To save America, 1st vote the Dems out ~ By Alan Keyes

In one his best columns, Alan Keyes brings up some points that we need to be aware of and then remember this November.

First, we don't dare set ourselves up for disappointment. Regardless of how many seats the Republicans take back in the House and Senate, even if it was possible to get the majority in the Senate, it would be virtually impossible to gain enough seats to be able to override vetoes of any bills that repeal what Obama and his minions have done so far. As Alan wrote, "Even if opponents of the Obama faction's totalitarian health takeover scheme cobble together a clear congressional majority, any repeal legislation would certainly be vetoed by the present occupant of the White House."

And second, keep in mind that the lame duck Congress will do their best to ram through all the Progressive/Marxist agenda that they can before the end of the year and their terms. In other words, as Alan says, just concentrate on defeating as many of the leftist Democrats as possible this Fall. We will hopefully get many Constitutional Conservatives in, and Progressives out.

And in the meantime, while it looks good for Republicans to take back the House and close the gap considerably in the Senate this Fall, we must not let up. I'll guarantee that Obama and his minions will push back very strongly in the remaining time before the election. They will use every trick in the book, including blatant lies through their state-controlled propaganda machine (the mainstream media), and possibly do some cheating in the election as much as possible (via ACORN). Don't let up! Just sayin'...

I fully realize that some of the alternative candidates will in one way or another be Obama faction fellow travelers, Republicans or conservatives in name only, deeply sympathetic to the anti-American stands Obama cohorts take in favor of lax border security, amnesty for illegals and government-controlled access to health care. I fully realize that all too many openly or covertly accept the unprincipled abandonment of the ideas of unalienable, God-given right on which constitutional, democratic self-government is based.

But if in November voters send the Democrats packing in a big way, as a matter of fact and perception the result will seriously limit the ability of the socialist fellow travelers to advocate and pursue their agenda. For a while, at least, they will be politically fearful and constrained. The likely Republican majority that results from such an outcome will be under the gun strenuously to push back against the Obama faction's subversive agenda. If they fail to do so, the naked truth about the sham two-party system will become starkly, incontrovertibly clear...

A solid majority of Americans appear to be reaching conclusions that reject the web of lies, suppression of facts and wishful thinking that subverted the 2008 election. They are realizing that this subversion process handed power over the U.S. government to a gaggle of committed, anti-American Marxists bent on overturning government of, by and for the people, to establish a factional party dictatorship with virtually unlimited sway over all the key political, economic and social aspects of American life.

From health care to jobs, from housing to energy, Obama and his faction beguiled many Americans with promises of good things for all people. Under the enlightened hand of the Obama faction, the U.S. government would offer everyone access to a new and improved health-care system, along with the job of their dreams and the home of their dearest aspirations. Electing the first "black" president, America would forever transcend its bitter and divisive racial past. We would move beyond group divisions, beyond even the narrow vision of merely national identity.

Not as prideful Americans, but as self-esteeming human beings we would accept a new identity as citizens of the world. We would forego our false ambition of world leadership to welcome our equal place in a conclave of humanity. We would abandon the false ideas of American exceptionalism that in the past impelled us to such misguided crimes against humanity as the war in Vietnam or the overthrow of Saddam Hussein in Iraq. We would learn to look past the episodes of manmade disaster (no longer called terrorism) produced by the understandably violent reaction against our misdeeds, in order to respect and placate the otherwise historically peace-loving people of the Islamic world.

With the self-righteous arrogance almost uniformly characteristic of those who see themselves at the forefront of history, Obama and his factional cohorts continue to hawk these wares. But the looming facts of debt, decline and devolution have lifted the veil of well-intentioned wishful thinking that for a time clouded the minds of the Americans who provided the Obama faction its winning edge in 2008.

More and more people every day question the suppression of facts about Obama's background; reject the embrace of totalitarian government implied in such things as his faction's scheme to establish U.S. government control of access to health care; decry the evidence of self-serving racial preference in the Obama clique's administration of justice; and discern the agenda for unlimited power that drives every proposal, every appointment and every action it takes. More and more people have begun to consider or share in the suspicion that mishandling of the nation's finances, the costly procrastination in response to the gulf oil-spill disaster and record U.S. casualties in Afghanistan aren't the result of inexperience and incompetence. They are the natural fruit of lifelong hostility toward the ideas and moral principles that have forged the historic success whereby the very existence of the United States refutes the Marxist delusion. More and more people are looking at the Obama faction, its tools and fellow travelers and what they see is haunted by the yet unspoken thought "We have met the enemy, and it is they."

As a result, many people eagerly anticipate the opportunity offered by the periodic elections that are a key feature of the Constitution the Obama people love to hate. They greet with satisfaction reports that so-called Obamacare might be challenged and even repealed before next November. I understand how they feel. But the reality implied by the provisions of the Constitution militates against such a possibility. Even if opponents of the Obama faction's totalitarian health takeover scheme cobble together a clear congressional majority, any repeal legislation would certainly be vetoed by the present occupant of the White House.

That situation will be true with respect to every piece of legislation the Obama faction manages to pass (or deems to have passed), even in the lame duck session of Congress that follows the November election. Americans convinced that the Obama faction's Marxist juggernaut must be stopped need to consider this fact very carefully. I believe it has an inescapable political implication for anyone sincerely committed to that objective. There is only one outcome in November that can stay the hands now at work to destroy the American way of life. It will not be enough to cut back the Democratic Party's congressional delegation. The Democrats have proven to be the eager tools of the Obama faction's Marxist takeover. To save the American way of life, the Democrats must cease to be a significant presence in the Senate and the House. The forces that oppose the totalitarian socialist subversion of the republic need a veto-proof majority in both Houses of Congress.

