Hypocrisy: OKCupid CEO donated to candidate opposed to gay marriage ~ By Joe Newby

Brendan Eich, Former Mozilla CEO
Mother Jones, naturally, tried to justify Yagan's donation.

"Of course," Hannah Levintova wrote, "it's been a decade since Yagan's donation to Cannon, and a decade or more since many of Cannon's votes on gay rights. It's possible that Cannon's opinions have shifted, or maybe his votes were more politics than ideology; a tactic by the Mormon Rep. to satisfy his Utah constituency."

But Levintova said that didn't matter when OKCupid target Eich, who made his donation in 2008.
Joe Newby writes about the recent revelation and "outing" of the donation by OKCupid CEO Sam Yagan to support a candidate that had voted against same-gender marriages. It is important to notice that nobody, including Newby, is calling for Yagan to step down from his position at OKCupid, who led the attack on Mozilla last week. The whole point is just to illustrate the hypocrisy from some on the Left.

From Jason Howerton on TheBlaze.com:
Even openly gay far-left blogger Andrew Sullivan panned the effort, finding rare common ground with conservative personalities who think free speech is more important than political beliefs.

“The whole episode disgusts me – as it should disgust anyone interested in a tolerant and diverse society. If this is the gay rights movement today – hounding our opponents with a fanaticism more like the religious right than anyone else – then count me out,” Sullivan wrote. “If we are about intimidating the free speech of others, we are no better than the anti-gay bullies who came before us.”
However, as Andrew Sullivan also wrote, "Will he now be forced to walk through the streets in shame? Why not the stocks?"  Hopefully not, or certainly, we're all in trouble.  Who here has not ever written anything in a blog, or a tweet on twitter, or on Facebook, that somebody could possibly take offense to, sometime in the future?

It's actually quite scary, and may I emphasize that point any more than I am now? What concerns me is that one person can lose his livelihood, being forced to resign from a very good position as a CEO, while somebody else escapes the same scrutiny for behavior from long ago.  This is what happens when the powerful political agenda of one group can alter the personal livelihood just because, in their minds, certain individuals have viewpoints that aren't acceptable.  But I thought that the harassment of employees for their beliefs is wrong?  Shouldn't the DOJ be investigating the thugocracy that made a certain individual uncomfortable in his workplace, requiring his resignation?

With this kind of fuzzy liberal logic being exposed, that it's okay to disparage somebody that made a very small contribution to a cause that isn't accepted by a minority, I will hope that talking-head news analysts will actually bother to cover this story as much as possible.  This seems to be a blatant example of how intimidation can work.  At what point will the U.S. government use that tactic, and be involved in restriction on OUR free speech?  Do you think that can't happen?  Oh, yeah, how about the IRS targeting of Tea Party Conservatives?  I'm just sayin'...

Sam Yagan, co-founder and
CEO of OKCupid
It seems, as George Orwell once wrote, that some are apparently more equal than others. On Monday, Mother Jones reported that OKCupid co-founder and CEO Sam Yagan also contributed to a candidate who opposed abortion and same-sex marriage.

OKCupid led the fight that ultimately caused Mozilla co-founder and CEO Brendan Eich to step down over a $1,000 contribution to a group supporting Proposition 8 in 2008.

Citing Open Secrets, Mother Jones said Yagan gave $500 to Rep. Chris Cannon, R-Utah, in 2004.

According to Mother Jones, Cannon "voted for a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, against a ban on sexual-orientation based job discrimination, and for prohibition of gay adoptions."

He also held a "0" rating from the pro-abortion NARAL Pro Choice America and voted for several pieces of pro-life legislation.

"Stone, meet glass house," Instapundit said on Twitter.

It's right and wrong, stupid! ~ By Joseph Farah

Joseph Farah warns conservatives and tea partiers that our country's problems are not just economic, and those problems are not going to be solved without involving moral values. The phrase, "It's the economy, stupid," is not going to help us keep our freedom without also keeping God's Law and knowing right and wrong.

The following is a quote from Russell Kirk, who "is considered one of the great intellects of the modern American conservative movement:"
"Men and nations are governed by moral laws; and those laws have their origin in a wisdom that is more than human – in divine justice. At heart, political problems are moral and religious problems. The wise statesman tries to apprehend the moral law and govern his conduct accordingly. We have a moral debt to our ancestors, who bestowed upon us our civilization, and a moral obligation to the generations who will come after us. This debt is ordained of God. We have no right, therefore, to tamper impudently with human nature or with the delicate fabric of our civil social order."

