Unreal: Obama Skips National Security Team Meeting On Russian Invasion Of Ukraine ~ By Mike Miller

This is a quintessential example of why Obama is often ridiculed over foreign policy. The White House calendar showed he had no scheduled events on Saturday. Even Joe Biden joined the meeting via teleconference. Yet, the Leader of the Free World couldn’t find time to attend his own National Security Team meeting on the quickly deteriorating events in Ukraine, relying instead on being “briefed” by Susan Rice, of all people?

Along with Obama’s inability to distinguish between campaigning and governing is his inability to understand that sometimes perception is more important than fact. This was a meeting that he needed to not be reported as one he did not attend.
"What difference at this point does it make?" That seems to be the overall complacent attitude of the entire Obama administration when it comes to anything to do with national security. We saw it before on 9/11/12 when four Americans were killed in a terrorist attack in Benghazi. Wouldn't you think that the President would attend a National Security briefing when Russia invaded Ukraine's sovereign territory in Crimea? And though this incident has staggering implications on America's lack of ability to deter aggression that violates international law, Obama would skip the meeting? And this weekend, where is Obama? On vacation in Florida. Oh, and meanwhile, Vice President Joe Biden is in the Virgin Islands.
The White House brushed off concerns Friday that, with the crisis in Crimea intensifying, now might not be the best time for President Obama -- and his vice president -- to go on vacation.

The travel schedules of both the president and Vice President Biden have come under scrutiny, given the rapidly changing situation in Ukraine. Obama, already in Florida to talk about education, was planning to spend some family time this weekend in Key Largo, Fla., where he arrived late in the day. Biden, meanwhile, will be in the Virgin Islands.
That's right. Despite a crisis. Just sayin'...

30 Russian Nuclear Bombers Amass – Who Is Russia Preparing To Bomb? ~ By Susan Duclos

Things just went from hot to explosive folks and Putin does not appear to be blinking but instead is taking this to the next level, as the US slaps sanctions on “unspecified individuals responsible for “undermining” stability in Ukraine.”

Funny, that should mean Obama slapped sanctions on the US because the US spent over $5 billion to “undermine the stability of the Ukraine” by facilitating and supporting the ouster of the Ukraine elected president, which started this whole mess.

When you first see this story, it may result in a chill running up your back. It did that to me, too, but then I thought more about it. As it turns out, Russia is in the middle of a military exercise which was pre-announced.

The thirty bombers mentioned in this column may very well be part of this exercise. But then, that could certainly lead to new questions: Was Russian aggression on Ukraine planned before the military exercises were announced? Is it possible that the bombers noted in this story were a part of the exercise, and not actually armed with nukes, or were they? Surely, these questions are being asked in the National Security briefings that president is participating in (or not).

On Before It's News
According to Turner Radio Network, Russia has amassed 30 nuclear bombers at an airfield adjacent to Russia’s Borisoglebsk national level nuclear weapons storage facility and US satellites have seen “numerous transfers from the storage facility to the aircraft.”

Is this Russia’s way of visibly showing they will strike out with nuclear weapons if attacked? Are they preparing for a retaliatory attack or their own offensive attacks?

As of March 4, 2014, according to the satellite imagery, there were only two bombers parked at that airport and now there are 30, loaded up and ready to strike, as evidenced by Auxiliary Power Units (APU’s) attached.

VIDEO: Pressing the Reset Button was the wrong thing to do

As an additional feature here on Blogging In Our Time 2 Escape, this blog will be including videos that have been posted on the johnny2k's America Facebook page! Videos can sometimes say more than what can be expressed in text.  Be sure to visit the archive with hundreds of videos to peruse!

Please allow me to lighten it up a little. Here is a meme that I came across today that emphasizes the meaning of "leading from behind." President Obama isn't determined enough to take on the intellect of Vladimir Putin.