Obviously, Obama didn't think he had enough "czars." Now we have the "Senior Policy Adviser for Healthy Food Initiatives" by the name of Sam Kass, formerly a Windy City gourmet cook.

Family chef elevated to post as 'senior policy adviser'

You've seen the reports about Van Jones, President Obama's onetime "green jobs czar," and Cass Sunstein, his equally volatile "regulatory czar," and Fox News show host Glenn Beck has put together a list of dozens of such appointees.

Now THIS is health food!

Now here's the newest White House promotion: "Health food czar" Sam Kass.

"In a comical move even for a czar-happy president who has rewarded dozens of cronies with distinguished titles, the White House has named the Obamas' personal Chicago cook as 'Senior Policy Adviser for Healthy Food Initiatives,'" reports the Washington government watchdog Judicial Watch.

"It's no joke, even though it sounds like a bad one. The Chicago chef's rapid ascension ... has been kept under the radar for the last month," Judicial Watch said.

"Sam Kass went from being a 20-something, Windy City gourmet cook – privately paid by the Obamas to feed them – to big-time White House adviser in a matter of months," the report said.

But it makes sense, the report said, since Michelle Obama has claimed that childhood obesity is a threat to "national security."

According to an earlier CNSNews.com report, Michelle Obama confirmed – in talking about her White House campaign against obesity – that the condition "impacts national security" because it is a "disqualifier for military service."

Judicial Watch said the situation is so dire, President Obama has been convinced to spend $400 million a year on "healthy foods" in low-income neighborhoods as well as revise – at a cost of $10 billion – a federal plan to provide food to poor children in school.

Such an assembly of programs "no doubt requires a trusted senior policy adviser – like Kass – who is an expert in healthy cuisine," Judicial Watch said.

NAACP, media owe tea party apology ~ By Jack Cashill

Jack Cashill picks apart the column written by William Douglas of the McClatchy Papers, with this headline: "Tea-party protesters scream 'nigger' at black congressman." It turns out that none of it was true. And then, on Tuesday, the NAACP passed a resolution "calling on all people to condemn racism within the tea-party movement."

I personally condemn and repudiate any racism, and I am sure most of the people in the Tea Party Movement do as well. However, after the media and the NAACP made sure that many people would believe the Tea Partiers are racist, they never bothered to mention or condemn the extreme racism from the New Black Panther Party, particularly Malik Zulu Shabazz. As you will see in the video below, Hilary Shelton, a VP at NAACP, said there was also a resolution condemning the NBPP. Oh, really? I see... Then, apparently. THAT was something the mainstream media didn't think was important enough to report. Just sayin'...

Kudos to the St. Louis Tea Party Coalition for passing a resolution of its own, calling the NAACP resolution "a gutter tactic of attempting to silence opponents by inflammatory name-calling."

And kudos to the Kansas City Star for quoting it. Now, if its editors would only put their big-boy pants on and own up to their parent company's role in the original smear.

Blacks will know they have achieved full acceptance in America when the media begin to treat the NAACP as the hack left-wing political group it has obviously become.

Now, alas, my hometown Kansas City Star treats the NAACP meeting here in KC as though it were the 2,000th annual reunion of Jesus and the 12 apostles.

Yesterday's headline reads, "NAACP resolution addresses tea parties." It should have read, "NAACP resolution smears tea parties." In the opening lead, the reader learns that the NAACP passed a resolution overwhelmingly on Tuesday "calling on all people to condemn racism within the tea-party movement."

This presumes, of course, there was racism to condemn. A more inflammatory AP article – "NAACP accuses tea party of tolerating bigotry" – cites the incident that provoked the resolution:

U.S. Reps. John Lewis, Andre Carson and Emanuel Cleaver said some demonstrators, many of them tea-party activists, yelled a racial epithet as the black congressmen walked from House office buildings to the Capitol. Cleaver, D-Mo., also said he was spit on.

This kind of nonsense may have passed muster as news on day one, but let me please reiterate what we have learned since. Please share the following with your local news outlet.

On the afternoon of March 20, the day of the Obamacare protest, Andre Carson walked along with Rep. John Lewis and one other person from the Cannon Office Building across Independence Avenue to the Capitol.

At the Capitol, Carson told reporters what happened en route. Fortunately, the audio exists. As Carson explained, the three were "walking down the steps" of the Cannon Office Building when they "heard 'n-word, n-word,' at least 15 times, hundreds of people, and Capitol Police finally became aware and started protecting us."

When questioned on specifics, Carson reduced the hundreds of people to "maybe 15," who were shouting "Kill the bill, then the n-word." Added Carson for dramatic flair, "Yeah, I expected rocks to come."

On the return to the Cannon Office Building from the Capitol, a larger contingent of the Black Caucus chose to avoid the tunnel, which they would normally take, and brave the racist, would-be rock throwers. They also carried at least three video cameras among them.

The Caucus members passed without incident until they reached the steps of the Cannon Office Building. There, an inattentive Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo., flanked by a police officer, walked right in front of a man who had been screaming "kill the bill" through cupped hands for at least the previous 10 seconds.

