WIFLI Briefing for Apr 10, 2012 - The message is simple

Welcome to this edition of Time 2 Escape WIFLI Briefing!

What is WIFLI?
You may be wondering what the acronym "WIFLI" means. I started out by calling these issues the Time 2 Escape Daily, but that didn't work out very well. I quickly learned that putting these issues together on a daily basis was a task I was unable to accomplish. To replace "Daily" in the title, I borrowed the acronym WIFLI, which literally means "When I Feel Like It." Putting together a post on this blog WIFLI works much better for my schedule, and for the higher quality of each issue that is eventually published!

FAIR USE NOTICE: This edition of the Time 2 Escape WIFLI Briefing may contain copyrighted material. Such material is made available for educational purposes only. This constitutes a 'fair use' of any such copyrighted material as provided for in Title 17 U.S.C. section 106A-117 of the U.S. Copyright Law.

Up until just a few moments ago, there were many people that still had hope for Rick Santorum to become the GOP nominee in the election against Barack Obama. I had included that as the first story in the NEWS segment since I began working on this issue of the WIFLI Briefing. I had to append an update just below the story that broke the sad news for Rick's Army that the Santorum campaign was now over.

But the good news is, for the rest of this issue, I included the columns that are very relative to why Barack Obama must not win a second term. The information that you'll read and ponder on as you continue through this edition are just the tip of the iceberg.

There is a problem, however, and that is the Conservatives are going to be very concerned about whether or not Mitt Romney can be trusted to what is right for America, and not sway over to the progressive values and policies that we've had to endure at many times with other Republican Presidents. Will Mitt Romney really work to reduce the size and power of the Federal government? That will be our hope, but there are doubts that have sprung up since the nomination process first began back in Iowa in January.... or even four years ago.

Since my last WIFLI Briefing on March 28, I've had to go through some things that prevented me from being able to get this issue finally published. Just one week ago today, I had the surgery that reversed the ileostomy surgery I had on January 25 of this year. The operation on April 3 was successful. And while in the recovery process, I've done my best to keep on top of the news and get this edition published.

As usual, I had the wonderful support from family and friends to keep me uplifted and positive throughout the surgery and recovery process. I had the joy of watching the Chicago Cubs trying not to lose, and wonderful shows on various Christian broadcasting networks to watch. I had the opportunity to still be able to worship my Lord during the important time of Passover and Easter. At the end of this edition, you'll see one of the videos that I spent much time watching again and again.

I even ended up watching the exciting conclusion of the Masters golf tournament in Augusta, GA. I'm not usually interested in watching golf on TV, but for some reason, watching how Bubba Watson persevered, especially on that last hole in the playoff, it was a special treat.

Another special treat was when I donated my remaining nine ostomy bags to the Community Health Free Clinic yesterday. I hope those will be a great blessing to somebody in need someday.

And as usual, I had time to keep up with Ralph Marston's Daily Motivators. I believe that the Daily Motivator "Decide" on Monday, April 9, 2012, was the most relevant to this WIFLI issue:

Decide that this day will be productive and consequential, and it will be. Decide to rise above the petty distractions, and you’re already on your way.

Decide that there are valuable opportunities in the challenges, and you’ll find those opportunities. Decide to make a positive difference, and you’ll have what is necessary to do so.

There are many factors in life over which you have no direct control. And yet even with those things, you can decide how to handle them.

  ~ Ralph Marston ~ Decide ~ Apr 9, 2012
I am praying that the Conservative Republicans and Independents, and even some Democrats, will unite to fight to keep America free. I'm just sayin'...

Could GOP delegate count really be this close?
Santorum camp looks to claim as many as 7 victories during May
From WND ~ By Bob Unruh ~ Published Apr 5, 2012

A report released today by Rick Santorum’s campaign says that the GOP primary tabulations assembled by the media are wrong, and the former Pennsylvania senator actually is much closer to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney than is being portrayed.

RICK SANTORUM
The report said Santorum will follow what always was expected to be a “difficult” month of April with the possibility of up to seven victories in May, which would leave him “heading into the June 5th primaries with a freight train of momentum.”

The report by Strategic National was released this afternoon by the campaign.

The report says a much more accurate assessment of the delegate totals in the GOP nomination race at this point is 571 for Romney, 342 for Santorum, 158 for Newt Gingrich and 91 for Ron Paul.

The Wall Street Journal, on the other hand, lists 658 for Romney, 281 for Santorum, 135 for Gingrich and 51 for Ron Paul. Real Clear Politics lists 655 for Romney, 272 for Santorum, 140 for Gingrich and 67 for Paul..

The report released by Santorum’s campaign said, “There are a couple of fundamental flaws with the delegate counts that the media keeps that reveals that this race is much closer than they report.”

