calls to violence among union members (and my denunciation of apologists trying, dishonestly, to dismiss Hoffa's agitation) was the fact that I referenced, in 2009, lib violence directed at silencing conservatives – all in the name of squelching what bug-eyed leftist Nancy Pelosi described as "un-American" dissent. Taken as a whole, the move by liberals to establish thoughtcrime, to criminalize dissenting political opinion, was and is nothing short of Orwellian in scope and intensity:
When Obama's transition website, Change.gov, can be retroactively scrubbed to remove all references to his confiscatory plans to disarm American citizens, Orwell's prediction of a revisionist state has already come true. When Obama can go on record as saying that he supports single-payer socialist medicine, then baldly lie and say he doesn't, Orwell's vision of a dishonest and double-speaking state is reality. When Homeland Security declares that almost all conservatives and libertarians in the country are domestic terrorists, Orwell's nightmare of a government making dissenters "unpersons" is only too real. When your pediatrician's office wants to know if you own any guns, Orwell's citizen spies are already poking through your trash and peeking in your windows.

When your president urges you to report to the government any citizens who dare to question his socialist schemes, asking you to send an email to flag @ whitehouse.gov, technology has ushered us into Orwell's past future, and we have all become Winston Smith.
When George W. Bush was in power and libs found their patriotism questioned for their demoralizing attacks on the missions undertaken by the United States military, Hillary Clinton famously screeched that she was "sick and tired" of such criticism. "We are Americans," she cawed, "and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration!" Under Bush, the libs successfully redefined "patriotism," at least in popular culture, as dissent. No longer was patriotism defined as support of one's nation and the expression of that support for your country's military efforts.

Joseph Farah's communist ties! ~ By Victoria Jackson

In this column, you can find out what Victoria Jackson found out about Joseph Farah. This is something that I didn't even know about. Joseph Farah: To the left of Communists? This is the story of Joseph's 180 degree turn-around in political views, and it is amazing. I am impressed. Do you know what (or who) it was that turned Mr. Farah around? You will find out in this column, and it is even more impressive!

While hopping across puddles in the city of Ketchikan, Alaska, where it rains 360 days a year, which makes it very green and beautiful, I fell into step with Joseph Farah, the creator and CEO of WND. Our group was going to see the salmon swim upstream and spawn. Somehow the conversation got around to Bernardine Dohrn. Joseph knew her. And he knew William Ayers. What?!

"Were you a communist?!" I said.

"Worse than that. I was left of communism," Joseph said with a chuckle.

I tried to think what would be left of communism. I guess, chaos. Yeah, chaos. That is extreme right also. So, I guess if you go extreme left, you come back again full circle.

Laughable Hoffa apologists ~ By Phil Elmore

In this latest Technocracy column, Phil Elmore responds to the little lib whiners who think that James P. Hoffa's Labor Day speech had been taken out of context by the Fox News Channel. Phil points out that the rhetoric that was spewed out in that fateful speech where Hoffa said, ""Let's take these son of a bitches out," should be judged by both context and tone

If the Democrats are serious about toning down the "violent rhetoric," then why was it okay with the liberals for Hoffa to speak in that manner? But if a Conservative said anything like Hoffa's violent sounding rhetoric, well, as we all know, Phil Elmore is right when he wrote that "Condemning dissent as a precursor to violence is a favorite lib tactic for silencing conservatives." You only need to read the reader comments in this column and two related columns shown below to know that Phil is right on the money about how liberals are willing to condemn conservatives but not their own.

Only minutes after last week's Technocracy column went live, a small army of leftist trolls and self-proclaimed "independents" began bleating that the article was a lie. In the piece, I condemned a Labor Day speech by union leader James Hoffa in which Hoffa encouraged union members to commit acts of violence against the tea party. Through WND's Facebook application, several prolific "top commenters" – who are, in fact, simply persistent contrarians trolling WND's pages – whined that Fox News' clip of Hoffa's speech had been selectively, manipulatively edited to create the impression that Hoffa said something he truly did not.