Cleaver appeared to get caught in the vocal spray. Videos would show a visibly angry Cleaver poke his finger in the man's face.

Roughly 90 minutes after the alleged spitting, William Douglas of the McClatchy Papers posted an article with this inflammatory headline: "Tea-party protesters scream 'nigger' at black congressman."

Douglas appears to have interviewed the "congressman" in question, civil-rights icon John Lewis, but Lewis does not give him what he wants:

Lewis said he was leaving the Cannon Office Building to walk to the Capitol to vote when protesters shouted "Kill the bill, kill the bill," Lewis said.

"I said 'I'm for the bill, I support the bill, I'm voting for the bill,'" Lewis said.

In his very next line, Douglas makes a reference to Andre Carson. "A colleague who was accompanying Lewis said people in the crowd responded by saying 'Kill the bill, then the n-word.'"

Douglas immediately follows the Carson reference with the following:

"It surprised me that people are so mean and we can't engage in a civil dialogue and debate," Lewis said.

Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo., said he was a few yards behind Lewis and distinctly heard "nigger."

"It was a chorus," Cleaver said. "In a way, I feel sorry for those people who are doing this nasty stuff – they're being whipped up. I decided I wouldn't be angry with any of them."

Given the video evidence, we can see Douglas' reporting for the Democratic agitprop it is. Lewis never hears the word "nigger." If he had, Douglas surely would have shared it with the reader.

Curiously, Douglas quotes Carson on the most lethal of the slurs but attributes the quote only to "a colleague." Does Carson have a reputation for lying? Or does Douglas fear that by citing Carson, he admits into evidence his preposterous claim about crowds of screaming bigots? Or both?

Instead, Douglas slides the burden onto the Rev. Cleaver who claims no more than to have heard one person say "nigger" one time, a claim that will be much harder to disprove than Carson's.

Douglas then takes Cleaver's "chorus" quote and makes it sound as though he heard a chorus of slurs when surely Cleaver said no such thing. The reader is left with the impression, however, that Cleaver is "the colleague" who heard "kill the bill, then the n-word."

Douglas also implies that Cleaver was walking with Lewis from the Cannon Office Building to the Capitol when this happened, but he was not.

Cleaver accompanied Lewis only on the way back, which suggests that there should be evidence of racial slurs both coming and going. Despite Andrew Breitbart's offer of a $100,000 reward for such a video, none has emerged either coming or going.

Black Panthers: Obama's latest Rev. Wright ~ By Jerome Corsi

Jerome Corsi explains in his column that President Obama now has connections with the New Black Panther Party to deal with. Will he now throw these NBPP guys under the bus? These were the guys that were allowed the pass for the voter intimidation case in Philadelphia because Eric Holder's DOJ refused to prosecute an open-and-shut case. These are the guys preaching that blacks should kill "crackers" and their babies.

Clearly, a "beer summit" at the White House is out, especially when it comes to entertaining Malik Zulu Shabazz, the New Black Panther Party's national chairman.

But there is a deeper question here.

Can Eric Holder's Justice Department tolerate the intimidation of white voters by a black racist organization and still allow progressives to maintain that President Obama is intent on playing a transformational role in making race a nonissue in America?

A race uniter or a race divider?

Which will President Obama be?

Unfortunately for the White House, the New Black Panther Party is quickly becoming Obama's next case of Rev. Wright, or possibly his sequel to the Professor Gates controversy.

Barack Obama's association with the New Black Panther Party has cast renewed doubt on his ability to be a transformative president capable of leading the nation into a new dimension where race in America is no longer divisive.

During the 2008 presidential campaign, a user-generated posting by the New Black Panther Party on the official Obama '08 website was taken down, but only after it generated controversy.

"We removed the user-generated blog post because we don't condone any group that advocates violence," Obama presidential campaign spokesman Tommy Vietor told the Washington Times on March 20, 2008, explaining why the post was removed. "Sen. Obama gave a 37-minute speech about race [Tuesday], and we hope people will focus on that and not what one individual posted on a blog."

Vietor explained that BarackObama.com allowed supporters to set up their own blog pages and that the website at that time included more than 1 million pages.

The New Black Panther Party posting as an Obama fan on the campaign website was clearly polarizing, drawing at the time the criticism of yet another racial extremist in the person of David Duke, the Louisiana former state representative who discredited himself as an outspoken white supremacist and former grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.

"Now that Obama has a real chance to be president and needs white support, he claims to condemn Rev. Wright," Duke wrote on his website March 25, 2008. "In fact, Obama's official website even welcomes the support of a racist, communist black organization such as the Black Panthers, an organization with a long history of violence against white Americans."

The point is not that David Duke is right. Clearly, Duke's racism demands to be condemned just as does the racism of the New Black Panther Party.

The point is that instead of making race a nonissue, President Obama's record is that he polarizes race issues, perhaps because deep down he intellectually agrees with the radical polemics he admits in his autobiography were his intellectual pillars growing up – including antiwhite firebrands such as Malcolm X and Frantz Fanon.

The question becomes increasingly relevant as evidence continues to come out supporting the contention that the Department of Justice under Eric Holder is anything but color-blind.

The issue of the New Black Panther Party has the potential to dog Barack Obama, much as the Rev. Wright issue did during the 2008 campaign and the Professor Gates controversy did in the first months of his presidency.