The report said Florida, Arizona and “possibly Puerto Rico” will be recalculated to disperse their delegates on a proportional basis. Those counts now go wholly to Romney.

UPDATE! At 1:00 PM Central today, 4-10-12, I heard the news that Rick Santorum has suspended his campaign. He is dropping out of the race for the GOP nomination.

Holder assures judge of administration's respect
From GOPUSA News ~ By Pete Yost ~ Published Apr 5, 2012 12:58 pm

ATTY GENERAL ERIC HOLDER
WASHINGTON (AP) -- In a letter written at the request of a federal appellate judge, Attorney General Eric Holder on Thursday offered assurances that the Obama administration respects the decisions that courts make.

The attorney general wrote the letter after appeals court judge Jerry Smith in Texas asked for reassurances that the Justice Department recognizes judicial authority. Smith made the request after President Barack Obama said this week that it would be "unprecedented" for the Supreme Court to overturn a major law passed by Congress like the health care overhaul whose constitutionality it is now considering.

On Tuesday, the judge had said he wanted a letter of at least three pages that makes specific references to the president's statements.

"The longstanding, historical position of the United States regarding judicial review of the constitutionality of federal legislation has not changed," Holder wrote.

The Imperial President: Obama Wages War on SCOTUS, Congress
From Breitbart.com Big Government ~ By Ben Shapiro ~ Published Apr 3, 2012

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA
In August 2011, Obama stated, “It's been a long, tough journey. But we have made some incredible strides together. Yes, we have …. We knew this was going to take time because we've got this big, messy, tough democracy.

BEN SHAPIRO
President Obama’s favorite word, as we’ve learned repeatedly, is “I.” He uses it on a constant basis. He uses it to claim credit and to assign blame. He uses it to cajole and to threaten. He uses it to plead and to prod.

But he doesn’t use the word “I” purely out of ego. He does it because for President Obama, “I” represents the executive branch. And the executive branch, in Obama’s view, is the ruling branch of American government.

President Obama’s latest attack on the Supreme Court is just the latest evidence of his deep-rooted disdain not just for the Constitution, but for the system of checks and balances it represents. Prior to his election, Obama told Americans that we were just days away from “fundamentally transforming the United States of America.” He didn’t mean that simply in terms of policy, although he certainly wanted redistributionist policy to take center stage. He meant it in terms of governmental structure.

President Obama has made it his mission to wield the club against the other two branches of government in a manner unprecedented in American history. Yesterday, Obama, rejecting the heart of judicial review for purposes of his own power, stated, “I am confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress.” That, of course, is precisely what the Supreme Court does on a daily basis: it reviews acts of a democratically-elected Congress. The reason the justices are unelected is that they are supposed to be free of outside influences in defending and protecting the Constitution.

Obama’s Quest To Consolidate Federal Power
From GOPUSA Commentary ~ By Christopher G.Adamo ~ Published Apr 5, 2012 6:55 a.m.

CHRISTOPHER ADAMO
Theories abound as to the motives and significance of Barack Obama’s April 2, 2012 tirade against the United States Supreme Court. Perhaps the most plausible, given the timing of the events, is that one of the “justices” sympathetic to the Obama regime leaked word that the Court had struck down Obamacare in large part, or in full. In response, Obama could be attempting to publicly stay ahead of the court, since its decision will not be officially announced until June.

Of course, the primary suspect in this scenario is Elena Kagan, the newest member of the court. It may seem pejorative to suggest that she could so flagrantly compromise the integrity of her office, except that by remaining involved with the Obamacare court case, she has already done just that. Having stumped for Obama’s massive governmental power grab as his Solicitor General, she can by no means be objective in her current position. Yet she flatly declined to recuse herself from the case. So regardless of whether or not she actually divulged last week’s decision on Obamacare, the Court as it currently exists is in a wholly compromised condition.

Nor was the outrageous commentary on Monday the first effort by Obama to wage war on the Supreme Court and all of those irritating constitutional limitations to his power that it currently represents. In the wake of his latest rant, many are recalling how he used the 2010 “State of the Union” message to disparage the Supreme Court for ruling against Campaign Finance “Reform.” Yet his latest outburst reveals something much broader in scope and far more sinister than an episode of mere jockeying for power between two branches of the United States Government.

Obama Is Making the Case For His Own Impeachment
From Townhall Columnists ~ By Tony Katz ~ Published Apr 4, 2012

TONY KATZ
The President’s latest tactic, taking on the Supreme Court’s power of judicial review with a preemptive striking against justices who might contemplate an unfavorable ruling on ObamaCare, following on the heels of last week’s "open mic gaffe" in which he explained Russian President Dimitri Medvedev that he’d have more “flexibility” to sacrifice American security after his re-election, lead to one question: Is Barack Obama making his own case for impeachment?

