I Refuse to Live in a Surveillance State ~ Ep. 1435 ~ The Dan Bongino Show

From the Dan Bongino Show's description of this episode in his Show Notes (a.k.a. Newsletter!):
In this episode, I discuss the impeachment “hearing” debacle on Capitol Hill and the growing threat of the tech tyrants. I also give an inside baseball update on Parler.

You will see that in the labels for this post, at the bottom of the page, I included, "Tech Tyrants Declare War on Trump". There is a very good reason for using this label.  Here is a little hint about what you'll learn from Dan's show today:  President Trump was kicked off of Twitter; he was then looking for a new platform to be able to keep in contact with the public.  (Oh, yeah, he still is our President, the last I heard!)  Well, shucks, one of the leading competitors to Twitter suddenly goes dark.  Hmm, sounds a little suspicious, no?  Especially when you see some evidence that Dan is going to share with you.

I know, just the above will get you excited about seeing this episode, if you haven't already, but there is more that you will take away from this episode.  Dan discusses the gross hypocrisy of the politicians and fake news media on the Left.  Once you've seen it, you'll start seeing examples of it all around.

I think that if I say too much about what I think was the most important segment, you may not believe me, at least, not until you see this episode all the way through.  Maybe the scariest thing we could be facing, soon, is a surveillance State.  The use of facial recognition products could be very dangerous.  Ya think?  It will be interesting to see how the media handles this issue.

Because I know that Dan Bongino would prefer that I embed the Rumble.com video here, I am now doing that! It finally came to me how to do it, and I am very pleased, because it doesn't require me to use the JavaScript code to do it! So, when you are watching, you will not be seeing it via youtube.com again. Nope, not here. Ever!  No more screwtube embedded video here! Forevs! So, it's now RUMBLE all the way, Dan.  For Dan's show page on Rumble.com, click here.

Be sure to see the SHOW NOTES for Episode 1435 for related news stories.

From freedom to fascism in a few easy steps ~ By Bob Livingston

In America we have benevolent totalitarianism. This is a term that we created to describe the modern system of government that is fascism in all but name. It is all hidden under that loving word “democracy.” This is a political lock with an iron grip on the minds of the population.

Any political, economic, or military alchemy or chicanery is hidden behind the word “democracy.” This is a major, major key to understanding reality today.
So, after reading this column, do you get the idea that the elections don't matter?  That there is no way we can ever elect the people that can, or will try to, turn things around?  However, I really have no intention to post this column here in order to depress you.

While Bob Livingston explains how America got to this point of "benevolent totalitarianism," he doesn't mention if there is a way to reverse the transformation of America.  There is, but if it took "just over 200 years" to go from freedom to Fascism in America, it will probably take a few more hundred years to return the genie of Fascism back into the bottle.  We can't do it overnight without God's intervention! Just sayin'...
America still has all the symbols of liberty and all the trappings of human freedom. It is totalitarianism made palatable with a democratic aura.

So what is the difference between ugly and obvious Nazi fascism and modern fascism under the pretense of democracy? Modern fascism is hidden and twisted under an aura of benevolence.

From freedom to fascism in a few easy steps
By Bob Livingston

Posted on June 29, 2015 on PersonalLiberty.com

Politicians know this ruse well: If they want to put something illegal or immoral upon the people, they simply create names that convey something good and/or operate in secret to cover their chicanery.

The president and Congress have used this old ruse once again as they move forward the so-called free trade treaties, the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership. The treaties are so secretive that congressweasels had to sign nondisclosure statements to view them in secret rooms, and they cannot discuss specifics or take notes of the treaties. Most of the congressweasels did not even bother to read the treaties before voting for them, but they tell us they are for our own good.

So here we have Congress legislating away American sovereignty through stealth and deception, aided and abetted by the [distracting] clamor over a Confederate battle flag flying in South Carolina.

And over there we have new calls for gun control under the guise of “bipartisanship” from Sens. Pat Toomey and Joe Manchin following the shooting of nine Christians worshiping in a church. Never mind that the shooter, a deranged, bigoted, drug-addled psychopath broke no fewer than 10 laws in the process of committing his heinous crime. The elites tell us another gun law would have certainly stopped him in his tracks, and removing the flag aforetime would have certainly ended his bigoted notions.

Next we have, the Supreme Court assaulting religious liberty and the historical tradition of marriage with a power-usurping ruling legalizing so-called “gay marriage.

Propaganda is distortion to promote illegitimate government designs or to promote usury commerce. Behind every propaganda message, there is the transfer of wealth and power to the corporate state. The propaganda covers the slide toward fascism. In fascism, as in America today, commerce and government overlap.

We have come from freedom to fascism in America in just over 200 years and done so without a shot being fired.

Time 2 Escape WIFLI Briefing for Mar 28, 2012

Welcome to this edition of Time 2 Escape WIFLI Brief!

What is WIFLI?
You may be wondering what the acronym "WIFLI" means. I started out by calling these issues the Time 2 Escape Daily, but that didn't work out very well. I quickly learned that putting these issues together on a daily basis was a task I was unable to accomplish. To replace "Daily" in the title, I borrowed the acronym WIFLI, which literally means "When I Feel Like It." Putting together a post on this blog WIFLI works much better for my schedule, and for the higher quality of each issue that is eventually published!