In recent days, the resurfacing on the Internet of the New Black Panther Party post on the Obama '08 website has raised the question whether the New Black Panther Party's campaign support in delivering votes for Obama in 2008 may be a reason the administration does not want to prosecute the group on federal charges of intimidating white voters.

The myths of the Barefoot Bandit ~ By Phil Elmore

Before we begin reading this column, here is an example of the hysterical hysteria regarding a non-folk hero, Colton Harris-Moore, the so-called Barefoot Bandit:

I am glad that Phil wrote this column. It concerns me that somebody that is nothing but 2-bit thief manages to have a cult following. Yes, I checked out the Colton Harris-Moore Fan Club on facebook. What are these people thinking? Colt never did anything to help anyone out. Or you could say that he DID help people out... uh... of their personal possessions, not necessarily anything to be that proud of. The only thing that he did manage to do that was anything extraordinary was to avoid capture for a couple of years.

Phil is absolutely correct when saying that Colton could not have acquired the needed skills nor the fame without the technology of the internet and flight simulator games. His skills, if he is even really all that smart, could have been used for good purposes, and not for ripping people off. I just hope that after a long period of incarceration, that he learns how to use his abilities to help people rather than to hurt them. Hopefully, he'll follow the footsteps of Frank Abagnale Jr. (who, before his 19th birthday, successfully conned millions of dollars worth of checks as a Pan Am pilot, doctor, and legal prosecutor, and becoming so skillful that the FBI eventually turned to him for help in catching other cheque forgers), or Kevin Mitnik,who now runs Mitnick Security Consulting LLC, a computer security consultancy.

Again, Colton is not really that big of deal, he is not a legend, and Leonardo DiCaprio won't be playing his part in an upcoming movie. Just sayin'...

Technology created the Barefoot Bandit. It was technology that allowed Colton Harris-Moore to access the information he used and to acquire the little training he had to commit the crimes for which he is believed responsible. Without the Internet, without flight-simulator games, without the easy access to diverse and sometimes obscure information that our technologically saturated age affords, Colton Harris-Moore could not have known how to do what he did. But technology also created the Barefoot Bandit in promulgating, in disseminating, his legend. Without the Internet, without blogs and Facebook and online T-shirt sales and video sharing and countless "fans" talking to each other across the country and even around the world, Colton Harris-Moore could not have become famous. Had he not been famous, he would not have been caught ... and so this technological snake begins to consume its own tail, circling back on itself in what is, ultimately, not a very exciting story at all.

Colton Harris-Moore is a thief, and that's all he'll be remembered for being.

His name is Colton Harris-Moore, and he's in big trouble.

The moniker "Barefoot Bandit" was hung on Colton Harris-Moore sometime before or after he left a chalk footprint at the scene of one his crimes. When he was "perp-walked" off a plane in Nassau, true to his legend, he wasn't wearing any shoes. His notoriety is all the more remarkable because he was neither violent nor political. He made no statements of any substance, and he fought for no great causes. Internet denizens have dubbed him a latter-day Robin Hood, while some reporters have claimed he's built "a reputation as a 21st-century folk hero." Yet he did nothing to help anyone but himself – and while his crimes were confined to theft, they were crimes.

Colton Harris-Moore has been a fugitive for two years. That's longer than many hardened, armed criminals manage to hold out, with the exception of a few notable hard cases like James Charles Kopp and Eric Robert Rudolph (both of whom were reportedly assisted by people or groups who considered them heroes despite their despicable acts). When police finally closed in on Harris-Moore in the Bahamas, he stole a boat and led them on a chase worthy of an action movie. Eventually, the cops shot out the engine of the boat. Colton, armed for perhaps the first time in his criminal career, reportedly put the gun to his head in some sort of dramatic final play. Other reports say he tried to throw the gun into the water before he was taken. Regardless of what happened, Colton Harris-Moore was captured without injury to himself or others. As of this writing, he has been deported to the United States to face the consequences of his two-year adventure.

It was that adventure that eventually got him caught. Colton, you see, is famous, thanks to the Internet. His Facebook page has thousands of followers. At least one fellow in Seattle started selling T-shirts bearing Colton's picture. 20th Century Fox has purchased the film rights to the story, and Harris-Moore's mother is fighting to get control of her son's "entertainment interests."

It was that fame that prompted concerned citizens, who recognized Colton in the Bahamas, to call the police.

What you may have missed in all this – I know I did, at first – is that Colton was not a wealthy child who happened to have a pilot's license. He never had any formal pilot training at all. He's the product of a troubled childhood, a disturbed young man who is also very intelligent. He reportedly taught himself to fly a plane using flight simulator games and possibly using research he did on the Internet. (At least one report claims he had a laptop and a GPS unit with him when he was captured.) At 19, he has more solo hours in light aircraft than many adults trying to get their pilot's licenses. He is believed to have stolen five planes, two cars and a boat – and that's not to mention the hundred or more burglaries of residences in the United States and Canada the authorities think he committed.

The boy's story is incredible, to be sure. He is not, however, a folk hero. Jackson Holtz, writing last year, said it best:

Colton Harris-Moore is no Jesse James. No Robin Hood. No Billy the Kid or misfit MacGyver. ... The line between fact and fiction has started to blur in the past few weeks, as the 18-year-old from Camano Island has gained international notoriety as a wily, fleet-footed commando who continues to stay steps ahead of the police. ... [As] the elusive teen has become banter for talk radio and [blogs], lore often has outgrown truth. … He's no boy genius. It's unlikely that he and his mom will be nominated for the mother-child pair of the year. He's not blamed for every crime in the Pacific Northwest. He's no survivalist. He likely didn't hot-wire airplanes. And he's not always the barefoot burglar.