Obama is no longer fit for the job. I don’t say this lightly. I don’t say it with glee or joy. And I don’t say it with malice. But rather with recognition that the Office of the President must be protected. And the citizens of the United States must protect themselves from a president who is either incapable or unwilling to fulfill his responsibilities to the American people and respect the Constitutionally proscribed limitations on his powers.

Obama’s pronouncement about the Supreme Court was so disingenuous and divisive as alone to warrant impeachment proceedings. Obama, a one-time senior lecturer in constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School, told a group of reporters at a Rose Garden news conference that since the Affordable Care Act was passed by a “strong majority,” a finding of unconstitutionality would constitute “judicial activism.” Nothing could be further from the truth. Judicial activism is when judges exceed their appropriate powers and legislate from the bench. Judicial review, in contrast, is one of the Supreme Court’s primary functions.

Obama, repetition and the art of the non sequitur
From TheBlaze Contributors ~ By Joe "Pags" Pagliarulo ~ Published Apr 4, 2012 at 9:13am

JOE 'PAGS' PAGLIARULO
Most of us outside of Illinois became aware of Barack Obama in 2004. He was a candidate for senator and asked to give a speech at the Democratic convention that year in Boston. He was interesting. A fresh face — in stark contrast to old Washington embodied by the Democrat nominee Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts. He had a certain confidence, youth and ability to grab your attention with how he delivered the speech. It would be a few years before we really started understanding who this man was politically.

In 2007 — when some of the candidates running for the 2008 nominations on both sides of the aisle became apparent — I was brought into New York to do a show for CNN. On the show were: Roland Martin (liberal currently with CNN), Rachel Maddow (liberal currently with MSNBC), and one other man — another liberal whose name escapes me, and me – the lone conservative on the panel. It was assumed I’d be pulling for Rudy Giuliani the former mayor of New York, I guess, because we were both white and Italian. It was odd that the assumption was made. I made it clear, however, that I was not a Giuliani guy because of his stance on abortion. I mentioned I was looking into McCain but was also looking into Obama. Why? Because he was young, energetic and gave one heck off a speech. I still didn’t know much about him other than what I saw and heard — like most Americans. The examination didn’t take long before I found out he was the most vehement supporter of abortion I’d ever heard speak and he was, at his very core, a socialist. He was and is a guy that believes the ruling class gets all the spoils and the rest of us idiots get what the bloated government decides we should get and we should thank said government for the table scraps.

The day Obama snuffs out Internet truth
Exclusive: Erik Rush envisions scenario of frightening totalitarian control this summer

(Be sure to read the complete column!)
From WND Commentary ~ By Erik Rush ~ Published Apr 4, 2012

ERIK RUSH
You awake one morning this summer to a radio alarm that startles you out of bed with blaring white noise instead of music or your news show. Annoyed, you soon discover that you can’t tune in any stations at all, not even on the other radios in your home. It isn’t until you determine that there’s nothing on the television but snow and “Cannot find server” messages online that you become concerned.

You phone your job; at least the phones are working. The receptionist suspects something is amiss, but they’re as clueless as you are as to what the cause might be. As far as they know, it’s business as usual, so you plan to go in.

Outside, it’s quieter than normal. As you leave your home, a brief conversation with a neighbor indicates that this is even more widespread than the city. Again, he’s pretty clueless, but mentions that a friend of his who was about to go out of town called and said his flight had been canceled. In fact, the friend said all flights out of town had been canceled.

No one gets much done at work that day. You learn that the telephones are only operating locally; whether land lines or cell phones, no one is able to place calls outside of the local area. Several co-workers who had work-related trips scheduled also had their flights canceled with no explanation. All day long, people on the job attempt to learn something, waiting for the radio, television, or Internet to go live again, but nothing changes for the remainder of the day. Some go home, others don’t want to be alone, so they remain. You hear a few more sirens than usual, and a call to emergency responders affirm that they don’t know what’s going on either, and they’re only responding to 911 calls.

Your employer is NOT your master
Exclusive: Phil Elmore offers appropriate response for bosses fishing for Facebook logins
From WND Commentary ~ By Phil Elmore ~ Published Apr 4, 2012

PHIL ELMORE
For as long as there have been employers, there have been methods for weeding out the unsuitable candidates and selecting the better ones. What no job applicant ought to hear, however, is the question, “What is your Facebook password?”

The popularity of social networking sites like Twitter and especially Facebook has given these sites a unique prominence in employees’ personal, social and sometimes professional lives. Depending on your relationship with your coworkers, subordinates and supervisors, you may have some of these as Facebook “friends.” There are certain obvious cautions attached to this type of networking. If anyone you work with can see your social media posting “I’m so hung over today” as you head into work on a Monday morning, it’s not a good idea.

