VIDEO: The purchase of guns is not the problem, it's what is done with them by the buyer

This report came a day or two after the arrest of four people for shipping guns illegally to Lebanon, and the raids on...

Former U.S. counterterror chief: 'Imminent threat' remains ~ By Kevin Liptak

"I think it's unlikely that threat's altogether been eliminated," Olsen said, adding that some senior leaders with the group had been killed.

Before the strikes began in Syria, U.S. government officials had barely acknowledged the presence of Khorasan, which formed from former al Qaeda members. Sources have said the group has the same aim as ISIS: recruiting and training foreign fighters who could return home to stage attacks.

While Olsen said foreign fighters present a broad risk to Americans' security, the potential for so-called "lone wolf" attacks by unaffiliated terrorists also worries officials.
The Khorasan Group (which can also be spelled as "Khorosan" Group) is a threat, even after U.S. airstrikes. However, I beg to differ.  The 'imminent threat' of "Khorasan" may remain, but I don't think it is THE imminent threat that this country is facing. Our enemy may be here already. The truly imminent threat: the homegrown, lone wolf ("non-affiliated") terrorist. ISIS has already found out that it's easy to brainwash those that are newly radicalized Islamists via the social networks (youtube, Facebook).

However, there is a way to counter that problem of homegrown terrorists. Help them on their way to paradise by paying their way over to Syria/Iraq (the Islamist State).

Here is part of my idea, with credit to Greg Gutfeld:

Hey, here is the rest of the idea: Give those that want to go to Syria/Iraq to fight for ISIS a pre-paid VISA card, don't confiscate their passport, and track their every move. Place a tracking chip on every card or passport, but put a $100 thousand on the card so they won't get rid of it, no matter what. They'll be vaporized long before they can use the full amount. Or, they'll just go to Vegas, get drunk, and fall of a balcony from their 18th floor penthouse. Either way, the problem of the lone wolf homegrown terrorist will be over, and it won't cost that much. Just sayin'...

From CNN.com

Washington (CNN) - The former head of U.S. counterterror operations said Tuesday the "imminent threat" posed by an al Qaeda offshoot in Syria hasn't lessened after a U.S. air campaign there.

Speaking to CNN's Jim Sciutto, Matt Olsen said by his analysis the threat from the Khorasan group "is still in the same place as it was before" President Barack Obama ordered airstrikes against the terror operation last month.

"This group was in a position to train without any sort of interference, they were able to recruit operatives," said Olsen, who stepped down as director of the National Counterterrorism Center in September. "We saw that they were looking to test explosives. So they were in the advanced stages of plotting. They had both intent and that capability that put them nearing an execution phase of an attack."

President Obama announced strikes against Khorasan in September at the same time he began the mission to "degrade and destroy" the Islamic State terror group in Syria and Iraq. At the time, senior officials described the threat posed by Khorasan as "imminent."

VIDEO: The Radicalized Homegrown Islamic Terrorists

In the previous video post, VIDEO: Are ISIS Terrorists ALREADY in the homeland? (Sep. 18, 2014), the discussion was about ISIS terrorists possibly sneaking into the United States, most likely through the porous Southern border with Mexico (or maybe on panga boats landing on our shores!). Now the discussion in this segment is about radicalized Islamists that are homegrown. Buck Sexton discusses how it is happening and what can be done about it, if anything.

'First thing I would do is offer birth certificate'

Bachman's comment came up as Katz was interviewing her about several significant issues developing in Washington, including Rep. Peter King's hearings on radical Islam in the U.S. and the trillion-dollar expenditures the country will face because of Obama's health-care reform law.

Bachmann said while she hasn't made a decision on a 2012 bid for the White House, she is visiting New Hampshire, which has the nation's earliest primaries.

She said the hearings scheduled by King address the obvious "common thread" in terror cases targeting the U.S. and its residents recently.

"We know there's a common thread. Why not look into it?" she said.

Muslim interests have accused King of "McCarthyism" for wanting to explore how and why radical Muslims are recruiting young Americans. King has cited, among others, the Fort Hood attack, the recent killing of a U.S. soldier in Germany and the suspect arrested in Texas who reportedly gathered bomb materials and carried a list of targets in Colorado and California.

The most important part of this column is actually an embedded audio player that plays the interview Jeff Katz had with Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN).  The interview covers several topics, including Rep. Peter King's hearings on domestic terrorists recruiting, and ObamaCare. As you will know from reading this story from WND, one part of the discussion being about the fact that Jeff's kid had to provide more documentation to play little league baseball than Barack Hussein Obama (if that is his real name) had to provide to become President of the United States. That is when Rep. Bachmann assured Jeff that the first thing she would do, if she runs for President, is to provide her long-form birth certificate.

It is a great interview, and it isn't real long, so be sure to listen to it!