Not your 1930s Depression ~ By Patrice Lewis

Patrice has it so right in this column, it is making it difficult to expound on it. In fact, I ended up sitting on this one for several days to give me a little more time to come up with something. In fact, for a Patrice Lewis column back on May 22, 2010, I seemed to have encountered the same problem:

I usually do this little intro blurb after I've formatted the page and everything else involved. That's right, I save the best part for last (wink). But, it can also be the hardest part of the work I do in updating this blog. And sometimes, it is Patrice Lewis' columns that are the most difficult to write an intro for. Why? Because they are written so well, and I have to ask myself how anything I write here could ever compare. I really want people - as many as possible - to read what Patrice has to say. I don't want to bore anyone before they get to the column to read it for themselves.

In this column, Patrice brings up a problem that many would not have thought of. The fear now is that if there is a major economic collapse, that unlike in the Great Depression of the 1930's, many people won't be willing to do what it takes, or know how, to survive. She writes:

After decades of government entitlements, many people no longer have a work ethic. My concern is if we encounter the economic depression analysts predict, it will result in societal turmoil – because far too many people haven't the slightest clue how to work, how to exchange labor for food, or how to restrain their most vicious and animalistic desires in order to keep civilization civil.

After reading this column, many of you may get the same thought I did. "Keep your powder dry, folks." Just sayin'...

Our country can survive an economic depression. We've done it before and we can do it again. It won't be easy, but we can do it.

But I fear we cannot survive an economic depression when it's coupled with an unwillingness to embrace a work ethic, independence, civility and religious foundation. Once the artificial props of government entitlements are removed, it will be every man for himself. The results may be anarchy and chaos. And it will give the government a clear opportunity to take advantage of the "crisis" and put in place a government such as we could never imagine.

The news headlines have been screaming lately:

• Market forecaster sees Dow plunge to 1000

• Dow repeats Great Depression pattern

• 7.9 million jobs lost, many never to return

If you're self-employed like we are, headlines like these make us nervous. So we've gotten caught up in the "preparedness" movement purely out of anxiety.

You see, if our country is heading toward a 1930s-style depression or worse, I fear it won't be "just" an economic depression. We are missing some key elements that were present during the 1930s that will make that decade-long economic disaster a relative walk in the park compared to today.

Those key factors are a work ethic, independence, civility and a religious foundation.

Remember the old stories of how someone would knock at your grandmother's back door and offer to split some firewood in exchange for a meal? Does anyone honestly think hungry people will do this any more? We're so used to entitlements that the idea of lowering ourselves to exchange labor for food is outrageous. No, today a person who is hard up on their luck and not getting a government handout is much more likely to kick in the back door, tie grandma up, pistol whip her (or worse) and clean the house of any usable items before departing for the next victim. In their minds this is because grandma has no "right" to have food when they don't.

The elders in our society often recall with fondness some of the good elements that came out of the horrible Great Depression. They remember the sense of community that sprang up, born of common hardships. They remember how hard the indigent would work to maintain their dignity and not sink to accepting charitable handouts without offering something else in exchange (such as splitting firewood).

But no more.

After decades of government entitlements, many people no longer have a work ethic. My concern is if we encounter the economic depression analysts predict, it will result in societal turmoil – because far too many people haven't the slightest clue how to work, how to exchange labor for food, or how to restrain their most vicious and animalistic desires in order to keep civilization civil.

If it weren't so tragic, it would be laughable to hear people spouting on and on about their "rights." Criminey, folks, most people wouldn't recognize a real "right" if it bit them on the butt. Rights are a gift from God. They do NOT come from the government. All those entitlements – subsidized housing, food stamps, free medical care – are not "rights."

We have the right to life. We have the right to liberty. And we have the right to the pursuit (not the achievement) of happiness. These rights derive from our Creator, not from the fools in Washington.

You do NOT have the "right" to food. It's up to you to get that for yourself or, if you can't, to look to private individuals or organizations to voluntarily provide it. You do NOT have the right to housing, medical care, transportation, unemployment checks, or anything else people bleat about when they want something but don't want to work for it.

Only when we struggle to be as independent as possible are the chains of slavery seen so clearly.

Because we have been so caught up with false "rights" for the last 50 years, we've gotten to the point where we are helpless and dependent and no longer able or willing to achieve anything on our own. And only someone pathetically caught up in a liberal mentality can argue that entitlements help people achieve independence.

This mentality has set the stage for a modern collapse to be worse than any throughout the annals of history.

Right now there are economic forces at work that are beyond our control. We can go from homeowner to homeless in the blink of an eye. It can happen to anyone, no matter how prepared or unprepared they believe themselves to be.

But a work ethic, an independent spirit and a moral foundation are entirely within our control and can be acquired just as quickly. To their ultimate loss, most people choose not to acquire them.

So if we're heading for a depression in this country, we need to brace ourselves for much, much more than financial hardship. We need to brace ourselves against millions of lawless people demanding "entitlements" they have not earned and for which they have no intention of offering anything in exchange.

What does the future hold for America? There are two possibilities – a loss of freedom, or a return of freedom. Sadly, most people don't like freedom. They want someone to rescue them if things go wrong, which means they only like the "freedom" of an extra-long chain.