Amidst the urgent squeals of "Fox! Fox! Fox! Smear! Smear! Smear!" these media watchdogs forgot to include, as targets of their ire, ABC News, which also aired the clip. Still, the stupidity of "compressing" the sound bite by eliminating the only piece of possibly mitigating verbiage is obvious. I have written previously about leftists' breathless desires to demonize Fox News. Editing the clip in this manner simply hands the network's enemies more ammunition, while doing Fox – arguably the only major news organization not already a wholly owned subsidiary of the Democratic National Committee – no favors.

Neither the alleged perfidy of Fox News nor the casual inclusion of a reference to voting excuse, rationalize, justify, or even sufficiently modify Hoffa's comments, however. Neither point, even if the former were true, makes any difference whatsoever.

Ponzi! Ponzi! Ponzi! ~ By John Stossel

In this column, John Stossel starts out with the statement, "People need to hear it." The latest smack-down on the Social Security program is not meant to "scare the old people," but it sure could sway the way people vote in 2012.

The truth may be too severe to have to hear right now, but it is important for people to know it. The Payroll Tax, where employers not only withhold a portion of your paycheck for Social Security (FICA) and Medicare, they must also match that amount of your "contributions" in their payment to the U.S. Treasury, Yes, it's a tax, and as you'll learn in this column by John Stossel, it is not truly a retirement account, nor is it guaranteed for the fact that the plan can be changed at the whim of Congress.

Ponzi! Ponzi! Ponzi! There, I said it. To the extent people believe there are trust funds with their names on them, Social Security is absolutely a Ponzi scheme. So is Medicare. People need to hear it.

Many people think that when the government takes payroll tax from their paychecks, it goes to something like a savings account. Seniors who collect Social Security think they're just getting back money that they put into their "account." Or they think it's like an insurance policy – you win if you live long enough to get more than you paid in. Neither is true. Nothing is invested. The money taken from you was spent by government that year. Right away. There's no trust fund. The plan is unsustainable. Medicare is worse.

Mitt Romney and other Republicans who scoff at Rick Perry shamelessly pander to older voters. They should tell people the truth.

Still, I'm not convinced Perry has more than a sound bite. In his USA Today op-ed this week, the most he says is, "We must consider reforms to make Social Security financially viable." He doesn't say what kind of reforms.

Obama: Those ideas failed already ~ By Herman Cain

In this column, we're reminded why Obama's economic strategies are not working. Uncertainty is one of the major reasons why the economy isn't "stimulated."

As the column continues on, Herman Cain spells out his NEW plan to get the economy going again. Herman's "9-9-9" plan is vastly different than his original ideas, where the Fair Tax had been featured. Will Cain's new 9-9-9 plan help or hurt him in his quest for the Presidency? You can find out what the new 9-9-9 plan is by reading this column, and then you can decide for yourself.

I've provided the video below to assist you with informing yourself.

The U.S. economy is on life support. The stock market is on a roller coaster. The unemployment situation has gotten worse. The Middle East is more volatile than ever. Congress has one of the lowest approval ratings in history, while President Obama's approval rating has hit a new low.

And now, after his big "jobs speech" before a joint session of Congress last week, the president wants to spend another nearly $450 billion to turn things around, since the first stimulus of nearly $1 trillion did not work. The speech contained the same kind of ideas he proposed earlier, packaged in some different rhetoric except for two new additions.

First, he proposed to cut the payroll tax in half for both employees and employers, but he did not say for how long. Granted, it's half of what I have been proposing for months. But without major companion cuts in the top corporate and personal income tax rates, and the suspension of taxes on repatriated foreign profits, it's just another crumb from the want-to-be king's table.

Businesses are not going to rush out and start hiring people, just as they did not when the president passed the 2 percent payroll tax crumb in the first stimulus package. And businesses still do not know what the tax structure will be in 2013. That's not fuel for the economic engine, which is the business sector. It's just a few dollars in the pockets of workers and more uncertainty.

Marco Rubio and eligibility ~ By Robert Klein Engler

Robert Klein Engler brings up some very intriguing points in this column regarding Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and the issue of his Constitutional eligibility to even serve as Vice President of the United States. Because of the questionable eligibility issue regarding the "natural born citizen" requirement in Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution of the United States, Rush Limbaugh may not have had it right when he "endorsed" Rubio.