FAIR USE NOTICE: This edition of the Time 2 Escape WIFLI Briefing may contain copyrighted material. Such material is made available for educational purposes only. This constitutes a 'fair use' of any such copyrighted material as provided for in Title 17 U.S.C. section 106A-117 of the U.S. Copyright Law.

No, I'm not gone yet.  I'm not done yet.

The government hasn't come to take me away, ...yet.

There is an advantage to being just one little citizen journalist, too tiny to see, able to fly under the radar...so far.

I open this briefing with the above words, because I am wondering how long it may be that I have the opportunity to keep paying it forward for the liberty of our children and grandchildren.

No, I had a slight physical affliction that affected my productivity in the last two weeks, and will soon have another medical procedure done on me that will prevent me from doing much here in April (2012). I don't like it much when I can not perform up to the standards that I expect from myself.

I read an incredible edition of Ralph Marston's Daily Motivator during my "down time" that did keep my inspiration high, and at least kept me hoping for a quick recovery. I knew this was a quote that should be spread far and wide in order to keep the love of liberty going:

Most of the work of achievement is done when no one is paying attention. Those who achieve, do the work even though it is difficult, demanding, tedious and far from glamorous.

More often than not, even the most impressive results come from plenty of plain old, ordinary hard work. It’s not extraordinary talent that distinguishes achievers, but rather an extraordinary level of commitment to getting the work done.

~ Ralph Marston, Ordinary hard work, Tuesday, March 20, 2012
It was pretty much an exercise of torture for me, like water-boarding, when I knew that I had so much to say, but was physically unable to just do the ordinary, let alone, the extraordinary. But at least I was able to go through the motions by determining the content I wanted to include in this issue.

Just don't freak out when my next absence occurs in the first part of April 2012. It can't be helped, but I do believe that we will somehow endure another lengthy time of inactivity here on the Time 2 Escape blog. I will, however, have some of "my people" keeping me advised of what needs to be included in the next issue that you will see here. One of those friends has already contributed to this briefing, and I owe a lot of gratitude to that individual.

I also owe some fist bumps to the Anonymous person that wrote a comment on my previous blog post. I don't get a lot of comments here, but one that was written made a lot of sense. It may explain a lot about our culture. and what you will read in this post that Paul Harvey talked about, that we have a short attention span. If that's the case, folks, we're going to lose. We need to focus, even if we can only do just a little bit every day. Just keep in mind the wise words of Ralph Marston, that "the most impressive results come from plenty of plain old, ordinary hard work. It’s not extraordinary talent that distinguishes achievers, but rather an extraordinary level of commitment to getting the work done."

Sometimes, we have to just be happy to take one bite of the elephant at a time. It's a long process. The Commies (Progressives) took just a 100 years to accomplish their goals here in America.  I'm just sayin'...

The Vetting - Holder 1995: We Must 'Brainwash' People on Guns
From Breitbart.com ~ by Joel B. Pollak ~ Mar 18, 2012

Breitbart.com has uncovered video from 1995 of then-U.S. Attorney Eric Holder announcing a public campaign to "really brainwash people into thinking about guns in a vastly different way."

Holder was addressing the Woman's National Democratic Club. In his remarks, broadcast by CSPAN 2, he explained that he intended to use anti-smoking campaigns as his model to "change the hearts and minds of people in Washington, DC" about guns.

"What we need to do is change the way in which people think about guns, especially young people, and make it something that's not cool, that it's not acceptable, it's not hip to carry a gun anymore, in the way in which we changed our attitudes about cigarettes."

Holder added that he had asked advertising agencies in the nation's capital to assist by making anti-gun ads rather than commercials "that make me buy things that I don't really need." He had also approached local newspapers and television stations, he said, asking them to devote prime space and time, respectively, to his anti-gun campaign.

Holder's Brainwashing Against Guns Foreshadowed Operation Fast and Furious
From Breitbart.com ~ by Mary Chastain ~ Mar 19, 2012

Yesterday, Breitbart.com revealed exclusive video of then-U.S. Attorney Eric Holder speaking to the Woman’s National Democratic Club, stating that he wanted to “brainwash” people against gun ownership.

The video reveals Attorney General Holder’s early, consistent, and strident enthusiasm for gun control legislation. He wanted schools to talk about anti-gun propaganda “every day, every school, and every level."

ATTY GENERAL ERIC HOLDER
Operation Fast and Furious -- in which Holder’s Department of Justice (DOJ) smuggled guns illegally to Mexican drug cartels -- could finally have provided Holder the material for that anti-gun curriculum.

On December 7, 2011, CBS News investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson (who is the only one in the mainstream media faithfully reporting this story) shared documents proving that the motive behind Operation Fast & Furious was to implement harsher gun regulations.

Ms. Attkisson reported that Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) officials within the DOJ discussed using the illegal gun sales to justify “Demand Letter 3,” which would require some gun shops to report the sales of multiple rifles or long guns.

Each new revelation pushes Operation Fast and Furious up the chain of command and provides more evidence that it was to be used for more gun control.

The mainstream media tends to trickle out small bits of narrative as a story goes on. However, the first impression is the one that seems to prevail, just like when we meet new people. Our collective sentiment builds up to a point of no return, based on the initial elements of the story that we hear and see, over and over again.

But thanks to the new media - the citizen journalists - you will now find out more about a story which shatters the initial media spin of some kind of aggravated hate crime, where an innocent young black man was shot in cold blood because he was wearing a hoodie.