This is common sense. The workplace and regulations relating to human resources, hiring, firing and employee/employer disclosures are already a Byzantine maze of overlapping and sometimes contradictory mandates. It should not be the case that a special law is required telling employers they may not ask about your social media, or prescribing dire consequences if they do. For all of Facebook’s rumblings about filing legal action against employers who dare to ask employees for their passwords, it seems unlikely that this would occur except in the most egregious or highest profile of cases. The issue, however, is a valid one.

Who is your employer to demand your private login data?

OUTSIDE of the BOX

Last weekend, we celebrated Passover and Easter, which I call "Resurrection Day." The following video was sent to me by my sister in an email last week. I've watched it multiple times, too many to count. The message is simple: Who am I to deserve God's Love?

Who Am I?

Complete Lyrics:

When I think of how He left His home in Glory
Came and dwelt among the lowly such as I
To suffer shame and such disgrace
On Mount Calvary take my place
Then I ask myself a question, Who am I?

Chorus:
Who am I that a King would bleed and die for?
Who am I that He would pray not my will Thine for?
The answer I may never know, why He ever loved me so
That to an old rugged cross He'd go, for who am I?

Then I'm reminded of His words, I'll leave you never
Just be true I'll give to you a life forever
I wonder what I could have done
To deserve Gods only Son
Fight my battles till they're won, Who am I?

Time 2 Escape WIFLI Briefing for Wednesday, Feb 29, 2012

Welcome to this edition of Time 2 Escape WIFLI Briefing!

What is WIFLI?
You may be wondering what the acronym "WIFLI" means. I started out by calling these issues the Time 2 Escape Daily, but that didn't work out very well. I quickly learned that putting these issues together on a daily basis was a task I was unable to accomplish. To replace "Daily" in the title, I coined the acronym WIFLI, which literally means "When I Feel Like It." Putting together a post on this blog WIFLI works much better for my schedule, and for the higher quality of each issue that is eventually published!
Today's introductory commentary won't seem very robust compared to past briefings. There's a reason for that.

No, it isn't because Rick Santorum didn't end up winning in Michigan. There are no sour grapes here. In fact, Santorum may actually end up with more delegates from Michigan than Mitt Romney. I'm okay with that!

Actually, it is a day in this briefing where I believe that the stories and commentaries I've included will speak for themselves. There isn't a lot that I could add or expound on. And I'm okay with that, too!

This might just be a good time for me to give you the reading assignment for the day(s) and allow you to see the things that I believe that you need to know for now, and in the future. I'm not enough of a control freak, or even arrogant enough, to assume that without my "guidance" in this part of the briefing that you need your hand held to get through another issue. In other words, I am not going to try being Rush Limbaugh with half my brain tied behind my back. I'm not going to try that at home! That's dangerous, because it may be time for my readers to figure out what may be on my mind on their own... for once.

Besides, it's time for me to eat dinner and get to bed. It may be time for you to learn on your own. I'm just sayin'...

Inhofe: Cap and trade is 'dead, gone, forever'
Says climate-change skeptics have won debate over global warming
Via WND ~ From The Daily Caller ~ By Will Rahn ~ Published: Feb 27, 2012, 7:12 PM

Oklahoma Sen. James Inhofe, the ranking Republican member of the Environment and Public Works committee, told The Daily Caller on Monday that climate change skeptics have won the debate over global warming on Capitol Hill.

We’ve won the fight because there’s no way in the world they could pass through legislation a cap and trade bill,” Inhofe said, referring to proposed laws that would limit carbon emissions. “It’s dead, gone, forever.”

Inhofe, the author of “The Greatest Hoax: How the Global Warming Conspiracy Threatens Your Future,” says that he initially believed claims that humans were responsible for climate change. But after reviewing the science behind the claim, Inhofe now says he believes that the theory is a lie, and that the United Nations is largely responsible for promoting it.

The history goes back to 1972 when this whole thing started,” Inhofe said. “And who was it? It wasn’t Al Gore. It wasn’t MoveOn.org. It was the United Nations.

Congressman Allen West blasts Obama apologies over Afghanistan Koran burning
From Examiner.com ~ By Adam Taxin ~ Published Monday, Feb 27, 2012, 2:42 PM

U.S. Congressman Lt. Col. Allen West (R-FL)
The latest round of perpetual Muslim outrage and ingratitude involves the seizure and dispoal of Korans [apparently paid for by U.S. taxpayers] at an Afghanistan jail, following a situation in which, according to Andrew McCarthy, "jihadists imprisoned there were using them not for prayer but to communicate incendiary messages."