Rep. MICHELE BACHMANN (R-MN)
If Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., decides to pursue a presidential bid in 2012, it could offer some interesting debate moments now that she's promised that the first thing she would do is offer the public a view of her birth certificate.

"I'll tell you one thing, if I was ever to run for president of the United States, I think the first thing I would do in the first debate is offer my birth certificate so we can get that off the table," she told radio personality Jeff Katz on Boston's Talk 1200 Radio Station.

WND has reported since before Barack Obama's 2008 election on questions and lawsuits over his eligibility under the Constitution's requirement that the president be a "natural born Citizen."

In the last few weeks a campaign has sprung up among state lawmakers to adopt legislation that would require presidential candidates to provide proof of their eligibility. So far, the issue has been considered in 13 states.

Wake up! Terrorists are running America ~ By Craig R. Smith

For all the columns that I may have posted in the last few days that may have given you any feeling of hopelessness, this one by Craig R. Smith should sooth your fears and anxiety about what our future holds for us. Craig hits it out of the park in this one. It is ultimately upbeat, and it is uniting. It is time to quit worrying about our specific differences, as that is the enemy's plan. The enemy would not want us to be united on the general principles of working together on the common goal of fighting for our freedom. We haven't yet lost it totally, so while we can, let's keep the freedom movement going, together. Divided we will fall, but United we will stand! We will continue to be the land of the free and the home of the brave. Just sayin'...
We're an America built on hard work, honesty and personal responsibility and a nation that had and will have again the "can do" attitude. We're a country of people who neither need nor want the government to provide their every single need. We're a group of individuals who know if we all have a common goal and don't allow the politicians to divide us, stereotype us and put us into different categories, we can achieve whatever we set our minds to.

So in November when you go to the polls, join me in saying, "Out with the terrorists and in with the freedom, the Constitution and a government of the people, by the people and for the people." I refuse to allow anyone, especially a group of radical liberals, to take away the America of freedom and opportunity and replace it with cradle-to-grave socialist dogma.

Will anyone join me?

Terrorists come in all shapes and sizes nowadays and all races and religions. Some are tall, some are short, fat and thin. The one common thread, however, is their ability to employ fear to achieve their warped and perverted goals. Fear is a terrorist's stock-in-trade.

Let's face facts: Blowing one's self up is a rather messy proposition, and in doing so you may meet your objective but never get to enjoy the fruits of your labor. That is, unless you are an Islamic terrorist and believe those 72 virgins will show up.

Threat of death produces fear. However, it doesn't take a genius to bring it to pass. Life can be taken rather easily. Kingsley Amis said,
Death has this much to be said about it:
You don't have to get out of bed for it.
Wherever you happen to be they bring it to you.
The most effective terrorists are those who can terrorize without the messy process of explosions or the certain death that follows. Those terrorists can only intimidate with the threat of future death and destruction.

The terror the likes of Saddam Hussein and other dictators employed arrived in the form of the fear of something: fear of rape, torture or future loss of freedom. Going to jail removes freedom in a most pronounced way.

A burglar utilizes terror as he holds a gun to your chest while asking for your wallet. It is a very efficient way to separate you from your wallet – far more so than politely asking you to hand it over. The appearance of a gun instantly invokes terror. And the fear that follows is extremely convincing.

A spouse or a child ranting, raving and assuring he/she is going to make your life miserable will alter behavior incredibly fast when others in the home know if that person ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.

As absurd as you think it is, all are forms of terrorism. Some more severe, some far less but all nevertheless effective in providing for the terrorist that which they seek: fear! And fear can force people to make very irrational decisions to sustain life or maintain peace.

Therefore the terror of challenging a president turned dictator is the only explanation for the absolute silence coming from Congress and the Republicans when the Obama administration makes totalitarian and unconstitutional decisions.

Since when can a president travel overseas and enter into an arms reduction treaty without the consent of the Congress? How can he reduce our nuclear stockpile without one peep of opposition from either side of the aisle? Where are the voices of "loyal" opposition when Mr. Obama makes these unilateral decisions on behalf of all Americans without any prior announcement? What about the "patriotic dissent" Hillary shrieked about during the Bush years?

How can a president offer additional financial support to the Palestinians who elected terrorists to run their country and not be challenged by one senator or congressman? Or even a newspaper or mainstream media outlet?

How can a president fire the CEO of a publicly traded company or shut down an entire industry simply by calling for a moratorium and never be required to explain himself to the people? How can a president offer amnesty to illegals aliens by the fiat of an executive order, and in the process, neglect the will of 60 percent of Americans?

The only answer is fear. He is terrorizing the Congress, the media and now even the American people.