We have allowed independence to slip into dependence. We have allowed a work ethic to descend into an entitlement mentality.

The next tea party ~ By Joseph Farah

After some careful thought, I decided to post this column. Actually, it wasn't a matter of whether or not I would post it, but what I thought about the idea. I've decided that I would not write about what I thought of the idea, but let you make your own decision. And then, you should send an email to Joseph to let him know what YOU think about his idea.

Joseph asks, "Is there something more we can do to raise the stakes, to energize more Americans, to rally the troops and awaken others who are still sleepwalking?" That's a great question. I still keep running into people that have very little idea what the tea party movement is about, or for that matter, have very little clue about what is going wrong in America. About the only things they are aware of is how bad the economy is (and that it is George W. Bush's fault), and the oil spill (and why hasn't BP plugged the hole yet?). And why is that? It is because not enough of us that have a clue are working hard enough to clue in the clueless!

What more can we do to rally the troops and energize more Americans? How about if all of us do as much as possible to communicate with people, whether it's on our blogs, by email, face to face conversations with friends, relatives and neighbors, posting to our facebook or My Space pages, on twitter, on youtube, and etc. etc. etc. Spread the word in what ever form you can, but we all MUST  chip in. Just sayin'...

The tea-party movement has demonstrated its size and strength in a thousand rallies, demonstrations and town-hall meetings.

The action today is focused on traditional political campaigning leading up to Nov. 2 election – as it should be.

But what else can we do?

What else, if anything, should we do?

I am of the belief that most of my colleagues in the media, and those in the political establishment, are still underestimating the electoral revolution we will see this fall. I don't want to detract in the slightest from the work that needs to be done in every congressional district and every precinct in America. It's important work. It's hard work. It's vital work.

The 2010 midterm election is, as has been said by many, the most important such vote Americans have participated in during the last 100 years. It could fundamentally change the country's direction – an objective that is necessary for the nation's very survival.

But is there anything else we should consider doing between now and then as a show of force?

Is there something more we can do to raise the stakes, to energize more Americans, to rally the troops and awaken others who are still sleepwalking?

I'm just thinking out loud here, so consider this idea just that – a radical idea perhaps worthy of consideration.

What about a one-day general strike by citizens in protest of the purposeful destruction of the American Dream, the rule of law and the will of the people?

What if, just prior to the election, perhaps on the first Monday in October, the day the U.S. Supreme Court traditionally reconvenes following its summer vacation, millions of ordinary, hard-working Americans, who don't get the whole summer off, didn't report for work?

What if business owners who fear for the future of their country closed up shop on that day and encouraged all employees to rally at city halls and state capitals and in the District of Columbia?

What if those taking the day off spent the day handing out fliers and knocking on doors for congressional candidates pledged to return American to its constitutional moorings?

What if we effectively shut down the nation so Americans could get a taste of what's coming if we don't change course in a hurry?

I'm not necessarily calling for it. I'm just putting it on the table for discussion.

Would it work? Would Americans participate? If they did, would it generate more interest and participation in the election? Would it persuade Americans still sitting on the fence to join the revolution?

This may sound like a radical idea. But the first tea party in Boston Harbor was a dramatic act of civil disobedience. I'm sure there were many who sat on the sidelines and said, "This is going to be counterproductive. We should stick to writing petitions to the king and Parliament."

At some point, though, when the powers that be continue to ignore those petitions, continue to ignore the peaceful rallies, continue to ignore the public-opinion surveys, continue to ignore each and every new election, you have to raise the stakes.

Is this the way?

Rule of law: Endangered species ~ By Henry Lamb

Henry brings up a subject that just makes me want to scream: Selective enforcement. I know, I know... it happens all of the time. The police do it occasionally  when enforcing traffic laws. Local and federal prosecuting attorneys do it, too, when they select the cases they will prosecute. It happens, sometimes for good reasons, and sometimes not so good. However, it can be downright scary when it comes to Obama's type of selective enforcement in order to "transform America."

As Henry points out, selective enforcement is just one of the ways that Obama is flagrantly disregarding the rule of law. My feeling, though, is that it can be, and is, just as dangerous as any of the ways that Obama flaunts the rule of law. When it comes to selective enforcement as a way to influence future elections, it is extremely dangerous. Check out the video below, where John Fund explains how selective enforcement of election laws could make it much easier for Obama to steal an election. Just sayin'...

More voter fraud that the DOJ won't enforce (for political reasons)

I am not sure which is really worse: The refusal to prosecute the voter intimidation case out of Philadelphia, or this. Either way, either those of us that vote conservative could be turned away from the polls, or many fraudulent voters for the Democrats will show up to vote. Either way, nothing the DOJ is doing is promoting an election that would even pass in banana republics! It's called "rigging the election!" The lack of action by the Civil Rights Division of the DOJ is NO accident. It's called selective enforcement.

Obama's defeat must begin in November by unseating the majority that now runs Congress. Then, perhaps, Congress can begin to repeal some of Obama's agenda, or at the very least refuse to provide funds needed for implementation. Immediately after the November election, every person who loves America – as the founders created it – needs to begin a private campaign to remove the last of the Marxist-leaning people who now dominate the federal government.

Federal law currently prohibits the use of marijuana. California spit in the face of the feds and enacted a law that makes "medical" marijuana available. Now, a ballot initiative in the November election would remove the "medical" requirement and allow any adult to grow and use marijuana at will in the Golden State.