Engler offers very plausible reasons why Marco Rubio can't get the VP slot on the GOP ticket. But what makes this commentary really worth reading is that Engler provokes some thoughtful consideration regarding the eligibility issue. What if there is a potentially great GOP candidate on the 2012 ticket, like Rubio, that may not meet the same eligibility standards that the "birthers" are saying that Obama doesn't meet? What happens then?

Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL)
Sen. Marco Rubio's star is rising in the Republican Party. There is talk he may be on the ticket as a candidate for vice president once the party picks its candidate for president. If it's up to the birthers and the Country Club Republicans, Rubio's place on the ticket may not materialize.

For years, the birthers have been treated with disdain by the left and mainstream media. Part of this disdain is generated by fringe elements in the birther community. If the media can overlook these fringe elements, they will see that many birthers are loyal Americans who simply want the U.S. Constitution to be respected. In short, the birther argument against Obama and possibly Sen. Rubio is a constitutional argument.

There are many in the birther camp who argue that when the U.S. Constitution says being a "natural born citizen" (Article II, Section 1) is one qualification to be president and vice president, it means that both parents of the candidate must have been U.S. citizens when the candidate for president was born.

They argue that to be a natural born citizen of the United States requires not only birth on U.S. soil but two parents as U.S. citizens as well. This argument is not spelled out in the Constitution but is an interpretation of the unique phrase "natural born citizen." Nevertheless, there are valid and strong arguments in favor of the two-parent position. Writing in WND, Drew Zahn sums up these arguments.

At the end of his summation, Zahn adds, "The U.S. Supreme Court, for its part, has admitted the Constitution does not define what is meant by 'natural born citizen' and hasn't offered a ruling to solve the dispute."

The very fact that the high court has not defined what "natural born citizen" means is why Marco Rubio will not be a candidate for vice president. Nobody wants to raise this issue in court, let alone Republicans or Democrats.

Rush Limbaugh predicts: Marco Rubio will be president

Joe Kovacs reports on Rush Limbaugh's statements regarding Marco Rubio and the success of Conservatives in the Republican Party and failures of the moderate Republicans. However, Kovacs reports, not mentioned by Limbaugh is that Rubio's Constitutional eligibility to be President is in question. Would that be a problem if Rubio is nominated for the Vice President side of the GOP ticket?

PALM BEACH, Fla. – Even though he's not running for the presidency and may not even be eligible for it, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida will someday hold the highest office in the land, according to talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh.

U. S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL)
The top-rated political analyst made the prediction this afternoon while making a point about sticking to candidates with conservative purity instead of promoting moderate Republicans.

"You want conservative purity," said Limbaugh, "I'll give it to you: Marco Rubio, who is someday going to be president of the United States."

He made the statement as part of an in-depth discussion on whether conservatives should remain faithful to their values, or become more moderate.

He cited Rubio, an unabashed conservative, who defeated former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, often described as a moderate, in the race for U.S. Senate.

Hey, Hoffa: You will be held accountable ~ By Phil Elmore

Phil Elmore explores the fact that you won't get away with just saying or writing whatever you wish when it comes to uttering violence-inciting rhetoric. Those people who do not heed that warning can easily be identified should they attempt to hide their identity. In many cases, however, there seems to be people that seem to believe they are immune from recourse when it comes to their public comments. And in the days of the internet, 24/7 news, and social media, the immediacy of communication can lead to quick repercussions.

In the court of public opinion, on the street initiating violence against a citizen whose right is to self-defense, and, if need be, before judges and juries in our legal system, violent libs WILL be held accountable. These Democratic thugs are lucky we are not the violent people they accuse us of being. We are, in fact, the epitome of restraint. The hypocrite, would-be bullies among the liberals, who are so eager, so enthusiastic, to do violence against us because we dare to disagree with them, should be thanking whatever gods or godless doctrines they worship that we possess the self-control they lack.