Senate Republicans: Vote No on New START ~ By Sarah Palin

In a tweet from David Limbaugh, I found out about Sarah Palin's column on NRO where she weighs in on the Senate ratification of the New START Treaty. Sarah makes the correct statement by saying that we "cannot and must not give up the right to missile defense to protect our population – whether the missiles that threaten us come from Russia, Iran, China, North Korea, or anywhere else." And, that is exactly what I call common sense when it comes to defending and protecting the security of the United States!

Senate Republicans: Vote No on New START
SARAH PALIN

By Sarah Palin

December 17, 2010 ~ 12:13 P.M.

The proposed New START agreement should be evaluated by the only criteria that matters for a treaty: Is it in America’s interest? I am convinced this treaty is not. It should not be rammed through in the lame duck session using behind the scenes deal-making reminiscent of the tactics used in the health care debate.

New START actually requires the U.S. to reduce our nuclear weapons and allows the Russians to increase theirs. This is one-sided and makes no strategic sense. New START’s verification regime is weaker than the treaty it replaces, making it harder for us to detect Russian cheating. Since we now know Russia has not complied with many arms control agreements currently in force, this is a serious matter.

New START recognizes a link between offensive and defensive weapons – a position the Russians have sought for years. Russia claims the treaty constrains U.S. missile defenses and that they will withdraw from the treaty if we pursue missile defenses. This linkage virtually guarantees that either we limit our missile defenses or the Russians will withdraw from the treaty. The Obama administration claims that this is not the case; but if that is true, why agree to linking offensive and defensive weapons in the treaty?

Obama's problems – and ours ~ By Patrick Buchanan

Patrick Buchanan discusses the great challenges facing this country and President Barack Hussein Obama. The budget deficit isn't so much the fault of the former President, but more the fault of the Democrat Congress of 2008 and 2009. What Obama and America need to do may have to involve making some sacrifices, just as we have done before.
Have we become a people incapable of accepting the sacrifices previous generations made, and of producing leaders with the vision and strength of character that our leaders of old possessed?

We inherited the worst situation since the Great Depression.

That is the reflexive response of President Obama to the troubles from which he has been unable to extract his country.

Even before the inauguration, he says, there were projections of a $1.2 trillion deficit for 2009. That deficit is not my deficit.

Presidents are usually blamed for deficits run while they are in office. But, in fact, presidents do not write budgets. Congress does. Presidents sign them. And the mammoth deficits of 2008 and 2009 came from budgets approved by a Congress run by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. Did Sen. Barack Obama vote against those budgets?

As for the troubles he inherited, the president has a point. From day one, he has had to deal with two wars, a financial crisis and an economy careening into recession.

But Harry Truman inherited two great wars, an atom bomb and an ally, Josef Stalin, about to dishonor his commitments and enslave half of Europe.

Richard Nixon came to office a minority president in the year of Tet, urban riots, campus uprisings and the assassinations of Dr. King and Robert Kennedy. He inherited a war in which 500,000 Americans were fighting, and came to a capital city dominated by a media that detested him and a Congress where, for the first time since Zachary Taylor, the opposition controlled both houses.

Ronald Reagan, too, inherited the worst recession since the Depression, a hollowed-out Army, a Soviet Empire that had overrun Vietnam and Southeast Asia and seized Afghanistan, Angola, Mozambique, Grenada and Nicaragua, and a NATO shot through with Eurocommunism and pacifism.

Undaunted, Truman went on to a historic victory in 1948, and Nixon and Reagan went on to 49-state landslides. Presidents have a way of coming back, and America has legendary recuperative powers.

So no one should write this president or country off. But neither should anyone minimize the problems confronting us.

Can Uncle Sam ever let go? - By Patrick Buchanan

NATO has been irrelevant for two decades, since its raison d'etre – to keep the Red Army from driving to the Rhine – disappeared. Yet Obama is headed to Brussels to celebrate France's return and the 60th birthday of the alliance. But why is NATO still soldiering on? It seems the United States can't bear giving up its role as Defender of the West. read more | digg story
