But miracles, by definition, are not the norm. Consider these immortal words, stated by Daniel Webster in a Fourth of July speech in 1802:

We live under the only government that ever existed which was framed by the unrestrained and deliberate consultations of the people. Miracles do not cluster. That which has happened but once in 6,000 years cannot be expected to happen often. Such a government, once gone, might leave a void, to be filled, for ages, with revolution and tumult, riot and despotism.

The point that Patrice makes in this column is quite extraordinary: We must keep Daniel Webster's immortal words in mind.  "Revolution and tumult, riot and despotism" could get awfully ugly in this day of age.

Why I Hate Politics ~ By Patrice Lewis

Patrice Lewis explains why GOP Presidential candidates like Donald Trump, Dr. Ben Carson, and Carly Fiorina are doing so well. They are not politicians. And even "mavericks" like Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) - proclaiming to be Socialist, but running as a Democrat - are trending high in their respective parties as viable candidates. Why? As Patrice points out, the voter anger is directed at the politics of the ordained candidates of the Establishment.

"The problem," I complained to my patient husband, "is I am sick and tired of politics. Absolutely sick of it."

"So write about that," he urged. "You can't possibly be the only one."

Well, that patient husband of Patrice was absolutely correct. Patrice isn't the only one that's sick of it. In fact, I am so sick of it, here I am writing about it on a holiday weekend... for whatever reason! Just sayin'...