As McCarthy wrote: "The soldiers dispatched to burn refuse from the jail were not the officials who had seized the books, had no idea they were burning Korans, and tried desperately to retrieve the books when the situation was brought to their attention."

Numerous riots, corpses and casualty-causing attacks on U.S. troops (there of course to protect and help build Afghanistan) later, Barack Obama has issued an apology (not necessarily on behalf of the American people): "I wish to express my deep regret for the reported incident. . . . I extend to you and the Afghani people my sincere apologies."

Defense minister warns about Iran's 'secret weapons'
'We have not yet revealed all of our capabilities'
From WND ~ By Reza Kahlili ~ Published Tuesday, Feb 28, 2012

In an interview with the Fars News Agency today, Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi claimed that Iran is in possession of secret weapons along with top secret capabilities that could be used to confront the United States.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has many hidden capabilities, which are kept for rainy days,” Vahidi said in the interview. “We have not yet revealed all our capabilities.

Referring to the U.S. assets positioned in the Persian Gulf, Vahidi stated: “These days Americans badly fear that an incident happens in the region and they can’t stand against the Islamic Republic’s firm positions vis-à-vis that given event.

Vahidi then, in an ominous warning to America, said, “Undoubtedly, since our defense is an independent and defensive one based on our own defensive policies, special defense doctrines and internal capabilities, the U.S. will face a completely new environment when [it] gets involved with the new issues that Iran is pursuing and it will be obliged to think of this new environment.

The Iranian defense minister went on to say that the American armed forces’ passivity in a possible confrontation with the Islamic regime’s forces will be due to the fact that Iran has not shown all weapons in its arsenal.

Why Santorum’s Michigan Loss Could Be Worse Than It Seems
From Talking Points Memo ~ By Evan McMorris-Santoro ~ Posted Feb 28, 2012, 11:37 PM

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Sure, Rick Santorum gave Mitt Romney a run for his money in his home state. And he should be proud of that. But by not pulling it off, signs point to Santorum making things much harder on himself moving forward than the results indicate.

His primaries party took place in a downtown hotel ballroom at the opulent Amway Grand, where Team Santorum hosted a low-key party to a not-huge crowd. Indicative of his pared-down campaign there were few staff and some strange failed sound cues. The crowd milled around, mostly keeping silent until Santorum entered the room when they gave him some full-throated cheers.

Santorum’s spin is simple: he got close in a state he never should have, the state where Romney was born and raised. That’s a win.

It’s a feeling his team here tonight were keen to push. But there were also concerns about clouds on the horizon thanks to the way Santorum went about getting as close as he did.

Stimulus is killing us
Government's deficit spending is 'like your brain on drugs'
From WND Commentary ~ By Herman Cain ~ Published Feb 27, 2012

HERMAN CAIN
The so-called stimulus package passed by the Democrat Congress and signed by President Obama in 2009 was not the first such attempt by Washington to stimulate economic growth by spending money the government did not have. It was merely the most obscene and the clearest evidence yet that such “stimuli” is akin to the kind people often put into their bodies.

Figuring that a $100 billion stimulus package like the kind that saw the Bush administration send taxpayers $1,000 checks in 2008 was for small-timers, Obama convinced an all-too-willing Congress to go even bigger and balloon the deficit by $862 billion to supposedly spur economic growth.

The economy was in big trouble, so we needed to think big! Translation: spend big! If we didn’t, the president warned, unemployment would exceed 8 percent.

As we all know, the unemployment rate exceeded 10 percent after the impotent stimulus. Even now, it has not been below 8 percent since it first exceeded that level, and it is currently hovering around 8.5 percent.

In 2011, unable to pretend the economy was getting better, Obama asked the new Congress, which now included a Republican House, to give him another $400 billion stimulus. This time, he was told Congress had cut up his stimulus credit card.

End taxes on manufacturing to help restore U.S. economy
From The Detroit News Opinion ~ By Rick Santorum ~ February 20, 2012 at 1:00 am

Michigan has lost 143,000 jobs since President Obama took office. Over a quarter of a million workers have left the labor force. Michigan's official unemployment is more than 9 percent. In Michigan, as in the rest of the country, if you ask people whether they are better off than they were four years ago, the answer is no.

Michigan is not naturally the land of unemployment. We're a nation that meets challenges and overcomes them. We'll meet the challenges of today, we'll persevere, and we'll succeed. We'll do that not by placing our faith in government to solve our problems, but by trusting in the goodness of the American people and its institutions.

When my grandfather first came to America, before he set out for the coal mines of southwest Pennsylvania, he actually came to Detroit and worked in the auto factories for two years. Now his grandson is running for president of the United States. That's what makes America great.

Some in America don't understand what makes America great. Last Monday President Obama sent to Congress a budget. It has massive tax and spending increases and continues our unsustainable budget deficits.