Every single person you'd like to "take out," you leftist cowards, is a real human being who isn't just going to lay down and die because you demanded it. While you're whining and mewling about the "violent rhetoric" and "hate speech" you read into and misconstrue from innocent comments made by conservatives and libertarians, remember that it is your side of the political aisle making genuine, explicit and legally actionable exhortations to physical assault.

01-SEP-11 Edition: U.S. must stand with Israel ~ By Herman Cain

Glenn Beck's special event in Israel on "Restoring Courage," where I attended the closing program, could not have been held in a more appropriate location. No other nation has exemplified courage throughout its history better than the nation of Israel. It has consistently survived and thrived against the odds.

The United States must have the courage to stand with its friend, Israel, despite the enemies around it. It is in our shared interest to do so for the sake of peace in the Middle East and the rest of the world.

With me as president of the United States of America, we would stand with Israel.
I just saw a movie last night that may have enhanced my perspective to this very relevant column. The movie, "The Blind Side," was about doing the moral thing, sticking to our convictions, looking out for our loved ones, and supporting each other with more than just words. It takes actions to really do what God wants us to do for each other. As a commenter on Netflix for this movie wrote, "...Leigh Tuohy, a Christian woman who does more than talk about her faith..."

Mrs. Tuohy displayed the courage to Michael Oher and helped him to learn how to take the responsibility to protect his team mates, especially in keeping the quarterback from taking a big hit from "the blind side." Leigh taught Michael that the love of family also meant protection of family. It was a good lesson in life. And it was a good lesson for certain American leaders that need to be responsible for having the courage to protect Israel.

The United States still has many allies around the world, but none more solid than the country of Israel, especially in that part of the world. (It was kind of like the courage that Leigh Tuohy had to have in order to go into Michael Oher's former neighborhood... Or for that matter, in how she dealt with the misgivings of her peers!) Shouldn't America be honoring the commitment to defend Israel? Isn't that the honorable thing to do? Is that not the courageous thing to do?

Herman Cain has once again impressed me as a courageous candidate among the great Republican field of hopefuls for the GOP nomination. In this column, he makes sure that the readers know where he stands on Israel. That is a very important distinction that I would want to see in the next GOP nominee.

And of course, trust is a virtue that I have wanted to have in any political candidate. With trust comes responsibility, an indispensable ingredient that can only be derived from courage. While the Tuohy family and Michael Oher exemplified responsibility and courage to do what was right, America is in need of a leader that would be willing to stick out his/her neck - and ours - for Israel. If that isn't the kind of leader you want, then forget about Herman Cain. I'm just sayin'...

U.S. must stand with Israel
HERMAN CAIN

By Herman Cain

Imagine living in a neighborhood where most of your neighbors wish you would move away. Since you have a right to be there and it happens to be the home of many generations of your family, you refuse to be intimidated into leaving, even though you are violently attacked frequently and sometimes family members are killed. Although painfully saddened, your resolve to remain there is not weakened.

That neighborhood is the dwelling place of Israel, a nation surrounded by many of its enemies.

Having spent last week in Israel talking and listening with many of Israel's citizens, the deputy speaker of the Knesset, the leader of the opposition party in the Knesset, the mayor of Jerusalem, the mayor of the city of Ariel and the deputy prime minister, and touring the landscape of Israel, I now have a greater appreciation for the threats against Israel, its frustrations and its genuine desire for peace.

Threats against Israel from some of its neighboring nations and the Palestinians are very real. Those threats are not only from Iran wanting to wipe Israel off of the face of the earth, but also frequent terrorist attacks, most recently along its southern border.

After seeing first-hand the proximity of its enemy's borders to communities within Israel, and the peaceful and positive developments in the city of Ariel, often referred to as the West Bank, it is easy to understand why the Israelis consider the idea of going back to the pre-1967 borders, as proposed by President Obama, to be unreasonable, impractical and, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said, a non-starter.

Unreasonable and impractical demands by the Palestinians have stalled the so-called peace process for decades. This was not just a recent conclusion from one trip to Israel. This is from decades of watching the developments between Israel and the Palestinians as far back as the efforts of former President Jimmy Carter.

One of Israel's major frustrations stems from a lack of clarity about its relationship with the United States of America.