From this story: "Most media accounts of the story suggest Martin was walking down the street minding his own business when he was shot without provocation by Zimmerman." We learn, though, that it didn't really go down that way.  I'm just wondering now if the New Black Panthers will put a bounty on my head, too, for letting you know about this?

Witness counters Trayvon Martin media narrative
Says 17-year-old was beating Zimmerman before shooting
From WND ~ Published Saturday, Mar 24, 2012

Maybe George Zimmerman did act in self-defense when he shot and killed Trayvon Martin, whose death Feb. 26 in Sanford, Florida, has been the focus of a media and political circus that even included Barack Obama weighing in this week.

TRAYVON MARTIN
An eyewitness to the incident told police Martin was beating Zimmerman before he shot him.

Zimmerman had called 911 to report the suspicious activities of a youth in his neighborhood, telling the dispatcher that he was following Martin.

On the recording of another 911 call, repeated cries of “help” can be heard before the gunshot.

The witness, identified only as John, says those cries were made by Zimmerman who was on the ground being beaten by Martin.

“The guy on the bottom who had a red sweater on was yelling to me: ‘help, help … and I told him to stop and I was calling 911,” he said.

Executive-order panic: Martial law in U.S.?
White House quietly releases document that creates widespread worry
From WND ~ By Drew Zahn ~ Published Mar 18, 2012, at 5:13 PM

DREW ZAHN
The White House’s late-week release of an executive order has sent the online community into an uproar, worried that President Obama had secretly provided himself means to institute martial law in America.

In the common practice of dumping government documents on a Friday afternoon, just as the news cycle is wrapping up for the week – a move critics say allows the administration to avoid widespread coverage of embarrassing actions – the White House released an executive order on “National Defense Resources Preparedness.”

Filled with language about “government-owned equipment” and a “defense executive reserve,” among other vague statements, rumors began to spread that the executive order expanded the president’s power to do everything from seizing whole industries to drafting private armies.

A Canada Free Press article titled “Obama Executive Order: Peacetime Martial Law!” spread concerns of gasoline ration cards; while an Examiner article declared the order would “nationalize everything” and “allow for a civilian draft.” Facebook, email and Twitter were suddenly abuzz, and even the extremely popular Drudge Report posted a link to the White House release under the title “Martial Law? Obama Issues Executive Order.

But are the cries of martial law and expanding executive power justified?

Why The March 16th, 2012 White House Executive Order Is Different
From Patriots For America ~ By Ann Barnhardt ~ Posted by Twana Blevins on Mar 19, 2012 at 10:58am

ANN BARNHARDT
I’m getting really, really sick of these pundits and talking heads on the so-called “right” clucking their tongues at the unwashed masses and telling us that we’re crazy and paranoid to be the least bit concerned each and every time the Obama regime takes another stride toward totalitarianism. And it is EACH AND EVERY TIME.

Let me break it down for Ed Morrissey, and all of the other pundits in that social circle so that you can get your heads around this. We are concerned and even, dare I say it, panicked, because we can see the big picture of the Obama regime for what it is. We can take the totality of the dataset and draw not just a logical, reasoned conclusion, but a conclusion that is supported by centuries – nay millenia – of past precedent.

We are, as Patrick Henry put it, “willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it.”

Why is the 3/16/2012 Executive Order worthy of grave concern? Simply put, because of the man and the regime who issued it... [EMPHASIS MINE]

Why Fear Communism?
From The Patriot Update ~ By Victoria Jackson ~ Written on Mar 13, 2012

VICTORIA JACKSON

They used to say, “He is not a Communist!” Now they say, “What’s so wrong with Communism?”

I got this email from my 28 year old friend “Al” yesterday:
We aren’t living in the 1950’s anymore. Why is there a fear of the communist bogeyman? Isn’t creating and perpetuating this fear just another form of propaganda?
Obviously, this boy has been brainwashed. I was so frustrated a cartoon cyclone came out of my head and ears. Then I wrote him back:
We aren’t living in the 1950′s anymore…so, suddenly communism works?! Which country is it working in?! (I wanted to say ‘you idiot!’) North Korea, Russia, Cuba? Are people flocking there to live? Risking their lives on rafts to get there?
The liberal Miami Herald today had an article about tourists visiting Cuba. They hated to admit that the place is a falling apart poverty stricken mess. They didn’t use the “c” word of course to explain why it suddenly went bad when Castro took over. All they would offer was, “…There’s no way tourism alone can prop up a system so enfeebled by the weight of government bureaucracy, market controls and limits on personal freedoms.”

“…a system enfeebled by the weight of government bureaucracy, market controls and limits on personal freedoms…” sounds like the Obama administration.

28 year old – do you want America to look like Cuba? Than stop defending communism!

The “utopia” of communism killed 94 million, according to The Black Book of Communism.

... Finally, Trevor Loudon makes it simple. Why should young people hate communism?

OUTSIDE of the BOX

This is the part where I put it all together. I hope you have been paying close attention.

Paul Harvey, in 1965, tells you about what the evil soviet empire wanted to accomplish, and how they would accomplish their objective. This will be followed by a video that tells us how Saul Alinsky helped the goals along the way. Now, all you have to realize is that the President studied Alinsky's tactics. I think you'll see how so many pieces of the puzzle now fit together.