America has tried three years of higher spending and increased government intervention. It has never worked. It cannot work.

America can do better. Much better.

From John Kubicek
Editor In Chief of johnny2k's Blogging In Our Time 2 Escape:

What if we could free ourselves from the yoke of big government through a campaign of education and information and personal courage that leads to a revolutionary return to first principles? What if the establishment doesn’t want this?

~ Judge Andrew Napolitano, in "What if democracy is bunk?"
Yes, folks, there are some questions that we should assume need to be answered before November 6, 2012.

And BELIEVE IT OR NOT, I have been striving to tell you about the questions that we should be aware of, and that there should be an attempt to find answers. I don't have the answers, but I DO know the solutions to our problems can not be solved if the general population of this country is totally oblivious to what faces us in our (near?) future!

But... I have found a troubling situation that needs to be addressed in today's WIFLI Briefing.

The troubling situation is that I sometimes get frustrated and distraught when I find that there is very little traffic for a few days on this blog. That's a pretty silly emotion on my part. All  I have to do is to go back and see the progress I've made over the years, and remember things that I've learned, like the following:
The more experience you have with what doesn’t work, the more you’ll move in the direction of what does work. With persistence and a clear sense of purpose, failure can lead you steadily toward success.

~~ Ralph Marston, Friday, Feb 24, 2012, in "Everything can move you forward"
Rather than giving up when we have setbacks, it should be a greater motivation to keep on truckin'!! Exactly ditto of what Ralph Marston is saying!

Things - like FREEDOM - in America are getting further and further from what I enjoyed while growing up. I happen to now believe in the fact that if I don't do anything about it, I would not only be proving that I am complacent, but I would also be guilty in being complicit in allowing our freedom to be thrown into the dustbin of history. I think that John Stossel hit the nail on the head:

The politicians are spending us into oblivion. But I can’t blame only them. The American people are complacent. We like the goodies. We think we’re getting something for nothing. We are like alcoholics who know we have a problem but just can’t resist one last fix. One more infrastructure bill or jobs plan will jump-start the economy. Then we’ll kick our spending addiction once and for all.

~ John Stossel, in "My plan to balance the budget"
Should freedom in America pass away, so will America, just like the many empires before us. Like I said in a facebook status not long ago, "Let me be perfectly clear: They will have to pry my grasp of Freedom from my cold, dead hands."

And to make no mistake; don't even imagine for even a minute, that this is about any type of monetary reward should the Time 2 Escape blog go viral.  I just want to make sure that as many freedom loving patriots as possible have the information that is available to us, and make sure that the complacency doesn't persist. Though, I guess going viral would be kind of fun! I'm just sayin'...

US Bolsters Defenses in Strait of Hormuz
From NEWSMAX ~ Saturday, 25 Feb 2012 12:22 PM

The Pentagon has notified US lawmakers of plans to bolster US defenses in and around the Strait of Hormuz to be prepared for a military response against Iran, a report said Friday.

New mine-detection and clearing equipment as well as improved surveillance capabilities are part of the planned build-up, said the Wall Street Journal, citing defense officials briefed on the requests.

The Pentagon also wants to modify ship weapons systems to best deal with Iranian attack boats in the Strait, said the report.

The moves highlight efforts to boost US military capabilities amid heightened tension with Iran and rising speculation of a strike from Israel over Iran's nuclear program.

Iran prepares for kamikaze attacks
Tehran military on high alert with planes, speedboats in Persian Gulf
From WND ~ By Reza Kahlili ~ Published Feb 26, 2012

Even as it continued to talk with the U.N. nuclear watchdog, Iran continued to prepare for war over its nuclear weapons program, training for kamikaze attacks in the Persian Gulf with both planes and speedboats, sources within the Iranian armed forces report.

Tuesday the International Atomic Energy Agency called its recent talks with Iran a failure. And just days before, Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, ordered the Revolutionary Guards, along with the army, on high alert, ready with conventional and unconventional means to respond to any aggression by the U.S. or Israel over its nuclear weapons program, the sources say.

The Guards’ missile commanders, in their preparation for a fierce counterattack, have mapped out all U.S. bases in the region to strike with their missiles in order to disrupt America’s air sorties, believing they will be the main thrust of any attack by America.

Wyoming Advances ‘Doomsday Bill’ to Help Residents During Possible Collapse
From THEBLAZE ~ by Billy Hallowell ~ Posted on February 27, 2012 at 8:45am

Over the past few years, economic woes have led to both fear and uncertainty. The Blaze already told you about what “preppers” are doing to ready themselves should disaster become reality. GBTV, too, has brought you “Independence USA,” a reality show featuring a family trying to live off the grid. But now it seems even some politicians are getting in on the preparatory spirit, with officials in the State of Wyoming advancing what many are calling a “Doomsday Bill.”