What else can explain an emotionless and non-effective Congress allowing this president to do whatever he wishes without one word of protest before a microphone or a fiery speech on the floor of the House? What happened to the days when passion-filled speeches rang in the halls of Congress if a democratically elected president acts more like a dictator than a man of the people?

Obama's assassinations of Americans ~ By Nat Hentoff

Rather than going in and capturing high-value terrorists, we've been sending in pilotless drones and killing them. That's a good thing in the War on Terror, right? Save money on holding and trying them. Well, maybe not exactly. Nat Hentoff talks about the fact that some of the terrorist "hit" targets are American citizens.
Focusing on American targets, Ben Wizner, a staff attorney of the ACLU National Security Project, in a Feb. 4 press release emphasizes: "It is alarming to hear that the Obama administration is asserting that the president can authorize the assassination of Americans abroad, even if they are far from any battlefield and may have never taken up arms against the U.S., but have only been deemed to constitute an unspecified 'threat.'"

On Sept. 14 in Somalia, Saleh Ali Saleh Nabhan, a long-sought link between al-Qaida and its East African allies, was in a vehicle bombed by a helicopter flying from an American ship off the Somali coast. As Karen DeYoung and Joby Warrick reported in a front-page Washington Post story – "Under Obama, more targeted killings than captures in counterterrorism efforts" (Feb. 13) – another U.S. helicopter "set down long enough for troops to scoop up enough of (Nabhan's) remains for DNA verification."

That news story offered a telling consequence: "The opportunity to interrogate one of the most wanted U.S. terrorism targets was gone forever." And a senior military officer, careful not to give his name, lamented: "We wanted to take a prisoner. It was not a decision that we made."

That decision came from Obama, our commander in chief, who, as I've previously reported, has authorized in his first year more such assassinations than Bush and Cheney in their last years. The result, as the Washington Post noted, "has been dozens of targeted killings and no reports of high-value detentions."

After all, there can be no fierce arguments about whether a charred corpse should be tried in a federal civilian court or by a military commission. Some American citizens, believed to be highly connected to al-Qaida or its affiliates, are also on these "hit" lists. In Pakistan and Afghanistan, pilotless U.S. drone planes have perpetrated these assassinations.

These are highly classified operations, but thanks to the First Amendment, an increasing number of these summary executions have been revealed in the Washington Post and on the Internet. There have already been probing, through unanswered questions, from the ACLU, human-rights groups and other constitutionalists about this corollary damage to such an anchor of our rule of law as the separation of powers when the executive branch alone decides who shall die instantly rather than having been permitted time-consuming and costly due process of law. And there are no defense attorneys to raise objections, even when an American citizen is marked for oblivion.

Resistance to these terminal operations – which often inadvertently but effectively end the lives of innocent civilians – intensified in February when a high-ranking American official at last confirmed that targeted assassination is a legitimate American way of self-defense.

During a Feb. 3 hearing before the House Intelligence Committee, Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair testified that the U.S. intelligence community, when dealing with direct terrorist threats to the United States, does "take direct action against terrorists" (Washington Post, Feb. 4).

And "if we think that direct action will involve killing an American, we get specific permission to do that." Blair – sensitive to the Obama administration's delicate use of language in these matters – did not use the word "assassinations," but the message was lethal enough.

Congressman: Why is Obama stifling Hasan investigation?

From WorldNetDaily
Member of House intelligence committeee wants reports to prevent another attack By Bob Unruh Posted: December 18, 2009 ~ 12:40 am Eastern © 2009 WorldNetDaily A member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence is wondering why President Obama apparently is suppressing information assembled by an investigation into the Nov. 5 attack at Fort Hood by Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, an Army psychiatrist who reportedly shouted "Allahu akbar," or "Allah is greatest," while killing more than a dozen soldiers and civilians. Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Mich., expressed his concern in a recent commentary, saying, "There has been a troubling refusal by Obama officials to acknowledge that the shooting likely was an act of homegrown terrorism." "How can it be that the House Committee on Homeland Security has launched an investigation and called hearings within a week to look into the couple who crashed a recent White House state dinner, yet a month after Fort Hood there has yet to be a single congressional hearing into the Fort Hood attack?" Hoekstra said. "I fear that our nation is returning to the naive security outlook of Sept. 10, 2001, when radical Islamic terrorist attacks were considered law enforcement and criminal problems and not threats to our national security." Hasan, a Muslim of Palestinian descent, allegedly entered the Soldier Readiness Center at Fort Hood about 1:30 p.m. Nov. 5 and, according to witnesses, took a seat at a table, bowed his head for a few seconds, then stood up and started shooting. He later was shot by a civilian police officer and remains hospitalized under guard, reportedly paralyzed from his shooting injuries. Thirteen adults and an unborn child were shot and killed, and nearly three dozen others wounded in the attack for which Hasan has been charged. READ FULL STORY >
