You know that President Obama wants the power to switch off the Internet should he find it necessary to silence the American people. You know that President Obama wants his face before your children's eyes, and yours, at every hour of the day. You know that President Obama is an arrogant, brittle, would-be totalitarian who cannot abide criticism and who believes he and his liberal ilk are better capable than you to run your life.
What you don't know is that you've already lost.
With perhaps less press than was warranted by such a move, Obama's federal government announced some time ago a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS). It happened yesterday afternoon, at a time guaranteed to get your attention. A test of this type could easily occur in the very early morning, when few are likely to notice. This test, by contrast, was prominent and unmistakable. It was the first test of its kind ever conducted.
At 2 p.m. EST yesterday, an AM radio sitting next to a television equipped with satellite "cable" produced, in less than perfect synchronization, the EAS test on many (but not all) of the channels available. Some stations were not affected at all; others dutifully produced a test message. At least one channel appeared to carry the test for longer than the others. The effect, overall, was underwhelming.
"A more effective and functional EAS requires continual testing to identify necessary improvements so that all levels of the system can better serve our communities and deliver critical information that will save lives and property," explains FEMA's website. "… EAS Participants include all broadcasters, satellite and digital radio and television, cable television and wireline video providers who ensure the system is at a constant state of readiness."

Editor's note: Listen to this column online.
The political dilemma is not that surprising. Politicians can be expected to give special favors to their major contributors. Rarely are these political rewards so brazen, or so costly, as the $535 million loan guarantee given to the company whose major investor just happened to be George Kaiser, a major fundraiser for President Obama. Even more scandalous, was the loan restructuring agreed to by the Obama administration, which subordinated repayment to the federal government in favor of repayment of Kaiser's personal investment in Solyndra.READ MORE on WND.com
A credit review panel in the Bush administration ruled unanimously against granting this loan. A similar review panel in Obama's administration predicted that Solyndra would go belly-up by September 2011. Nevertheless, the Obama administration decided to grant the loan guarantee and make a spectacle of the event to promote Obama's new "green" economy.
Politically, this deal stinks to high heaven.
Political hanky-panky is the least of the Solyndra dilemma; the real dilemma is the reason behind Solyndra's failure.
The cold hard fact is that China can produce solar panels, and everything else for that matter, for a cost far less than competing products can be produced in the United States. The question is "why?" The answer is easy.
By Phil Elmore Posted: September 03, 2009 ~ 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 When Declan McCullagh's piece in CNET News sounded the dire warning, "Bill would give president emergency control of Internet," it wasn't a surprise to readers of Technocracy. Back in April, we warned you of Obama's incipient Internet Tyranny, and since then these pages have several times sounded the clarion call concerning Barack Hussein Obama's leftist totalitarianism. The Obama administration grows more brazen with each passing day, and the radical leftists, racists and Marxists with whom Obama surrounds himself no longer feel they must hide their ideologies. The administration that urged citizens to inform on their fellow Americans for thought crimes, for daring to question Obama's attempt to nationalize the health-care industry (while lying to you about the cost, about the impact on your health-care choices and about Obama's own intentions for the plan), has continued its inexorable march toward an American police state, grinning broadly into the television cameras while gesturing sharply for the apprehension and public shaming of all who would question Obama's might. Our brittle, oversensitive president cannot abide criticism, you see; a clown face on a posted bill or on a T-shirt sets him and his supporters to grinding their teeth over imagined racism, while his minions dream up ever more "code words" to place on the contraindicated speech lists. Every word and deed taken by the administration is an attempt both to strengthen its breathtaking power grabs and to silence any opposition to those actions, shutting down its critics directly or condemning those critics in the court of public opinion. If you can wrongly redefine your political opposition as racist, as terrorists, as dangerous, why, you can easily marginalize any and all dissent – and then crush it with naked force while claiming you're merely keeping the populace safe. This is the drive behind redefining all of Obama's opponents as domestic terrorists, and this is why any left standing are declared to be racist hatemongers who simply don't like Obama because he happens to be black. Officer to protester: This ain't America no more Posted: August 28, 2009 ~ 10:57 pm Eastern By Drew Zahn © 2009 WorldNetDaily Editor's note: Earlier reports that Officer Wesley Cheeks Jr. is a police officer were in error. Further investigation has revealed Officer Cheeks is a member of the Fairfax County Public Schools' trained School Security Officer team. To contact the school's security force, e-mail Fred Ellis, the director of safety and security for Fairfax County Public Schools, or Jim McLain, the security coordinator.Video of the exchange can be seen below: Video courtesy of DissentFromDayOne on youtube.comThis used to be America," argued a protester outside a health-care town hall meeting in Reston, Va., after a security officer threatened him with arrest for holding up a sign with a picture critical of Barack Obama. The officer's response? "It ain't no more, OK?" A video of the town hall held earlier this week by Rep. Jim Moran, D-Va., shows an unnamed protester standing on school grounds carrying a sign that read "Organizing for National Socialist Health Care – The Final Solution" and depicted Barack Obama in the Joker's makeup. Officer Wesley Cheeks Jr. then told the protester that even though others were holding signs, his sign was unacceptable because of the depiction of Obama. "But you got this with a picture," Cheeks said, explaining why the protester was being singled out from the others. "That's the difference. This has got a picture on it. That don't have a picture on it. "Sir, leave the picture down," the officer said. "If you put the picture back up, you'll be charged with trespassing." [CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING ENTIRE COLUMN]