In the event that America’s political system or economic stability collapses, some Wyoming lawmakers contend that a viable plan must be in place. Enter Bill 85, which passed its first vote in the state’s House on Friday. If advanced, the “Doomsday Bill” would create a state-run government task force that would explore and handle energy supplies, food shortages and other needs related to a potential nationwide governmental collapse.

Bullish on Santorum
Star Parker: Conservative support for senator will only grow in days ahead
From WND Commentary ~ By Star Parker ~ Published Friday, Feb 24, 2012

STAR PARKER
New Gallup polling shows the clearest picture yet of the great divide in the Republican Party that has been pushing Rick Santorum to the head of the class.

Behind Santorum’s 8-point national lead over Romney is a yawing gap in ideological support for the two candidates.

Conservative support for Santorum stands at 42 percent, compared to 24 percent for Romney. Among those who attend church frequently, support for Santorum is at 44 percent and for Romney 22 percent.

In the nation’s heartland in the Midwest and South, Santorum leads by 19 and 8 points, respectively. It is only on the more liberal East and West coasts where the two are running neck and neck.

Was Ronald Reagan
"a perfect conservative"?
The poll also challenges conventional wisdom that Santorum is too conservative for the tastes of independent voters. He is leading Romney among Republican leaning independents by 8 points.

With Santorum establishing himself as the candidate of choice among conservative and churchgoing Republicans, Romney’s tactic, manifest in the debate in Arizona, is to try and discredit Santorum’s credentials that are drawing conservative voters to him.

Yes, Santorum can beat Obama
Exclusive: Tom Tancredo knocks down fence between 'social' issues, 'economic' issues
From WND Commentary ~ By Tom Tancredo ~ Published Friday, Feb 24, 2012

TOM TANCREDO
One of the most reliable truisms in politics is full of irony: When it comes to predicting presidential elections, conventional wisdom is nearly always wrong.

Washington pundits talk and write mostly for themselves, and certainly not for the history books. If they were paid according to their track records as political prognosticators, they would all be on food stamps.

The conventional wisdom in 1960 was that John Kennedy could not win a debate against the experienced Richard Nixon. In 1966, the conventional wisdom said a lightweight movie actor named Ronald Reagan had no chance to unseat the popular incumbent Democratic governor of California. Conventional wisdom in 2008 said Barack Obama has no chance to beat the popular wife of a popular ex-president.

The conventional wisdom a year ago said Mitt Romney would run away with the Republican nomination.

Is there a pattern here? Politics is full of surprises, and 2012 is no different.

The lust for power
Exclusive: Patrice Lewis spotlights government officials' ability to coerce the rest of us
From WND Commentary ~ By Patrice Lewis ~ Published Friday, Feb 24, 2012

Power attracts the corruptible. Suspect all who seek it.

– Frank Herbert, “Dune
PATRICE LEWIS
It was nothing more than a random headline my husband read out loud off the Internet this week, something about how Hillary Clinton wants to be the new president of the World Bank.

“You know,” I commented as I stirred a pot on the stove, “I simply do not understand why people don’t long for a quiet simple life, with a job they can leave behind at the end of the day and a warm and loving family life they can come home to.”

That’s the way most of us are wired, after all. Naturally we have plans and ambitions, but for most people, the family they come home to at the end of the day is the thing that really counts.

But not everyone feels this way. Some people long to be the president of the World Bank for apparently no other reason than a lust for power. It’s like a fever in the blood and a condition literally unfathomable to those who don’t share it. My husband calls it The Centurion Complex (Matthew 8:8-9): I tell them to come and they come; I tell them to go and they go.

Lust is defined as an overwhelming craving. Power is the ability to dominate or rule others. People with a lust for power over others don’t think like you and me. They gauge things on a different scale. Those afflicted with this condition naturally gravitate toward positions in life where obedience is compulsory – and what better arena than government, where their craving can be enforced at the point of a gun?

Supply, Demand, Currency and Futures – The Truth About Gas Prices
From A Voice of Sanity ~ By Robert Ringer ~ Published Monday, Feb 27, 2012

ROBERT RINGER
Our old friend, “pain at the pump,” is with us once again, and this time it promises to be far more painful than the last time around. “Pain at the pump” is a nice little catchphrase, but I’ve never been able to figure out why people pick on gas. After all, isn’t it just as painful to pay $250,000 for a house that used to cost $8,000? Or $30,000 for a car that once cost $2,000? And what about the skyrocketing prices of such basic foods as milk, bread, and eggs?