The prophetic words of Paul Harvey from 1965
From glennbeck.com ~ Wednesday, Mar 21, 2012 at 1:47 PM CDT

Glenn played some incredible audio this morning on the radio program of radio commentator Paul Harvey from 1965. Glenn knew Harvey, and described him as “absolutely inspired of God.”

Last night on GBTV, Glenn explained to viewers that America has crossed over into new territory. “The progressives, I believe, have realized their dream. They have taken those baby steps,” Glenn said. “It is time to stop studying progressives.

Glenn challenged those that don’t think the progressives have accomplished their goals to “listen to the prophetic words of radio commentator Paul Harvey.

The audio is of Paul Harvey explaining how he would destroy us [America] if he were Satan…
“If I were the devil, I wouldn’t be happy until I had seized the ripest apple on the tree—Thee. So I’d set about however necessary to take over the United States. I’d subvert the churches first—I would begin with a campaign of whispers. With the wisdom of a serpent, I would whisper to you as I whispered to Eve: “Do as you please.” “Do as you please.” To the young, I would whisper, “The Bible is a myth.” I would convince them that man created God instead of the other way around. I would confide that what is bad is good, and what is good is “square”. And the old, I would teach to pray. I would teach them to pray after me, ‘Our Father, which art in Washington…’

And then I’d get organized. I’d educate authors on how to lurid literature exciting, so that anything else would appear dull and uninteresting. I’d threaten TV with dirtier movies and vice versa. I’d pedal narcotics to whom I could. I’d sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction. I’d tranquilize the rest with pills.

If I were the devil I’d soon have families that war with themselves, churches that war that themselves, and nations that war with themselves; until each in its turn was consumed. And with promises of higher ratings I’d have mesmerizing media fanning the flame. If I were the devil I would encourage schools to refine young intellects, and neglect to discipline emotions—just let those run wild, until before you knew it, you’d have to have drug sniffing dogs and metal detectors at every schoolhouse door.

Within a decade I’d have prisons overflowing, I’d have judges promoting pornography—soon I could evict God from the courthouse, and then the schoolhouse, and then from the houses of Congress. And in His own churches I would substitute psychology for religion, and deify science. I would lure priests and pastors into misusing boys and girls, and church money. If I were the devil I’d make the symbols of Easter an egg and the symbol of Christmas a bottle.

If I were the devil I’d take from those, and who have, and give to those wanted until I had killed the incentive of the ambitious. What do you bet I could get whole states to promote gambling as the way to get rich? I would question against extremes and hard work, and Patriotism, and moral conduct. I would convince the young that marriage is old-fashioned, that swinging more fun, that what you see on the TV is the way to be. And thus I could undress you in public, and I could lure you into bed with diseases for which there is no cure. In other words, if I were to devil I’d keep on doing on what he’s doing. Paul Harvey, good day.”

“That is unbelievable,” Glenn said after listening to the audio.

More than two years ago in Technocracy, I wrote of the "culture of informing," a "tattletale nation of citizens suspiciously monitoring their fellow citizens' law-abiding behavior." I also characterized a then relatively newly elected President Obama, whom I referred to as our technology dictator, as a totalitarian who, among other things, wishes to control the Internet itself to stifle free speech and silence criticism. Especially interesting in light of my recent excoriation of James Hoffa for calls to violence among union members (and my denunciation of apologists trying, dishonestly, to dismiss Hoffa's agitation) was the fact that I referenced, in 2009, lib violence directed at silencing conservatives – all in the name of squelching what bug-eyed leftist Nancy Pelosi described as "un-American" dissent. Taken as a whole, the move by liberals to establish thoughtcrime, to criminalize dissenting political opinion, was and is nothing short of Orwellian in scope and intensity:
When Obama's transition website, Change.gov, can be retroactively scrubbed to remove all references to his confiscatory plans to disarm American citizens, Orwell's prediction of a revisionist state has already come true. When Obama can go on record as saying that he supports single-payer socialist medicine, then baldly lie and say he doesn't, Orwell's vision of a dishonest and double-speaking state is reality. When Homeland Security declares that almost all conservatives and libertarians in the country are domestic terrorists, Orwell's nightmare of a government making dissenters "unpersons" is only too real. When your pediatrician's office wants to know if you own any guns, Orwell's citizen spies are already poking through your trash and peeking in your windows.

When your president urges you to report to the government any citizens who dare to question his socialist schemes, asking you to send an email to flag @ whitehouse.gov, technology has ushered us into Orwell's past future, and we have all become Winston Smith.
When George W. Bush was in power and libs found their patriotism questioned for their demoralizing attacks on the missions undertaken by the United States military, Hillary Clinton famously screeched that she was "sick and tired" of such criticism. "We are Americans," she cawed, "and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration!" Under Bush, the libs successfully redefined "patriotism," at least in popular culture, as dissent. No longer was patriotism defined as support of one's nation and the expression of that support for your country's military efforts.

Our most dangerous enemy ~ By Robert Ringer

Roll your eyes if you wish, but do yourself a favor and stay alert for a possible drastic change in the American way of life as we continue to move briskly down the road to financial ruin. Do not be deluded into believing that America is immune to the same consequences that have destroyed so many other nations.