There is one more part of Patrice's column that I want you to pay close attention to:By Patrice Lewis Posted: July 18, 2009 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 Woe to you when all men speak well of you. – Luke 6:26 It's funny how things coincide sometimes. This past Sunday, our pastor delivered a riveting sermon. In his gentle voice, he spoke about perfecting the art of giving offense. Yes really. In discussing the text of Mark 6:14-29, he encouraged us to adopt a "sanctified indifference" in which we should be unconcerned about the consequences of telling the truth. John the Baptist wasn't afraid to tell Herod the truth, despite the very real danger. "One of the great problems in the church today is that we are missing that 'sanctified indifference' – the willingness to unashamedly call a spade a spade," our pastor said. "As Christians, we have a moral obligation to talk the talk and then walk the walk." The reason I found this sermon so timely was because the same day a reader sent me equally riveting words by Charlton Heston. I've read them before, but coming as they did on the heels of the sermon, they struck me anew with their force. "Political correctness is tyranny with manners," Heston accurately observed. Because WND and other independent news sites are not in the pockets of the mainstream media on any level – philosophically, morally, ethically, religiously, whatever-ly – they are moving targets for people who prefer to work by character assassination rather than logical debate. It's well-known that when liberals start to lose an argument, they start attacking personally. (Trust me on this.) Character assassination hurts. It's dirty, it's unfair, it's a shameful fighting technique, and it's wildly popular among the elite. That's why most people are reluctant to expose themselves to it, and instead choose to be silent. "If you talk about race," said Charton Heston in his speech, "it does not make you a racist. If you see distinctions between the genders, it does not make you sexist. If you think critically about a denomination, it does not make you anti-religion. If you accept but don't celebrate homosexuality, it does not make you a homophobe." Yet those types of accusations – all of them ugly and painful to receive – are the very epithets hurled at anyone who dares to speak his mind counter to the standard mainstream media dribble. The accusation of "racism" is a favorite, used as a last line of defense when a liberal is losing an argument. And the worst thing about being labeled a racist, notes Burt Prelutsky, is that denying it gets you nowhere. And that's been the most efficient and successful techniques the left has implemented in its culture war. Throughout history, in places that have descended into socialism and fascism and Marxism, the first thing the "agents of change" did was identified and then silenced the critics. (Fairness Doctrine, anyone?) One method is to use a government-backed media to assassinate the character of those who speak up. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting we go looking for trouble. We don't necessarily have to be blatant, obnoxious, or in-your-face about our opinions. But we do have to be persistent, consistent and unsilenced. "God doesn't permit us to intentionally go out and pick a fight with those who don't see things the way we do," said our pastor. "But He does expect us to 'speak the truth in love.' And if that offends someone – tough, but I still love you!" Being a small fish, I doubt I'm on the radar screen of the mainstream media, thank God. But the words I write are fightin' words to some who disagree. And the fight won't be a clean one, either. It will be a dirty character assassination. I know perfectly well I'm leaving myself open to accusations of "isms" galore. (At least I have a blog and can print the best snarks for everyone to enjoy.) It annoys the heck out of the elite media that they can't shut down the conservative, alternative media in order to continue with their insidious culture war without interference. The alternative media have an exasperating tendency to unite conservative thinkers and let them know they're not alone. [CONTINUE READING]
For me, I've reached that point where silence is no longer an option. It's scary at times to speak my mind, but it's scarier to remain silent. It's scarier still to imagine a world in which all of us, myself included, are forced to remain silent. That's why I figure I'd better speak up while I can. So should you. Speaking up may not win you friends among the elite, as Jesus discovered. But you never know who you may influence as a result.Amen, Patrice, Amen! Regulations 'nothing more than a desire to silence political opposition' Talk radio icon Michael Savage is joining forces with a Michigan-based civil rights advocacy organization to protect free speech by fighting the return of the so-called "Fairness Doctrine." "A regulation of speech motivated by nothing more than a desire to silence political opposition on controversial issues of public interest is the purest example of a law abridging the freedom of speech," said Richard Thompson, president and chief counsel of the Thomas More Law Center. "Such action is the hallmark of totalitarian governments, not a free society," he said. [Continue reading]digg story, submitted by Temlakos