~ Russell Kirk, in his book, "The Essence of Conservatism"

I think it was the always insightful James Carville who made famous the phrase, "It's the economy, stupid," during the 1992 presidential election.

It shouldn't surprise that a liberal Democrat, with no discernible spiritual or moral bearings whatsoever, would make such a well-remembered plea to sheer materialism and political pragmatism.

What is shocking is the way so many Republicans and "conservatives" – and even some tea-party activists – are today embracing that Carville-ism in their approach to a political agenda to set America back on a course to liberty and self-governance.

After all, Democrats, "liberals," "progressives" and socialists of all stripes believe, for the most part, that the universe is solely comprised of matter. Everything is just stuff. This was the basis for the Communist Manifesto. Karl Marx believed economics was everything. There was no Creator above. There was no design in the universe – just matter and billions of years of random events that led to what we see all around us.

Surely that's not what Republicans and "conservatives" believe – or, at least, it shouldn't be.

Yet, some of the most prominent Republican and "conservative" leaders and organizations in America today are buying into that moronic lie: "It's the economy, stupid!"

Obama nominee praised polygamy

From WorldNetDaily
Contended traditional marriage shouldn't have privileged status Posted: October 05, 2009 ~ 1:13 pm Eastern © 2009 WorldNetDaily Chai FeldblumPresident Obama's nominee to become commissioner for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission signed a manifesto praising polygamy and arguing traditional marriage should not be privileged above other forms of union. Chai Feldblum, an outspoken homosexual rights activist and Georgetown University law professor, is a signatory to an online petition entitled "Beyond Same-Sex Marriage: A New Strategic Vision For All Our Families and Relationships." The organization defines itself as "a diverse group of nearly twenty LGBT and queer activists [who] came together to discuss marriage and family politics as they exist in the United States today." The manifesto, first noticed by the Catholic News Agency, calls for a "new vision" for securing governmental and private institutional recognition of "diverse kinds of partnerships." Among the stated "partnerships" the petition seeks to protect is "households in which there is more than one conjugal partner." The petition laments what it claims are conservative attempts to push for "abstinence-only sex education, stringent divorce laws, coercive marriage promotion policies directed toward women on welfare, and attacks on reproductive freedom." When Johnny Marries Moochie

Perhaps with Iowa's new progressive stance on equal rights and allowing the marriage between same-gender couples, I think it could easily be taken one more step: I can finally be allowed to marry the love of my life, my best friend Moochie, and be allowed to not have to live in sin by sleeping with my sweetie pie puppy cake (TMI). Truth, lies and PC attacks ~ By Barbara Simpson

Bottom line, [Perez Hilton] said, Miss USA should be politically correct. In other words, there's no room for dissent on "gay" marriage. Even the pageant director said, "Religious beliefs have no place in politics in the Miss CA family." Miss California gets backing of lawmaker ... from Alabama ~ By Chelsea Schilling

While many in Hollywood ridicule her, scores of Americans are now applauding Miss California's stance against same-sex marriage – including one Alabama lawmaker who drafted a resolution supporting her. At Sunday night's Miss USA pageant, Carrie Prejean was asked the one question she dreaded most, and her answer brought her both scorn and praise. From the article:
But while many Hollywood actresses stand by Hilton and condemn the beauty queen for her beliefs, one lawmaker is has drafted a resolution in support of the courageous contestant. State Rep. Jay Love, R-Montgomery, told the Montgomery Advertiser that there are those "telling people what they can believe and what they can say," which he believes is wrong. He said Prejean is being ridiculed and punished for refusing to support a lifestyle that goes against her beliefs. "I don't believe that's right," Love said. He said he applauds her for not compromising her beliefs by giving a politically correct answer. The bill was introduced Tuesday and every member of the House Republican Caucus and some Democrats have signed on as co-sponsors. However, State Rep. Alvin Holmes, D-Montgomery, said the resolution cannot pass because he claims Miss California is associated with right-wing organizations and supports discrimination. [Emphasis mine] "I am not for the Alabama Legislature honoring her in any kind of way," Holmes said. [Continue reading]