The Obama administration has indicated that it will not waste Department of Justice resources by trying to challenge California's rejection of federal drug laws.

The Obama administration, however, is wasting Department of Justice resources by challenging Arizona's law that affirms the federal immigration law and authorizes police officers to ask for proof of citizenship from suspects who have been detained for infringement of any law.

The Obama administration is flatly failing to enforce federal law in both cases. It has deliberately chosen not to enforce the federal drug laws in California, and it has deliberately chosen not to enforce the immigration law in Arizona (and other border states), even though the Constitution requires the president "take care to see that the laws be faithfully executed." Why is he planning to challenge Arizona's immigration law in court, while ignoring California's marijuana law?

It's called selective enforcement.

In a nation based on the rule of law, the law is supposed to apply to every person equally, regardless of race, sex, financial condition, or political affiliation. Obama and his administration have made a mockery of this concept.

The Department of Justice chose not to prosecute the Black Panthers who stood in front of a Pennsylvania polling place brandishing nightsticks. Do you think the Department of Justice would take the same action against two white dudes dressed in camouflage outfits brandishing nightsticks in front of a polling place?

These are fairly small examples of selective enforcement, but they do shine a spotlight on this administration's disregard for their responsibility to uphold and enforce the law – and apply it equally to all people.

Far more important are the examples of Obama's complete and utter disregard for limitations of power placed on the federal government by the U.S. Constitution. There was not the least bit of hesitation before Obama ordered the chairman of General Motors to step down, to be replaced by a puppet of Obama's choosing. There was not the least bit of hesitation before Obama's people chose the auto dealers who would be put out of business. It makes no difference at all to Obama that the Constitution does not give the president the authority to take these actions. Incidentally, it was purely coincidental that the majority of auto dealers put out of business had supported Republican candidates. Yeah, that's their story, and they are sticking to it.

This propensity to act despite the law to achieve objectives Obama wants to achieve, makes Barack Hussein Obama the most dangerous president the country has ever known. He has said he fully intended to fundamentally transform the United States of America.

He has forced through Congress his brand of universal health care, a precursor to complete socialized medicine. There is no way private insurance companies can continue to operate under the requirements placed upon them by the health-care legislation. Suppose the auto industry were told that they had to insure auto owners after an accident – and repair the automobile – but could not charge a penny more than they charged people who had no accident. No private company can stay in business paying out more than they take in. The health-care law forces insurance companies into this position.

Through his appointments and support of legislation to give the president emergency control of the Internet, Obama has exposed his disregard for the First Amendment. This administration is actively seeking ways to control the free flow of information, especially from critics and those who oppose the Obama agenda.

Revealed! Islam's greatest contribution to science ~ By Burt Prelutsky

In his column, Burt was leading up to the point that really bad things can lead to good things. One of his examples was how Jimmy Carter led to Ronald Reagan. I could add another example by saying that Woodrow Wilson led to Calvin Coolidge and Warren Harding, which gave us the roaring 20's after they reduced taxes AND spending. So, basically, Burt was telling us that we will have brighter times ahead, even as soon as right after the midterm election on Nov. 2 ... which of course assumes Obama doesn't bring us martial law and postpone elections before then. Just sayin'...

Finally, even in the gloomiest of times, I like to find something that will lift my spirits and make my soul sing. So it is that between now and Nov. 2, no matter how bleak things may look, I know that I'll get through it by reminding myself that a Portland masseuse got to call Nobel Peace Prize recipient Al Gore "a crazed sex poodle."

Apparently, one of Obama's orders to NASA was to reach out to Muslim nations, celebrating them for their contributions to science, math and engineering. So, in short order, we've gone from reaching for the moon to reaching for Tehran.

I say if we're going that far back in history, we should also take a moment to thank whomever was responsible for coming up with shoes, because in living memory, the only contribution to science made by the Muslim world was turning human beings into delivery systems for bombs.

But it's not just Obama who seems to be taking his directions from Mecca. The town council of Darlaston, England, painted over the windows at its public swimming pool at the insistence of the local Muslims.

One elderly Englishwoman complained that after her recent cataract operation, she had looked forward to seeing the trees outside the facility while swimming her daily laps. Instead, thanks to the paint job, she felt as if her cataracts had returned.

Several questions occur to me, aside from the most obvious one: Why are the English kowtowing to Shariah law?

o begin with, why are Muslim women swimming in public? Even if those outside the pool can no longer ogle them, what about all those randy English blokes who are splashing around inside? Will they be forced to don blindfolds? How about reaching a compromise by removing the paint and making the Muslim women swim in burqas?

Even though Obama seems to regard Muslims as God's chosen people, and by "God" he obviously means himself, I'm here to remind everyone that the most important off-year election in our history is now less than four months away. Even if the Republican on your ballot isn't your conservative ideal, please keep in mind that he or she is part of the antidote to Obamacare, cap-and-trade, increased taxes and additional stimulus bills.

If nothing else impels you to get out and vote on Nov. 2, remind yourself that if the GOP regains control of the House, Nancy Pelosi will not only have to surrender the speaker's gavel, but that jumbo jet she's grown to love. Surely that should be enough to get you off the couch, come Election Day.

Additionally, if the GOP takes back the House, the Republicans will control the nation's purse strings, which will help transform the turkey in the Oval Office into a lame duck.

