By John KubicekI could have said a couple years ago that putting videos on youtube was a fun "hobby." That statement would no longer apply. It is becoming much more than a hobby, especially these days.
I've increased the number of videos that I can put on youtube to the maximum extent of what I have time to do in a day. And that is the frustrating part of doing this. Every day, I spend hours consuming and recording news. And yet, I can only put up one or two segments that are just a few minutes in length. There are times when by the time I am to the point of uploading a video, it is usually late in the day for me, and I'm almost too tired to write a description much less come up with a title for the video.
So, you see, what I'm able to do to keep the watchers of my channel informed is so extremely limited compared to the amount of information that is out there. I can only hope that those that watch the video segments I share will also be spending time consuming information from all of the other sources that are available. I do my best to expose that tip of the iceberg just enough that those I share my work with will have a greater interest in looking below the tip of that iceberg, and will start seeing more of what is going on in this crazy world. That's my hope.
If I may, I would like to tell you something that is pretty exciting. There have now been over 2 million views of TheREALjohnny2k channel! It is increasing by thousands every day. Hopefully, a few people are finding what they're looking for!

You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
I recently posted this quote on my blog, which prompted a (liberal) reader to write the following comment: "All the indications are that the USA doesn't really need to 'multiply' its total wealth; indeed, that it would be a bad thing for the world if it did. But rather, that what wealth it has might need to be spread more evenly among its citizens."I found this comment to be a fascinating glimpse into the liberal mind. Apparently, the writer truly believes what he wrote: Your wealth should be spread more evenly among everyone.What IS this obsession the left has for stealing peoples' money? Because let's face it, "spreading the wealth" is simply a euphemism for government-sanctioned theft.It makes sense that if you give people stuff for free, it takes away their incentive to get it for themselves. If you provide someone with free money, who in their right mind is going to give that up by earning their own money? And of course the law of unintended consequences dictates that the more money you take away from someone, the less incentive they have to earn more. Only by playing with data can scientists come up with the infamous ‘hockey stick’ graph of global warming
Posted: October 01, 2009, 8:53 PMBy Ross McKitrickBeginning in 2003, I worked with Stephen McIntyre to replicate a famous result in paleoclimatology known as the Hockey Stick graph. Developed by a U.S. climatologist named Michael Mann, it was a statistical compilation of tree ring data supposedly proving that air temperatures had been stable for 900 years, then soared off the charts in the 20th century. Prior to the publication of the Hockey Stick, scientists had held that the medieval-era was warmer than the present, making the scale of 20th century global warming seem relatively unimportant. The dramatic revision to this view occasioned by the Hockey Stick’s publication made it the poster child of the global warming movement. It was featured prominently in a 2001 report of the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), as well as government websites and countless review reports.Steve and I showed that the mathematics behind the Mann Hockey Stick were badly flawed, such that its shape was determined by suspect bristlecone tree ring data. Controversies quickly piled up: Two expert panels involving the U.S. National Academy of Sciences were asked to investigate, the U.S. Congress held a hearing, and the media followed the story around the world.The expert reports upheld all of our criticisms of the Mann Hockey Stick, both of the mathematics and of its reliance on flawed bristlecone pine data. One of the panels, however, argued that while the Mann Hockey Stick itself was flawed, a series of other studies published since 1998 had similar shapes, thus providing support for the view that the late 20th century is unusually warm. The IPCC also made this argument in its 2007 report. But the second expert panel, led by statistician Edward Wegman, pointed out that the other studies are not independent. They are written by the same small circle of authors, only the names are in different orders, and they reuse the same few data climate proxy series over and over.Most of the proxy data does not show anything unusual about the 20th century. But two data series have reappeared over and over that do have a hockey stick shape. One was the flawed bristlecone data that the National Academy of Sciences panel said should not be used, so the studies using it can be set aside. The second was a tree ring curve from the Yamal Peninsula in Siberia, compiled by UK scientist Keith Briffa.Briffa had published a paper in 1995 claiming that the medieval period actually contained the coldest year of the millennium. But this claim depended on just three tree ring records (called cores) from the Polar Urals. Later, a colleague of his named F. H. Schweingruber produced a much larger sample from the Polar Urals, but it told a very different story: The medieval era was actually quite warm and the late 20th century was unexceptional. I had doubts that I would see anything on the news this morning that would ever be worthy enough to take the time to upload to youtube. I had no desire to spend time video blogging about what a scumbag Dave Letterman is. In fact, that is now a well known fact that I really wanted to erase from my mind. It was not an image that I wanted to have stuck in my head.And of course, there was that big attempt for Chicago to get the Olympics in 2016. There is now the great sadness...please bow your heads... that