Having said this, I hasten to add that Barack Obama and his progressive allies are not our biggest threat. In fact, they would be as hapless as were Marx and Engels if it were not for the avarice of benefit-addicted voters who have no desire to compete in the free market for their livelihoods. With this in mind, I would argue that it isn't so much that people get the government they deserve. Rather, they get the government that reflects their own values. If a majority of Americans are willing to ignore the Constitution and demand that their transfer-of-wealth largess remain intact no matter how obvious the cataclysmic long-term consequences may be, they will vote for politicians they believe are most likely to keep the government redistribution-of-wealth machine well oiled and running.

When you read Robert's column, you may not think he is right - about YOU. However, Robert Ringer is absolutely correct about ALL of us being responsible for getting the government we deserve.

"Wait," you're thinking, "I've never voted for a Democrat in my life!" Maybe not, but has every Republican that has been in office turned out to be true Constitutional Conservatives? I think not!

Wait, I know, many great people I know are Democrats, some on the very liberal side of the spectrum. Are they the ones that Ringer was talking about? We could easily assume that is the case. However, that would be an assumption as seen through the proverbial rose-colored glasses. I really believe that the column was truly aimed at those of us that will settle for anyone with the Republican label... despite their progressive tendencies.

Do you want to know how I can tell a RINO from a true Constitutional Conservative? The natural behavior of a RINO (Republican In Name Only) has a tendency to believe in 1) Man-Caused Global Warming, and 2) Levying excessive taxes on tobacco sales, along with wanting to prevent private businesses from allowing smoking in their establishments, which is their personal property. Both of those tendencies display that they have no respect for our ability to choose the free market system (economics 101) in making our own decisions. That, to me, shows a neglect and disrespect for the Constitution that our Founding Fathers worked so hard on to make sure that we would be able to maintain our freedom.

And, guess what? The nanny-state Republican politicians (RINOs) exist on all levels of government, whether it be federal, state, or local. So, if you felt the need to vote for a local government official that wants to limit the freedoms of a smoker, you have empowered a politician to take control of your life, too! How long will it be before they tell you what can be included in a Happy Meal? Or before you are told how much exercise to get each day? What's next?

Believe me, the saga to maintain our freedom continues. Be very careful about who you support as a candidate for any office, whether it's federal, state, or local. Not all Republicans are actually all that Conservative.

Yes, Robert is right. Our enemies are really those without the courage to stay true to conservative values by being willing to vote for anyone that lacks the qualities we expect. That should be our message in the next few months before the nomination process begins. To amplify the message, let's take a look at the video below:

Video provided by perdiefilms on Jun 8, 2011

Seriously? I actually want to prove Robert Ringer wrong! I want us to look in the mirror, and know in our hearts that we are NOT the most dangerous enemy! Those of us that understand what is facing us will need to do our best to educate those who have not been paying attention. Oh, I know, that's not an easy task, but it is the prerequisite for getting to where this great country stays free. And, you would not believe how fired up people - that were formerly complacent - can be!

Really, our passion for freedom will defeat the most dangerous enemy, which is our complacency. I'm just sayin'...
Thus, instead of complaining about corrupt politicians, Americans need to take a good look in the mirror and start thinking long and hard about their own tainted morals, as well as what kind of nation they want to leave their children and grandchildren.

Our most dangerous enemy
ROBERT RINGER

By Robert Ringer

June 09, 2011 ~ 1:00 am Eastern

© 2011

While some conservative commentators are on the right side of most issues, they are careful to stay "in bounds." The last thing in the world any political pundit wants is to be seen as an extremist by his colleagues.

Recently, I watched a panel of think-tank experts debate how best to solve our country's fiscal problems. What caught my attention was that no one – not even the free-enterprise spokesmen from the conservative Heritage Foundation and the Free Enterprise Institute – so much as alluded to the unconstitutionality of any of the myriad government programs that have caused these problems.

What does this mean? Simply that the far left in this country has, for all practical purposes, already succeeded in fundamentally transforming America, regardless of who the next president is. The problem is that even though many conservatives are experts when it comes to debating the factual side of fiscal issues, they seem to accept, by default, the false premise that government transfer-of-wealth programs are constitutional.

At least one motivating force behind this sad situation is pragmatism. For example, both Dick Morris and Donald Trump have opined that Republicans are committing suicide with Paul Ryan's proposed plan to overhaul Medicare. And they could very well be right.

Morris is a strategy genius when it comes to elections, so it's no surprise that his opinion is based on what he believes is necessary to win the next election. I get it.

But if conservatives fear that Ryan's addressing the single biggest fiscal problem facing the U.S. will result in re-electing a Marxist president, it tells you a lot about the decline of America as a virtuous nation. More to the point, it means that a majority of voters are so addicted to our redistribution-of-wealth culture that they will vote against anyone who dares to threaten that culture.

Thus, the question of constitutionality increasingly appears to be off the table when it comes to debating major fiscal issues such as the deficit, the debt ceiling, unfunded Medicare and Social Security liabilities, and redistribution-of-wealth programs ranging from unemployment benefits to food stamps.

Communism's rebirth – at our expense ~ By Barry Farber

Why, now, is Communism "OK"? One myth that flickered underneath all the horrid history about Communism was that, even though the Communist system allowed no opportunity, it likewise gave you free or very low rent. Medicine was free. Education was free. Get it? No bankruptcies. No foreclosures. No debt. When you tell an American how much was "free," he assumes it was at or near his accustomed level. If you find the "entitlements" of Communism seductive, I want to reach through your monitor and grab you by the collar and shake you. The "expense-free" Communist subject had a miserable quality of life.