It's hard to believe, but after the 2008 elections, I worried that the Whigs would make a comeback long before the Republicans. But, then, I never imagined that the Democrats in Congress would enter into political suicide pacts on behalf of Obama's loony, leftist agenda.

The last great coverup ~ By Jack Cashill

Jack talks about how different the story of the downing of TWA Flight 800 would have been had it happened just five years later and all of the witness reports had been posted on the internet. Things would have been much different. There may not have been an attack on America on 9/11, had the investigation of the Flight 800 gone differently and been covered as it should have been by the press.

If you haven't read any of Jack's previous stories about TWA Flight 800, the 747 that exploded just off the coast of Long Island on July 17, 1996, I highly recommend it. The story goes deep into possible cover-ups inside the Clinton Administration, all to keep al-Qaeda's war with the United States a highly classified secret. In today's column, for example, you'll read about Jamie Gorlick and Sandy Berger, two of Clinton's top people, that even went to extremes to keep the secret away from the press even well into George W. Bush's first term.

Also among the columns includes work that Jack did while teamed up with Peter Lance, writer of "Triple Cross," and also an excellent investigative reporter. There is so much to this story, you will be amazed at how the stories bring so many other events of the 1990's up through 9/11 all together. Just sayin'...

And lest some messy scraps of information find their way to the committee's Republicans, the Clintons dispatched their most trusted adviser to do a little cleanup work.

Alas, Sandy Berger got caught, but this proved much easier to bury than TWA 800. The Justice Department slapped his wrist on a Friday, the day after Terry Schiavo died and the day before Pope John Paul II did.

The media did not want to know anyhow, and, this time, there would be no eyewitnesses.

If TWA Flight 800 had exploded off the coast of Long Island in July 2001 as visibly as it had in July 1996, the world would have been told a different story, even if there had been a Democrat in the White House.

On the night of July 17, 1996, and into the early morning hours of the 18th, Bill and Hillary Clinton and Deputy National Security Adviser Sandy Berger huddled fretfully in the family quarters of the White House.

The election they thought was in the bag no longer was.

The air-traffic controllers had already reported. The radar data told a story not easily untold.

And now, eyewitness reports were flooding in. The explosion had taken place right at sunset, just 10 miles off the coast, on a perfect night, with thousands of people looking out over the sea from Long Island's popular south shore.

In 2001, some clever soul would have started collecting their tales on a website before the tide turned, literally and figuratively. And the tales they had to tell!

FBI witness No. 73, an aviation buff, watched a "red streak" with a "light gray smoke trail" move up toward the airliner, and then go "past the right side and above the aircraft before arcking [sic] back down toward the aircrafts [sic] right wing."

She even reported the actual breakup sequence before the authorities figured it out on their own.

High-school principal Joseph Delgado might have posted his comments as well. He would tell the FBI that he had seen an object like "a firework" ascend "fairly quick," then "slow" and "wiggle" then "speed up" and get "lost." Then he saw a second object that "glimmered" in the sky, higher than the first, then a red dot move up to that object, then a puff of smoke, then another puff, then a "firebox."

Mike Wire would surely have gone public. The no-nonsense millwright and U.S. Army vet watched events unfold from the Beach Lane Bridge in Westhampton on Long Island.

Wire had seen a white light traveling skyward from the ground at approximately a 40-degree angle, sparkling and zigzagging before culminating in a massive fireball.

In addition to the testimony, others would have been posting their videos and stills, all of which supported the eyewitness testimony. Others still would have shared the drawings of the incident that they would later give to the FBI.

But in 1996, the Internet was still in its embryonic stages. All information posted thereon was deemed, by the major media at least, suspect and even laughable.

In the absence of an effective Internet, the White House hit upon a control strategy that dazzled in its simplicity and in its sheer nerve.

The Clintons' trusted point person, Deputy Attorney General Jamie Gorelick, would take the investigation away from the professionals in the National Transportation Safety Board and give it to the amateurs of the FBI. There was one reason why. The FBI reported to her. The NTSB did not.

This was illegal, of course, but the media had a president to re-elect soon enough, and they were not about to scruple over details.

The second part of the strategy was as simple as the first. The FBI would talk only to The New York Times. This essentially made the Times Gorelick's ministry of propaganda.

Of the 270 eyewitnesses who told the FBI they saw what looked like a missile strike TWA Flight 800, The New York Times would interview exactly none of them.

Fearing perhaps to lose their privileged status and trusting the FBI more than they should have, the Times people followed the FBI lead. The other media, some grudgingly, followed the Times.

Most FBI agents, of course, worked hard and tried to do the right thing. They may have suspected but could not know that their work was being subverted at the top.

As each week passed, the Clintons had to be stunned that so obvious a truth remained so thoroughly ignored. To sustain the lie, however, insiders had to tell more lies still.

The FBI would fabricate a second interview with Witness No. 73. The CIA would fabricate a second interview with Mike Wire. The NTSB would lie outright about what Joseph Delgado saw, but the election came and went without anyone even knowing who these people were.

Gorelick could not have slept easily through all of this, but the lotto was around the corner, and she knew she had the winning ticket. In May 1997, they called her number.

Out of all the likely finance and mortgage experts in America, the Fannie Mae Board picked her, a lawyer with no relevant experience, to be its new vice chair. Gorelick would earn more than $4 million a year for the next six years, and no one in the media asked why.

They did not even ask why when she stepped down. Always the patriot, Gorelick resigned to take one of five Democratic seats on the Sept. 11 Commission.