Valerie, Michelle, and Barack won't be getting rich on that great land deal that they thought was in the bag... Oh. I digress.It surely pains me to see the Iran nuclear issue go by without my comment at this time, but seriously, I'm sure that most of you already know what a complete failure the Obama policy has been.Mmmm mmm mmm, Barack Hussein Obama, you've been rejected!And what a shocking story that would be to be telling you about now, except for the fact that there are many more important issues that have been rejected and ignored by Obama and his minions in the state-run media. Now, with more protests looming and a nuclear program facing international pressure, can the Revolutionary Guard and its allies sustain their tightening grip on the Islamic Republic?JERRY GUO was an analyst in an Iranian investment bank in Tehran.The headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) are in a European-style palace, replete with Greek columns and a grand staircase, in the eastern suburbs of Tehran. From here, the IRGC orchestrated the crackdown that followed Iran's disputed presidential vote in June, beating protestors on the street and torturing those behind bars. More ominously, the IRGC and other extreme hard-liners have sidelined fellow conservatives in the Iranian government, carving out their own power base in a regime that is becoming increasingly insular, reactionary, and violent.So far, much of the analysis of the emerging Iranian power struggle has focused on the clash between the country's conservatives and reformers, pitting President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his patron, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, against Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi, two thwarted presidential candidates, and Mohammad Khatami, a former president. (Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, a former president and seasoned kingmaker has eased toward the reformists in the election's aftermath.)The real struggle, however, is the conflict among the hard-liners themselves, many of whom operate behind the headlines in unseen corners of the state machinery. Although Iran's opposition movement has witnessed an unprecedented surge in public support, the election and its aftermath mark a radicalization of the system not seen since the early days of the Islamic revolution.In the reformist era of Khatami, and to some extent during Ahmadinejad's first term, the country's conservative theocrats and technocrats -- such as Ali Larijani, the speaker of the parliament, and Gholam-Hussein Mohseni-Ejei, the ousted intelligence minister who criticized the state's use of forced confessions -- held much of the power over the executive and legislative branches. Although they were entrenched status quo forces, these pragmatists believed in the dual nature of the Islamic Republic's statehood -- a country with religious and political legitimacy.But now such figures are losing their influence to a new breed of second-generation revolutionaries from Iran's security apparatus known as "the New Right." They are joined in the emerging power structure by ultraconservative clerics and organizations such as the Alliance of Builders of Islamic Iran. He believes that the Obama Administration and the Democatic leadership in Congress are leading us on a path to chaos. One of the most venerable crooners of all time, and perennially popular, Andy Williams has been thrilling audiences for 50 years with his incredible voice. Williams, too, had a word or two to say about Barack Obama, stating flatly that Obama is following Marxist theory and wants the country to fail.One would be hard-pressed to prove Williams wrong when one takes a cold, hard look at the facts concerning the actions of this President.But there is another vociferous critic of Obama who has raised some eyebrows. Pat Caddell worked for the Carter Administration in the late-70s and describes himself as a 'liberal Democrat.' Yet Caddell decries what he describes as the consistent crossing of the line by this Administration into areas that violate the Constitution and push the nation toward socialism. The male is using his position to extort the sex. Every time. No exceptions. Many a male has lost his job over this. Don't think this applies to you? Consult your workplace "sexual harassment" code. On his national TV program the other night, David Letterman admitted having sex with (much) younger female staffers in subordinate jobs in his production company "Worldwide Pants, Inc." We shoulda known by the name. Letterman still has his show and his job. In fact, his confession got a loud laugh from his New York studio audience. They're the same laughs Dave gets when he makes fun of the Palin family – or of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Dave reacted to news that Arnold had once groped eight women by remarking "He's presidential material." Liberal rules don't apply to liberals. Apparently neither does liberal philosophy. Dave also disclosed why he was confessing on the national show. A "48 Hours" producer had tried to extort $2 million from him, threatening to expose Dave's indiscretions. As the story was told, when Letterman heard the producer's demand, he immediately called his attorney, who went to the Manhattan district attorney. The attorney then, wearing a wire, met with the blackmailer. A grand jury was convened, an indictment handed down, an arrest made. It all happened in a short period of time. The "right response" you say? Yes. In my opinion, it was exactly the right thing to do. But not according to prevailing liberal thought. Letterman, a New York liberal, endorsed President Obama and specifically praised Obama's rejection of Bush unilateralism and Obama's willingness to join allies and meet directly with dictators who are developing nuclear weapons in North Korea and Iran, "extending our hand if they will unclench their fist." Yet when he was faced with a determined adversary equipped and willing to nuke his career, Dave dropped the hammer on him. Where was the understanding, the empathy?