But, now that the atrocities of Communism are fading from the American memory, the promises of Communism sound rather interesting in a bad American economy. All I'm promising is that Communism is the world's biggest consumer fraud.

A Communist is someone who cannot see a fat man standing beside a thin man without concluding the fat man got that way at the expense of the thin man.

If Americans ever quit hating Communism, we'll quit hating the "give-aways" first.

Barry Farber does a great job to explain what Communism should be held accountable for in the 20th Century. And, he reminds us what can happen when people forget. Honestly, I have to wonder what could possibly have shoved all of the bad memories of what Communist nations did to their people down the memory hole. The media? Educators? Government propaganda? Hope and change?

I challenge anyone to show me where Communism has ever worked. In fact, show me where any Communist country has ever gone without committing genocide in order to gain and keep power!

Thank you, Barry Farber, for writing this column! It is about time that somebody plugged the memory hole, and pulled some of the grim memories, that never should be forgotten, out of that abyss. And thank you again for reminding us that liberals are leading us to that memory hole by helping us to quit hating entitlements and class envy first.

And guess what? While we still have the freedom to write about it, now is the time to work on keeping too many people from falling into the bottomless memory hole. It could be our last chance. But, hey, I understand if you want to stay silent. We all know who's doors would be knocked down first should we be on the losing side. I'm just sayin'...

The cartoon showed two 6-year-old boys sitting on a fence admiring a 5-year-old girl, nose in the air, perky and cute as a speckled puppy under a red wagon. "If I ever quit hating girls," said one of the boys, "I'm going to quit hating HER first!"

Communism is out of the closet, out on the American street under its own name and doing its best to be heard and heeded. This is the second time American Communists have been comfortable preaching, parading and plotting without hiding behind front groups shouting "Peace" and "Equality" and pretending their real name and aim is something like "Milk for Bulgarian Babies." Before World War II, being a Communist was fashionable. It made you a kind of automatic moral giant. Journalist Lincoln Steffens returned to America from the brand-new Soviet Union and declared, "I have seen the future, and it works!"

Why this, and why now? Authentic American hero Dave Bego, who defied and defeated the efforts of the all-powerful Service Employees International Union (SEIU) to bludgeon him into accepting unionization of his industrial cleaning company, Executive Management Services, sent me a literally unbelievable "picture show" of a joint SEIU and Communist Party rally in Los Angeles in which the union members carried Communist flags and the marching Communists carried union signs.

All of the joy and prestige of being a Communist vanished shortly after the Americans and British, with our Soviet allies, destroyed Nazi Germany. The true face of Communism became abruptly plain. Territory conquered by Allied troops was liberated. That conquered by the Communists was enslaved. The Berlin Blockade was a shameless Soviet abrogation of our agreements.

The Iron Curtain descended across Europe. The Nazi "knock-on-the-door" followed by the permanent disappearance of those inside, the torture chambers, the total repression of all freedoms, life sentences in the Gulag for the crime of listening to foreign broadcasts, the works – really the whole Nazi works – unfolded. It's true, opportunistic American politicians demagogued Communism for votes, but they did more service to America than those demagoguing Paul Ryan's attempt to reform entitlements today.

Leftists' horrible paradox ~ By Phil Elmore

The horrible irony, the wry paradox here, is that Bob, if he had his way, would cut his own throat. He would cease to be in his ardent desire to see Fox News, Big Evil Corporations and Technocracy silenced. If the libs succeed in using events like the Arizona shooting to their advantage, they will eventually destroy both sides. It is a fact of the peculiar self-destructive nature of leftists that they do not see this and cannot think it through.

If the liberals can mischaracterize dissent as threats and opposition as hostile action, they can silence all debate in the name of keeping peace – even as they abuse you with politically correct power. They'll go on ramming their filthy ideology down our throats while ignoring the will of the American people – and they'll do it all while remaining blithely, blissfully unaware of what they've wrought. The progressives' would-be journalists and free thinkers will be the second group put against the wall by a totalitarian regime. It will be cold comfort to them then that you and I were stood there first.
There are many Americans that do not understand why Sheriff Dupnik's comments about "vitriolic political rhetoric" is a great danger to all of us. Those people need to read this column. Phil explains that the liberals are unknowingly digging their own graves should they be able to silence dissent.

Mr. Carson is the host of what he describes, perhaps somewhat whimsically, as "New Jersey's only FM progressive radio show." Claiming that "some have compared Bob to Ed Schultz" (although the only person I've yet identified making this comparison is Bob himself), Mr. Carson is an example of the type of pundit empowered by the Internet. If not for the network of networks we call the World Wide Web, I would never have heard of Bob, nor would I know what he thinks about a given political issue. This is, despite the revolting and insulting nature of Mr. Carson's rhetoric, a good thing.

Carson describes what he does as an "independent radio show ... as a grass-roots, low-budget radio show. We're proud of that. I am." To call "Carson's Corner" – the name applied to Bob's political commentary and to the show he does in which he gives his news and views on the sport of mixed martial arts – a "radio show" might perhaps be a bit too generous for someone who is primarily a podcaster; Bob is heard once a week on the college radio station of Rider University. Bob nonetheless describes himself as "a warrior in the fight against right-wing/corporate propaganda."