The fact is that the price of gasoline is relative. Relative to what Americans have been used to paying, $4.00-$5.00 a gallon sounds like a lot. And $6.00-$7.00 a gallon — which is almost certain to come — is going to sound like a lot more. But relative to what countries such as the UK, France, and the Netherlands have been paying for years, these prices are no big deal.

But what, exactly, drives up gas prices? Some of the major factors include:

Supply. So long as “environmentalists” have their way, our lack of accessible domestic supply assures that gas prices will continue to rise. The far left, intent on bringing about a green-energy society, cheers on Richard Nixon’s creation, the Environmental Protection Agency, as it continues to stifle oil production at every turn. Obama’s refusal to build the Keystone Pipeline is just the latest example of how committed the green crowd is to bringing oil production to a standstill.

Demand. The emergence of China and India as economic superpowers, not to mention smaller emerging economic powers such as Chile and Brazil, assures continued upward pressure on energy prices, even if the growth of these economies slows in the coming years.

Middle East tensions. Summed up in one word: Iran.

Currency devaluation. Above all, the Federal Reserve continues to quietly increase the money supply, which puts unrelenting downward pressure on the U.S. dollar. What makes the continual devaluation of the dollar a unique factor is that it creates the illusion that gas prices are rising.

Futures market. Speculators take all of the above factors, and more, into consideration and bet on the future price of oil — the usual result of which is to drive prices still higher.

Of course, there are other factors that play into the equation as well, such as the 18.4¢ per gallon federal excise tax, but the biggest drivers of high gas prices are the five that I’ve listed above.

Even so, there is an even bigger reason why gas prices are sure to rise dramatically in the future: the coming “excess-profits tax.” In less gentle terms, I’m talking about increased government confiscation of oil-company profits. This theft will cause oil companies to pull in their horns and put the brakes not only on oil drilling, but on research for alternative sources of energy as well.

The class-warfare folks in the nation’s capital have a slam dunk when it comes to demonizing the major oil companies. They conveniently ignore the fact that the five largest oil companies — Chevron, Shell, BP, ExxonMobil, and ConocoPhillips — make a bit over 6 percent profit on sales, or about one-fourth the profit margin that Google enjoys. That being the case, one wonders why the kleptomaniacs in Washington don’t slap Google with an excess-profits tax.

Of course, some would argue that people don’t need Google, but they do need gas. Need, however, is a subjective term. It is simply a euphemism for want. Everyone claims to need gas, which simply means they want it. They also want to pay less for gas and less for cars, food, housing, medical care, and baseball, football, and basketball tickets. Worse, pandering politicians have convinced them that not only are their desires needs, but their needs are “rights.” Presto: Just like that, inexpensive gas becomes a right.

The High Priests of Eco-Destruction
From A Voice of Sanity ~ By Michelle Malkin - Wednesday, Feb 22, 2012

MICHELLE MALKIN
Rick Santorum is right. Pushing back against Democrats’ attempts to frame him as a religious menace, the GOP presidential candidate forcefully turned the tables on the White House: “When it comes to the management of the Earth, they are the anti-science ones.

Scrutiny of the White House anti-science brigade couldn’t come at a better time (which is why Santorum’s detractors prefer to froth at the mouth about comments he made four years ago on the existence of Satan). It’s not just big-ticket scandals like the stimulus-subsidized Solyndra bankruptcy or the Keystone pipeline debacle bedeviling America. In every corner of the Obama administration, the radical green machinery is hard at work — destroying jobs, shredding truth and sacrificing our economic well-being at the altar of environmentalism.

—Take Obama’s head of the National Park Service, please. While serving as the Pacific West regional director of the NPS, Jon Jarvis was accused of at least 21 instances of scientific misconduct by Dr. Corey Goodman, a high-ranking member of the National Academy of Sciences. Extensive information about Jarvis’ alleged role in cooking data about a California oyster farm’s impact on harbor seals at Point Reyes was withheld during the 2009 nomination process. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar has ignored complaints and follow-up from both Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein and Republican Sens. James Inhofe and David Vitter.

The National Research Council determined that the NPS had “selectively” slanted its report on the oyster farm. The federal Marine Mammal Commission found that “the data and analyses are not sufficient to demonstrate a causal relationship” between the farm’s operations and harbor seal health. In a letter blasting the NPS for bullying the small oyster farm, Feinstein — normally a reliable eco-ally — concluded earlier this month that the “crux of the problem is that the Park Service manipulated science while building a case that the business should be shuttered.”

And, finally, there is this:
You don’t ever have to settle for less than the very best from life. Because you can envision what you desire and you can work diligently to make it so.

Some would assume that the necessity of effort is a burdensome curse. Yet in reality it is one of life’s greatest blessings.

For it is the necessity of effort that enables you to dream your most treasured dreams, and then to make them real. You have the power to do it, and right here, right now, is when you can.
