McCain 2.0 now on sale ~ By Tom Tancredo

My advice to the tea partiers in Arizona: Read this column, and listen to Tom Tancredo! McCain 2.0 is a facade, a superficial appearance or illusion, and is not the real John McCain. Once a RINO, ALWAYS a RINO. Especially with new immigration "reform" to soon be coming possibly after the election in November, you don't want McCain still in the Senate. Also, should he win the nomination in the primary, there's the chance he'd lose the election to the Democrat, as I suspect many tea partier patriots would not vote for him.
Undoubtedly, the toughest obstacle for the McCain 2.0 strategy is the tea-party movement, which is very strong in Arizona. Will tea-party activists and 9-12 patriots play the game?

To deal with this potential threat, McCain 2.0 came up with a strategy that may be working. Friends in Washington who are influential in some of the national tea-party organizations persuaded the Arizona tea-party movement to remain neutral and not endorse any candidate in the Republican Senate primary. Thus, a legion of activist conservative voters who might have rallied to McCain's opponent have been told by their Washington mentors to sit on the sidelines. The problem is the success of that strategy depends entirely on the credibility of McCain 2.0.

The real John McCain has been kidnapped and an impostor is running against J. D. Hayworth in the Arizona U.S. Senate primary.

It does sound far-fetched, but stranger things have happened in American politics. It's actually quite clever when you think about it.

John McCain realized quite early that he could not win re-election to the Senate if he campaigned on his actual record – that is, if he campaigned as who he is. So, he arranged to be kidnapped and secluded in a five-star resort in Fiji while a well-groomed look-alike, McCain 2.0, campaigns in his place.

McCain 2.0 is campaigning as a strong, unapologetic Reagan conservative. He is now opposed to illegal immigration and wants 3,000 National Guard troops sent to the Mexican border. The real John McCain would gag on that speech, so he has to be 10,000 miles away. He reportedly spends his days on Fiji divided between watching old James Cagney movies and writing his next book, "With Apologies Galore."

The mainstream media are not blind; they realize this is not the real John McCain. But they are playing along with the charade. It's the least they can do to help their favorite "maverick" deal with his "lunatic right-wing base."

Yet a funny thing happened on the way to the scripted victory dance. Despite a fawning press and a huge money advantage, the most recent Rasmussen Poll shows former Rep. J. D. Hayworth is now only 5 points behind McCain 2.0. Conservative activists in Arizona are not following the script.

I confess, I have my doubts that the impostor McCain 2.0 can keep up the real McCain hidden for 14 more weeks. McCain 2.0 has called for 3,000 National Guard troops to be sent to the border and 700 miles of border fencing – and has endorsed the new Arizona law giving vast new powers to local police agencies to arrest illegal aliens. This is truly an act worthy of an Academy Award for best performance in political theater.

But 2010 is no ordinary election year. The natives are restless, and conservatives in Arizona are asking hard questions and demanding McCain debate Hayworth face-to-face. Can the McCain impostor stay on message and win over skeptical conservatives in debates and town-hall meetings?

McCain 2.0 has deployed formidable allies imported from Washington, D.C. His insider friends have arranged for endorsements that any Republican would be proud of. You need Sarah Palin to campaign for you? No problem. After all, she owes you big-time, and illegal immigration is not a big deal in Alaska.

Sarah Palin’s Loyalty is a Feature, Not a Bug ~ By Jenn Q. Public

I had been wondering about Sarah's support for John McCain, especially in reference to supporting the RINO rather than the Conservative J. D. Hayworth. However, after reading this short column, I can now understand the pickle that Sarah Palin was in.
That lesson about loyalty stuck with Palin. Choosing to support John McCain in the face of significant conservative opposition might not win Sarah Palin accolades for Beltway political savvy, but it says quite a bit about her character.

March 27, 2010

When it comes to John McCain, Sarah Palin just can’t win.

Campaigning for the man who catapulted her onto the national stage has prompted some McCain detractors to demote her from conservative rock star to unprincipled RINO sell-out. But were she to snub her former running mate, she’d be branded a disloyal backstabbing ingrate.

There’s no question McCain’s campaign staff repeatedly smeared Palin to distract from their own ineptitude. And once or twice, McCain experienced Bidenesque foot-in-mouth disease when discussing Palin with interviewers. But author Shushanna Walshe notes there are “no hard feelings between the former GOP presidential and vice-presidential nominees, even after all the public warring continues between some of McCain’s closest advisers and Palin.”

McCain 'birther' ad rattles J.D. Hayworth

I'm not sure which is worse: McCain's attack on J.D. Hayworth for being a "birther" (though he's not), or, J.D. seeming not to question the birther issue all that seriously. In the story, it says that Hayworth told WND, "I never said, as an advocate, that it was a concern." Hayworth added that "lefty blogs claim that because he discussed the issue, he must be a supporter of it."

At a January town-hall meeting in Surprise, Ariz., McCain reportedly disagreed with an audience member on Obama's birthplace and questioned whether being born in the United States should still be a requirement for presidential candidates.

"If someone (was born elsewhere) and came here as a 1 year old, and served a productive life, I'm not sure," he said.

A new political campaign ad for Arizona Sen. John McCain attacks "birthers" – and specifically assails McCain's challenger J.D. Hayworth for referencing the topic of President Obama's eligibility.

"It smacks of desperation," Hayworth told WND. "I think John's a good man who is getting some very bad advice. I think this will provide a backlash that sadly, but accurately, portrays the level of panic in the McCain campaign. It's most unfortunate."

The ad begins, "These are serious economic times. Yet some are consumed by conspiracies."

The campaign ad for McCain can be seen below:

My 1st 2010 prognostication ~ By Joseph Farah

Commentary from WorldNetDaily
By Joseph Farah Posted: January 31, 2010 ~ 11:04 pm Eastern © 2010 I don't claim to be clairvoyant. I don't claim to be a political prognosticator. I don't even claim to be a big fan of electoral politics. But I am going to make a prediction today about a U.S. Senate race being held in Arizona this year. U.S. Sen. John McCain, the 2008 Republican presidential nominee, is going to get beat. Remember where you heard it. One of the false assumptions many Republicans hold following the special election for the U.S. Senate seat in Massachusetts and after the New Jersey gubernatorial campaign and the Virginia governor's race, is that this is simply a bad year for Democrats. It will be a bad year for Democrats running for re-election in the House and Senate, but it's not just because they are Democrats. It's because they are incumbents and the public is in a mood to throw the bums out. Well, the dirty little secret is that not all the bums are Democrats. And that's where McCain comes in. He's toast. Whether he knows it or not, McCain is not going to be re-elected. The people of Arizona have had enough of his arrogance and big-government ideas and so have Americans. The only question left is whether he will be beaten by a Democrat or taken out in a primary by a real Republican. I'm hoping for the latter. And the man for that job is J.D. Hayworth, former House member and, until recently, an Arizona talk-show host. I like J.D. Hayworth, and I hereby endorse his candidacy unequivocally. He's the best hope Republicans have of holding on to that Senate seat in November. McCain is yesterday's news. He's been there too long. He's become comfortable in Washington. And he's especially too cozy with the other party – the one on the verge of bankrupting America. Hayworth tells it like it is. Did you catch him on MSNBC's "Hardball with Chris Matthews"? Of course you didn't. Nobody watches MSNBC. But maybe you saw what I saw – the YouTube version: (See below) READ FULL STORY >