Carson blames a culture of "individual achievement" for the lack of "society" – which, when spoken by an avowed progressive, is a communist's way of saying that individuals' insistence on their individual rights and sovereignty are bad, while community appeals to government authority in the name of the common good are, well, good. Bob says a lack of society has caused economic hardship, and this hardship has caused someone to rifle through his mailbox. The Republicans, he believes, are to blame. On Dec. 28, he said:
That's what it's going to come down to. If you don't pay a premium to the fire department or a premium to the police department, they're going to let your house burn down, or they're going to let you die in the streets due to a gunshot wound or whatever. … This is what corporate America, this is what the right wing has instilled upon us.
Carson derides journalists and members of the media as having no objectivity. He blames "right-wing editors" for the failure of modern journalists to get to "the truth." That's why, he says, "it's so important to support guys like myself, you know, independent media guys. … The corporations are cracking down on independent media sites."

Totalitarians in our midst ~ By Erik Rush

Tonight, it was Erik's turn to scare the heck out of us. He was on fire when he wrote this one!

In the last week or two, I have read several columns by various well-known writers, along with hearing what Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck have talking about. Is is just me? Does anyone else hear what I am hearing? Heaven forbid, if the assorted pundits are correct, it sounds to me like we have a government that is so out of control, that the possibility of having a tyrannical government is on our doorstep... and there really doesn't seem to be much we can do about it. Sure, we can write, and we can talk about it, but even those rights seem to be dwindling away - at least if certain people in the government do what they seem to be threatening to do.

Erik concludes this column by saying, "I'll leave it to the reader to determine why they desire all that power..." Well, as you can see from this intro, I think that I am well on my way to determining what is going on. I have been for awhile, and I am not seeing anything that is going to relieve my anxiety.

In a free society, citizens can criticize the government, but the radicals who are currently executing a quiet coup in our nation's capital don't believe in a free society. So, Congress and the Obama administration need to shut us up.

But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao, you ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow.

– The Beatles, "Revolution," 1968
Even John Lennon, primary author of the Beatles' "Revolution," lefty though he was, knew that China's Chairman Mao Zedong was not someone to be lionized. After all, he had murdered millions of his own people.

That, as they say, was then; now, it is no longer objectionable for an American – say, the president – as well as his colleagues and hirelings, to embrace such villains. In fact, whether it is objectionable or not has become academic; we're not even supposed to talk about it.

Are you reminded of anything in particular by our current government's practice of ruthlessly assailing any and all who criticize it, resulting in people's reluctance to speak out against same? If so, does this alarm or even frighten you?

It damn well should …

Recently, progressive operatives (members of Congress, activists, the establishment press and other far-left elites) have cautioned that those who oppose the Obama administration's policies (the tea-party activists foremost among them) are creating a climate that has the potential to give rise to violence and even domestic terrorism. The admonitions are patently absurd, but these parties are banking on believers in their cause and less-informed Americans who can't or won't investigate the accusations to determine their veracity. They have charged talk radio and other conservative media similarly, and have even floated the concept of regulating the Internet.

All of this is calculated to silence those who disagree with them – nothing less. From the baseless allegations of hostile tendencies and designs, to their reflexive, non sequitur accusations of racism and homophobia, these tactics are the stuff of totalitarian regimes, not representative republics.

Last week, at a symposium commemorating the 15th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing, former President Bill Clinton presaged that the anger and resentment evidenced by members of the tea-party movement might foment the kind of right-wing extremism that resulted in the 1995 bombing. His statements might be called grossly irresponsible were he simply ignorant, but that's not the case; Clinton deliberately engaged in propaganda, capitalizing upon his dubious credibility to legitimize the above claims.

If those on the right who would advocate violence and those who support Congress' and the Obama administration's policies are on opposing political fringes (a fair assessment, if you ask me), then the tea-party activists are, if anything, the voice of reason. Yet, these peaceful and (ideologically) well-grounded citizens are being demonized like the Ku Klux Klan, neo-Nazis and violent militias.

So, why are progressives intimating that the opposition might resort to violence?
  • Because the left are masters of projection (accusing enemies of engaging in nefarious activities in which oneself is engaged). It is they who are inherently belligerent. It bears mentioning that the left is the side that advocated for the violent overthrow of our government 40 years ago; Obama's pal Bill Ayers even bombed some buildings toward that end, and Obama himself has proposed forming "a civilian national-security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded" as our military.
  • Those on the left realize, relative to the spirit of America's founding values, that their actions to date might arguably merit an armed uprising. Were the tea-party activists as committed as Revolutionary War–era Minutemen, they would have laid siege to the Capitol and the White House months ago, rather than holding peaceful rallies.

In this climate of progressives leveling these wild accusations and extrapolating others' statements to their most bizarre conclusions, I find it prudent at this time to assert that I am not advocating armed rebellion against our current government.

When technology enables despotism ~ By Phil Elmore

Phil Elmore provides us with a look at how technology could lead to totalitarianism.
In a free society, energy use is controlled through price. Those who can afford to use more energy pay more to do so in a voluntary exchange of value. When we empower our government to control our energy use based on politically correct "green" ideology, we turn away from liberty and toward collectivism. We turn our backs on capitalism and embrace socialism. When it is used in this manner, morally neutral technology becomes morally wrong totalitarianism.

What does your electric bill have to do with your car's wireless phone? The answer is, nothing, unless both are monitored and controlled by your government.

Back in 2008, we discussed in Technocracy the disturbing potential for Big Brother to invade your automobile using telematics services like OnStar®:
The fully equipped, wireless-enabled, GPS-tracked vehicle allows the user to make hands-free phone calls – at the cost of potential recording of the calls themselves, or the tracking of the called numbers. Such a vehicle allows the user to receive turn-by-turn directions – at the cost of having that driver's GPS-satellite-tracked location transmitted to a server at all times. The automobile makes it possible for the operator to call in and have slowed and stopped a stolen vehicle – at the cost of turning the key in a vehicle that suddenly will not start, should the government determine that a state of emergency exists and that "no unnecessary travel" should be the order of the day for the duration of the crisis. While sitting in that temporarily useless vehicle, the owner could comfort himself by surfing the Internet – at the cost of having every site he visits tracked and cataloged, while the owners of this particular Internet portal determine which sites they will block as violating their internally defined terms of service.
It didn't take long for our concerns to be realized. In Austin, Texas, a man described as a "hacker" disabled over a hundred cars remotely using the Internet. The cars were equipped with something called "Webtech Plus," which turns off the cars or makes their horns honk if the owners fall behind on their payments. The "hacker" was, in fact, a former employee, who simply used his knowledge of the system to enter and misuse it. (Translation: The managers who laid him off probably didn't bother to make sure he couldn't get back into the system.)

Now picture a disgruntled former employee shutting off the electricity to your home. While you're doing that, picture your government forcing your family to swelter in the heat of a house whose air-conditioning has been remotely disabled because your state's "smart grid" is being managed to reduce peak usage.

The Wall Street Journal reported in April of last year that utilities were "spending billions of dollars outfitting homes and businesses" with so-called "smart meters," devices that send information wirelessly back to the utility and which can (at the very least) potentially be used to control energy use. The concept of these "smart meters" makes perfect sense from the utility's standpoint; when managing an energy grid, those doing the managing naturally drool at the prospect of being able to control usage at the other end in order to maintain the flow of energy to the grid as a whole.

Beyond the potential costs to consumers of installing and using such devices, however, is the fact that placing such monitoring devices in homes and businesses allows the utilities – which are essentially government-sanctioned monopolies and thus themselves arms of government – to dictate to customers how much energy they use. In a free market, customers who wish to use more energy simply pay more for it. In the future dystopia envisioned by acolytes of the new "green" religion, customers who wish to use more energy ... will be prevented from doing so by the electronic devices governing their furnaces, air conditioners and electric outlets.

By November of 2009, CNET was reporting on a new forecast predicting that 250 million "smart" utility meters will be installed in homes and businesses over the next six years. In that report, author Martin LaMonica cited the forecast in stating ominously, "the push to smart meters is global, driven by government interest in energy efficiency."

The political spectrum 101 ~ By Joseph Farah

Commentary from WorldNetDaily
One of the reasons America is moving toward fascism today is because it has lost its constitutional moorings. We're supposed to believe in limited government in the United States. The federal powers are enumerated in the Constitution. But, in recent years, Washington has far exceeded its authority. And very few politicians – Democrats or Republicans – seem to give a darn.

So, maybe you ask, who's in the middle of the political spectrum?

The Founding Fathers were.

There's much confusion about the meaning of left and right in America today.

The confusion is, ironically, on both the left and the right.

I witnessed this most recently in commentaries and news reports about the riots at the Vancouver Olympics.

Those participating in the riots most frequently describe themselves as "anarchists."

So let's start with proponents of "anarchy." Where do they fall on the left-right political spectrum?

As proponents of no government, they would fall on the extreme right.

A true anarchist would be as far to the right as you can get on the political spectrum. Just to the left of anarchists would be libertarians, who acknowledge there is a role for government but want it strictly limited. Those we call "conservatives" might be just to the left of the libertarians.

Over on the other side of the political spectrum, the left side, would be those who want government to have totalitarian control. These would be hard-core Stalinists and communists.

Just to the right of them, but still way over on the left side of the spectrum, would be fascists, those who are still totalitarians, but don't insist that government own all the means of production. Fascists are content to control the means of production.

Just to the right of these folks are those in our society who call for a "mixed economy" in line with the European model. You could also call it "soft socialism."

In other words, what truly defines the political spectrum is attitude toward the proper role of government.

How does this model differentiate from the general misconceptions we hear so frequently?

First of all, fascism is often portrayed as a "right-wing" ideology, when, in fact, it is far left. Fascism and communism are ideological kissing cousins. That's how close they are on the political spectrum and in their way of governance.

In fact, I would say that fascists are often mistakenly called communists. Take a look at China today and it is not by any stretch of the imagination communist. It is fascist. Even though most people who think of themselves as "left" would tell you they detest fascism, in practice, they often have not.

Mussolini was beloved by the left and practically defined fascism. Hitler was embraced by the Communist Soviet Union, until he betrayed Stalin's non-aggression pact. Hollywood Communists led the "peace movement" in the U.S. and fought involvement in the European war until Hitler betrayed Stalin. Then, overnight, they became war mongers.

Secondly, anarchists are often descried as left-wingers, when in fact they are on the extreme right of the political spectrum. Again, the political spectrum, if it is to make any sense at all, should be based on attitude toward government.

Because of these misconceptions, many Americans are missing the real political threat facing our country. It's not from communism, but it is from another form of socialism – fascism.
